2023.06.01 20:30 Venboven Ideas for new settings
For future DLCs or updates, I think the most important factor is changing up the game mechanics. New settings are nice and all for aesthetics, but it wouldn't be very fun it if it was the same gameplay each and every time. So here's my suggestions for how some unique settings could change the gameplay:
-The most interesting new campaign setting imo would be an Arabian theme. First off, it would just be an awesome aesthetic, but it would also completey change how you get coins. With a desert environment, farming should be disabled, and hunting animals would be scarce. The primary source of coins would become trading/caravans. I'm not sure exactly how to implement this, but it's a cool thought.
-Another fun theme could be a mountainous environment like Tibet. I envision this to be a highly defensive playstyle, in which vagrants spawn much less frequently, so the kingdom must rely more on its defensive structures than its archers.
-India or the Maya could also make for a really fascinating jungle themed game with major focus on building temples to the gods and sacrificing things for supernatural bonuses.
-A setting themed around Polynesia or maybe even Atlantis could be fun as well. I haven't really thought this one through entirely, but a water-based game just sounds really cool lol.

2023.06.01 20:19 Kapu1178 1 Year Anniversary Update
| Daedalus' 1-Year Anniversary MEGA Update Yeah. Wow. It's going to be a year of Daedalus Dock on June 14th. To celebrate, we have made some massive changes coming to YOU, yes YOU, user, this Sunday, June 4th at 4:30pm EST. (Event: https://discord.gg/mrVPxZAqU7?event=1113723433780514836) Inside our Discord you will find channels with everything you need to know about the new content coming, but I will be re-posting much of it here. Combat Overhaul: Overview Stamina is now a manageable resource that regenerates over time. Attacking costs stamina, but will never reduce you below a fixed point, at which point attacks become free. Nearly every attack in the game inflicts stamina damage, in varying amounts. In addition, you can expend stamina to sprint, allowing you to move at a rapid pace. If your stamina is too low, you will become Exhausted being rendered unable to sprint and moving slower until you recover. Stamina Crit is gone and in it's place is a Critical Knockout (also called a Stamina Stun), more on that later. Upon being reduced to below 0 health, you will enter Soft Crit. During Soft Crit, your stamina is *greatly* reduced, you are unable to sprint, move at crawl speed, and are unable to speak. You will take Oxygen damage until you exit Soft Crit, either by being healed or entering Hard Crit. https://preview.redd.it/vfbj7ta46g3b1.png?width=157&format=png&auto=webp&s=e5a65a9c60a50f0618c7b786d528bed43f5c4be5 General Combat Melee Attacking in any way costs Stamina, with a varying cost based on what you are attacking with. In addition to dealing the weapon's normal damage, the victim will likely be dealt Stamina damage as well, varying based on weapon. Many common items on the station such as Toolboxes, Wrenches, and even sheets of metal deal very high stamina damage, giving you many options to defend yourself from an assailant. If you drop below 50 Stamina, you will be exposed to a Stamina Stun. Every time you take Stamina damage, you will have a chance to be knocked out for 3 seconds. The chance of a Stamina Stun scales the less stamina you have, with a 100% chance at 0 stamina. Keep your stamina in check! Weapon Stats Batons, Flashes and Disorient Batons and Flashes have lost their ability to instantly knockdown targets. In return, a new effect has been added to the game, known as Disorient. Attacks that inflict Disorient deal Stamina damage, and inflict the Confusion effect. If you are Exhausted when you are inflicted with Disorient, you will be incapacitated for some time. The intent for this change is to give some chance for targets to escape or incapacitate their attacker, while keeping these weapons as strong crowd control tools, *especially* in numbers. Diagonal spessman, what he gonna do... Sprinting Sprinting is very simple. Hold shift, run fast, lose Stamina. You can sprint until you drop below a certain number of Stamina, where you'll be Exhausted. This effect disables your sprint until you recover enough Stamina. https://i.redd.it/832mooek6g3b1.gif Soft Critical Upon reaching 0 health, you enter Soft Crit. During this time you receive a number of effects: - Unable to speak.
- Unable to sprint.
- Movement speed reduced to Crawl speed.
- Cannot breathe.
- Maximum Stamina reduced by 100. (40%)
- Stamina recovery reduced by 5 (50%)
However, you will remain standing and able to fight. You can use this time to attempt to get away, or to use the last of your strength to finish your attacker. If you drop below -100 health, you enter the traditional Hard Crit, and become unable to fight, teetering on the brink of death. https://preview.redd.it/y578pvkq6g3b1.png?width=307&format=png&auto=webp&s=2bf20896d11c3471be1a11b5c2a0f5fe592ea4eb https://preview.redd.it/axncjqvq6g3b1.png?width=960&format=png&auto=webp&s=dc976a24886369a58813ea4810bda041465c946b Character Creator: Overview For reasons I've gone over before, I've ripped out the TGUI character creator and rebuilt it from the ground up in HTML4.1. / Thank you Wolfgang, now get back to work sorting through the user flair requests.
Make a comic about artificial intelligence and automation!
Since we already have some (albiet flawed) AI comic artists here at
/polandball (
wildeofoscar), even those of you with a pulse can compete. Just make sure it's you making the comic, and not ChatGPT (OscarGPT is specifically
allowed for this contest). Your comic can be set in the here-and-now or the not-so-distant future. The comic simply has to revolve around AI, machine learning, or automated mechanization.
Specific Contest Rules
- BOTswana can't be the only AI/robot in your comic.
- No comics based around Terminator.
- No comics about AI's simply breaking Asimov's 5 Laws of Robotics.
General Contest Rules
- The comic must have a minimum of 3 panels and a maximum of 8 panels.
- The comic must have been written and drawn entirely by yourself.
- No animated GIFs accepted.
- No photorealism.
- You must follow the rules in the Official Polandball Tutorial.
- The deadline for submitting your entry is Thu June 15 at 15:00 GMT
In order to participate in the contest, submit your art piece to the subreddit and then flair it as contest entry. Anyone is free to submit how many entries they like, however, only one of your entries will be eligible to award you with hussar wings. That is, a single user cannot have more than one entry be in the top three.
If you wish to participate in the contest but are not yet an approved submitter, you can send in your comic to us as if it were a normal approval comic, and once approved you may post your entry to the subreddit.
Choosing the winner
After all of the entries have been submitted and the deadline has passed, the moderators will take a private vote to decide the first, second and third places. All entries will be ranked from 1 to 10, with the final score being the average of all votes. The winner of last month's contest will also be allowed to vote on this month's entries.
Once all of our votes are tallied, the full list of results will be posted in an Awards Ceremony thread. The artist who receives the highest score will be awarded the Hussar Wings, which they will keep around their username indefinitely, as well as a pair of Golden Wings next to their flair until the end of the next contest. The Hussar Wing recipient, or highest scoring non-mod if applicable, will also be able to vote with the mods on the entries for the next contest.
The artists with the second and third highest scores will receive the Silver and Bronze Wings, respectively, which will act in a similar manner. Fourth place will receive the old Mod's Choice Participation Ribbon.TM
Important
Before you submit, please check your comic against each point of the rules. Every contest we have multiple disqualifications (sometimes of fantastic comics) because some entrants don't read the rules properly before they start drawing.
As always, if you are not sure whether something you intend to do in your entry is compliant with the rules, you can message the mods and ask.
Any questions about the contest may be directed here.
Good luck and happy drawing!

2023.06.01 19:51 cuzimori The Community Tier List Review and Event CG Archive for Leo, Yingel, and Anatoli are Now Live!
Hello Reddit!
This is β for a change of pace β Cuzi from Team BethelFrankel, here to tell you that the ratings for Leo, Yingel, and Anatoli are now live on the
Community Tier List! Iβm sorry this took as long as it did. Fourmana was busy, the website was getting updated, and I was playing Honkai Star Rail. No excuses, just a sorry. As always, a βshould you pullβ section, followed by some
big updates in preparation for the upcoming anniversary.
Should You Pullβ¦
Leo - S-/S+ - Leoβs ceiling is nuts. In terms of raw damage, his
damage potential is one of β if not the β highest in Forest. This is an impressive feat, considering that Forest is an element with beasts such as Jeriah, Paloma and Areia. His main issue is a
large portion of this damage is gated behind requiring both Refinements and team support. This makes him a weird unit to rate; his R0 baseline performance undercuts Forestβs contested S-tier, with his damage scaling up to SS-tier levels the more e-tiles you feed him. The Goldie teams that could let him reach this potential, however, have hotly contested team slots. Jeriah, Naroxel, and Paloma all provide utility alongside their damage that makes them much more indispensable, leaving Leo and Gabriel to duke it out for the last slot in meta e-tile teams. Still, the fact heβs a top contender for that slot at all as a raw damage dealer speaks to his potential. He also fits decently well on other e-tile teams, such as those featuring Minos, Hiiro and Siobhan.
With Leo, youβll usually want to use his second Active once per Burst turn before dumping all his stacks into it on the final Burst turn. The gimmicks on his first Active are largely flavor text: the second and third effects are difficult to use outside longer stages, while the first effect is only useful in mobbing. All this said, there are a lot of minor optimizations you can do with him. Firstly, his second active is only useful if you can ensure around at least 3-4 Normals including diagonals; saving the stacks to benefit from his Equipmentβs Chain Combo buffs may be worthwhile if this is not the case. Second, the CD reduction on his first Active from getting 19 stacks only applies on cast; if you have enough enhanced tiles, saving his first Active to cast during his AT can let you gain maximum value from it. This room for minmaxing offers Leo some appreciated flexibility, cementing him as an excellent option on teams that can feed his appetite for e-tiles.
TL;DR: Pull if you want him and can offer the appropriate support, otherwise probably skip. Meta e-tile Forest has stiff competition for slots, but heβs as good an option as any to round it out after you have the core setup. Outside of e-tile teams, heβs usable but not great.
Yingel - A-/S at BT3 - Yingel is another addition to the βweird convertersβ weβve been seeing over the past few patches, but this time placing heavy emphasis on 1x1 content.
We did the math on her damage output and her damage leaves much to be desired, even for a sniper. Yingelβs kit is based around using special high-power Normals to stack a powerful defense ignoring buff. This sounds great in theory, but Yingelβs inability to normal attack in between her special Normals severely neuters her; it more or less means her Normal attack damage is the same as most other units, and makes her defense ignore stacking is too slow for it to ever realize its full potential.
Her conversion is similarly restrictive. 5 select tiles on a 2 CD is actually pretty incredible; the issue is her cross-shaped conversion pattern makes it incredibly janky to properly use and get contact tiles with outside of 1x1 content. Her conversion can be cloned by Axelia, but the high cloning cost and Axelia's other cloning synergies with units like Irridon limit its value.
Ultimately, Yingel is a combination of almost all the most powerful effects in all of Alchemy Stars nerfed in every way. This has its place β sheβs a pretty good captain for 1x1 content, and better than most of Thunderβs bog-standard snipers even at BT0. You just wonβt feel good using her over Luke, Reinhardt or R3 Wrath.
TL;DR: Probably Avoid. While Yingel certainly isnβt bad at BT3, there are significantly better options to go for at this level of investment. With the 2nd Anniversary being the next event, you donβt want to regret pulling on someone that may potentially collect dust on your account.
Anatoli - A - Anatoli is the welfare character for this patch and more or less a Forest Brock, offering niche but potentially valuable Aggro support and decent personal damage for mobbing. His active can also be used as a janky TP and gap closer if only selecting one target, which isβ¦ interesting, at the very least, and occasionally useful. However, his EQ is noticeably worse and the element heβs in has much less synergies for him. Forest also is home to some of the best mobbers in the game in Lenore, Migard, and Barton:DB, who are also just overall better units whose value doesnβt nosedive outside their niche. For a welfare, though, Anatoli is admirably effective at what he does β heβs a good investment if you donβt have one of Forestβs myriad mobbers, and will still see use in secondary or tertiary teams in content like Pandoraβs even once you do.
Finally, his art and animations are top-tier β heβll be a staple for those invested in the aesthetics metagame.
TL;DR: Build if you want. Heβs very niche, but excellent at it β whether thatβs important to you depends on your own account.
Tier List Updates
Weβve made some pretty big changes to the tier list, but none of them should be much of a surprise β itβs more or less just following through on things we had announced in the last update. The most important of these is we have new ratings now! The
(N) rating has been added to units whose value dramatically improves in niche situations, while the
(T) rating denotes units whose potential is locked behind requiring specific team setups.
Some background on this β the team is forever mentally scarred by Goldie, and I could honestly end the explanation here, refuse to elaborate, and leave. While that is partly a joke, Goldie is the unit that prompted us to think about how we tier things. Goldie is honestly pretty terrible outside dedicated e-tile teams that need very specific units, but said e-tile teams offer some of the best damage in the game. This unit design is a consequence of how the game has evolved β since the game has covered its bases for generalist units like Sinsa and Azure, charactersβ roles have become much more specific. The tier list, formulated in the days of yore, couldnβt really account for that. Weβre hoping these new ratings fix that.
This isnβt a perfect solution; the most glaring problem is how much it increases clutter in a tier list which already suffered from it. This forces us to be rather conservative about how we give these ratings, and weβve tried to limit it as much as possible to units where the improvement is fairly drastic or units who are the linchpin of entire strategies. That said, if you feel weβve missed someone weβre happy to get feedback about it! Weβre far from perfect, and constructive criticism is how we can improve.
Finally, weβve gotten rid of class ratings and nothing of value was really lost. They did more harm than good, and weβve replaced them with extremely brief descriptions of what the unit actually does. So all that saidβ¦ letβs delve into the units that got changed!
Goldie - SS(T) (is S-) β Behold, the woman behind the slaughter. Dedicated e-tile teams are incredible, and weβre letting Goldie eat the SS rating for almost all the units that dramatically improve due to it given the setup revolves around her.
Lilica - SS(T) (is S+) β Similar to Goldie, Lilica is taking the SS tiering for all shield synergies because theyβre ultimately centered around her. Lilica shield teams offer some of the highest damage in Fire and are surprisingly strong in Water too.
Minos - SS(T) (is S) β Minos already had a note marking him as SS in specific teams, so weβre just adjusting that to fit into the new system. Unlike a lot of other e-tile units he doesnβt depend on Goldie to get the number of e-tiles he needs to shine, so weβre marking him separately.
Tessa - S+(T) (is S-) β Tessaβs interaction with low-CD units is pretty potent. The most notable of these is Axelia + MBT Roy and to a lesser extent Leyn, who push her damage above a good chunk of Thunderβs long list of detonators.
Lucoa - S(T) (is A) β Lucoaβs buff is one of a kind and instrumental in making a lot of Active-based teams work.
May - A(T) (is C+) β May is pretty important for certain Giles nuke setups and serves as the only other good defensive option on Lenore+Jeno setups. That said, neither setup entirely revolves around her which limits her overall tiering.
Axelia - S+(T) (is S) β Axeliaβs ability to copy summons gives a lot of notable synergies even outside the aforementioned MBT Roy and Tessa. Of particular note is Reinhardt and Irridon, and her presence on whale Thunder teams is a testament of how much she improves its playability.
Brock - S(N) (is A-) β Brock is absolutely incredible in mobbing; his ability to aggro mob can trivialize waves and his Attack buff in these stages is very potent. The cherry on top is his importance on Giles nuke setups.
Nails - S(N) (is A-) β Nailsβ Bleed application is only really contested by Pasolo, and heβs almost
required on certain Elysium floors while also being strong on DoT weak enemies outside of that.
Chandra - A-(N) (is C+) β Chandra is amazing for Nightium farming, and the long-term value this provides is actually quite notable.
Giles - SS(N) (is S+) β Updated
calcs show that Gilesβ damage on shorter fights actually outdoes most of Fireβs S-tier even on 2x2; his ability to trivialize some stages by nuking them combined with his almost unrivaled 1x1 performance puts him at SS in the right situations.
Odi - S+(N) (is S-) β Odi has unrivaled Poison application, allowing her to clear some stages that even meta teams can struggle on.
Noah BT2 - S-(N) (is A-) β Noahβs Lilica synergies paired with the importance of her shield against certain specific damage checks gives her some valuable use cases, even if she usually is outdone by Philyshy.
Raphael - A(N) at BT0 (is B-), S+(N) at BT3 (is S-) β Raphaelβs oddball mix of resets, conversion, damage and healing lets her function in a way no other unit really can, and makes certain endgame content like BoredomShatterblast significantly easier.
Erica - A(N) (is B) β Erica is the only decent reset option in Thunder, so your hands are often tied on certain stages. Still, her Detonator chain and team buff means sheβs not deadweight.
Vivian MBT - A+(N) (is B-) β MBT Vivianβs raw conversion value makes her pretty powerful on the right stages. There is nothing quite like letting her paint boards yellow.
Keating - B+(N) (is C+) β Brock and Anatoli have shown that aggro is actually extremely valuable when the situation calls for it. However, Keating is hampered by their brutal cooldown combined with a lack of pre-emptive.
Zhong Xu - S(N) (is A+) β Zhong Xu was extremely disappointing for a unit that was meant to be Fireβs long-awaited select tile converter. That said, his push-pull synergies do make him worth using on some stages, especially alongside Charon and Brock.
Jane - A(N) (is C) β Janeβs ranking is almost entirely based on her ability to reliably auto-farm the penultimate Nightium stage with a specific setup. Outside of this, sheβs still pretty bad.
MBT Tina - SS(N) β MBT Tina
can be incredible β 4 pseudo-select tiles on 2CD alongside a very janky TP is nothing to scoff at. The issue is all this is contingent on being able to predict enemy movements and plan ahead with her tile placement; this isnβt easy nor reliable, but MBT Tina can even outdo Bethlehem in situations where itβs feasible.
Some Other Tier Shifts
Philishy - S (was S-) β Philyshy was initially downshifted during an era of content involving very high DPR checks. Abyss and Pandoraβs Box did a lot to change this, and both game modes seem tailored to reward Philyshyβs absurd healing output and additional utility through her global teleport. Sheβs more than worth the $1 you may pay for her; while you still arenβt going to use her in most content that has a DPS check, her value is nigh-unparalleled outside of it.
MBT Frostfire - S- (was A+) β Like Philyshy, the higher importance of mobbing makes Frostfire much more valuable β especially given her mobbing capabilities in Fire are only really rivaled by R3 Regina. Sheβs still extremely reliant on her MBT and is entirely eclipsed by Giles in bossing, but the gap between her and her Old Seal brethren is now far closer than it used to be.
Leona - S- (was A) β Leona is probably the unit that was the most underrated in the tier list for quite some time: her
1x1 and 2x2 numbers are competitive on both fronts with other S tier units. Sheβs still too reliant on Burn and good conversion to truly be S-tier, but a well-supported Leona can carry you a surprisingly long way.
Barbara A- β Despite her
overall numbers being better with the buff and the refinements, Barbara is still a unit that really doesnβt have much in terms of what she brings to the table. You could even argue her equipment buff being element-locked now makes her arguably worse! While that isnβt exactly true, it does go to show how decidedly underwhelming her improvements have been.
Vice R3 - S- (Was A) β R3 Viceβs performance is actually pretty incredible β her 1x1 performance outdoes most of Waterβs other snipers, and her mobbing is potent. Her main issue is the competition she faces in both cases. Vice: KS is your go-to option in 1x1 content, and base Vice canβt be used alongside her; meanwhile, Water mobbing is a tightly contested spot between Azure, Fia, Mu Yuebai, Fleur, and Connolly. Still, she is pretty good on her own merits, especially considering sheβs completely free.
Vic β While his overall ranking hasnβt changed, Vicβs description has been touched up. As it turns out, heβs one of if not
the best option for the 5th slot in Water against purely 1x1 content. His performance tanks with summons, heβs a miserable captain, and his 2x2 performance is laughable β but it was pertinent to mention he does have a pretty well-defined use case for those who like him enough to invest in him. In a way itβs fairly in-character for him: even though heβs good at what he does, heβll probably spend most of his time in your roster on the bench.
New and Future Content
I'd talked a bit about how tier lists are a pretty inherently flawed format earlier. We're doing our best to circumvent this β for all its failings, it
is both straightforward and intuitive. Still, especially as we get closer to Anniversary, the team has found that it might help to branch out in the content we make to help both new and returning players. Recently, you probably saw
Eclogia's beginner and advanced guides. If you haven't, you probably should! They're really well written and you can find them in the
reddit post here.
We also have a lot more in the works.
Trakan is working on an Ultimate Checklist β a super handy tool featuring an Aurorian Tracker, team building customization and even some Cloud Garden tools. Meanwhile,
Ivory is working on a polished Lilica guide β a handy walkthrough to help explain one of Alchemy Stars' most unique and nuanced units. This is just the start, too β hopefully there's a lot more to come in the future.
Event CG Archive
Mechhydra here!
I apologize for not showing up for the last eventβI got busy, and as a consequence didn't update the Archive for a while. Regardless, both of the past two events are now live for viewing. Stay tuned for the 2nd anniversary, where I'll be making my own standalone archive post for the first time in a long while!
Event Album Doc Drive Folder Community News
Sometimes I wonder if Fourmana has a secret vendetta against me. Maybe I wronged him in another life to have been stuck with writing this monster of an update. Perhaps my sins have caught up to me, and the gods commanded him to make me write this post in their displeasure. Weβll never know.
Jokes aside, itβs been an amazing time working with the team to push this update out, and Iβm glad Four doesnβt have to deal with it when he already has a lot on his plate β heβs already put overtime into this project. As always, our rankings are tentative and we both appreciate and rely on feedback, especially considering this is my first time making a write-up of this length for Alchemy Stars. The tier list is written for the community, and itβs helpful to hear what you want from it!
And with that, I shall lay my metaphorical pen down to rest. Until next time.

2023.06.01 18:38 dcom-in Large sequence models for software development activities
| Software isnβt created in one dramatic step. It improves bit by bit, one little step at a time β editing, running unit tests, fixing build errors, addressing code reviews, editing some more, appeasing linters, and fixing more errors β until finally it becomes good enough to merge into a code repository. Software engineering isnβt an isolated process, but a dialogue among human developers, code reviewers, bug reporters, software architects and tools, such as compilers, unit tests, linters and static analyzers. Today we describe DIDACT (ββDynamic Integrated Developer ACTivity), which is a methodology for training large machine learning (ML) models for software development. The novelty of DIDACT is that it uses the process of software development as the source of training data for the model, rather than just the polished end state of that process, the finished code. By exposing the model to the contexts that developers see as they work, paired with the actions they take in response, the model learns about the dynamics of software development and is more aligned with how developers spend their time. We leverage instrumentation of Google's software development to scale up the quantity and diversity of developer-activity data beyond previous works. Results are extremely promising along two dimensions: usefulness to professional software developers, and as a potential basis for imbuing ML models with general software development skills. DIDACT is a multi-task model trained on development activities that include editing, debugging, repair, and code review. We built and deployed internally three DIDACT tools, Comment Resolution (which we recently announced), Build Repair, and Tip Prediction, each integrated at different stages of the development workflow. All three of these tools received enthusiastic feedback from thousands of internal developers. We see this as the ultimate test of usefulness: do professional developers, who are often experts on the code base and who have carefully honed workflows, leverage the tools to improve their productivity? Perhaps most excitingly, we demonstrate how DIDACT is a first step towards a general-purpose developer-assistance agent. We show that the trained model can be used in a variety of surprising ways, via prompting with prefixes of developer activities, and by chaining together multiple predictions to roll out longer activity trajectories. We believe DIDACT paves a promising path towards developing agents that can generally assist across the software development process. A treasure trove of data about the software engineering process Googleβs software engineering toolchains store every operation related to code as a log of interactions among tools and developers, and have done so for decades. In principle, one could use this record to replay in detail the key episodes in the βsoftware engineering videoβ of how Googleβs codebase came to be, step-by-step β one code edit, compilation, comment, variable rename, etc., at a time. Google code lives in a monorepo, a single repository of code for all tools and systems. A software developer typically experiments with code changes in a local copy-on-write workspace managed by a system called Clients in the Cloud (CitC). When the developer is ready to package a set of code changes together for a specific purpose (e.g., fixing a bug), they create a changelist (CL) in Critique, Googleβs code-review system. As with other types of code-review systems, the developer engages in a dialog with a peer reviewer about functionality and style. The developer edits their CL to address reviewer comments as the dialog progresses. Eventually, the reviewer declares βLGTM!β (βlooks good to meβ), and the CL is merged into the code repository. Of course, in addition to a dialog with the code reviewer, the developer also maintains a βdialogβ of sorts with a plethora of other software engineering tools, such as the compiler, the testing framework, linters, static analyzers, fuzzers, etc. An illustration of the intricate web of activities involved in developing software: small actions by the developer, interactions with a code reviewer, and invocations of tools such as compilers. A multi-task model for software engineering DIDACT utilizes interactions among engineers and tools to power ML models that assist Google developers, by suggesting or enhancing actions developers take β in context β while pursuing their software-engineering tasks. To do that, we have defined a number of tasks about individual developer activities: repairing a broken build, predicting a code-review comment, addressing a code-review comment, renaming a variable, editing a file, etc. We use a common formalism for each activity: it takes some State (a code file), some Intent (annotations specific to the activity, such as code-review comments or compiler errors), and produces an Action (the operation taken to address the task). This Action is like a mini programming language, and can be extended for newly added activities. It covers things like editing, adding comments, renaming variables, marking up code with errors, etc. We call this language DevScript. The DIDACT model is prompted with a task, code snippets, and annotations related to that task, and produces development actions, e.g., edits or comments. This state-intent-action formalism enables us to capture many different tasks in a general way. Whatβs more, DevScript is a concise way to express complex actions, without the need to output the whole state (the original code) as it would be after the action takes place; this makes the model more efficient and more interpretable. For example, a rename might touch a file in dozens of places, but a model can predict a single rename action. An ML peer programmer DIDACT does a good job on individual assistive tasks. For example, below we show DIDACT doing code clean-up after functionality is mostly done. It looks at the code along with some final comments by the code reviewer (marked with βhumanβ in the animation), and predicts edits to address those comments (rendered as a diff). Given an initial snippet of code and the comments that a code reviewer attached to that snippet, the Pre-Submit Cleanup task of DIDACT produces edits (insertions and deletions of text) that address those comments. The multimodal nature of DIDACT also gives rise to some surprising capabilities, reminiscent of behaviors emerging with scale. One such capability is history augmentation, which can be enabled via prompting. Knowing what the developer did recently enables the model to make a better guess about what the developer should do next. An illustration of history-augmented code completion in action. A powerful such task exemplifying this capability is history-augmented code completion. In the figure below, the developer adds a new function parameter (1), and moves the cursor into the documentation (2). Conditioned on the history of developer edits and the cursor position, the model completes the line (3) by correctly predicting the docstring entry for the new parameter. An illustration of edit prediction, over multiple chained iterations. In an even more powerful history-augmented task, edit prediction, the model can choose where to edit next in a fashion that is historically consistent . If the developer deletes a function parameter (1), the model can use history to correctly predict an update to the docstring (2) that removes the deleted parameter (without the human developer manually placing the cursor there) and to update a statement in the function (3) in a syntactically (and β arguably β semantically) correct way. With history, the model can unambiguously decide how to continue the βediting videoβ correctly. Without history, the model wouldnβt know whether the missing function parameter is intentional (because the developer is in the process of a longer edit to remove it) or accidental (in which case the model should re-add it to fix the problem). The model can go even further. For example, we started with a blank file and asked the model to successively predict what edits would come next until it had written a full code file. The astonishing part is that the model developed code in a step-by-step way that would seem natural to a developer: It started by first creating a fully working skeleton with imports, flags, and a basic main function. It then incrementally added new functionality, like reading from a file and writing results, and added functionality to filter out some lines based on a user-provided regular expression, which required changes across the file, like adding new flags. Conclusion DIDACT turns Google's software development process into training demonstrations for ML developer assistants, and uses those demonstrations to train models that construct code in a step-by-step fashion, interactively with tools and code reviewers. These innovations are already powering tools enjoyed by Google developers every day. The DIDACT approach complements the great strides taken by large language models at Google and elsewhere, towards technologies that ease toil, improve productivity, and enhance the quality of work of software engineers. 2023.06.01 18:16 Peterwin The character hand bug really bothers me. Is there a way to fix it?
I feel like I'm going crazy and it bothers me so much, but I don't know what to do about it.
Based on the level of camera zoom, characters' hands essentially lose all their fidelity. For Blood Elves casting spells, for example, they're moving their fingers around and it's very animated; however, if you zoom your camera all the way out, the character's hands turn to Lego hands. The fingers don't move and the hand is like a character from the PS1 Resident Evil games.
Here's a gif trying to show you what I mean:
https://imgur.com/a/JwlqTnE The gif starts with my camera zoomed all the way out. You can see that the hand moves like a Lego hand; it's all one piece. When I zoom in one step, the hand gains all its animation. Fingers are moving, it looks very natural.
The only way I've found to correct this is to zoom your camera in to a point where the hands look normal. For a Blood Elf/Void Elf (or male Dracthyr), it's manageable. You just zoom all the way out and then zoom in one time; however, for other races, you have to be MUCH closer for the hands to look normal.
I've also tried setting a custom zoom distance so that I cannot zoom my camera out to the point where the hands break, but WoW doesn't really like custom camera settings very much.
Has anyone else experienced this? Does it bother you as much as it does me?
Am I a lunatic?
EDIT: I figured it out! It's the View Distance slider. I had it turned down to 5. I turned it up to 7 and it fixed the hand issues. I'm so happy!
So if anyone else has issues with the hands doing this, turn up your View Distance!

2023.06.01 18:03 si1verb100d Friends for Games? (PC/tabletop/switch/Etc.)
Hello! My friends and I moved here at different times (spanning almost 2-3 years I believe) but do not know many people in the area. We have been perusing different group sites but are not ALWAYS super outgoing and good at introducing ourselves in social situations so I was wondering if anyone here would like to perhaps join a new discord server or if there is already an active one that is used present day as a kind of way to take out the anxiety of in person introductions if that makes sense? (or another type of group also works!)
We are 24(F)(me) 26(M) and 26(F).
All into table top and PC games (I met them online and live with them now(I know its,,, weird)) All of us love trying new food spots/ making new things to try.
LGBT+ membeallies, I love tarrot and 'witchy aesthetic' things. all love animals (we have 2 cats and a dog)
Not SUPER athletic but depending on the activity would be willing to try
I love roller-skating but have not done it in YEARS

Hi all! I have been applying to co-ops and internships in the Boston area as well as remote positions for a long time now, with no such luck. Just rejects left and right, and Iβve had a large amount of people read over my resume, including some advisors at my school who claim itβs ok. Any advice? I feel like iβm going crazy. For context, applying to any job in the Compsci Field, ie: tech support, software engineering, IT, etc.
I am still a student by the way, and I have been looking for a 6 month co-op / internship position.

2023.06.01 16:49 Sepidy Avoid my 7 mistakes when you want to animate in Figma!
| Don't make my mistakes! TL;DR: There is a summary at the end. This is a list of 7 mistakes I made when I wanted to animate in Figma. One of my friends who is an awesome designer taught me how to avoid it and gave me his tips for them and I summarized his tips in this post and I hope you find it valuable too. I wort both the wrong and right approaches and I added Gifs for each item for more explanation. I added the tip in a photo! 1. Not naming the layers correctly! It might sound irrelevant but naming your layers matters a lot in animating. The truth is that the smart animation is not THAT smart and it actually works by simple rules to detect how to animate things. One of the most important rules that it follows is layer names. Figma looks at the shapes with the same names and detects them as one shape, and starts to animate based on their changes in each frame. #: Letβs see a simple example: In this example, we want to animate the color and border radios change of a rectangle. What you shouldnβt do We have a rectangle on two frames. In the first frame, we make it Magenta and in the second frame we make it Cyan and we will round the corners. We name the first rectangle shape 1 and we name the second rectangle shape 2. Watch what will happen: Mistake Number 1: Shapes with different names β Animation doesnβt work properly As you can see instead of animating the shapes will fade away. What you should do Now we name them both the same thing now watch what will happen. Tip Number 1: Shapes should have the same name β Animation works properly As you can see it is animated perfectly now. If you forgot to name your layers correctly and then remember it what can you do? A cool trick for renaming multiple layers at the same time is selecting them on the layer panel or with βCTRβ+ βFβ and then after selection using the hotkey βCRLβ + βRβ to rename them at the same time. Renaming multiple layers at the same time using βCTRL+Rβ One other cool thing that I learned from Hisham was to use the βquestion markβ icon to find the short keys. https://preview.redd.it/7wn8j4vfye3b1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=ab4be9f8b9713f830d7130c09af7b0f214d0ba5a 2. Not paying attention to grouping! As we said earlier Figma pays attention to the layer names. Figma sees groups as layers so their naming matters. Items within a group will be animated together as a single unit. This means that your groups should be the same in both frames that you are animating. You canβt animate certain elements without a group in one frame and within a group in another frame. #2: Letβs see a simple example: In this example we want to create a move in and out animation by a set of elements. What you shouldnβt do We have a set of elements that arenβt in a group on the first frame. In the second frame, we want to change their position altogether, and to make this easier we group the elements and move them. Now see what will happen when we animate. Mistake Number 2: Grouping objects in only one frame β Animation doesnβt work properly As you can see Figma canβt detect these shapes are similar to the previous shapes and it sees this new group as a new object. Thatβs why we see a fade instead of a moving animation. What you should do Now we move each shape separately without making it a group. Now watch what will happen: Tip Number 2: Groups are separate objects, donβt use grouping in only one frame, and keep the object states the way it is in both frames β Animation works properly As you can see the animation works perfectly. Read this if you are a nerdπ€: What will happen if we group it, move it, and then ungroup it again? Letβs see: What will happen if we group objects, move the group, and then ungroup it? β Animation works properly As you can see the animation is working perfectly because Figma can detect that the shapes on both frames are the same and it seems that the group hasnβt existed at all. What will happen if the shapes were in a group in the first place? Whatever state they are in (in or out of a group) they should be in the same state on the second frame as well. So if they are in a group first in the second frame they should be in a group as well. https://preview.redd.it/ohfk86ehye3b1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=346a335afe890455e623e8fb0694607316b2eeb3 3. Ignoring shape types! If you paid enough attention to the Example #1 you would have noticed that we didnβt use a circle for the second frame we rounded the corners of the rectangle to get that animation. As you know smart animation remembers our actions on the canvas and replays it later. So what would happen if we havenβt rounded the corners and have used a circle instead of a rectangle in the first place? #3: Letβs see a simple example: In this example we want to animate a rectangle to a circle. What you shouldnβt do As you probably guessed there is no animation involved in changing the shape. The rectangle fades away and a circle will appear and it doesnβt matter if we name them the same or different. Mistake Number 3: Use different shape types even with the same name β Animation doesnβt work properly What you should do Use the same shapes with the correct naming and round the corners of a rectangle to get a circle shape. https://preview.redd.it/y2mez2jiye3b1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=48b747c10a0aaa4c0a8a5107eae95d274ab0b1ce 4. Messing around with shapesβ anchor points! To continue from the previous point if we change the anchor points of a shape Figma detects that as a new shape no matter if the name is the same and it canβt animate it perfectly. It fades from the previous shape to the new shape. π€If the change was subtle or the duration of the animation was short Figma still fades things but it is hard to detect and it might sound like the animation is working. #4: Letβs see a simple example: In this example we are changing the anchor points of a rectangle. What you shouldnβt do In this example we changed the anchor points of the rectangle on the second frame and as you can see although the layer name is the same the animation is not working properly. Mistake Number 4: Making changes in shape anchor points β Animation doesnβt work properly What you should do Donβt mess around with the anchor points until Figma releases an update for this!π So to sum up a more general rule from points 3 and 4: the shape and all its anchor points should be the same in 2 frames in order for the animation to work. https://preview.redd.it/4g4k6pljye3b1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=5e98066b6198b672be3df6b21e59d3ea42843b0b 5. Ignoring layer order! Figma pays attention to the order of layers and it will animate based on that. #5: Letβs see a simple example: In this example, we have 2 rectangles and we are changing their border-radius in the second frame. What you shouldnβt do If we change the order of the layers, this will happen: Mistake Number 5: Layer order is not the same in both Frames β Animation doesnβt work properly As you can see the animation is laggy and it fades away because we changed the layer orders. What you should do Now we keep the order the same in both layers. Now watch that the animation is happening smoothly. Tip Number 5: Keep the layer orders the same in all Frames β Animation works properly β Gif By This might sound so simple but when you are doing bigger animations it comes so handy. We have one example of it in the FigChallenge challenges for the spinning carousel challenge by Adrian. If you didnβt pay attention to layer orders your animation wouldnβt look like the tutorial. https://preview.redd.it/163awiokye3b1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=20fa2ecf511b88f089c3dfc7fa68f78270ac24e7 6. Moving the layer outside the frame While you are animating when you are changing the location of a shape make sure that its layer remains in the frame. Even if your shape is completely outside the frame and it is not visible it still needs to be on the frame layer. This one happened to me many times! While you are animating you might accidentally move the shape outside the frame. To avoid this hold the βSPACEβ key while moving your object. #6: Letβs see a simple example: In this example, we want to create an animation in which our rectangle comes from outside of the frame to the frame. What you shouldnβt do If we donβt hold space while moving the rectangle it goes outside the frame. You can check it on the layer panels as well. When we animate the animation doesnβt work and instead of moving objects we will see a fade! Mistake Number 6: Accidentally moving the shape outside the Frame β Animation doesnβt work properly What you should do If we hold the βSPACEβ key while we are moving the rectangle remains in the frame. (You can check it on the layer panels as well.) Now you will see the animation works perfectly! Tip 6: Keep your shapes inside the Frame by holding SPACE β Animation works properly https://preview.redd.it/7b6dx09mye3b1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=2556cada2ed723b45893509823ca3d89600d029a 7. Not paying attention to the animation type! If you paid attention to all the above points and still your animation doesnβt act like what you see in the tutorial it might be because of the difference between the type of animation you used. This subject is an advanced one and it deserves its own post. I'll write about it soon. Summary! If you like to see a more complete and neat version of this here is the link to the article. submitted by Sepidy to FigmaDesign [link] [comments] |

Miles Morales returns for the next chapter of the Oscar winning Spider-Verse saga, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. After reuniting with Gwen Stacy, Brooklynβs full-time, friendly neighborhood Spider-Man is catapulted across the Multiverse, where he encounters the Spider Society, a team of Spider-People charged with protecting the Multiverseβs very existence. But when the heroes clash on how to handle a new threat, Miles finds himself pitted against the other Spiders and must set out on his own to save those he loves most. Anyone can wear the mask β itβs how you wear it that makes you a hero.
After a grueling five-year-long wait, Marvel fans everywhere will finally be able to return to the animated multiverse with Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. The upcoming sequel's predecessor requires no explanation, as Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse not only ensnared audiences and critics alike but also caught a prestigious Oscar win with a Best Animated Feature award. With "New York's one and only Spider-Man," Miles Morales (Shameik Moore), now becoming a household name, fans of the first film eagerly awaited the day they could see young Miles swing into the Spider-Verse again.
Thankfully, the wait is almost finally over, as Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will return to screens soon. This time Miles will not only be reunited with Gwen Stacey (Hailee Steinfeld) and Peter B. Parker (Jake Johnson) but he'll also be introduced to an entire multiversal society of Spider-people created and led by a particularly pessimistic variant of Spider-Man 2099 (Oscar Isaac). Though some of the other variants in this secretive organization view Miles as a nuisance more than anything else, they'll have to learn to put those apprehensions aside if they hope to save the multiverse from an all-new terrifying threat. As the release date for the sequel to one of the most celebrated Spider-Man films ever made crawls closer and closer, here is precisely where and how you can watch Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse when it premieres this Summer.

This is especially true for many superhero films, which are often tied directly to specific streaming services. Disney+ and HBO Max - now rebranded as MAX - often house the new streaming releases for the MCU and DCU respectively, usually releasing anywhere between 1β3 months after theatrical release. However, with a film like Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, the situation is slightly different given Sony's lack of a dedicated streaming service, here's where to watch and stream Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse online.
When Is the Release Date for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse?
When Is the Release Date for Spider-Man: Across thMiles, Gwen, Peter, and several dozen other Spider-people will be swinging into action when Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse premieres on Friday, June 2nd, 2023. This almost undoubtedly gives Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and The Flash a run for their money as the biggest superhero movie event of the Summer. Spider-Verse?
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse had its world premiere at the Regency Village Theatre on May 30, 2023, and is scheduled for theatrical release in the United States on June 2, delayed from an initial October 2022 date because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Where To Watch Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Online:
As of now, the only way to watch Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is to head out to a movie theater when it premieres on June 2, 2023. You can find a local showing on Fandango.
Otherwise, youβll just have to wait for it to become available to rent or purchase on digital platforms like Amazon, Vudu, YouTube or Apple, or become available to stream on Netflix.
How to Watch Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse
There's been no official announcement regarding Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse's streaming release date, though we know it will eventually be released on Netflix, rather than Disney+ or HBO Max.
In terms of which of the streaming giants Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will be released on, Netflix will house the film upon its streaming debut. While again, Sony does not have its own dedicated streaming service, a deal was struck in 2021 between the studio and Netflix. The deal, stating that Netflix would stream Sony's films after theatrical release, was penned for 5 years meaning Across the Spider-Verse is part of the arrangement.
While Sony's Spider-Man content is also streaming on Disney+, due to the collaborations between Sony and Marvel Studios in recent years, Across the Spider-Verse will be a Netflix release. While the deal struck between Marvel Studios and Sony may extend to this film, Disney+ is only allowed to begin streaming Sony's Spider-Man releases upon their release on Netflix. As a result, Netflix will be the first streaming service that Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will be available on after its theatrical release.
Because itβs airing on FX, you can of course fire up Into the Spider-Verse via FX Now. But in addition, the animated flick is streaming on both fubo (which offers a free trial and has cord-cutting plans starting at $74.99/month; sign up here) and DirecTV (which also offers a free trial and has cord-cutting plans starting at $64.99/month.
Is Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse in Theaters?
Not only was Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse the subject of rave reviews, but it also pulled in some gargantuan levels of cash at the international box office, with a final tally that quadrupled the film's ninety-million dollar budget. With incredible success like that, it's only natural that Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse would also be taking advantage of a theatrical release. That is the case, as the upcoming film will be exclusively available in theaters when it premieres on June 2nd, 2023.
When Will Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Be on Streaming?
The Spider-Man franchise is in a pretty interesting place regarding streaming. The various films of Sony's franchise have typically been scattered across multiple services. That said, following a historic deal between Sony and Disney, the many stories of Peter Parker and beyond are now available on Disney+. This includes the original Sam Raimi trilogy, the first Amazing Spider-Man film, and, starting mid-May, Spider-Man: Homecoming and Venom. Notably absent from the Disney-streaming platform so far are The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Spider-Man: Far From Home, Venom: Let There Be Carnage, Spider-Man: No Way Home, Morbius, and most significant of all, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
Some of the films are not currently available on the service because Sony has pre-existing partnerships with Starz, as that's where most of the absent films are available to stream. That is except for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, which is instead only streaming on Fubo TV and FX Now.
If Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse comes to Disney+ before Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse's theatrical run concludes, that would make the House of Mouse's service a likely contender for a streaming release. However, Sony has also historically partnered with Netflix for streaming releases. Up until recently, that's where Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse was available to stream, and Sony still brings their other big releases to the service, like Bullet Train and The Woman King.
When will Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse be streaming on Netflix?
Sony Animationβs big new Spider-Man movie is about to hit theaters and will be headed to Netflix (at least in the United States) later this year. For a prediction as to when and a bit more about the new movie, hereβs what you need to know.
As we covered in 2021, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will be headed to Netflix as the service gets both Sonyβs animation and live-action content via a first window deal struck in April 2021.
The deal stipulates that all Sony theatrical movies come to Netflix in the first window, which at a minimum, is 120 days after its theatrical release date. If it arrives exactly 120 days after, itβll be streaming from September 30th, 2023.
With that said, given how big this movie is, we may see it release a few weeks after the fact. Either way, we expect the movie to be available between late September and November 2023.
Will Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Be Streaming On Netflix?
Yes, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is coming to Netflix approximately in December 2023.
In 2021, Sony and Netflix signed a five-year deal that gave the latter exclusive first-pay-window U.S. streaming rights for Sony Pictures titles after their theatrical and home entertainment windows. Fans can expect to watch Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse on Netflix six months after the filmβs theatrical release, thus in December 2023. The date seems reasonable considering that Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse dropped on Netflix on June 26, 2019, six months after its U.S. release on December 14, 2018. The pay-one window usually begins about nine months after a filmβs theatrical release, but it might start earlier in particular cases.
Will Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Be On HBO Max?
No, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will not be on HBO Max since itβs not a Universal Pictures movie. Last year, the company released its films in theaters and on the streamer on the same day. However, they now allow a 45-day window between the theatrical release and the streaming release.
Will Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Be Streaming On Disney+?
Yes, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is also coming to Disney Plus approximately in 2025.
Once the pay-one window runs its time and Netflixβs exclusive rights expire, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will be available on Disney Plus. The pay-one window might last as long as 18 months, which means it will be a while before Disney Plus subscribers can watch the much-anticipated sequel. Unlike in other countries, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse isnβt yet available on the Disney-owned streamer in the U.S.
American fans will have to wait until 2024 to watch Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and at least until 2025 for its sequel. We will update this post once there is an official Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Disney Plus release date.
Is Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Available On Hulu?
Viewers are saying that they want to view the new Marvel's animation movie Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse on Hulu. Unfortunately, this is not possible since Hulu currently does not offer any of the free episodes of this series streaming at this time. It will be exclusive to the MTV channel, which you get by subscribing to cable or satellite TV services. You will not be able to watch it on Hulu or any other free streaming service.

You can also rent or buy the movie on iTunes or Google Play. You can also watch it on-demand or on a streaming app available on your TV or streaming device if you have cable.
When Will Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Be on DVD and Blu-ray?
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will likely be coming to DVD and Blu-ray around the same time as the streaming release. With theatrical films, on average, coming to streaming sooner than ever (usually ninety days after theatrical release), we'll likely see Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse get a DVD, and Blu-ray release no later than Fall 2023.

What is Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse About?
Returning with many of your favorite characters, including Gwen Stacy/Spider-Woman, Peter B. ParkeSpider-Man, and of course Miles Morales as our primary Spider-Man, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is set one year after the events of the previous film. Miles (Shameik Moore) is coming into his own as Spider-Man when he is unexpectedly approached by Spider-Gwen (Hailee Steinfeld) with an extraordinary opportunity. Does Miles want to help a team of Spider-People, led by Spider-Man 2099 (Oscar Isaac) protect the multiverse from the terrifying threat of a man known as The Spot (Jason Schwartzman)?
Obviously, Miles is going to say yes, setting him up for an adventure that will expand this movieβs concept of the multiverse in every possible way. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse promises tons of new characters and worlds, without losing sight of what people have come to love about this particular Spider-franchise.
Miles Morales has become a massively popular Spider-Man, and you can be certain heβll be at the center of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verseβs chaotic blend of action, comedy, comic book aesthetics, and large-scale science fiction. It seems more likely than not that Across the Spider-Verse will be the biggest animated release of 2023.

2023.06.01 16:13 OD_Dabber Help animating a logo
| Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask this as I am still a complete noob with this AI stuff, but figured you would be the right group to ask. I have a logo of a butterfly for work that they asked me to animate into a gif (with an insane deadline of a few hours on top of a bunch of other work), and I was thinking there has to be some sort of way to use AI to take the graphic and make it simply flap itβs wings. I have access to the SVG as well as pretty much all file types for the icon. If anyone could simply point me in the right direction or recommend tools for me to use that would be incredible. Again sorry for being so uneducated here! I have attached a copy of the image to give a better idea. Thanks in advance! submitted by OD_Dabber to StableDiffusion [link] [comments] |

2023.06.01 16:03 FelicitySmoak_ Song Of The Day Discussion : "Jam"
| "Jam" July 13, 1992 - 4th single from Dangerous Video Written by Michael Jackson, RenΓ© Moore, Bruce Swedien & Teddy Riley. Produced by Michael Jackson, Teddy Riley, Bruce Swedien & Rene Moore. Rap by Heavy D https://preview.redd.it/ejk3z6usy93b1.jpg?width=238&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3e08fdb47f36d621a131172063097044df0d7c80 ""Jam" is the opening track on Dangerous, Michael's 8th studio album. It's a new jack swing song whose bridge features a rap verse performed by Heavy D (of the group Heavy D & the Boyz), though he's not credited on the album. "Jam was a track that Michael had the idea for. He told me to see what I could do with it so I took it and created some more instruments and reproduced the record β and he loved it. Thatβs the way it worked a lot of the time. Heβd come in with an idea and Iβd flesh it out in the studio. He bought it to me as a DAT, and he told me there were things he wanted done, and I did them. It was my idea to get the rapper Heavy D to perform on there as well. He was Michaelβs favorite rapper at the time - Producer Teddy Riley in an interview with MusicRadar, 2021 https://preview.redd.it/x5gt5rjuy93b1.jpg?width=225&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=927c6a0ad1ba4fa9c5bd0cc4be9133fb66bdcff0 The single peaked at #26 on the Billboard Hot 100, #3 on the R&B chart & #4 on the Dance chart. It reached #13 in the UK. It only made the top 10 in France, Spain & New Zealand. The song re-entered the UK Singles Chart in 2006, reaching # 22 "Jam" was generally well received by music critics. Larry Flick from Billboard wrote that the song "is fortified with brassy horns, a funky bass line, and a rap cameo by Heavy D. Jackson's signature squeals and whoops are at home within an urgent groove that seems to goad him to the point of catharsis." Andrew Smith from Melody Maker described it as "lean" and "spikey". Pan-European magazine Music & Media commented, "Get in the groove with the most funky track on the Dangerous album." An editor from People Magazine felt that Jackson "captures the outer style but not the energizing spirit of hip-hop." https://i.redd.it/wr1jpmdi1a3b1.gif Alan Light from Rolling Stone praised the song, adding that it "addresses Jackson's uneasy relationship to the world and reveals a canny self-awareness that carries the strongest message on Dangerous." He wrote further, "Though it initially sounds like a simple, funky dance vehicle, Jackson's voice bites into each phrase with a desperation that urges us to look deeper. He is singing as "false prophets cry of doom" and exhorts us to "live each day like it's the last." The chorus declares that the miseries of the world "ain't too much stuff" to stop us from jamming. To Jackson, who insists that he comes truly alive only onstage, the ability to "Jam" is the sole means to find "peace within myself," and this hope rings more sincere than the childlike wishes found in the ballads." Ted Shaw from The Windsor Star noted that Jackson's voice is treated electronically on the track, "which establishes the thematic thrust in lyrics that call for brotherly love." https://preview.redd.it/uu2wfjgk1a3b1.jpg?width=300&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=58cc12a5658a790f2f4410eebf80acf0f4291923 In an 2016 retrospective review, Chris Lacy from Albumism said that on the song, Jackson "explains that jamming (the joy of music and dance) is his preferred method of temporarily escaping worldly issues." AllMusic editor Stephen Thomas Erlewine wrote that there's a lot to be said for professional craftsmanship at its peak and he called this song a blistering highlight on the album. Adam Gilham of Sputnikmusic described the song as a perfect album opener and rated it "5/5". https://preview.redd.it/nbf1dl0m1a3b1.jpg?width=187&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=176369502edf9876b8e46c7a0d7325ddb119ebd9 The music video of the song featured NBA basketball legend Michael Jordan. The song was also featured on the Chicago Bulls (Jordan's team at the time)'s 1992 NBA Championship video "Untouchabulls" and was also used in many promotional ads of the NBA in the said season. It was directed by David Kellogg and was filmed on April 20, 1992, in Chicago, Illinois. The music video premiered on FOX on June 19, 1992, at 9:30 p.m. https://i.redd.it/hakom3qo1a3b1.gif Originally, Michael had asked Vincent Paterson to write a script for "Jam". Sadly, Sony was not prepared to provide the budget for a "crazy" project, as the choreographer himself described it. Playing the role of a mad king, Michael was to have performed in a castle, amid dancers & animals that transformed themselves into fantastic beasts. A beautiful woman, at a window, was to have leapt out and changed into a bird as Michael passes by. Some of Paterson's ideas, notably a scene with a spiral stairway, were used for the "Blood on the Dance Floor" video The short film takes place within an abandoned indoor basketball court, where Jackson teaches Jordan how to dance, and in return, Jordan teaches Jackson how to play basketball. Special effects have Jackson throwing a basketball through a window and scoring in the hoop in the opposite room, as well as Jackson scoring by tossing the ball behind him and kicking the ball into the hoop with his heel. The extended versions of the video include Jackson teaching Jordan how to do the moonwalk. The rap groups Kris Kross and Naughty by Nature made a cameo appearance, as does Heavy D https://i.redd.it/fe8fjelq1a3b1.gif https://i.redd.it/ur6t9qxr1a3b1.gif https://i.redd.it/3f48tf5t1a3b1.gif The video was included on Dangerous β The Short Films and Michael Jackson's Vision Jackson performed "Jam" as the opening number throughout his Dangerous World Tour. He also performed it at the Royal Brunei Concert in 1996, which turned out to be the last live performance of the song. A portion of the song was performed at the start of the 1993 Super Bowl halftime show. The song was prepared for the This Is It concert series, with a snippet of "Another Part of Me" https://i.redd.it/z2lw9klv1a3b1.gif ESPN.com caught up with director David Kellogg and producer Phil Rose in 2013 to discussthe filming process The single was re-released in 2006 as part of Jackson's Visionary: The Video Singles collection campaign, and it was remixed to the Cirque du Soleil's Immortal World Tour, releasing that remix on the soundtrack album. "Jam" appears as the second track on the 2009 This Is It compilation album. https://i.redd.it/e42fjf2x1a3b1.gif submitted by FelicitySmoak_ to MichaelJackson [link] [comments] |
2023.06.01 15:54 fit_to_burst Am I asexual or is it something else?
Ever since my egg cracked and I realized I am trans, I've been exploring my emotions and identity a lot more. Through introspection and retrospection, I've realized that I am very much aromantic, and I have no doubts about that anymore. Upon coming to that realization, I decided to watch Jaiden Animations' video where she discusses being aro/ace and that got me thinking about sexuality and where I lie in that regard.
For a while, I've thought of myself as pansexual. I don't really have any preference for any gender identity, and lots of the time, that kind of thing just doesn't matter to me at all when it comes to aesthetic attraction. As such, I figured I fell into the "gender blind" category, and I never really looked much deeper than that until now.
After a lengthy morning of internal debate, I've come up with a list of reasons why I think I might be ace and I'll talk about the main reason why I'm skeptical. Any input at all is appreciated!
Points in favor of asexuality:
- I've never really cared much for any part of a relationship or desired a relationship for any reason. Part of this is because I am aromantic, but I've realized recently that not even the idea of sex really excites me all that much. It just has really awkward vibes to me.
- I feel no intimate attraction to anybody at all. I occasionally feel a sort of aesthetic attraction when I see someone who fits "my type," but I've never really looked at anybody and thought that I'd like to be intimate with them or anything. Furthermore, the whole idea of deciding you want to have sex with someone solely based on looks has always come off as awkward or even creepy to me; I've never felt that impulse, and it never really registered with me that other people actually do. I always thought it was exaggeration or meant for the sake of humor or something.
- When I'm in optimal condition, my sex drive is practically nonexistent. I've found that I only ever really feel "in the mood" as a way of entertaining myself when I have nothing to do. Often times it's only when I'm bored, doomscrolling, and experiencing a lack of recent social activity that I ever do things like masturbation, and oftentimes it's just a way for me to cope with anxiety or loneliness. There have been entire months where I consistently get the proper amount of social interaction and feelings of fulfillment and I just never feel sexual urges at all.
- This is kind of a continuation of the last point, but in the months following my coming out to my family and their general acceptance of my identity, I felt no urges at all. This leads me to believe that my sex drive effectively exists solely as a coping mechanism for stress and anxiety.
- I feel aesthetic attraction for sure, sometimes even enough to feel aroused, but I've never felt any intimate feelings based on this, nor have I really ever had a significant desire to actually have sex with someone based off of it. I don't know a good way to word it properly and I'm kinda struggling with trying to explain it. It's like hearing a song and deciding you like it without caring for the lyrics or the artist or anything other than the general sound or vibe of the music.
- I've always found masturbation to be a bit of a chore. It's never something I want to do and oftentimes I feel somewhat disturbed or even ashamed when I do it. When I'm done, the first thought in my mind is something like "thank god that's over and I can focus on something else."
These are the things that have led me to believe that I could be ace. Now I'll move on to the most significant factor that keeps me skeptical.
I would be lying if I said I never felt excitement about the idea of sex. I would not say for a moment that I am unable to experience sexual urges, or even that I feel no attraction to anyone or anything at all. I have browsed pornographic content many times in the past, and there was even a period where I had something of an addiction. Granted, this was during a period of my life where I was basically completely shut off from the world both socially and emotionally, so that may have had something to do with it. I don't really want to go into too much more detail, but this fact alone is what's keeping me questioning.
Like I said earlier, any input at all is welcome. I figure you folks are probably the most qualified people to speak on this subject and offer advice!

2023.06.01 15:15 Accomplished-Let3917 Export Photoshop artboards to video
I have made an photoshop project with three different artboards. Each artboard is a different dimension of the same ad-visual. (1920x1080, 1080x1080 and 1200x628). I use smart object, that way i only have to change the title and logo once, and it changes it automatically for all artboards. I have also animated the artboards using the timeline feature. But i can't seem to export the artboards to either GIF or video. In fact, i can export to GIF, but the GIFs are just stills. I've already tried the option "Export layers into files" but that doesn't work either because it changes the positionings of the object's i've animated.
Is there a way to fix this, or is there another way to make this process of making ad's more efficient? (i need both jpeg's and mp4/GIFs for each ad)
