I've just started reading extensitvely about Dirlewanger's Brigade, an Waffen-SS unit that was crammed with criminals and violent mental patients. They were infantry, lead by a decorated WW1 veteran and doctor of political science described at the time as "a mentally unstable, violent fanatic and alcoholic, who had the habit of erupting into violence under the influence of drugs" [Oskar Dirlewanger], and specialized in suppressing civilian populations and armed civilian resistance. They were notorious even among the SS for their cruelty. I knew about them before, but I've only just started to really try and get to know what they were. There isn't an atrocity under the sun that at least 1~2 sources claim they haven't committed. I tried to keep a list but it became so extensive that even going through some of them wouldn't remotely capture their evil, and going through all or many of them would be too long.

But if you want just an idea, though, then Dirlewanger and his men: burned hundreds of villages to the ground and killed most or all inhabitants, engaged in necrophilia, rounded up civilians to send to concentration camps, possibly engaged in cannibalism, dismembered and burned civilians alive, committed mass rapes, injected civilians with chemicals and watched them slowly die, targeted locations where people wouldn't be able to defend themselves (hospitals, child care centers, schools) and on at least 1 occasion beat and stabbed all helpless victims to death as to save bullets. Some sources suggest they (mainly Dirlewanger) even occasionally targeted members within their own ranks that were reluctant to commit atrocities or that stepped out of line in any way. That's all just fraction of what they did.

Reading about them though reminded me of Blood Meridian, and of Glanton's Gang. A Western, state sanctioned roving war band of (mostly) the depraved, criminal and criminally insane, engaging on a brutal, state-sanctioned genocidal mission. Led by truly monstrous and psychopathic men. The real differences between the two is that Glantons Gang was less involved with the government, and that the Brigade was aided by the industrialization of murder that was innovated by Nazi Germany in its more technologically advanced time. Something that occurred to me though is that both of these groups were related, in an intimate way. The policies and ideology of Hitler and the Nazi Germany was linked to the United States. It was heavily inspired by American eugenics, racial codes, and the genocide of Native Americans. Even if the Nazis generally emphasized a more cold and calculating way of genocide, the men of Dirlewanger were directly complicit by at least sending victims to concentration camps. And regardless, there was a place for them anyways in the genocidal project, since their willingness to engage in endless brutality and depravity made them useful. Useful "Wild" men, such as Glanton and Judge Holden, and the rest of their gang, willing to burn and loot and slaughter and rape entire cultures out of existence on behalf of capital, imperial expansion, the state, and the alleged superiority of one people over the other. Men romanticized in a loose way; Glanton's Gang being associated with the wild west and gunfighting cowboys. And Dirlewanger and his unit being associated with hunters; hunters are historically revered in German culture, and the unit were known as "The Black Hunters".

While researching an individual rank and file of the unit, who has a book on him [Kalistros Thielecke], I learned that he was (before his fall into violent criminality and indoctrination) a genius who was obsessed with Native-American cultures, and who had potential to be something of an anthropologist. He killed his mom after years of sustained abuse and performed Native-American funeral rites on her before reporting to the police. In a time of crisis, he was recommended to the section by his former investigator. It's too bad that he ended up becoming the reflection of the kind of thing that plagued his area of interest. He became the kind of genocidal lunatic that inspired the brutal war and regime he was unfortunate enough to find himself in. He was in too deep to really pursue his interest in Native Americans and learn from what happened to them, and that is a microcosm of what the greater situation was, and probably still is.

I (42F) am in a fantasy football league with my siblings, father, cousins and close friends. We have a large and very competitive league. It's been going on for over a decade. We have our annual owner's meeting every year the 3rd Sunday of June, but have had it earlier only when no one would be available that weekend. The meeting is for rule changes and draft order. We also celebrate my brother, and our 4 other close friends who are in the leagues birthdays as they are all that week and fathers day. Kids and spouses are always included. I've been married for a decade and have a 7 year old. The league and the owners meeting has never been an issue.
My in laws (parent in laws and my 2 brother in laws and their families) are not present in our lives on a regular basis. His brothers and their families don't come to our daughters bdays or see us on holidays and mail checks instead. My parent in laws decided to move to FL permanently after our daughter was born. Then they decided to summer north where we all were and then last year decided they would no longer do that.
My parent in laws were last up in Nov 22. They saw my daughter once, and spent the wkend with my husband and I for a wedding. They were supposed to see my daughter the day before they left after she got out of school. The day off my MIL said she wanted my husband to take her and FIL to their hotel from his brothers so she could relax and she would see our kid another time. Thus breaking my daughters heart when she got out of school when she found out that daddy wasn't taking her to see them. Hubby was pissed.
I had a miscarriage in Oct 22 and other than my MIL, the rest of them acted like I was never pregnant and questioned why I wasn't at my niece's (husband's brothers daughter) bridal shower after just recovering days before from complications.
My MIL text me a passive aggressive paragraph telling me they will be here from the 14 till the 24th and want to see us more than once. First off FU lady. We always make time for them, but it's them who always have plans. It's them who for some reason prefer to have each kid visit them separately. I responded to the text that we are wide open after our kid is out of school/I'm done with work, and that the only day that I'm not available is the 17th of June but my husband and daughter would be free. Apparently that was wrong because she contacted my husband right away and he wont tell me what she said.
He gave me crap about how not seeing them for work is one thing...but I retorted that I've had these plans set in stone, that we already had to move the date cause it was the only one thst worked and I'm not barring him on that date from seeing them. I also stated that I'm not canceling all of my plans for their entire stay in case they want to see us.
This was 2 weeks ago.
So onto how I may be the AH Tonight he told me his brother said they were having a father's day party and bday party for his dad that weekend but didn't know which date. I reiterated that I have plans that day but he and our daughter would obviously be going to his brothers house. He said but it's his dad's bday. He isnt happy and hasn't spoken to me since.
All he wants is his family's attention and they never give it to him or our family unless it suits them or for Facebook picts.
But I feel like I am the AH for not putting what he wants first. But to be honest if this was a death in the family it would be one thing or a serious family emergency, it would be different. I have a hard time prioritizing his family in any way when they make no effort with us at all. But maybe I can't see that I'm wrong.

As the title states, I (19M) am a young person, who loves old things. Jazz is by far my favourite genre of music, I'm getting a record player and large collection of vinyls in a few weeks, art deco is my favourite art style, I love watching football from the 1960s-80s, all of my favourite cars are old, and I much prefer dressing up in button up shirts and suits than t-shirts and jeans/shorts. Fortunately my best friend has somewhat similar tastes in music, car and dress style, but outside of him I've never met another person my age who has similar feelings/joy about old things. I wish more young people appreciated/preferred things from previous eras (I obviously don't think there's anything wrong with people who don't, preferences are preferences at the end of the day).

I think it’s really hard to see our league developing, and here are a few reasons why.
1-UEFA
We aren’t a member of UEFA. I don’t think any league can get as successful as European leagues without being in UEFA. And when I see asian countries (Georgia, Armenia, Turkey, Israel, etc) who are members of UEFA (some of which we border) it gives me hope that there’s atleast a 0.1% chance if the football federation has interest in changing to UEFA (highly doubt it, and highly doubt UEFA would support the regime. Maybe after a revolution, which is the main thing we should be hoping for.) they might actually do it.
2-Clubs owned by the government
Two of our most successful clubs, Taj (Esteghlal) and Persepolis are directly owned by the government and they have no interest in privatizing them, leading them to a path with no success even in the AFC. Atleast in the SPL, teams owned by their government SPLASH the cash trying to make their league famous. And oh, they’re still looking to privatize them! Messi, Ronaldo, Benzema? That’s the oil money from the government. We have it aswell! I’m not saying use it in football, but atleast either privatize the clubs or help them.
3-Clubs owned by companies
This is the smallest complain I’m making, but it kind of feels cheap to have a team like Persepolis, Taj, and then Shams Azar (the literal name of a company). Where do you even see that? I have no problem with them being owned by the companies (as long as they’re funding them) but having the name as your company name? A good example is Sepahan. I can totally get behind a company having a club but naming it something else (would prefer if it wasn’t on the badge but oh well) and then there’s Saipa.
4-AFC Competition
IIRC, the last time a Persian club won the Asian Champions League was Taj. And now, Persepolis have lost two finals in the last 5 years. With these big stars coming to the Saudi clubs (our direct competition) it feels wrong to predict a trophy for persian clubs. Not to mention because of the state our federation is in, half of the clubs aren’t allowed!
5-The Federation
I can’t remember where I read this, but I remember seeing a football site regarding Iran, USA, Japan and Iraq countries that could be football powerhouses. And I believe we really could, if it wasn’t for the reasons above. The federation doesn’t care about the league at all. Stadium Azadi was built before the revolution, and IIRC before the renovations it was in the top 3 biggest stadiums in the world. Now what is it? I can’t believe that all of our greatest achievements in football (3 back to back Asian Cups aswell) come BEFORE the revolution. This just proves what potential we had.
6-Exposure
Finally, one more thing I find is important in growing a league is exposure. The SPL has grown MASSIVELY. From buying big name players, even being in FIFA, they’re getting exposure. However, the PGPL has so little exposure that Taremi (who I personally consider top 10 strikers) isn’t been bought by any top clubs, because why would they scout Iranians?
That’s my rant over. Just had to get it off my chest, I really want to be able to support my local team and have people think it’s a good one. Let me know what you think about the reasons I’ve typed out.

After a trip down in memory lane after seeing so many artworks of revolutions past, we've gotten a little nostalgic and sentimental about the struggles of our forefathers who fought for a better future. Regardless, many a-piece impressed us, and we've noted down some of those that truly displayed revolutionary fervour.
The winners of this month's contest, The Spirits of Revolution are:

First time trying to acctually climb. Normally I just get the skin and never play ranked again because it stresses me.
Sitting at plat 2, still low elo.
EVERY GAME feels like a fight against my own team.
My problem normally is that people JUST DONT GROUP. In 50 matches I can count on my fingers the number of times 2 minutes passed without someone dying at a random place of the map.
Or times where someone is not farming jungle while the enemy team is grouped for baron.
Seeing a 5/6/3 assassin being killed in the middle of the enemy jungle right before dragon spawn feels like a garantee.
I've been tracking my games. 44 so far. Won 19 (And still managed to climb wtf). Of those, 15 of them I was either the ADC or a champ that melts torrets and have good waveclear like trynda or fizz. Normally I got most of the towers. 16 total MVP's.
Close games also dont exist. Its either we getting stomped, they getting stomped, or us getting stomped but somehow someone forgot me top and I sneak a win while they're baron.
Of the 25 I lost, only 6 I was playing what I stated above. 4 games someone disconected.
I like to play at every lane, and switch styles, but it feels close to impossible to carry playing tank, enchantress supp or even mage carry.
Even trying my hardest at mid/jg, if its not a champ that can literally destroy all towers, it doesnt matter that I managed to win my lane and help the others get feed. People just start getting cocky and dying on 1x3's and trowing the advantage down the drain.
Should I just accept that its either having fun playing different champs, or to climb smashing the same 3 champs over and over?
Or am I just plain bad

Hating Californians isn't a flex. Since when are we gatekeeping states that no one fucks with? I literally went to watch youtube shorts and it was a video about pros and cons about Texas and yet here again...people who live in Texas are gatekeeping a state known for mass murder and crime talking about some "californians please don't come here we are full"
Texas isn't that of a big state..let alone their cities with less than a million people are going through a sharp and sad decline because the same people living in Texas are the same people moving into their biggest cities that are vunerable to intense climate changes.. sad asf.
Matter of fact it aint just the Texans all this hate for California is usually comming from southern states no one actually fucks with a bunch of overweight, gun loving idiots living in states like Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, Florida (ironically), carolinas, etc.
Honestly, disrespecting/ hating on Californians because they came from a state with some "progressive" laws is very childish...grow the fuck up and be glad a shit ton of them are moving to somewhere cheaper because they're doing your broke ass state a favor. They're not making your state expensive...there bringing new buissnesses with them so yall don't have to constantly have to rely on farming, and typical college football. Be glad they're moving into some of these cities in the south- which have been declining en mass since idfk the 2000s.

A new report from Stanford University indicates that charter schools produce much better results than public schools: "Charter Schools Are Outperforming Traditional Public Schools: 6 Takeaways From a New Study"

A new study shows that charter school students are now outpacing their peers in traditional public schools in math and reading achievement, cementing a long-term trend of positive charter school outcomes. The study is the third in a series conducted by the Center for Research on Educational Outcomes (CREDO) at Stanford University, which has researched charter school performance since 2000. The third study, released June 6, is notable because it shows superior outcomes among charter school students while the center’s earlier studies showed charter school students performed either worse than or about the same as their peers in traditional public schools.

This confirms the anecdotal evidence from this George Will article:

In 2019, Success Academy Harlem 2 charter school ranked 37th among New York state’s 2,413 public elementary schools, one of which, PS 30, had only about a third as many pupils as Harlem 2, spent twice as much per pupil and ranked 1,694th. PS 30 and Harlem 2 operate in the same building.

Why the opposition to charter schools when they are proven to provide better results to kids?

Come on. do people believe her shit anymore. She is doing all this so she can get a new car, she said weeks ago she wants a 7 seater. Then the seatbelt broke, but how? At each pink slip they check it? Which is every year? She's driving a defected car around? It doesn't make sense. You also stated that you wont go for ranking anymore after the 14k you earnt but you are doing rankings every week, for a new car no doubt. In 2 months time she will have a new car with tiktok gifters who bought it. If you don't care and your not forcing people to gift you, just tell people to fund you a new car instead of using your kids against your own gifters. My kids wont eat that's emotional abuse. Nobody is responsible for your kids apart from you and their dads. Your not responsible for other peoples kids, so its the same principle. If your kids cant eat there is food bank, salvos and other avenues you can go to seek help.
