I don't usually make posts on reddit, in fact this is my first time ever making an account. However, I feel like this is something that doesn't happen very often and just want to get it off my chest. TLDR: I tried hiring a photographer but she was not timely in responses and tried to tack on a hidden travel fee.
Background summary:
I reached out a month ago, had issues with her not responding in a timely manner and had to send two emails to get her attention twice. Nowhere in that time did she say she was adding on an extra amount.
STORY:
She finally sends the booking link and I click on it expecting just a contract. First, her site makes you go through a bunch of questions and answer them BEFORE you see the contract. THEN it makes you read through and SIGN the contract BEFORE you see the invoice (though I think this may have been a technical issue, it becomes important.) I, stupidly, assumed that since we had only discussed the pricing for the shoot that i would be charged the flat fee for her 30 minute shoot, which was 150. I get to the invoice and realize that I would not, in fact, just be charged the flat fee for the shoot. She had, undisclosed to me, added on an additional 100$ for a travel fee. To be completely clear, we never once discussed a travel fee and I had even said in one of my answers to the first set of questions that we would drive to her (though I did not know where she was.)
I email her addressing this concern, that we had not been notified of the travel fee and that it caused some confusion. I will copy and paste my email here:
"Hi (photographer), After some lengthy discussion with my Fiance and parents, I just thought I might shoot you another email to address a concern we have. We are a little confused as to why we had not heard of the $100 added to the bill for a travel fee until after signing the contract. I understand that things happen and we are all human here, but I feel like we have been having some communication issues during this whole process and this feels like something that definitely should have been disclosed. I try to be very graceful when it comes to these things because life happens and we understand that you also have a life outside of work, so I'm sure you understand why this would be a bit confusing and concerning from a client perspective.

"As stated on my website, non-local travel is an additional charge. I charge a travel fee for anything over 45 minutes of travel time. The address you provided me was a (my town) address which is 3 hours away from me. In order for you to not have to travel as far or pay an even higher travel fee I suggested (photography location) because it is not only beautiful, but in between you and I. However, (photography location) is over 45 minutes away from me so that is why there is a $100 travel fee. If you would like to choose a different location closer to me so you will not have to pay travel, I understand.
I’m sorry that this upset you, that was not my intention. I disclose this information on my website for the purposes of being upfront with my clients, as well as providing a detailed invoice in the booking link. Let me know how you would like to proceed.

I was a bit confused at first since I had not seen this explanation on her website, so I double checked and all her website says is "I may add a travel fee for non local locations. *Price Varies*" WHICH is MORE THAN FAIR! I DO NOT have any issue with photographers charging a travel fee! At all! My issue was that it was tacked on without us being told that it would be. SO I respond with this:
"Thank you for your quick response. I do understand adding a travel fee for traveling distance, and I did see that your website says that you may add one. However, I was under the impression that we would not be charged one because it was never discussed. That really is my biggest concern because it feels like an area that we would have covered before the contract was sent out. If this was something missed or overlooked because of the length of our booking process, I completely understand! However, we feel as though there has been an ongoing issue with communication and are not comfortable with booking our wedding with you, so we would like to cancel the shoot. We really do think you have some fantastic work and wish you nothing but the best as you further your career."
Thinking she would just cancel the shoot no problemo and we could be done with this back and forth. But then I get this:
"I’m sorry to hear that you feel there has been an ongoing communication problem, I wasn’t aware of this and am unsure of what you mean. In my contract listed under “1. Scope of work" it clearly states to refer to the invoice.
(1. Scope of Work: PHOTOGRAPHER and CLIENT are to arrive for the PHOTOSHOOT at the agreed time and location which will be confirmed 7 days prior to the photoshoot. Refer to the invoice for details regarding products, inclusions, and fees. )
The purpose of including information about fees in my website, contract, and invoice is to be upfront and honest. This is why in my contract it says to refer to the invoice. I’m sorry you feel that there was a lack of communication between our multiple emails back and forth, that was never my intention. This is why I believe that the issue with me not being able to get to the invoice until after the contract was signed was a technical issue, and I will not hold that over her. Also, she is correct about this being the first time of me bringing up the communication problem (though I think it was pretty obvious) so I will give her that. HOWEVER, my issue was never with the travel fee, only that she never told us or tried to discuss options so that we could work around it.
I was willing to leave it as is and just let it be a case of her being disappointed that we decided to back out, however, when I was trying to show my Dad her account (because he's paying for our photography) I could NOT pull up her facebook profile. Thinking my phone was bugging, I did it on his phone. Well, as it turns out, she blocked me on her business profile. I have never had this happen before. My dad mentioned she may be trying to avoid a negative review (which I would not have left because I do understand that people have off days and weeks). What get's me is that we had never communicated over facebook, and I had not given her my facebook profile information. Which means, this photographer decided to look me up, just to block me.
Definitely a learning lesson for me, that just because someone has good work displayed and for good prices doesn't mean they are a good person. I really am disappointed that it didn't work out, but ultimately we think we dodged a bullet. I would love to hear everyone's thoughts on this, even if you believe I am in the wrong (I definitely think I could have handled the situation better).

I feel like I am the only teacher that loves her students. And no they are not all perfect, but I am desperately trying to find someone to connect with over the heart break I am going through with having to say goodbye to my students this year.
Due to re-zoning, our school is losing a huge chunk of its population, so I have been put on the excess list and am now having to change schools. I have been heart broken over it because I will be leaving my 6th graders without have the chance to see them in the halls next year when they go to 7th. I still have 7th graders visiting my classroom after school because I taught them in 6th.
I wanted to have that same relationship with these students and it is killing me that I won't see them again. Am I like some rare teacher, and its actually not normal to have this strong of a relationship with your kids? Why do I feel like I am the only one having a hard time with this? I have a 78010a (same case as the 960 neptune) with the 2416 movement. I want to install Vostok Watch Stainless steel caseback for Vostok Amphibian cases with 2409/2414/2403 manual winding movements. this caseback to make the watch sit slimmer on my wrist, but Meranom says it's compatible with the 2409, 2414 and 2403 movements. If I remove the automatic rotor, do you know if it'll fit on this case? I don't want to pay the seller, wait months for delivery, and then find out the movement is too thick for the slim caseback.
I don't mind the watch becoming manual wind, as far as I understand it won't affect anything else other than it being automatically wound (the amphibia auto rotor isn't very good anyways). I don't think this will ruin water resistance either (I don't plan on diving either so the high pressure resistance doesn't matter to me, as long as its sealed I'm good).

Ive started to worry that my writing is only good when I'm experiencing extreme forms of emotions, i.e. love, heartbreak, lonliness, infatuation, etc...
I have been using writing prompts to break out of my comfort zone and expand my writing process and parameters but I don't find that it's helping enough. I'm trying to read more books as well to expand my vocabulary and get ideas on other writing styles. However, nothing seems to be working. I'm trying to be patient as I know change takes time... But I've realized this has been an ongoing trend with me for over 14 years.

Looking to experience a crisp video viewing experience with the HP Reverb G2 just to see how it feels. I have a fairly decent gaming PC with an i7 intel cpu, Nvidia 1080Ti graphics card and 16GB RAM.
I don’t really care what video I’m viewing at this stage, just want to play something that looks crisp. I’ve got Skybox VR player and ideally would like to know where I can download a high resolution 3D video (ideally 180 but if not any SBS/180/360 video) that looks crisp while playing.
I downloaded some 1080p SBS videos and played them in skybox but the resolution is not crisp at all. Feels like I’m watching 480p. I tried playing back 3D 4k videos on YouTube but they are jerky and just don’t look crisp. For a smooth playback I tried to download it from one of these sites that let you download YouTube videos but vlc doesn’t play back the downloaded video.
So I can’t seem to easily find 8K or higher 180 3D videos that I can download in a format that works on my PC except YouTube.
Any links to 8k 180 3D video files I can download/purchase for playback on my skybox player? Do I need to try 12k and will it make a difference compared to 8K?
Don’t mind spending a little to purchase another app or high quality video if needed.

well the title is a lie. i know something is probably wrong with me. i do a lot of things that i think other people think is weird and abnormal and i think weird things too. i don't know why and i just want to be normal. why can't i be fucking normal??!? i know that my thinking pattern isn't normal and that i should change it, but when it happens i cant stop myself from believing it. when i'm with people, i feel fine and i like their company. when i'm alone at home or something i feel like everyone in my life hates me and just tolerates me when i'm around so to not hurt my feelings. in a logical sense, i know this probably isn't true because 1. if they did hate me they would avoid me and 2. they don't really display any outward reasons to hate me. even though i know this, i still feel like they fucking hate me?!??? i genuinely cannot tell if they want to be around me or not. what the hell is wrong with me?????? i avoid talking about these thoughts or really any of my feelings to anyone, so as to not burden them; but then these thoughts and feelings just fester up inside me and multiply day by day until they come out in one way or another. i know i should see a therapist or something but isn't that expensive?? does insurance even cover therapy?? i don't know, but i'll find out one of these days.
honestly, i'm scared of my thoughts sometimes. one time, one of my friends was talking about what we would do after highschool and they said that it's crazy how we won't be friends after we graduate. all i could think about was saying "if you say that again i'm going to [get really upset]." (didn't actually think that but i'm censoring myself) i didn't say it but it's all i could think about. then after that, i started thinking about the situation more and more. why would they say that? do they not want to be my friend? do they want me out of their life? it even appeared in my dreams, where they would tell me how much they hate me and want me out of their life. they would always mention their other friend and how much more they like them over me. that's another habit i hate.
i've come to the realization that i obsess over people to an unhealthy extent. at least i think it's unhealthy. it's not even a 'romantic' obsession or whatever the fuck. i just want to know everything about them and be their number one person or best friend and talk to them all the time and i think about them constantly. i want to be the only person they think about and the person they turn to when they feel down. i hate that they enjoy other peoples company more than they enjoy mine. i hate that i'm not as important to them as they are to me. i get jealous when they talk to other people more than they talk to me, and i fucking hate that i get like that. stop fucking doing that. that's not normal. i fucking hate everything about myself, especially my fucked up head. i just wish i could separate myself from my thoughts.

I am in my early 20s, so is my friend. Both dudes.
Basically my friend straight up ghosted me and I accepted it, just can’t get over it, although it only been under a month.
There was no real indication for it happening yet part of me always knew something like it will happen due to the fact that the way we both lived wasn't sustainable. We both were more or less depressed, we had terrible jobs and eventually were both jobless. We both didn’t have the best upbringing so we bonded over that immediately. We spent every night gaming and smoking till the sun came up, and admittedly we both hated how it made us feel the morning after (more like the afternoon after cuz we wouldn’t wake up before 2pm).
We always talked about getting our shit together and fixing our lives, but it was always this thing that will happen “one day”.
Eventually we started getting more serious, for me it was my financial situation as I blew all my money away and asking for more money from people became too embarrassing, and reached a point where I was wondering if I had enough money to eat (in short, I was a loser). I went out and worked at it and actually got me a decent job, nothing too crazy but well over minimum wage which is good for someone with just a high school education. I stopped messing with drinks or the devil's lettuce and been sober since, and I am sleeping better as I stopped staying up most nights cuz obviously I have a job now and that didn’t help our relationship. At that time my friend started texting me less and less and told me life has been getting worse for him.
He told me that he needs a change and I agreed and offered to help him (even tried to get him on the same job) but out of nowhere, no texts, no calls, hasn’t been online in any game we play since then, nothing. He became a ghost.
Our habits were unhealthy, and we enabled each other, but I know we could’ve gotten better together and helped each other as I was starting to do so and was offering help.
I don't even know how he is doing, but he is a strong fella so I'm not worried something bad happened to him.

I’ve always find that phenomenon interesting. My assumption is that when a woman sees a man with a kid he looks stable and mature which is attractive to them, however the same does not work for men. So what are your thoughts? Ladies especially?

I’m cautious and a little confused about P5X in general but more Lyn is always good. I currently want to shoot these songs up directly into my veins, but now I’m quickly encountering the problem that I can’t sing along because I have no idea what most of the words are. (I am used to having to look up the lyrics for Persona songs, but this time some of it may also be due to unfinished audio mixing.)
There’s a few lines that are very clear, and a few others where I think I have some idea what they might be getting at, but some I just can’t tell. And it seems like this is all so new that nobody else on the Internet has any idea either, so I figured I’d see if anyone else has some ideas, or at least wants to join me in obsessively listening to the videos trying to figure out what that one line is.
We already have some official lyrics for Last Strike (which is the only one I’m NOT listening to on repeat, rip—it’s just not as punchy), but nothing for the other two. Here are the really scattered parts I’ve been able to make out and I’m sorry in advance if some of this is really confusing to read:
Wake Up Your Hero

• First verse goes something like “Run along the rolling way / Before the eyes fade into gray / Determination seems to flame / Loading up the gun to take it over again.”
• The bridge to the chorus has ”You’ve got me closer“ (if I’m hearing that right?) and “Bright as a wonder” which of course refer to the codenames of the characters. Besides that it’s a lot less clear. One of the lines sounds like it might be “Remember dread of hopeless place”—not totally certain about that, but it would make the most sense. It ends with “Give back the cost you want and need to pay“ (could be “won’t“? but I think “want” matches “need” better).
• I’ve really only got bits and pieces of the refrain. All I can figure out is “Waking up [???] hero… / … it’s time to find your show / … into shadow / Give it up … [I cannot understand any of this part except it includes the word “back” multiple times] / Sending off the fake and hiding [evil? ego?] / Never … / … with my tempo [I think tempo, not temper, because of the next word] / Dancing to … / The desire light up, setting fire …??? [We know “desires” are a big part of the theme of this game so that mention makes sense.]
• Second verse (shorter): “Determination, burst of flame / Turn the path from now to begin brand new day.”
• Second bridge sounds mostly the same as the first but ends “Give back the words you want and need to say.”
• Second refrain sounds some of the words are changed from the first (but not all of them). I can make out “time to fight” and then the second line might be “Through a piercing mask of shadow.” Then it’s “raising up” (or “raise it up”) and after that I lose the thread again. Second half sounds kind of the same as the first refrain‘s but it changes at the end. Something about “writing a story.”

• Here’s what I got for the first verse: “… Pick up the troubles … No time to … Cause no one’s brought such … before / But the game’s not over”
• The chorus, which is a really great catchy hook, starts ”Night falls and knock, knock / Here comes the judgment / Fix what you messed up / Take back the…” and then I can’t catch any more of it with any confidence.
• Second verse is also tricky but the first thing I can get clearly is that something “is now a fig leaf you wear.” Then it’s “Hey, give up the … to your high lord / Desire wonders … Hurry to surrender.”
• Second refrain is just like the first. Can’t really hear what the spoken part afterwards is saying (audio mixing!) but the sung part over it goes “We’re breaking the loop and revealing all your lies.” Then that sort of repeats but with “take your life” at the end? Not sure entirely where that’s going.

I'm having a great time running my first SWN game, but as the storyline has begun to solidify, I find myself needing a bit more depth to flush out our sandboxy game. The starting pregen adventure hooks are great, but as I am very short on available prep time, I can't elaborate on them as much as I'd prefer.
In the past, I've found plugging in modules or pieces of setting has reduced my prep time considerably. What are everyone's recommended modules/settings for a SWN game? Can be from Kevin Crawford's games or an unrelated system. I'm fine with hacking and reskinning if I need to, just helps to have a basic template.
We're running our game as very gonzo and pulpy, so I'm open to non-traditional suggestions. For a reference point, we're even considering unusual fantasy settings like Yoon Suin and Gardens of Ynn, for wackier planet with space magic.
