EDEN HORSE Website launched!
Are you ready to start your journey along with 1st Generation Dam NFT public sale coming soon?
★EDEN HORSE Website->
https://edenhorse.net ★EDEN HORSE Discord:
https://discord.com/invite/kch7PqDTAq ①EDEN HORSE Project
EDEN HORSE is an NFT crypto horse racing project that based on real racehorse.
②EDEN HORSE Roadmap
📷
Starting with VIP Pre-sale of 300 1st Generation Dam NFTs (3 families) for Eden Loop Holders,
the total distribution volume in year 2023 will be 1200 1st Generation Dam NFTs (12 families) around end of March.
1200 2nd Generation Racehorse NFT, derived from the 1st Generation Dam NFT and breedin determined by 1st Generation Dam NFT family's DAO system will be on sale from mid-April.
Pony can be acquired via in-game payments and events. Pony is a game asset, not an NFT.
GOG NFT, acquired via Discord event, will be minted along with the 1st Generation Dam NFT.
Our Discord Server has been launched on February 6, and our fam (ELT holders, players, families) will decide which sire and which racehorse to race, League upgrade tournament etc.
③EDEN HORSE Concept
📷
The tournament settings of EDEN HORSE can be modified in real time depending on the player's choice.
There are 3 types of surface and weather, 4 types of stadiums to be selected.
✅ Surface: dirt, digital, and grass
✅ Weather: rainy, fog, and sunny.
✅ Distance: 1200m, 1400m, 1600m, and 1800m (according to each tendency of racehorse)
The combination of surface, weather and distance will create a variety of tournament settings,
bringing players unpredictable experience and fun.
📷
Pre-league, off, G3, G2, and G1 will be upgraded and demoted through each league.
Through this level system, each racehorse can participate in the leagues,
and prize money will also be determined depending on the player's betting.
Players may participate in each league.
📷
A total of 16 racehorses (16 players) will race in EDEN HORSE.
Racing will be conducted in real time and by reservation matching,
and the stadium will be determined through the DAO system.
The player will earn reward for predicting and betting on the result of the race,
and the racehorse owners will receive prize money for the race.
1st Generation Dam receives the prize money of the racehorse through NFT license.
Racehorse owners can receive reward based on the in-game tier system through various characters (jockeys).
④User Flowchart
📷
Based on the virtuous cycle structure of ELT Utility Token, each user involved in the ecosystem will receive fair payout according to the level of involvement. Regular players bet on horse racing tournaments by purchasing tickets with ELT and earn dividends. NFT racehorse owners or horse owners can participate in the race, as well as engage in various economic activities in their families. In other words, the player and the horse owners coexist.
The stallion owners may breed with other dams and new generation foal will be born, and will be rewarded with license fee (in ELT) for breeding. Mare NFT owners will be rewarded payout based on racehorse production sales and racing.
EDEN HORSE is different from the other horse racing projects as we DAO based, tournament settings (weather, track surface etc) will be decided by our fam
Pre-tournament using Pony racehorse will be held in the PRE-OFF season, and not usual racehorse, is designed specifically for horse racing beginners or Crypto Newbies.
Users may purchase pari-mutuel tickets using ETH or ELT, and for other assets using EELT (Eden Loop Utility Token) or pari-mutuel tickets. EELT is a utility token used on the Eden Loop platform, and EDEN HORSE tournaments will be displayed exactly like the actual ones, hence anyone can easily enjoy and watch actual horse racing tournaments and stand a chance to be level-up to race in OFF season depending on their efforts.

2023.04.01 13:26 Forsaken-Garlic4818 money diary: I‘m 28, live in Boston, make roughly $70k as a 👩🏼🏫 and everyone is ragey at work this week! (emoji-style baby)
part 1: net worth positive net worth
category | #shesworthsomething |
💹 15,700 | Roth IRA, not much but it’s honest work. I wasn’t able to contribute last year but sent $1400 this month. Don’t think I will max this year but will do what I can. |
📱 1,400 | 457, not even sure why I contribute to this ($50/paycheck) |
📈 25,100 | Pension – cash value not super relevant here. 11% mandated contribution |
💰 7,100 | checking |
🤑 3,000 | HYSA @ 4.25% |
➕ 52,300 | we keep it positive around here |
debt
category | oops, she’s in debt again |
💷 -45,203 | Private student loan @ 4.79%, paid biweekly but sending extra $ |
💸 -72,957 | Undergrad Stafford + grad @ 5.2%. halfway done with PSLF! |
➖ 118,160 | 😬 (but it looks worse on paper!) |
casita
category | ah, but what about the house? |
🏡 362,000 | Purchase price, spring 2022, ginormous (income-restricted) condo |
💸 -317,026.81 | Mortgage #1 balance @ 2.75% |
♊ -23,431.95 | Mortgage #2 balance @ 0%, down-payment assistance paid in full at end of mortgage or resale |
➕ 21,541.24 | Equity including both mortgages, since not including #2 feels disingenuous |
NET WORTH: -45,672.46 part 2: income Nothing exciting here as a public school teacher. My salary is fixed and the entire internet can figure out exactly how much I make. Next year I will apply to be a new teacher mentor to move over a lane (6% raise while I do the job). We won a great raise in our last contract so we can finally be paid almost as much as everyone around us!
This is my 5th year teaching but am on step 6 of 11 due to a full year internship.
read my paycheck and weep pay schedule: 24 paychecks a year (NOT 26), biweekly Fridays with the exception of holidays and the final day of school, where you receive paychecks 22, 23, 24 and are expected to make that last late June through early September
each paycheck is different, so let’s do paycheck #1
💹 2,935.83 | gross |
💊 -37.14 | medicare (but not SS) |
👩🏼⚕️ -325.65 | PPO, I get sick often and in unexpected places |
🦷 -42.97 | dental |
👓 -5.91 | vision |
📱 -50 | 457 contribution |
🚕 -184.19 | federal withholding |
🚖 -114.32 | state withholding |
📈 -322.94 | pension withholding |
➕ 1,852.71 | behold, how little of my take home I get to actually enjoy |
Now paycheck #2
💹 2,935.83 | gross |
💊 -48.01 | medicare (but not SS) |
📱 -50 | 457 contribution |
🚕 -323.86 | federal withholding |
🚖 -151.79 | state withholding |
📈 -322.94 | pension withholding |
💪🏼 -87 | union power, baby |
➕ 1,952.23 | Also known at work as “the good paycheck” |
For those keeping track at home, my monthly gross is typically 5,871.66 and my net is typically 3,804.94
Why typically?
- If we have 3 paychecks in a month: enjoy the big fat no medical or union deduction!
- …unless it’s April onwards, when they deduct health insurance from EVERY paycheck to cover your summer months (we call it double deduction season)
- in December we get a premium holiday (1/2 medical deduction)
- I also run an outdoors club at work, which I am paid $35/hr when I run the club and additional pay for certain trips (last month I was paid $375 alone for our annual weekend overnight before vacation). This can be wildly inconsistent but let’s just say I have an extra $100-150 to play with each month.
part 3: please enjoy my emoji'd YNAB categories category 💲 | PAY DEM BILLZ |
🏡 1343.38 | Putting the PIT in mortgage…or something like that. The other I is paid separately |
⛲ 167 | HOA |
🔐 68.16 | Was not required to have insurance at closing. Don’t be stupid like me. |
🎓 0 | fed loans, thanks Grandpa Joe. I think this will be about $250/m when it starts up again. PSLF date late 2028 |
⛽ 31 | YNAB tells me this is my average since moving to my house. Grateful to have big windows and a “put a sweater on” childhood upbringing – touched the heat twice this year |
🔌 50 | Averaged to include spicy hot summer months (it was 34 this month) |
💻 39.95 | interwebs |
🏫 412.92 | Private loan, paid biweekly (so if it’s a rare 3 payment month it’s more). The minimum monthly payment is something like $316, but I’m sending an extra $50 to get some benefit from the power of compound interest. 4.79% is not a make or break rate. Payoff 2034 but hope this can happen sooner. |
📰 12.50 | NYT Academic rate |
🚊 90 | Monthly pass |
🍿 15.99 | Somebody needs to pay the HBO Max |
➖ 2234.43 | Assigned this month |
⭐
category 💲 | important semi-regular expenses |
🎁 20 | Averaged gifts and donations, we have a special scholarship at work |
⛲ 167 | HOA |
👗 0 | I haven’t bought new clothes in a while and it’s starting to show. |
🤸🏼♀️ 85 | trampoline class |
👩🏼⚕️ 60 | YNAB tells me my average is 60/mo, but this is overinflated due to an MRI in November that I will only have to do once more time. I’m usually at the urgent care or a specialist doctor 1x/month (this month: a UTI), so it’s more like 30 |
🪑 40 | Hard to quantify. Since I moved in, I had a free couch moved ($200), bought a very nice TV ($750), a vacuum ($250), filters for vacuum ($30), and the world’s nicest washer ($1900). So YNAB is telling me a horrifying $400/mo, but let’s call it 40 going forward |
🌷 0 | I was a good urban balcony gardener, but no balcony. Waiting for a community garden spot, hopefully next year |
🍉 250 | Includes booze and small household things (TP, paper towels, dish soap) |
🥾 30 | Am avid hiker and rollerblader. Averaged cost of trip incidentals like carpool or snacks, admission to roller rink |
💊 55 | 3 lifesaving medicines (25/mo + 10/mo + 30 as needed) + 10 for whatever medicine needed for illness of the month (10 for antibiotics this month). Every year I get a new epi-pen for 10 or 30. This month was more like 85 because my pharmacy accidentally sent me a med I have plenty of. |
➖ 500 | rough guesstimate |
⭐
monthly 💲 | annual 💲 | annual expenses (save early, save often) |
🤑 3.95 | 🕛47.33 | Splitting YNAB with a friend on the new family plan |
💇🏼♀️ 22.50 | 🕛 270 | 2x curly haircuts a year (cut + tip) |
🩰 127.78 | 🕛 1150 | Pair of opening weekend orchestra tickets + donor perks + volunteer dues |
🌴 55 | 🕛 650 | My part of family vacation with parents |
🕶 33.33 | 🕛 400 | Annual eye visit (exam + contact fitting + 12 months contacts) |
📦 11.59 | 🕛 139 | prime shipping, no car in a store desert + my mom likes videos |
🎄 50 | 🕛 600 | I love Christmas |
💸 ? | 🕛 6500 | Roth IRA, we’re getting aspirational. I sent $1400 this month because it was a 3 paycheck month. Going to try to max and see how far I get. |
🦷 86.35 | 🕛 2250 | Saving ½ of estimated costs for Invisalign – never had braces as a kid and now my teeth are pretty bad. Hoping to start May 2024. There is unfortunately no savings for paying everything upfront so I’m saving ½ now and expecting a monthly payment around 150/mo during the treatment. |
➖390.50 | 🕛 4,686 | Ignoring the Roth IRA |
⭐
category 💲 | very big savings |
🌆 428.57 | 3k goal by August 2023 (current balance: 850), “No August pay” – we don’t get paid in August and the first week of September so setting aside money specifically for this without feeling guilty for draining my emergency fund |
🕐 300 | (181.82 since I’m ahead) Homeowner’s 1% Warchest, it’s exactly what it sounds like. For any and all home expenses (things breaking or projects). Current balance: 2k |
🛑 140.91 | Building back EF, goal is 3k by December 2023 (current balance: 1.7k). I know this is low but my job is hilariously stable. I will try to add another month in 2024. |
⭐
category 💲 | fun money! |
💻 50 | Laptop replacement, just chucking money in there. I’d like to buy a Lenovo IdeaPad Duet 5i since I love the 2 in 1 form factor. Currently have 100/600 |
🚝 70 (paused) | Travel fund contribution, but full at 350. BFF getting married in VT in August so hoping to turn it into a girl’s weekend with another BFF |
🎮 65 (paused) | General video game fund – keep it topped up at 65 in case a new game drops OR if multiple games go on sale. I try to only buy games on deep sale |
🎮 12.99 | Final Fantasy XIV sub, I’ll retire someday |
👯♀️ 50 | Anything with friends, including eating out with them. usually 100 in the summer |
🍦 30 | “eating out” aka solo treats for myself (breakfast at dunks, small treats) |
🎊 10 | events happening that we want to go to not already covered, averaged. |
➖ 202.99 | Not including travel and video games since that’s topped up |
If you add up the categories, I’m in the red and I’m well aware of it – not for much longer though, as I’m saving really aggressively. 😊
part 4: el diario Day 1 – Saturday
🌅 gotta get dad to the ballet! 4.80
👯♀️ brunch with daddy-o before the ballet, I provide the tickets but he pays for brunch. his wallet is hurting because he only just got paid at his new job, so I kick in 20
👀 because brunch is attached to a swanky hotel and it’s PAX east wknd. 0 for free entertainment
🥤 my father requests a water bottle before the show. 6
🩰 don q, my 3rd time and dad’s 1st. Very good, but very long. 0 because these are volunteer comps
🚊 & 👋🏼
🧼 the casita before the week starts
total: 30.80 Day 2 – Sunday
💤 lazy Sunday morning (dw, I’m still up at 6). Read the NYT cover to cover then play 🎮
🚊 meeting a friend of a friend to help her do taxes but I’m early
📖 it’s gorgeous out so I photosynthesize in the BPL courtyard with my book club book
⛔ the wifi is too slow for us to do taxes so we pack up and 🚶🏼♀️ down newbury st until we settle at trident
👯♀️ I supervise her taxes, and eat a late lunch (grilled cheese w/ avo and tomato). 22.15
🍉 make the mistake of dragging this poor girl with me to the postage stamp sized TJ’s. and it’s 5:15. one does not shop here so much as get in line at the beginning & pick what you want as you go. a tall person fetches me frozen arepas. I come in right on budget so I’m pleased. 57.52
👋🏼 & 🚊 home to plan my week and decompress with 🎮 and 📖
Total: 79.67 Day 3 – Monday
🌅 it’s just before 6 and birds are happy, but now I am taking the 🚍 to work
🌉 stuck on the bus with my BOSS because a 🚢 is passing through the drawbridge. at least we can now fill out 90 second walk from the bus to dunks with acceptable new england small talk subjects (weather, transit, and sports) before she dips to get coffee
😡 the youth, because tomorrow & wednesday are standardized testing. sorry kids, I don’t make the schedule!
🙏🏼 “my plan is to read the questions carefully and ask God to help me know” – A+ testing strategy
✌🏼 2:30 and on my way home
🤸🏼♀️ take the 🚊 to go to bounce (0, see monthly expenses) and catch up with bounce buddy M.
🚶🏼♀️ walk with M. to the 🚊, go home for 🍜, 🚿, 📖, 🎮
Total: 0 Day 4 – Tuesday
🌅 hello, happy birds as I walk to the 🚍
🔥 the computers are not charged for testing. teenagers have been divested of all electronics and are not allowed to talk to each other. mayhem approaching in 3 … 2 … 1 …
🤬 nonstatus (male) colleague uses a work group text thread to refer to an unknown female colleague as the b-word. mayhem continues
❓ 2 hour (!) meeting after work due to snow day cancellations. male colleague doubles down on his comment before storming out. brain is mush
🚍 I remember nothing
🔐 as I am politely informed by my e-mail 68.16
👩🏼🍳 white bean & tomato stew & watch abbott elementary because it’s cathartic
🗣📕 ballet book club on zoom! we just finished a book about martha graham so we talk about it (I’m hosting next time about james whiteside)
total: 68.16 Day 5 – Wednesday
🌅 please go away, very loud mourning dove
🍎 computers are charged, the youth are not. Mr. Insult has decided not to come to work today (probably for the best?)
🤬 is there something in the water?! another nonstatus teacher informs me that two of my students are talking to each other in the hallway and are not following her instructions which tbh is a day that ends in Y. important context: her instruction is in English and they only understand Spanish. I send them back to their testing rooms and she says, “when students ignore me and continue to speak in a language they know I don’t understand, they are being assholes” UM! GOODBYE!!!
😡 before I say something I regret I turn heel and inform my boss of this interaction. she takes a breath and thanks me for letting her know
😤 this is me taking a calming inhale / exhale before returning to staring at children
🏹 when I am proctoring (read: not allowed to read, grade, do work, browse the interweb), I like to imagine how the hunger games would go down if these kids were in it. the odds are in this room’s favor overall.
👩🏼🏫 these miserable youth are forced into a half day of classes, so we conference about grades and I let them have some free time
🏕 run weekly outdoors club for the youth. one student informs me a teacher refuses to sign a permission slip & doesn’t know why. make mental note to find this person and politely inquire. students make a great poster of images from our last trip and practice map skills
✌🏼 at 3:30 to get the 🚂 to then get on the 🚊 to go to 🤸🏼♀️ … it sounds awful but it all goes pleasantly smoothly, especially given how the T has been. class is great, lots of one-legged kicking on the trampoline. this is my 2nd week in a row of going from 2x class a week to 3x and it’s a tough adjustment. 0
🚶🏼♀️ to the 🚊 with M., who can’t make it to class on Friday – sad!
💊 the medicine I didn’t ask for but keeps coming has arrived. Note to self to call pharmacy and ask them to stop, but says 0 refills. Not a total waste because I KNOW I will get bronchitis again & need this. 10
🍿 paid for to keep my mother happy 15.99
🍴 eat leftover stew and 📞 my mother and best friend T. to debrief this very strange day
🎮 and 📖 before bed
Total: 25.99 Day 6 – Thursday
🌅 ahoy! Run into coworker D. on the 🚍 who gets coffee at dunks. I am feeling weak and acquire some 🥑🍞 3.69
🤝🏼 find this teacher who refuses to sign permission slip (who is also new). his reasons are very valid and we agree on conditions the student needs to fulfill to attend trip. hooray, adults being civil!
🤬 that’s it, something is in the water. two best friends in 3rd hour begin a heated verbal altercation about … a girl? in the middle of my class?? One kid takes off so I call security to let them know he would benefit from a check-in. the other student begins texting threats to his buddy and goes off on me when I tell him to stop. what is happening?!
👼🏼 boy returns with security at end of class, so I walk him to dean to process. 35 minutes later dean says everything is gucci and no more problems. hormones, man.
✌🏼 please get me out of here
💻 bill is paid 39.95
👵🏼 our weekly call (she is my only grandparent and is not doing well)
👨🏼 weekly call with father, who still likes his new job
🍜 leftover stew and Mandalorian with my 👩🏼 (we live text each other). finally, a good space battle!
🎮 and 📖 to decompress along with a long hot 🚿
total: 43.64 Day 7 – Friday
🌅 I don’t think I can do this today.
🧘🏼♀️ It has been such a frustrating week (there was another incident that happened that I can’t even reference due to state law/FERPA) that was incredibly traumatic and draining.
📱 to best friend T. and work friend R. to ask what they would do. Both endorse me taking a day off after this wild week.
🎮 and 📖 along with some stretching. 📞 with best friend E. to catch up on her wedding prep and life
🤑 payday! Good paycheck since it’s the 3rd of the month, but it might be missing hours from club. I won’t know until I see my paystub on Monday. +2,183.48 (+50 to 457, +322.94 to pension)
💸 ah, but it’s also the 31st. easy come, easy go 🏡 (1343.38) and ⛲ (167)
🚊 to 🤸🏼♀️ to a really 🔥 class. Learn the name of the girl next to me on Fridays who also brings her inhaler and it turns out we’re both teachers!
🍦 take a nice mozzarella sandwich home from tatte 13.97
🚊, 🍴, 🚿, 📖, 🎮
Total: 1,524.35 Grand totals:
- food & drank: 65.81
- entertainment: 15.99
- home & health: 10
- clothes & beauty: 0
- transport: 4.80
- other: 1,618.49 (how I would class my house expenses)
reflection: typical week money-wise in terms of reflecting my non-house spending – I’m saving really aggressively right now and don’t have a lot of money for discretionary spending. Even if I did, I’m very much a homebody during the work week. My job is probably more stressful than most as a baseline but this week was truly unbelievably bad. Still, looking through the week and taking time to step back I realize just how quality my support network is and for that I'm very grateful.

2023.04.01 13:21 AnderLouis_ Hail and Farewell (George Moore) - Chapter 11
PODCAST: https://ayearofwarandpeace.podbean.com/e/ep1521-hail-and-farewell-george-moore-ave-chapter-11/ PROMPTS: Poor Edward. Something quite wrong about what went on here...
Today's Reading, via Project Gutenberg: XI
While Edward revised his play Yeats and I talked of
The Shadowy Waters, and the Boers crossed one of our frontiers into Cape Colony or Natal—I have forgotten which; but I remember very well my attitude of mind towards the war, and how I used to walk every day from Tillyra to Ardrahan, a distance of at least two Irish miles, to fetch the newspaper, so anxious was I to read of a victory for our soldiers.
Before starting I would pay Edward a visit in his tower, and after a few words about the play, I would tell him that the way out of our South African difficulties was simple—the Government should arm the blacks; and this would make Edward growl out that the English Government was beastly enough to do it; and I remember how I used to go away, pleased that I had always the courage of my morality. Other men do what they know to be wrong, and repent, or think they repent; but as it would be impossible for me to do what I believe to be wrong, repentance is for me an idle word; and, thinking that to raise an army of seventy thousand blacks would be a fine trick to play upon the Boers, I often returned through the park full of contempt for my countrymen, my meditations interrupted occasionally by some natural sight—the beauty of the golden bracken through which the path twisted, a crimson beech at the end of it, or the purple beauty of a line of hills over against the rocky plain freckled with the thatched cabins of the peasantry. Nor do I remember more beautiful evenings than these were; and, as the days drew in, the humble hawthorns shaped themselves into lovely silhouettes, and a meaning seemed to gather round the low, mossy wall out of which they grew, until one day the pictorial idea which had hitherto stayed my steps melted away, and I became possessed by a sentimental craving for the country itself. After all, it was my country, and, strangely perturbed, I returned to the castle to ask Edward's opinion regarding the mysterious feeling that had glided suddenly into my heart as I stood looking at the Burran Mountains.
It is difficult for anybody to say why he loves his country, for what is a country but a geographical entity? And I am not sure that Edward was listening very attentively when I told him of a certain pity, at variance with my character, that had seemed to rise out of my heart.
It would be strange if Cathleen ni Houlihan were to get me after all. That is impossible ... only a passing feeling; and I sat looking at him, remembering that the feeling I dreaded had seemed to come out of the landscape and to have descended into my heart. But he was so little interested in what seemed to me transcendental that I refrained from further explanation, concluding that he was thinking of his play, which had gone to Coole yesterday. I was led to think this, for he was sitting at the window as if watching for Yeats. We were expecting our poet.
Here he is. I wonder what he thinks of your revisions?
And to save Edward from humiliation I asked Yeats as soon as he came into the room if he liked the new third act.
No, no; it's entirely impossible. We couldn't have such a play performed. And dropping his cloak from his shoulders, he threw his hair from his brow with a pale hand, and sank into a chair, and seemed to lose himself in a sudden meditation. It was like a scene from a play, with Yeats in the principal part; and, admiring him, I sat thinking of the gloom of Kean, of the fate of the Princes in the Tower, headsmen, and suchlike things, and thinking, too, that Yeats, notwithstanding his hierarchic airs, was not an actual literary infallibility. The revised third act might not be as bad as he seemed to think it. He might be mistaken ... or prejudiced. Yeats's literary integrity is without stain, that I knew. But he might be prejudiced against Edward without knowing it. The success of
The Heather Field had stirred up in Edward, till then the most unassuming of men, a certain aggressiveness which, for some time past, I could see had been getting on Yeats's nerves. Nor am I quite sure that myself at that moment would not have liked to humble Edward a little ... only a little. But let us not be drawn from the main current of our resolution, which is entirely literary, by a desire to note every sub-current. Yeats looked very determined, and when I tried to induce him to give way he answered:
We are artists, and cannot be expected to accept a play because other plays as bad, and nearly as bad, have been performed.
Saints, I said, do not accept sins because sins are of common occurrence.
He did not answer, but sat looking into the fire gloomily.
He takes a very determined view of your play, Edward. It may not strike me in the same light. If you will give me the manuscript I'll just run upstairs with it. I can't read it in front of you both.
There was no reason why I should read the first two acts; Edward had not touched them. What he had engaged to rewrite was the last half of the third act, and a few minutes would enable me to see if he had made sufficient alterations for the play to be put forward—not as a work of art—that is as something that would be acted fifty years hence for the delight of numerous audiences, as proof of the talent that existed in Ireland at the end of the nineteenth century—but as a play to which literary people could give their attention without feeling ashamed of themselves afterwards. There was no reason why we should ask for more than that; for the subject of the play was merely one of topical interest, and it is a mistake—I pointed this out to Yeats—to be very particular about the literary quality of such a play. All the same it would have to be put right, and this Edward could not do. It was more a matter for a cunning literary hand than for a fellow like Edward with a streak of original genius in him, and very little literary tact.
On these reflections I sat down to read, but the play was so crude, even in its revised form, that I fell to thinking that Yeats's thoughts must have wandered very often from the page. He should have remembered, however, whilst we discussed the play with Edward, that Edward was a human being after all, and not made it apparent that he looked upon the play as something the local schoolmaster might have written, and of all, should have kept looks out of his face which said as plainly as words could: Your soul is inferior, beneath my notice; take it away. He did not even seem to apprehend that Edward was torn between love of self and love of Ireland. Abstract thinking, I said, kills human sympathies, and Yeats is no longer able to appreciate anything but literary values. The man behind the play is ignored ... Yeats can no longer think with his body; it is only his mind that thinks. He is all intellect, if that isn't too cardinal a word. And seeing before me quite a new country of conjecture, one which I had never rambled in, I sat thinking of the cruelty of the monks of the Middle Ages, and the cruelty of the nuns and the monks of the present day. Their thoughts are abstracted from this world, from human life—that is why; and Yeats was a sort of monk of literature, an Inquisitor of Journalism who would burn a man for writing that education was progressing by leaps and bounds. Opinions make people cruel—literary as well as theological. Whereas the surgeon, whose thought is always of the flesh, is the kindliest of creatures. It is true that one sometimes hears of surgeons who, in the pursuit of science, willingly undertake operations which they know to be dangerous, and we know that the scientists in the laboratory are indifferent to the sufferings of the animals they vivisect. Even so, Nature thinks like the surgeon who risks an operation in order that he may discover the cause of the disease. The knowledge he gathers from the death of the patient is passed on, and it saves the life of another. But the artist cannot pass on any portion of his art to his pupil; his gift lives in himself and dies with him, and his art comes as much from his heart as from his intellect. The intellect outlives the heart, and the heart of Yeats seemed to me to have died ten years ago; the last of it probably went into the composition of
The Countess Cathleen.
Yesterevening, when we wandered about the lake, talking of
The Shadowy Waters, trying to free it from the occult sciences that had grown about it, Fomorians beaked and unbeaked, and magic harps and Druid spells, I did not perceive that the difficulties into which the story had wandered could be attributed to a lack of human sympathy. But Yeats's treatment of Edward proved it to me. The life of the artist is always at difficult equipoise; he may fail from lack of human sympathies, or he may yield altogether to them and become a mere philanthropist; and we may well wonder what the choice of the artist would have been if he had to choose between the destruction of Messina and Reggio or of Herculaneum and Pompeii. Were he to choose the ancient ruins in preference to the modern towns, he might give very good reasons for doing so, saying that to prolong the lives of a hundred thousand people for a few years would not be, in his opinion, worth a bronze like the Narcissus. A very specious argument might be maintained in favour of the preservation of the bronze, even at the price of a hundred thousand lives. Perhaps he might let the bronze go, but if all Greek art were added he would hesitate, and when he had let one hundred thousand men and women go to their doom he would probably retire into the mountains to escape from sight of every graven thing. To write a play our human and artistic sympathies must be very evenly balanced, and I remembered that among my suggestions for the reconstruction of
The Shadowy Waters, the one that Yeats refused most resolutely was that the woman should refuse to accompany the metaphysical pirate to the ultimate North, but return somewhat diffidently, ashamed of herself, to the sailors who were drinking yellow ale.
Yeats has reflected himself in the pirate, I said. All he cares for is a piece of literature. The man behind it matters nothing to him. But am I not just as wicked as he? Worse, indeed, for Edward is my oldest friend and I do not defend him. Whereupon the manuscript fell from my hand, and I sat for a long time thinking; and then, getting up, I wandered out of my room and hung over the banisters, looking down into the central hall, asking myself what Yeats and Edward were saying to each other, and thinking that their talk must be strained and difficult, thinking too that my duty was to go down to them and bring their bitter interview to an end.
And I resolved to say that I could see no reason why the play should not be acted. But half-way down the stairs my conscience forbade so flagrant a lie. Yeats would not believe me. And what good would it do to allow Edward to bring over actors and actresses for the performance of such a play? It's kinder to tell him the truth. In the middle of the hall I stopped again. But if I tell him the truth the Irish Literary Theatre will come to an end.
Well, Edward, I've read your play ... but the alterations you've made aren't very considerable, and I can't help thinking that the play requires something more done to it.
You've read my play very quickly. Are you sure you've read it?
I've read all the passages that you've altered.
I had only glanced through them, but I could not tell him that a glance was sufficient.
If there were time, you might alter it yourself. You see, the time is short—only two months; and I watched Edward. For a long time he said nothing, but sat like a man striving with himself, and I pitied him, knowing how much of his life was in his play.
I give you the play, he said, starting to his feet. Do with it as you like; turn it inside out, upside down. I'll make you a present of it!
But, Edward, if you don't wish me to alter your play—
Ireland has always been divided, and I've preached unity. Now I'm going to practise it. I give you the play.
But what do you mean by giving us the play? Yeats said.
Do with it what you like. I'm not going to break up the Irish Literary Theatre. Do with my play what you like, and he rushed away.
I'm afraid, Yeats, his feelings are very much hurt.
And my heart went out to the poor man sitting alone in his tower, brooding over his failure. I expected Yeats to say something sympathetic, but all he said was: We couldn't produce such a play as that. It was perhaps the wisest thing he could say under the circumstances. For what use is there in sentimentalising over the lamb whose throat is going to be cut in the slaughter-house?
The sooner the alterations are made the better.
And I asked Yeats to come over tomorrow.
You see, you'll have to help me with this adaptation, for I know nothing of Ireland.
It is a pleasure to be with him, especially when one meets him for the purpose of literary discussion; he is a real man of letters, with an intelligence as keen as a knife, and a knife was required to cut the knots into which Edward had tied his play, for very few could be loosened. The only fault I found with Yeats in this collaboration was the weariness into which he sank suddenly, saying that after a couple of hours he felt a little faint, and would require half an hour's rest.
We returned to the play after lunch, and continued until nearly seven o'clock, too long a day for Yeats, who was not so strong then as he is now, and Lady Gregory wrote to me, saying that I must be careful not to overwork him, and that it would be well not to let him go more than two hours without food—a glass of milk, or, better still, a cup of beef-tea in the afternoon, and half an hour after lunch he was to have a glass of sherry and a biscuit. These refreshments were brought up by Gantley, Edward's octogenarian butler, and every time I heard his foot upon the stairs I offered up a little prayer that Edward was away in his tower, for, of course, I realised that the tray would bring home to him in a very real and cruel way the fact that his play was being changed and rewritten under his very roof, and that he was providing sherry and biscuits in order to enable Yeats to strike out, or, worse still, to rewrite his favourite passages. It was very pathetic; and while pitying and admiring Edward for his altruism, I could not help thinking of two children threading a bluebottle. True that the bluebottle's plight is worse than Edward's, for the insect does not know why it is being experimented upon, but Edward knew he was sacrificing himself for his country, and the idea of sacrifice begets a great exaltation of mind, is in fact, a sort of anaesthetic; and sustained by this belief we, Yeats and I, worked on through the day, Yeats tarrying as late as seven o'clock in order to finish a scene, Edward asking him to stay to dinner, a kindness that proved our undoing, for we lacked tact, discussing before Edward the alterations we were going to make. He sat immersed in deep gloom, saying he did not like our adaptation of the first act, and when we told him the alterations we were going to make in the second, he said:
But you surely aren't going to alter that? Why do you do this? Good heavens! I wouldn't advise you—
Yeats looked at him sternly, as a schoolmaster looks at a small boy, and next morning Edward told me that he was going to Dublin, adding that I had better come with him. On my mentioning that I expected Yeats that afternoon, he said that he would write, telling him of his decision, and a note came from Lady Gregory in the course of the afternoon, saying that she was leaving Coole. Would it be convenient to Edward to allow Yeats to stay at Tillyra for a few days by himself? He would like to continue the composition of
The Shadowy Waters in Galway.
Lady Gregory's request seemed to me an extraordinary one to make in the present circumstances, and it seemed still more extraordinary that Edward should have granted it, and without a moment's hesitation, as if Yeats's literary arrogance had already dropped out of his memory. Such self-effacement as this was clearly a matter for psychological inquiry, and I turned Edward over in my mind many times before I discovered that his self-effacement should be attributed to patriotism rather than to natural amiability. He believed Yeats to be Ireland's poet, and to refuse to shelter him might rob Ireland of a masterpiece, a responsibility which he did not care to face.
Extraordinary! I said to myself, and as in a vision I saw Ireland as a god demanding human sacrifices, and everybody, or nearly everybody, crying: Take me, Ireland, take me; I am unworthy, but accept me as a burnt-offering. Ever since I have been in the country I have heard people speaking of working for Ireland. But how can one work for Ireland without working for oneself? What do they mean? They do not know themselves, but go on vainly sacrificing all personal achievement, humiliating themselves before Ireland as if the country were a god. A race inveterately religious I suppose it must be! And these sacrifices continue generation after generation. Something in the land itself inspires them. And I began to tremble lest the terrible Cathleen ni Houlihan might overtake me. She had come out of that arid plain, out of the mist, to tempt me, to soothe me into forgetfulness that it is the plain duty of every Irishman to disassociate himself from all memories of Ireland—Ireland being a fatal disease, fatal to Englishmen and doubly fatal to Irishmen. Ireland is in my family. My grand-uncle lay in prison condemned to death for treason; my father wasted his life in the desert of national politics. It is said that the custom of every fell disease is to skip a generation, and up to the present it had seemed that I conformed to the rule. But did I? If I did not, some great calamity awaited me, and I remembered that the middle-aged may not change their point of view. To do so is decadence.

What do you do? Naturally, you try to fix it yourself by attempting to jump-start the battery or you call a professional to do it for you. Having a dead car battery can be very inconvenient at times when you’re in a rush or you’re in the middle of nowhere. But how did you end up with that problem in the first place? Here are some of the causes of a dead car battery: - You left your headlights or the car radio on for too long while the car’s engine is off. Doing this will eventually drain the car battery.
- Your car’s interior lights were left on for too long. Just like leaving the headlights on for too long, leaving the interior lights on for too long will also drain the battery.
- Your car battery has reached the end of its life. If your car battery doesn’t recharge even with a jump-start, it may be because it needs to be changed already.
- Your car’s electrical system uses a relay that acts as a switch. If the relay is stuck on the “on” position, it will draw battery power continuously. This can happen even when the engine is turned off.
- Extreme weather changes, especially during winter, may cause the car battery to lose its charge fast. This is because it does not have enough power to efficiently turn the ice-cold engine on. Your car’s alternator is not working properly. The alternator works by converting the engine’s motion into electrical power. This is what charges the battery and if it fails to work properly, you will notice flickering headlights and difficulty with starting the car.
If your car battery needs a jump-start, you can always rely on us to do it for you. Our services are fast, affordable, and affordable throughout the Chicago Metropolitan Area 24/7. GOT ANY QUESTIONS? 2023.04.01 13:10 Dubhda_D Saturday Morning Laugh
Himself is away for the weekend. Housemate upstairs asleep, so kinda had kitchen to myself.
Started making breakfast and threw on the Hamilton soundtrack. As I was cooking I found myself repeating 'Burn' on the auld Alexa and started lip synching along and eventually just full on started giving it a full bloody performance. You'd swear I was Eliza herself...
Sure no one was around...
Except my neighbour who could... through the huge frickin window I was standing in front of (for the sink) watch it all... everything... he had a great big chuckle to himself as I clapped eyes on him and turned 50 shades of mortification.
Ended up squatting down to hide by the saucepan press...
Never wanted the ground to open as much right then so I could throw myself into it.
Be grand. Will just have to sell the house change name and get a new identity.
Happy Saturday folx!

2023.04.01 13:07 RyanzRetroReviewz The Private Lives of Elizabeth & Essex - 1939 Film Review - RyanzRetroReviewz
The Private lives of Elizabeth and Essex (1939)
The private lives of Elizabeth and Essex is a 1939 historical romance drama movie starring Erol Flynn (still riding high on his success from his most memorable of roles in "The Adventures of Robin Hood" just a few years earlier), Bette Davis (who wasn't all that fond of sharing top billing with Flynn, a glorified stuntman in her eyes), and Olivia de Havelland (fresh from the set of her most memorable work in "Gone with the Wind", and making this her fifth out of nine movies sharing co-starring credits with Flynn). Directed by master movie maker Micheal Curtiz (already known for his works on "Captain Blood" and "Angels with Dirty Faces", and later to be known for his larger than life movies such as "Casablanca" and "White Christmas"), stretching his legs with the new technicolor process of filming, and reuniting him yet again with his usual cast of star studded actors\actresses, to whom he had each given their big breaks on screen.
We start this movie off on a large and lavish note, with trumpets and fanfare welcoming home Robert Devereux the Earl of Essex (Flynn) from his victories at war with Spain. But the celebritory mood is cut short when Queen Elizabeth I (Davis), scorns and berates the Earl of Essex for his wreckless sinking of a Spanish treasure galleon, other than the capture of it. Essex then resigns himself from the Queen's service and retires back to his lands. Over the next chunk of the movie, we're taken into life at Elizabeth's court, and quickly come to learn that the Earl of Essex and the Queen are both secretly in love with each other, though none can come to submit themselves to the other publicly. We're introduced to the Lords of Elizabeth's privy council; Lord Raleigh (Vincent Price), Lord Burghley (Henry Stephenson), Sir Robert Cecil (Henry Daniell) and Sir Francis Bacon (Donald Crisp), who all plot and vie to replace Essex as favorite to the Queen. We also come to meet one of the Queen's ladies in waiting, Lady Penelope Gray (de Havilland), who also has a deep secret love for Essex, and will do anything to sour the relationship between the two. A high point of these scenes has Lady Penelope signing a ballad of an old maiden wishing she was still young and fair, which sends the Queen into an extreme fit of rage, breaking all the mirrors in her chamber (a truly great scene on Bette Davis' part).
A messenger soon comes stumbling in from Ireland telling the Queen of their losses to the native forces. This causes Elizabeth to send out a new force to Ireland, as well as giving her a reason to call in Essex and make him master of the city's defences, should they face and invasion. But the Lord's of the privy council all too easily goad the Earl of Essex into volunteering to lead the attack force to Ireland himself, with the Queen's own objection's meaning naught to him.
This then leads us to the bog land battlegrounds of the good old "Emerald Isle" (Ireland for those of you who don't know), smack dab in the middle of the "Nine Years War" (1593-1603), where Essex's men have now been suffering heavy losses due to lack of reinforcements and supplies from the Crown, and only scant letters of reply from the Queen; none of them directly addressing the situation at hand. Essex is furious.
Back in England, Elizabeth is also furious, apparently having being given little to no word from Essex on the situation in Ireland. We now learn that her conniving Lord's and jealous Lady in waiting have all been aiding each other in the omission of certain letters to and from the Queen, in order to ruin the Earl of Essex in her eyes.
Meanwhile in Ireland, Essex finally surrenders to the leader of the rebel Irish army, Hugh O'Neill (Alan Hale, Sr.), when the last of their supply camp is burned out. This, on top of a now angry letter from Elizabeth demanding that he "surrender" himself to the court for treason, sends the Earl into a state of rage. He soon leads his army back to England and storms the court of the Queen, but Elizabeth easily tricks him into standing down his army then having has him arrested and sent to the Tower of London, to Essex's shock and dismay. Lady Pennelope then tearfully admits her crimes to her Queen in hopes of saving the Earl of Essex's life, though this is to no avail.
The final scene of the movie has the two lovers face to face one last time, with Elizabeth begging Essex yet again for his public submission, to which he boldly denies, then marches head held high straight to the executioners block, bringing to us one final look at Queen Elizabeth I, as we pan out and bring up the end credits to this tale (a final scene in which we actually see Flynn on the chopping block was apparently cut after early test previews).
To sum it all up in so many words, "The Private Lives of Elizabeth and Essex" is a fantastically crafted piece of retro cinema, packed full of great quality acting from both our leads and supporting cast, amazingly epic scale sets and costuming effects, elevated by the grand quality symphony score laid down by Eric Wolfgang Korngold, and shot beautifully by Cinematograher Sol Polito, with this being one of the earliest full length live actions movies ever released in color on the big screen. All this is rounded together by director Michael Curtiz, further cementing and solidifying his name in the annals of Hollywood forevermore, hopefully.
And that's all she wrote folks.
Thanks for reading.

2023.04.01 13:03 Sorin61 A Double-Blind, Randomized, Placebo-Controlled Study to Assess the Efficacy of a Nerve Support Formula on Neuropathic Pain in Individuals Suffering from Type II Diabetes Mellitus [03 - 2023]
Background: The primary objective of the present study was to evaluate the effects of a Nerve Support Formula NeuropAWAY® on diabetic neuropathic pain.
Methods: This double-blind, placebo-controlled, randomized trial was conducted between August 2020 and February 2021. Patients aged ≥40 and ≤65 years with a history of type 2 diabetes (T2D) with a confirmed diagnosis of diabetic neuropathic pain were included in the study. The primary efficacy endpoint was to assess the effect of the 42 days administration of the Nerve Support Formula on the neuropathic pain as assessed by the 11 point Pain Intensity Numeric Rating Scale (PI-NRS). The secondary objectives were to assess the effect on plasma vitamin B12 levels, nerve conduction velocity, blood flow velocity, Brief Pain Inventory, Neuropathy Total Symptom Score, and Insomnia Severity Index.
Results: The enrolled study population (n=59) was randomized in two study groups; the Investigational Product (IP) group - Nerve Support Formula (n=27) and placebo group (n=32). The mean age of these participants was 52.63 and 53.72 for IP and placebo group, respectively. The mean (SD) HbA1c levels for IP and placebo group were 8.37 (0.85) and 8.16 (0.86), respectively. By the end of the study (Day 42) the decrease in PI-NRS scores for the IP group was maximal (↓61.32%) and highly significant (p<0.001) in comparison to the placebo group (↑2.47%). Significant improvements (p<0.05) were also noted in the secondary efficacy variables after 42 days of IP intake.
Conclusion: The formula was found to be significantly effective as compared to placebo in reducing pain and other sensory symptoms related to the diabetic peripheral neuropathy.

2023.04.01 12:59 FelicitySmoak_ On This Day In Michael Jackson HIStory - April 1st
Disclaimer: Some of these have unknown April dates. They are identified with a '*' 1968 - The J5 perform at a campaign rally for Richard Hatcher in Gary with Bobby Taylor and Diana Ross & The Supremes among others. Hatcher was the first African-American mayor of Gary, Indiana for 20 years, from 1968 to 1988. At the time of his first election on November 7, 1967, he and Carl Stokes were the first African-Americans to be elected mayors of a U.S. city with more than 100,000 people*
https://imgur.com/a/QPykxSx 1970 - The J5 rehearse for their first concert tour, which would start on May 2nd*
1971 - The Jackson 5 play at the Mid-South Auditorium, Memphis, Tennessee
1972 - J5's cover of Bobby Day's “Little Bitty Pretty One” is released by Motown. It is also the first song where you can clearly hear Marlon's voice. It will reach #13 on the Hot 100*
https://imgur.com/a/77uT4hU 1981- Michael does backing vocals on Carole Bayer Sager’s song “Just Friends”. Michael had previously recorded Sager's "It's the Falling in Love" for
Off the Wall. He was visiting Carole in the studio when she invited him to join the session. He came up with such a special part on the Bacharach/Sager composition "Just Friends" that they happily offered him a co-production credit*
https://youtu.be/bfGtCjIgnsU 1985 - Michael and seven members of USA For Africa are on the cover of Life Magazine
https://imgur.com/a/ZnDLbeA 1987 - Michael withdraws from The Jeovah’s Witness, a step that normally means he must be shunned by family members and friends who remain in the religious sect.
A representative of the Woodland Hills congregation where Jackson belonged said that the entertainer “disassociated” himself from the congregation and “no longer wants to be known as a Jehovah’s Witness.”
The official would not state what the implications of “disassociation” are, but when asked if they are serious, he responded, “Correct.”
Though Jackson’s anti-drug stance in public appearances was in keeping with the Witnesses’ clean-living codes, the entertainer’s Grammy-winning album
Thriller produced tensions with the sect leaders in 1983 because of allegations the record and short film encouraged occult beliefs*
1988 - Michael plays the last of three nights at the Civic Center in Hartford, Connecticut
https://imgur.com/a/g5555p4 The story of Anne Miner: Anne is a great-grandmother who never attended a rock concert and prefers Big Band-era music. She says she is 'excited' about going to see Michael Jackson with tickets she won from a radio station but plans on taking cotton with her for her ears
'I'm excited. It's a chance of a lifetime experience,' said Anne Miner, 70. 'How many times are you going to see Michael Jackson in concert?'
The Greenfield woman, who admitted her favorite group was the Glenn Miller Band, big in the 1940s, won the tickets in a Michael Jackson Trivia Contest sponsored by WHAI radio and the Pepsi Co.
A chauffeur-driven white stretch limousine complete with champagne were to pick up Miner and a guest at her home and drive them to Hartford Civic Center in Connecticut and back.
She even considered wearing her old black-leather coat to the concert. She intends to go with her 20-year-old nephew, Michael J. Smith.
Smith said he prefers hard-rock bands like Bon Jovi over Jackson, but still expected to enjoy the concert. 'I'm just glad (Jackson) doesn't wear that white glove anymore.'
The two were given floor seats worth $22.50 each to the concert, which sold out just hours after tickets went on sale.
To earn the tickets, Miner answered three questions:
- What's Jackson's current record label?
- What's the identity of the celebrity who discovered him
- Where did Jackson grow up?
Miner said she determined Jackson's record label was Epic by going to a record store and that she learned his hometown was Gary, Indiana at the Greenfield Public Library. She admitted she guessed that Diana Ross was the celebrity who discovered him
'I'm always winning something,' said Miner, a retired waitress of 41 years. She said she's a compulsive contest player who occasionally gambles on the Massachusetts State Lottery and always buys raffle tickets.
Miner said she has seen Jackson 'shaking around' on television and thinks he is a lot like Elvis Presley, but adds he 'looks like a girl.'
1989 -Michael is on the cover of Ebony magazine.
https://imgur.com/a/UeLPsn8 1989 - Filming of "Liberian girl" short film takes place over 2 days. Veteran video director, Jim Yukich, was brought in to help craft a memorable clip.
“CBS Epic called and Michael Jackson wants to do a video for this song ‘Liberian Girl’ and I hadn’t heard this song yet,” said Yukich. “I’m thinking like ‘Off the Wall’ or ‘Rock with You’ or just I figure it will be one of those classic Michael Jackson killer songs, right? And ‘Liberian Girl’ is not a killer song. It’s funny — what do you do? So again, we’re throwing the kitchen sink at it, and so I pitched the idea to Michael that we would have him shoot the video while all these are people waiting to begin the video, and they don’t realize it until the end is that he’s directing.”
“He loved the idea. We started calling people, and we just called in favors from friends. I had just done a television special with Richard Dreyfuss, and Richard said he’d love to be in it. He said, ‘Can I call up Steven?’ and I said, ‘Steven who?’ and he said ‘Steve Spielberg and Amy Irving, and I said, “Yeah!” So he called Spielberg and Amy, and then you start calling people saying you have these people, and I’d start naming names and it was easy. It was very easy to get people because as soon as you get a couple of big names, everybody wants to be in it.”
The shooting day basically consisted of Yukich and his crew filming all the celebrities on a soundstage as they wait for Michael to show up. The final list of guest stars served as, in retrospect, a truly strange snapshot of that year in showbusiness.Comedy writers were given the task of writing some interesting things for the cast to say on camera while they waited.
“So we just had two days, and we had the live audio with John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John doing the scene when they sang together, and they hadn’t sang together onscreen since ‘Grease’, so it was something to do that, and we just shot this grand stuff of people talking, and the outtakes are incredible because it’s just people talking. The song is not even playing! It’s just great getting all these stars in a room and you’re just filming and they’re saying, ‘What are you supposed to do?’ and we’d say, ‘We’ll get back to you,’ and you’d just mike everybody and shoot stuff.”
Yukich said that in a room filled with stars, Steven Spielberg’s uneasiness on the other side of the camera was the biggest surprise. Yukich used a push-pull camera shot on Spielberg, who was the director that made that camera shot popular, hence its industry nickname – 'The Jaws Shot'
“He was nervous. We did that push-pull move for that shot, and he was more nervous than I was, you know, being on camera. He wanted to try to do this favor for Michael because he wanted Michael for a movie.” Yukich also said that working with Michael was an amazing experience, but required some on-set preparation.
“Incredible,” he said. “I mean, at first, it was funny because he sent his handlers in first, and they check, and they said he is coming in 10 minutes. They go in all the different rooms to make sure that no bombs were there and there were no fans hanging out, and they kicked people out, and it was almost like going through airport security or something. They basically kicked people out there who weren’t supposed to be there, and they bring in a microwave oven with bananas for Bubbles the monkey and Max which was the baby monkey. It was like a real rigmarole, and then when he showed up, you know, he was unbelievably nice. Such a pleasant person and a nice guy.”
Jackson also had only one request involving the removal of a person from the final cut.“He called me a couple of times after he saw the edit. He would make us do some things, like he took out David Spade. David Spade was in the original cut. He called me up and he said, ‘Jim, this is Michael,’ and you think somebody was fooling with you, basically. You would never know if it was really him until he started talking about specifics and you could say, okay, that is Michael. So he called us up and he on a walkie-talkie phone or something, or he’s up in Santa Barbara, and says, ‘You know, in 3 minutes and 20 seconds, there’s a guy blonde here. Who is that guy?’ I said his name is David Spade. ‘I don’t know who he is, take him out.’ So Spade was out, and I’m sure Spade was, like, pissed!” (Spade had not yet joined SNL)
Yukich is still aggravated that the song, and hence the video, was never released in America.
When Jackson died suddenly, Yukich immediately thought back to the video and a conversation the two had.
“To this day, I’ve been – I guess not so much anymore, because years have gone by — but I was convinced when he died that he didn’t die. We made that video, and he said to me, ‘I would love to be hiding and see what people say about me, you know?’ I mean, having shot all that footage and then he died? It was just kind of weird.”
The video is dedicated to Liz Taylor, who is in fact not a Liberian girl *

Michael’s lawyer Zia Moddaber answsers that his client never signed anything and was not even in Los Angeles on that date…
In his suit, Lee claimed that Jackson hired him in the late 1990s to put the musician’s finances in order, only to turn a deaf ear when it came to taking Lee’s advice by refusing to curb spending. Lee then claimed Jackson never paid him, instead relying on “charlatans” and “hucksters” for advice.
In his court papers, Lee called Jackson a “ticking financial time bomb waiting to explode” who owed banks hundreds of millions of dollars in loans.
Michael would countersue claiming Lee and Union Finance swindled millions from him and destroyed financial records to cover up their misdeeds.

Michael goes to court with Katherine & Joe. Testimonies of Jeff Klapackis, Jack Green, Larry Feldman & Jesus Salas.
Larry Feldman, the attorney who first interviewed Michael Jackson's accuser testified that he was never asked to file a lawsuit against the singer.
However, he did acknowledge under cross examination, that the boy and his younger brother could file civil lawsuits until they turn 20 years old, the accuser being 15 years old now.
The prosecution had called Feldman to explain how the alleged molestation came to the attention of the authorities, but the defense used his appearance to try to show its belief, that the accuser and his family were out to get money from Jackson.
Jackson's defense lawyer, Thomas Mesereau grilled Feldman about the the impact of a criminal conviction, whether or not it would make a financial judgment easier.
"If Mr. Jackson was convicted of felony child molestation in this case, (the boy or his brother) could use that case to win a civil case alleging similar of same facts against Mr. Jackson, is that correct?" asked Mesereau.
"That is correct" said Feldman.
The two lawyers sparred over the exact requirements of a civil suit, and Feldman denied accusations of encouraging the criminal action, in an attempt to avoid incurring costs involved in preparing a civil lawsuit.
However, Feldman insisted that there would still be litigation expenses.
DA Tom Sneddon asked Feldman whether he was planning a lawsuit at the time, that he referred the accusing family to Santa Barbara prosecutors, to which Feldman replied "There was no lawsuit and there were no plans to file a lawsuit. It was up to you to investigate"
Feldman was permitted to tell jurors of a previous accusation against Jackson in 1993, where Feldman represented another boy, who won a monetary settlement. Jurors were not told how much the boy was paid, but Feldman said there were no trouble collecting it. An amount which has been reported to be millions of dollars.
Sneddon projected a photograph of the boy from the previous allegations on a courtroom screen, and asked Feldman to identify him.
"He was much better looking at that age. He was adorable," Feldman said, a remark which the judge ordered stricken from the record.
The picture showed a boy who many believe bears a striking resemblance to the current accuser.
Feldman said that while he met with the current accuser's mother many times after he ceased to represent her officially, he has "never been asked to file any lawsuit against Michael Jackson"
When Feldman walked outside the courthouse in an afternoon break in testimony, fans yelled "liar", "tell the truth" and "you're making money off the backs of these people"
Feldman said, he was first contacted by the family because of a dispute over the boy's appearance in the documentary,
Living With Michael Jackson where he appeared holding hands with Jackson. Feldman then referred the family to psychologist Stan J. Katz "to make out some heads and tails of what was being told to me by the family"
Katz reported suspicions of molestation to authorities after interviewing the family.
Also on the stand Friday, was an an investigator who testified that linens seized by police from Michael's bed, had failed to yield any DNA linked to the teenage accuser or his brother.
In other testimony, Sheriff's Lt. Jeff Klapackis defends the scale of the effort, when 69 investigators served a search warrant at Neverland on Nov. 18, 2003.
The large number of investigators were needed, he said, because they had only been allowed one day to carry out the search, because the district attorney didn't want to "burden the ranch and its employees with our presence longer than that," Klapackis said. He also said that there were large buildings to search at the 2,800-acre ranch.
Klapackis also said, that they took all bedding during the search, because that is where the accuser and his brother claim to have frequently slept, and where they allege the molestation took place.
During cross-examination, Klapackis said authorities did not test bottle and glasses containing alcohol for fingerprints - found in Jackson's bedroom as well as the home's wine cellar and kitchen. Nor did investigators test furniture, boxes, mannequin toys and rails along Jackson's stairwell, or his bedroom doors for fingerprints.
When asked on redirect why, Klapackis said, "It didn't enter in the investigation at the time."
However, they did test pornographic magazines. The boy's brother testified how Jackson showed them magazines. A fingerprint analyst has testified earlier, that the prints of Jackson and his accuser were recovered from the same magazine.
Jack Green, president of a Ventura telephone systems company, testified that he had inspected Neverland's phone systems. He explained that it had a function to allow someone to listen in on other's calls, but there was nothing to prevent anyone from calling 911.
Prosecutors allege the family's calls were monitored by Jackson, whereas the defense say the family could have called for help, if they truly were captives.

2023.04.01 12:41 G2idlock Will there ever be a fix for Overload Minotaur bug, healing through overload damage.
As the title states, I'm not sure if this is a bug or a feature anymore, this has been going on for so long it's a bit concerning.
It's gotten past the point where one would consider a fix for this a priority as overload minotaurs seem to be one of the most oppressive enemy types in late game and this just makes end game solo content a drag. Stunning the minotaur with overload damage then watching it heal instantly while still applying overload damage is kinda lame, no matter how much I stun it and how much overload damage I keep pumping into the minotaur, it just keeps healing nonstop (I'm not talking about the post stun heal mechanic it has, I'm saying that even through stun it heals non stop, this doesn't happen with any other overload champion type except minotaurs). Apply weaken and it still heals through the weaken debuff. It seems that the stun itself is super inconsistent and procs the health regeneration non stop.
When would we ever be seeing a fix for this or a workaround. I can't for the life of me solo 2 minotaurs by myself if they are basically invulnerable. Solo MasteGrand Master with these enemies is near impossible when they bug out so often.
Edit: Does this have anything to do with using Le Monarq? It seems to happen most often to me when using it in a solo instance.

2023.04.01 12:35 moondog151 "The Huang Yanqiu Incident" A rural villager would on three separate occasions go missing after going to bed only to wake up in a major city thousands of miles away and arrived in the city faster than he should've been possible given the distance.
| Huang Yanqiu was born in 1956 in Dongbeigao Village in China's Hebei province. Little is known about his early life aside from the fact that he worked as a farmer in the village and his mother passed away while he was a child. Huang Yanqiu On July 27, 1977, Huang was 21 years old and still working as a farmer. Huang was recently engaged and planned on marrying his fiancee after the harvest season and the couple recently began building themselves a new home. At 10:00 PM Huang had just finished his farm work for the day and went to bed in his unfinished home. That was the last anyone had seen of Huang for a while as the next morning when the village woke up on July 28 Huang was nowhere to be found. The village was greatly alarmed by Huang's disappearance and initiated a massive search effort to try and find him but there was no trace of Huang anywhere to be found. This worried and confused the villagers especially Huang's family as Huang never travelled far and only had a primary school level education. They searched the surrounding roads, ponds, cliffs and other unknown locations to try and find him and even contacted the nearest hospitals and police to ask if any unidentified bodies had been discovered but to no avail. Fortunately, Huang would be found alive and unharmed but this only resulted in more questions. 10 days later on August 6 the village committee received a telegram from Shanghai. The telegram said that Huang was being held at a deportation center and that they were hoping for a local to come and pick him up. The telegram was late to arrive because it was accidentally addressed to the wrong village. There was just one problem, the telegram from Shanghai was dated at 9:AM on July 28 less than half a day after his disappearance. Huang was later returned by the police in Shanghai and it was indeed Huang. There was just one problem, Huang being in Shanghai that soon should've been impossible. Huang was questioned by his fellow villagers and he could not provide an answer. According to him, he went to bed and when at 6:00 or 7:00 AM he was awoken by a loud noise, this noise wasn't that of the farm animals but instead the sounds of vehicles and numerous people. When he fully awoke he found himself on a sidewalk and that around him were cars, neon lights and tall buildings/skyscrapers. He wondered around and saw writing on the various buildings and businesses which said things such as "Nanjing Shopping Center", "Nanjing Restaurant", and "Nanjing Pharma" and that nearby was a large "swimming pool" which he later found out was Lake Xuanwu. It didn't take Huang long to realize that somehow he was in Nanjing the capital city of Jiangsu Province located 485 miles away from his home village. While Huang who was now in complete and utter shock at his circumstance walked aimlessly around the unfamiliar city until he was stopped and approached by two police officers. Huang due to his state of shock and disbelief could barely answer their questions. When they asked Huang what he was doing or who he was he simply said that he was "really lost" the two officers led Huang to the Nanjing Rail Station and gave him a ticket to Shanghai and told Huang that they would be waiting for him and once he arrived he'd be taken to a "repatriation camp" for migrants and those without a hukou document. Huang not knowing what else to do and being in no position to disobey or resist bordered the train. 4 hours later the train pulled into Shanghai station and Huang headed out for the first police station he could find and to his confusion, the exact same police officers from Nanjing were already waiting for him despite being out of their jurisdiction, not boarding the train before him and most of all the train was the fastest method available at the time to travel between the two cities and the officers did not bored the train. Arriving to Shanghai before Huang should be straight-up impossible. The two officers refused to let Huang enter the police station in Shanghai and instead dropped Huang off at the repatriation camp in Shanghai. Huang first told his story to a PLA soldier at the camp named Lü Qingtang and added the detail that the police officers in question were likely from Shandong province based on the ticket he was given. Huang stayed in the camp much longer than expected as when Huang woke up in Nanjing he didn't have any of his identity documents and when the telegrams were sent out to the village to come collect Huang they erroneously addressed them to Xinzhai Village instead of Dongbeigao Village. The confusion was only cleared up after Huang was identified via a birthmark and because the PLA soldier Huang talked to had relatives in the village. As mentioned any questions the villagers had were multiplied as opposed to answered. Huang arriving in Nanjing that soon should be impossible. At the time trains in China were too slow to make such a fast trip. The nearest rail station was in the city of Handan which Huang would've had to find his way to in the dark despite having never even been to Handan before. But even if he did make it to Handan all by himself with next to no money the train would take 1 whole day to reach Nanjing as opposed to the 9-10 hours between when Huang went to sleep and when he woke up. And this is without taking into account the waiting time for the train to arrive at Haidan station and trains were notoriously late back them sometimes even being held back by an entire day and tickets were expensive. Other methods of transportation also wouldn't work out. Planes and civilian aviation travel in China was still very new and of course expensive. The entirety of Hebei Province only had a tiny handful of airports with the closest one being in the north near Beijing located on the complete opposite side of Hebei from where Huang lived. It was deemed highly unlikely for Huang to make the trip there by himself especially as he wouldn't know the way and even if he did somehow make it to the airport there would still be the issue of paying for a ticket. A car also wouldn't work as nobody in Dongbeigao village owned a vehicle and even having a bicycle was considered immensely expensive and outside the means of the villagers. And even if he could use any of these methods it still wouldn't explain the short time as to even get from Dongbeigao village to the nearest city Handan would take 4 hours to drive from the village to the city by car. There was also the question of why Huang would assuming he wasn't lying would do this. Huang had never mentioned Nanjing or Shanghai at any point prior and the fact that leaving their ancestral village and families was frowned upon. How Huang made it to Nanjing in such a short amount of time is unknown but most villagers were prepared to accept it as a strange oddity and move on while others dismissed Huang as lying or bragging about visiting a city. That was until it happened again. On September 8, 1977, it was harvest season in the village again and Huang and his fellow villagers were made to do backbreaking work during a meeting held by the village cadres. At 10:00 PM the head of the village gave Huang and a few other villagers permission to leave and go to bed early as long as they send and deliever manure/fertilizer the next morning. They all took the cadres up on this offer and went to sleep. The next morning on September 9 the villagers arrived at the fertiliser storage area only to notice that Huang was missing. Thinking that he had overslept they all went to his house only to find it empty. Something different caught their eye however, Carved into his bedroom wall was a message and that message said "Shandong Gao Dengmin, Gao Yanjin Relax" Just like the last time Huang was in Shanghai and was quickly sent back to the village on September 11 and this time there were witnesses both in Shanghai and Dongbeigao. A majority of the village witnessed Huang go to his house and sleep before his disappearance the next morning and just like with his first disappearance Huang couldn't explain it. According to Huang, he woke up at The Shanghai Rail Station due to a cold breeze, the same one the two mysterious police officers sent him to. Huang was again startled by his surroundings as it was the middle of the night and according to the Station's clock tower, it was 2:00 AM and as far as Huang could see there were no other people and the only light came from the stars and moon. Not only had Huang unknowingly travelled a far distance in an impossibly short time but he also did it at an inopportune time because along with the darkness Huang was constantly startled by the sound of thunder, lighting and battered by heavy rain and high winds because Typhon Babe had recently made landfall near Shanghai. Huang who was now even more terrified than he was before could only think of Lü Qingtang, Lü was the PLA soldier who helped him after his first trip to Shanghai and was the one who ultimately helped him return home due to his relatives in the village. Lü was not only the only person Huang could think to help him but he was also the only person he knew at all in Shanghai. Finding Lü was not going to be easy as Huang wouldn't be able to navigate Shanghai at all let alone during a typhoon in the middle of the night with no people in sight. As Huang began to walk he heard a voice coming from behind him hearing a man say "Hello there, you must be Huang Yanqiu of Feixiang County. Trying to head to the artillery division?" this shocked him immensely and he quickly turned back to see who this person was. When he turned around he saw two men dressed in military uniforms. They told Huang that they were soldiers belonging Lü's division and were assigned to pick him up from the railway station. Huang followed the men who took various ferries and buses before arriving at the "artillery division" located in what is today the Pudong District. Despite how heavily guarded the area is the guards let Huang and the two men pass without issue. They then went to where Lü lived with his family and they were completely shocked to see them as well as Huang again. Lü however, wasn't home at the time. His wife Li Yuying was surprised that the three were even at their home because according to Li "When a relative comes to visit, they have to show their legal documents and sign in at the gate, we'll then come down and confirm their identities, then they can finally be let in. No way the guards and soldiers would let them in without any proceedings!" and years later Lü's son when questioned about the case would say that the two solider's uniforms looked off, he commented that . "...their uniforms looked quite the ordinary, yet not very fitting, especially their visors. One's shoes and visor are the most important part of the uniform,... their visors were too big, and their uniforms seem to have been borrowed, too." Before his family could question the two they simply walked away and couldn't be found again. Huang being at the base was a major security violation and officials interrogated the guards on duty who all claimed to have never seen Huang and the two soldiers at any point. Once Lü returned home another telegram was sent directly to the head of Dongbeigao Village and they wanted to know every last detail about Huang and who exactly he was with the telegram even straight up asking if Huang was a spy. They received a response from the head of the village, telling them that Huang was just a farmer with no ill intent. Without any other information, the army decided to send Huang back to the village but sternly warned him that he'd be arrested if they ever see him again. He returned home on September 11. In their official reports the military was unable to explain how Huang got to Shanghai so quickly and managed to get into the base. Due to the multitude of witnesses testifying that Huang went to sleep in the village and the military confirming that he was in Shanghai all those who felt that Huang was lying about his travels soon had their doubts erased. Huang became the most talked about resident of the village and not in a good way as he became the main subject of all the local gossip, rumours and of course superstitions. Many thought that he was possessed or haunted with that being the reason for his seemingly supernatural speed and ability to travel such short distances. The constant attention took a mental toll on Huang's fiance who sued his family for 200 yuan due to "reputational damages" and divorced him. This financially and emotionally ruined Huang and it was when he was at his lowest that the third and final incident happened. Huang continued his work as a farmer and labourer for the village and on September 20, 1977, he had finished his work for the day and began walking home. According to Huang, however, so tired that he ended up passing out in the yard in front of his house and went missing again. He would stay missing until September 28 when he was found under a Jujube tree in the village and when asked where he had been he told them about the most extraordinary story yet. According to him, after he passed out in front of his home he woke up and instead of on the sidewalk or in a deserted train station during typhoon season he instead found himself in a luxury hotel room. He looked around and behind him, he saw the same two men from the first two incidents. This time, however, they were both dressed in civilian clothing and introduced themselves. They told Huang that they were brothers from Shandong Province and identified themselves as Gao Dengmin, 26, and Gao Yanjin, 25. Huang also estimated that they were around 170 cm tall. They told Huang that they were the cause behind his disappearances and that they dressed as police and soldiers to help him find his way home, they said that they had something special planned for Huang and that during the next 9 days, they would take him to 9 major cities. Huang asked where he was right now and the brothers told him that it was still September 20 and that he was in Lanzhou located in China's Gansu Province the furthest he has ever been from home. A composite sketch of the two created by the police Soon Huang would learn how he had travelled so far so quickly because the next day on September 21 they made Huang climb onto their back and as Huang would later state "They took off" and quite literally flew away with just their bodies. Huang said that they were "flying" at a low altitude and that he didn't feel any wind, he also recounted that the brothers took turns carrying him on their back. In over an hour, the three had arrived in Beijing. They first went to the Chang'an Grand Theater without tickets and just like at the army base nobody stopped them. They watched an opera performance of Forced Onto Mt. Liang. Their next stop was Tiananmen Square and were in front of a Huabiao. The brothers who were now speaking standard Mandarin instead of their dialects introduced Huang to the surrounding areas and checked into a hotel showing the staff a "provincial-level introduction letter" for registration. That same day they then flew to Tianjin where they snuck into a movie theatre without tickets and watched a movie. On September 22 they arrived in Harbin located in Heilongjiang Province. In Harbin, they visited a department store and then visited Changchun in Jilin Province. On September 23 they went to Shenyang in Liaoning Province. On September 25 they visited Fuzhou in Fujian Province before visiting Nanjing. They spend the next day in Nanjing. On September 27 they visited Xi'an in Shaanxi Province for the Mid-Autumn Festival. Also on September 27, they made their last stop returning to Lanzhou. When Huang went to sleep in their hotel room he woke up under the jujube tree mentioned earlier and was back in Dongbeigao Village They travelled to every city via the brothers flying and according to Huang no matter how close or how far the city was the time it took to get there was always 1 hour. He also noted that the brothers could speak the local dialects of all the provinces they visited and whenever they went to hotels the brothers always had a "provincial-level introduction letter". One of the brothers always watched Huang while the other would borrow clothing such as police or military uniforms from somewhere Huang didn't know. Clothing and yuan for the accommodations and meals were the only items the brothers carried as they didn't seem to own items such as bags and wallets. Aside from their ability to fly to anywhere they wanted and their strange behaviour such as only carrying clothes and money, Huang said that they were seemingly normal human beings in every other aspect and ate and slept like anyone else. They also had the same body temperature as anyone else would The only rules they seemed to have were that Huang was not allowed to photograph them or anything and he couldn't keep any souvenirs from his trips. When Huang asked why they singled him out they wouldn't respond and when he asked if they could teach him how to fly like them or tell him how they learnt to do it they gave a firm "No" as their answer. Just as they had told him in the 9 days he was missing they had visited 9 different cities. A map of his travels Huang was the talk of the village all over again and the superstitions that gods or ghosts were responsible continued. Eventually, the gossip around Huang had gotten to the point that the local police, propaganda department and the nearest military base had heard of Huang's story and began a very extensive investigation into Huang. Offical's believed that he was purposefully sabotaging the village's production and reputation and proceeded to classify him as a "class enemy" While being interrogated his behaviour was found to be "normal" and he showed no signs of mental illness or cognitive disorders. After they were unable to find any evidence of Huang being a threat they reluctantly let him go and revoked his "class enemy" status. Huang's story became well known throughout China and is one of the country's most famous alleged paranormal events and even the government officially declares his case as "unexplained" This is not the end of Huang's story though. On December 14, 2004, the case was reinvestigated by Zhang Jingping, an investigator of the Beijing Branch of the China UFO Association, Ji Jianmin, the chairman of the Feixiang UFO Association, and Dr. Wu, a famous Chinese hypnotist, professor of Peking University Medical Department. There was rather conclusive evidence of Huang's first two incidents as numerous witnesses as well as official telegrams all confirm that Huang had gone to sleep in his home village only to appear in Shanghai but there was far more doubt as to if he had been to any of the cities mentioned during his third disappearance. Huang was put under hypnosis and asked what happened and he told the doctor the same story he did back in 1977. Huang eventually woke up from the hypnotic state claiming that one of the two brothers made him wake up. In 2004 a documentary was made by CCTV and several interviews and tests were conducted during the documentary. He was subjected to a polygraph test and he ended up failing the test and Huang refused to accept these results. Those administering the tests also admitted that Huang's declining memory, the 27-year gap between the test and the incident and the stress of being subjected to such a test for the first time may affect the results. During the documentary, the police based on Huang's descriptions also created composite sketches of Gao Dengmin and Gao Yanjin. Due to the advancement in China's transportation infrastructure, Huang was brought to Nanjing and he was able to retrace his steps and attempt to recreate his journey from the sidewalk to the former then non-existent military base. They then brought Huang to the physiatric division of Beijing Anding Hospital where the lead doctor after reading his statements said that the brothers would've been travelling at supersonic speeds and that Huang had been sleepwalking or lying. Although nobody defended him from claims of sleepwalking his fellow villagers all refused to entertain the possibility that Huang was purposefully lying to them. They cited Huang's lack of motivation or ability to travel, how he travelled to Shanghai in such a short amount of time and how he had no reason to lie about it since telling his story caused him to become a laughing stock and lost him his fiance. Huang quite literally gain nothing from telling this story and it severely affected him negatively. Aside from a lack of evidence others supporting the lying theory state that Huang only claimed to have visited major cities prompting some to speculate that he just picked them out from a map and that oddly enough he never visited Shijiazhuang which is the capital of Hebei, the province that Huang actually lives in. Huang was examined by other psychologists and mental health professionals who deemed Huang to be sane which is the source of the sleepwalking theory. As this theory suggests, Huang was sleepwalking when he made his way to Nanjing and that the stories of the two brothers were just dreams he had while sleepwalking. Various Chinese netizens don't view this theory as credible since Huang while sleepwalking would need to either walk all the way to the train station in Handan (which would take 4 hours to drive to by car) and buy a tick with money he didn't have all while asleep. And while still sleeping once the train stopped in Zhengzhou he would've sleepwalked onto the next train to Shanghai all with nobody noticing he was sleepwalking and waking him up. Just to be sure though doctors performed an MRI scan of Huang's brain and the results came back normal. The third theory is that Huang suffered from multiple personality disorder and that Gao Dengmin and Gao Yanjin were in fact Huang himself and that he just perceived them as different people due to his disorder. The Gao personalities are the ones that actually travel to the locations only for Huang's normal personality to take over once he arrives at the destination hence him waking up. This theory also states that Huang flying on their backs is actually just a fantasy of Huang Yanqiu's repressed personality. This theory doesn't stand up to scrutiny as various Mental Health officials have found Huang sane and that he would've shown signs of multiple personality disorder before and after the three incidents. This theory also wouldn't explain the short travel times and Lü Qingtang's wife and son also witnessing the two as separate people. There is one more theory though it is from those who want to believe that it is all real and that Huang is telling the truth and that UFOs may be involved. They looked further into Huang's claims to try and find any proof that he was in the cities mentioned during his third disappearance. According to one source when describing the weather they matched up with geological data at the time but this appears to be unconfirmed. A journalist went to the Chang'an Grand Theater in Beijing to look through their records and see if they ever held the same performance Huang claimed to have seen. He discovered that the theatre closed due to the 1976 Tangshan Earthquake and wouldn't reopen until 1979 meaning that Huang could not have seen any performances in that theatre. However, there was another theatre nearby named the Jixiang Theater and they were open in 1977 and on September 21, 1977, the day Huang claimed to be in Beijing they held a performance of Forced Onto Mt. Liang. This journalist ruled that Huang hailing from a small and rural village could've easily confused two nearby and similar theatres in an unfamiliar environment such as the major city of Beijing. There are also those who agree that Huang travelled at nearly supersonic speeds but instead have a more terrestrial explanation and that Huang fell victim to military experimentation. This theory states that the military flew Huang to these cities for various experiments and that the Gao brothers were high-ranking officials in charge of the experiments. They then drugged Huang and made him undergo hypnosis to make him forget what he experienced. Many are skeptical of this theory because if the Chinese government wanted to conduct human experimentation they had a myriad of death row inmates and political prisons to draw upon so why instead abduct an innocuous rural farmer from his small village? "The Huang Yanqiu Incident" remains one of China's most infamous unsolved mysteries but as of now, there have been no new developments as a now 67-year-old Huang has opted to live a quiet life in his village away from the cameras. The last bit of news from Huang came from 2008 when he underwent another round of mental evaluations Sources https://baike.baidu.com/item/%E9%BB%84%E5%BB%B6%E7%A7%8B%E4%BA%8B%E4%BB%B6/3270760 http://www.cctv.com/program/zoujinkexue/topic/science/C14443/20050729/100743.shtml http://www.cctv.com/program/zoujinkexue/topic/science/C14443/20050729/100649.shtml http://www.cctv.com/program/zoujinkexue/topic/science/C14443/20050728/102027.shtml http://www.cctv.com/program/zoujinkexue/topic/science/C14443/20050727/102186.shtml https://zhuanlan.zhihu.com/p/27626821 submitted by moondog151 to HighStrangeness [link] [comments] |
On July 27, 1977, Huang was 21 years old and still working as a farmer.
Something different caught their eye however, Carved into his bedroom wall was a message and that message said "Shandong Gao Dengmin, Gao Yanjin Relax"
Just like the last time Huang was in Shanghai and was quickly sent back to the village on September 11 and this time there were witnesses both in Shanghai and Dongbeigao.
One's shoes and visor are the most important part of the uniform,... their visors were too big, and their uniforms seem to have been borrowed, too."
Before his family could question the two they simply walked away and couldn't be found again.

Huang's story became well known throughout China and is one of the country's most famous alleged paranormal events and even the government officially declares his case as "unexplained" This is not the end of Huang's story though.

As this theory suggests, Huang was sleepwalking when he made his way to Nanjing and that the stories of the two brothers were just dreams he had while sleepwalking.
The last bit of news from Huang came from 2008 when he underwent another round of mental evaluations

2023.04.01 12:30 ConstanceKhaos April Fool’s Day breakup for real
My boyfriend (39M) and I (37F) started dating in August of last year. We met the old fashioned way…at a bar; I saw him sitting at a table by himself and brought him a beer and we spent the night talking and exchanged numbers at the end of the night and the rest was just history. He was the first to say he loved me and for the most part he treated me great…better than great even. He would put gas in my car, take me, and even my two kids once, to Wild games, even changed my leg bandages on the back of my leg from a car accident injury for months when we first started our relationship. He even asked to come to one of my appointments when my leg wasn’t seeming to heal. We both loved to watch and talk hockey and spent a lot of time just cuddled up watching movies. Although I had a lot tighter budget than he did, I feel I was equally generous and loving toward him. I made him breakfast in bed once (he complained I left too many dishes though which I did feel bad about and said so after)…I also took him to MN Wild games and would leave him cards and mini bottles or a framed photo or something small whenever I was leaving town or just for no reason whatsoever…even made him little funny but sweet comics of us and snuck them into his lunch cooler or just left them on me kitchen counter for him to find later. Aside from two very large incidents, there wasn’t much to speak of in terms of disagreements. There were little things here and there but I just considered them part of the dance couples do as they learn each other’s quirks and likes/dislikes.
One day, shortly after we discussed becoming “fb official” 🙄, I decided to browse through his profile pics and noticed several of him and his ex wife, even one where he was kissing her forehead. Anyway…He had tagged me in a post and his ex wife had commented on it and it was brought up in conversation privately between just him and I and he immediately asked if I wanted him to delete her and said he would if it bothered me. I said no, that that was not necessary, but I took it as an opportunity to casually mention to him that the profile pics bothered me and asked if he would mind at least changing the privacy to only him since were now together. At first he said he didn’t know how and then kind of belittled me for being bothered by them. I offered to show him how to do it and said it would take less than 5 minutes to do. Anyway…I might have mentioned it a week or so after just briefly and he said he’d take care of it and moved on. I didn’t follow up and hadn’t even looked to see if he had for probably a month or so after I had last mentioned it. I had bought tickets to a Wild game and we were walking to the game and I’m good spirits too when (thinking there’s no way he hadn’t done it by now) decided to look at his profile pics and I was teasing but in a shocked disbelief kinda way and asked if I could just show him since he claimed that was the issue. This set him off and things got serious…the game was up and down for us. It was the first big fight but I feel I was understanding and tried to make light of it a little and just get him to understand why it might bother me. It escalated after the game and got to the point where we both just wanted to let it go for the night. A few days later, I sent him a text asking to discuss some things and he agreed. When I got to his place and started to bring it up again, he immediately blew up and things escalated to the point that I threw my hands up and said “f*** it” and left to sit in my car for a little while but we were still texting and I was really wanting us to resolve things which could have been just him expressing some understanding and empathy for my feelings and not changing the privacy on the pics but, by that time, he had already said he would and he had even offered to block her without my even asking for it prior to that, so it was incredibly frustrating to have him react like this. Anyway…because I stormed off to smoke a cigarette in my car after saying “fuck it” he says he wants nothing to do with me so I asked for my things from his place and say I’d like them now (they literally fit in a small 8x8 box) so I don’t have to make a special trip and he agrees and he handed me the box and quickly slammed the door. I’m not one to want to be with someone who doesn’t want to be with me, so I was on my way. I was a Luke shocked by how quick he was to shut me out but I gave him his space. Before I had even gotten home, he let me know that he was so upset with me that he “figured it out on fb” and that he went in there and “deleted all the pics of her and YOU”. I decided to deactivate my account temporarily out of embarrassment because people had already noticed his profile pic of him and I was gone and I just wanted to not be embarrassed like that (also it’s not unusual for me to take breaks and temporarily deactivate my acct) and I let him know that that was why but said nothing more.
Later that same night, we both cooled off and reconciled and just decided we still wanted to be together and we could put that in the past. He later told me he too had deactivated his account and that he was thinking about making it permanent. I said that I didn’t want to reactivate my account yet because of the questions people had already been asking about things. Another month or so went by with no mention of fb but curiosity got the best of me and i I decided to look at his profile via my daughter’s account. I noticed he had deactivated it but that it still said he was in a relationship with our date but my name was removed because I dedicated the account so I felt good about that but still wanted him to restore our pics but I refused to let it get to me and definitely was not ready to go down that road with him again. And I was glad I hadn’t when, on March 11th, he brought it up and said exactly what I need to hear. He said that he wanted to take some more pics so he could post new ones on fb and even commented that he was happy I took pics from time to time because he had recently been looking for pics of him when he was younger but said there was so few because he refused to take them. Anyway… I understood needing new pics to post and decided to just let him do it at his own pace.
Things were going great. He would even bring up marriage from time to time, saying he had said he never would again but that I made him think otherwise. Anyway….I should also explain that he is a train conductor from out of town (about 6 hour drive from me) and has been living in Minnesota for over a year and we always knew that a time would come where he would be told that they no longer needed him here and he would have to make a decision. I asked if we could prepare for that day by discussing our options ahead of time so it wouldn’t be so overwhelming and he would just assure me that he wanted to stay and that he was looking into how to go about it and him and another guy in the same situation were talking to hr about it, so there didn’t seem to be much need to discuss anything. Even when we went on a recent double date with two of his coworkers, they both pulled me aside and quietly mentioned that he has let people know he intends to stay here with me. The coworkers were facing a similar situation but had already made their intentions clear that what they had was only until that the day came that he went home. Continued…

2023.04.01 12:30 itzrpg Asshole former boss is gonna learn
So i worked for a towing company as a tow truck driver. I kept my truck spotless, kept my uniforms clean, went above and beyond every customers expectations, did everything perfectly. October 13th 2022 i got slammed into on the highway while i was barely moving as i was heading to a car fire and was using an emergency vehicle turn around to get to the burning car so the highway could be reopened. I had all my lights on and police even declared other driver 100% at fault for the crash.
Now heres the fucked up part. The pain in my back started about 2 days later. It was brutal. I needed to take time off work and try to let my back heal. 4 days after saying i needed time off, i was forced to come back because they were short staffed apparently (not my problem but alright, i'll try to help out a bit). I had to work reduced hours with reduced heavy lifting (no tire change calls, no full shifts) as ordered by my doctor. Well, owner decided "lets load him up with all the tire changes and he must work full shifts". I gave him the doctors note(stating i couldnt due to the severity of my injury (cervical spine had shifted and discs were grinding). Well i was determined to follow my doctors orders so i didnt end up in even worse shape. Apparently, thats where i went wrong. The owner called me at 11:15pm while sounding drunk and yelled at me saying "PARK THE TRUCK AT THE YARD! LEAVE THE KEYS AND GAS CARDS IN THE TRUCK AND FUCK OFF AND DONT FUCKING COME BACK!"
Alright fuckface, lets play then. Before bringing his truck to the yard i filed a claim with workers compensatikn board and i filed a complaint against the company with employment standards (if you fick up, they can fine the shit outta a company and they force that company to pay out properly for wrongful dismissals like in my case). Employment standards called me yesterday and they plan to go after the company for alot as this is not the first complaint they've had against them for this type of situation. Company could face about a half a million dollar fine. They will also have to backpay me for every day i shouldve worked from time of wrongful dismissal to the time of the investigation being over. Turns out i'll make over 20 grand on this, the company will be out over a half a million dollars and if they dont comply, their business license wil be revoked, the trucks will all have parking boots on them and the company doors will be chained shut.
Fuck around and find out done properly

2023.04.01 12:29 BadlandBrawl Upcoming changes!
We have listened to all your feedback and have come up with some changes that we think will excite everyone! Let's take a look..........
Revolutions - If you lose at least 10 Brawls in a row, there is a chance your Clones will start a Revolution against the King. If this happens, you are taken to a special PvE Brawl, where the revolutionary Clones will battle against the Clones still loyal to you. If you lose the battle, your King will be dethroned and decapi... Umm, given a new haircut.
- If the revolution is successful, your Clones will organize into a democracy and they will hold an election to choose a new President. You will be unable to use the elected Clone in battles for as long as it acts as the President. There will be new elections each four years.
- Additionally, two democracies are unable to Brawl against each other. In the case that two democracies are matched against each other, neither President may sling any Clones to the arena.
- If you do not wish to transit to a democracy, you can reduce the chances of a Revolution happening by keeping your Clones well fed and well paid. Also, don't eat too much cake.
Badland Savings Bank - The Badland Savings Bank will act as the new last Land after Inferno Night (this is absolutely in no way a social commentary about the position banks hold in the society), and only players who reach the Land are able to use its services.
- You can now apply for loans from the Badland Savings Bank to buy a new Tower or to upgrade it! You will have to pay a monthly interest to the Bank based on the size of your loan.
- You can deposit your Gold in the Bank and receive a modest yearly interest.
New mechanics based on Land and day cycle Each Land now has unique features based on the environment and day cycle:
- Jungle: Clones might get lost, making them unable to participate in the Brawl
- Canyon: Dust storms might rise, obscuring the view and scratching the inside of the screen of your device
- Frozen: If you don't sling any Clones to the bridge for a while, your King/President might freeze over, preventing them from shooting arrows
- Inferno: You will have to keep you Clones cool by periodically dipping you device in water or by blowing to the screen
- Bank: There is a bank vault in the center of the bridge. Please do not rob it.
- Dawn: Your Clones will need some time to wake up before the Brawl, and will shower before they can begin. Please give them some privacy by turning off the screen.
- Noon: You can join your Clones for a tasty meal. Afterwards, you should rest.
- Dusk: You may need to turn on the flashlight in your device to help your Clones see the bridge in the darkening evening
- Night: Clones might start sleeping in the bridge if they feel too tired. Also, you'll have to pay them double salary for night work.
Rune color change You can finally change the color of Runes. Your Clones will be happy to wear Runes matching their favorite colors!
Taxes The King/President has established a Tax Office that will collect 10 % of your Gold from every Egg to help fund the strive against the Replicants.
Clone changes
Carbon Neutrality In an effort to make Badland Brawl carbon neutral by 2030, we've made the following changes to Clones:
- The gasoline motors in Bomb Golem and Doom Golem have been replaced with electric ones
- The excess heat from Bombs will be used to heat the Towers
- The lasers in Mecha Bunny and Laser Bunnies have been changed to more energy-efficient ones
- Magnet has been turned into a Legendary Clone, to reflect its new scarcity as most Magnets are required for building wind turbines
- Players are allowed to use at most one flying Clone per year
- Electromancer is removed from the list of Clones, as she will use her talents to generate clean, renewable energy
- Mind Tick is removed from the list of Clones and will be used to "educate" players about energy-saving methods, instead
A yet-to-be named Clone - We want to release a new Clone without the word "Doom" in it, but we haven't figured out a name yet
Grand Trickster - In addition to drawing Laser Bunnies out of his hat, he can now also pull coins from behind opponents' ears and make roses disappear
Lumberjackie - Fixed a bug that caused her arms to look like tentacles
- Please stop posting screenshots about the bug, we have seen too many of them
Striker Man - Unbeknownst to everyone, Striker Man has been dating Lumberjackie since the night of his graduation party from the Royal Artillery Academy, and they are now announcing their engagement! Consequently, they refuse to fight each other in a Brawl, and will hold hands and gaze into the horizon should they meet on the bridge.
- Check your Inbox for an invitation to the wedding on June 31st!

2023.04.01 12:27 jeraldthunder Servus guys quick question, which one should I go for?
2023.04.01 12:15 taxikicker45 [Spoilers 1079] The Last Road Poneglyph Location/Speculation.
I think it's on Lodestar Island. It's the same Poneglyph that was moved from Fishman Island.
The Former Rocks Pirates and Roger are aware of the significance of the Red Poneglyphs, but by whom or how did they find out? Let's start with the Rocks Pirates they started at Pirate Island and wanted the world's riches, this attracted powerful members with 3 of them later becoming Yonko. They get the answer of how to get to Laughtale…but don’t care(at this point it's a location that promises nothing of value to the crew), they then pillage and murder their way to God Valley(presuming Marijoa comes later), where they meet their end against Garp and Roger. Roger doesn't learn second hand from the Rocks Crew at God Valley he finds out on his own presumably. Roger finds out about the existence of the last island because the log pose goes crazy once he reaches the final Island of Lodestar, he also finds out about the significance of Poneglyphs, in particular the red colored ones. But how? Does a person tell him or is it written down? I think there is a story that we haven’t heard yet that they have, something vague like to reach the final island, you have to seek out 4 large red stones inscribed with text to find it.
Roger then goes around the world, encountering several poneglyphs and taking rubbings to be deciphered later on, Roger was aware of the need of an interpreter for them and just finding the 4 road poneglyphs wasn’t enough. He recruits Oden who can read them and later finds Laughtale. Now Luffy has Robin to read the Poneglyphs and Big Mom had Charlotte Pudding who later on could awaken the ability to read to poneglyphs, now Blackbeard has her. But Big Mom had to have a child with a 3rd-eye tribe member, so where is he or the other tribe members? If they’ve been Lulusia’d then one of the last surviving members had a child and later died. Blackbeard needed Charlotte Pudding specifically because she may be the last known member of her tribe alive similar to King.
Roger tells everyone about the One Piece at his execution and says it's anyones for the taking if they can find it. There is now more significance placed onto Red Poneglyphs, because they take you to the grand treasure left by the Pirate King as well as what the Ancient Kingdom left. I feel as soon as Roger and Whitebeard had their final meeting, Whitebeard moves the Fishman Island Road Poneglyph knowing many will come for it and the strength to stop strong pirates isn’t there. Big Mom had one in her possession, it's unknown where she got it from, she has it before/during Rogers final voyage and he gets it then by sneaking a rubbing from it, Big Mom likely took it from wherever as a trophy or status symbol even if she was unable to decipher it.
After Wano, Shanks and Blackbeard are aware Kidd and Law have Road Poneglyph rubbings and demand them once they meet. Now Blackbeard was on Whitebeard's Crew and Shanks was on Rogers, so they learned the importance of them then. Assuming Blackbeard gets the Zou(Law was there unsure if he got it offscreen)and Wano Rubbings from Law, and we saw Shanks gets the Wano and Whole Cake Island(Killer confirms they get this in chapter 1056) rubbing from Kidd. Also a member of Kidd's crew hands over a stack of rubbings calling it our Road Poneglyph(S).
This puts Blackbeard at 2 Road Poneglyphs, missing the Whole Cake Island one and the other one, unless Shiryu took the Whole Cake one without anyone noticing or a similar deal to how Kidd pirates got theirs. So potentially 3 we know of, if he already had the other one from his days on Whitebeard's crew, then he’s at 4 and heading to Laughtale ZEHAHAHA.
This puts Shanks at 2 Road Poneglyphs from Kidd. Missing the Zou Road poneglyph and the other one.
Currently the Straw Hats have 3 from Zou, Whole Cake Island and Wano. The other one is missing and its whereabouts are currently unknown.
Cross Guild formed only very recently, if Captain John's treasure includes the Road Poneglyph then that will bring them into this. But currently Cross Guild doesn’t have any and are unlikely to get any because the only copies are among the other Yonko right now.
Kidd appeared at Elbaf and Shanks was there too with his Fleet; it may make sense for it to be at Elbaf. But there’s no known connection between Whitebeard and the Giants for him to entrust the Road Poneglyph to them, Whitebeard and Shanks talked before Marineford so he may have disclosed its location to Shanks and Shanks either knows or has moved it. But Shank’s fleet is considered widely weak so maybe he hides a great treasure among his territories, but that's hard to believe. He could have it on the Red Force his Flagship so it's always safe/with him. Blackbeard may know where it is since he was on Whitebeard's crew, but the period after he kills Thatch he loses contact, so if it was moved after that time he wouldn’t know where it is. They aren’t allied with the World Government too and one of the strongest forces in the world so can defend it from outsiders.
If Blackbeard had it, it would have been mentioned when Inuarashi says 2 Road Poneglyphs belong to Big Mom and Kaido, also Marco would know where it is right now he was closest to Whitebeard. The Navy and Weevil went to Sphinx island looking for Whitebeard's treasure and there is no mention of a Road poneglyph from Marco then. If the Payback war took place at the Road Poneglyph location and he obtained it then, Marco should have said something to Shanks or Luffy that he has it, but that didn’t happen. Also there is a point above in this post that mentions he potentially has 4 if everything assumption is right.
The first time we have seen each Road Poneglyph in the current day is when a member of the Straw Hat is near. Zou was by the crew minus Sanji and Jimbei, Whole Cake was by Brook (unsure if it was shown before he got to it) and Wano was by Robin. So in all cases it's the Road Poneglyph itself, they won’t get a rubbing they will see the real deal.
So why Lodestar? It fits some criteria I think are important.
1- It's currently unknown if it's a Yonko territory of either Shanks or Blackbeard. This is the most important point because it can’t be a race to Laughtale between Yonko unless there's one they will all converge on.
2- It's somewhere where Roger has been before.
3- Supporting point for 1 is that it's the last island that the log pose will take you to if you follow it all the way, meaning it's not just a converging point for Yonko but anyone who follows the log pose also means the Marines, Revolutionary Army, Cross Guild and everyone else can reach it. I don’t think the final war will take place at Lodestar, but it has some things going for it. Also its similar to how the worst generation all end up at Sabaody Archipelago.
4- Last Island of the Grandline so it puts them closer to it potentially.
5- Only the strongest pirates and crews can get through the whole grand line, considering you have to go through either Yonko territory or a Marine affiliated country, it's a great filter and very unlikely you ever get there. We only know the Roger Pirates reached it and then Laughtale.
The counterpoints I will add are:
1- Would Whitebeard place such an important object on an island most people won't reach completely unguarded or unaffiliated without a world power of some sort?
2- How will the race start? Probably the most confusing part will be how everyone finds out it's there and will converge to get it. Someone with a mind like Doflamingo/Blackbeard could have Morgans spread it in the paper and put the whole world into chaos. However it's done it will have to involve Morgans and his newspaper to spread it to every world power, I doubt a den-den mushi signal would be picked up by everyone to then race there.
TL;DR - It was moved to Lodestar by Whitebeard because the strong pirates found out about their significance from either former Rocks/Roger crew members and the connection to Laugh Tale. Because only Yonko level crew can truly reach it and it's unaffiliated to anyone so it's ripe for the taking by anyone.

2023.04.01 11:56 TJM-Moritz March Recap!
| In the month of March I saw 13 games. It started with 2 games of some local teams and my local women’s team against the women of the Hamburger SV. Weather has been wild on these games and I attended my first snow game. On the 10th we had a big snowstorm in Germany and I was worrying about my trip by train to Hamburg to finally cross the Millerntor but in the end things worked out. The next day was back to usual to see an unlucky defeat of my favorite team Bremen to Leverkusen coached by Xabi Alonso. The following week I made a short holiday with my girlfriend in Berlin and managed to sneak football in by watching the second team of Hertha BSC losing 0:1 to top of the league side Erfurt. Their supporters created a great atmosphere so that game was absolutely worth it too. Another great atmosphere was at the game between Bremens women team against Cologne in the women’s Bundesliga. Around 2000 people in attendance with a lot of pyrotechnics in use were topped by the important 1:0 win of Bremen in the fight against relegation. What followed was the „Eliteround“ of the U19 European qualifiers. Germany hosted that group next to my hometown so I was able to see them, Belgium, Italy and Slowenia play and try to qualify for the euros that will take place in Malta in the summer. I saw two games from the German team against Italy (2:3) and Belgium (1:1) and the opener from Belgium against Slovenia (0:0) before visiting the final game between Italy and Belgium in a „winner takes it all“ match. In a great match with 3 penalties Italy „won“ and secured the top spot of the group with a 2:2 draw. I’m already excited for April as that month means a lot of Bundesliga and even champions league games for me! submitted by TJM-Moritz to futbology [link] [comments] |
