Morning,
I’m in the process of stripping the bannister in my house and to my surprise I’ve found some rather beautiful wood underneath several layers of paint.
I’m now planning on restoring the bannister instead of painting it and I ask ye industrious DIYers what is your preferred sandpaper manufacturer? I’ll be sanding by hand the whole bannister including the spindles up to around 320(maybe higher depending on how it looks) and then varnishing.
I’m thinking of splashing out on some of the Mirka abranet stuff but thought I’d canvas opinions first.

Ive been socially transitioning for about 6 months now. Starting hrt next month. I actually decided to delay it cause of a trip and I thought I needed more time to reflect. I also had a lot going on (uni, work, getting married).
One thing I noticed when I started to dress up was that I was being hyper feminine. I've read about this. Its an overcompensation for all time we couldnt express it. I wanted to wear cute petite clothes, silky fabrics and short skirts. I'm tall, like 186cm. So as cute as I felt, I probably looked ridiculous.
I started to wonder if their was authenticity here, or was it all just a fantasy and wanting to become something I wasn't. I battled with this for a few months before it hit me one day when I was at the gym. I was trying to become my fantasy that has always in my head, not who I actually was. I wasn't trying to become the girl version of me, I was trying to become someone else.
I'm still trying to find her, my authentic self, but I'm getting closer. Instead of tight pencil skirts and undersized clothing I'm looking into leather jackets and punk aesthetics. It feels right. I'm covered in what people would call metal style tattoos. I tried to deny them when I came out, saying they weren't me, but they are.
I'd like to hear about other peoples experiences on finding their authentic self. Did it take you long? How similar or different was it from your past self? I for one, did not expect my female self to just be a more edgy cooler version of me but with tits.

LESSON 155. I will step back and let Him lead the way.
There is a way of living in the world that is not here, although it seems to be. You do not change appearance, though you smile more frequently. Your forehead is serene; your eyes are quiet. And the ones who walk the world as you do recognize their own. Yet those who have not yet perceived the way will recognize you also, and believe that you are like them, as you were before. The world is an illusion. Those who choose to come to it are seeking for a place where they can be illusions, and avoid their own reality. Yet when they find their own reality is even here, then they step back and let it lead the way. What other choice is really theirs to make? To let illusions walk ahead of truth is madness. But to let illusion sink behind the truth and let the truth stand forth as what it is, is merely sanity.
This is the simple choice we make today. The mad illusion will remain awhile in evidence, for those to look upon who chose to come, and have not yet rejoiced to find they were mistaken in their choice. They cannot learn directly from the truth, because they have denied that it is so. And so they need a Teacher Who perceives their madness, but Who still can look beyond illusion to the simple truth in them.
If truth demanded they give up the world, it would appear to them as if it asked the sacrifice of something that is real. Many have chosen to renounce the world while still believing its reality. And they have suffered from a sense of loss, and have not been released accordingly. Others have chosen nothing but the world, and they have suffered from a sense of loss still deeper, which they did not understand.
Between these paths there is another road that leads away from loss of every kind, for sacrifice and deprivation both are quickly left behind. This is the way appointed for you now. You walk this path as others walk, nor do you seem to be distinct from them, although you are indeed. Thus can you serve them while you serve yourself, and set their footsteps on the way that God has opened up to you, and them through you.
Illusion still appears to cling to you, that you may reach them. Yet it has stepped back. And it is not illusion that they hear you speak of, nor illusion that you bring their eyes to look on and their minds to grasp. Nor can the truth, which walks ahead of you, speak to them through illusions, for the road leads past illusion now, while on the way you call to them, that they may follow you.
All roads will lead to this one in the end. For sacrifice and deprivation are paths that lead nowhere, choices for defeat, and aims that will remain impossible. All this steps back as truth comes forth in you, to lead your brothers from the ways of death, and set them on the way to happiness. Their suffering is but illusion. Yet they need a guide to lead them out of it, for they mistake illusion for the truth.
Such is salvation’s call, and nothing more. It asks that you accept the truth, and let it go before you, lighting up the path of ransom from illusion. It is not a ransom with a price. There is no cost, but only gain. Illusion can but seem to hold in chains the holy Son of God. It is but from illusions he is saved. As they step back, he finds himself again.
Walk safely now, yet carefully, because this path is new to you. And you may find that you are tempted still to walk ahead of truth, and let illusions be your guide. Your holy brothers have been given you, to follow in your footsteps as you walk with certainty of purpose to the truth. It goes before you now, that they may see something with which they can identify; something they understand to lead the way.
Yet at the journey’s ending there will be no gap, no distance between truth and you. And all illusions walking in the way you travelled will be gone from you as well, with nothing left to keep the truth apart from God’s completion, holy as Himself. Step back in faith and let truth lead the way. You know not where you go. But One Who knows goes with you. Let Him lead you with the rest.
When dreams are over, time has closed the door on all the things that pass and miracles are purposeless, the holy Son of God will make no journeys. There will be no wish to be illusion rather than the truth. And we step forth toward this, as we progress along the way that truth points out to us. This is our final journey, which we make for everyone. We must not lose our way. For as truth goes before us, so it goes before our brothers who will follow us.
We walk to God. Pause and reflect on this. Could any way be holier, or more deserving of your effort, of your love and of your full intent? What way could give you more than everything, or offer less and still content the holy Son of God? We walk to God. The truth that walks before us now is one with Him, and leads us to where He has always been. What way but this could be a path that you would choose instead?
Your feet are safely set upon the road that leads the world to God. Look not to ways that seem to lead you elsewhere. Dreams are not a worthy guide for you who are God’s Son. Forget not He has placed His Hand in yours, and given you your brothers in His trust that you are worthy of His trust in you. He cannot be deceived. His trust has made your pathway certain and your goal secure. You will not fail your brothers nor your Self.
And now He asks but that you think of Him a while each day, that He may speak to you and tell you of His Love, reminding you how great His trust; how limitless His Love. In your Name and His Own, which are the same, we practice gladly with this thought today:

I know many people here (like myself) struggle with keeping up with the hygiene instilled in us by society so shortcuts are pretty useful.
Hand knitted socks tend to keep your feet comfortable (warm when it's cold, not too hot when it's warmer), dry and smell free. You can wear them more than one day and don't need to wash your feet daily to keep them clean and smell free. They are also customizable depending on preferred leg length and if someone has small or wide feet and small or wide legs.

I'm more than happy to knit socks for anyone who thinks this would help them, provided they cover the material and shipping (I'm waiting for my disability to go trough so am not in the best financial position) and have some patience (a pair of socks takes me a week to a month to make depending on how my own health is and the shoe size, leg length and degree of customization.
My idea was that once someone paid for the material I'll buy the material, provide proof of that, knit the socks, provide picture proof of the socks being done and then get the shipping money to send them out. This is the system that seems safest to me but I'm more than willing to improve it if someone has a better idea.

I was never a vegan, but my diet was basically lacto occasionally ovo vegetarian for a few years. My neck cramped up from high stress and moved my throat, making it impossible to swallow substantial foods. Now that I've been able to eat whole foods again for about a year and a half, everything but my dry skin (and hairline) has improved immensely. That's when I found out about tallow based skincare.
You can buy tallow based products, but I've just been using some of the grass fed stuff I deep fry with. I've only used it twice this fortnight, but the results have astounded me.
- No more cracked feet or heels.
- My sandpaper knuckles are smooth again.
- The inflamed eczema type rashes and dry skin on my shins and ankles has cleared up almost completely.
- My face is no longer molting. It feels so smooth and some of the wrinkles formed through the stress and deficient diet have gotten better.
- It makes for a great lip balm. Since it doesn't have a novel length ingredient list, you also don't have to buy separate products or worry about getting it in your mouth if you eat after applying some.
- It's only greasy if you use too much, and a little goes a long way, making it great value for money as well. My hands are ready to use within about ten minutes after rubbing it in.

She eventually showed up at 3AM, and I couldn't help but notice some signs that suggested she had slept with this guy. When I confronted her, she denied it, and I chose to pretend I believed her and moved on.
Fast forward to now, we're actually dating, and after persistently asking her about that night, she finally admitted to sleeping with him. I understand that we weren't exclusive at the time, but it's difficult for me to get past the fact that she lied to me so convincingly. I can't help but wonder if she would do the same in the future and hide things from me. She argues that it shouldn't be an issue since we weren't exclusive, which is technically true.
However, knowing how far she went to cover up her actions, I can't help but worry that she might do it again and lie about it. What are your thoughts?

I’ve read through a few other threads and saw recommendations for how to handle your toddler hitting you. One of the common themes is walking away or removing yourself from the situation. However, do any of you have tips for when doing so would seem more like reward (or maybe I’m looking at this wrong)?
For example, my daughter just turned 2 and usually fights us for diaper changes. We’ll calmly talk to her and tell her it’s time for a change, we try making it fun, singing songs, etc. She never comes willingly so we have to pick her up and that is when the flailing, crying and hitting/kicking starts. If I put her down and walk away, wouldn’t that be giving her what she wants and just delaying the inevitable?
Other situations I can think of are if we have to quickly remove her from somewhere for a safety issue, like if she tries running into a street or parking lot. Cue the hitting and kicking, and obviously those situations are never ones where WE could walk away.
