2023.06.07 05:22 jmc1097 Could this Before the 90 Days premiere be the most depressing premiere in 90 Day series history?

I mean, think about it....
The other couples of the season so far haven't been featured yet, but that Catholic couple with the guy who is a 46 year old virgin is yet another inevitable dumpster fire waiting to happen. I just feel like this is bound to be the most depressing 90 Day Fiance season ever made. It won't even be sad in a funny way, it will just make all of us feel dead inside. It'll be like getting beaten up, only to have your attacker come back to light you on fire 15 minutes later. This is the end.

2023.06.07 05:12 yerbabuddy Five days after I lost my foster kitten to an upper respiratory infection, my sweet girl Phoebe became suddenly very sick from the cancer I didn’t know she had. Today I held her as she took her last breath. Nothing has ever hurt like this.

Phoebe was born 11/1/2008, and went to sleep 6/6/2023. She loved forehead kisses, and carrying her favorite shoelace around, and sitting on my back, and telling me about her day, and sharing lazy mornings, and chewing on my pencil when I was trying to write, and visiting her grandparents, and lying on the balcony in a sunbeam, and meeting new friends, and life in general.
From the moment she put her paws on my knee in the shelter, I knew that she was my soulmate. She was there for me through good times and bad, and made my life better in so many ways. It breaks my heart to think I’ll never again hear her happy little quacks or feel her soft paw on my hand. We only had three years together but I know I’ll miss her for the rest of my life.
Rest well, sweet girl. I am so, so grateful you chose me to be your mom. I love you.

2023.06.07 04:54 Arkanin 39 [M4R] Texas - Do you have deep thoughts, feelings, dreams or insights? With anonymity, we can safely reveal our true selves!

Do you have deep thoughts and feelings to share, but find yourself holding back out of fear of judgement? Do you have experiences, emotions, desires or dreams that want to come out - but expect them to land on deaf ears in everyday life? I believe that the real beauty of the internet is anonymity. Anonymity gives us the power to safely have conversations with no stakes, free from judgement or external influences. So if you feel lost or hidden, perhaps overwhelmed by the responsibilities of life or lonely even in company, let’s reveal ourselves to one another.
I’m interested in cultivating friendly and anonymous but emotionally supportive and deep online conversations where we can act as a sounding board for each other, explore our interests, get advice, or get emotional support. These can take time to build, a fact we should both understand, but if you do want to jump into something emotional, important or profound, I actually will go with your flow on this one - it’s the internet, we’re safe, and I’m down. Whichever way we flow, I’ll be kind and non-judgemental and I ask for the same in return. If you have kindness as well as emotional depth I would love to hear from you!
About myself and my interests - I’m a software engineer who works remotely. I’m great at my job. I’m a computer nerd, an avid reader, an extremely passionate writer, an online roleplayer, an effective altruist, a hardcore gamer of many varieties, an amateur law nerd, and a creator of mods, among many other things. I especially love writing and also produce short stories and poetry as well as corresponding and chatting. I am rationalist-adjacent. I also took a lot of electives about philosophy, economics, and personal finance in college and continue to have an amateur passion for them. I appreciate exercise and absolutely love the peace and comfort of mother nature, so I will be sending you some nature photographs! You’ll have to get used to it, it’s part of the package!
Chances are that you’re an introvert if you’re into this one, and that also means it might take us some time to see if we warm up to each other - that’s okay by me if it is also with you! Oh, and I can carry a conversation. I’m perfectly capable of holding the hand of a shy partner. I will hope that in time we can both get comfortable freely expressing ourselves. From one person to another, whatever it is that you’re searching for, I hope that you too can find it!

2023.06.07 04:51 VineViridian Complex Trauma As Emotional Leprosy: An Analogy

TL; DR: Trauma responses carry a stigma akin to leprosy, so those wounds must only be shown among our own "colonies". Therapists, socially successful & the non traumatized cannot tolerate raw trauma without disgust.
I have come to identify complex trauma as "emotional leprosy".
This is because there is a hostility and stigma towards trauma responses, particularly the freeze, fight, and anxious attachment. I see it among therapists when psych students share what they discuss in their private subs. I see it in how people in this and other trauma subs ard treated by therapists and other people.
It turns out, we are an annoying bunch, as far as both therapists and the general public are concerned. especially anyone whose trauma responses get labeled as borderline personality disorder. And as Daniel Mackler on YouTube states, "when a therapist diagnoses a client with BPD, it means that they dislike the client."
I'm nerding out on leprosy education, here. Later, I will compare it to CPTSD. Please skip this section if you don't care to read
Leprosy has an stigma reaching back to ancient times. It is a tropical disease, caused by the bacterium Mycobacterium leprae. It is spread through droplets in the air from sneezing or coughing.
It mainly affects the skin, eyes, nose and peripheral nerves. Secondarily, joints and bones. The deformities it causes are horrific and debilitating, yet leprosy is treatable with a cocktail of 2 or 3 antibiotics that must be taken for 1 to 2 years. Leprosy is not easy to catch, there must be close quarter contact for months or years with the infected person.
end of nerding out section
I invite you to go check out images of advanced leprosy. I think they are perfect physical representations of the emotional and social wounds that many of us carry. I'm glad that leprosy in the world isn't common and is completely treatable. I wish I could say the same for trauma.
So, why is therapy safer if financially disadvantaged, traumatized people without a support system stay for a limited time with any one therapist? Because there is a bottleneck effect in recovery when one is experiencing constant external stressors of systemic oppression and is alone to fend for themselves physically, mentally and emotionally. Most people who become therapists never contend with that.
People I've met who, I suspect, had some similar childhood traumas as myself are light years ahead of me in recovery, financial security and social support, when they have been fortunate enough to find people who believe in them and love them. Those of us who have never had this have to supply everything to ourselves, and that greatly slows our recovery.
We become objects of contempt to therapists (and the general public!) eventually. The emotional leprosy is an annoying drain on societally functioning people. Our wounds are unsightly, we become abhorrent if they are made visible.
Therefore, for best theraputic outcome without the potential for futher abandonment and post traumatic stress, I conclude it best that no trauma survivor without a loving support system and healthy financial resources stay with any one therapist for over 2 years–at the longest. I also suggest that we utilize anonymous trauma colonies (such as this one) for our support, definitely Not friends, or we will likely lose those friends eventually.
Much of therapy is about hiding our deformities in order to not be social outcasts, act like everything is fine. Pull yourself up by your bootstraps. DBT is an excellent example. I intend to hide this ravished mess as much as I can, but sometimes the fabric slips and the disgusting sore peers out.
Recovery from leprosy can take a couple of years. Recovery from deep trauma without a loving support system and financial security takes much longer. We don't need to be ashamed of our wounds, but it's best for our wellbeing to keep them hidden from the haters.

2023.06.07 04:43 Sharinganprincess91 [F4M] Fandom Roleplay. Looking for more partners. (Super freaking bored. Please read before messaging me).

Side note: I've added a password, so read carefully. If you message me WITHOUT the password, your messages are automatically IGNORED. tired of getting hit up with people who don't read 😒. It's ridiculous cause I've ignored 5+ chats cause none of them contained the password. Things are written for a reason.
Facts about me:
Rules:
1: if you don't like 50/50 mixture of sex scenes and story, don't bother hopping into my inbox. I'm fine with sex scenes, but when it's constantly back to back, the roleplay itself gets boring.
2: Be literate. No one liners. I like to write..it's annoying when I send a 2-3 paragraph response and I get 3 lines...just...no. I am not accepting people who are just starting out! If you aren't experienced in writing or roleplaying, kindly stay out of my inbox.
3: Be okay with playing canon characters. I'm mainly doing fandom roleplays right now and it's going to be Canon x my oc. No, I'm not doing double ups. Do not even ask, because the answer will be no every time. I do not give a shit if you think that makes me 'lazy' or 'selfish', if you've got a problem, you can simply ignore or block me. Commenting on my post to bitch and whine about me not doubling up will only result in me blocking you. The ONLY time I'll double up, and if I'm confident enough, I'll only do female characters. I suck at males. Got a problem? Not my issue. Block and move on.
4: Roleplay in third person. I can't and won't adapt to first. Don't even bring up the idea of you playing first person and me playing third. Believe it or not, I've been asked this twice and that is just a hell no for me. The only time I do first, is when I'm writing into my book.
5: if you don't know how to share ideas, then don't bother messaging me. I'm tired of carrying the story when the other person doesn't help. If you've got ideas, then PLEASE speak up! Your opinion on the roleplay matters too! I'm an easy going person, and easy to get along with (dispite my rules).
6: DO NOT control my character. I control what she says, does, hears, sees, ect. I don't control yours, so don't control mine. HOWEVER, if it's highly necessary and needed, then run it by me first and ask me. Just leave me some wiggle room so I can make a decent response. Failure to comply by this rule, results in immediate drop of the rp.
End Note:
Yes, I've updated my rules just a tad. I do not care if it makes me sound mean or rude, because I'm neither of these things. I'm just tired of putting these rules down for a specific reason and they go ignored because I can tell when someone hasn't read them, and lied about it. I'm just trying to get my point across and roleplay. I'm a very easy going person who loves to make friends on the side (which I've somewhat given up on making friends...only a selective few have actually gained my friendship).
Do not hop into my inbox with a simple 'hey' 'hi' 'sup', etc and for God's sake, don't message me with a 'rp?'and proceed me to flash me with your talliwhacker. I promise you, you'll get your feelings hurt and I'll be here laughing at ya 😂. Nobody wants a peen on their screen. Do not send me an image of your one eyed noodle. Thank you. The password is pineapple.

2023.06.07 04:23 JihadiLizard thinking about carrying a .44 magnum.

i know this might sound ridiculous at first, but let me explain. i currently carry a glock 19, sometimes a glock 21 as my CCW. there’s nothing wrong with these guns as i practice with them consistently and love them. however i’ve had my eyes on a colt anaconda, with either the 6” or the 8” barrel. i have a decent amount of not so common firearms in my collection, and i’m a huge fan of them. albeit most are range toys, but i like them because of the cool factor. i would like to carry the colt anaconda on me, whether in a shoulder sling or in a crossbody bag. i just think the general idea of a .44 magnum being concealed inside of a crossbody bag is a pretty dope concept, and that’s why i’d like to potentially do it. i know that if i carried said firearm on me for practical use in a potential gun fight, i’d have to train with it and whatnot, which is perfectly fine. but what are your thoughts on this? just kinda curious as to what others think.

Hello! This is a post I decided to write in response to Matpat's newest FNAF theory, "I solved Ruin"
The first half of the video is not that bad. He gets GGY right for the most part. He correctly connected Greg from GGY to Gregory from SB. I do not have much to say regarding that matter. GGY is directly connected to SB, and there is no room for debate regarding that, and the fact that Gregory was under the control of Glitchtrap.
Granted, Matpat says that he was WORKING for Glitchtrap, though the way I see it, Gregory was more of a pawn. I don't think Gregory was himself at all. Security Breach even shows this. I don't think Gregory was lying in SB, he just had no idea what was going on, since for who-knows-how-long he was under the control of Glitchtrap.
We can use Vanny as an example. When Vanny switches back to Vanessa... well, Vanessa does not remember what she did as Vanny. The same could apply to Gregory. Also keep in mind that Gregory was EXTREMELY smart in GGY, saying very psychological statements all the time, which really screams "mimic!" to me.
Gregory obviously was taken over for a while, since he had a little trouble remembering his name in the beginning of Security Breach, meaning SB probably doesn't take place very much longer after Gregory somehow broke out of Glitchtrap's control.
Though I do have a problem with how he worded something, though. Matpat said that Gregory was working for "AFTON" which in itself is not correct. Tales show that "Afton" is no longer here, and that Glitchtrap is simply a mimic1 program developed around 1984.
And regarding Gregory being a robot... unfortunately, I think he kind of has to at this point. Heck, GGY indirectly shows that he likely is a robot.
GGY takes place at least a couple of years before SB. Gregory is 12 during the events of GGY, therefore making him 14-15 by the events of SB. However, he still looks 12 during SB.
Though at the same time, there is a problem with the statement I made: the robots in other books, such as the original novel trilogy, are able to grow like regular humans. So why not Gregory?
To be frank, I don't know. The book does say that Greg looks younger than he really is, so for all we know, he may actually be 14 in SB, but just looks younger. That is very much plausible too.
Matpat does have a point about the occasional Gregbot hints in GGY, though, and the evidence at this point is rather compelling.
Now, onto other things: The Mimic.
Firstly, he went over the story pretty well. One thing I will point out though is that Matpat says that what happened when Edwin beat up the Mimic was that he was essentially injecting Agony into it.
I am personally a bit mixed on that take. I think what happened was that after Edwin beat up the Mimic, it decided to Mimic that, as it had just learned violence. Also noticed how Edwin beat it up. The Mimic kills its victims in a way similar to how Edwin "destroyed" the Mimic. The Mimic kills its victims by tearing up their limbs and mangling them. Very similar to how Edwin beat up the Mimic.
I think more evidence points to the fact that Mimic simply learned violence rather than having to be injected with Agony to start harming people.
Though it could be both, though. Perhaps Mimic learned violence while also being injected with Agony. It could have gone down like that.
Let me be real, Matpat lost me when he began building a parallel between Edwin and Henry.
Sure, many aspects of them are different. But you are capable of having a parallel between two characters without it explicitly being two separate timelines.
For example, Glamrock Freddy seems like an obvious parallel to Michael Afton, though that doesn't mean he IS Michael Afton.
Edwin's dead kid, David, is not parallel to Charlotte. They don't even die the same way.
Charlotte is killed when William Afton murders her outside of a pizzeria. David dies after being hit by a car whilst chasing after his ball.
Sure, both are tragedies, but if we see a little kid get murdered and then a little kid being hit by a car, how do you expect to build parallel's here? They die in a completely different way.
Matpat once again tries to pull a parallel between Henry and Edwin and that Henry began the business back in 1983, and The Storyteller explains that The Mimic happened 40 years before... there is a major problem with this. A big one.
The Storyteller takes place in 2024 because The Mimic happened around 1984.
I know, saying The Storyteller is in 2024 sounds like a bit of a stretch because it does sound like it, because Fnaf 3 was believed to be set in 2023, and it does not make sense for Fnaf 3, Fnaf 6, Fnaf VR, Fnaf AR, and the entire construction of the Pizzaplex to happen in one year.
This does lead me to believe that Fnaf 3 in fact takes place in 2015, but this statement is not what this post is about, so if you want me to make a separate post on that, let me know.
Anyways, Matpat says the "40 years thing" to be a parallel to Henry and that his whole thing happened in 1983 and he came back in 2023... which makes absolutely no sense and is a major contradiction.
The way he explains The Storyteller as a story is weird.
The way he says it, he believes that David (Edwin's dead son, also the person who trained the mimic1 program) got infused into everything, and that is not the case. It's Glitchtrap. The mimic1 program is the same thing as Glitchtrap. Mimic1 is literally the canon name for Glitchtrap, similar to how Mimic is the canon name for Burntrap.
Edwin trying to talk to his son through the weird language David made does not mean David is present. It is a mimic program, not literally David.
Regarding the Charlie thing, sure, Charlie is very clearly present in the Pizzaplex, and I think the Tales story shows that her spirit is haunting the Pizzaplex. However, the mimic1 program is not the same as Charlie haunting the Pizzaplex. Charlie is present in the Pizzaplex, though the mimic1 program also is.
Anyhow, these are the big problems I had with his newest theory. I don't hate Matpat, I think he is a great person, but this theory was really a downhill spiral.
Leave your thoughts below! I would love to read them!

2023.06.07 04:09 swordytv Changes / Feedback / Bugs

tldr : Awesome game with a lot of missing features. Blizzard made the perfect game for casual players but made it so simple that the engame is just a headache to play. They wanted to create something new but ended creating d3 with a lifeless open wolrd map.
The feedback im giving is not coming from an elite nor a casual player... i put myself between these two.
Changes i wish they would add/change :
Rewards & Drops: This part is my nightmare, as i saw how people loved the low drop rates in the beta i had hopes that this is gonna be the normal and every legendary drop gives me joy but no... after reaching lvl45+ legendary items drop like trash and in few hours your entire build is done. (any build). Isnt it better to grind for the stuff you want instead of getting everything instantly ?
Gold : I know this is a diablo thing but cant we have smaller gold amounts? like 10-100-1000-10k? watching these millions grow and spend is weird and removes the value. If my friend asks how much to enchante a weapon its so much more user friendly so say 500 than 133million...
Helltide : by far the best feature imo. Farming is rewarding there.
PvP : i saw other arpg games struggle with this to work for years and probably Lost Ark does it the best where you dont fight with your pve gear. If pve gear stays in pvp zones its gonna stay broken.
Aspects & Dungeons : dungeons are fine but the way we get all the aspects is again too easy, an aspect should be dropped inside that specific dungeon, so its worth going in more times, lucky drop is more rewarding.
Endgame & stats : Well the endgame grind loop is pretty much same as in D3. The nightmare dungeons/capstone are nice but there has to be some limits for builds. Lets dont turn this game into a run simulator with trillions of damage numbers floating above us. for example add limit to run speed.
Gems : that bag is needed asap
Inventory : the size is okay but dont make a dungeon drop 4x more than i can carry... this teleporting in and out is annoying
Map : (UI) : some filters would be nice and a list for all the sidequests which is done and not.
Bugs : - monsters stay dead in air - a lot of elites sometimes spawn inside cities - after teleporting skills cant be used - some fire effect from elites make the fps drop insanely - after joining and leaving the group brokes your own man, nothing is refreshing - sometimes and event pops up and randomly disappears. - there are still many sidequest with no cutscene skip function - after todays patch some monsters spawn under ground or in walls

2023.06.07 04:07 didntyoufuckingknow I was in an abusive relationship and had to move back in with my narc parents

I don't have any other options. I've been able to spend a lot of time out of the house, so generally it's been fine. But these last few days have been extremely challenging and I don't have anyone to talk to about it.
This morning, before I even got out of bed, my mom started with the guilting. "Your dad was crying, sobbing all day yesterday can you please make an effort with him?" This is the same man I watched beat my mother growing up and who, last year, punched me, a 5'3 110lb female, in the face on my 30th birthday.
Yes my father has shown up for me in a lot of ways. He saved me from my abuser. He'd give me the shirt off his back, but after all the disrespect he deals me, he still demands that I respect him. And now I'm supposed to be the guys therapist? I told my mom I'm not responsible for his happiness, she told me I'm selfishi carried that with me all day thinking about my dad. Did anyone ever stop to think about me?
I spent all day in bed. Nobody came to check on me. I figured I'd do the dishes to help out and keep them off my back. My dad comes into the kitchen and I hold my breath. He says, "you know your mom's been outside all day, ask her if she needs mosquito repellent." I say, okay, im busy right now but will once I finish with the dishes." He takes this as me having an attitude and says so. He doesn't let up. He says it again, "I bet she's being eaten alive out there" as he puts more of his dishes in the sink for me to clean up. I say to him, "why don't you go see if she needs repellent, then?" "What, I can't even have a conversation with you?" "This doesn't feel like a conversation. this feels like you're talking at me and telling me to do something when I'm busy doing something else, i already sail i will ask her when I'm done with the dishes" He goes off again about my attitude. He reminds me of a time I had a meltdown on a trip to San Francisco with him when I was 17. Says I'm acting the same way. I was a child then. At this point I'm upset. I've had a long few weeks, I'm at my wits end with them both so i explode. I go off about it not being my responsibility to make sure hes happy and she's good, I am not in a relationship with either of them. My dad tries to intimidate me with his body to get me to stop crying. I feel tiny all over again. This was my day off, too. I didn't want to be in this situation and yet here I am, 31, crying in my parents house because I think my parents don't love me. No money, no prospects. Stuck. Here. Again. And now I feel so much sadness and remorse because I'm the asshole who lost her shit.
Fuck this, man.

2023.06.07 04:01 DavidDawnDeluxe When it comes to asking someone out, don't think that tomorrow will be a better time to do it than today!

Hi, David here!
It's almost always better to ask someone out as soon as you know that you are interested in them.
If you keep putting it off for weeks and months, then you are only further hurting your chances of being successful.
A woman wants a confident man who is not afraid to ask her out. The confidence itself being the very thing that contributes most to a man's attractiveness. A woman can often detect that you like her, so any hesitance or fear to make a move detracts from your image.
In addition, the more 'secretly' infatuated and invested that you become in a person, the harder it will be for you to act confidently and normal around them. Again detracting from your chances of being successful.
If your interest in someone gets to the point where asking them out feels like a big confession of love moment, then in most cases it is not going to end well.
The best time to act was yesterday, the next best time is today.

Adding to that, I just finished putting together my dating eBook "How to Date Any Girl" version 4.0 and would LOVE to get some honest feedback from you!

2023.06.07 03:48 yukiimaru23 One story for that one redditor.

I (20F) am writing this out of my agony and heartbreak. I dedicated this to someone (25M) I met here on reddit last March that probably turned into a mere stranger who knows my secrets. He was just 6 years my senior. If you're reading this, I hope your life now is much better and happier. You know, I still read the comic you gave on my birthday and I hope you looked at the music box I gave you and it would remind you of me.
Maybe you're reading this on your freetime or during work. I want you to know I miss you so much that my heart craves for your hugs that you refused to give last saturday afternoon. Your responses too were icy cold and dry, that made my sister and my best friend wondering if ever na magjowa pa ba tayo? Kasi they told me para kang naiilang while I waited in line.
I am still awake at 5 am— clinging in the hopes na magrereply or tatawag ka pa ba or hindi na. Pero it's just very rude of you to simply iwanan ako sa ere, left me drowning in the sea of uncertainty. My sister advised me na lay low muna ako and not chase you. But these won't stop me to write a mere story about our tragic flame that quickly extinguished in the span of 2 months, di natin alam if ever liliyab pa to ulit.
I am still wondering if your promises you said na di mo ako iiwan because I suffered too much are just empty words? I am already suffering as my thoughts running nonstop and all I need is reassurance from you, pero ano nakuha ko? Dry replies and more questions for myself to doubt to.
Anyways, enough abt this, here's one story dedicated for you.
C/W s*icide sa story.
In a quaint coastal town nestled between towering cliffs and the vast expanse of the sea, lived a young woman named Marianna. With a heart filled with boundless dreams and a soul drenched in romanticism, she longed for a love that would ignite her spirit and fill her existence with joy. Fate, in its unpredictable nature, led Marianna to a chance encounter with a sailor named Thomas.
Marianna, with her mesmerizing hazel eyes and an infectious smile, caught Thomas's attention as they crossed paths one fateful day. He was a man of the sea, weathered by countless voyages and adventures. Their connection was instantaneous, a magnetic pull drawing them together. They soon discovered a shared passion for literature, and it became the cornerstone of their budding relationship.
Every month, on a designated day, Marianna and Thomas would rendezvous at a cozy café nestled along a cobblestone street. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee mingled with the warmth of their conversations, creating an ambiance of comfort and familiarity. From there, they would wander hand in hand to a charming bookstore, where they would lose themselves amidst the shelves, engrossed in tales of love, loss, and adventure.
Their shared love for books soon blossomed into a love for each other. When Thomas sailed away on his nautical voyages, Marianna's heart ached with longing. But they refused to let distance dim the flame that burned within them. Their correspondence became a lifeline, a testament to the strength of their love. Letters filled with heartfelt confessions, poetic declarations, and promises of eternal devotion bridged the gap between land and sea.
On Marianna's twentieth birthday, her heart fluttered with anticipation. She yearned for a celebration that would fill the void left by her own family, who seemed oblivious to her tender soul. And there, in the familiar embrace of the café, Thomas appeared with a mischievous smile, bearing a gift wrapped in delicate paper. It was one of his treasured books, adorned with a note that whispered of endless tales and shared adventures. Marianna's eyes sparkled with gratitude and love as she embraced the precious gift, treasuring the significance it held.
The day unfolded like a dream. Thomas took her hand, leading her on a journey of enchantment. They wandered through quaint streets, where the world seemed to fade away, leaving only their entwined souls. He taught her the art of shooting with a gun, a skill that bonded them even further. They strolled along the sun-kissed shoreline, their laughter and whispered secrets carried away by the gentle breeze.
As twilight painted the sky in hues of orange and pink, they found solace in a secluded hut, seeking respite from the world. In that haven, their desire and passion collided like crashing waves. They surrendered to the intensity of their love, words no longer able to convey the depth of their longing. Their bodies intertwined, hearts beating in unison, and in that moment, they felt a transcendence that only true lovers can know.
But as the weeks rolled by, an inexplicable change swept over their once vibrant love. The passionate letters that had once ignited their souls became scarce, devoid of the fervor and tenderness they had known. Marianna's heart, once buoyed by Thomas's affectionate words, now sank into a sea of uncertainty.
Anxiety gnawed at Marianna's fragile heart, pushing her to seek answers. They met again, amidst the joyful chaos of a vibrant festival. The atmosphere crackled with excitement, but a cold wind blew between them. The once radiant Thomas treated her with indifference, his eyes devoid of the spark that once captivated her. The pain of his aloofness seared through her, leaving her trembling with unspoken fears.
Summoning every ounce of courage, Marianna confronted Thomas, her voice quivering with desperation. Tears welled in her eyes as she pleaded for clarity, for a semblance of the love they once shared. But Thomas, like a sailor evading treacherous waters, deflected her questions, his gaze drifting into the distance. The ache in her chest deepened as he recoiled from her touch, a stark contrast to the warmth they had once shared. Her invitation to a future festival was met with a dismissive rejection, the final blow to her fragile hope.
With her heart shattered and no solace to be found, Marianna retreated into a desolate world of her own making. She penned her final letters, ink stained with the tears of a love unfulfilled. She poured her soul into every word, expressing her unwavering love for Thomas, yet grappling with the haunting question that plagued her every thought: Did he truly love her as he had professed? She reminded him of the promises they had woven, the vows of unyielding devotion that had bound them. Alongside the letters, Marianna placed a meticulously crafted music box—a token of their love, an embodiment of the melodies that once danced between them. Inside its delicate lid, the words "La vie en rose" were etched, a symbol of the vibrant world they had painted together.
With trembling hands, Marianna sent her final tokens of love into the world, never to be retrieved. A heavy veil of sorrow draped over her, obscuring the once radiant light within. She then retreated to the riverbank, her footsteps heavy with the weight of her despair. The moon shone brightly overhead, casting an ethereal glow upon her fragile figure as she gazed at the shimmering waters below.
In a white nightgown, she stood at the water's edge, her heart pounding with both longing and despair. The weight of unanswered questions and unfulfilled promises bore down upon her fragile frame. She longed for an escape from the torment that consumed her, a release from the suffocating grip of unrequited love. With one last glance at the starry sky, Marianna succumbed to the frigid embrace of the river, surrendering to its relentless current.
As the water swallowed her, Marianna's existence faded into the depths, her once vibrant spirit silenced forevermore.

Imagine growing up in those television markets, and you didn't have cable or satellite TV. What do you remember watching? Did your local ABC station preempted Kim Possible and Power Rangers? Remember watching some awesome Pokemon episodes on The WB?
I grew up in a small TV market, and my Fox affiliate luckily carried The FoxBox and 4Kids TV programming blocks, but I mainly watched ABC Kids with my sisters since they loved Disney, and my ABC affiliate aired both Kim Possible and Power Rangers. My area couldn't get The WB over the air. The only options to watch Kids' WB is either get cable, which came with The WB 100+ channel, or through the satellite TV service Dish Network, which includes three local WB station feeds (WPIX 11 NYC, KTLA 5 LA, and KWGN-TV 2 Denver) as part of the superstation package with a $5/mo extra charge.
Since I lived in the Mountain time zone, the best choice for Kids' WB is by watching it on KWGN-TV on Dish since the promos used the correct time slots. It's also the best place to watch the DIC show Sabrina: The Animated Series and later Sabrina's Secret Life on that channel 30 minutes before the Kids' WB AfterToons block aired. The WB 100+ preempted Sabrina at the end of 2004 with the full week of Liberty's Kids, and they discontinued the entire DIC block in late 2005 on that channel unlike the regular WB stations where they aired Sabrina from Mondays to Wednesdays and Liberty's Kids from Thursdays to Saturdays until September 2006.
But the main topic about this post is that is there anyone here who grew up in those TV markets where 4Kids was not picked up on any of the TV stations. I felt heartbroken when I found out reruns of Sabrina: The Animated Series wasn't picked up on my local stations after 2002 or even picked up Sabrina's Secret Life until my local Fox station finally picked up the series in late 2006. Reruns of Sabrina and Sabrina's Secret Life skipped the majority of the episodes when it aired on CBS from 2006 to 2011. I'm aware that they aired Sabrina on Disney Channel and Toon Disney until 2004, and Sabrina's Secret Life on Toon Disney in late 2004, but I didn't had cable or satellite after mid-2004. Pluto TV even skipped the majority of the episodes of Sabrina: The Animated Series.
I'm also sad that I couldn't get to watch Pokemon either without cable or satellite.
If you did grew up in those television markets without 4Kids TV, do you regret growing up in those areas? You wouldn't be familiar with Sonic X, Kirby, or any of those shows until TheCW4Kids was debuted in 2008. Greenwood, MS residents wouldn't access The CW over the air at all. The Ninja Turtles and Winx Club first-ran on the Cartoon Network block Miguzi in the mid-2000s.
If you're aware of any of this, comment your experience about how you grew up in a small market or a market where your local stations didn't carry Kids' WB or 4Kids TV, or that they didn't air Power Rangers on your ABC affiliate.

Really love having to carry your team
Me and this t54 were basically the only ones doing anything this battle, it’s a constant nowadays when it seems like I’m the only one doing something, I do love getting a good teammate every once and a while like this guy.

2023.06.07 03:36 Throwaway6276371 TW, abuse and tranphobia. Where to go in your gender during following childhood abuse?

Hi all,
This is very long so I apologise: as a child, from my earliest moments, I was a "tomboy." I only played with boys. I only played with toys geared toward boys. I wore "boys" clothing, wanted a buzzcut, and would cry that I didn't have a penis. etc etc. Through and through I felt like I was a boy.
My parents were always more or less okay with this in private although admit it brought a lot of scrutiny from within our community. This, "it's just a phase" belief by my parents ended by the time I was about 10 or 11.
Around this time I had a teacher who gave me a new name. For anonymity, I'll say, Chad. I loved it as it was a fusion of my first and last name and everyone began calling me this at school. This carried on until my parents watched a 60 Minutes piece about trans kids and it all changed from there. My mum met with my teacher and students without me present and told them to stop calling me "Chad" and that the boys weren't to play with me at lunchtime. I only found this happened when I was about 21. At the time it was confusing how I went from close friendships and acceptance to being alone and laughed at.
If we went to buy clothes, I would pick them from the boy's section and my mum would tell me I looked dirty, ugly, embarrassing etc. Made to switch to what a "typical girl" would do. If I kicked up a fuss I would be hit and degraded until I went along. I was no stranger to being hit, my parents emotionally and physically abuse one another and I was physically and emotionally abused. However, this seemed to have affected me on a different, self-loathing, long-term level.
Presently, I'm 25, I dress androgynously. I feel disgusting in feminine clothing because that's "not me" and I'm uncomfortable in masculine clothing because I feel like a laughing stock. I've worn my hair up for the past 14 years whenever in public because having it down is too feminine and to cut it short would be too masculine. On top of that, I carry a great deal of both jealousy and negative judgments toward other people's gender expression. I am jealous of their courage, their chance to be who they are. For the negativity, all the negative inputs I've had just get projected, I think about them as attention seekers, cringe, and losers. I sincerely hate these thoughts and feel so guilty that they pass through my head but it is how I feel.
I often consider gender counseling to help break down the internalised transphobia and better understand myself. However, I don't want anyone to impart their perspective on my very fragile sense of self, I don't want to take away from someone who needs that appointment more than I do and I'm scared to begin a process that may create scary outcomes- ones which I judge others for.
This is the shortest synopsis I can make without anything too triggering. At the end of the day, I don't feel like I "fit" anywhere and not because I'm innately that way, making NB feel disingenuine. I know not fitting anywhere, not using pronouns etc are options but those don't help the hurt and bettering myself.
To those with similar experiences, what helped? How did you navigate this? How do you develop when everything makes you scared of your own judgment and the judgment of others? Is there anything else you can do outside of gender counseling?
Thank you!

2023.06.07 03:31 bunny_mama_ 365 days post-smartphone

Hit a big milestone this week! One full year without a smartphone. It's honestly gone really smoothly and I'm so grateful to have had the last year with my silly little flip phone. Ultimately I've made the decision to switch back to a smartphone but I am hoping to carry over some of the wonderful habits I've developed over the last year. If anyone cares to read, here are some of the things I really appreciate about my current lifestyle:
- I never wake up with my phone. The only tech I (sometimes) wake up with is my kindle. If even that.
- I don't always need my phone with me. If someone else in the group has a phone and is accessible, I often choose to leave my phone at home all together.
- Silence. I can sit alone with my own thoughts and feel completely okay with it. Even in public, if I don't have anything to do I am happy to just sit. Nothing else. What a foreign feeling and concept that was at the beginning of this year.
- I can give things my full attention. Books, TV, conversations... My mind can remain in one place for the full duration of the activity being experienced. And, no, I [almost] never ignore my tablemates to check my phone when I sit down to eat with others.
- I don't need to get Pinterest-worthy photos of every single thing that I do. Along with that, I don't feel the need to share every single thing that I do with other people. When I do things, more often than not, I do it for myself and my family rather than to impress other people.
- I can remember things. I'm not sure I'd ever done it before this year. I don't think I've ever had to. I've impressed myself with my own ability to remember the important things that I need to do without a calendar reminder or timed text message telling me to do it. This last year has provided me with a lot of faith in my own capabilities that I never had before.
Things I am excited about switching back to a smartphone for:
- Ease of travel. For the last year I have been very weary and uncomfortable travelling to new places alone without GPS. The times I had to do it I made it work, but it's a lot of added anxiety that maybe isn't exactly necessary.
- PHOTOS. I have virtually no photos or documentation from the last year of my life. While it has been a blessing not to feel the incessant need to document everything, I really wish I had more photos to look back on the last year of my life. (And, to be completely truthful with you, not having any nice photos or selfies of myself has been a little bit of a hit to my self confidence... Love my husband to death but I look like absolute garbage in every picture he takes of me LOL).
- Lastly, in order to log into anything you need to jump through SO MANY LOOPHOLES. I am so excited to have all my 'devices' in one place so I can stop running frantically around the house to get my phone so I can type in the stupid codes they text to me so I can log into my stupid accounts. It's a small inconvenience but I'll be so glad to be done with it.

All in all I 100%, 10/10 recommend the experience of going for the flip phone if it's something you're interested in. This experience has taught me so many good healthy tech habits and boundaries that I hope I can continue to carry on through the next part of my digital minimalism journey.

2023.06.07 03:30 VineViridian When therapy can help our demographic, and complex trauma as "Emotional Leprosy": some musings...

TL; DR: Therapy can be safe for those with severe trauma, minority status, low income, extreme lack of support if we are able to trust our gut & stay with any therapist no more than 2 years at the extreme longest. Trauma responses carry a stigma akin to leprosy, so those wounds must only be shown among our own "colonies".
We become objects of contempt to therapists eventually. The emotional leprosy is an annoying drain on societally functioning people. Our wounds are unsightly, we become abhorrent if they are made visible.
Last year, I believed that my past therapist was exceptionally awful. I still know them to be terrible, but I also now know how common their response to emotional leprosy really is. If I would have only stayed a year instead of becoming addicted to their validation, received the CPTSD diagnosis, & left before they saw my ugly wounds and expressed their disgust, I would have been fine. But I didn't know any better. I didn't know how CMH is a puppy mill for baby therapists. I didn't know that "trauma informed" is a marketing buzzword.
Recovery from leprosy can take a couple of years. Recovery from deep trauma without a loving support system and financial security takes much longer. We don't need to be ashamed of our wounds, but it's best for our wellbeing to keep them hidden from the haters.
