2023.06.07 05:20 Hypnotodd_Mk2 Trying to Remember a Film

Hi everyone So I'm trying to remember the name of a Taiwanese film. It's about a musician who's in Taipei, then hates it and rides his bike down to Kenting or Koasuing or somewhere in the south. He works as a postman for a bit and then the local town is having a music festival on the beach and he has to join the band. There's also a famous (real) musician in the film who's playing in the music festival. Anyway, it has lots of rock music in it and I like the sound track. Also one of the songs from it is quite famous and is at KTV - so I want to learn to sing it in Chinese so in have at least 1 non English song I can do at KTV. Please let me know if you think you know the film name! Also it's a little old, maybe from early 2000's or so as a guess. Cheers

2023.06.07 05:19 Dreamer98294 Regression occurring at 2-3.5 years old

Anyone here have a child that no matter how much therapy (Speech, OT, feeding, ABA, music for us) and time working with them at home, (level 3 in my sons case) the progress isn’t there … in fact, they seem further behind then they did a year or two ago?
My son seemed much further ahead at 2. He could do the motions for if you’re happy and you know it while I sang it, he could point to animals in a book when asked, he could give high fives, he was more engaged and more willing to try new foods and explore new things / toys.
My son now has a much more limited diet, is more rigid, ignores us when we ask him questions, wants to be alone, jumps up and down and runs in circle so much…
I hear so much early intervention is key but is it for all kids? I wonder if some day my son will make a ton of progress or if perhaps he has reached his full potential already.
Adore him no matter what just curious if anyone can relate or if there’s anything we can do to help him progress instead of regress. I also wonder if he could have fragile x as I heard sometimes regression occurs with fragile x.
Best wishes to all!

2023.06.07 05:18 Immediate_Offer_512 Questions about mystery snails

Sorry in advance, Im new to reddit. I was looking to get a mystery snail. I want to learn more about how to care for them. Here are my questions: 1. How big of a tank would I need for a single mystery snail? and is there a specific type of water heater I should get? 2. If I only had one, would it get lonely? 3. Would I need a filter, or just a bubbler? 4. What size of bubbler should I get? 5. Should I get live plants for it? 6. Is it okay to feed the snail algae wafers, veggies, cuttlebone, and small amounts of fish food?

2023.06.07 05:17 sleepdepriveddumbass Looking for work

Actively looking for a new job in town, and having a hard time getting call backs when applying on Indeed. I do currently have a job but its not ideal as I am looking for some full time hours for summer and they can't offer that to me. Wishful thinking but I'm kind of hoping someone here can connect me to something haha. I have experience in retail, fast food, childcare, and reception/concierge. I'm open to factory work, but maybe my lack of experience is affecting my applications. Any advice would be appreciated!

2023.06.07 05:16 ConfusedAussie23 What's the obsession with the Aged Pension?

A lot of people seem to view the Aged Pension as the holy grail seemingly forgetting what it fundamentally is: welfare. In other words, you failed to achieve a self funded retirement and as such the government, who does not like spending money on welfare recipients as evidenced by the fact our disabled and unemployed receive payments below the poverty line, are forced to give you a handout to make sure you can keep the lights on and put food on the table.
Now I thought Australians were generally hard working people who shunned handouts unless absolutely necessary and yet, through my anecdotal experience, this does not seem to be the case whatsoever.
It seems every month in the finance columns in the newspaper, I read about a millionaire couple writing in to ask the 'finance expert' if and how they can access the pension. You have people taking advantage of gifting rules, the fact the PPOR is exempt from the assets test and blowing money on experiences to shift their finances around in a way that makes them eligible per se, despite the fact they could clearly have retired without government assistance. I also think it's an absolute joke a pensioner can live in a million dollar house and have almost $300k in the bank. They clearly can support themselves but the pension will, at which point their beneficiaries will inherit a tax free estate the taxpayer contributed towards. We're talking about a millionaire on welfare. I also think it is trite to say there are people out there who will make no effort at all to save for retirement even though they could as the pension will always be there to bail them out.
Some of the rationalisations I have heard from the pensioners are the following:
"I have worked hard and paid taxes my whole life" – except working hard and paying taxes is not a prerequisite to access the pension. Some of the hardest working people who have paid far more taxes than these pensioners probably even earned in their life aren't eligible for a pension, so this is irrational.
"I have paid into the system my whole life, and I'm getting out what I put in" – let's assume John Smith dropped out of school at age 14 and earned the equivalent of $60k annually in today's money until age 67. That's 53 years of working. Under the current tax system over 53 years he paid $586,551 in income tax. Based on my income tax receipt last year, 14% of income tax went towards the pension. John therefore 'paid' $82,117 towards 'his pension'. He only needs to be on the pension for just under 2 years before he 'exhausts' what he 'contributed' and yet statistically he will be on it for another 14 years. Therefore, it cannot be said that pensioners 'get out' what they 'put in', notwithstanding there's no right to do so in the first place.
"It's not welfare, it's a right." – well it is welfare, as it's means tested. If it’s a right, why can’t Gina Rinehart claim it?
Now I completely understand there are people out there that legitimately need the pension, such as people who had their life savings scammed or simply could never have built a nest egg. However, the fact that we have people, particularly middle class people, openly proud to be on welfare and sometimes rearranging their finances to receive it, I find as alarming. It wouldn't be socially acceptable for a job seeker to be on unemployment if they could help themselves by easily getting a job, let alone boast about being on it, would it? Welfare is considered a social security net, so why do people walk around and tell everyone who will listen they're on it as if it's something to be proud of? Can anyone please tell me what I must be missing?

2023.06.07 05:15 lavenbutter Struggling to Contribute to Roth IRA as a Broke College Student - Seeking Advice

Hey everyone,
I'm a broke college student who has managed to fully contribute to my Roth IRA for the past 2 years. However, now that I've started my free-paid internship, I'm unable to work full-time, which means I can't fully contribute for 2023. While I'm grateful to live with my dad and not have to worry about bills other than food and gas, I'm now living off my savings and struggling to contribute to my retirement account.
To make matters worse, I'm tempted to withdraw from my Roth IRA to travel abroad. I know it's not the smartest move, but I hate not being prepared. I just don't want to miss out on experiencing new cultures and places while I am young.
Does anyone have any advice for me? Should I prioritize my Roth IRA contributions or give in to my wanderlust and withdraw from it? I'm open to any suggestions and would love to hear your thoughts. Thank you in advance!

2023.06.07 05:15 Short_Ad_9383 Needing realistic help

Hey community I’m knew to the group and I apologize if something like this has already been asked but how do you guys realistically stick to diet and exercise for large amounts of weight to lose. I have a goal in mind and it’s well over 100 pounds but I never stick to it. I just feel so overwhelmed thinking I’m stuck eating boring bland diet food for the rest of my life. Also some weeks I don’t lose as much as others or at all even though I’m doing the same thing. Also I have a horrible soda addiction so any practical advice would be greatly appreciated!

2023.06.07 05:15 somefuckingrando What's your "accidental genius" meal?

Like, do you have a meal you threw together at the last minute that ended up becoming a favorite?
For example, I'd planned on baking bratwurst with sauerkraut and onions tonight, but I didn't realize the meat wasn't in casings since it was frozen and wrapped in butcher's paper. I ended up breaking it up and frying it in a skillet with saurkraut and onions and melting swiss cheese on top when it was done. I threw it on some frozen fries with a mustard and sweet pickle sauce, and it turned out fantastic. This will probably end up being a go-to lazy junk food dinner for me.
What are y'all's unexpectedly delicious recipes?

2023.06.07 05:14 Resident_Umpire3995 GERD food and drink recommendations?(check post)

I have recently been having bad nausea but would be able to control it and take it down to mild nausea. I’ve been prescribed 2 medications for my reflux symptoms but my nausea still tends to be there most of the time. During the morning is where I feel my best while my afternoon tends to be bad, I ate a low fat probiotic yogurt in the morning after taking my medication and ate a oats and valley granola bar which was perfectly fine but when I did the same during the afternoon it didn’t feel so great…I fell back to my best state after eating white rice and chicken before but ended up taking a bite of some fatty food with cheese and it sent me back to my bad state plus my anxiety tends to spark a little bit cause of it but I would be able to manage it. I eat a small amount of my crackers which helps but still struggle to find drinks as well because it seems like my water intake is low whenever I have nausea or haven’t ate anything for 3-6 hours. Any recommendations would help.

2023.06.07 05:14 Michellesis The process for reading the I Ching

Title: Interpreting the I Ching: Unveiling the Procedure
Introduction: The I Ching, an ancient Chinese divination system, holds profound wisdom and offers guidance in navigating life's uncertainties. Its interpretation process is crucial to unlocking its enigmatic messages. By determining the specific issue at hand, grasping the hexagrams' emotional nuances, and asking pertinent questions before casting the coins or yarrow sticks, one can delve deeper into the rich tapestry of the I Ching's responses.
Understanding the Issue: The initial step in interpreting the I Ching is identifying the issue that requires guidance. With millions of potential outcomes, the I Ching's 3600 hexagrams and their variations demand precision. By pinpointing the core problem, the interpretation gains relevance and specificity. Exploring the Hexagrams: Within the vast array of hexagrams, the I Ching reveals its wisdom through 16 inner hexagrams. These inner hexagrams characterize present or future emotional states, shedding light on the nature of the answer. By understanding which emotional aspects are being addressed, one can grasp the essence of the response. Expansion or Essential Focus: Given the limited number of hexagrams relative to the countless potential outcomes, interpreting the I Ching requires an approach that accommodates the situation at hand. The answer must either expand to encompass the predicted events or focus solely on the essential elements. This crucial step ensures a comprehensive yet concise understanding of the response.Prior Questioning:
To enhance the accuracy of the interpretation, it is advisable to dedicate time to asking questions about the situation before casting the coins or yarrow sticks. This preliminary exploration provides clarity and context, setting the stage for a more insightful interpretation of the I Ching's messages. Conclusion: Interpreting the I Ching is a profound journey into the realm of ancient wisdom. By carefully determining the specific issue, grasping the emotional nuances inherent in the hexagrams, and asking pertinent questions beforehand, individuals can unlock the hidden meaning behind the I Ching's responses. Through this systematic procedure, the I Ching becomes a reliable guide in navigating the complexities of life, offering timeless insights and invaluable direction.

2023.06.07 05:13 Every-Cut-563 The Slasher In the woods

Forgive me If my Writing is a little off
I am a 20 year old Male. I live in a Small Quiet Town in The State Of ohio. One day I Decided I Wanted To Go camping in the Woods Because I'm A Outdoors Type of Person And I could use the fresh air. My Girlfriend Tiffany wasn't thrilled at the idea so I went alone. Fast forward to a day later, I made it to the woods and Found A Nice Clearing in the shape of a circle surrounded by trees. It seemed like The perfect place to set up my Camp
As I Was Setting Up my Tent, I thought I heard Footsteps Off In The Distance. I Shrugged My shoulders Thinking It Was Another Camper nearby And Went Back to Setting up my tent.
There's A Lake Not to far from Where My Camp Was, so I went Over to the lake with My fishing pole And Started Fishing. After I was done, I Began Walking Back To my Camp. That's When Noticed Something I Didn't Notice Before.
It Was A Poster of a Missing Girl. She Had Blonde Curly Hair, Blue Eyes And She Had A Huge Smile On Her Face. The Poster Read "Have you seen This girl?". After Reading The Poster, I Had A Uneasy Feeling in my stomach.
I Put My Hand On My Stomach And Began Walking Back To My Camp. A few Hours Later, The Sun Began To Set And I Started Making A Campfire. While Making the fire, I Started Thinking About The Poster of the Missing Girl I Saw Earlier. "I Could Only Imagine How Her Family I feeling." I Said To myself.
It Was Officially Nighttime And i Sat infront of the fire Roasting Marshmallows And Hotdogs Like A Typical Camper. As I finished Up Eating My Food, I decided I Was Time to go to sleep so i put out the fire, Entered my tent and crawled into my sleeping bag.
I Would Say A Few Hours Went by When I Suddenly Woke Up Hearing Footsteps Nearby. "Who Is That" I Thought To myself.
I pretended I Was Still Asleep as the Footsteps Walked Past the Tent But Then I Heard Another Sound. I Was The Sound Of Something Brushing Against The Tent. I Opened My Eyes, Turned My head To Where I Thought The Sound Was Coming From And Saw The Most Terrifying Thing I had Ever seen.
It Was A Silhouette of A Man Holding An object with a Long handle. I Quietly moved my head Closer And Looked At The Object's Silhouette To Find out What He Was Holding. It Was An Axe.
I Begin To quiver in fear as I see the Silhouette outside, walking around my tent. What was gonna happen to me? After a few minutes Of circling the tent, the Silhouette finally walked away.
I waited For what seemed like an eternity before I could gather courage to get out of the tent and run. I carefully zipped open the tent and began to make a break for it. I Ran for 5 minutes Straight. I then heard a Growl From Behind me. I Turned Around Slowly and Then My eyes Widened. Standing 20 feet Away, Was A Deranged Look Man. He Wore all black including A Black Leather Jacket and Biker Boots with Shiny Silver Buckles. The Most Disturbing Part Was The fact He Had Long Deep Slashes all over his Face.
He Then Gave Me A Stomach Turning Smile, Showing off His Bloody Set Of Black Teeth and Began Walking Toward Me With his Axe. That's When I Turned Back Around And Took Off All the while I Can hear the man behind me, chasing Me.
10 minutes of running went by when I Saw My Car Parked Out In the distance. I Ran to my Car, unlocked My Cardoor, got inside Then Turned on the car and Drove off. As i was Driving I Looked In the rear view mirror and saw the Man Once Again. He Was Standing In the Middle Of the road Smiling Directly at me And I Swear From Far Away I Could See Him Mouth the Words, "I know where you live".
I'm Back Home Now With My Girlfriend I Never Told Her About the encounter, but As I'm writing this though, I can Hear The Sounds Of growls And laughter Right outside my window.

2023.06.07 05:13 Affectionate_Ad5955 Lost 24 kg (55 lbs) as of today! I am not that happy because I still have to lose around 20 kg more and been battling with some health issues lately, but this seems like something!

I am a 26+ woman with hypothyroidism and PCOS, so weight has always been troublesome for me. At a point I gave up on myself and didn’t even see a doctor anymore. Then, last year I finally managed to see a doctor and found out that I weighed 104 kg (230 lbs). I couldn’t imagine that I have passed the threshold of 100 kg, but it was obvious as I already started having issues like sleep apnea and drooling while sleeping. My gynaecologist put me on metformin+inositol and asked me to lose weight asap.
I initially started the journey with keto as I have had success with it during my early 20s, but soon felt that I couldn’t eat my traditional foods and that sucked. So, I changed to a moderate carb (80-100g) diet with focus on protein. And, I subscribed to LoseIt to track my calories. I thought I would stop seeing weight loss after changing my diet, but the calories in/calories out thing did work for me.
As of now, I eat a moderate protein, moderate carb diet, sometimes I have a bit more carbs, all thanks to being diagnosed with gastritis in April. I have also found out that I have a fatty liver and a kidney cyst, weight loss is unavoidable at this point.
To date, I have lost weight through diet alone, but now it’s time to make my body work. So, from next week I have decided to join a gym, as it’s too hot to walk outside right now in my city. No progress pictures as I am still insecure about my body, and I like the anonymity.
Hoping to lose 15 more kgs (33 lbs) by the end of this year.

2023.06.07 05:13 DorialGreen864 Service dog question and restaurants (specifically Melting pot)

Hey everyone. So I have a first date with someone with a service dog for diabetes. This is my first time dating someone with a service animal (I myself have severe social anxiety) so I try to make sure everything is okay and "allowed". She wanted to go to Melting pot and I made reservations online for us this Friday.
I know based on the law, she should be allowed to take the dog in the restaurant with no problems right?
However what worried me is that people online have listed some problems because...if you have never been to Melting pot, you are basically served raw food and you cook the meal at your table.
So some people online have given bad reviews to this restaurant because they make you sit at huge 12 person tables reserved for parties which is very awkward for first date, if you have a service animal, away from other guests...
So what should I do? Should we just go as normal to restaurant because according to the law we should be allowed to dine there normally? or are there certain specific areas that require the disabilities act to be overruled I. Place of restaursnt and food safety? Like the restaurants apparently told the people online?
Thanks for the help. I appreciate any advice anyone gives me. I suppose I could call early and explain the situation...but I feel like I shouldn't have to do that if the law is clear?
But of course I will if it comes to that... just looking for guidance.
Thanks again!

2023.06.07 05:13 oboy19 PSA: AVOID FENG KEE BBQ HOUSE (Country Hills Location) GOT SCAMMED!

Yesterday went to the Feng Kee BBQ house (in country hills) to pickup some bbq pork and char sue for my partners’ and I anniversary (normally we don’t eat Chinese but our friends suggested that Chinese bbq takeout with white rice is good).
Went to the location near our house to pick up. Ordered two boxes of pork and one box of Char sue which he showed me on the till to be $51. I tapped my credit card once he presented me with the machine. I went home, ate the meal, but then noticed on my credit card it had charged me $81. So I went back today to tell them the $30 difference and he said that for the three boxes was actually $81 and that he didn’t do anything wrong? When I was explaining to him that it would have been impossible to fit that amount of meat in three boxes of the white styrofoam for $81, he said something I couldn’t understand, then shouted me out the door! Needless to say I just wanted to warn everyone about the suspect surcharge and service they give! If I wanted $81 a night fancy Asian food we would have just got AYCE sushi which probably could have been cheaper!
Stay safe Calgarians and be careful on the streets!
TLDR: Got charged extra from $51 to $81, went back to explain the discrepancy and got shouted out of butcher shop/restaurant

2023.06.07 05:12 snatcheternal Severe inability to handle painful cramps

This is incredibly embarrassing for me to talk about.
Whenever I have painful stomach cramping from diarrhea (usually), I have the worst panic attacks I ever have. It’s makes me call for help out to people while I’m in the bathroom. It’s so distressing that even suicide very temporarily crosses my mind while I’m panicking from the pain.
Tonight I’m currently paying the price for too much coffee and spicy Mediterranean food today and not enough water and smart food decisions. Luckily my girlfriend is here to help me through it.
This situation right here severely impacts my decisions to travel or leave my apartment too much. It doesn’t happen often (few times a year) but when it does am I glad to have my own bathroom nearby.
I know that everyone goes through this from time to time but I feel like no one else goes through it like me. I think my anxiety and general low pain tolerance causes it to be so much worse than it needs to be.
Does anyone else have this? Does anyone else have any tips on prevention or what to do during it?

2023.06.07 05:11 WantingLuke How can I help my sister understand she's playing the victim when she's being the abuser. Me(22M) Her(23F)

My sister and I agreed to share our parents old house, as long as we pay equally for its utilities. It was a good deal for us because she and her husband want to raise a family and need a cheap home, and I needed someone to live while I saved up for my own apartment.
Only a few months later after moving in, I ended up losing my factory job and started putting in applications for a new job. My sister and her husband were NOT happy about it, they started enforcing unspoken rules about me living with them to the point where it feels cruel. They took all my food from the cabinets and shoved them in-between their fridge and a wall, took my fridge and filled it with their own stuff so I couldn't use it, taking any of my stuff in the house and forcing it in my room, all while telling me that I'm ruining their lives because they want to start a family without me being here. It feels disingenuous to say that to me after telling me that me living with them was not issue at all.
I ended up finding another job about a few weeks later working fast food, but money is slow and it'll take a hot second before I can pay for an apartment. While I wait to get enough money, I help around the house and will pick them up groceries whenever they need some. At first it seemed totally fine, but whenever I was short on cash or needed to go to work instead of helping with chores, they just started threatening me or making fun of me. I genuinely don't mind to lend a hand or even to buy stuff for them, but whenever they turn around and say awful stuff to me the moment I can't help them, it just feels like I'm their maid when I'm just trying to be helpful.
For a long time I believed I was just the issue, that was until I finally reached out to my friends after just having enough one day. They helped me finally see that what was happening was full on abuse and that nothing about it was normal. Well, I tried to bring it up to her, and she still just belittles me and ignores me. I don't know how to communicate with her and working closing shift in a greasy restaurant only to come home to my room being the only place I can go, starts to feel sour when it's full of stuff they barely lets me walk. I've been living with her for over a year now and I honestly can't deal with the way she treats me. What can you do in a situation like this?
TLDR: My sister started acting abusive to me and will turn around and act like I'm the problem whenever I try to defend myself.
