I’m in Florida, I have a felony for dealing in stolen property. My offense is from March 2018 but conviction/sentencing wasn’t until Oct. 2021 due to Covid pushing back court dates and my public defender trying to get me a plea deal.
I’m on probation until Oct. 2024. After Hurricane Ian hit I lost my home and job and had to move to a town in the middle of no where because it’s the only rental I could find that would approve me with a felony and my fiance was offered a construction job here.
I can not find anywhere here that will hire me. Got hired at dollar general, then got an adverse letter, went through interviews at places and was sure I’d get hired then didn’t because of my background.
Does anyone have advice? Im looking at work from home jobs now and most won’t hire me because of this. Im getting so depressed and hate relying on my fiance to provide everything financially for us and our daughter. I made a mistake 4 1/2 yrs ago when I was an addict. I’ve been clean and sober since 2018 and just want to help provide for my family.

Texas was done dirty this season. Many of the semi finalist (Tuesday, Madelynne, Aimee, Julianna and Nida) are all from Texas (Brittany also lived there for a while) and for some reason, Ren was casted? The reason why is because they wanted someone to create drama and all the top 20 remaining girls were nice (except one) so they brought Ren.
Hallie was a top 20 girl, and she was bratty and spoiled. So why wasn't she casted? Both her and production found out that she was pregnant so she couldn't continue.

In 2009, my then boyfriend, bought a very nice home and we were going to live in it together at some point. He decided not to move in, I had two teenage boys. He said he already raised one of his ex-wife’s boys and didn’t think it would work. I was crushed. He said I could remain living in the house and he wanted to remain in the relationship. I was younger then and stayed with him thinking he may change his mind. I also had never lived in such a nice home in such a safe neighborhood since I was a kid. He lived in his own house an hour away. And he had a place in Golden, CO also. Initially I said I feel like I should pay rent and so I paid enough to cover the taxes. We never had a rental agreement or lease. I was working two jobs to make ends meet and he told me to hold off on making payments. That helped me tremendously of course. Years went by, he moved to Colorado, would come to see me sometimes. Acted like we were a couple when he felt like it. I was happy and settled in the nice house in the safe neighborhood with my kids who loved the house and neighborhood too. Dysfunctional relationship it has been. 8 yrs ago, he moved to Florida and built a mansion on the beach. He still lives there. There’s a lot about the relationship dynamics that would take a lot to try to explain. He’s invited to Florida a couple times. I’ll mention that I quit drinking 8 yrs ago. He drinks heavily. I honestly had a couple serious health issues, I was also afraid I’d want to drink if I went there. The combo of the vacation, beach, party atmosphere and the fact that the relationship after I got healthy was like friends that talked on the phone occasionally. He has been kinder to me as he’s gotten older in terms of talking to me about more than just sex stuff. I’m 15 yrs younger and he literally told me many times that he’s with me because of what I look like and some other hurtful stuff. Anyway, I never went to Florida. And he didn’t come here when I had serious spinal cord surgery, and I got a list of things. But it doesn’t matter. Here’s my question: I have paid him money at certain times, he would tip up the check often. But I don’t have a lease or agreement and now he wants me to find another place. He is done with me because I never visited him in 8 years and that speaks volumes, he said. Ok. I agree. It does. And I plan to find a place. I have a few hundred dollars in savings, I was off work on long term disability before & after my spinal cord surgery. I lost my job, my insurance, and had a long rehab. I was cleared to work , and I do, but it’s physical work and my body is not the same after surgery. But I’m working two jobs. And trying to pay off credit card debt ( I used those to pay bills and living expenses when off work) that has caused my credit to dip down. I will repair my credit, but it takes time. I can’t rent a place with my score. Plus, no money for rent, deposit and moving costs right at this point. Inflation is sky high. I’m barely making it. But it will all get better in time. Omg, I’m sorry I’m all over the place. If he gave me two weeks to be gone, I have no family left, not sure what I will do. He has not said a time frame. But he is severe and I want to move ASAP to avoid anything untoward. Since I have no lease, do I have a certain time to be out by? Or exactly when he says. Been struggling financially, had a payment arrangement, which we’ve paid on time, but have been running late on this month’s rent. Came home to notification we are being sued for eviction.
I know Florida has heavy squatter’s rights but from what I’m seeing they are very different from renters rights.
We are legit making efforts to get caught up, I have no interest in doing wrong by the rental company, but I have a wife and three kids. She is a full time mom.
Can anyone explain my options like I’m five? I reached out to the management company and am waiting to hear back.

See, why does a house which only cost 350k-400k in construction cost 2million in market? It is only cos, there r only few thousand existing houses out there in market for sale, against millions of families who wants a home. GET IT...The extra million price you pay is for the "land" and not for the house you all.....
So if you wanna buy a house on 'current' market, yes you cannot afford it. So why not buy a land, and slowly build a house? Not yourself, of course getting help from contractors at each step. Canada is the only country where people even in 2023 ONLY wants to buy existing houses or new condos which cost millions and then complain about it?
See in 2023, your problem is not a house, your problem is LAND. You need land first.
People in Japan/Ireland/Dubai crying that housing is expensive makes sense, cos its a small country with less land. But Canada Oh' please all you have is land, not just in northern Ontario, even 1-2 hours from Toronto, plenty of or thousands of acres of land, Don't you have eyes, can't u see?
But it is called CROWN Land or green belt and government won't sell it to common people for house construction even in 2023 when people are going homeless? That is the biggest loot your government is doing to you? So when are you going to open your eyes and senses? Wait, but your govt does lease or even sell it to co-operates?
The only way Canadians could get a decent housing by next decade is, government needs to bring a plan, to give out at least 10cents of land to families (for a decent amount of course, not 100 thousands or millions), so all they have to worry now is about construction and which people have slowly plan in 2-5 years, save up or loan out or anyways by surely won't cost millions.
Canada is not in 1980s or 90s when lot of houses where available at a cheap cost that you could have afforded with a decent combined family income. This is 2023, you are looking at 2million dollar house with a 50k average income is not practical. You need land? so why not fight for it?
How long are you going to live in rentals, when a 1.5 million house requires you a 100k income and 200k down payment? Please don't be clowns and wait for market to crash, government is welcoming millions of immigrants (of course for the work force this decade) and they all will need homes too. And we also got millennials too on the seen. And gen-Z like me is also there by now. We all need affordability. So this market is never going down or crash.

My son is looking to rent a condo from a couple in Florida. The lease agreement has some areas that seem a bit strange to me. He is 25, doesn't make much money and is living in Tampa which has very expensive rent. The landlord putting the cost of appliance repairs on the tenant seems wrong. We have no idea how old the washedryer and garbage disposal are. Or what condition they are in. If the refrigerator breaks, they expect my son to buy them a new one?! That seems nuts!
We understand basic plumbing should be his responsibility but if there are issues within the walls from old pipes, that should be on the landlord. We have no idea if there have been previous issues.

So turns out she's not a sweet, kind, caring, fair, honest person. She's schizophrenic, or has dementia, paranoia, psychosis, BPD, NPD, and or multiple personality disorder, or all of the above. She's a raging alcoholic, and drug addicted. Her best friend is a heroin user and her former Oxy supplier. He stayed here awhile, but was arrested. But may be released, and return, and will be wanting to take my living space, which I strongly suspect is her dirty plan, and why she is trying to run me off her property.
She picks fights daily, degrades and humiliates me. I try to ignore it while I search for better, safer, more stable housing. But I'm also not known for my patience with control freaks, bullies and tyrants.
If I snap I may also be arrested. Or extorted by her.
I stay in a cabin (storage shed really) with no running water. The bathroom, washing machine and freezer are all inside her home. Necessities one and all. Then, she locked me out of her house. Can't shower, shit piss or shave, or wash my clothes, or get at the food i bought in her freezer.
Gets worse if you have the time. I'm out in the boonies, with no car or public transportation. I'm 100% dependent on her for my survival. And I'm starting to feel like that dude in the Stephen King novel and movie titled; Misery

My landlord wants to sell the condo and is trying to evict me in bad faith. And I was wondering, if I want to propose a cash for keys deal, if I hire a paralegal can they negotiate the deal on my behalf with my landlord? Or, they can't help with the negotiation but can only help me look at the agreement after I have negotiated the deal with him?

Hi all, just picked up the keys to a rental which has a cork tile kitchen. There's a huge dark gash in the cork where the fridge goes (evidently from dragging the fridge across the floor) with some missing chunks and raw exposed cork, and some of the topcoat along the gash has started peeling and flaking off - looks a lot like polyurethane 'orange peel'.
I obviously won't touch anything without the owner's permission, but I'm wondering if there's anything that could be done about this, short of replacing the damaged tiles? Would be great to at least do something to protect this fragile area of flooring during our stay (both from impact and moisture!) Will be back this weekend and can share a photo then.

We are planning to move from Central Florida to Henderson Nevada. The drive is around 34 hours, a drive I told her we could make in 3 days but more realistically probably 3 1/2. My fiancé is greatly opposed to the idea and says it should take no less than 5. She would like to take a more circuitous route as well, hitting up New Orleans, Houston and a few places in Texas as well as sightseeing in New Mexico and Arizona.
My plan is take the most direct route, hopefully drive 10+ hours the first day and then 8-10 the next two with a short half day to get in and pick up the keys for the apartment on the last day.
We will be driving our car and shipping our furniture there but my thought is I want to get there ASAP, I don’t want to spend unnecessary time with a car load of valuables, and we’re already going to be out of work for a week I’d hate to make it longer.

Your new Apple show, Bad Monkey, sounds like it’s meant to be a departure from the kind of show you typically make. It’s got more of a dramatic, mystery-solving engine, right?
BL: It’s hard. There’s a big thing in Hollywood where, when you feel like you’ve done the same thing for a long time, you think you have to do something different. So on one hand, I love doing shows that have emotional stakes, that are about something. And Bad Monkey is another weird genre thing; it’s an hour-long but very Elmore Leonard. Bad Monkey is a book by Carl Hiaasen, and he and Lenoard were buddies before Elmore Leonard died. They’re character books that masquerade as airplane books.
But for Bad Monkey, there is no indie music or emotional undercurrent. It’s just a goofy, fun, rompy caper thing in the Keys in Florida. I hope it works. I feel unsure of myself, but the cast, I got lucky again. Jodie Turner-Smith is so good, and Meredith Hagner from Search Party, and Michelle Monaghan, and Alex Moffat, and Vince Vaughn, and John Ortiz.
Is it challenging to work on caper-style plots after writing comedy plots for so long?
BL: Yeah, I had to hire a lot of really good hour-long writers who said things like “body drop” and “stakes.” Look, it’ll either be a disaster or a success. The same way these shows are a mixture of drama and comedy, it’s a mixture of raucous dialogue-driven comedy with stakes and murder.
Is it meant to be a limited series?
BL: The first season is Bad Monkey, which Carl wrote with a beginning, middle, and end. But Carl was my favorite author as a kid, and he wrote a sequel to Bad Monkey called Razor Girl that we also have. I don’t want to get caught in the thing where you’re like, “It’s okay that there’s no other book! We’ll do another year and it’ll be great!”
