2023.06.09 23:58 Candid_Bar_3484 Why did anti-youth sentiment exist in ancient times as well? And was there ever a time when young and old people treated each other with equal amounts of respect?

One of the most depressing things to know is seeing that anti-youth sentiment has existed since ancient times. For example, the Ancient Greek poet Hesiod said "I see no hope for the future of our people if they are dependent on the frivolous youth of today, for certainly all youth are reckless beyond words. When I was a boy, we were taught to be discrete and respectful of elders, but the present youth are exceedingly wise and impatient of restraint." At the same time, Plato also claimed "What is happening to our young people? They disrespect their elders, they disobey their parents. They ignore the law. They riot in the streets, inflamed with wild notions. Their morals are decaying. What is to become of them?"
Similarly, in 1247 AD, Peter the Hermit also said "The young people of today think of nothing but themselves. They have no reverence for parents or old age. They are impatient of all restraint ... As for the girls, they are forward, immodest and unladylike in speech, behaviour and dress."
Hell, even the quote "We live in a decaying age. Young people no longer respect their parents. They are rude and impatient. They frequently inhabit taverns and have no self-control."- was even found inscribed on a 6000-year old Egyptian tomb.

It's honestly really frustrating to see that anti-youth sentiment dates back all the way to the earliest civilizations. So, I wanna ask. Does anyone know why this happens? And was there ever a time when youth and elders respected each other as equals?

2023.06.09 23:58 sclark89 2018 Elantra SE anti theft software update rescinded?

I have a 2018 Elantra SE and at the beginning of the year I received a recall letter about the anti-theft software update, and then several more letters and emails. I've procrastinated going in to get that done and now I'm finally getting around to it. I tried to schedule it with my dealership and it didn't seem to have record of that. Then I went to Hyundai's anti-theft recall site and put my VIN in and it says the software upgrade for my car is not available. Called the dealership and they were confused about why they couldn't pull it up, or why I've even received the letter. They suggested I schedule an appointment and bring the recall letter with me. Does anyone have any insight on what's going on?

2023.06.09 23:58 Rabidwolf96 Looking for opinions and ideas about DND weapons.

For the record, I am NOT talking about magic items. I am talking about base form weapons simple, range, finness and martial. I'm a long time player and DM. I really love to mostly play Homebrew games that I make with my friends and my brother. I've recently come up with an issue that just won't get out of my head. Every new book comes and goes bringing up new sub glasses, feats, spells ,magic items enemies ,monsters etc. which is all well and good, my problem is with each new book that comes out there's never been more weapons added to the game. Only 33 in all categories. To be fair there is only so many forms "sharp metal object with a handle" can be devised that wouldn't be repetitive. And I know that logically. Such as a long sword, a bastard sword and an arming sword all have their own little differences but they all have very similar basic size shape length that mechanically speaking they probably be same exact type of damage dice with the same weapon tags. But therein lies my issue there's not a lot of variety with the weapon tags. An older editions of the game they had exotic weapons as well which were pretty silly sometimes but also kind of fun. I want more weapon variety that includes different combinations of the weapon tags. For example in an upcoming game I'm playing a strange combination of a barbarian rogue ( path of the Giant with 2 level dip for rogue) in the game we're all part of a crime syndicate that has decided to run the Robin Hood route of using our skills to help people. The problem is other than the rapier which is a d8 all other finance weapons are just so low and we wanted to use path of the Giant ability to make large barbarian weapons become range weapons to have an unusual sneak attack. this got me thinking about this topic again because I thought of other real life weapons that you would consider a finesse weapon that aren't in the weapon base forms. Such as I was playing Elden ring and they have a rapier, and then they even have a great rapier, which at first I thought was really silly, but that was also kind of fun and so I thought how I would fit that into D&D, without making it feel like I'm just cheating. And the thought train of weapons I would like in a game never stopped, like the whip sword of India, or the Japanese man-catcher, Khopesh, boomerang, Kusarigama, blade staff, cat o nine tails, chakram, great bows , wrist blades and so many more. I am a big weapon nerd and I feel like there should just be so many more options and combinations.
So my question to y'all is do you feel like the 33 base weapons is truly enough?
Or if you want more variety with more unusual combined weapon tags?
Do you think their should be an exotic weapon list like in previous editions?
And if you did, what are some ideas you would have for a exotic or unique weapons table, the tags you could put on them and the dice you would set for them?

2023.06.09 23:58 classicalproses Drug test question

Hi all, hope this is appropriate to post here. I’m really needing some advice or reassurance. I just got offered my dream job and it’s in NY. Unfortunately, the drug test will be within the next two weeks and due to my heavy use I know it won’t be enough time to be clear for THC on the screen. For what it’s worth, I live in CT and have a medical card. I’m really freaking out about it, but from all the googling I’ve done it seems like NY is generally a pretty solid state when it comes to protecting people re: weed and employment. Does anyone happen to have any insight into drug testing for a non-profit and whether you think they’ll care about THC? I know it probably just varies from place to place, but if someone happens to have gotten a job at a nonprofit recently and had this issue I’d love to hear about your experience. The thought that this could affect my dream job is truly keeping me up at night. :(

Lore:
In the late 19th century, during the unsettling era of the Industrial Revolution, a small farming community nestled deep within the heartland of a forgotten country thrived under the care of a diligent and compassionate farmer named Jonathan Blackwood. As the crops flourished, so did the hopes and dreams of the townsfolk who relied on the bountiful harvest to sustain their humble lives.
Jonathan possessed an uncanny talent for tending to the land, seemingly blessed by nature itself. With his expertise, the fields yielded more than ever before, and the villagers marveled at the abundance of food that spilled forth from the earth. The sight of the flourishing crops enchanted the townsfolk, and their admiration for Jonathan soon transformed into something akin to worship.
However, as the seasons passed, the prosperity that once enveloped the farming community began to wane. The crops withered, livestock perished, and a sense of despair hung heavily in the air. Blighted by a mysterious blight that defied explanation, the town faced an imminent threat of famine.
Desperate to save his beloved community, Jonathan turned to the forbidden arts of the occult. Rumors whispered of his nocturnal excursions to ancient burial grounds, where he sought guidance from the spirits of the departed. Driven by his love for the people who depended on him, Jonathan was willing to do whatever it took to restore the land's fertility and safeguard their futures.
It was during one fateful moonlit night that Jonathan stumbled upon a hidden chamber within an ancient burial mound. Within its depths lay an ornate lantern, its ethereal glow pulsating with a sinister energy. Overwhelmed by a mixture of awe and trepidation, Jonathan cautiously reached out and touched the lantern, and as his fingers brushed against its surface, an unholy pact was forged.
The spirit that inhabited the lantern, a malevolent entity known as Mirage, sought vengeance for its own tragic demise centuries earlier. Empowered by the farmer's desperation, it offered Jonathan a twisted bargain. In exchange for the spirit's guidance and the restoration of the land, Jonathan would become the vessel through which the spirit would unleash its wrath upon the world.
Blinded by his desire to save his community, Jonathan accepted the wicked pact. In that moment, Mirage's essence seeped into his very being, transforming him into a grotesque amalgamation of man and spirit. The once kind-hearted farmer was reborn as The Scarecrow, a twisted figure shrouded in tattered garments and adorned with straw-stuffed limbs, his hollow eyes burning with otherworldly fury.
With the newfound powers granted by Mirage, The Scarecrow returned to his dying community. As he roamed the moonlit fields, the eerie glow of the lantern he now wielded cast long, haunting shadows across the barren landscape. The presence of The Scarecrow alone brought terror to the hearts of the townsfolk, as they realized that their beloved farmer had been irrevocably changed by dark forces.
No longer bound by the limitations of mortal flesh, The Scarecrow's malevolence manifested through the powers of the lantern. As he stalked his prey, the lantern's glow intensified, and an oppressive mist engulfed the surroundings. Within this ethereal fog, the Hunted found their senses dulled, their movements slowed, and their chances of survival diminished.
The Scarecrow reveled in the torment of his victims, deriving sadistic pleasure from their despair. The once benevolent farmer had become an embodiment of fear, a being who lurked within the mist, harvesting the souls of those unfortunate enough to cross his path. The townsfolk's worship had been replaced by fear.

Altan's life was forever changed when she became an unwitting pawn, kidnapped by a ruthless faction as leverage in their political machinations.
Altan Khulan was torn from her family, her fate sealed as she became a captive in the midst of the war. The ruthless faction saw her as a means to exert control, a bargaining chip to manipulate their enemies. Her spirit shattered by the cruelty of her captors, Altan yearned for freedom and the reunion with her loved ones, but the fog of war veiled her hopes in darkness.
Days turned into nights, and nights into weeks, as Altan's captivity persisted. In the depths of her despair, she discovered a sliver of solace in the haunting whispers of the wind. In the darkest moments, a mysterious force resonated within her, resonating with her anguish and offering an opportunity for vengeance and release.
With each passing day, Altan's resolve hardened, transforming her from a vulnerable captive into a woman fueled by an unquenchable fury. In the depths of her despair, a dormant power awakened within her, granting her the mantle of the Banshee, a harbinger of woe and retribution.
Empowered by the spirit of vengeance, Altan embraced her newfound abilities and cast aside her former name. She became the Banshee, a spectral embodiment of her rage and sorrow. No longer bound by the mortal coil, she could traverse the ethereal plane and wield her spirit as a weapon, piercing the hearts of those who dared to stand in her way.

Lore:
The Prowler, a relentless and sinister hunter in the fog, once roamed the mountain resort with malicious intent. This man, whose identity remains shrouded in darkness, made the resort his hunting ground, preying upon unsuspecting victims with his deadly arsenal of a bow and arrow, traps, and a saw. His twisted desires drove him to kidnap and torment those unfortunate enough to cross his path.
One fateful day, a group of young adults arrived at the mountain resort, seeking a memorable getaway. Little did they know, their presence would become a horrifying chapter in the Prowler's dark tale. Among them were Kris, Kayley, Olivia, Kyler, Jamison, Ethan, Emma, Kara, and Anthony, each unaware of the imminent danger that awaited them.
Tragedy struck swiftly and mercilessly. Kris, a young woman full of life, tragically lost her footing and met a grim fate as her neck snapped upon impact. Kayley, another unsuspecting victim, bled out, her life force draining away. Jamison, overcome by a series of treacherous traps, met a gruesome end as his head was ensnared within their clutches. Ethan, wounded by an arrow piercing his shoulder, faced a brutal demise with his neck swiftly snapped. Emma, consumed by the unforgiving snow, was buried and suffocated beneath its icy grasp. Kara, too, fell victim to the Prowler's relentless pursuit, succumbing to a blood-soaked demise.
Yet, amidst the horrors that unfolded, three survivors emerged—Olivia, Anthony, and Kyler. In their desperate bid for survival, they managed to wound the Prowler, albeit only slightly. But in a cruel twist of fate, Anthony suffered a grievous loss, his three fingers severed in the struggle against the sadistic hunter. As they reported their harrowing ordeal to the authorities, the police were led to the mountain resort, only to discover an eerie absence. The Prowler, consumed by the ominous fog that enshrouded the realm, had vanished without a trace.
Now forever lost within the fog, the Prowler roams the twisted realm of Bloodhunt, his insatiable hunger for victims driving him to relentlessly pursue those who dare to enter his domain. The echoes of his past atrocities continue to reverberate through the mountains, serving as a haunting reminder of the terror he once inflicted upon unsuspecting souls. Olivia, Anthony, and Kyler, forever marked by their encounters with the Prowler, find themselves forever changed by their near-death experience, haunted by the nightmares that unfolded on that fateful day.
As the survivors venture into the fog-ridden realm, they must face the eternal darkness that now encompasses the Prowler. The hunt has begun anew, and their only hope for escape lies in outsmarting and evading the remorseless predator that lurks within.

Lore:
In the shadows of the 1970s, when crime and corruption permeated the streets, John Carlson emerged as a seasoned detective with a reputation for his tenacity and resourcefulness. Born and raised in a city plagued by lawlessness, John had a front-row seat to the injustices that unfolded daily. Determined to restore order and bring criminals to justice, he dedicated himself to his work, earning the respect of both his colleagues and the community he served.
John possessed an uncanny ability to uncover the truth, seeing beyond the façade and deciphering the intricate web of lies spun by criminals. His sharp mind and keen instincts made him a formidable adversary to those who sought to evade justice. However, as John delved deeper into the dark underbelly of the city, he unwittingly stumbled upon a secret society that thrived in the shadows—a clandestine organization known as Fog Whisperers.
Fueled by greed and power, Fog Whisperers operated with impunity, pulling the strings behind the scenes, orchestrating crime waves and manipulating key figures within the city. They saw John as a threat, a disruptor who posed a risk to their carefully constructed empire. In a calculated move to eliminate him, they devised a sinister plan.
One fateful night, as John tirelessly pursued a high-profile case, he received an anonymous tip leading him to an abandoned warehouse on the outskirts of the city. Unbeknownst to him, the tip was a carefully orchestrated trap. As he ventured deeper into the derelict building, he found himself ambushed by a group of masked assailants, agents of the Fog.
A vicious struggle ensued, but John was outnumbered and overwhelmed. Despite his valiant efforts, he was overpowered, beaten within an inch of his life. The assailants, believing they had dealt the detective a fatal blow, left him for dead, disappearing into the night.
However, fate had other plans for John. As his lifeblood seeped from his battered body, he was enveloped by an otherworldly mist, a manifestation of the very darkness he had fought against. In his darkest hour, the fog claimed him, granting him an unexpected second chance at life—but forever tethered to the fog and its twisted realm.
Now one with the fog, John emerged as a hunted survivor, trapped within the nightmarish trials orchestrated by the Fog. His skills as a detective proved invaluable in his quest for survival, enabling him to outsmart and evade the relentless hunters that pursued him. Yet, the line between self-preservation and selflessness became blurred for John. His desire to survive often clashed with his moral compass, as he would not hesitate to use his companions as distractions, ensuring his own escape.
While seen by some as a helpful survivor, John's reputation was marred by his self-serving tendencies. With every trial, he walked a precarious tightrope, balancing survival and the instinct to alert the hunter for his own benefit. His conflicted nature, a blend of resourcefulness and self-interest, painted him as a complex figure among the survivors, one whose actions could be both admired and criticized.
As John ventured deeper into the trials, he was haunted by the shadows of his past, the echoes of the crime-ridden city he had once fought to protect. In the fog's merciless embrace, he sought redemption, an opportunity to atone for the compromises he had made. The path ahead was treacherous, but John Carlson, the detective of old, remained determined to survive, to unravel the mysteries of the fog, and perhaps, find a way to free himself from its unforgiving grasp.

It was this disdain that brought her to the fateful trip to the mountain, seeking an escape from the confines of her team and the pressure of her responsibilities. The day started with a hockey game, where Kris once again led her team to victory. But instead of relishing in the triumph, she found herself growing increasingly irritated with her teammates' shortcomings and mistakes. Seeking solace from the persistent frustration, Kris agreed to join her friends—Emma, Ethan, Anthony, Kyler, Kara, and her siblings Jamison and Kayley—for a weekend getaway in the serene mountain retreat. However, tensions began to rise as Anthony introduced a newcomer to the group—Olivia. Kris immediately resented the intrusion, perceiving Olivia as an unwelcome disruption to their tightly-knit circle. Her feelings of superiority and territoriality cast a shadow over the trip, as Kris became increasingly distant and hostile towards Olivia. As the group ventured further into the secluded mountain, their bonds began to strain under the weight of Kris's disdain. Unbeknownst to them, the dark presence of the fog had already begun to weave its way into their lives. It sensed Kris's isolation and resentment, drawing her closer to its clutches. Tragedy struck when Kris, consumed by her own emotions, failed to extend a helping hand to those in need. As they engaged in risky activities, disaster struck one by one. Kris watched in horror as Emma, Ethan, and Anthony succumbed to their fates—severing the already fragile bonds of friendship. Jamison and Kayley, her own siblings, suffered the consequences of her indifference. Overwhelmed with guilt and remorse, Kris found herself separated from the remaining survivors—Olivia and Kyler. Alone in the unforgiving mountain terrain, the fog began to envelop her, offering a haunting embrace that echoed her internal turmoil. In that moment, Kris's fate intertwined with the fog, becoming one with its ethereal realm. Now, as a Hunted survivor, Kris roams the trials, forever trapped within the fog's grasp. Her once fierce determination transformed into a relentless struggle for survival, and her perceived superiority challenged by the enigmatic horrors that lurk in the shadows. The lessons learned from her past failures now guide her, as she navigates the trials with a newfound sense of humility and empathy. Lore:
A striking figure with an air of independence and a disquieting aura, Kara possessed a longing for control and an unspoken desire for affection that ultimately drove her down a treacherous road. Intrigued by the allure of the Hackley mountain resort, Kara insisted on gathering a group of friends for an adventure. Among them were the determined Kris, the gentle Kayley, the steadfast Kyler, the empathetic Anthony, and the spirited duo of Ethan and Emma. Despite her reservations, Anthony chose to invite his friend Olivia, much to Kara's discontent. Her desire to maintain a close-knit circle was fueled by an underlying fear of losing control. Within the group, Kara clashed with Kris, a natural leader whose presence threatened Kara's own desire for dominance. She held an unspoken disdain for Kayley, who had a deep connection with Jamison, Kara's secret love interest. The weight of unrequited affection burdened her heart, and only Anthony, her confidant, shared her pain and understood her longing. As they ventured into the heart of the mountain resort, the group encountered unspeakable horrors. Emma's tragic demise shattered Kara's world, traumatizing her to the core. The harrowing scene would forever haunt her memories, igniting a primal fear and unraveling the fragile threads of her composure. In the midst of chaos, Kara's selfishness and desperation propelled her into the forest, seeking refuge from the horrors that unfolded. But fate had other plans in store. Trapped by a vicious bear trap, Kara cried out for help, her screams echoing through the night. Hours passed, each moment a torment as she wrestled with pain, fear, and regret. As the agonizing hours slipped away, Kara's desperate pleas were answered by an unexpected force. The fog, sensing her turmoil and her broken spirit, reached out to claim her as its own. It enveloped her in its ethereal embrace, forever sealing her fate within its enigmatic realm. Lost to her friends and the world she once knew, Kara became a reflection of her own inner turmoil—a haunting reminder of the consequences of selfishness and the yearning for control. In the fog's clutches, she is condemned to wander, her soul forever tormented by the choices and regrets that shaped her tragic journey.

2023.06.09 23:56 Jillmanji Help me find the cause?

Hi! It's been a little minute since I've posted here.
Since my last post, I've found a specialist, undergone a couple of tests, and have been given the formal diagnosis of "dysautonomia, overactive parasympathetic nervous system."
Right now he's prescribed DULoxetine and nortriptyline to me. The DULoxetine has been fairly helpful, nortriptyline not so much. I use liquid IV, most of my starches/sugars are homemade goods/less processed, I treat my symptoms as I can..
My BP doesn't change much when I'm sitting vs standing, but my pulse is typically low, and it gets even lower during certain activities to the point where I don't necessarily fall ovepass out but I have fallen asleep a few times.
My other symptoms are spot-on with dysautonomia, like digestive problems, coat hanger pain, fatigue, etc... but some other symptoms are off, like my muscles feeling extremely weak on one side of my body, or my grip being a bit iffy.
Caffeine seems to be more helpful than harmful, although it heavily affects my mood.
I'm not sure where else to go from here-- if I can I'd like to figure out the cause. Based on what I've written, does any of this sound familiar? Does anyone have experience with just "generally overactive parasympathetic nervous system" and/or other ideas for how to treat it?

2023.06.09 23:56 BFG-Wrestler Why is BR XP not counting towards missions?

I have had a few games in BR where I get absolutely 0 XP. Lou Brock is P1 already, but only in the 200s for BR missions. I have not used him outside of BR. After the game none of my stats count and the 4000 XP in a round remains at 0. I tried drafting completely different players and it happened again.
Does anyone know what causes this or something to do in order to make it not happen?

2023.06.09 23:55 slack3d What are the things to look for when buying a used 370z?

Hey guys,
I looked for older posts but I couldn't find anything. I am looking to buy a used 370z (circa 2009-2012) and I wanted to check with you guys what are the main things that I should be worried about or things that I should be looking to do if I buy the car.

Does this engine have reliability issues as it gets older ? (120k km+ / 75k miles+)

Thanks a lot!!

2023.06.09 23:55 TokyoTurpster New to all this but wanted to share my experience so far.

As the title says, I've recently realised that I surely have ROCD. I wanted to share my story with you to hopefully bring peace of mind to some of you because it allows you to know you're not alone, I've found it helps knowing that.
It must have started, I'd reckon, January this year. But only recently got terribly bad enough that I've recognised it. Its an awful thing and it's become so overwhelming at times that I've cried to my girlfriend about it.
I think it started with me feeling irritated by things she did, I started noticing flaws and I didnt feel as excited anymore. I realised that we had exited the "honeymoon phase" and my brain clearly struggles to comprehend that.
I've kept her in the loop and she knows what I'm going through as I don't want to lie to her and in a way, having her know what I'm going through is relieving to some degree.
She is my entire world and means more to me than anything and I love her so much but what is exhausting is that although I know I love her I still can't seem to kick those bad thoughts out my head that tell me otherwise.
I get an overwhelming sense of guilt that these thoughts pass through my head, I feel guilty that breaking up is even a thought, I feel terrible when my mind tells me I'm leading her on, using her for love and kindness even though that's not true and I feel awful when my mind tells me I dont love her when I do. It is mentally exhausting. I can't tell you how much I wish I could magic it away, make these thoughts vanish. Its even harder when I think of the future and worry that it will still be this hard even then and it makes me want to give in to the thoughts but I refuse.
I started therapy and so far have had one session and she's on the fence as to whether it's rocd but I tick all the boxes so I might have to switch therapists but I'll see how it goes for a little while. Anyway, I digress.
Its hard not to get consumed by these thoughts and it makes my heart race with anxiety which is a bad combo with my high blood pressure.
But there is one quote that I've found very helpful to calm the mind and it goes as follows "The presence of unwanted intrusive thoughts does not indicate anything about your character or sanity. In fact, the content of the thoughts are actually meaningless and irrelevant, no matter how compelling."
I've even put it on my homescreen to remind me and its surprisingly effective. I don't know if it classifies as a compulsion but all I know is that it helps.
I know making this post is likely a compulsion but at the same time I do believe it could help someone if they can relate.

Pictures
[Authentic](please note: as described below this size is a fantasy piece) Hermès Flag Birkin 35 - Handbags - The RealRealtherealreal.com
*Quality * 7.5/10. This item is a fantasy piece. It’s a limited edition run from 2015, and was available in a B35, B40 and HAC. So the quality is being judged like a normal bag. So, while the quality will be high, the accuracy will be low due to the fantasy aspect. - Materials - (-1) the leather trim is barenia…but it is coated in some protective coating…and it’s aged already. Steven used to do this too, his “honey barenia”, pre patina’d. That being said, it’s a very smooth leather, has the proper thickness. Stitching is clean. The toile portion is on par with my auth bolide. Light but robust I guess I’d call it. The chèvre interior is wrong. (-.5) Auth is lined with chèvre morocain, which has flatter grains and a subtle spine. This looks like it’s lined in a soft chèvre mangalore or jhansi. Seriously, I want a chèvre made from what they lined this bag with…it is Sumptuous! - Construction - the construction is well done, with no misalignment in marquetry, no loose threads or glue marks. No fufu either! - Hardware - Hardware is a gold, which is yellower than authentic(-.25),which is Permabrass, and shows minimal signs of perling. Like, it’s there, but it’s there. (-.25). If I’m being picky, the glazing on the handles is a bit cartoonish…evenly but thickly applied. Like my clown lips. (-0.25)
Accuracy 0/10. There’s no way to give this anything but since it’s a fantasy piece. I will break down the remainder of the points as if it were rated higher. I have SEEN, but not handled this particular auth version. -Dimensions- * Authentic B25* Length: 10in. Width: 4.75in. Height: 7.5in. Handle drop: 4in
Rep(this one) Length: 10in. Width:4.75in. Height: 7.5in. Handle drop: 3.5in. Which I would consider in tolerance for hand pieced items.
Rep Satisfaction Rating 10/10- I’m just going to say: IDGAF if this is a fantasy piece. I also wanted to try someone different for RepScience, and I am perfectly fine being the Guinea pig on some things. All rewards involve risk. Just make sure you can afford to take the risk before you risk it.
I think this is stunning, it’s different, and I’ve wanted one since 2015…just not in a shoulder destroying 35 or HAC. This 25 is so light…it’s lighter than croc, lizzy and chèvre.
Is it an instant “oooh gurl….look at her fake ass bag” moment if someone who knows sees? Yes. Do I have sufficient cojones do death stare a bitch until she swears that she must be mistaken and apologizes profusely? Yes. I do. And I ain’t scared or bothered.
Seller Satisfaction Rating 10/10. No exaggeration, buttering or blowing smoke up anyone’s ass. I have no incentive to be anything but honest. Marko was quickly responsive, took the time to answer the very few questions I had. Took the time to give me a tutorial on how to determine embossed croc/gator and real croc and gator in pictures. I’ve ordered another piece with him and am planning on a third. If someone gets repeat business from me, and even more importantly I send my friends their album….they done right by me first.
**CPR [Cost Performance Ratio] 8/10. I’m being conservative here simply because it’s a fantasy piece. Can I place this one on a par with GPC or DD? Yes, I think I can. I paid 510 bucks for a complex bag. Doing the marquetry for the leather and toile is labor intensive folks. And it’s done so damn well.
The Wrap Up 7/10. Since it’s fantasy, there’s no way I would wear it into the boutique. I think it’s well made enough that if the auth came in this size, I would wear it into H shamelessly, while causing a dimensional battle between the RepGods and the H Gods.
That’s my review, and I’ve been deliberately harder than I would be if I weren’t writing a review.

2023.06.09 23:53 minervamon_ Possible RA symptoms?

Sorry, I'm sure this community has a lot of these 'diagnose me' types of threads and I apologize about being another. I understand this is not a place to seek medical advice to a T, but I'm looking, rather, for those who may have had similar experiences to help quell what's been an issue for me for over a year and a half now. Ideally, I'd like to have a particular sense of confidence in what direction to go first when I seek medical care. I am without insurance at this time and will be until the start of the new year from my work (Just missed the cut off date with this new job). That said, I don't make a ton of money and I'd like to try my best at getting myself into a place that can help the most without hopefully paying out of pocket for a 'Nothing I see wrong here, try this'. I did go to a chiro who said everything looks good on my end after providing a small look-through of my ankles/feet and said my range of motion/stance and posture was all great. He referred me to a podiatrist and/or a blood test for possible autoimmune. I will provide a quick TL;DR here with the bullet points and then the much larger summary for those interested. All opinions and guidance are appreciated and I will not follow anything here as medical advice, but rather as opinions and suggestions for where to seek it properly.

TLDR

____

32M 6ft / 165lbs

Started with foot pain in bottom of feet. Sensitive to walking. Actual pain where rest helped. Lasted 3-4 months swapping shoes / insoles. Magically got better, no idea on what specifically helped.

Months later, foot pain eased up. legs started acting up. No pain, but discomfort. Weak leg feeling, specifically, back of leg behind the kneecap area. Again, lasted about 4-5 months, who knows?

Then it became my ankles / feet. Still the present issue now. No foot pain like last time, but there's still some sort of 'sore' there where pressure on it can hurt (like baseball rolling) but definitely an issue with ankle discomfort (not pain). Feels like I need to pop/crack the ankle and bottom of foot but can't. By far my most annoying issue thus far because it is admittedly a bit fatiguing and bothersome feeling like something there needs to crack or pop when stretched but nothing seems to.

No noticeable swelling

*Seems to always affect one side a day. Lord knows what side it will be when I wake up, but if it's my left, it's my left for that day and my right feels lovely. Next day, it can be the opposite. This pattern is 100% to my knowledge. Always i one or the other side. Never have it be both. Or at least, one side seems to be much, much more noticeable with it daily.*

Chiro Doc said everything looks fine with posture, positioning and range of motion.

I have decent flexibility (Never was great) but as much as stretching can burn, I don't feel really limited anywhere.

I can go run, workout, hike, etc. I don't feel limited in my daily activities. The issue is not exasperated by physical activity any more or worse than just laying in bed.

This 'feeling' is darn near 100% of my day, be it walking around at work or sitting on the couch, I feel the tingly/tightness/need to stretch feeling on my ankles. Sometimes walking feels better than sitting around, or maybe that's due to my mind being preoccupied.

*My mother has RA and first got that looked at/confirmed in her early 50's when it started acting up. She is now on a huge gluten free / RA regiment for years.*

*No insurance for a while. Looking to get recommendations or stories from people with similar issues and what direction they think would be best to seek medical advice from because I fear spending a lot of money going to x,y or z only to be redirected elsewhere. Podiatrist? Bloodwork for RA?

End of TLDR. Now, a lengthier summary for those interested.

So! My story! I'm a 31 year old male. I work full time as a janitor / maintenance role. I walk / stand for 80% of my job with the occasional kneeling here and there. I have been doing this type of work now for about 5 years. The whole journey begun with pain in both my feet on a random day, out of the blue. I was at work and just felt pain in the bottom of my feet, similar to having just taken a barefoot walk on rocks for hours. I'd been using some older pair of shoes that were seemingly comfortable in every way but they were probably worn out so I thought to simply purchase some new ones as maybe the insoles had grown non-existent at this point. Thinking that would solve it within a few days, nope! Or, not really. For the next 2-3 months or so I was now on a mission to find proper insoles, arch support (I have higher arches) and/or anything that could possibly relieve something like Plantar Fasciitis I thought I may have had. I don't know how/when/why but eventually I wasn't as sensitive in that area whilst walking at my job. Couldn't tell you why I finally just managed to be ok again, but yay!

In the next couple of weeks or so, I started to feel like I had weak knees. Specifically, I felt a lot of discomfort. (I need to really emphasize discomfort because I don't classify anything past the initial foot issue above as painful. This knee issue and what occurs yet to be followed are more classified as discomfort and 'tightness' to me). The specific area I was feeling the discomfort was typically behind my kneecap area, so opposite side of the leg behind the kneecap, where the knee bends. It felt..I don't know, 'weak' It didn't have a particular tightness to it, but I still tried to foam roll there and stretch well. This lasted a good 5-6 months or so with an occasional other spot on my legs that felt more present, but all associated with the same tingly/weak leg feeling. Compression sleeves / foam rolling and massage tools didn't seem to alleviate much. Stretching felt good but I couldn't tell huge differences after a few weeks.

After this 5-6 month period, it became my ankles and somewhat my feet again and that's where I am at today. Let's call it another 6 months or so of these being the issue after the legs issue subsided. Everything is now subsided to my ankles and occasionally feet. Important to note that the feet are not nearly as painful or sensitive as the first experience where I was having difficulty walking most days. What I feel now is an ankle tightness primarily. A feeling like I NEED to crack or pop my ankle for relief but I never can no matter how I stretch it. Accompanied with the ankle is the bottom of the foot again (specifically along the arch, outside of the foot and the middle of the foot areas). No pain for either, really, just a discomfort and tightness, again. The ankle feels good when I can rotate it and stretch it in a circle and I usually can make a small 'pop' that ultimately doesn't do much but it does feel good to do from time to time. I like to roll my foot on a baseball and find it helps break down something down there but I'm not sure if it's helping long term.

2023.06.09 23:53 MWBartko Just how powerful is Professor X?

Just how powerful is Professor X?
Just how powerful is Professor X and just what are his powers?
It seems from reading his earliest appearances that he was an all-round psychic able to use his mind the sense all kinds of things, communicate telepathically including guiding others in how to use their powers, and even once dropped a sentinel with a mental blast.
Then it seems like they made him a fairly weak telepath for years.
Then it's hard to tell what his powers were as Onslaught vs what he was mind controlling reality warpers to do for him.
Then he was depowered and at some point got repowered supposedly to all new heights by the M'Kraan Crystal, and at another point had the Mind Infinity Gem.
But then he died and came back in Fantomex's body and seemed to still be a telepath in that body.
Then we got the island and I haven't really read much of that. But I heard he isn't an omega level mutant but now has some TK. I know I also have big holes in my reading history.
Does anyone feel like they have a good read on just what Charles Xavier can do these days and ideally how his abilities have been depicted through the decades?

2023.06.09 23:52 jellyfish-squish Elderly cat won’t stop peeing on the floor, need opinions since vet testing seems to be a dead end :(

Hi everyone! This is my first post in the sub— it’s great to see everyone come together as a community to bond over our furry friends. I’m making this post as a last resort after spending hundreds in vet bills— looking for advice or a second veterinary opinion (please bear with me if this is a long post!)
My elderly cat, Zoe, has been peeing on the floor for about a week and a half now. The puddles are usually in the same rooms as her litterboxes, but we’ve found a couple others around the house. She’s done this before; and in the past we’d bring her to the vet, they’d diagnose her with a bladder infection and put her on antibiotics, and the peeing would stop. However, we brought her to the vet earlier this week and after multiple tests and bloodwork they said she has no UTI or infection and they aren’t sure what’s causing the peeing this time. She’s been spayed and kept indoors since we’ve had her as a kitten, and although she does have mild kidney disease due to her age (somewhere around 17-18) the bloodwork from earlier this week showed it hasn’t progressed or gotten worse since past vet visits. We haven’t made any changes to her litter situation— we have 3 boxes around the house (as per vet’s recommendation), keep them clean, and haven’t changed the brand of litter or anything like that. It’s also not that she can’t make it to the litterbox in time— I have watched her walk right past it to pee elsewhere on the rug in the same room. She still uses it to poop, but it’s been completely dry for the past week and a half.
It’s getting very stressful to accidentally step in/have to clean up pee from the floor 3+ times a day, and she’s done damage to both the hardwood flooring and the rugs that will cost a lot to repair. She also peed in a laundry basket and we had to throw out all the clothes that were inside. I understand that when testing at the vet comes out negative there’s nothing they can do or prescribe, but I am desperate for solutions! If you’ve read this far, thank you 🥹

2023.06.09 23:52 followspace How can I temporarily bypass helm and put free text

Helm is useful in most cases, but it is sometimes very annoying because it doesn't let me put what I want, maybe because it's not in the list. Sometimes helm lets me do that by choosing question mark [?], but that's not always the case.
One example I experienced today. I'm using spacemacs with helm. I did find-file to a remote directory with TRAMP. So I'm in dired. From there I put M-x shell and it asked me the remote shell path. The default shown in helm text area is "/bin/sh" which is a reasonable default. But helm does not let me press enter there. So I can't open a remote shell.
I thought there would be a way to just force put "/bin/sh", but I couldn't find any ways. C-f, C-z or whatever didn't work. I'm pretty surprised that helm does not have any unified way to fallback if there are no ways for a mature feature that existed such a long time.
BTW, for that specific issue, I solved it with this elisp code, but I'm still curious if there's a way to fallback on helm.
(defadvice shell (around disable-helm activate) "Disable helm-mode when calling `shell'." (if helm-mode (progn (helm-mode -1) ad-do-it (helm-mode 1)) ad-do-it))

2023.06.09 23:52 MissBeckyBoo Explaining Blaine [Part 1]

Alrighty. There are so many people saying they hated or didn’t understand Blaine’s character, or the ways he changed over time, the horrible cheating stuff etc. And I get it - especially the cheating, it makes me angry to think about.
So, I have begun to write a bit of a character background for him, in an attempt to try and tie everything together and reconcile it all. It’s going to be massive, and will be posted in several chunks. Here is the first snippet, I guess:

Blaine Devon Anderson was an intelligent kid. Adults listened to him talk and were amazed at his perspective on the world. On his first day of school, he asked all his classmates and his teacher if they saw red the way he saw red. His teacher taught him about colour-blindness that day, but no one actually understood what he was asking. He tried to find words to describe every colour, but realised there was no way he could explain colours without using words that already had a shared meaning in the world. And by that logic, there was no way Blaine could ever communicate his experience in life to anyone else.
How could he explain what laughter, sadness, or confusion felt like to him, without using words people already had meaning attached to? Was he just expected to trust that everyone saw the same blue sky? Trust that joy and pain feel the same to everyone? Blaine realised he would never quite know what it’s like to see through other people’s eyes, and no one would ever know what it’s like to see through his.
This realisation made five-year-old Blaine desperately lonely. And he didn’t have the words to explain why.
The one thing that helped him was music. He found he could somehow express more feelings through three piano keys pressed over and over and over again than was ever possible through words. Music was the language of his soul, and it bypassed every limitation of the tongue. Music could translate his feelings to the outside world - he just needed friends who communicated the same way.
Unfortunately, not many people in his life were tuned into the language of music the way he was. And those few that were, didn’t seem to want to get to know Blaine. He wanted so desperately to believe that someone else out there would one day be not only able to comprehend the language of his soul, but be equally willing to bare their soul the same way.

2023.06.09 23:52 MerkurSchroeder Stick in the Front - Plug in the Back

https://i.ibb.co/kcVPtnb/IMG-20230609-224632178-2.jpg
I'm not so much a show off guy for each and everything, especially as interest in my ideas often isn't that huge. However, since I found out Qanba did a maintenance hole on their new generation sticks and I was fiddling with my Hori RAP V anyway, I made a picture for you to see it's something you can have on your fightsticks, too.
All I did, really, was trace the bottom plate on some cardboard, so I could make sure to hit the right spot, cause my version is cheap and doesn't forgive as much as a 24mm hole for example. I was doing 12mm, because I had that in my set of metal drills.
So, I cut some anti-slip off and you see some scratches, but I'm planning to change the anti-slip and coat the plate against rusting sooner or later anyway. I probably could have done that less quick and dirty.
Might be obvious or not I used a center punch to place my 3mm pilot hole and then drilled 12mm using cutting paste. Make sure your machine has enough force for this operation. I did this once on sheet metal with a weak hand tool and I got stuck all the time. I also used a hand countersink to deburr the Drillhole.

Action for the body plug to close the maintenance hole. I've found a set of these plugs for cheap on ebay. They're meant for car bodies, but it totally works with the material's thickness. Even though not mandatory, I cut the inner part a little to allow for more clearance.
And that's about it. This little mod allows me to change back and forth between ball, bat and bullet top as much as I like - and we all want to be gentle with our Hori screws, don't we? 🤓
Have you done something like this as well, or will you? Let me know. I'd like to see what solutions you've come up with. Cheers!

2023.06.09 23:51 soybeansforbrains AITA for asking my mom to call me a different name while in my workplace?

I (22 NB AFAB) currently live in a different country than my place of birth for university. My mom (58F) and younger sister (16F) have just traveled 5,000 miles across the world to come visit me, and we’re currently in the middle of a disagreement.
After moving countries, I started going by the name “Anakin”, instead of “Anna Marie (AM)” (obviously fake names but you’ll understand in a moment - basically the point im trying to make here is that both names start with the same letter and are some what similar just not the exact same). I’ve asked my mom if she could start calling me by that name as well but she refuses to, her reasoning being that “‘AM’ a special nickname that’s meant to honor the women in our family and our heritage and she can’t ever imagine me going by a different name.”
Okay, cool. Unfortunately, I have a lot of trauma associated with my birth name, and a lot of dysphoria. and while I have explained that to my mom she does not understand it, and also just kind of pretends like it’s not real, or like I am just faking the experience. So I have accepted the fact that she will never call me my preferred name. While here in this country, I’ve not asked her once to call me “Anakin”, not even in front of my partner, who has only ever known me by that name. She wanted to have dinner at the place where my partner and I both work together, and while I am more than okay with serving her, I asked that she please only refer to me as “Anakin” while she is dining in the restaurant. Partly because I feel as though I have a certain image of myself that I want to maintain, I don’t associate myself with the name “Anna Marie” any more, but also because I don’t want my coworkers to know my other name and then think that’s an excuse for them to call me that.
My mother is incredibly offended that I’ve asked her to call me that name for two-three hours out of the 30 days that she will be here. She’s told me that by going by “Anakin” is a means to distance myself from her, and that asking her to call me “Anakin” at the restaurant is like asking me to call her “Queen Latifah”. She thinks that I’m being paranoid because I don’t want my coworkers to hear that name and then think it’s an excuse for them to use it, but I’ve had that exact thing happen to me on multiple occasions. I’m honestly trying to see it from her perspective, but I seriously don’t understand why it is so difficult for her to refer to me as a different name for 2 hours. Even my sister is on my side in this. I just can’t tell if I am really being TA here or if I’ve been so manipulated and gaslit by her to feel this guilty for asking for this bit of respect.

2023.06.09 23:50 WorriedPangolin4171 How to deal with rude coworker?

Hi all,
I'm not sure if this is the appropriate place. Anyways, we're a small team and therefore have overlapping files. I joined this team recently and it's been a couple of months. When I joined, my manager immediately warned me about Coworker A and how you need to have a specific communication style with them and that they generally talk a lot (which impacts our meetings with time constraints as we always go over). My manager also has difficulties managing A generally.
Weeks pass, and A and I are working together on something. A does a lot of really rude things while we are working on something, such as:
I spoke with my manager about A's recent behaviour and they are shocked. They mentioned that A has never had problems like this before and no one has said anything. They said that A is having a stressful time in their life. I held firm and said that I will continue to document these behaviours because I do not tolerate rudeness. It really has been hurting my confidence in my work. A has a permanent position and has been in the unit for a very long time, so obviously there is someone being favoured. We're both the same level/title. I'm not sure what to do y'all.

2023.06.09 23:50 SatansAdvokat About the Ogryn Power Maul Light swing 3 & 4 attack damage... Actually, about Ogryn melee damage in general.

About the Ogryn Power Maul Light swing 3 & 4 attack damage... Actually, about Ogryn melee damage in general.

Compare the Ogryn vs the kinda tall Normal human furthest to the right.

Achlys Mk I Power Maul. Only +25% dmg vs Flack & Unarmoured.
The only Blessing the Power Maul has that increases damage is Skullcrusher. A lvl 4 Skullcrusher blessing gives +20% dmg.
Standard-issue Munitorum Sapper Shovel. Only +25% dmg vs Flack & Unarmoured.
Sapper Shovel has several blessings that increases damage, see where this is going?
Not only does it also have Skullcrusher, but then it also has:
  1. Decimator
    1. "Continuously chaining more than 2 attacks gives +4-10% Power. Stacks 5 times."
  2. All or Nothing
    1. "Power is increased by 7.5-20% at empty stamina, scaling down linearly to full stamina."
  3. Thrust
    1. "Up to +5-20% Power, scaling with Charge Time (Heavy Attack. Stacks 3 times.")
  4. Limbsplitter
    1. "The first attack in a chain has 10-25% increased power. Chained attacks has 10% reduced power."
  5. Take a Swing

  6. And lastly, Uncanny Strike
    1. "+5-20% Rending on enemy weak spot hit for 2.5 seconds. Stacks 5 times."
But lets not stop there!

Crucis Mk II Thunder Hammer. Only +25% dmg vs Flack & Unarmoured.
Blessings that provides dmg...
  1. Head Taker
    1. +2-5% Power for 3.5s on Hit. Stacks 5 times.
  2. Skullcrusher (ofc... why wouldn't it have that?)
  3. Slaughterer
    1. +7.5-15% Power for 3.5 seconds on kill. Stacks 5 times.
      1. Meta, THE blessing, the bomb, the "omg i want this blessing"
  4. Thunderous
    1. Target receives 1-4 Stacks of 5% Brittleness on Hit. Lasts 5s.

Mk IIIb Bully Club. Only +25% dmg vs Flack & Unarmoured.
Blessings that provides damage...
  1. Skullcrusher
  2. Thurst
  3. Thunderous
    1. Target receives 1-4 Stacks of 5% Brittleness on Hit. Lasts 5s.
      1. Completely useless against Maniac, Unyielding, Infested and Unarmoured
  4. Haymaker
    1. +1-4% to Instakill human-sized enemies on Chained Heavy Hit. Stacks 5 Times.
      1. Extremely good on paper, isn't as good in reality.
  5. Slaughterer
    1. Lol just kidding, why would it have that?
I shouldn't have to tell anyone this, but this... This is not acceptable...
Do we play as an Ogryn who pulled the genetical short Straw?
What ever happened to what wh40k.lexicanum.com say about the Ogryn?
Ogryns are simple beings – abhumans adapted for brute strength and resilience on high-gravity worlds. [...] Ogryns are the largest and most physically powerful type of abhuman. They make ideal warriors and are often recruited into Imperial Guard regiments, and used as close assault shock troops.
Or how Games Workshop describe them:
Heavily-muscled abhuman Elites for your Astra Militarum army [...] Ogryns are simple beings – abhumans adapted for brute strength and resilience on high-gravity worlds. In battle, their instincts rarely lead them beyond hitting the enemy as hard as possible. These qualities see them fielded as formidable shock troops whose hulking physiques allow them to shrug off and inflict tremendous damage, armed with rapid-firing ripper guns that are built to withstand use as improvised clubs.
Or how Warhammer40k.fandom describes them:
Ogryns possess many traits prized by the Imperium; they are brutally strong and completely loyal [...] Ogryns compensate for their mental deficiencies with overwhelming physicality -- the brutish creatures stand around 10 Terran feet (3 metres) tall and can shrug off wounds that would kill an Imperial Guardsman several times over. These qualities mean that Ogryns make exceptional shock troops, and are often deployed on the front lines of battle by Imperial commanders.
Keywords and phrases about power of the Ogryns from these sources.
  1. "brute strength" - Games Workshop
  2. "most powerful abhuman" - Games Workshop
  3. "hulking physiques" - Games Workshop
  4. "brutally strong" - Warhammer40k.fandom
  5. "overwhelming physicality" - Warhammer40k.fandom
  6. "well-muscled" - wh40k.lexicanum.com
  7. "Heavily-muscled abhuman Elites" - Games Workshop
  8. "brutish creatures stand around 10 Terran feet (3 metres)" - Warhammer40k.fandom
  9. "tremendous damage" - Games Workshop

And regarding the "toughness" of the Ogryns:
  1. "shurg off wounds that would kill a Guardsman several times over" - Warhammer40k.fandom
  2. "resilience" - Games Workshop
  3. "Ogryns make exceptional shock troops" - Warhammer40k.fandom
  4. "formidable shock troops" - Games Workshop
  5. "close assault shock troops" - wh40k.lexicanum.com
  6. "shrug off and inflict tremendous damage" - Games Workshop

Also funny thing is that Games Workshop mentions "ripper guns that are built to withstand use as improvised clubs"...
No, aparently not? Ogryn be like *uses Ripper Gun bayonet correctly* and Veteran be like *Uses Mk III Helbore Lasgun bayonet as a halberd*.
Why can we Ogryns be OGRYNS?!
It feels like i'm a Silverback Gourilla playing with a kitten and trying my best not to hurt it. Like, my character is activly holding back?
Holy Jesus Mother Mary on the "i'm not even a believer but i can't express my words better than this because my vocabulary is too shallow" and what the actual fuck is this about?
Humans, normal, bloody humans, are "out-meleeing" a damn MOUNTAIN OF MUSCLE who are told to be "most powerful", "hulking physiques", "exceptional shock troops" and this 3 meter tall ultra strong abhuman can't even kill a damn Covid-40.000 infested Leper-brownie with a hoodie in one blow?! And some "normal-isch" Imperial Guardsman Guy with a Shovel even hits HARDER than the Ogryn?!
Jeez...
Okay my rant is over now, hope i got the point out. Cya.
