2023.04.01 12:40 Impressive-Employ233 How do you take care of your mental health after picking?

TW: Mental Illness
Background: I had a bad relapse yesterday. I don't know if relapse is the correct word but that is what it feels like. I noticed my mental health really going down the drain (I suffer from depression and GAD) after a picking session because I know I have then landed myself a few days of isolation because I do not want to go outside or socialize because it makes me very self-conscious. I had plans with friends yesterday and was really looking forward to it but then my brain decided to destroy my face to the point I couldn't even cover it up.. I decided to be honest with them and tell them what is going on and that I couldn't join them because I felt mentally unstable and needed time alone. I do a little bit of commercial modeling and tomorrow there would be a little project with a fashion start up and I would've loved to be part of it but I just don't think I have the confidence to perform well so I'm thinking already about what to say so I can cancel it.
I fall into a very bad depression after picking and I wonder if it is ever going to end. I'm so sick and tired of this habit making my life miserable. I have cancelled plans so very often in the past because of it. I know, people will say just ignore it, friends will like you for who you are and I know they do BUT it doesn't help me with not getting in my head and being self-conscious all the time. I cannot enjoy my time with friends or family or pursue my dreams.
My question is how do you take care of your mental health after a picking session? What helps you the days after? How do you deal with socializing?
I go to therapy but in my country there are not really any therapists specialised in skinpicking or at least I haven't found one. I guess I just wanted to share my feelings here. Wish you all the best and hopefully we can all get through this! :)

Like my car vibrates after 120km/hr. That really shouldn’t be happening. Let alone from a hit Catalytic converter.

2023.04.01 12:40 Shoddy_Entry Advice on my (27F) horrible roommate (53F?)

So I (27F) live in an apartment complex with another roomate, who’s 53F. She has a little dog. We’ve had various issues in the past but basically I feel like I’m always walking on eggshells in my apartment when she’s here (and she’s ALWAYS there she literally never leaves). It feels like I can never do anything right. In the latest incident I had run out to my car (we have a latch gate leading up to our apartment door). I guess I had left it open by mistake. She knocks on my door and asks me why the gate is open. I apologize and tell her it wasn’t intentional and rolls her eyes and angrily huffs, “Just close it!” She has her dog after all. A couple weeks later she texts me saying “Why the fuck is the gate wide open?????” I’m like what are you taking about I know for a fact I closed it. And then I realized I ordered Door Dash and the guy left the stupid gate open. I didn’t even think to check as it was late and dark ect. which obviously again was a mistake. I told her I sincerely apologize. It was genuinely an honest mistake. She went on about her dog and her fish outside and also the fact it’s a security issue. She was like “You get ONE more time.” Meaning if this happens again she’ll kick me out I guess? But the thing is she also rents. She’s been living there for 15 years and reached out to me to rent the extra room. The actual landlord herself is super nice. Does my roommate technically have the right to kick me out??
TL;DR

2023.04.01 12:40 vaveacav About to finish a mostly useless degree that I abhor. I have no idea which way to go next. Advice would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know if this is the best place for this, but given that the end-goal is to have a satisfying career, I figured I might try this sub as well. I apologize if this is not the right place.
In a few months I will likely finish my degree in psychology (equivalent of bachelor level). I chose this degree because of the pressure around me even though I was undecided. In my country at least there is massive pressure to go to university right after high school so I picked the only thing that I found remotely interesting in the little thinking time that I had. To put it in short, I have come to despise most if not almost the whole realm of psychology and to top it all off, this degree is becoming more and more useless as the days pass due to it becoming extremely ultra-saturated.
I have no attraction/desire for most jobs in this field and to be frank, I'd have to go maybe even up to a doctorate level to even consider working in this field (otherwise there are little to no jobs for a bachelor level in this field). Still, I am 22 and have no idea what path to go on, and with university coming to an end one way or the other, I have to make a decision and I am at a complete loss.
A part of me tells me to get another degree in something more "useful", even though I have no idea what other degree I could choose that would give me a slightly better outlook without being something I'm completely underqualified for. While on paper I could probably apply (and successfully be accepted) for pretty much most degrees given the very good results I had at the end of high school (very relevant for uni admission in my country), most of what one would classify as STEM degrees scare me. I was decent in math, but not excellent by any means. As for other related subjects like physics/chemistry/biology, I was extremely bad to put it lightly.
I guess I could say some of my strengths are foreign languages (I speak 2 of them fluently) and humanities in general, but to put it frankly most humanities related "strengths" don't make one very employable in most cases. The education system in my country still very much resembles the one that existed in communism, which is "Do as you are told, don't ask any questions. If you make a mistake, you're a failure" and this didn't help me explore too much when I was younger. This is why I have no idea what I would actually like to do. I'm not really the adept of "follow your true passion" cliche when it comes to choosing a career, but at the very least I'd like to be able to know what I would be decently good at and not live my whole life hating my job. I've already spent almost 4 years doing a degree that I abhor in a corrupt university (long live Eastern Europe...) that I got a good taste of doing something you are not meant for repetitively.
At the same time I could drop the idea of going into yet another education stint, but I would probably be just as lost if I were to jump into the job market. Even so, the vast majority of options I'd have would be jobs that require little to no qualification with little to no chances of advancing over the course of time.
Before I make this too long, I'm going to mention I do have a bit of work experience in a different field (that requires my foreign language skills) and I did like working in that field. However, the kind of job I am talking about is intermittent and seasonal and I would not be able to rely on it for stability. It's a good side gig/plan B to keep the waters calm for a few months if things go wrong, but it cannot become a full-time gig in the forseeable future (due to factors completely out of my power).
If you actually went through my entire wall of text, I thank you. Any advice or idea would be immensely appreciated. Even random ideas of career options are encouraged. I figure that if I hear about options I have never considered, I might look into them and something might click.

2023.04.01 12:39 LuxiconBE a few questions from an expat

Hi there! I moved yesterday to Ann Arbor from Europe to work at the University of Michigan. A few questions which I want to pose to locals now that I have arrived are: (1) I'm looking to buy a second hand use car in place of my rental. Do you know decent dealers nearby? I have been using carvana and cargurus as apps to find good deals too. (2) Everyone drives SUV cars. I know this is the typical American experience, but given the state of the roads here, I doubt one would want anything other than a SUV. Right? (3) Mobile phone data subscription plans, which one do you advice me to use? I've heard mint mobile offers good deals, but I struggled to find a SIM card in any of the supermarkets down town.

2023.04.01 12:39 THE-2017 Which weapon has the easiest meta rotation?

I started running mods so I could see health and dps and I'm learning that my damage output is hot garbage.
Been a GS main for a long while, but I'm super not having a good time with the strong-arm stance multi-player experience. I really enjoyed the frostcraft / crit draw style from IB. I just want to bash heads.
What weapon has the most basic meta rotation? I've been debating on switching weapons for awhile. Considering SA, Hammer, or DB. Also may just give up and run LBG.
Thoughts?

2023.04.01 12:39 TimriCosmatics WHAT TO LOOK FOR WHILE CHOOSING AN UNDER EYE CREAM?

WHAT TO LOOK FOR WHILE CHOOSING AN UNDER EYE CREAM?
Do you feel a pang of sadness when someone remarks, "OMG, what happened to you? You look so scary?" upon seeing your baggy eyes? We recognize that this can make you feel as though puffy eyes and dark circles are a universal problem that you cannot avoid.

Beauties! Don’t worry. Whatever your eye woes are - under eye wrinkles, puffiness, dark circles, or crow’s feet, we’ve got you covered! But before heading there, let’s get some things out of the way.

The very first question: Do you really need eye cream? Yes, you do. It's not uncommon to wonder whether you really need eye cream as part of your skincare routine. However, it's important to recognize that the skin around your eyes is delicate and requires special care. Using an under-eye cream is not an extra step, but rather a basic necessity to properly care for this area..

If you're curious about the benefits of incorporating an under-eye cream into your skincare routine, keep reading.

What Are The Benefits Of Using An Under Eye Cream?

Using an under-eye cream can provide many benefits to the delicate skin around your eyes. Let's see how.

Targets the Early Signs of Aging
The skin around your eyes needs extra care and attention, especially as it is prone to premature aging caused by dehydration and environmental stressors. By using an under eye cream on a regular basis, fine lines and wrinkles can be kept under control.

Delivers Tailor- Made Hydration
Hydration is the "main hero" in any skincare routine, and the delicate area around the eyes is no exception. Under eye creams deliver tailor-made hydration to soothe and nourish this area.

Prepares Your Skin for Makeup
Under eye creams can also prepare your skin for makeup. They help to lessen the appearance of dark circles and puffiness, as well as smooth the area where the crow’s feet are visible. By doing so, they help in applying concealer more evenly and prevent it from building up in expression lines over the course of the day.

Soothes Tired Eyes
Many creams contain calming and nourishing ingredients and can be creamy and non-greasy with a subtle coolness in temperature.

These were the very common benefits of using eye creams. Now, the question is how to choose the best eye cream suitable for your skin. Well, don't worry. We have got you covered on that front as well. So let’s move forward and shed some light on that.

How Can You Choose The Best Eye Cream?

If you are worried about the visible signs of aging around your eyes, regardless of your age (whether you're in your 20s, 30s, or 40s), this is a signal that you should begin using an eye cream.

But, the truth to be told is that all eye creams are not created equally, so you have to consider many factors while choosing the right eye cream. So, please let us help you with that and choose your cream wisely.

Things To Keep In Mind While Choosing An Eye Cream

Does It Reduce Puffiness?

An eye cream with active natural ingredients like cucumber and orange extract can help reduce puffiness around the eyes. In addition, as they are natural ingredients, they have a soothing effect on the skin and do not irritate it, giving you a refreshed look.

Will My Eyes Get Protection From UV Rays?
While choosing an eye cream, you can look for a formula that is infused with SPF. The presence of SPF in an eye cream prevents the formation of free radicals caused by UV exposure.

Look For That Moisturizing Factor
Look for an eye cream that contains moisturizing agents such as coconut and rosemary oil that can give your skin an adequate amount of hydration and reduce the feeling of irritation caused by dryness.

Timri’s eye cream is the best solution for that perfect morning moisturizer because of its lightweight solution and moisturizing blend that will smoothen the appearance of your skin.

Go For Ingredients That Diminish The Look Of Aging
Another important point to keep in mind while buying an eye cream is the ingredients that tackle the visibility of aging. Eye creams infused with natural ingredients like cucumber, rosemary and orange extracts can work wonders in reducing the look of fine lines and improving skin elasticity.

Will It Suit My Skin?
Eye creams can be formulated for dry, normal, sensitive or combination skin types. While purchasing an eye cream, look for the best suitable ingredients for your skin.

Timri’s under-eye cream can be the best solution here as it is infused with natural ingredients suitable for all skin types.

Go For Cruelty Free Products
To ensure that the products you use align with your values and beliefs, you can always check the ingredients listed on the product packaging. For those who prioritize cruelty-free and animal-friendly products, we are happy to share that Timri's under-eye cream meets these criteria.

Look For The Ingredients
Our grandmothers have always believed in the power of kitchen ingredients, whether it comes to maintaining your health or skincare. These ingredients have always shown their magic. So, when choosing an eye cream, choose one that contains natural ingredients rather than chemicals, as the chemicals used in such creams can have harmful effects in the long run.

These are some of the factors you should consider while deciding on an eye cream you want to use.

We have always focused on the benefits and factors of under-eye cream. But, the correct application of the cream also plays a vital role in getting the desired results you want.

How to Apply an Under Eye Cream?

To ensure that you maximize the benefits of your under-eye cream, it's important to apply it correctly. Follow these steps for optimal results:

Use Your Ring Finger: As the skin around your eyes is delicate, it's best to apply the cream with your gentlest finger - your ring finger.

Use a Pea-sized Amount: Since eye creams are often rich in moisture, you only need a small amount - about the size of a pea. This will help you make the most out of your product and save you money.

Go From Inner to Outer Corner: Apply the cream in small dots, starting from the inner corner and working your way out. Be sure to cover the entire area.

Pat Gently: Rather than rubbing hard, focus on gently patting the product into your skin. This will help avoid tugging and pulling on the delicate skin around your eyes.

Wait a Few Minutes: Eye creams need some time to be absorbed by the skin. So, give it a few minutes before applying any additional products or going to bed.

The Verdict

Always opt for an eye cream with the right stuff for your eye issues and the right price tag for your wallet. Before just jumping into buying the product, its always best to do your homework. We hope that with the help of this blog, we have been able to help you choose the perfect eye cream for your skin type.

We sign off here as we have played our part, and now its your turn to buy an eye cream that your eye area will thank you for.

What I love about roskilde is that I always find so much new music from it ! I love to dig deep to the line up anf discover new music and end up seeing it live with best audience ! Thats already enough for me ! But I found already so much good new music that im hyped about like fever ray, bala desejo, body type, candy, calorine polachek, chat pile (the heavier side of the line up is looking really good !), code orange, dry cleaning, domi & jd beck (this is so good) , jockstrap and sooo many more! Ive been loving it and having a new fresh music to my life. I think roskilde is brave to challenge the audience and try to discover new music and not going with the safe options take me profit for the festival and thats why I love it !

2023.04.01 12:39 Silver_Garage_9021 Best resources you’ve found to learn Russian?

Title. Hate to ask the cliche questions that are always asked in here but I want some advice:
I’m looking to do a paid course in Russian with a University, until then I’ve been using AnkiApp, DuoLingo, Memrise (my main resource). Can anyone offer any advice for what they found to be the best app/resource for learning Russian other than those mentioned?

2023.04.01 12:39 KYEANRNKY Tried to distract myself from the wait...

...by filling my desperation for sci-fi entertainment elsewhere: I binged all of the Mandalorian seasons (and realised how much I was missing out, 10/10), and played some No Man's Sky again, as well as Fallout 4. However, despite trying to combine everything I think and want Starfield to be, I can't temper my impatience to get my hands on this game NOW! Also, for the record, I have been fully supportive of the delays, and I want this thing to be the best it can possibly be, but I am desperate to satiate my thirst for sci-fi entertainment, so if you have any recommendations, I would love to try any. But man, I could not be more ready for this game. See you guys on June 12 for the showcase :) !

2023.04.01 12:39 tefhhygf Nmom sabotages my rides with family members because she can’t get my money

I tend to get stressed when it comes to my finances. I was never given advice or help from my Nmom because she was always after my money. She always opened accounts in her name for me so she can take the money I earn.
She wasn’t trying to help me in anyway. I didn’t know much about atms and as my Nmom refused to help me, I had to ask other family members just to get a ride to the damn bank. And search up how to use an atm.
One time my Nmom cashed a check I got for college as scholarship to fund my education. I trusted her to do it but she spent all the money on herself. I didn’t trust her anymore. Because of her actions I had to go to atms with other family members. I couldn’t trust her. If I looked away for a second she’d pull sometning sneaky.
As my mom got angry at the fact I won’t let the near my money she reached out to other family members to eliminate my chances of getting around and doing what I need to do. My Nmom told my family members to stop taking me places. They just listened to her without even coming to me about it. Talk about petty.
Even though I told them to still take me they would stick to my shitty moms orders. She isn’t even doing what’s best for me, she’s too salty cuz she can touch my money.
I would ask my fam to take me to the bank so I can open a credit card account but they wouldn’t budge. They would attempt me to make the account in their name for some damn reason. I guess that was an order made by my Nmom. If I gave them acees to mt account they could mess with my funds and transfer my money to my mom. It seems like that’s exactly what she wanted. I didn’t let that happen but I also lost rides :(

2023.04.01 12:39 CJMist71 Is there any way to get the Tchernobog on DevilutionX?

Hey, I recently modded my Vita and have played diablo 1 on it. I've beaten it a few times before, so I wanted to try something new. I've looked it up and, apparently, Tchernobog is pretty popular. I couldn't really find anything online, so I decided to ask this sub-reddit for help. Is there any way to get Tchernobog on the vita?

2023.04.01 12:39 schoonerlabs Herbs, Herx, Unknowns & Testing

Long story short, after years of chronic symptoms I saw a naturopath last month. She suspected lyme/coinfections based on the discussion and started me on 2 herbal tinctures, and discussed seeing how this goes for a month before going for testing with Armin Labs (since it isn't cheap).
(Systemic Antimicrobial Tincture #1 (Cryptolepis, Alchornea, Sida, Isatis) – 1 tsp three times daily with food in fluid. Start with a 25% dose and increase by 25% every 2 days if tolerated. Systemic Antimicrobial Tincture #2 (Chinese Skullcap, Japanese Knotweed, Houttuynia, Cat’s Claw) – 1 tsp three times daily with food in fluid. Start with a 25% dose and increase by 25% every 2 days if tolerated. )
I've been doing ok on them I think, aside from the horrid taste, but getting symptoms I think are herx especially when I go over 1/2tsp doses. Headache, stiff neck, fatigue, body aches, chills, and nausea primarily. Not the end of the world but not the best feeling, like I'm getting the flu but no fever.
That being said the unknowns of IF I have Lyme or a coinfection now go through my mind wondering if the current symptoms are herx or if the tinctures are just making me feel like crap on their own, and possibly not having Lyme at all.
If I knew the herbals are working then it becomes more horrible vs feeling worse for no gain.
I know testing is not 100% either so not sure what to do as a next best step??

2023.04.01 12:38 CaramelChance8798 Timing shot from first drop vs turning on pump

As above, I’m curious about what gives people the most consistent results. On my machine there is sometimes a delay of a few seconds from pressing the brew button to water appearing from the group head. I’ve always timed from pressing on, but maybe that’s not the only/best solution?

2023.04.01 12:38 Workhardgymharder What film from each of the last 10 decades (1930’s-2020s) have you seen most recently?

Mine have been…
Godzilla vs Kong (2021) - First time rewatching this since seeing it in the cinema when it came out. I initially gave it 4 stars, but on rewatch have dropped it to a high 3.5 stars. What’s not to love about big titans fighting?!
La La Land (2016) - Been on my watchlist for years but I kept putting it off because I’m really not a fan of Ryan Gosling and musicals are not a favourite genre of mine. In the end my enjoyment of Whiplash and the fact I like Emma Stone convinced me to finally give it a go. The result: not really my cup of tea. Nice scenery but I just found the overall plot and the songs very bland. 2.5 stars.
Battle Royale (2000) - I loved the over the top violence. A fun movie but it loses steam towards the end. 3.5 stars.
Léon: The Professional (1994) - Possibly my favourite performance by Natalie Portman. 3.5 stars
Stand By Me (1986) - A surprisingly moving film with a terrific young cast. 4 stars.
The French Connection (1971) - I thought I’d enjoy this more than I did but I found it fairly boring. Great car chase though. 2.5 stars.
To Kill a Mockingbird (1962) - Finally sat down to watch this film and wow. I can see why it is a classic. Amazing performances from all, particularly Gregory Peck. 4 stars.
Witness for the Prosecution (1957) - Fantastic, I can see why it’s in the top 250 Narrative Feature Films. The film was completely gripping with witty, well acted characters and a superb script. I doubt anyone could have predicted exactly every detail of what was going to happen. 4.5 stars. Billy Wilder is a genius.
It’s a Wonderful Life (1946) - 4 stars for this delightful classic. One of those films I naively put off because ‘surely it’ll be a yawnfest’…. how wrong I was.
The Lady Vanishes (1938) - After Psycho this is my favourite Hitcock film (so far, I still have plenty more to watch). Funny but still full of suspense. 4 stars.
What were yours? Of your 10, what ones would you strongly encourage others to watch?
