In New York City, a few blocks from the Daily Bugle, a man climbs onto a makeshift stage and takes his possession behind a podium. The man is well dressed in a black suit with an armband on his upper-right arm it has the visage of an eagle with the letters 'FoH' inside of it. Anyone vaguely aware of mutant politics knows it as the emblem of the 'Friends of Humanity' an Anti-mutant hate group. The man is their leader, Donald Pierce. Behind him is a massive wooden 'X' it smells of combustibles, though Wolverine is probably the only man that could pick that smell out over all the sweaty supporters gathered. Among them are some who seem to be in a loose uniform, green suit jackets and tan slacks. All with arm bands matching Pierce's. There's a formation of them in front of the stage, and a couple on the stage as well as around the event. All are armed. Pierce holds his hands high and motions for the crowd to quiet down, it takes a moment but they do.
"Welcome Friends of Humanity, and thank you for coming. Too long have we suffered the mutant menace, too long have we seen them infiltrate our society and subvert our culture with their mutie ideals. Now there's millions more poping up everywhere, and you know what? They're gonna need work. How can a good honest construction worker expect to compete against a genefreak who can bend steel with its bare hands? And that's the least egregious example. They aren't gonna send their best into our neighborhoods, no sir. They'll be criminals, and what can our fine police officers..."
Pierce pauses a moment to gesture to the police lines up nearly. Ostensibly to keep the peace, but more than a few nod and smile along with Pierce.
"...do against a mutant made of steel who can throw their squadcar to New Jersey? Nothing! None of us can. I have certainly tried, and this is what I got for my troubles!"
Pierce rips a black glove off his right hand and thrusts it into the air. The cybernetic limb gleams in the sunlight.
"One, just one of those filthy beasts took my arms and legs and left me to die! So again I tell you, we cannot hope to stand alone, we must stand behind president Kelly and not be deceived by the mutie-lover Jameson!"
The raised mechanical hand curls into a fist and he pumps it into the air. He turns to the X hand holds out his hand palm out. A jet of flame shoots out and ignites the emblem. As it burns he shouts for the group to march with him. Where is unclear, but by this point they're whipped into a frenzy and there's no telling what they could do.
What is your character doing? Observing? Counterprotesting? Perhaps looking to stop the mob by any means necessary?

A couple of years ago I lost my virginity to rape… but I have always blamed myself because I did not fight back & always questioned whether or not he understood consent … but I think he did … the first thing women say when an encounter is going too far is that they’re a virgin … I also cannot remember if he put on a condom that night because I checked out … I just wanted it to be over and because I knew I did something stupid I didn’t want the situation to be too painful … he had already started aggressively dry humping me like a wild animal which is what had me so afraid in the first place … I knew I didn’t go there for that & I regret even teasing in the first place & when I said I was a virgin he was just like “well you gone get this dick today” …. so I froze … I laid there lifeless & he kept going without a response from me … he started tugging at my leggings & I was able to say “I didn’t shave” but he ignored me & pulled them down anyway…Nothing that I did after trynna suggest it was going to far indicated an enthusiastic yes. I did not readily identify the interaction as rape right away … but I did readily identify it as something I did not want to happen. I felt violated, dirty, and degraded. Despite this I did sleep with him the next day because I felt like I had nothing to lose … but honestly he could tell I was not into it (he brought it up — maintained contact for a week & some change before we stopped speaking — ) … he just knew I wasn’t going to stand up for myself because I didn’t previously… I basically let that man treat me like I was trash & trash me to his friends ( this I found out later ) I went to work and cried for hours the next day… and slowly fell into a depression that summer … I spent the entire year paranoid that I would run into him because I swore I was seeing his car everywhere (in retrospect think he was messing with someone in my building) … & I even ran into him once at Starbucks but I panicked grabbed my drink & walked right back out. It seemed like this person tried to make my life a living hell because A. They kept trying to contact me on dating apps … super swiping etc to be noticed & B. It seemed like they managed to convince people that we just “had a wild night” & that I was just dirty & desperate… was I stupid? Absolutely but I promise you I was not desperate for this person in any capacity …. & if I was really dirty why didn’t he just fall back the second it that became clear to him? Like be forreal. • As much as needed, I live with my sister but she wants me to choose the breed, and a friend recommended this reddit ❤️ I am working at home and I have lots of (too much) time.

8) How long can you exercise your dog each day, on average? What sorts of exercise are you planning to give your dog regularly and does that include using a dog park?

• As much as needed, I have an extremely flexible and easy work schedule. I don't want to do dog parks as I hear lots of negatives about them!! I already do 3 daily walks so incorporating a dog into whatever is required is fine!

9) How much regular brushing are you willing to do? Are you open to trimming hair, cleaning ears, or doing other grooming at home? If not, would you be willing to pay a professional to do it regularly?

• Open to any brushing, it's therapeutic for me and I did it every day with the poodle, not sure about stuff like cleaning ears but we have 1 pet hospital near us that does grooming and check ups.

• Any except extra large like Great Danes or extra small (we're near the woods so really not safe cause of hawks and foxes)

• Fine with shedding, not too big on slobber (I can cope, lol) but I am fine with barking! Not close to many people so

• I do not want to do any off-leash in an unfenced area, the thought makes me worry.

• 100% snuggly but I'm of course fine with giving space whenever the dog prefers!!

• I have multiple instances of trauma with pitbull breeds including with my old family dog's situation so I am more hesitant but it is just due to trauma I am not sure if I could handle one. I do not mean to generalize but it's sadly how my anxiety functions. 100% not going for brachy breeds either, unless from a rescue.

My pain management doctor was about an hour away from where I live now. I don’t drive and although there is a train that gets me into the general vicinity an Uber ride from there will be over $20 before tip. We are talking more than $50 round trip. I currently can’t work, and waiting on disability, who knows how long that will take.
I live near a a big city. There are many pain clinics near me. It’s so difficult finding one that takes my insurance and is a traditional pain management clinic.
I have now been through the process of a referral from my PC and getting records to them with 3 places. Place 1 failed to mention they were an interventional clinic until I was making my first appointment. Place 2 after much phone tag let me know that they don’t take my insurance. Place 3 after much phone tag told me they only take referrals from within their hospital system, at first blaming it on the insurance company and then telling me it was their policy.
I’m on the 4th place, and they haven’t gotten back to me about if they actually take my insurance.
This process is sucking the life out of me, exhausting me, stressing me out, causing anxiety and thus causing me to be in more pain. It just seems hopeless at this time.
TLDR: finding a pain clinic is causing me more pain and it seems hopeless

King Maxwell’s POV
Mmm…yes…today is another good day. The soreness in my arms just won’t go away. What a wonderful feeling. Me? Sore? It’s been years…that man is truly something. My only regret is that I didn’t get to meet him sooner.
“Ah, Your Majesty, are you injured? You keep nursing your arm as if you are in pain…” Arbra asked hesitantly.
I just chuckled at her concern. “There is nothing to worry about, Arbra! It’s a good pain that your magic would only take away from me!”
Arbra bowed deeply. “I’m so sorry, Your Majesty, I had no idea!” she shouted. “Please for—”
Sigh…this is also why I like Kaladin so much. I feel as if he doesn’t care that I’m the king and treats me like a comrade. Well, he wants to, but whatever sense of formality he has keeps getting in the way. It’s been too long since I’ve been around those kinds of people. I wish he would just forget that I was a ruler.
Arbra looked up at me with teary eyes. “H—have I offended you?”
I gave the poor girl a pat on the shoulder. “Why are you crying, Arbra? Raise your head. People might think that I abuse you or something. I’m simply just thinking about this and that. Pay no mind to me.”
Arbra’s smile returned as she wiped her eyes with her sleeve. Sometimes people like her could be so burdensome, but she’s a good soul and a trusted healer. If I could call old man Paine, I’d like nothing more, but I could hardly do that for such a personal reason.
I just wonder when she is coming…you know, come to think of it, I never did ask Kaladin if it was Sylvia.
I just assumed it would be her, after all. Her strength has been recorded more than once. She felled a Troll with ease and can even train with Kaladin on equal footing. Plus, she was some kind of ancient Vampire that could survive even the strike of a Dragon? If somebody was on the verge of being a War God, it had to be her, right?
“I already know she is a War God. She has the aptitude. She is just missing…something. And sadly, I don’t know what that something is.”
What an exciting thing to say to someone. It almost sounded like a hopeful parent that was full of themselves. A person should be very aware if they are a War God or not. At a young age, the differences might not be noticeable, but they should become evident over time. But since it was Kaladin that said that, I had to believe the man’s intuition.
“Your Majesty, may I ask why you have retrieved me so suddenly? Are you expecting another fight…”Arba asked meekly.
“Ah, I suppose I did abruptly rip you from your duties. But it seems you already answered your own question!” I laughed. “I’m here on a personal favor from a friend!”
She gave me a blank look. “Huh? Friend?”
I slapped her on the shoulder a few times and nodded while I looked out at the courtyard. “Yes! A friend! Haha!”
Now then…oh? Who—oh…it’s her? Huh… interesting.
Breathtaking long muscular legs that strode through the halls, hair as white as the freshest snow, and a face straight out of a painting. I’d only seen her from a distance but she was truly a beautiful woman. To think Kaladin could surround himself with such beauties and remain unaffected. He’s as strong-willed as they came.
My daughters are nothing to scoff at, but they need to get their heads out of the mud! Haha!
“Yo! Ah…damn…Celia!?” I yelled. “That’s your name, right?! Come!”
Damn, I should have read her file more. I didn’t think much about it, and my concerns have lied elsewhere recently.

“It appears she is ignoring you, Your Majesty,” Abra commented as the woman continued to walk down the hall.
“Well, that’s rude,” I muttered as I picked a clump of snow up and reared back. “Haha! This should grab her attention!” I yelled as I tossed the snowball.
Whoosh.
“It appears she dodged your attack, Your Majesty,” Abra stated.
“Thanks, Abra. I appreciate the narration,” I mumbled.
She dodged at the last moment, and what’s with that disgusted look on her face? And wait—wait! Why is she walking away?!
“Now, I can’t stand for that!” I yelled as I took off toward her.
Once again, she flicked around at the last moment and batted my arm away. It seemed her instincts were pretty good, but that’s to be expected from a Beastmen.
I intended on testing her today anyway, so let’s find out what Kaladin sees in this girl!
“Show me what you got!” I chuckled.
Of course, I had no intentions of going all out. I just planned on picking up the pace a bit. I wonder if that sword was just for decoration!
I put a little more oomph into the next series of attacks, and she unsheathed her sword and deftly parried and blocked my attacks. Her speed was pretty good, and she had no trouble reading my simple attacks, so let’s go a step further!
Let’s see some footwork!
I stepped into her aggressively and started swinging with more precision, randomizing my punches as I forced her onto her back foot. She gave a short slice at my exposed ribs, and I coated the strike zone in crystal. I had purposely left myself open to see if she would capitalize, and she did just that.
I jumped back and crossed my arms, and went into deep thought. I had to examine her in a more favorable light now. She was indeed skilled as she was beautiful. Her footwork and blade skills were well-honed. Not perfect by any means, but far better than most.
My only critique at this moment was that she seemed too practiced. One could swing a sword under instruction all day for eternity, but if they never put that practice into any worthwhile experience, it would amount to nothing but eye candy. Even so, saying she was entirely without experience wasn’t right either…mmm…
And there was something off about it all. Her swings and her stance didn't seem to match her weapon choice. She was using a typical iron sword, but her movements and stance indicated she was used to something a bit heftier.
Does this mean there is an imbalance in her skills, practice, and experience? Or is she perhaps holding back? Mhm…I wonder if she is using a weapon that’s not her primary one. Only people who want to hide their power do that. Is that why Kaladin sees she has the aptitude but isn’t able to apply them
No…more testing is needed before I can come to a decision. I’m getting pumped already! Haha!
“To think I’d be this serious! All you young ones are impressive these days!” I said with a laugh.
The girl looked at me like I was a strange creature. Suddenly a black stone tablet materialized from thin air, and she started writing on it.
the tablet read, the lettering glowing a faint blue light.
I could feel my jaw drop. “Who am I?” I asked in utter disbelief.
The Beastmen nodded her head, her confused look not disappearing. I tapped my head to make sure my crown was still there. “There is a crown on my head! I’m the king! What is there to be confused about?”
A flash of understanding crossed her face as she started writing on the tablet with her finger.
Muscle…bound…pervert?

I heard somebody gasping and looked back at Abra, who was white as a sheet and wholly mortified. I guess she must have read the tablet and had quite the shock. But me…I couldn’t contain my laughter.
“That’s a new one! To think you would insult me directly to my face! You are, without a doubt, a friend of Kaladin’s!” I yelled into the afternoon air.
But wait a moment…that collar…is she his friend? Have I been rude and insulted his fiance or…mhm…questions to be answered, I’m sure.
“Now that you’ve connected the dots, it’s time for a true test! I’ll be getting serious, so prepare yourself, Cela!” I shouted as I bounded toward her.
She gave me a slightly miffed look before the tablet disappeared, and her sword blocked my first strike. But now, I would test her strength. Beastmen weren’t just known for their heightened senses and speed but also for their strength! I can already tell Kaladin has trained her just by looking at her body!
I brought both my fists up and sent them down with the full intention of crushing her with pure strength. Before, I hadn't been putting much effort into my strikes, but now every blow from me would come at a cost if it connected. The only way to see someone’s true worth was to put them in danger!
“Oh! As strong as you are beautiful!” I yelled in excitement, hoping to get a reaction out of her.
But she didn’t even react to my words as she blocked my double power strike with the strength befitting a War God candidate. I wonder if she was perhaps what the Beastmen called a Child of The Hunt? A rare individual amongst their race. Even though I don’t quite understand the qualifications for what makes a Beastmen a Child of The Hunt, I know they are supposed to be quite strong.
I mean, her mana enhancement was where it needed to be! No doubts about it—
Huh? A spell core?
I couldn’t help but marvel at the feeling of a spell core suddenly being formed in front of me. Its instantaneous formation from her feet was nothing short of pure talent and skill. And she did that all while maintaining her mana enhancement, not so much as faltering even an inch.
I let the spell hit my chest, which was covered in my crystal, and broke away from our little grapple. Tiny ice spears floated around her, and she aimed her sword at me. I just laughed, which probably made her angry, judging by her expression.
She was just like Kaladin, and they were just like those taught in the Holy Kingdom of Arotal. That ability to cast magic and form spell cores without a drop in mana enhancement was a talent many high-ranking officials from that country possessed.
It took me almost a decade to unlearn my habits and learn their technique, and even then, I could only copy it. I don’t mean to brag, but I was a cut above the rest. I tried to teach their technique to all three of my children, but none of them could learn it. Even Bowen was unable to perform the technique.
To be honest, it was a technique only those who possessed talent and were brought up with it could learn. I thought Kaladin was simply a genius of that caliber, but now I’ve seen a pattern.
Who trained those two? Alanis was not capable of using that technique either, so does that mean it was The Lightning Witch? Ah…I’m just so excited.
I burst forward and crushed down the spells that were thrown at me. Most of them I ignored, allowing them to break harmlessly against my body. It was slightly annoying that she wasn’t putting more strength into her spells. If she could manifest them this quickly, I expected the power to be more!
I guess I just need to show her how serious I am.
I increased my speed suddenly and arrived in front of her. Her amber-orange eyes went wide. She managed to block my fists, but this entire time I had only used them. She tried to react, but she was too slow for me. My kick landed on her quad with a meaty smack followed by a loud crack. She buckled to the floor and yelped in pain. I had broken her leg.
A flurry of ice spikes came at me, and I retreated instead of finishing her off. I wasn’t done testing her yet. I was far too curious to end things so soon.
“Arbra! Heal her leg!” I ordered.
Arbra scurried off from the side, mumbling apologies to her as a golden light left her hands and infused the injury. Celia looked to be in quite a bit of pain, but a moment of confusion appeared in her eyes only to disappear. She stood on her freshly healed leg without a lick of hesitation.
So an injury like that is nothing to her? Sure, she reacted to the pain, but that’s only natural. To stand right back up after having your leg healed isn’t normal. It appears her will was quite tempered. And those eyes…
Her eyes blazed with a cold fury that wasn’t there before. She dropped her sword into a low guard, a position that was more suited for a long or even a great sword, and I felt a powerful spell core being formed.
A gust of wind blasted me, and a blizzard suddenly appeared around me. The cold wind whipped at my exposed skin, and I could feel minor cuts on my face.
Finally, show me what Kaladin sees in you!
I swatted down an incoming spell core only to be momentarily covered in water. I hadn’t expected her to be able to use water magic while maintaining this silent blizzard, which was another odd phenomenon. Only for my surprise to grow as I felt a powerful wind arrow approaching me.
It cut through the blizzard and had enough power to rip a limb off, but I batted it away. I was buffeted by powerful spell after spell, and I couldn’t contain my laughter. I thought the speed at which she formed her spells was at least the skill of a Master mage, but to think she could use three schools of magic to this proficiency. Of course, she may just be a Grandmaster mage, but I felt that something was off.
I decided I was done gauging those spells and burst through the blizzard right at her. She had positioned herself behind me using her magic as cover and near silent steps. Beastmen were also tricky ones. They seemed to be able to disappear from most people’s senses when they wanted to.
But not mine.
I punched forward and expected a look of surprise, but Celia was more than ready for me. I was greeted by two large ice spikes aiming for my legs and a sword aiming to cut my head off my shoulders. I kicked one of the spikes down and used its debris against her, sending chunks of ice magic into her face, only for those chunks to melt into harmless water that splattered against her face.
Amazing, she was maintaining control over her spells the entire time while also striking at me. Truly fantastic, I thought as I slipped under her swing.
I punched her underneath the leather breastplate and grabbed Celia by the belt, and gave her a good toss into the wall, just like ol’ Kaladin. But unlike Kaladin, I was ready to end things here, or…so I thought.
Amazing. Truly amazing. I’m actually feeling the need to preserve my life. How long has it been?
I felt dozens of spell cores form around me, and the puddle I stood in turned into a creeping frost that threatened to consume me. Dozens of ice spears formed from the snow left by the blizzard, and I watched as a wall of ice formed only for the girl to use it to bounce rebound off of and aim straight for me once more.
She had completely changed the battlefield to suit her, something very few mages could do, let alone at the level she showed. And it appeared she even led me by the nose. How far ahead did she plan all of this? Did she anticipate these things the moment she used the blizzard to distract me and morph the battlefield?
But I also understood what Kaladin meant when he said she had the “aptitude.” Why she felt so close yet so far, she had all these well-honed skills and even put them into practical use. And despite having the upper hand on me.
It just wasn’t enough.
I forced mana into my body at a much greater rate and felt the familiar feeling of my crystals enveloping me. Her spells crashed against me, but I remained steadfast as I moved forward. Her eyes widened again in surprise, and it was the last thing I saw before I grabbed her by the face and sent her face down into the snowy soil with a loud boom.
I turned my head slowly. “Arbra, heal her,” I ordered.
Arbra slowly nodded her head like she was in a daze. “I’ll be gone for a while. I have an old friend to find. Please see to it that she is comfortable.”

Bowen Taurus’s POV
I gave the door a solid knock and announced myself. “I have arrived as you requested, Your Majesty.”
“Good! Hurry up and come in, old friend!” the king bellowed.
Sigh…would it kill him to uphold a little bit of digni—huh?
“Cerila? Why…why is she here? Why is she unconscious?”
The king smacked his fist into a meaty palm. “Ah! Her name was Cerila! That’s why she was annoyed with me!” he said with a chuckle. But he puffed his lips out at me. “And unconscious? Why are you assuming that? Maybe she is just sleeping.”
I just sighed and shook my head. “The girl may be deaf, but your incensive laughter could wake the dead.”
King Maxwell looked at me with an expression of surprise as his head snapped back and forth between the sleeping Cerila and me. “She’s deaf? Like really deaf? No hearing at all?”
“That’s right…please tell me you knew that,” I muttered in disbelief. I could feel a headache coming on.
“That makes so much sense. I thought she was just shy or a mute,” the king mumbled to himself. “Tell me, why hasn’t anyone healed her? She is close to Kaladin, no?”
I walked into the room and sat down in an available chair. “I’ve already spoken with them on the matter. She was born deaf, and not even a Grandmaster light mage could heal her ears. So—Your Majesty?”
Bishop wore a thoughtful expression. His deep blue eyes were wide and searching for something, and I felt my skin start to crawl somewhat when he looked at me. “A Grandmaster light mage, you say…tell me, is that confirmed?” he asked, his voice lacking the friendly tone he typically used.
It’s been a long time since I’ve seen him like this, not since he first started to investigate Kaladin.
“I’ve heard the same thing from three different sources, including Cerila when I spoke with her at great length. I have no reason to believe any of them are lying to me at this point. The girl is completely deaf,” I explained.
King Maxwell rubbed his chin slowly. “So…do we know who trained Kaladin and this girl?”
Wait, I thought he cared more about her deafness…what is this about?
“Kaladin has mentioned to me before that his teacher was his grandfather,” I told him.
The king looked even more surprised at that but quickly shook his head. “That’s impossible. Neither of those old Elves would have come into contact with—”
“That’s because it wasn’t a blood-related grandfather but an adoptive one of sorts. I’ve met him once or twice now. He’s an old Human man at the end of his life. And appears to be quite smart and witty despite his declining age. He often teaches the young ones various skills at my spare home.”
“An old Human man…isn’t Kaladin from Syn’nari?” the king trailed off.
Wait!
I shot out of my seat. “Wait a moment…a Grandmaster light mage in Syn’nari… are you suggesting their teacher and Grandfather is a remnant of the Holy King invasion force?”
The king smirked and crossed his arms. “It’s not a suggestion. It’s almost a guarantee at this point.”
I ran a hand through my beard. “The old man referred to himself as a doctor, so I never questioned why he considered himself to be one. Even Kaladin’s parents call him Dr. Jacobs. And the man doesn’t seem to be pious or even wear symbols of the faith. I never connected these points because I didn’t think they were relevant.”

The rainforest is beautiful.
The impenetrable green of its walls make me realise just how small, how insignificant, we all are. The trees stretch forever, and after hours of hiking today, we’ve barely seen any of what this environment has to offer. Asri’s knowledge of this place is next to none – there is no question he cannot answer. Asri has shown us how to fish and hunt, as well as which plants were safe to eat and which were not. Ketill and I spent the day asking Asri questions as we walked, mostly questions about the rainforest. We’re nearing the end of the day, and are almost back at Asri’s house, when Ketill decides to probe Asri about something else.
“Asri”, Ketill begins, “You said online that you had a son, Haziq.”
Asri continues to walk, eyes down. He doesn’t look up from his feet which continue to move one in front of the other. He remains quiet for a matter of seconds, eyes never leaving the ground. Ketill soon tries to change the topic.
“And your wife, Siti!” Ketill exclaims, qucikly glancing at me before looking back to Asri, “she is a wonderful cook!”
“Yes”, Asri quickly responds, still not looking up from the path we traverse, “she is a wonderful cook. And about Haziq, please do not ask me this again. Haziq is not here.”
“Of course”, Ketill says, clear regret in his voice, “I’m sorry, I won’t ask again.”
We continue to walk for a few more hours, and get back to the house just as Siti has finished cooking dinner.

I don’t see Siti much.
As soon as she finishes cooking, she sits and eats with us, and then immediately tidies up and goes into her bedroom, shutting the door behind her. Even after dinner today, Ketill and I had offered to clean the dishes and she profusely refused, before cleaning up everything and retreating into her room. Her and Asri also don’t seem to talk much.
It’s just something that I’ve noticed.
I stretch my legs out as I lay on the mattress, my legs sticking to it from all the sweat. I knew it’d be hot here, but I didn’t expect it to be this bad. The humidity alone would be enough to drive someone crazy – I’ll get used to it though. I’m loving this trip, and Ketill and I are getting on really well. He’s just in the bathroom right now, so I’m waiting for him to come back in and I’ll head there myself before going to sleep. I look out of a small gap in the window and stare into the night.
A few moments later, the front door opens and Ketill comes inside.
“Bathrooms all yours my friend”, he murmurs as he throws his headtorch down onto his mattress, "don't get lost."
I pick up my headtorch and strap it on, flicking the switch as I do so. I walk to the front door and push it open, walking out onto the porch and sliding my slippers on.
I stand atop the staircase, and stare into the darkness that festers below the house. With a small sigh, I begin to climb down it, careful with my step. I can only see a few feet in front of me with this headtorch, the darkness appears to swallow the light almost immediately. And that’s what it is; darkness. It’s darkness that I’ve never experienced in the past. The only light comes from the moon and the stars, but they’re almost entirely blocked by the towering trees that surround us and only allow us glimpses.
Crickets chirp as I bite my lip and start to walk toward the outhouse, which sits just by the treeline on the perimeter of the clearing. I think it's this way. With every step, the crunch of the leaves beneath my feet let me know that I’m one pace closer to reaching the outhouse and momentarily escaping the dark.
Crunch.
I’ve got to be close now.
Crunch.
Surely only a few more steps.
Crunch.
Where is it? I glance around and see the dim outline of the house behind me. I’m sure I’m heading in the right direction.
Crunch.
My light flickers for a moment. The darkness momentarily completely engulfs me.
Crunch.
It's got to be-
I see it! I was right. It’s here.
I pull open the stiff door and enter. My headlight works better in here, in this small confined place. I use the toilet and brush my teeth, and use a nearby bucket to clean my feet.
A few minutes pass, and I turn to leave the outhouse and begin the long journey back to the safety of my bed when I hear it.
Crunch.
The crunching of leaves. Just outside.
I freeze. What was that?
I consider speaking up, asking who’s there, but decide against it. I press my ear to the thin wooden door frame and listen.
Except, I can’t hear anything. I wait for what feels like hours, before slowly pushing the door open with a creak. Nothing’s there; nothing that I can see anyway. Slowly, I step outside, back into the dark. It almost seems darker.
I begin my walk back to the house.
Crunch.
I squint my eyes to try to make out the outline of the house, but it’s too dark now.
Crunch.
It’s definitely this way, right?
Crunch.
The crunching of my footsteps are the only comfort I have, the only sound I hear.
Crunch.
Wait.
The only sound I hear.
Crunch.
The crickets, they’ve stopped. Just like last night, they’ve stopped. I can’t hear anything.
I stop.
Silence. I stand for a moment, straining my ears to hear the sounds of the rainforest once more.
But it's just silence.
I remain completely still.
Crunch.
I’m frozen.
Something’s behind me.
Crunch.
It’s closer. It’s coming closer.
I can feel it looking at me.
Crunch.
It’s quiet but I can hear something else.
A long croak, a moan. The sound of someone in pain.
Crunch.
The moan continues, slowly getting louder. It rings through my ears, through my head. I need to-

It’s running at me.
I break into a sprint, running blindly into the darkness in front of me, desperate to find the house. As I run, the croaking sound behind me grows ever louder. It seems to grow in excitement.
I see one of the stilts, to my left. I must have ran at an angle. I quickly change direction, turning to my left. And as I do so, I see a glimpse of what is chasing me.
I reach the stairs, running up them at speed and losing a slipper along the way.
I burst through the door and give Ketill the fright of his life.
“Are you alright?” he asks, sitting up in his mattress.
But I can’t answer.
All I can do is think about what I had just seen. It can’t have been real, could it? I must be going crazy.
It keeps replaying in my brain over and over.
I wish I’d managed a better look at it.
A better look at her.
A better look at the woman with the long black hair and the pale face.

Rant alert 🚨
I presently manage the social media accounts for 35 small biz, creator and community nonprofit orgs, each paying for only a handful of hours of work per month (hence how I can sustain such a large number).
I was laid off by my main, large corporate account in January, and filling the void has been a challenge. For the local corporations in my immediate area, I’m “overqualified” (lol—that’s a thing?), and for the larger, remote ones, I’m under-qualified (no fancy marketing degree or many industry connections—I’m self-taught after creating a bunch of micro-, macro-, and platinum influencers from scratch through engaging organic short-form vids; I like making TikToks, lol).
This is so frustrating. I’m getting burnt out trying to support my disabled mom (dad died penniless 10 years ago when I was in high school), posting 30 short-form vids manually per day, and still feeling like a disorganized hot mess who is nowhere near financial security.
My current clients are all from either 1) me walking into a shop and being like “your socials suck, let me help,” or 2) referrals. I have potentially hundreds of recommendations I could provide, especially as I’m the go-to “TikTok Girl” in my small working class city. But, what does that matter without the fancy marketing degree and industry connections?
I need a new corporate account so 1) I can be financially secure, 2) my talents are fully out to use with an actual organic social media budget and 3) I feel like my value is being fully recognized.
I can’t move (see disabled mom part), so I just feel stuck and kinda hopeless/despondent—stuck for the rest of my life making TikToks for dozens of local restaurants, politicians, shops, creators and nonprofits. Killing myself (ulnar nerve compression and texting thumb; depression/anxiety) for barely any payoff.
My rates are already at their max for my small biz clients ($50/hour; nonprofits pay $15 less per hour). I can’t ask for more in this current economy. My corporate rate is $75/hour.
And I don’t want to switch careers. Making dopey and/or insightful TikToks/Reels is my calling—it comes naturally to me and I adore it. I’m just feeling worn out; jaded. I don’t want to have to create over 300 CapCut drafts in order to survive. I want one, steady full-time gig or client. I have no idea what to do

Hello all - First I would like to offer my very best wishes for everyone else suffering from this disease. I wanted to share my story as it unfolds, in hopes that it helps someone else. From early childhood I always had stomach issues, even in grade school I would get extremely painful stomach cramps, and had diarrhea near constantly. This lasted up until around high school when my symptoms suddenly stopped. The doctors chalked it off to stress or IBS, nothing was done. Now I do not think this was related to my cancer, however I am communicating that stomach issues were pretty normal for me. So when they started again later in life, I did not give it the attention I should have. I dropped out of high school shortly after 9/11 and got my GED so I could enlist in the Navy. My dad was also enlisted in the Army National Guard, he was activated and unfortunately died during operation Nobel Eagle from a heart attack. Fast forward twenty some odd years, and I am a software engineer for one of the USA's "big banks". I do pretty well for myself, considering growing up in rural west Tennessee and only having a GED. I worked my ass off, and would take any job that would give me experience in the IT world. Eventually, I worked my way up to managing a team of software developers who write/maintain one of the data exchange protocols that keeps the financial world running. It is something I am extremely proud of, being for the most part self-educated. Earning a six figure salary means my wife (amazing women, no way I could do any of this without her, and I mean any of this. From the amazing career to the new diagnosis. She is my everything) does not have to work. Then after covid I was allowed to move back home, cost of living here is low, and with our monthly income we are able to lead very comfortable lives. But the stomach issues started up again, due to the issues I had early in life I just ignored them, assuming it was IBS/stress related as I was told before. Then around Jan 20th 2023, the pain got almost unbearable. It mostly hurt around my "guts" and in what I thought was my kidneys. Being a "manly" man, I thought it was my first kidney stone, and I could just power through it. I even took a few days off work so I could "relax" while in process of passing the stone. Fast forward 4 days, the pain is now so intense I literally passed out on the toilet when trying to have a bowel movement. There was also some blood, not a lot, and seeing a bit of blood in my stool was not completely abnormal. I only asked for three days off work, Wednesday-Friday, and it was now Sunday afternoon and I felt worse than before. I was convinced it was a kidney stone, just based on how people described it as "the worst possible pain for a man" and it's general location. But work was coming up so I figured I had better go to the ER, to either get some pain meds so I could work, or see if I was going to need help passing the stone. So they did the initial CT scan to get a closer look. This is when my world completely changed. On the scan (no kidney stones by the way) they noticed a 4mm growth in my colon. My first thought was "It cant be cancerous, I am only 38", after a few more tests our worst fears were confirmed. Not only was it cancer but it was stage 4, and had all ready spread to my liver. I have so far had 4 treatments of chemo, after the next treatment they will do a rescan to see if it has made any difference at all. I guess the point of this rambling post, (my first reddit post by the way) is just to remind people how quickly life can change. The wife and I (no kids) went from having financial freedom, a great job, and the ability to travel as we saw fit. Looking back we had such a great life, basically we were living the 30-something dream. Now it is chemo treatments, the being sick after said treatments, and the overall stress and worry of "how long?" I have become completely obsessed and hyper focused on making sure my life insurance is in good order, so that she will be taken care of after I am gone. Using phrases like "after I am gone" have become normalized here at home, and to a certain extent I am ok with that. I guess I have accepted my fate, but I NEED to know my family will be OK afterwards. Does anyone else feel this way? Is this normal, or a part of the grieving process? How do you balance the "time left vs. family wellbeing? I plan to post more here in the future, but I just wanted to get this off my chest. Thanks for listening, and as always, fuck cancer.

Is this what the future of trucking looks like?
For a few years, electric trucks were mainly being worked on by startup companies, while the large tech companies were mostly silent on the issue. This all changed around 2017. Tesla unveiled its all-electric autonomous truck in 2017 and the early customers of this product are Walmart, UPS and PepsiCo. Then, Daimler unveiled the electric siblings of their most popular trucks, Cascadia and M2 as eCascadia and eM2 in 2018. At the ACT Expo in 2018, Roger Nielson, the CEO of Daimler Trucks, said that the time has come to contemplate the post-internal combustion engine. The production of Daimler electric trucks will begin in 2021. In April 2019, the Nikola Motor Company, a tech startup unveiled its semi-truck powered by hydrogen fuel cells. Anheuser Busch, a beer making company has planned to buy 800 units of Nikola’s hydrogen fuel powered semi-truck.
Uber has also acquired a startup company, Otto which is working on autonomous trucks. In October, 2018 Otto completed the first shipment in the world from a self-driven truck. The cargo hauled by it contained 51,744 cans of Budweiser.

Any technological advancement requires large investments. According to a report from CB Insights, $2 billion has been invested in startup trucking companies as of 21st May, 2019. The investments in tech startups jumped a huge leap from $114 million in 2014 to $3.6 billion in 2018. The growing interest in the future of trucking has increased the scale of investments. The costs of electric trucks are quite higher than that of a diesel truck. Nielson went on to say that the business scenario at present will not allow a sane fleet operator to buy an electric truck. The industry needs to find ways to carry on research and make batteries that are half the current size and price. Also, it must double the energy density. In the meantime, partnerships and grants can make production of electric trucks possible.

Electric Trucks - Future

The depletion of the conventional sources of energy have made researchers seek alternative sources to power vehicles. Additionally, vehicles need to be designed and structured in such a way that is compatible with alternative sources of energy. Thus, conservation of nature has been a driving concern behind a lof of the recent innovations.
Since trucks were first used in the late nineteenth century, they have come a long way. The future seems quite exciting as truck manufacturing companies are aiming to build electronic and autonomous trucks. Trucking had altered the way America did business and a lot is set to change in the coming years as well. With Tesla, Volvo, Daimler and other truck giants about to launch electric trucks in a few years, the future of trucking never seemed so promising and exciting.

A Brief History of Electric Trucks

The first crude yet viable electric motor which could power a tiny car was built by ÁnyosJedik, a Hungarian priest in 1827. 28% of vehicles running on American roads in 1900 was actually powered by electricity. Milburn electrics was the vehicle used by President Woodrow Wilson and his team of secret service agents to travel around Washington, DC. Once charged, the vehicle could travel a distance of approximately 60-70 miles. Though, initially electric vehicles did not have rechargeable batteries. The first electric carriage was invented somewhere around 1832-1839 in Scotland by Robert Anderson. It ran on primary cells which were non-rechargeable. The nickel-iron battery was one of the kinds of rechargeable batteries.
Of the many companies that produced and sold electrical vehicles, Baker Electric, Detroit Electric and Columbia Electric were quite notable.

Why did electric vehicles lose their prominence?

Cars powered by internal combustion became cheaper. Also large petroleum reserves were found in Oklahoma, California and Texas. Additionally, roads outside urban areas began to improve. Due to the availability of better roads, cars with internal combustion engines became a more popular choice.
In 1913, Henry Ford introduced a line of gasoline-powered vehicles. These vehicles were mass produced which lowered the price. Gasoline vehicles became more and more popular. The electrical vehicles began to lose ground, only to come back with a bang after nearly a century.

Can use electricity generated by non-conventional sources

Electrical vehicles need electricity to recharge batteries. Apart from fossil fuels, this electricity can also be generated from renewable sources like solar, wind and tidal energy.

Leaking oil from conventional engines

The conventional engine may leak oil. If not detected in time, this can lead to damages. Electric vehicles do not have this fear as they run on rechargeable batteries.

Regenerative braking

Regenerative braking is one of the key advantages of plug-in or hybrid electric vehicles. In a hybrid vehicle a conventional way of propulsion is often merged with an electric one. This braking system helps an electric vehicle gain back the kinetic energy which is usually lost as heat during friction braking. Types of Electric Vehicles available

Electric vehicles can recharge batteries from a number of energy sources:

HEV or Hybrid Electric Vehicle

Instead of using only a traditional engine, a HEV or Hybrid Electric Vehicle, adds to the engine an electrical option. By using regenerative brakes, HEVs convert kinetic energy into electric energy as mentioned above. These vehicles use both electric energy and use gas or diesel to operate.

PHEV or Plug-in Electric Vehicle

A hybrid electric vehicle which has a battery that has the option of being recharged by plugging it into an external source of energy is called PHEV or Plug-in Electric Vehicle. These vehicles use electricity for short distances. When the battery is over, the driver can switch over to the conventional combustion engine. BEV or Battery Electric Vehicle

This type of vehicle uses chemical energy stored in its rechargeable batteries. This is a pure electric vehicle. Being battery operated, BEV vehicles do not have a combustion engine. Instead, it uses electric motors along with motor controllers.

FHEV or Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle

This type of vehiclehas an electric motor, that is recharged by the chemical reaction of oxygen and hydrogen. It is true that some emissions are created while the hydrogen is produced for the fuel cells. However, water is the only waste product while an FHEV is driven.

Autonomous Vehicles

The advancement of electrical vehicles in recent years calls for another futuristic feature in trucking: autonomous driving. The concept of autonomous driving began with the notion of ‘driver assistance’ or ‘assisted driving’. It aims to have completely driverless vehicles or a vehicle where the people inside are passengers. Undoubtedly, the concept of autonomous driving demands an advanced technology with superior sensors. P C Mag has defined an autonomous car as, “A computer-controlled car that drives itself.” Autonomous trucks can save a lot of money too. Morgan Stanley estimates that if American trucks are made autonomous, $168 billion can be saved each year. Though, we are still many years away from full autonomous driving as of now. Autonomous driving has been set to five stages. The fifth stage is considered the most technically and mechanically advanced one:

Stage 0 – No Automation

Vehicles controlled by human drivers and without any sort of support from computerized driver assistance system is considered stage 0 or ‘No Automation’.

Stage 1 – Driver Assistance

Vehicles in ‘Driver assistance’ level or stage 1 are jointly controlled by the driver and a computerized automated system. There are a number of ways in which this system can work. A driver usually always controls the steering, while the automated system may have certain control over the brakes and speed of the vehicle when required. At times the engine power is controlled by the automated system which ensures that the vehicle can maintain a specific speed. At times parking assistance is also available with this automated system. Here, the speed of the vehicle is controlled manually while the steering is done automatically. However, the driver has to be alert and ready to take up the control if any problem arises. This type of driving is also called ‘hands on’ driving.

Stage 2 – Partly Automated Driving

In stage 2 or the ‘Partly Automated Driving’ level, the driver monitors the driving process while it is conducted by the automated system. If in any situation or condition, the automated system cannot do its job or fails to respond, the driver has to take up manual controls immediately. This stage is at times called ‘hands off’. In this stage it is mandatory for the driver to keep hands on the steering wheel at all times. This mandate is for safety purposes. Having the driver constantly holding the steering wheel means that immediate manual control of the vehicle can be taken up during any situation.

Stage 3 – Highly Automated Driving

The ‘Highly Automated Driving’ level is commonly called ‘eyes off’ level. This means that the driver is not required to constantly monitor the driving or look at the road ahead. The automated system will be able to perform on its own and without any human interference. If any problem occurs, automatically the emergency brakes are applied. Though the driver can usually do personal work while the vehicle is on the road, during adverse or critical conditions human intervention may be required. These situations will be specified by the manufacturer before-hand.

Stage 4- Fully Automated Driving

In the ‘Fully Automated Driving’ the human driver is allowed to take their ‘mind off’ in most of the situations. The driver may sleep or do other work in other part of the vehicle as the vehicle is capable to look after its own safety. This type of vehicle is capable of completing the journey and park itself. However, during traffic jams (which falls under ‘special circumstances’ category) or tight-spaced areas, the vehicle has to be operated by a human driver.

Stage 5- Full Automation

In a vehicle having ‘Full Automation’, the steering wheel is optional. Hence, it does not require any human intervention for any aspect related to driving. Through this type of vehicle, full automation is achieved.

What is our present stage in Truck automation?

Volvo’s VNL and Pleton’s Platooning System are examples of trucks that are available in the trucking market today that have Stage 1 automation. Under the Stage 2 automated truck category, the new 2020 Cascadia will be the first truck in Northern America according to Freightliner. It will begin production from July, 2019. Embark and Starsky Robotics are the two other Stage 2 automated trucks that will be available in the future but at present are in pre-commercial stage. Freightliner Inspiration and Uber Otto are trucks that fulfill the criteria of the Stage 3 automation. However, at present they are only available in prototype retrofits. The Freightliner Inspiration was the first automated truck to be licensed to operate on the highways of the country back in 2015.
At the CES electronics show in Las Vegas on 7th January, 2019, Daimler trucks announced that it will invest more than half a billion dollars and create 200 new jobs in its global endeavor to launch Stage 4 or highly automated trucks in about 10 years. The switch from Stage 2 to Stage 4 is natural and hence the step of conditional automation is being skipped as according to Daimler, conditional automation will not provide any extra advantage to the truck drivers. In the 3rd stage of automated driving, drivers can go about doing other work but have to take immediate control if the system cannot tackle the situation. The mental and physical switch from leisure to prompt action may not be as quick as required thus, it is judicious to skip the Stage 3 altogether. Additionally, Stage 4 will ensure optimal utilization of the trucks. They will be able to travel at night and avoid traffic congestion by smart route management. Future of trucking is looking very promising with autonomous vehicles.

Platooning in Trucks

Another trucking innovation in the near future is platooning. Platooning is the coupling of two or more trucks to form a convoy through the use of automated driving support system and connectivity technology. The ways in which platooning works is:

• The trucks maintain a set automatically.
• The space between the trucks is reduced when the trucks are connected to each other during certain parts of the haul. This reduction of gap between the vehicles improves the aerodynamics which in turn improves fuel efficiency.

Peloton Technology plans to commercially introduce a platooning system that is partially automated. This system at present allows two trucks to work in a close chain. Peloton technology’s PlatoonPro is already being used in fleet operation by six of its clients.
The features of Platooning system by Peloton Technology:

• In the PlatoonPro system, the driver of the rear truck steers the vehicle.
• The powertrain and brakes are controlled by the PlatoonPro system. This allows the vehicles to follow one another at a small gap.
• According to Peloton Technology, the PlatoonPro system ensures average fuel savings of 7%.
• The Automated Following system is a combination of radar-based active braking and software with vehicle-to-vehicle communication. This allows the human driver to guide the steering, acceleration and braking of the following trucks. The human driver will also be able to connect the trucks’ safety systems with little or no latency.
• According to Peloton Technology, the L4 Automated Following truck will double the freight a truck driver is able to haul in one trip.

Usefulness of platooning

Platooning is said to have a number of benefits for the future of trucking:

Improved safety

Truck platooning is said to improve the safety of the convoy as the brakes of all the trucks can be applied automatically and immediately. It has been seen that during truck platooning, automated brakes take one-fifth of the human time to analyze the road condition and apply the brakes.

Efficient performance

There can be optimal utilization of roads in the platooning system, increasing the range of the roads and avoiding traffic jams. As a consequence, goods can be delivered quickly and efficiently.

Cleaner environment

During truck platooning, the Carbon Dioxide emissions can be reduced along with fuel consumption. The air-drag friction is also considerately reduced as the trucks drive close to one another.
However, Platooning is not really as fuel-effective as it is being claimed by some. Daimler has said that during testing of the platooning system its fuel savings are less than estimated even in perfect conditions. These savings are further reduced if the platoon is disconnected and have to be accelerated again to get reconnected.

Shipper Platform: Uber Freight and Amazon Freight

Freight brokerage connects shippers with the appropriate carriers. Recently, technology is playing a role in this aspect as well with Shipper Platforms.
The Trucking business was taken by storm with the introduction of shipper platforms like Uber Freight. Shipper platforms connect shippers with small fleets hauling freight via a load-matching feature. Uber Freight launched its load-booking app in May, 2017. The main intention behind the launch of Uber Freight was automating the manual processes of shipper selection and increasing market visibility. It was also intended to relieve shippers from time consuming legal proceedings and the anxiety of getting the best possible deal. This is one of the many ways on how owner operators can find loads.
The features of Shipper Platforms and how they may impact the future of trucking:

• Carriers can book a load with just the click of a button.
• Shippers can instantly connect to a network of drivers and fleets of the Uber network and manage shipments from their office or home.
• Uber freight enables shippers to tender a load with the click of a few buttons saving time and energy.
• Transparency of quotes helps shippers know the marketplace pricing instantly. The Uber Freight’s rates are current on-going marketplace rates which are generated in real-time.
• The vast network of drivers and small fleets with Uber Freight ensures that reliable and appropriate fleets are chosen.
• Shipments can be tracked. For every major milestone, automatic notifications are sent to the shippers.
• Uber Freight’s Uber Freight Plus has a loyalty program. It gives the drivers fuel discounts, servicing discounts, and helps in the purchase of old and new trucks among other features.
• With the completion of the delivery, all the necessary documents are arranged automatically for shippers.

Uber also reported that the freight division has a network of more than 50,000 carriers and mentioned that some of the largest carriers in the country are users of the app. However, it has not been all great for Uber Freight since its launch. Uber Freight posted a loss of $64 million in the first quarter of 2020. According to CNBC, Uber Freight gives 99% of the revenue generated to the trucking companies, which leaves little room for profitability.
There may also be a few other reasons why Uber Freight has not been fully able to live up to its vision:

Rudimentary features

With the growth of GPS tracking and ELD devices, merely providing shippers the details of the truck’s location is not unique. Shippers also need to know the route the truck is taking and the HOS data.

Not so reliable in fleet and driver selection

In Uber Freight there is not a lot of barrier to sign up. All carriers do not have to provide basic requirements like an active DOT/ MC number, proper safety ratings or proof of insurance. A shipper may not feel comfortable about doing business with such carriers.

Shortage of drivers

Uber Freight provides drivers a number of perks. In spite of this, driver shortage is quite a problem. Drivers will want a steady job that ensures a good livelihood. Hence, many drivers will prefer to work with a trucking company with regular pay, rather than rely completely on Uber Freight.

Focus on shippers rather than carriers

While launching the load-booking app, the shippers’ perspective was given a lot of importance as the price transparency feature shows. However, the carriers are an integral part of the trucking business too. Apart from the loyalty program there has not been a push to ensure that carriers get steady and constant work through Uber Freight.
Uber Freight is not deterred from their path though, and mentioned recently in 2020 that their focus is still there to grow the Uber Freight business.
Amazon has also launched its own freight app, ‘Amazon Freight’. Amazon Freight was released quite quietly some time in 2016 or 2017. This app allows truck drivers to take up jobs of hauling Amazon packages in Prime-branded trailers across the country.
Fleets can sign up through the website and hauling assignments get allotted accordingly. There are a few requirements which drivers have to fulfill:

• A fleet should have at least 3 trucks.
• The trucking company should have its own DOT/MC number.

Amazon tried to use the truck drivers base and enhance its business via the Amazon Freight service. However, truckers do not see a good livelihood coming from only hauling Amazon trailers. Anecdotal evidence says that the payment is fairly low. It can be kept as an option, or can be opted as back-hauling. Doing business exclusively with Amazon Freight is said to not be fully profitable. In spite of the initial setbacks, Uber Freight and Amazon Freight are changing the future of the trucking business.
Amazon launched its freight app ‘Relay’ in 2018. It operates in 5 states—Connecticut, New Jersey, Maryland, New York and Pennsylvania. Its aim is to give truckers additional freight information. It has features like route tracking and expedited checking procedures at the warehouses. It has been designed to help truckers get faster entry and exit at the Amazon warehouses. It is Amazon’s first attempt at automating the truck delivery process.

The trucking industry in general has certain inefficiencies. Deals can take time to get finalized. The related paperwork is again, time-consuming and hectic. The trucking industry needs an open platform where shippers and carriers can view each others profile, get the selection process done in less time and get the load rolling. However, how will this be possible? The Blockchain is kindling hopes of achieving a seamless and frictionless trucking system. First, let's understand the basics of blockchain and how it can make the trucking space a community where work can get done more efficiently.

What is Blockchain?

Blockchain is an open digital ledger. It is a business network where transactions can be recorded along with tracking of assets. Blockchain technology is inherently based on cryptography, a complicated branch of mathematics. Blockchain is also decentralized. It depends on the consensus of a peer network spread across the world to function. This digital ledger is made up of a series of ‘blocks’. The blocks are the bundles of transactions which are connected together in an open ‘chain’. The data entered in the blockchain is considered to be true and valid. As being a decentralized forum, there is no single authority to verify the facts. Everyone is always on the same page. For a parcel to be delivered in the same day or in 2 hours, the technology should not have any glitch. The traditional trucking technology largely relies on paperwork at every stop can not be suitable for such a fast-paced delivery. The blockchain technology with its immediate access to order tracking and authentication ensures that the delivery takes place in the required time.
At times, trucking companies order spare truck parts and also old trucks. The tracking of these spare parts or old trucks can be pretty exhausting as no proper forum is provided for constant tracking. However, the blockchain network will enable the efficient tracking of the supply chain as well.

As mentioned above consumer expectations are ever-increasing along with demands for same-day delivery and two-hour delivery. Blockchain will not only take care of the tracking of the shipments but also help in authentication.

EDI or electronic data interchange and API or application program interface leaves room for data manipulation or misinterpretation. Blockchain has the backup of the entire network to contribute information and authenticate the data. Hence, there is no scope of data tampering. Blockchain also improves the efficiency of temperature controlled and refrigerated trucking which is reliant on on-time delivery by giving data backup at every step.

IoT (The Internet of Things) and AI (Artificial Intelligence) enhance monitoring efficiency

Carriers and shippers can detect the total space taken up by a shipment in a trailer with the help of IoT.
