Hi!
I played F4 when it got out almost 7 years ago. I wanted to return to it now and see what mods got to offer. I like gameplay more than graphics and I'm not afraid of complexity so I've chosen some mods - a list of plugins used, at the bottom of the Wrye Bash report - from Nexus that seemed interesting. The problem is that the game crashes to the desktop a few seconds after I open it, via the Vortex.
The game runs without mods fine.
After reinstalling the game, the same behaviour with the same mods list.
The crash file I found in "/Documents/My Games/Faloout4/F4SE" states that crash was due to the following:
"Unhandled exception "EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION" at 0x7FF65B6C38F0 Fallout4.exe+1B938F0"
Which of course guides me nowhere on the internet and provides no information about the mods involved whatsoever.
I tried different graphics options, running in borderless mode, windowed mode, turning everything too low and turning off every other graphics feature, but nothing.
I have F4SE installed. The latest version, via Nexus.
Below is the report from the Wrye Bash. I tried to "undeploy" the mods it mentions as possible CTD generators but it didn't help.
I used FO4Edit's "QuickAutoClean" mode on mods pointed out by Wrye and some others but it didn't help. Also, I might not be using this tool right, it's strange.

I've started to turn off mods identified by the 'number' of the error. What's strange is, It always stayed at "1B". I undeployed the mod it pointed to, rerun the game, waited for the crash, and a new crash log reported another mod identified as "1B" as an error generator. So, I on purpose deleted the mod identified as "1A" when "1B" was identified by the rule of the topic and voila. The game crashed, and the crash log still pointed to "1B" but now it was a different mod. So... either the rule from this topic is BS or it's something completely different.
Maybe you could have a look at the mods below and see if there is something that you know that generates problems. At this point, any hypothesis is welcome as I'm out of ideas.

So I’ve been doing research on hair since I’ve been trying to get my hair to look a certain way in terms of length or curls. Doing research, it’s come to my attention that I have 4c hair, which, okay, fine. But looking at how 4c hair really is, looking at my hair, and looking at attempts to copy certain hairstyles if you have 4c… it sucks.
You really can’t do anything with it. It looks like a nappy, tangled, wild mess. When you wake up, it’s flat and matted, when you try to curl it, it shrinks and looses its definition. You just kinda look weird. Trust me, I would know.
Which sucks because I try to grow my hair out and it really only stays a certain length and makes my head look weird. Feels like I’ve tried everything and I still don’t have the look I want. I’ll keep trying, but it is what it is: 4c hair is just bad.
Anyone else struggling too?

When I was a kid, around 3rd grade, I was very close friends with three black girls. Two of them had long box braids and the other had natural 4c hair. I was white, and as we all lived in a very white town, they were really the only exposure I ever had to textured hair.
I loved when they let me play with their hair and I did so CONSTANTLY. I was also just an ignorant kid, and so whenever one of the girls got irritated with me for braiding/touching their hair, I would sulk or laugh, thinking I was just teasing them playfully. I clearly remember them getting upset two or three times, but I'm sure it happened more than that, and I just never took it seriously enough to remember.
I guess I thought I was complimenting them by showing how much I admired their hair. And honestly, I really did. I loved it and I was actually pretty jealous because it was so different from mine. But I never touched anyone else's hair like I did with them.
This went on until at least the seventh grade. I still cringe when I remember I would stick pencils into one of the girl's natural 4c hair just because I thought it was funny when they would stick out instead of falling out. I remember her laughing and never taking it too seriously, but this girl was one of my best friends at the time, and in retrospect I know she was probably uncomfortable and just didn't want to be rude or didn't know how to tell me to stop.
Honestly I didn't think anything of any of this until a few years ago, while I was reading about how common it was for people to touch black women's hair without their consent and mock them for it. My heart sank when I realized I had been doing that. I was the disrespectful asshole who teased black girls for their hairstyles and texture. All those times they were irritated at my "playful" insistence, I was harassing them, invading their personal space. I wish I could go back in time and smack my younger self for making them uncomfortable and contributing to that.
As of now none of us have talked for several years (we never stopped being friends, just went to different universities) and I've been trying to muster up the courage to send them all apologies, but I'm not even sure what I should say, or if I should just leave them alone and let them forget about me. I feel awful and weird every time I think about it.

[Update] I sent the apologies and they responded. They were all so sweet about it and thanked me for telling them. I forgot how close we were, and it's so bittersweet to catch up with old friends. I miss them all so much. Feels like a weight off my chest

I have 4c hair. I've been doing twists forever, but I want to try a hairstyle that's out(like wash and go or twist outs, where my hair isnt braided)
I tried a wash and go. The back was defined but the front was really like not clumped or defined. The back curls well really easily. Is there a way to make the front more defined?
I'm having trouble finding a 4c hair blogger. Can you recommend one?

I have been playing this save for quite a while and have honestly had many problems throughout my last many saves with mods. I just want to have the game work properly because I finally don't have problems with my 3 or new vegas mods. The game will load to the main menu and even will play the special cutscenes occasionally once in the main menu though it crashes in 5-20 seconds. The only thing I recently changed was I downloaded the st. Patricks day cc pack and I deleted 2 mods that I realized were overwritten by buffout 4 after it started crashing as well as I deleted darker nights. If anyone could help It would be much appreciated.

FOLLOW UP: while I enjoy the modding experience, I enjoy a crash free modded game experience more. I d/l'd the StoryWealth Collection and am now running, crash free, and really enjoying the environment!
Crashing randomly, plus ALWAYS on Fast Travel and Pip-Boy. I've tried using F4SE,m and without. Running through MO2 and using LOOT. DLC's are uncleaned and have been Steam validated.

My box braid roots look TERRIBLE and I need to take them out but my hair is super short because I accidentally cut some of it last year 😭 my favorite hairstyles are Afros and twist but I go to a new school with a lot of white people and a lot of black girls get bullied for having short 4c hair. How do I find confidence???😭 I’ve been thinking about asking for a silk press but honestly I’m uncomfortable with my hair being straightened and would rather feel good with my 4c hair.

So i have 4c hair and was thinking of bleaching it to more of a blonde/ash type look. How do you find hairstyles that caters for your hair. I live in long island so i think ill go to manhattan Because im not letting other people touch my hair and them doing whatever. My hair is virgin Ive never dyed it before so any tips finding the right hairdresser

Wash and Gos are pretty polarizing on this subreddit. People either love them or hate them.
I honestly used to hate them because my hair would always flake up when I used the gel but after learning you need more water to properly style with gel I liked them again and for them for a bit just out. I noticed my hair would always beak off a lot but I thought it was normal so I paid no mind to it.
Then I decided to switch things up and wire my hair in twists for a week. I saw that my hair would break less and when I washed my hair the pieces of hair that were coming out were longer (aka: shed hair). My shed hair is pretty long but my hair coils up so much it's hard to tell if it's shedding or breakage. I usually have to unravel the coil to see.
I know protective styles aren't super protective but I thing my hair does better in styles like twists or braids. I love my fro but it breaks my hair so badddd. So if anyone has any low tension hairstyles for short 4C hair, please recommend them in the comments. Thank youuuu!

Okay i am getting frustrated. dragons are bugged in my game, they don't show up at all anymore and this is before "dragon rising" and i have live another life mod and when i got to Helgen for the first time i saw alduin on the ground doing a dragon t-pose and not responding at all, that was my first time seeing the problem so i just thought that was it...then i decided to do dragon rising and there i saw the problem, every time i loaded it and to fix it...the dragon never come and the npc just have their normal dialogues but no dragon.

I'm 16 currently, and a guy. Firstly, 4c is barely even visible unless you define it with products. If someone else looks from a distance, they might not even know you have curls in the first place. As a bonus, 4c hair grows the slowest out of all the hair types and gets shrinkage.
But theres so many lucky guys on here with 3c who have curls that are way better than mine. How do you just accept 4c? Like bro 3c and maybe 4a just looks way better. I wish I had better curls man. These coils are so tight. It takes so long to grow out enough hair to be able to get a fully curly style. My goal is to get this hairstyle https://imgur.com/M4WNoGb by 19. I love this hairstyle alot. But I dont have that much hair rn so I need to let it grow out more.
Its just hard to accept 4c when people around you have way better and noticable curls than you. I hope other 4c people can understand why I wish I was a different hair type sometimes. Hello hello! It’s good that you have been working daily now, I’ve only noticed a couple new scars on you! Look at you being all responsible. I’m proud. You also got to meet Adam on Tuesday. Yes, he is usually that quiet. Thankfully it was a quiet day so we’ll take it. Also, I do want to apologize about you meeting a red customer without prior warning or rules to refer to, you’re lucky Vertien was there to take over but you do now owe him two days worth of portions. Keep that in mind. To business, then. This will be all about telling you about customers that we will deal with during our day shift. I have heard that there are different customers that night shift deals with that we don’t. So if you switch shifts I won’t have information on them. Sorry.
1: First are the Unawares. Simply put they are actual people that don’t know about our predicament. They can see the scars, but don’t point them out. They can see all of the fucked up things that happen here, but don’t acknowledge them. Ignorance is bliss and all that. Treat them like real people, help them find stuff. Whatever you do, don’t tell them about what is happening here or about any strange shit. This will change them into one of two types of Awares.
1B: The Aware Assistance is what happens when an Unaware becomes Aware and tries to help us. They will talk to us when a supervisor is around to make us look busy, point out misplaced items and possible sharp objects. They’re a boon to have.
1C: The Aware Hindrance is what happens when an Unaware becomes Aware and doesn’t try to help us. That may not sound too bad, but something about knowing allows this place to seep into their minds. Eventually they will start fucking with us to make our live worse. I’ve seen set rat traps by our supplies, I’ve seen false reports on our guys to get us in trouble. Once I even saw one squat and shit on the floor. Not the most fun of customers, but definitely not the worst.
1D: there is no way to tell the difference between any of these three. Other than remembering their face, understanding their mannerisms, or an employee telling you about one specifically. We also won’t know if they become an Assistance or Hindrance after becoming Aware. That is why we don’t risk it. Take what we got, instead of adding more nails to the bat.
2: The Dirty Ones. I touched on these ones in my last page. These are the more feral customers that we get, and I’m like ninety percent sure they aren’t real people. They are mostly found in aisles two, sixteen, twenty two, thirty two, and ninety six. Though if you are infected with their pheromone they will come to you in every aisle except thirteen, twenty six, forty two, and forty three. The only exception to these is if a Supervisor has their eye on you, in which you will be left alone by the dirty ones entirely.
3: The Dyed. These customers are incredibly easy to notice, as they always have dyed hair. They will find an employee and bitch at them relentlessly. Finding any reason to complain. (which is incredibly easy here) as long as they don’t ask for our Supervisor, you’ll be fine.
3B: under the unfortunate circumstance they do ask for the Supervisor, one of two things will happen. Either the Supervisor will appear out of nowhere and your fate of punishment is sealed, or they won’t. This will usually happen because they have their eye on someone else or are currently punishing someone else. If they don’t immediately appear, tell them that the Supervisor is out. They will strike you. As long as you don’t strike back they’ll leave you alone from there.
4: The Impatient. All of the Impatient look exactly the same. An old coot with a white, horseshoe hairstyle. They always wear cargo shorts with oil stains on the front and a white wife beater. They also have terrible scoliosis, as in you can see their spine sticking out of their back like the plates of a stegosaurus. If you see an Impatient help them IMMEDIATELY, they are called impatient for a reason. If they ask for help finding something you take them to it, if you can’t find it ask any employee. (excluding Micah, he’ll throw you off the path) Don’t be afraid to ask the Supervisor either, asking for help with a customer isn’t punishment worthy.
4B: if an Impatient starts to get… impatient, get an employee to tell the cashiers so they are prepared. We have one cashier you might have seen, a huge scar on the right side of her face and milky white right eye? Her name is Victoria and she got a credit card to the face from an Impatient, and it was enough to kill her. We work as one team, communication is important.
4C: If an Impatient loses his cool around you, apologize to your fellow employees the next day, they had to clean you up.
5: The Pinks: you won’t notice the Pinks without interacting with them, they’ll look like the Unawares until you talk to them. When you do interact with them, they will ask for help finding something EXTREMELY obscure, and while you help them out they will get very flirtatious. Starting out with small compliments and eventually turning into hands on groping and some incredibly graphic descriptions of what they will do to you/want you to do to them. There isn’t any forceful influence on you to make one decision or the other, but I suggest not banging them. It’s more risk than it’s worth.
5B: If you do decide to do the dirty, I would prefer you didn’t but it’s better to be prepared then to do something stupid so here is a few pieces of advice. Do it somewhere quiet, I suggest aisle one hundred and beyond. Usually customers don’t want to walk that far and without customers employees don’t venture that far out. The Supervisor will poke their head over there every once in a while so still stay alert.
We recently started selling mattresses in aisle two thirty six, so if you’re willing to walk that far, more power to yall.
5C: the experience won’t be godlike, it’s not a succubus or incubus. It’s one step above humans. If you’re lucky it’ll be good, if you’re unlucky it’ll suck, otherwise it’ll be ok. Don’t expect or ask for better, you get what you get and being rude to them will probably make them ask for a Supervisor. (refer to 3B)
5D: you’re gonna be lethargic for the rest of work, the employees won’t judge your choice, they’ve made it too. But they won’t pick up your workload, you made the decision yourself.
5E: You've likely picked up an STD from the experience because we don’t sell protection. Don’t worry, it’ll heal itself after your next punishment.
6: The Reds: you’ve met with one before. Again, sorry. Reds are fairly easy to spot, they look like anyone else except absolutely vibrating with anger. Best we can do is steer clear. Don’t make eye contact, step out of their path, try not to share an aisle with them. If they start trying to get your attention call for the Supervisor, then punch the Supervisor. It’ll get you out of the situation.
7: The Thieves: usually wear baggy clothing like sweaters, sweats, dresses, backpacks, large purses, and the likes. If you see one, no you didn’t. Walk away and don’t talk about it. They get rid of stuff we usually don’t need. It’s a bit of a symbiotic relationship, an unsaid alliance. They can also get away with some crazy shit. I saw a girl in an ankle-length dress open a computer monitor box up, take it out, put it up her dress and walk out like nothing was up there.
7B: If Samantha is working at the till and you see one of the Thieves, tell her. She likes to know if they are around. Otherwise don’t tell people.
That’s it for the main groups of customers and what you will mainly be dealing with. There are a few customers we get that don’t have multiples of, and that each have their own rules. One universal rule for ALL of them however, is that they will remember you, so treat them like royalty. Golden rule and all that.
8: First is Soren, nicknamed Slim. you’ll pick him out very quickly when you see him, standing about ten foot seven while crouching. Long, black hair that he keeps very clean, and a lot of joints. He has to have at least seven elbows per arm. When he stands upright he looks like a regular guy, but really tall and really thin. He is a ghostly pale and you can see the skin clinging to his bones, he is healthy however. (according to himself) whenever he moves you here a lot of cracking, like when you crack your knuckles or pop your neck but constantly. He’s got an Australian accent and isn’t afraid to swear. He’s honestly a sweetheart. If you find Slim in an aisle feel free to talk to him, if he is in an aisle with one of the Reds ask him to change aisles to not disturb customers with your conversation.
8B: A couple rules for Slim, don’t use an Australian accent around him. He finds it offensive. The exception is if you hail from Australia and remember both the accent and the lingo.
8C: You can ask him to help out with some of your work, but make sure it’s all up high. If it’s in easy reach of you don’t ask.
8D: if he is holding a basket filled with items, don’t ask for help. He is there to shop that day, not help.
8E: Chat to Slim like he is a normal guy. Introduce yourself, ask his name, where’s he from. Don’t make comments about his height, weight, bone cracking, or most other things about his appearance. DO ask about his hair, he is very proud of it. Just get consent before you try to touch it.
8F: If you have hair in poor condition and you are seen by Slim, he will give you instructions on how to better care for it, follow those instructions. Having good hair feels nice and if you don’t Slim will feel dejected to give more advice, and I like his advice.
9: Margaret is an old crone of a woman who comes in once in a while. She constantly has a covering on her face so the most you're gonna see of her head is her mouth. She doesn’t have any teeth and her mouth is incredibly dark. it smells sickly sweet, like a corpse rotting in honey. She will always be found hunched over a cart filled to the brim with sweets and sharp objects.
9B: If you ever see her, follow behind her by five feet or further. Whistle a toon while following her, by now you should know a couple. If she asks you to change toons then change toons. If she offers you one of her sweets, take it and eat it.
9C: If it has chocolate in it, that’s a regular cookie. Enjoy its taste.
9D: If it is filled with jam, it’s blood. Enjoy its taste.
9E: If it has white chocolate, those are maggots. Enjoy its taste.
9F: If it feels like hair is in your mouth, it’s not hair. It’s fur. Enjoy the taste.
9G: If it is chocolate with a sharp taste, the sharp is literal. Enjoy the taste.
9H: If she hands you a rice krispies bar, those are wasp eggs. Enjoy the taste.
9I: Are you good? Close your eyes and think about REAL food. Focus on the taste of steak, or the crispness of lettuce. Cheese, yogurt, anything but sweets. Continue whistling, louder if you need to, block out her request.
9J: Don’t stop following her until the Supervisor or myself escort her out. Even if the Supervisor is against you, she goes against what the store wants. Because of that the Supervisor will protect you from her.
10: Next we call Zealot. You’ll know if they are in the store. They will be in full plate mail with a large banner off a symbol we have yet to identify. He also wields a chipped claymore and a single handed crossbow.
10B: If you see Zealot, yell out “code steel” then get to the employee housing. If you make it you get the day off with pay. If you don’t make it you get a new scar, and that day won’t be paid for. So expect that sprint to the employee housing to be worse than Black Friday and a burning building combined.
10C: if code steel is yelled out, don’t expect anyone to help you, including me. As much as morale matters, we all got a debt to pay.
11: The Silent: if you see The Silent, I’m sorry. I’ve never heard of anyone surviving it. All I can say is run. Run and scream and cry and claw your eyes out. Do whatever it takes to blind yourself. The physical wounds it causes will heal the next day, the mental wounds you will suffer if you don’t destroy as many senses you have as possible will be there until you’re numb to your feelings, even then not completely.
That’s all you need to know for now. Sorry for getting all down on you at the end there. But there is little pleasure in this place, only what we can make. Anyways, I’ve gotten some word from our more curious greenhorns about some of the other employees. So I’ll be spreading that information ASAP.

Hey I have 4c hair which is thick and I love wearing it out in a fro or a twist out. Lately I haven’t been able to wear my hair out because I have a cochlear implant which is placed on the side of my head on my scalp and it won’t stay on if I wear my hair down. Are there any other suggestions for hairstyles I can do? All advice welcome! Even better if you have an implant yourself
