I'm an international student and booked a room at cubesmart storage. I didn't really know how things worked here, so today I called them and they told me that the state of Michigan requires that I had to have insurance for all my items. If I didn't, I had to purchase an insurance plan w them which is 2000$ for 12 months. Does anyone know of a cheaper alternative or some company that doesn't have it this expensive?

If anyone else uses Midgard storage (formerly Cubesmart) on Osage St (by the 6/25 interchange) be warned that they just slapped a $100 administrative fee for everyone who did not sign a new lease with them when they changed companies in July. They sent out one email last July when the change happened and no follow up since then. So I’ve had my stuff there without a lease for 9 months which is also really frustrating. Nothing to be done about it but just FYI they will keep charging an extra $100/month until you sign the lease. And yes I’m moving my stuff out at the end of the month.
