I have made this geometry using rhino vault ,and i would like to flatten it so that it can be laser cut. I'm not really sure how to go about doing this however. It seems as though each polygon is its own mesh, and the smash command only works on joined surfaces. any ideas?

2023.05.29 18:23 bitchpleaseshutup Is Field Marshal Model overrated?
I was watching an interview of Dr. Daniel Feldmann, an author of a French biography of Field Marshal Model, being conducted on a Youtube Channel called 'Military history not visualized'. As someone who is interested in military history but not very knowledgeable about it, my opinion on Model was that he was a great defensive general and his nickname, the Fireman, was well deserved. However, the author seems to believe that he is somewhat overrated. I will try to summarize his arguments in the next paragraph:-To be considered a 'fireman', one should be able to prove that the commander in question was able to extinguish a fire more effectively than other commanders. Model's performance doesn't indicate this. As the commander of the Army Group North, he retreated a 150 kilometers. This was also what his predecessor, Von Kuechler wanted to do and would have done anyway, so Model doesn't deserve any credit for it. Then, as the commander of Army Group South as well, he merely implemented Manstein's plan(although the author does say that he cannot be blamed for this as he couldn't have done much else as the leader of the Army Group). Then, during Bagration, he once again retreats till the Vistula river, and the only reason the Soviets stopped there was because they were exhausted, not because of any brilliancy on Model's part. Then, in France he once again retreats about 200 kilometers right until he reaches the German and Dutch border. All of these performances show that he didn't really extinguish any fires. Further, all advancing armies of that period had to stop after advancing for 200-300 kilometers due to logistical reasons. In all of the cases mentioned above, this is likely what happened, as opposed to the armies stopping due to Model being particularly good at defense. The author claims that this can be proven by the fact that the situation in other sectors of the front where he was not in charge was not any worse, and even in those places the Soviets eventually stopped advancing at about the same time despite him not being there. Similarly in the west, where Model was commander of the Army Group B(which was in the north), the allied armies in both North and South France stopped advancing at about the same time. So this too must be attributed to the allied armies having advanced as far as they physically could before having to stop to consolidate. The author does say that he was good as a defensive commander when he could defend on 'prepared position' as can be seen by his performance in 1942 at Rzhev, where the Soviets failed completely, even though they succeeded spectacularly in Stalingrad at the same time, because he had time to create static defenses. The author also attributes his success at the Huertgen forest to this. He contrasts these cases with his defensive abilities in cases of fires that have already spread, which he claims were not anything special.
Does this seem like a fair assessment of his career? And if so, would it be fair to include him in the list of other overrated Wehrmacht generals, like Rommel?

2023.05.29 18:23 Ambitious_Nebula_484 Guess it’s time for season recap. Once again
| Now the BP is over, Commanding Force ends for me too. This was my 4th season I play this game. Reached Player level 232. End of last season I was insanely hyped to jump from gold into platinum. This season just got better. I was able to reach Emerald which was the goal I set. With a good KD I managed to get through Diamond and into Champ. Even if it’s Ranked 2.0 I’m really happy chilling with 2 RP in Champ. Otherwise I was able to get my hands on some older skins through codes etc which is kinda cool tho. The one Elite this season wasn’t that bad, still think the uniform is ugly af. Some cool new skins in the new Bravo Rotation were (re)released. Especially the Alibi skin which is a 10/10 The Event was absolutely not my sort of taste. The Cosmetics are sort of funny but that’s it. A bandit laying on the floor with the exact same color knifing a teddy is not the big deal. submitted by Ambitious_Nebula_484 to Rainbow6 [link] [comments] |

2023.05.29 18:22 Working-Durian-4666 About Reef_chain
REEF, or Reliable Extensible Efficient Fast, is a Layer-1 Blockchain designed specifically for DeFi, NFT, and Gaming applications. Developed using the Substrate Framework, it offers remarkable scalability, enabling fast and affordable transactions. Reef supports Solidity and EVM, allowing developers to effortlessly migrate their DApps from Ethereum without any need for code modifications.
Reef Chain stands as the most advanced blockchain compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM). It possesses the ability to self-upgrade and incorporates on-chain governance. The infrastructure also supports EVM extensions, which facilitate features such as native token bridges, scheduled calls (e.g., recurring payments), and smart contract code upgrades without deployment changes. Furthermore, Reef Chain aims to expand its compatibility by supporting additional virtual machines, allowing developers to write code in multiple programming languages. The network operates on the Nominated Proof-of-Stake (NPoS) consensus mechanism, ensuring scalability and low fees.
The native token of Reef is called REEF and serves various purposes, including covering transaction processing fees and data storage costs. Additionally, REEF tokens are staked by individuals running validator nodes and are used for nominating trusted validator nodes within the network. Notably, Reef has garnered support from prominent funds and venture capitalists such as NGC, QCP, Bitcoin.com, Kenetic Capital, LD Capital, TRG Capital, Krypital Group, Genesis Block, Woodstock Fund, and others.
Reef Chain offers a range of development tools to support its ecosystem. These include Remix and EVM integrated development environments for deploying smart contracts, Reefscan blockchain explorer for validator deployment, bonding and nomination, contract debugging, and network performance analysis. Additionally, developers can utilize Reef's command line tools to deploy applications from their local environments. Finally, Reef provides a dedicated wallet for users to access and interact with the blockchain seamlessly.

2023.05.29 18:18 thinkingstranger May 28, 2023
https://heathercoxrichardson.substack.com/p/may-28-2023 Tomorrow is Memorial Day, the day Americans have honored since 1868, when we mourn those military personnel who have died in the service of the country—that is, for the rest of us.
For me, one of those people is Beau Bryant.
When we were growing up, we hung out at one particular house where a friend’s mom provided unlimited peanut butter and fluff sandwiches, Uno games, iced tea and lemonade, sympathetic ears, and stories. She talked about Beau, her older brother, in the same way we talked about all our people, and her stories made him part of our world even though he had been killed in World War II 19 years before we were born.
Beau’s real name was Floyston, and he had always stepped in as a father to his three younger sisters when their own father fell short.
When World War II came, Beau was working as a plumber and was helping his mother make ends meet, but in September 1942 he enlisted in the Army Air Corps. He became a staff sergeant in the 322nd Bomber Squadron, 91st Bomb Group, nicknamed "Wray's Ragged Irregulars" after their commander Col. Stanley T. Wray. By the time Beau joined, the squadron was training with new B-17s at Dow Army Airfield near Bangor, Maine, and before deploying to England he hitchhiked three hours home so he could see his family once more.
It would be the last time. The 91st Bomb Group was a pioneer bomb group, figuring out tactics for air cover. By May 1943 it was experienced enough to lead the Eighth Air Force as it sought to establish air superiority over Europe. But the 91st did not have adequate fighter support until 1944. It had the greatest casualty rate of any of the heavy bomb squadrons.
Beau was one of the casualties. On August 12, 1943, just a week before his sister turned 18, while he was on a mission, enemy flak cut his oxygen line and he died before the plane could make it back to base. He was buried in Cambridge, England, at the Cambridge American Cemetery and Memorial, the military cemetery for Americans killed in action during WWII. He was twenty years old.
I grew up with Beau’s nephews and nieces, and we made decades of havoc and memories. But Beau's children weren't there, and neither he nor they are part of the memories.
Thinking about our untimely dead is hard enough, but I am haunted by the holes those deaths rip forever in the social fabric: the discoveries not made, the problems not solved, the marriages not celebrated, the babies not born.
I know of this man only what his sister told me: that he was a decent fellow who did what he could to support his mother and his sisters. Before he entered the service, he once spent a week’s paycheck on a dress for my friend’s mother so she could go to a dance.
And he gave up not only his life but also his future to protect American democracy against the spread of fascism.
I first wrote about Beau when his sister passed, for it felt to me like another kind of death that, with his sisters now all gone, along with almost all of their friends, soon there would be no one left who even remembered his name.
But something amazing happened after I wrote about him. People started visiting Beau’s grave in England, leaving flowers, and sending me pictures of the cross that bears his name.
So he, and perhaps all he stood for, will not be forgotten after all.
May you have a meaningful Memorial Day.

2023.05.29 18:17 lurebat The original patching guide
Intro
I tried to walk away,
I really did.
I tried swiftkey for most of the year, but it wasn't the same, it's never the same.
I tried MessageEase, and Thumbkey, 8vim, keyboardmaker, and while creative, they're not nintype.
So I'm back, and this time I'm going to take a step.
Decompiling - background
Android apps are usually written in java or kotlin, and are compiled to bytecode that is ran on a virtual machine.
This method makes apps very easy to disassemble - turning the app from one complete part into the basic componenets that make it, including readable code.
The bytecode retains a lot of the information of the individual program, so you can see what it does, how it does it and even modify it.
Programming knowledge is required, of course, but unless the app added a protection layer, it's really not that hard.
Is it legal?
I'm not a lawyer
Is it ethical?
It's a free app that the creator abandoned for years.
That's the only way we can fix and improve on it.
Make your own moral choice.
The bad news
IMPORTANT
Nintype is not a regular android app. It is comprised of two parts - the java layer to interact with the android system, display the keyboard, forward inputs, etc, and a native library based on opengl.
Native libraries for android are written in c++, and can be used to pass over the java layer, and interact more closely with the OS. This is useful for performance or for creating a custom graphical engine, and nintype does both.
Unlike java bytecode, native libraries are compiled to pure machine code.
Inspecting it, traversing through it and god forbid modiying it is a much much tougher endeavor.
This means that a lot of features will be unavailable to tweak, change or even inspect without a lot of work and effort. I'm writing it up-front so you won't get your hopes up.
Now let's talk about what we can do.
Let's get down to buisness
What do you need?
Programming knowledge
Sorry, if you don't know what github is, this isn't the guide for you.
Feel free to skip to the apk download at the end.
I will try to help if people try anyway, but I'm not here to tutor on cs101.
Tools
If you are familiar with these tools you might have different choices or workflow, you are welcome to share.
Starting out
Open APK Tool GUI:
https://preview.redd.it/p6eq7glo881b1.png?width=589&format=png&auto=webp&v=enabled&s=b2dbe00a1f2e392a6f6fecdf1cfc7458fcd2e3b9 In the first box put in your apk, and press decompile.
You now should now have a folder with the name of your apk (Keyboard 69_69.0007_apkcombo.com)
https://preview.redd.it/bv1d2heq881b1.png?width=505&format=png&auto=webp&v=enabled&s=8324a85a28151c6e9947cb0da93350c8c1f20ec0 This is the app, disassembled.
To assemble it back, press "Compile" in APK Tool GUI.
If it doesn't regcognize the directory, put it in manually in the second box.
Decompiling
Next, we'd want to have a version with code we can open in android studio.
Open jadx and open your apk file there.
You can already see the decompiled code, and for small changes you might not even need anything more.
But since I don't like editing smali manually, I did this:
Press Ctrl+E Or file➝save as gradle project
Save it in a new directory and you can open it with android studio.
Yay!
Now I wish it would just decompile perfectly, since then it would be much much easier to make adjumensts and even upgrade the package. But it doesn't, and I didn't need to spend time on that.
If anybody wants they're welcome.
Tweak 0 - Renaming the app
Now the first thing you'd want to do is to rename the app and package, so it won't clash with your existing nintype installation.
Just open the disassembled folder from earlier (from apk tool gui, not from jadx), and edit AndroidManifest.xml.
change "package" and "android:label" to something else:
https://preview.redd.it/uekwen2t881b1.png?width=1253&format=png&auto=webp&v=enabled&s=a992d54be000b69f389d38f66c37a46cb8f410eb Now you can press compile on apk tool gui, if you've set up debugging you can also transfer and install the app in the adb tap, or configure it automatically in the signing tab, or you can just transfer the apk to the device however you like and install it there.
It will warn you that the app is dangerous.
You can expand the menu and press install anyway.
Of course, everything in this guide is at your own risk.
Tweak 1 - Fixing the goddamn enter key
If you have used nintype for a while, you'd know the enter key doesn't support different forms.
In some apps, instead of doing a "send" or "go" or "ok" action, it will do nothing.
This has bothered me to no end. Luckily, it's an easy fix.
So I searched for what could be considered pressing the enter key.
I tried "\n", which is the newline character, and got lucky.
This is the code:
if (theop.type == 's') { if (theop.strarg.equals("\n")) { keyDownUp(ic, 66); }
In
SoftKeyboard.java And as I suspected, it always sends a direct enter key and does not consider the context.
Doing some research, this was the fix:
if (theop.type == 's') { if (theop.strarg.equals("\n")) { int action = IME_ACTION_NONE; if ((globalsoftkeyboard.getCurrentInputEditorInfo().imeOptions & IME_FLAG_NO_ENTER_ACTION) == 0) { action = (globalsoftkeyboard.getCurrentInputEditorInfo().imeOptions & IME_MASK_ACTION); } if (action != IME_ACTION_NONE) { ic.performEditorAction(action); } else { keyDownUp(ic, 66); } }
Just checking for a flag and sending the right command.
Now this change you do in android studio in the gradle project you created from jadx.
Now build the project, and you should have this file in your system:
\app\build\intermediates\project_dex_archive\debug\out\com\jormy\nin\SoftKeyboard.dex
Tweaking
This is the compiled class.
Now drag it to jadx, press "smali" at the button to get the machine code.
Now you will have the edited smali file of SoftKeyboard on the screen.
Open the original smali file from your decompiled folder - \smali\com\jormy\nin\SoftKeyboard.smali
Place a backup of it somewhere safe outside of the project,
and replace its contents with the contents from jadx.
Now press compile again, install the apk, and viola - the enter key works.
Tweak 2 - Fixing the hebrew layout
Now this turned out to be much easier than I expected.
The hebrew layout in nintype is annoying because the backspace is on the top for no reason and you have readjust every time you switch.
No more!
Layout files are really easy in nintype
They are under the "assets" folder, and end with "emkeylayout".
Don't let the extension fool you - they are normal text files.
Here, for example, is the Hebrew layout:
renderchars row: :dontsplit "leftcursorer" nobacker altpic "small24_dragindi.png" one @ 27 namify one two @ 26 namify two three @ 27 namify choicer "rightcursorer" nobacker altpic "keyboard_dragright.png" row: !u1511 >> userenderer !u1512 >> userenderer !u1488 >> userenderer !u1496 >> userenderer !u1493 >> userenderer !u1503 >> userenderer !u1501 >> userenderer !u1508 >> userenderer "<" @ 10 namify backspace cannoborder altpic "keyboard_backspace.png" row: !u1513 >> userenderer !u1491 >> userenderer !u1490 >> userenderer !u1499 >> userenderer !u1506 >> userenderer !u1497 >> userenderer !u1495 >> userenderer !u1500 >> userenderer !u1498 >> userenderer !u1507 >> userenderer row: !u1494 >> userenderer !u1505 >> userenderer !u1489 >> userenderer !u1492 >> userenderer !u1504 >> userenderer !u1502 >> userenderer !u1510 >> userenderer !u1514 >> userenderer !u1509 >> userenderer row: "123" @ 15 summon num altpic "keyboard_123.png" ' @ 10 namify langer ' @ 50 namify space "maindot" @ 10 namify maindot cannoborder "ret" @ 15 namify ret altpic "keyboard_enter.png"
It's YAML or a YAML-like language that describes the keys row-by-row.
Each row is an array of keys, and each key is that key's function, then >>, and then additional settings.
You can also open qwerty.emkeylayout since it's simpler.
Here you don't even need to compile or mess with jadx or android studio.
Since it's an asset, you can just edit directly in the apk tool disassembled dir (after backing it up of course)
Here is my new hebrew layout:
renderchars row: :dontsplit "leftcursorer" nobacker altpic "small24_dragindi.png" one @ 27 namify one two @ 26 namify two three @ 27 namify choicer "rightcursorer" nobacker altpic "keyboard_dragright.png" row: '/ >> '' >> nobacker isapostrophe !u1511 >> userenderer !u1512 >> userenderer !u1488 >> userenderer !u1496 >> userenderer !u1493 >> userenderer !u1503 >> userenderer !u1501 >> userenderer !u1508 >> userenderer row: !u1513 >> userenderer !u1491 >> userenderer !u1490 >> userenderer !u1499 >> userenderer !u1506 >> userenderer !u1497 >> userenderer !u1495 >> userenderer !u1500 >> userenderer !u1498 >> userenderer !u1507 >> userenderer row: !u1494 >> userenderer !u1505 >> userenderer !u1489 >> userenderer !u1492 >> userenderer !u1504 >> userenderer !u1502 >> userenderer !u1510 >> userenderer !u1514 >> userenderer !u1509 >> userenderer "<" @ 10 namify backspace cannoborder altpic "keyboard_backspace.png" row: "123" @ 15 summon num altpic "keyboard_123.png" ' @ 10 namify langer ' @ 50 namify space "maindot" @ 10 namify maindot cannoborder "ret" @ 15 namify ret altpic "keyboard_enter.png"
Which moves the backspace to the bottom row, and adds an ' and a / like a real hebrew keyboard.
Compile, install and it works.
I'm very excited to see what layouts people will come up with.
Tweak 3 - correct keyboard for function (failed)
Other keyboards have the ability to adapt to the input field, if you need a number it will open the numpad etc.
I wanted to add it to swiftkey, which currently only does it with passwords and urls.
The code is in SoftKeyboard.java (after I subbed the constants):
switch (attribute.inputType & TYPE_MASK_CLASS) { case TYPE_CLASS_TEXT: int variation = attribute.inputType & TYPE_MASK_VARIATION; typemode = "uri"; if (variation == TYPE_TEXT_VARIATION_PASSWORD) { typemode = "passwd"; } if ((attribute.inputType & TYPE_TEXT_FLAG_AUTO_COMPLETE) != 0) { } break; } TextboxEvent inf = new TextboxEvent(TextboxEventType.APPFIELDCHANGE, attribute.packageName, attribute.fieldName, typemode);
Sadly, this is as far as I can go.
This code calls directly to the native library, which is hardcoded to accept only "uri" and "password" as the special types. So unless someone has a clever way for this, it's a dead end.
TL;DR - or "just give me the APK already"
I hope this means other people will pick this up and maybe try to revive the keyboard somehow.
The next step is probably full re-compilation, then tackling the lib.
If you don't want to do it yourself, you can download the apk I made.
It has both tweaks (enter key fix and hebrew keyboard layout), and I might add more later (you are welcome to suggest but don't expect anything).
Download - MEGA
When you'll install it it will warn you that it's unsafe. They're right.
I can promise you that the only changes I did are what I described here, but I'm just an internet rando.
If you really want to be sure - do it yourself.

2023.05.29 18:14 MyPersonalVentAcc One of the biggest fights happened before my very eyes, and I don't know how to feel.
Hi! I'm a 15 year old girl. (Background and characters:) My mother, (37f) is a clean freak with severe OCD. She loves a clean house. She spends a lot of her day cleaning up to three times a day (probably more lol).
My sister N is 18, she has just graduated a few days ago! N is messy, she doesn't care about a little mess. She doesn't do her laundry, she doesn't make her bed, she doesn't clean up after herself. But in her defense, she needs back surgery, so that's her excuse. And she's going through a lot, she's a hard worker, she studies and struggles a lot with her dispraxia.
There's my mom's bf P, he's messy too.
Story: yesterday my sister N was in the bathroom taking a bath. She loves to do that for around 1-3 hours, she enjoys relaxing after studying/anything hard/a hard day overall. The bath was left for a while so obviously it got cold, N waited until the end of the day to get in when it was luke-warm. By that time P had turned the water off to my mothers command. After that N had texted me, asking me to check, so I did and told her it was off.
The next thing I hear is N getting out of the bath, unlocking the door, pounding on my mother's door (she keeps it locked) and P opens
They began arguing, I couldn't hear it all but from what i gather it went like this
P: -unlocks door - wha- N: why did you turn the water off? My bath is cold and I don't even have any water to wash my hair P: your mother told me to. N: well I needed to wash my hair!!
From what I heard from downstairs either P slammed the door on her or she pulled it shut. Then she went into the bathroom, slamming the door again, and draining the water. She began screaming about how she "can't even FUCKING wash my hair in this house" and screamed "FUCK YOU!!!!" and continued talking to herself before my mother yelled from her room to shut up.
The next day.
I had woken up to my mother yelling, "Op! Where's the yellow liquid?" (she's talking about yellow cleaning stuff. I had cleaned the house with it yesterday) I responsed "I don't know, I put it back" But of course she continued yelling, by that time I was up and preparing getting dressed for our appointment at CAMHS (It's a place that helps Minors with high anxiety and depression)
My mother turned her anger to N, yelling about what happened last night. It begun, the screaming match. This is all i can recall as I was also crying (I never cry. I usually just sit in silence, )
Mom was yelling at N, N was screaming back and started bawling about how she's suffering too, about how she's in pain too, and about how mom abuses us and screams all the time (she does) mom screamed back that she's only screaming because N doesn't clean up after herself, and about how she's always a slave to N (something she says often) It goes back in forth with N saying that mom screams all the time and mom screaming back about how she's a slave, and had just lost her sister in the last year, and she never had time to grieve.
I was just in my bed crying. After they were done screaming my mom called me to sort the clothes. Finding what's mine, she saw I was crying and was a bit shocked since I never cry. She talked in a gentle manner to me to just find my clothes.
My mom said she didn't want me to be upset. She said that N was making out to be her fault, I stayed silent, she sighed and said it was both their fault, I nodded and walked passed.
I got dressed and mom said we weren't going to the appointment anymore because it was just to discuss my antidepressants (which I have, its just to talk about how it's going) I said fine, now I'm on the couch typing this out. My mom wants me to calm down and not be upset before leaving. She said she's keeping a close eye on me because she's afraid I'll commit suicide.
I'm just so confused on how to feel. My chest hurts. My cheeks are wet. This can't be normal.
Id really appreciate any feedback at all, maybe about who's in the wrong? Maybe about how i should feel? I'm happy to answer questions...
TL;DF: my ocd mother is screaming at my sister about being messy and rude to her. It ended up becoming a screaming match between the two.

2023.05.29 18:12 suck-on-my-karma Are ENTJs really what they seem on the surface?
I am really just trying to understand my mom who is an ENTJ.
About her:
- She's very commanding and highly assertive, almost to a fault like it's her default way of communication. She's excellent at being harsh to people. But I have seen her struggle to build connections due to this (though she has a handful of people who are very loyal to her), as people cannot take that relentless commanding nature.
- She strongly believes that the world is not an easy place and life is a lot about fighting for your goals. So she's great at motivating and pushing people - essentially preparing people for a fight and training them on mental resilience.
- She's VERY deeply caring about the people (in this case, just me) that she chooses to care about and will go to all lengths to help them and see them succeed - it's almost like an obsessive devotion to a cause and her methods are very different from the XSTJ way of doing things (my step father is ISTJ and step sister is ESTJ, neither approve of her methods - but she doesn't care at all).
However, I sense that her coarse exterior comes at a cost to her mental health. It's almost like she doesn't care if her words hurt someone, or if they repay her for her contribution, but it matters to her that the objective / goal is accomplished. Her emotions are buried so deep within that it's impossible to connect emotionally with her. For some reason, I sense that she has been through something bad prior to my birth - which she refuses to speak about with a strong face, yells back at me and will probably never share.
Regardless, I know that it's all "hail ENTJ" on reddit, but IRL people might see them as overly commanding and harsh - and some can even go as far as vilifying them and strategize to take them down - purely cause they see ENTJs as a threat. From as much as I can understand, I believe that ENTJs are absolutely amazing people, and the people that they choose to care for are extremely lucky. But on the inside some of you probably have very deep seated emotional wounds that you refuse to share. I just want to say that take care of yourself too.
