Just a warning this will be a pretty long post :)) you’re welcome to skip to the tips if you don’t want to read it all!
Hi! i’m F20 and have had panic disorder badly for about three years with the worst of it in 2022, i had panic attacks basically daily and when i wasn’t panicking i was anxious and on edge. My Panic disorder is treatment resistant too which made finding coping skills even harder.
I wanted to share what’s been working for me as i definitely got super sick of hearing “take a deep breath” or “find 5 blue things” (totally fine if those work for you! they just don’t work for me). I’m not at all fully recovered but i think i can handle my panic pretty well now and it’s become more of an inconvenience rather than something horrible and terrifying.
Hopefully these tips can help a little, you’re not alone in your struggles and this won’t be your new forever, i promise :)

~2,000 research hours: 1 poster, 1 publication soon (won't be published in time to be included in primary, but will be sent as an update), SURP at Sinai -> All on immunological research
~150 volunteer clinical hours through palliative care volunteering at the hospital
~100 non-clinical volunteer hours as a mentor for getting underrepresented freshmen into research
~2,000+ leadership hours (Part of the Latino club on campus for all 4 years. Heavily involved and won leadership awards due to this on campus)
~500 hours TAing (Orgo, intro moleculacellular bio)
~200 hours of nonclinical employment at the library as a front-desk assistant
~120 hours of shadowing at primary immunodeficiency clinic (basically shadowed the director of the clinic and all of the fellows)

A few years ago, I went on a date with someone I met from a dating app. Before that, we were talking for maybe a month or more. When I met her in person, I guess I didn't find the spark I was looking for. A few days later, we just stopped talking.
After a year, I met another girl online. Turns out we were both sex positive. We hooked up. No spark. I tried again after a month. Still nothing. She developed feelings for me, but I told her I didn't find the spark I was looking for. Then we just stopped talking.
And recently, I met someone at my new work. At first, I just saw her as an eye candy. Until the team went out. We actually share a lot of common interests. Then we talked more at work, even discussing personal life. Eventually, she invited me to her condo to bake a cake and make espresso together which are some of our common interests.
There was a day where she had dysmenorrhea and I offered to take care of her. I went there and cooked for her while she laid on the bed reading her book. When I was done, she set the table and opened a new bottle of sparkling grape juice with matching wine glasses. It looks like a cute date. She liked my baked penne. Afterwards, we sat on her bed playing video games for hours before I went home.
I found the spark I was looking for. It's funny that I didn't actually need a dating app to find it.
I was invited to her condo for the third time. She wanted to make gnocchi from scratch which is new to the both of us. But she lacked some ingredients so we went to a nearby mall. We also browsed around the department store. It felt like we were out on a date. When we got back, we watched videos on how to make gnocchi then followed them. I'm not really sure how they should taste, so I can't tell if we were successful. But I enjoyed making them with her. Then, she made tequila lemonade cocktail for us. This time we talked about our love life until I told her I like her. She didn't believe me. I told her several reasons why. She didn't turn me down, but she didn't say it back either. Both of our love language is touch. And I got touchy with the help of her cocktails. Until I kissed her lips which led to a make out session. I wanted to stay but I have a planned and paid trip. Before leaving, I kissed her forehead. And I can't resist her soft lips so we made out again for a few seconds since my ride has arrived.
You might think we'd be together after what happened. But this is when the tables turned. After the trip, I tried to talk to her about that night but she didn't want to. Maybe she needs time to process, so I gave her time. After a few weeks, I invited her out but she already had plans. Another few weeks passed, she invited me to work at a coffee shop. With her brother. I didn't think we'd be comfortable talking about that night in front of her brother so I thought maybe we'll talk after this. Maybe we'll talk when we get to her condo. But no, she kinda told me to go home when our shift ended. So I gave her a side hug as I always do before leaving. But it felt like I was hugging a rock.
After a month of that kiss, I confessed my feelings. I even told her I'd like to pursue her. No reply.
Anyway, she got reassigned to a different team and she never talked to me again. The "semi-ghoster" gets ghosted. Yeah, I know, karma's a bitch.

Wanted to make a post dedicated to the lore of my first bleed character, Sakura.
Just full warning, I have never made a post like this before, so I'm not really sure the correct way to format it or anything, but I made a bleed character and I gave her a cool backstory and I wanted to briefly share it. I am trying to keep it lore friendly, so if my backstory interferes with in game lore at all, please let me know! So with that being said, here is a short version of what I have come up with:
Her name is Sakura, and she is the daughter of the legendary swordsman Okina. When she was born, she had to be cut out of her mother's corpse by her father. Angry with his daughter for the death of his wife, the young Okina cut the eyes from his infant daughter, causing her to grow up never knowing the sight of her homeland of Reeds. Her father eventually forgave Sakura, and he ended up teaching her everything she knows, mostly stuff about combat. Okina was a young mercenary, selling his blade to the highest bidder to be able to provide for Sakura and himself.
By the time Sakura was 8 years old, she was one of the best warriors around, despite being blind. And when she was 10, she killed her first human, a bandit trying to rob her on her way to town. Soaked in the bandits blood, she suddenly had a flash back to her birth. Covered in her mother's blood, only moments before her father cut her eyes out. And then , she started to see. Not her surroundings, but a star of blood. And from that moment on, Sakura became obsessed with blood. She told her father about her visions of the blood star, and how the very appearance of it made her yearn for another kill. Okina did not believe her, and so to prove her point, she grabbed her father's sword and slashed him across the face, blinding him. She then used his sword to cut a deep gash against the side of her mouth, and proceeded to spit up blood onto her father's face, where his eyes once were. And he too saw the blood star, and was instantly enticed by its raging red glow. Okina gathered up the best samurai he knew, telling them of his recent discovery, and the power that it promised. He then began to go town to town with his small army of warriors, spilling the blood of anything, and anyone that they would come across. The more blood spilled, the more powerful they became. The power was they gained was so great, that they even started harming themselves just to feel the might of the blood star. This led to them killing each other, until only the strongest remained. This group of bloody warriors became known as the Inaba, lead by the most blood hungry of all, Okina.
Sakura followed in her father's footsteps, going from town to town with her fellow Inaba, killing without mercy everywhere they went. Eventually, Okina began to feel the call of the Elden Ring, and was drawn back to The Lands Between, not for the throne, but for the mere prospect of tarnished blood. He ditched the Inaba, as well as Sakura on his blood soaked pursuit of power. Sakura, eager for the chance to lead the Inaba, followed her father's lead of tarnished blood to The Lands Between, along with her new army of samurai.
When they arrived in The Lands Between, Sakura and her Inaba were not disappointed. Dozens upon dozens of tarnished had returned to The Lands Between, and their blood was a perfect sacrifice for the Blood Star. But it did not take long for the Inaba to leave Sakura's side, as they searched for their true leader, Okina. Sakura continued her journey without them, killing countless tarnished in pursuit of power. And then one day, she came across a tarnished, wearing a white mask. Normally she would kill her targets swiftly, but there was something different about this one... this tarnished reeked of noble blood. After a brief conversation, she found out that the tarnished was named Varre, and that he was in service of the majestic Lord of Blood. Upon hearing this, she instantly new that that was where she would find her father. No doubt he was on his way right now to kill this Lord of Blood. In order for Sakura to be granted entry to the Lord of Bloods holy land, Varre told her she had to kill three tarnished as a sacrifice to his lord, and to also bring him a rag soaked in the blood of a maiden. Sakura completed the requirements with ease, much to Varres delight. He wasted no time anointing Sakura as a pureblood knight, in service to the Lord of Blood, the dreadful omen Mohg.
Sakura was told not to go to Mohg's holy land of blood until the time was right, but as soon as she was granted the Pureblood Knight's Medal, she used it to transport her to the land of blood, where she found Mohg's Dynasty Mausoleum. She climbed the steps of the mausoleum, killing countless of Mohg's apostles, who were not happy to see her there, until she finally reached a stone lift. When she stepped on the plate in the center of the lift, she was raised up to the highest point of the mausoleum. She stepped through an archway and walked too the end of the great hall, where she found a cacoon. Out of a crack in the cacoon stuck out a long pale, heavily weathered hand. The hand began to shift, and then blood started to pour from the cacoon. After the blood stopped pouring, lay a perfect, round puddle of blood. And out of that puddle, began to grow a figure. A huge, dark creature, with horns and an elegant trident made of gold and silver. This was Mohg, the lord of blood. Sakura started by asking the omen where her father was. Mohg cackled, and promptly told her, "Wherever the blood is." He then told her that he had been approached by Okina, who he offered the life of a demon, in service to Mohg, who would allow Okinas thirst for blood to never go unsated. Sakura, shocked that her father would swear allegiance to another, knew what she must do. Without a word, she threw her naginata into Mohg's chest, unsheathed her katana, and rushed the Lord of Blood...
The battle was quick and violent, but Sakura had beaten Mohg. Drenched in his blood, and hers, she began to have another vision. It was of the blood star again, but this time it spoke to her. It revealed itself to be the Formless Mother, an outer god who wished to rule over the lands between, instead of the Elden Ring. With Mohg dead, Sakura was granted the role of champion, in service to the formless mother. Her purpose was now clear, she had to put her god in a position of absolute power, and she would stop at nothing to reach this goal. She would need an army, and she new the perfect way to find one...
After months of searching, Sakura finally found her father. Following his trail of blood, she eventually found Okina on a snowy hill outside of a church, all the way up in the mountain tops of the giants. Except he was alone. Sakura demanded to know where the rest of the Inaba were, and her father told her. The Inaba were no more. They had lost hope of finding their leader, and had their fill of blood. Now, any that remained were tucked away, seeking nothing more than a good death. Sakura was outraged. Her father had let his blood lust consume him, and hadn't been there to keep the Inaba strong. She drew her Katana and her wakizashi, and challenged the man who taught her everything she knew, to a battle to the death. Okina, who was no longer himself, accepted. To him, his daughter was nothing more than another blood sacrifice. Another kill to make him stronger. He drew his demonic blade, as well as his wakizashi, and assumed a guarded stance. Sakura, who had learned much in the ways of blood magic, stabbed her Uchigatana into her stomach, coating it in her own blood, then yanked it out of herself, now holding a blade of blood, ready to match her fathers cursed sword. And with the first swing, Sakura would start a bloody battle between father and daughter, that would last 12 hours. With each blow on one another, the two warriors would become empowered by blood, giving them an extra edge in battle, and allowing them to ignore any previous injuries. But, every time one of them got hit, the loss of blood would slow them down until they were able to return a hit, once again giving them that edge. Throughout the battle, Sakura noticed this pattern, whilst Okina was in a blood-raged trance, ignoring his experience and focusing only on killing Sakura. And on the 12th hour, Sakura broke the rhythm of the battle, and instead of landing deep, meaning slashes, she began to start making tiny gashes all over Okinas body, while focusing on not getting hit. After a short while of this, Okina could finally take no more, and collapsed. He had lost so much blood, his muscles were no longer responding, while Sakura stood above him, full strength, and without mercy. She said no final words to her father before cutting his head off with his own sword. And the Formless Mother was pleased. Okina was very rich sacrifice.
Now with Okina dead, and no army, Sakura had to figure out a new way to bring her formless god to power. Luckily, she learned a lot during her travels, and heard of a place called mt. gelmir, a volcano on the western coastline of The Lands Between. And Sakura had a plan. A plan to drain all the blood from Mohgwyn palace into the center of mt. gelmir, creating a bloodflame super volcano that could wipe out the erdtree, and Bring the formless mother to absolute power. And she was going to do it. There was no one in the lands between powerful enough to stop the legendary warrior that was Sakura...

For context, the characters are level 6 and are potentially underlevelled for the Amber Temple.
They were adamant on getting there after talking to the elf at the Vistani camp and went on ahead with no cold weather gear.
I tried to dissuade them with a blizzard but 6 hours in but a few good Con saves and some magic fuckery later they got to the gates exhausted and miserable.
First empty room they tried to rest but triggered the flameskulls. They barely got out with their lives.
They dug out a snow cave on the side of the mountain and sheltered inside with druid bear for warmth. They did a short rest because it was deemed that it’s too miserable for a long one.
Now they’re in this tricky situation where they can’t go back because they’re scared of the cold, and they can’t go forward because they’re scared of what’s inside the temple. They’re out of spell slots, have 2 levels of exhaustion each and the whole thing is a disaster.
How do I resolve this without a DMPC or deus ex machina?

2023.06.02 10:56 GreatBeloved The mental load is crushing the life out of me.

Husband(49M) and I (46F) used to make a great team, but it's gone to hell in a hand basket over the last few years. Recently he informed me that I was expected to do 100% for our daughter(9) all the cleaning and inside the house chores. He takes the trash out, mows the lawn/winter shoveling (unless he is out of town- and I think he checked the weatheplanned his away weeks so I had to clear the driveway nearly every storm this year- and the grass hasntbbeen mowed this season) He told me that we had agreed when I took my part-time (24-32hrs/week) job 2 years ago, that our daughter wouldn't be in daycare and I could do things at home. I missed the fact that he was going to stop doing ANYTHING around the house. I refuse to schedule his appointments or do his laundry. His schedule is erratic and he is too picky on the order his shirts get hung up in the closet. He also pays all the household bills. But if I ask him to grab a gallon of milk at the store on the way home you would think I sent him on a mission for a rare gem.
Everyday I get up at 6:30 with our daughter to get her ready for school. He rolls out of bed just after 7. I make sure she is fed, has snack, homework, book, water, shoes etc for school and we are out the door at 7:40. I drop her off at school, drive to the post office for work (15 min) and head to the office. I have to leave work by 2:30 to be home before the bus. Then it's snack, homework, maybe 1 hr of down time before supper prep, baths, and bedtime prep. daughter has severe anxiety and I sit with her until she fLls asleep. I can't get him to see that my being home with our daughter after school.does not give me more extra rime in my day. He refuses to help.with cooking, and complains that he eats out too much so doesn't want takeout. He doesn't understand why there are always dirty dishes in the sink, or why I haven't had the chance to vacuum or put laundry away. I have to schedule all the appointments for my daughter. I have to follow up with the school. I plan meals and buy the groceries. I am trying to get a summer schedule set, and he refuses to sit with me and look at the calendar- because he doesn't know where he will need to be for work. I am just so tired.
2 years ago I started a new job. Super flexibility, good pay, part-time 24-32 hours a week. I can WFH or at the office, any hours, I just need to make sure the job is done. Hubby is a sales manager, he goes to his customers/ spends time with employees and finishes his paperwork/communication from home (his desk is between our living room and dining areas). Every 3 weeks or so he is out of town Monday-Thursday. His work is full time plus. He will always answer his work calls, no matter the time, or what activity the family is doing. 2 or 3 times a year he travels out of state for Corporate events- training and fun events, 1 week a year he has a guys vacation (hunting trip). 3 years ago I was working a full-time job (32 hours a week, our daughter (now 9) was in full time daycare, my disabled mom was living with us, she had helpers that regularly came to the house. Hubby had the same job, but was not managing others yet.

I did not play the Beta or watch any gameplay videos before heading into early access. Nor am I a hardcore ARPG gamer, but I have enjoyed all the Diablo games so far even though I usually only play through the story. After finally managing to get the game to launch I got a couple of hours of gameplay before I had to go to work and my feelings are mixed.
First off I'm digging the darker tone. The voice acting is top notch and the story seems intriguing, but so far the gameplay has been disappointing. Maybe it will change once I get further into the game but there's something off about the combat and movement that I can't put my finger on and somehow it feels even more repetitive than the other games.
As a solo only player I'm also not to keen on the multiplayer aspect, although I knew this before I started. My last complain is about the character models. Specifically the faces. I find them, all to be ugly and bordering on the uncanny valley, but that's just my personal opinion.
I do have hope that the game will become better after a few more hours since all of the games has been a bit slow at the start.
The skill system looks to be a lot better than the one we had in Diablo 3 and the skills I've tried (I've only tried the Necromancer so far) has been interesting. Loot is about as expected and the drop rates have felt fairly balanced so far. I'm looking forward to digging into more customization once I've gotten a few more levels.
What's everyone's opinion. Does the game become more interesting at higher levels or is it just more of the same?

Edited to add: for the past two years she has drank water obsessively. I'll add a note at the end.
• Clinical signs: diarrhea, occasional vomit and loss of appetite
• Duration: continuous bouts of diarrhea that can last up to a week at a time for the last 18 months
• Your general location: UK/Ireland
• Links to test results, vet reports, X-rays etc.: Pancreatitis test was negative, doctor recommended "vet pro" digestive paste and also gave us Pardale-V (100). Dog has been moved to low fat diet.
Hi vets, thanks for reading this.
I'll start from the first instance, about 18 months ago. Our dog, Mitzi, pooped indoors, which was completely out of the ordinary for her. The evening before, she had very soft poop and she requested to go out before her typical bedtime, but we didn't expect her to have an accident overnight. The following day she was very runny, and she requested to go out frequently. During the second night it was worse and she was requesting every two hours on average. The second morning she was sick and had liquid diarrhea with blood in it. She saw the vet that morning.
The vet gave her a nausea injection. As her abdomen was sore to touch, he gave us the pro-biotic paste and Pardale-V (half a tablet). She was moved to chicken & rice as her appetite was gone. Then she moved to Royal Canin Digestion wet food. She was very sick for several days and we did have a follow-up appointment that week.
The same thing happened again the next month. We had been keeping a food/poop diary. Similar symptoms to before but we started the pro-biotic paste sooner. We still had the frequent trips out overnight. Another vet visit and nausea injection and more digestive paste. We thought her poop was softer when she had pedigree jumbones. The vet suggested IBS or pancreatitis. We changed her kibble and all treats to low fat ones, less than 10%. The pancreatitis test was negative but the vet still thought that was the most obvious culprit.
Since then she has been healthy and active, but she gets a diarrhea bout every few months. Last month we tied it to thunderstorms. Her poop was runny, we started her immediately on the digestive paste and she was back to normal after 5 days. She didn't vomit or go off her food.
Her current bout is worse. She had runny poop on Wednesday, we gave her the paste. She was fine overnight and poop was normal on her walks. Then overnight on Thursday she needed to go out seven times. Poop is brown with a slight yellow tint and a slurry texture. She seems to be in discomfort so I'm going to give her some Pardale-V.
We do not know what caused the current run, she hasn't been under stress and her diet has remained low fat. This is one of many cases with no real cause. Plus, during the last year, she has been in kennels without having any issues.
We are moving soon, so we will be bringing this up with a new vet, but just looking for any other opinions as this is happening so frequently.
Water drinking note: two years ago, when the weather was very hot, she began drinking water obsessively, then vomiting. After it happened a few times we went to the vet, all tests came back negative. By measuring her water, we determined she is drinking an appropriate amount for her size, however sometimes (once a day, ish) she will drink compulsively and we have to stop her from drinking. It is worse if she is in a cafe/pub that supplies a water bowl. It seems to be a stress reflex. She always has access to clean water, but we only fill half her bowl at a time and make her move away if she's being compulsive. We do not prevent her from returning to the bowl a few minutes later.

Hi! So I have a male cat that will start spraying in the same spot around the same time of year. My cats never been an outdoor cat but usually when the weather gets nice he likes to try and escape and then by night time he usually wants to come inside. He's done this a few times and he's escaped once or twice before but those times he's come home and got back into his routine. These last two times though he begs to come home and a few days later we find he peed all over our floor. He pees in the same spot too, and I've spent countless hours cleaning up after him. Last year I took him to the vet to see if he may have UTI or any other infection and the vet said nope, and he had to take some medicine for his behavior and I think he was prescribed meds for a uti just in case. He was fine and then the other day he ran out begged to come back in and he was fine and a few days later he peed in the exact same spot he did last time. I'm reluctant of letting my cat be an outdoor cat as there is usually a lot of roadkill around my neighborhood and I feel sad when he isn't here honestly. He is going to the vet again but if there's any advice or suggestions on how to remedy this issue I'd greatly appreciate it cleaning up cat pee is exhausting 😅

I first discovered onewheel last fall when there weren’t many above-freezing days left for the year. I was on the fence about purchasing due to a pretty serious injury back in July, and the incoming cold weather convinced me to hold off on my purchase for the time being.
Flash forward to spring! And here I am thinking I’m ready to take the plunge. If I’m still thinking about it 7 months later I need it, right? 😆
My use case will likely be different than most:
Due to my back issues I don’t think I will be able to ride for more than an hour at a time. (Maybe longer if I take breaks.) I’ll mostly be riding on paved sidewalks/streets, some hills if I’m brave enough, and I’d ideally like the ability to ride on grass. Being able to go up/down hills on grass would be great. I love the idea of dirt trails, but we don’t have too many of those around here so it wouldn’t be a frequent thing. I’d also like to take my small dog with me once I’m comfortable riding. I’m not worried about going super fast (I doubt I will ever max it out), but I do want the safest ride possible where I’m the least likely to fall off and break any more bones.
I’m reading some reports of people saying the pint x is more stable than the gt, and others saying gt is the most stable and the least likely to nosedive. I’m open to replacing the tire, but the recommended tire seems to be out of stock.
I’m 5’3 and a little over 200 lbs. I’ve heard people recommend the gt for larger riders, but 35 lbs. is super heavy for me to lift! That’s the main thing that has me questioning if the pintx might be a smarter purchase. But if my weight is going to cause any issues with the pintx, or if the gt is going to offer me a safemore stable ride, I could probably figure out a way to safely lift the gt.
