Testing grounds for EFT SubReddit :)
2023.03.21 04:24 TheChaosPie Would like some help designing a play through.
I've been smashing this mod out for about a month now (way too many hours if I'm being honest). I've done a few different themed runs, like AK Platform only or "Always have to carry a bolt action", but I usually stop them around level 30 when I think of a new idea. I'm currently doing a "Mid Core" run. I can only use gear I've found, but I'm using Insurance Plus with insurance costs at 100% item value. Can't buy stuff from vendor's unless it's something specifically for a quest. But I've hit a point where the quests just feel annoying rather than interesting to me. I've been trying to think of a good run/challenge to play the game with that isn't just hardcore ruleset (I hate not being able to insure) or to complete all the quests. I've come to ask for some suggestions on rules and mods.
The main gameplay adjusting mods I've been using so far have been:
- Realism Mod
- Softcore (Mostly for the flea market and secure container changes)
- SVM to tweak stuff like boss spawn chance
- BetterSpawns Plus
- Insurance Plus in the last few days
- I've tried playing with Path to Tarkov a few times but when I was doing questing it was more frustrating than engaging.
One idea I keep coming back to, but am not sure how feasible it really is, is to do a "On your back" challenge. Only using the stash to hold onto money (it's a pain to do insurance or anything else cash related when it's in your secure container) and to hold onto items I need for the next immediate upgrades in the hideout (since there's no way to partially complete the upgrade). So I'd have to carry all meds, ammo, and guns I wanted to keep on me. I feel I'd have to do this with Insurance plus to maintain sanity. Alternatively I could make use of the Path to Tarkov multiple stashes option and have drop sites for supplies in the other locations to make things a bit more doable.
Any thoughts or alternate suggestions? I'd love to hear people's ideas.

2023.03.21 03:07 ABeardedPanda Let's talk about keys and how to make them less annoying
For anyone who browses this sub on a semi-frequent basis, keys being a bottleneck for progress is a common pain point to see mentioned.
There's a decent number of tasks that require a key to complete, some of these task are skippable such as Good Fortune (extract the Golden Deagle from Room 302), Return to Sender (Sattiq Poppy Farmer House). Others are not such as Toxin Research (extract research documents from the Ashika Science Center) or Air Traffic (Call in Executive's Aircraft from the Air Traffic Control Tower). One of the common complaints is players not having the keys and being unable to find them despite repeatedly farming supply drops and HVT contracts. Another aspect of this is having the key but being reluctant to infil with it because of the danger of losing the key and then being stuck with the earlier problem.
For those familiar with Escape from Tarkov, they have this problem with a lot of tasks with keys that have very low spawn rates but many earlier tasks are purposefully built around a required key and include a fixed spawn point.
The task "Checking" is a very early quest in Escape from Tarkov and requires the player to retrieve a bronze pocket watch from the cab of a fuel truck on the map Customs. The fuel truck's cab is locked with the "Machinery Key" and the key has a 100% spawn rate in a specific jacket in the Customs three story dorms. This leads to players potentially clashing over the jacket spawn to get the key as well as fighting over the truck itself to retrieve the watch (EFT does have player rather than instance based quest item spawns so you can theoretically just show up late after someone has already unlocked the truck and grab the item).
DMZ could implement a similar system for keys that are required for quests. Add a fixed spawn for quest keys where they will spawn in with a single use (they can still drop with 2-3 uses from HVTs or other places you find keys) so players who need the keys for a quest can rush the spawn for the key. To use a hypothetical example for DMZ, the Ashika Science Center key with a single use has a 100% spawn rate inside the dome of the Zaya Observatory. This makes it possible to target if you need the key for quest progression but it's in enough of a hotspot that it's unlikely players who do not need the key will rush the spawn. The keys don't necessarily have to be in hotspots either, I could easily see leaving a single use 302 key somewhere in that small suburb with two ammo resupply boxes on the Eastern side of the map. It might be a little too close to a player spawn but spawn luck already impacts the difficulty of a lot of quests.
I'd accept a reduction in the loot behind the quest key doors but I personally don't believe that's necessary. Between strongholds, restricted areas and buy stations, large backpacks, three plate vests, and killstreaks aren't that hard to find. In addition, most people who are doing tasks that require keys will do so once they're at least moderately well kitted to maximize their chances of success and minimize the chance they lose the key and have to do it again. EFT also has a decent number of tasks that require a key (that also doesn't often have a fixed spawn) and the room that is unlocked is already a high value loot spawn, the "tape key" to Sanitar's office on Shoreline is a great example of this.
I also don't believe this kind of solution is particularly strange or out of place. Prior to the most recent update that reverted the changes to Building 21 access keycards, you needed to use a key every time you went into the building (yeah there was the glitch if you were in a party but that doesn't work if you're a solo player and the game being mostly built around squad play is a different discussion) and B21 has a large number of quests in it later in the mission chains so B21 access keycards were not uncommon from supply drops and could be outright purchased at buy stations for a large sum of cash to minimize that bottleneck (it's already bottlenecked by being only accessible on weekends).

2023.03.20 13:51 Conserliberaltarian It's time for all the little things to be addressed.
We all experience at least one of these bugs every single raid and have learned to ignore them, but they need to be fixed. Nikita said there are no new major features before Tarkov gets released out of beta. Now is the time BSG, these are things that you know about and need to be addressed:
-Scope zoom level issues
-Scope FOV issues
-Scope Vignetting (black ring when adsing and firing) issues
-Scopes being needlessly dark when using NVG's
-Red dot parallax issues
-Laser FOV issues
-Better weapon attachment balancing (stocks, muzzle break/suppressor combos)
-Fixing the spawns within line of sight of each other on reserve and interchange.
-Boss/rogue AI behavior needs to be completely redone. Most require bug abuse to fight.
-Ammo that's not available from traders needs to be more reliably found in raid.
Things like audio, desync, cheating, matchmaking times are much larger undertakings, and the majority of which are already (allegedly) being worked on. My focus for this post are the little things that are essentially just tweaking values in a text file. There's numerous other things I'm missing, feel free to throw them below!

2023.03.19 23:52 uhhmuhmmhmm gorbachev escape from tarkov
As the freezing winters entering the year 2076 a massive outbreak of Rabies began all over the Russian federation, an overwrought silence fell over Russia. First, Moscow, then Volgograd, Novosibirsk, Belgorod, Saint Petersburg. Russian troops began rapidly withdrawing from Ukraine only before several nuclear detonations struck major cities from an unknown source.
In the east, citizens of Chita reported an "old admiral looking man" walking on the streets. Earthquakes began. Beyond the blizzards of Siberia, Admiral Kolchak had returned, and he was not alone.
Yeltsin, Lenin and Stalin had too rose from their graves only to lead the world into an anarchic wasteland with the souls of undead Asiatic hordes. Putin immediately went to Shoigu, knowing that Shoigu would be the best bet in preventing the hordes and so, the modernized Russian army rode into battle with mere bayonets, muskets and horses personally lead by "Shoigu Khan".
Gorbachev plotted among the hyperborean wasteland, only he could stop Yeltsin. Gorbachev went online, logged into Discord and DMed Yeltsin. It is time for a duel. Whoever could Escape from Tarkov first would win.
Gorbachev decided to raid Factory, what Yeltsin didn't know is he had actually paid for ESP so good that not even Nikita could stop him. He saw Yeltsin, with his penis helmet and the ADAR-15 wandering the upstairs and camping in the office window room. Immediately, Gorbachev noclipped into the room and fired 5403034 shots into Yeltsin because he enabled infinite ammo, aimbot, flyhacks, wallhacks and noclip. Yeltsin was dead.
Kolchak, Lenin and Stalin on the other hand fled into the Siberian wastes but not before Stalin got a ping on telegram as he did not have Discord. A 1 versus 3 on Reserve, a large map, how could Gorbachev ever find them among all the other scavs and players? A dear mistake it was, Stalin and Lenin crept around the armoured train and wait patiently, then they heard an F-1 grenade roll to their feet. Then Kolchak died from that yee-yee ass haircut.

2023.03.19 00:07 ZeeGermans27 Game ruleset worth testing
As I was replying to comment in my previous post, I reminded myself of an interesting ruleset I got an idea for few weeks ago.
The basic idea was that you are supposed to start your initial raid on Streets of Tarkov and keep extracting towards Shoreline - to literally Escape from Tarkov. You are not allowed to use your stash between raids (with an exception for quest items which would lose FiR status otherwise, client-spawned items like watches, documents etc. I kept in my in-raid inventory) or do anything in hideout, also no insuring mid-run - you can bring insured gear in your first raid, but don't insure anything you find during challange. Raids need to be done one after the other in timely fashion in order to not exploit hideout passive hydration/energy recover. Because of these restrictions, you have to prioritize the loot you're taking, and most importantly not become overencumbered, because getting OE mid/late raid is manageable, but imagine having to crawl through another 6 or 7 raids. So your priority is mostly food, meds & ammo - if you find some valuable which isn't too heavy or takes too much space, go for it. But be ready to drop it whenever your need to find space for food or drink, because dehydration/depleted energy is gonna be lethal. Same goes for weapons - if your main gun runs out of ammo, there's no point in keeping it. You just gonna have to use anything you can take from killed scavs or PMCs.
The raid order is as follows:
- 1st raid - Streets of Tarkov
- 2nd raid - Interchange
- 3rd raid - Customs
- 4th raid - Factory
- 5th raid (accidentally) - Reserve (but at least allowed me to restock the hella out of food and drinks)
- 6th raid - Woods
- 7th raid - Lighthouse
- 8th raid - Shoreline
There's no restriction regarding exfils like in Path to Tarkov, so you can go for the one you're most comfortable with, is more safe to reach or is simply the closest one. End Raid status doesn't really matter except for MIA/KIA after which you should start from the scratch.
Lots of fun, keeps you on edge all the time - you suddenly stop doing stupid things and start playing more tactically, prioritizing things essential for your immediate survival. I highly recommend testing that ruleset out in your spare time.
I somehow survived in my first try despite all the shit the scavs and bosses were throwing at me. I played only once that way, because unfortunately it's extremely time consuming (took me about 4-5 hours) hence it's physically/mentally exhausting. also if you want to get shit done, it may be a little bit frustrating having to go all the way to the South, unless of course you decide to stop that "challange". But if you have spare time and nothing important to do like questing or getting scrap for hideout, it might be worth trying in order to keep things fresh.

2023.03.18 19:57 ZeeGermans27 Persistent maps
Just a sec ago a wild idea came to my mind - what if we could have sorts of persistent state maps, where we could gather all the shit as usual, but instead of starting over and over again, we could hoard as many items we want and extract with them gradually. For example - we establish a provisional safe house near Coffee Joy on Streets and we have some supplies - ammo, food, medicine, maybe some spare guns and grenades. we can get out only with a bag and vest, so the problem is - what happens to all that juicy loot? it would clearly be a shame for all that shit we gathered during our raid (normal time or extended via SVM) to go to waste. why don't just extract, sell/stash the loot, hop back into the next raid, go back to that location and get the rest?
Of course there should be some limitations, for example we couldn't spawn near that area. AI which spawns in that location could also potentially steal that loot and we would have to track it down and retrieve our stuff. if we die, we obviously lose everything we had on us, but the rest of stuff stays in that place upon next deployment.
This idea doesn't concern only economical aspects of the game - it would be also a great environment for roleplaying and simulating DayZ-like experience. no changes would be made to loot table (server should restore previous session's static/dynamic loot based on what we have already looted), AI should spawn as usual (not necessarily keep previous boss location, maybe rotate it or even not spawn him during current session).
I know fuck all about EFT's spaghetti code or the way how devs programmed the raids mechanic, but it would be a completely new and fresh experience for many Tarkov vets. Let me know what you think.

We even teach you about how to make money, which comes and goes quickly so knowing how to get more is very helpful. You'll have to click the link below to see what else is included!
Looking for that short and sweet TL;DR? We've got that covered, too. Here's what we offer;
1.) Guidance and information about anything you need.
2.) Fun experiences and strong teamwork.
3.) Clear and focused communication.
4.) A text channel hub with keysets for all maps, ammo charts, and more.
5.) Unique guidance system in the form of a class led by a teacher heavily informed in the subject, every Saturday.

The 7th Rangers is a squad based community but we have branched out to Escape From Tarkov! Is it your first wipe and you have no idea what you are doing? Are you 5 wipes in and an absolute chad? Don't fear not finding a group, we have a wide variety of players from brand-new Timmys to seasoned Tarkov chads, and every skill in between!
We have our very own Sherpa program that consists of our own members who are seasoned Tarkov veterans, who will volunteer their time to help players who are hard stuck on certain tasks, as well as helping out new players improve certain aspects of their gameplay entirely. If you need a sherpa's help, make sure that you read our sherpa info before requesting one.
We have dedicated map and ammo channels so that you can use accurate maps to improve gameplay, and make sure you are using the best ammo to date. We also have a price checker channel to make sure you are making as much in-game money as you can. On top of these channels, our very own Peacekeeper makes weekly, sometimes daily posts about any update that Nikita and BSG make to the game. These posts range from simple ammo, armor, flea market, and trader updates to major wipe changes and new maps, etc. Keep an eye out on the Tarkov announcements channel!
Join the discord and head to # Enlistment-office and react to the guest role, then head over to # read-me and react to our Tarkov role! Like squad, the 7th wants to make Escape From Tarkov a realistic gameplay experience, so make sure that you read into our rules, and be ready to Escape!!

2023.03.17 03:15 georgeoj [Recruiting][AUS/NZ][A3][Semi-Realism] Australian Special Expeditionary Command - ASEC
Discord: https://discord.gg/asecmilsim Who are we? ASEC is a community aiming to a create realistic, player-driven, mutlifaceted milsim experience. Powered by a talented leadership and mission-making team, the ASEC experience is second to none.
Who do we play as? We are based on a fictional department/corps of the Australian Defence Force (ADF). Elements of our ORBAT, procedures and structure are inspired by the real life ADF, but have been gamified in order to create a fun, yet realistic experience in Arma.
We have a huge variety of weapons, camos, helmets, vests, facewear etc that means you can create a character that is uniquely your own, to the point where our members are often identified by sight only.
While our ORBAT consists of traditional company-level assets, we have spent time creating custom scripts and mods that make them both feasible and fun within the world of Arma. For example, our Whiskey (Heavy weapons) and Golf (mortar) sections have the ability to spawn their own equipment, such as static weapons or mortar ammo, and take them into AOs for deployment.
Another example is our Medical Emergency Response Team, a highly trained and well equipped 6-man team designated to resolve mass casualty incidents in high pressure situations, often while under fire with little to no support. Utilising aspects of KAT medical, this team is made up of our most knowledgable medical experts and is extremely effective at keeping the unit moving.
Our ORBAT can be found here:

When Daylight savings is not observed. Load into server: 1800 AEST
Op briefing: 1815 AEST
Step off: 1830 AEST
Mission end: 2030-2130 AEST
When Daylight savings is observed. Load into server: No later than 1730 AEST
Op briefing: 1745 AEST
Step off: 1800 AEST
Mission end: 2000-2100 AEST
We also run unofficial operations and trainings throughout the week but these are optional.
Mission Types & Styles Lead by an experienced Zeus team, we take pride that all of our operations are balanced, challenging and enjoyable week in and out.
Official operations are primarily focused on realism within either the modern setting or a historic setting allowing us to partake in different time periods as ASEC. Meanwhile. Unofficial operations have the ability to use any concept the mission creator desires, from futuristic to fantasy allowing unlimited creative freedom.
While newly founded. With thousands of hours within Arma and Milsim experience under our belts, we have the ability to provide an immersive and enjoyable experience for all members.
Want to join? Join our Discord, then have a 10-15 minute interview to check your experience and see if you're a good fit for our unit. Complete your ICT (30-40 minute training) and you're good to join operations! You must be at least 16 to apply.

2023.03.16 18:18 Spirited-Yak-5027 I don't really *get* Tarkov
Now I just want to preface, this isn't going to be one of those posts going
- Wow I hate this game
- I KEEP DYING WITHIN 20 SECONDS OF CUSTOMS AHHHHHHHH
- FUCKING CHEATERS KEEP 720 NOSCOPING ME
When I say I don't
get Tarkov I really mean I don't understand it and I kind of need help. As right now:
I'm level 12 - the highest I've ever gotten in Tarkov
Have a "not cataclysmic" 1.7 K/D and 7 PMC kills under my belt within 30 raids compared to my previous best in the last four wipes I've played being a grand total of zero PMC kills between all four wipes combined.
And whilst I know about the game mechanics, such as Height over Bore, Ergo, Armour Classes, Ammo types etc etc. Yet this is the first time I've sort of reflected that I don't really know what I'm doing in Tarkov, or phrased differently, I don't really know what I'm playing Tarkov for.
I feel confused as my irl interests massively correlate with Tarkov, I enjoy Firearms, quite like Looter-Shooters and Group/Tactic focused Battle-Royale, yet I can't help but feel as though I've missed something as nothing really feels like it's clicking, unlike my friends who say this is their favorite game ever, I'm not really getting the dopamine rush from PvP, I don't really have the urge to jump into large fights as the gunplay feels too clunky, unreliable and unpredictable. I don't really know how to get even mid-tier let alone to sweaty tier gear, I don't really know what part of the game I really enjoy as I've just been hammering out tasks to get to Flea.
It's the strange paradox where I know how the deeper Mechanics and systems of Tarkov operate and work with each other, but I feel so lost on the foundations of the game, the progress ladder, and generally the why do people play it and figure out what I'm missing as by all accounts I should love this game as much as my friends do if not more as someone with such a massive interest in firearms and firearms customization.
