So i worked for a towing company as a tow truck driver. I kept my truck spotless, kept my uniforms clean, went above and beyond every customers expectations, did everything perfectly. October 13th 2022 i got slammed into on the highway while i was barely moving as i was heading to a car fire and was using an emergency vehicle turn around to get to the burning car so the highway could be reopened. I had all my lights on and police even declared other driver 100% at fault for the crash.
Now heres the fucked up part. The pain in my back started about 2 days later. It was brutal. I needed to take time off work and try to let my back heal. 4 days after saying i needed time off, i was forced to come back because they were short staffed apparently (not my problem but alright, i'll try to help out a bit). I had to work reduced hours with reduced heavy lifting (no tire change calls, no full shifts) as ordered by my doctor. Well, owner decided "lets load him up with all the tire changes and he must work full shifts". I gave him the doctors note(stating i couldnt due to the severity of my injury (cervical spine had shifted and discs were grinding). Well i was determined to follow my doctors orders so i didnt end up in even worse shape. Apparently, thats where i went wrong. The owner called me at 11:15pm while sounding drunk and yelled at me saying "PARK THE TRUCK AT THE YARD! LEAVE THE KEYS AND GAS CARDS IN THE TRUCK AND FUCK OFF AND DONT FUCKING COME BACK!"
Alright fuckface, lets play then. Before bringing his truck to the yard i filed a claim with workers compensatikn board and i filed a complaint against the company with employment standards (if you fick up, they can fine the shit outta a company and they force that company to pay out properly for wrongful dismissals like in my case). Employment standards called me yesterday and they plan to go after the company for alot as this is not the first complaint they've had against them for this type of situation. Company could face about a half a million dollar fine. They will also have to backpay me for every day i shouldve worked from time of wrongful dismissal to the time of the investigation being over. Turns out i'll make over 20 grand on this, the company will be out over a half a million dollars and if they dont comply, their business license wil be revoked, the trucks will all have parking boots on them and the company doors will be chained shut.

Hey everyone! I don't know if this is the correct place to post this but here goes. I will not be using names for safety purposes in case it gets back to anyone who knows us. Back in September 2022 my husband and I moved out to California for his job. Husband's bio dad decided we could stay with him and his wife (hubby's step mom) until I found work, and could get our own place. I left my job to move with hubby as this was a very good opportunity for him. 6 months later, I still don't have a job. Not for lack of trying but I don't have a degree so it makes obtaining work difficult. Hubby's dad decided that 500$ rent for a bedroom was a good price. We agreed to that price when we moved into the room. To clarify we pay for our own groceries, phone bill, car, and misc streaming services, so we pay 500$ for the room and access to the kitchen and bathroom. Dad and his wife help with nothing beyond helping us get a car back in December. Recently (the day of this post) hubby's dad approached him and said he was raising our rent to 650$ because "since we don't have a house or any kids after 11 years of marriage we are not responsible, and that he is trying to teach us responsibility." We've previously only ever lived in apartments. There was no discussion, just a "hey next month is 650." Hubby tried to talk them down, especially since hubby's brother also rents a room with dad and his rent was being raised too. Between hubby and his brother they pay the whole mortgage. Dad eventually started yelling and stated that if we don't want to pay the 650 to just get out. Some insults were thrown my way by dad about my lack of job, and how I apparently don't clean anything (I always clean up after ourselves. I.e. dishes, counters and stove, the bathroom). Hubby and I have decided that moving back to Texas where my mother is would be best, but after some deep brooding (probably not the healthiest thing) I was wondering if we were the assholes for not wanting to pay 150$ more in rent 6 months after moving to California?

I recently purchased a 10,000 lumen flashlight to illuminate the surrounding woods as I walk my dog in the evenings. I have been hearing some strange noises at night, and I figured it would be nice to see everything that boxes me in as I walk Max, my dog. But boy was I wrong. I should have been afraid of what can't be seen outside the veils of my iphone flashlight. What was to be exhumed by my flashlight terrified me to my core. This happened a week or so ago, November, 2nd 2022, Harrison Michigan. The evenings were approaching abruptly now. It was only 8:30pm when I decided to take my golden retriever on one last shit walk before I got settled in for the night. At this time, in rural Michigan at least, it’s pitch black. I cursed underneath my breath as I opened the door and peered out. Fuck, chilly and dark. God, why haven’t I moved south yet? Max was timid this evening, which was so really unlike him. Very strange. The darkness emanating from outside my house poured in like a disease. It was void of any color. Upset about not replacing my porch light, I pulled out my new amazon special, this week it was a 10,000 lumen flashlight. Feeling its expensive metallic body in my hands felt exonerating, and the excitement to use it overthrew any bad vibes Max was giving. He whimpered as soon as the door opened, he then put his tail between his legs and shivered. I scoffed at his weak tendencies here, this was so unlike him. I turned this ungodly bright flashlight on and showed it forward. “For fuck sake look Max, nothing to be afraid of y-” I was cut off. My mouth gaped at what was in front of me. Shown in the powerful beam of the flashlight was a contorted lanky humanoid figure. It slumped down from a standing position and got on all fours like a person miming a frog. Then it jerked its head up and sniffed the air. Animistically. It turned its head and bored its stare right into my eyes. Then it darted into a bush on the edge of the woods. The edge of the woods that surround my entire house. I heard leaves crackle and watched the skin colored creature dissipate into them. I focused the beam of my light directly onto that bush. It was incredibly bright and the bush appeared like high definition from the immense light, especially in contrast to the oily blackness that surrounded me. The bush shaked ominously, like a predator was inside, shifting around. A familiar feminine voice came from that bush. “Please help me… oh god please help… help… help mee…” And the leaves rustled again. Max whimpered in terror and got between my legs. I grabbed the baseball bat that I kept beside the front door for just such occasions and held it beside my head in a “ready to whoop” gesture, the other hand on my flashlight. I shakily started towards the bush from my door. Max bolted inside, leaving me completely alone. “Helllppppp meee” the voice cooed. The soft feminine coo of the voice crackled a little this time. Yeah, almost as if something was masquerading as a female, and luring me in. I was about 6 feet away by now, I could feel the blood pulsating in my temples. Goosh flesh ran down my body. “Helllpp,” deeper voice “Meeee!” An elongated ashy white arm flung towards me at ankle height. I instinctively stomped down on it. It was my dead mothers face there alright, but atop an ashy white skinned humanoid skeleton with backward joints. The arms bent unnaturally opposite of how they should, the legs were bent like a frogs ready to pounce. The eyes were milky white, but were extremely intelligent and they gazed into my consciousness. With all of my force, I horse kicked my deceased mothers face and heard a massive crunch as my heel connected with her masqueraded nose. A profane yelp of pain blasted into the darkness of this B.F.E. where I lived. The grip on my leg loosened just enough from the blow for me to break free. I shot upright and turned to the door. I dropped my flashlight in this madness and couldn’t give a shit less. It could keep it for all I fucking cared. I bolted towards the door, and as I reached the halfway point I was Illuminated by a blinding bright light from behind. Almost like a spotlight beamed right onto me. My. Fucking. God. That thing had my flashlight and was pointing it directly at me. “Helpp… Nathaniel. Help me son.” The light started to bob up and down. Whatever was holding it was lurking closer and closer to me, and was gaining on me much faster than I was to the door. So much for not being able to walk. I ended up winning the foot race miraculously. I jumped inside my door and slammed it behind me. I heard a loud thump into the door immediately following its closure. My mothers late voice came again, beckoning me. “Son. You know your mother has taught you better than this. Let me in. Please, my son.” The light shone through the window at me, blinding me. Seeing spots and now disoriented, I fumbled myself up and managed to lock the door. Max was at the furthest point possible from the door, glaring at the door trembling in fear. Three solid knocks from the top of the door frame. Then the light was gone and I heard a metallic clunk, the thing must have dropped the flashlight on its retreat. The light now was gleaming off a huge tree. I watched a tall skinny humanoid creature with long contorted ligaments jerkily run towards that tree. His legs bent opposite of how our legs do, and same with the arms. Then it bent down in the same erratic way that it moved, and got onto all fours as it approached the tree. It paused a second and peered up the trunk. His head swiftly snapped to my face. Its now black and sunken eyes stared into my soul. I froze in terror as it climbed that trunk, with its face directly bored into me mind you, like squirrel. Scurrying right up it, never leaving contact with my eyes. The light undoubtedly should be blinding his vision, but the sense of intelligence of it knowing my existence was uncanny. Light didnt hurt it. As it ascended it smiled at me, a predatory grin. It disappeared into a purple dot that was still in my vision from when I was blinded by the flashlight. As I moved my head to try to see the creature, I watched tree leaves russell and saw no more of it. Yet. I locked the doors that night and cleaned up Max’s accidents from not going out. At night as I was asleep, I was awoken by my mothers soft voice from right outside the bedroom window. “Let me in Nathaniel..” Then directly following this motherly imitation came a 10,000 lumen flashlight beamed into my face. I cursed underneath my breath as I opened the door and peered out. Fuck, chilly and dark. God, why haven’t I moved south yet? Max was timid this evening, which was so really unlike him. Very strange. The darkness emanating from outside my house poured in like a disease. It was void of any color. Upset about not replacing my porch light, I pulled out my new amazon special, this week it was a 10,000 lumen flashlight. Feeling its expensive metallic body in my hands felt exonerating, and the excitement to use it overthrew any bad vibes Max was giving. He whimpered as soon as the door opened, he then put his tail between his legs and shivered. I scoffed at his weak tendencies here, this was so unlike him. I turned this ungodly bright flashlight on and showed it forward. “For fuck sake look Max, nothing to be afraid of y-” I was cut off. My mouth gaped at what was in front of me. Shown in the powerful beam of the flashlight was a contorted lanky humanoid figure. It slumped down from a standing position and got on all fours like a person miming a frog. Then it jerked its head up and sniffed the air. Animistically. It turned its head and bored its stare right into my eyes. Then it darted into a bush on the edge of the woods. The edge of the woods that surround my entire house. I heard leaves crackle and watched the skin colored creature dissipate into them. I focused the beam of my light directly onto that bush. It was incredibly bright and the bush appeared like high definition from the immense light, especially in contrast to the oily blackness that surrounded me. The bush shaked ominously, like a predator was inside, shifting around. A familiar feminine voice came from that bush. “Please help me… oh god please help… help… help mee…” And the leaves rustled again. Max whimpered in terror and got between my legs. I grabbed the baseball bat that I kept beside the front door for just such occasions and held it beside my head in a “ready to whoop” gesture, the other hand on my flashlight. I shakily started towards the bush from my door. Max bolted inside, leaving me completely alone. “Helllppppp meee” the voice cooed. The soft feminine coo of the voice crackled a little this time. This story happened around 4 months. I really need advice so I'm giving out all the details that's why this is long huhu please bear with me!
I'm bi and I've only dated 1 guy and 1 woman my whole life. My last relationship was way back 2019. It was with a girl, we dated for almost 4 years. I've moved on from that already. Since then I've only done flings of both genders. Never really met someone that clicked. Until some of my friends introduced me to this girl. We met on December 1, 2022. We immediately clicked! I loved her vibe. In less than 24 hours we had sex already. She said she just wants something casual. I agreed since by January 2023, she'll be leaving our town to work 3 hours away from our workplace. I wasn't a fan of long distance relationships so we kind of agreed to be "fuck buddies" until New Year.
It was clear to me that we're only fubu's. My understanding was that we'd only meet for sex and outside of my place we'd be chill. I'm bi and I've only dated 1 guy and 1 woman my whole life. My last relationship was way back 2019. It was with a girl, we dated for almost 4 years. I've moved on from that already. Since then I've only done flings of both genders. Never really met someone that clicked. Until some of my friends introduced me to this girl. We met on December 1, 2022. We immediately clicked! Upon hearing everything, I was triggered. My ex cheated on me in 2018 and at that time, I actually gave him a second chance and we continued the relationship. But my boyfriend now, he’s not like that. He proudly talks about me to his family and friends, he loves to post about me online, and prior to this, he would always remind me that we are committed to each other. He fulfills his promises. I have never felt so loved and appreciated in a relationship, even though, I naturally have bouts of anxiety every once in a while because of my past traumas.
And that’s where I need help with. I’m an incredibly anxious person especially in relationships. I admit that I have attachment and abandonment issues. I told him after all this that I am giving him a chance because 1) it was a mistake committed 3 years ago when he was a teenager, 2) I believe that over the course of those three years, he changed and grew from it (because I have also grew from my toxic behaviors three years ago too so if I can do it, he can do it), and 3) I would like to believe his past doesn’t define him and that I love him for his present and future self.
The whole day we were in tears. We were both so vulnerable. I told him that my trust for him was shaken, like it fell back a few steps. I admitted that for the next few weeks or even months, I will be experiencing more doubts and anxieties than ever and he’ll have to put in more effort to rebuilt that trust and we laid down ground rules for this work. At some point, he started crying because he wish he never did it since it now affected a relationship he genuinely wants to pursue and keep. He fears that we will never go back the way we were. He fears that no matter how hard he tries to rebuilt my trust, I will still doubt him. And thats also my fear.
I know its inevitable for me to feel doubt every once in a while. Even he does! But I don’t want that to be the only feeling I experience in this relationship. There have already been so many good memories in this relationship. My gut feeling tells me this is gonna work out, and possibly, even strengthen our relationship.

And my plan worked. She showed me everything, was nice to me, told me about conversations that they had and a lot more. She knew about everything that my bf and i had done together and it made me feel so disgusting and broken. They would even laugh about my cheerful self and my ignorance. They had huge fights in which my bf almost got physically abusive - she said he would vent his frustrations and stress to her so he could remain calm and collected with me. (He was never abusive in any way to me before, he never even raised his voice at me during fights) He tried to break up with her several times before - one time when i had an pregnancy scare. However, they always got back together almost immediately. Yesterday they broke up for good and she was feeling so guilty she had tell me the truth. To be honest, I couldn't care less about that.... We finished talking 1.5 hours later and i could even convinced her that we could become something like friends so maybe if i need more information i could go back and talk to her more.
Then i drove to my bfs appartement to hear his side of the story. Ofc it was the total opposite. He explained that the first sidestep in October happend bc they were drunk, the second bc he wanted to check if there was sth between them and after that it became a habit. In December he finally noticed that he wanted to spent his life with me and build a future together, but his assistent blackmaild him with the affair, so he had to keep on seeing her. (Btw i do NOT like cheating in any way and we had conversations before that i would leave if he cheats and the other way round) he tried several times to get rid of her affecions for him but failed. I am not dumb and wouldn't belive a single phrase, if i would read that but he was so broken while he told me all of that and it seemed sincere. I have never ever seen him like that before. I said i don't want to break up just yet but i want him to give me space and time to think over all that happend and that he should reflect on his actions and all of the people he hurt through them not just me but our families and friends as well. However, yesterday my world crashed down on me when one of his assistents (21f) (btw I know her and have talked to her sometimes) sent me voice messeges and screen shots of explicit text messeges between my bf and her. She said that my bf and her were having an affair since october 2022 and were seeing each other at least 2 times a week. I was so shocked, but pulled myself together and asked my bf what she was talking about. He assured me that she is just jelous of our relationship and is so in love with him that she is even trying to break us up. We did not fight, it was just a conversation like our ones the day before.
I had to leave for work so i just packed my work stuff and drove to work, but i just couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. I asked the assisent to meet up after work so that i can hear her side of the story and check the texts on her phone to see if they are fabricaded - she agreed. At this time i was still thinking that she was just a really jelous being and she was just trying break us apart because our realtionship was amazing. A Brief Argument for Rapid Movement Growth
I feel that effective altruism has been growing more slowly than is ideal and has the capacity to grow faster. I also feel that faster growth has an extremely positive best-case scenario, and a worst-case scenario that is both highly unlikely and no worse than the status quo. Finally, I feel that rapid growth is highly impactful, highly tractable, and highly neglected, even when compared to other movement-building work, and I believe that rapid growth should be a focus of EA movement-building. Emotions are the signals our body sends us to communicate how we are in relation to the world around us. They enable us to survive, thrive and reproduce.
Emotions can be split into two classes: lower-order and higher-order.
Lower-order are the basic, primal emotions that we share with other animals. These include fear, anger, disgust, joy, and sadness (the ones in Pixar’s Inside Out). Lower-order emotions are involuntary and usually accompanied by physiological changes in the body, such as heart rate, breathing, and muscle tension.

When I (F27) was 18, my first boyfriend dumped me hard. I won’t get into the specifics of the three-year relationship, but trust that it was inappropriate and very toxic (we started dating two days after I turned 15, he was 17, almost 18 at the time). He came to visit me at my college while I was on spring break. About three days into what was supposed to be a week-long trip, he dumped me, changed his flight, and left the next morning. I was alone on campus; all of my friends were gone on vacation. He called the police on me because I was suicidal. He blogged about the experience on his (public) Tumblr shortly after it happened and compared the way I collapsed onto the floor screaming and crying in pain to Nancy Kerrigan’s reaction to being beaten.
The next year, I learned from snooping on his Tumblr that he cheated on me with some girl he met at a party before I lost my virginity to him—something we had talked about at length and planned, because he knew I was a virgin when we met. I was fucking devastated. It destroyed the small amount of progress I had made.
Another year after that, sometime in 2016, in a moment of courage, I found him on Instagram, added him, and told him I knew he cheated on me and otherwise admonished him for being such a terrible person while we were together. I had spent years and years wondering why I wasn’t good enough, what I possibly could have done to deserve being treated the way he treated me, beating myself to a fucking pulp, convincing myself that I was so unworthy and disgusting and fundamentally unsexy, undesirable, and broken. I was so stuck on how unfair life is: that someone could move about this earth so selfishly, so cruelly, hurting people and suffering little to no consequences. Stuck on how some people just get to move on while leaving chaos in their wake. I was still, admittedly, hung up on those feelings when I called him out.
Fast forward to February of this year. We’ve been mutuals on IG this whole time but don’t generally interact and never talk. He got married sometime in 2022. I liked his post of pictures of his wedding. I was drinking one night and in a tipsy, playful mood. I decided to send him a meme that reminded me of the person he used to be, teasing him in the process. A conversation ensued.
What started as a pretty normal conversation—in which he finally admitted he had been continuously cheating on me throughout our entire relationship—so very quickly devolved into an extremely bizarre, degrading, and hypersexual interview. He asked me to let him know if I ever started an OF, admitted he was cruising camming sites for months after we broke up looking for any sign of me. He told me I was responsible for this and that fetish he still has to this day, was asking me for details about my various sexual pursuits since we broke up, my current sexual preferences. Kept offering information about his and his wife’s sex life that I absolutely did request. He bragged about having never needed therapy after I joked (but of course truly meant) I’d be in therapy forever in part because of him. He told me I’m the coolest person he’s ever known and that he’ll be grateful forever that we will always have a shared experience.
And in that moment, I realized, sometimes closure isn’t this big, cinematic moment of revenge that some of us fantasize about. Sometimes, closure is realizing that 10 years after the fact, while you were growing, healing, figuring life out, and fighting to be the best person you can possibly be, that other person hasn’t grown at all.
I’m going through another breakup of sorts, this time with a person (M48) who was very cruel and selfish and, unfortunately, similarly sexually degrading. The difference this time, however, is that I have the perspective to know none of his behaviors are a reflection of me. None of this has anything to do with how beautiful I am, how desirable, fun, sexy, intelligent, and perceptive (all words he used to describe me, and I’m in complete agreement with him). And while I may be ruminating a bit too much on fantasies of revenge and of getting the closure I want, the logical voice inside my knowing heart says to me: there is a reason this gentle, yet pitifully broken man is 48 and alone.
You are wonderful just as you are, and you don’t need closure to come to know it. I know it hurts, it hurts like fucking hell sometimes, but keep that beautiful heart soft and receptive. You have no idea what kind of love awaits you.

- iPhone 6S (November 2017-November 2020): my cousin's daughter (17F) upgraded from the 6S to the 7 Plus, along with both her parents (55M, 53F) not only due to the family switching from T-mobile to Verizon but also due to her cracking my old iPhone 6S, which caused her parents not only to replace the screen but also the battery)
- iPhone 7 Plus (November 2020-March 2022): my cousin (53F) received my iPhone 11 Pro Max, but since the iPhone 6S fell off my bike mount a month before, it cracked, and since the battery is so horrendous on the 6S, my cousin (53F) decided to give me her iPhone 7 Plus and I decided to take the 6S to the Apple Store in Cambridge MA to recycle it
- iPhone SE (2020) (since March 2022): Even though my cousin, and later I took very good care of the iPhone 7 Plus, the phone started breaking down on several fronts: the silent switch, charging port pins, and even battery started to die hard, and plus, since the phone is getting unsupported, I started deciding on the iPhone SE. After finding out the iPhone SE 3 was $429 and finding out I could get a prepaid iPhone SE 2 on AT&T for $150 ($50 plan+$15 activation fee but I cancelled auto pay immediately after buying the phone), I got the brand-new SE 2 instead. Nowadays, the battery started to fall apart (even though the battery is currently at 93% capacity) and even though this phone is not in a beta, there are a lot of bugs even on 16.3.1 (I am thinking of updating to 16.4 tonight)
Things my Samsung Galaxy does better than my iPhone
There are many things that Samsung Galaxy phones and other Android phones do better than iPhones, including the fact that on Android:- notifications are not cluttered in the lock-screen unlike on iOS
- Android is more customisable than iOS and Android is an open-source mobile operating system
- Many new features such as reverse wireless charging, in screen fingerprints, foldable phones, 5G, triple camera setup, phablet size phones,
- there is a real back button on Android
- No need to use iTunes; you could just transfer music and photos/videos between your computer and phone without the hassle of iTunes
- Some Samsung Galaxy phones (S1-S20 excluding the S6/Note5) have microSD and older Samsung Galaxy phones have removable batteries
- Some Samsung Galaxy phones in certain markets have dual sim support, but since e-SIM was introduced, first with the Pixel 2, and later with the iPhone XS, dual sim is less of an advantage
- There are a lot of options, including the M/J series for budget conscious buyers, the A series for the average folk in many countries, the S/Note series for power-users, business users for extra productivity (mostly the Note series) and phone enthusiasts (like me), and the Z series for certain business users for extra productivity and for Flexers
- On my Samsung Galaxy devices, I could share the Wi-Fi password to other phones using the QR code; on iPhones, I could only share the Wi-Fi connection with other iPhones
- Samsung Galaxy devices support split screen view and pop up view, but these two features are restricted to the iPad, and iPhones only support picture in picture video
- iPhone batteries start to massively degrade after a new iPhone and iOS version comes out
My iPhone 12 Pro Max (I got rid of it in December of 2021 after it accidentally fell out from my nightstand drawer and the back cracked a month before) started seeing its battery fail sometime in September 2021, when the 13 Pro Max came out. Say I leave the house at 10:00 and were to return home at 19:00. By 17:00, with medium usage + hotspot, the iPhone's battery would have depleted to around 20 percent. Plus, my iPhones typically consume more battery if devices are connected to hotspot than my Samsung Galaxies are.
Also, I did receive the Galaxy S7 Edge (2019), Samsung Galaxy S9+ (earlier this month as my cousin's husband upgraded to the S23+), and the Samsung Galaxy S10+ (last year), and given that I would sell these phones on the second hand market, I would test the phones for a week or two to see the phone's condition before assessing it and selling it on the second hand market. What I found is that even though the S10+ cracked and therefore, I donated it rather than sold it, all three phones seem to have solid battery, considering their ages. The S7 Edge with its 3600 mAh battery under heavy use after 3 years would go about for 6-8 hours before needing a recharge, and my S9+ would go about for around 5-6 hours as well before hitting down to 20% of battery (that is after 5 years and given the fact my cousin's husband is a power user), and even though the S10 cracked, it would go for 8-10 hours under heavy usage before draining to around 20%. I also got back my Note5 from 2015 once my cousin's son upgraded to my cousin (50M)'s S8 Active in 2019 once my cousin upgraded to the Note10+, and even on that phone, the battery is still very good considering its age and its 3000 mAh size, doing around 4-6 hours going down from 100-20.
- My Samsung devices have proven more reliable as a whole than many of my iPhones
Fun fact, my cousin (28M) switched from the iPhone 7 Plus to the Samsung Galaxy S10+ in March of 2019 and is now currently using a Galaxy S23 Ultra. From his 4-year long experience using just the Galaxy S10+ (he bought the ceramic colour with 512GB of storage and currently his father is using the S10+), even though he is a power user with him customising the phone with themes, being a heavy user, and having cracked his S10+ last year, the phone was still extremely reliable, working fully as intended, apart from the battery, which has been shortened to 6 hours of heavy usage before dying.
My iPhones however, were not so bright. Even though pre-2015 iPhones are mostly reliable during my time using it, since the 6S, there have been some phones which have showed issues here and there, sometimes within the first year of ownership. As for the iPhone 6S, it is basically only the battery, which has been extremely bad after a year and the fact it would sometimes shut off at 30% during cold weather.
Starting with the iPhone 7 Plus however, and there started to be a lot of problems. Even though my iPhone 7 Plus didn't show any problems during my ownership, even though my cousin took good care of the 7 Plus, when I got her 7 Plus in November of 2020 (she got the phone brand new at Verizon in November 2017), the silent switch started to wear down and get stuck, meaning it is hard to turn on silent switch, the charging port pins started to wear, making it very hard to charge the phone or connect the phone to the computer, and the battery started to struggle real hard.
Starting with the iPhone XS Max and there started to be real struggles. Even though I didn't see any problems with either the iPhone XS Max and 11 Pro Max during my ownership and took good care of these two phones, when these two phones got passed to their second owners, problems started to arise. For the XS Max, in May of 2020, it got bricked, and it wouldn't turn on even if he plugged it in the charging cable or through iTunes, and my cousin's husband had to bring it to service, and that got him to purchase an S20+ given he prefers Android over iOS, and after fixing the XS Max, he gave it to his daughter (17F), who is his only child. For the 11 Pro Max however, the phone's battery drained fast and my cousin always had to rely on the charger, and plus, there are issues of connecting Bluetooth devices as well as with calls and volume whilst connected to Bluetooth devices, and my cousin always complained about these issues and even though I did attempt to fix, the issues didn't get resolved (I am tech savvy by the way, so I could get through a lot of issues, such as reset my bricked iPad using iTunes, etc.).
And now onto my iPad Pro 9.7. I bought the iPad in June of 2016, and even though I used it mostly for watching YouTube videos, Udemy and edX courses, the iPad started having a bricking issue in November of 2017. What happened was that I was charging and overnight, the iPad just shut itself off and never powered on again. I tried connecting it to iTunes and even though iTunes could recognise the device, whenever I reset it, errors keep on popping up and it is impossible to reset. I tried bringing it to the Apple Store, but they couldn't reset it either and they suggested that I replace the iPad Pro 9.7 with an iPad Mini 4 for $300. Then, I started taking matters into my own hands and finally resetted the iPad Pro successfully after multiple attempts in January of 2018. Four months later (in May 2018), the iPad bricked again, and I had to do the same process, and it took until August of 2018 after at least 5-10 tries for it to work again. And then in August 2020, whilst charging overnight, the iPad turned off and I thought it was toast. Turned out it was, as after countless times diagnosing the issues on iTunes, the iPad would keep on bricking after multiple reset attempts and after more than 2 years. Then, there was a miracle. In November of 2022, I finally got my iPad working again and I felt like I was very lucky, because I thought that the iPad was bricked forever and wouldn't go back on, ever.
Then, finally, it is my iPhone 12 Pro Max. I bought the phone on 20 November 2020, and by mid-September 2021, things started to go south for this phone. The top speaker started to fail and even though I cleaned it, the speaker was so muffled that I could barely hear anything from the top speaker. I brought it to the Apple Store and they said it is a digitiser issue and they couldn't even clean it for me, and around that same time, the touchscreen started to act up. With a lot of ghost touches, it started to become very hard to use the iPhone (and keep in mind, I have never replaced the screen since I never cracked the front screen). In October 2021, the phone started to have lose cellular signal when I enter the MBTA train and still didn't recognise cellular signal for minutes after I exited the MBTA and was at least a mile from that station on my bike, but luckily, resetting network settings did fix the issue with the cellular signal however. By the time the phone accidentally fell to the ground and the back did suffer some cracks in November, I started to give up on the iPhone 12 Pro Max and in December, I upgraded to the 13 Pro Max.
Even though my Galaxy Buds and my cousin (28M)'s Galaxy Buds did not show any issues (he bought the Galaxy Buds in March 2019 and after heavy usage, it still held up very well and he even gave it to his father), all 4 of my AirPods, even the AirPods Pro 2, have shown issues here and there. My first AirPods (January 2017-July 2018) basically stopped working, and hence, I bought another pair of AirPods in July 2018 and used it until February 2022, when I dropped it in the toilet. Even though I was using the 2nd pair of AirPods half the time (July 2018-January 2020, December 2020-April 2021, November 2021-February 2022), by late 2021, the AirPods started showing major problems. First off, the battery drains so fast even indoors that it only lasted about an hour. Then, once I am outside, the right side would disconnect after only 5 minutes of usage and the left side would keep soldering on. Once it fell to the toilet, it was game over (however, I still kept the AirPods, it is just in the nightstand sitting there, and I did clean it as well). I bought the AirPods 2 in February 2022, and after 2 months, at least once every week or two, the right side would discharge, even in the case (the case is clean by the way), until it went out of battery. I tried resetting the case and putting the case to charge again, but to no avail, and it took several reset attempts for it to return to normal. The same exact scenario happened to the AirPods Pro 2, which I got in October as my cousin wanted to gift me the AirPods Pro 2, in exchange for my AirPods 2. Except that sometimes, my iPhone 14 Pro Max couldn't even connect to the AirPods Pro 2 or even recognise it.
- Hotspot doesn't always work on my iPhones, but always does on my Galaxy
For my iPhone 14 Pro Max and previous iPhones (iPhone 13 Pro Max, iPhone 12 Pro Max, etc), personal hotspot is very buggy. My Samsung connects just fine to the iPhone hotspot, but my iPhones don't. To preserve the battery, after several minutes, the iPhone SE would get disconnected from the iPhone 14 Pro Max hotspot (which is acceptable), but it gets worse. Even if I am currently streaming Apple Music on my iPhone SE with the screen on as well, the iPhone would disconnect from the iPhone 14 Pro Max, and it is very hard to connect it to hotspot. Sometimes, the iPhone SE would say 'Unable to join network' and others, it said 'Personal Hotspot Failure', which would force me to restart both the iPhone SE and 14 Pro Max. Now the Remote Hotspot Failure started happening since I got the 11 Pro Max in 2019, and at the time, my 16:9 phone was the iPhone 6S, and even then, there were hotspot failure problems. I restarted the 11 Pro Max, but the hotspot failure would return after a week or two. Even after resetting network settings in 2021 right before my 13 Pro Max because my iPhone 12 Pro Max would lose cellular connectivity even after I exited the MBTA tunnel and I am outside a mile from the MBTA station, once I got my 13 Pro Max, the remote hotspot failure still appears. My Samsung Galaxy over the years connects to the iPhone hotspot without any issues, and would stay connected even if I am not using the phone until I basically turn off hotspot on my iPhone.
Now due to the fact connecting my iPhone SE to the iPhone hotspot is so bad, I would typically use the Samsung hotspot as a backup (keep in mind my iPhone plan gives unlimited hotspot whilst Metro only gives 5 GB). Both iPhones connect to the Samsung hotspot flawlessly, without any issues.
- On my Samsung Galaxy phones, I can disable Wi-Fi using the Quick Settings (swipe down) menu, but for iPhones, it is less consistent
- Connecting to Bluetooth devices is better on my Samsung Galaxy phones than my iPhones
- Apple Pay sometimes doesn't work on my iPhone
Yesterday, I was at the MBTA station, and I was attempting to pay for the Monthly pass. Ironically, even though the reader did work, the iPhone 14 Pro Max kept on saying 'Hold near Reader', and even though I held it near the mobile payment reader for 10-15 seconds, it still didn't do anything. Fed up, after the second time, I repaid the MBTA ticket and used my S22 Ultra and the payment did go through. However, at the restaurant around 1 hour later, even though I didn't restart the iPhone, Apple Pay finally worked again as I was able to pay my meal using Apple Pay.
- Automatic updates are better on my Galaxies than my iPhones
- Wi-Fi is far better on my Samsung Galaxy/Android phones than my iPhones, iPads, or Macs
Fun fact: the Galaxy S21 Ultra was the first phone to offer Wi-Fi 6E and not even the iPhone 14 Pro Max supports this feature
Then in July 2022, during a flight from Dallas back to Boston, my iPhone 13 Pro Max and iPhone SE 2 would fail to connect to JetBlue's Wi-Fi network several times and if connected, the Wi-Fi was painfully slow and near unusable whilst my Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra connected to JetBlue's Wi-Fi network just fine and worked as expected, with websites loading reasonably quick, just like at my university with the S21 Ultra.
- USB C lasts longer than lightning connector
TL;DR: Even though there are many benefits to owning an iPhone over an Android device, based on my user experience, after over 11 years of using various Samsung Galaxy phones, two Samsung Galaxy Tabs, and one Galaxy Bud and after over 12 years of using various iPhones, iPads, Apple Watches, and AirPods, I could safely assure that there are a lot of benefits to using Samsung and Android products over iPhones, namely due to the fact that notifications, customisation, features, options, Wi-Fi, multitasking, batteries, hotspot, Bluetooth, mobile payment, etc., are better on Samsung and Android products than on iPhones, based on my user experience.

- iPhone 6S (November 2017-November 2020): my cousin's daughter (17F) upgraded from the 6S to the 7 Plus, along with both her parents (55M, 53F) not only due to the family switching from T-mobile to Verizon but also due to her cracking my old iPhone 6S, which caused her parents not only to replace the screen but also the battery)
- iPhone 7 Plus (November 2020-March 2022): my cousin (53F) received my iPhone 11 Pro Max, but since the iPhone 6S fell off my bike mount a month before, it cracked, and since the battery is so horrendous on the 6S, my cousin (53F) decided to give me her iPhone 7 Plus and I decided to take the 6S to the Apple Store in Cambridge MA to recycle it
- iPhone SE (2020) (since March 2022): Even though my cousin, and later I took very good care of the iPhone 7 Plus, the phone started breaking down on several fronts: the silent switch, charging port pins, and even battery started to die hard, and plus, since the phone is getting unsupported, I started deciding on the iPhone SE. After finding out the iPhone SE 3 was $429 and finding out I could get a prepaid iPhone SE 2 on AT&T for $150 ($50 plan+$15 activation fee but I cancelled auto pay immediately after buying the phone), I got the brand-new SE 2 instead. Nowadays, the battery started to fall apart (even though the battery is currently at 93% capacity) and even though this phone is not in a beta, there are a lot of bugs even on 16.3.1 (I am thinking of updating to 16.4 tonight)
Things my Samsung Galaxy does better than my iPhone
There are many things that Samsung Galaxy phones and other Android phones do better than iPhones, including the fact that on Android:- notifications are not cluttered in the lock-screen unlike on iOS
- Android is more customisable than iOS and Android is an open-source mobile operating system
- Many new features such as reverse wireless charging, in screen fingerprints, foldable phones, 5G, triple camera setup, phablet size phones,
- there is a real back button on Android
- No need to use iTunes; you could just transfer music and photos/videos between your computer and phone without the hassle of iTunes
- Some Samsung Galaxy phones (S1-S20 excluding the S6/Note5) have microSD and older Samsung Galaxy phones have removable batteries
- Some Samsung Galaxy phones in certain markets have dual sim support, but since e-SIM was introduced, first with the Pixel 2, and later with the iPhone XS, dual sim is less of an advantage
- There are a lot of options, including the M/J series for budget conscious buyers, the A series for the average folk in many countries, the S/Note series for power-users, business users for extra productivity (mostly the Note series) and phone enthusiasts (like me), and the Z series for certain business users for extra productivity and for Flexers
- On my Samsung Galaxy devices, I could share the Wi-Fi password to other phones using the QR code; on iPhones, I could only share the Wi-Fi connection with other iPhones
- Samsung Galaxy devices support split screen view and pop up view, but these two features are restricted to the iPad, and iPhones only support picture in picture video
However, there are many lesser-known things that my Samsung Galaxy phones do better than my iPhones (based on my experience over the past 11 years), and some might be controversial:
- iPhone batteries start to massively degrade after a new iPhone and iOS version comes out

Even if I am currently streaming Apple Music on my iPhone SE with the screen on as well, the iPhone would disconnect from the iPhone 14 Pro Max, and it is very hard to connect it to hotspot. Sometimes, the iPhone SE would say 'Unable to join network' and others, it said 'Personal Hotspot Failure', which would force me to restart both the iPhone SE and 14 Pro Max. Now the Remote Hotspot Failure started happening since I got the 11 Pro Max in 2019, and at the time, my 16:9 phone was the iPhone 6S, and even then, there were hotspot failure problems. I restarted the 11 Pro Max, but the hotspot failure would return after a week or two. Even after resetting network settings in 2021 right before my 13 Pro Max because my iPhone 12 Pro Max would lose cellular connectivity even after I exited the MBTA tunnel and I am outside a mile from the MBTA station, once I got my 13 Pro Max, the remote hotspot failure still appears. My Samsung Galaxy over the years connects to the iPhone hotspot without any issues, and would stay connected even if I am not using the phone until I basically turn off hotspot on my iPhone.
Now due to the fact connecting my iPhone SE to the iPhone hotspot is so bad, I would typically use the Samsung hotspot as a backup (keep in mind my iPhone plan gives unlimited hotspot whilst Metro only gives 5 GB). Both iPhones connect to the Samsung hotspot flawlessly, without any issues.
- On my Samsung Galaxy phones, I can disable Wi-Fi using the Quick Settings (swipe down) menu, but for iPhones, it is less consistent
- Connecting to Bluetooth devices is better on my Samsung Galaxy phones than my iPhones
- Apple Pay sometimes doesn't work on my iPhone
Yesterday, I was at the MBTA station, and I was attempting to pay for the Monthly pass. Ironically, even though the reader did work, the iPhone 14 Pro Max kept on saying 'Hold near Reader', and even though I held it near the mobile payment reader for 10-15 seconds, it still didn't do anything. Fed up, after the second time, I repaid the MBTA ticket and used my S22 Ultra and the payment did go through. However, at the restaurant around 1 hour later, even though I didn't restart the iPhone, Apple Pay finally worked again as I was able to pay my meal using Apple Pay.
- Automatic updates are better on my Galaxies than my iPhones
- Wi-Fi is far better on my Samsung Galaxy/Android phones than my iPhones, iPads, or Macs
Fun fact: the Galaxy S21 Ultra was the first phone to offer Wi-Fi 6E and not even the iPhone 14 Pro Max supports this feature
Then in July 2022, during a flight from Dallas back to Boston, my iPhone 13 Pro Max and iPhone SE 2 would fail to connect to JetBlue's Wi-Fi network several times and if connected, the Wi-Fi was painfully slow and near unusable whilst my Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra connected to JetBlue's Wi-Fi network just fine and worked as expected, with websites loading reasonably quick, just like at my university with the S21 Ultra.

TL;DR: Even though there are many benefits to owning an iPhone over an Android device, based on my user experience, after over 11 years of using various Samsung Galaxy phones, two Samsung Galaxy Tabs, and one Galaxy Bud and after over 12 years of using various iPhones, iPads, Apple Watches, and AirPods, I could safely assure that there are a lot of benefits to using Samsung and Android products over iPhones, namely due to the fact that notifications, customisation, features, options, Wi-Fi, multitasking, batteries, hotspot, Bluetooth, mobile payment, etc., are better on Samsung and Android products than on iPhones, based on my user experience.

I am currently mourning the end of my spring break. It’s been great. I haven’t done much but I’ve been able to clean and run errands and just rest for the last week.
I had a realization that I’m not actually lazy and I really just have that little energy to do anything even the least bit mentally taxing when I’m teaching. I’ve been unable to get myself to keep my room clean and to wash my dishes immediately after using them. This week I could clean and actually keep my space clean, as well as do the dishes immediately instead of letting them just sit there. Definitely eye opening and it makes me feel better 😂
Any tips on how to make it these next eight weeks? Once we go back on Monday, it’s a straight shot to the end of the year (we get out the last Friday in May) with zero days off. I’ve used up all my PTO, so scheduling days off is not an option, unfortunately.

My partner and I met in an event in October 2022 and went on dates until we became official in early March 2023. He has been my most loving and caring relationship. Despite some challenges (mostly from external circumstances like schedules & family dynamics) - we are pretty compatible and we choose each other everyday.
Yesterday, he messaged me randomly and said if he can talk about something he did in the past. We met up and told me that he cheated on his ex before, 3 years ago, when he was 17. He explained that it was his first relationship and he wasn’t really sure what to do in it, and because he was pretty young at that time, the girl that was flirting with him convinced him that what they were doing (sexting) was okay. At the same time, he and his ex weren’t compatible and didn’t even develop a strong friendship in the first place. Eventually he told his ex and they broke it off. Since then, the guilt and regret eats him up. He said he’d never do it again because the pain he inflicted on his ex felt very wrong to him.
He was going to tell me at some point. But the main reason why he told me about the incident was because he dreamt the night before that he cheated on me and I left him. The feeling of me gone really shattered him and he woke up scared. Because of that dream, he felt like he had to come clean, even if that would mean there was a possibility I would leave him.
Upon hearing everything, I was triggered. My ex cheated on me in 2018 and at that time, I actually gave him a second chance and we continued the relationship. Yet, even after, he still exhibited behaviors that felt like he would cheat on me. My ex wouldn’t post about me because he wanted to look single, he suggested we do an open relationship, he requested he wanted threesomes, and he even messaged my friend telling her she was cute and stuff. That was my ex.
But my boyfriend now, he’s not like that. He proudly talks about me to his family and friends, he loves to post about me online, and prior to this, he would always remind me that we are committed to each other. Whenever we have a misunderstanding, he initiates we talk it out and make sure both parties are okay. When I call him out on something, he actually acknowledges it and does better. He fulfills his promises. I have never felt so loved and appreciated in a relationship, even though, I naturally have bouts of anxiety every once in a while because of my past traumas.
And that’s where I need help with. I’m an incredibly anxious person especially in relationships. I admit that I have attachment and abandonment issues. I told him after all this that I am giving him a chance because 1) it was a mistake committed 3 years ago when he was a teenager, 2) I believe that over the course of those three years, he changed and grew from it (because I have also grew from my toxic behaviors three years ago too so if I can do it, he can do it), and 3) I would like to believe his past doesn’t define him and that I love him for his present and future self.
The whole day we were in tears. We were both so vulnerable. I told him that my trust for him was shaken, like it fell back a few steps. I admitted that for the next few weeks or even months, I will be experiencing more doubts and anxieties than ever and he’ll have to put in more effort to rebuilt that trust and so we laid down ground rules for this to work. At some point, he started crying because he wish he never cheated before since it now affected a relationship he genuinely wants to pursue and keep. He fears that we will never go back the way we were. He fears that no matter how hard he tries to rebuilt my trust, I will still doubt him. And thats also my fear.
I know its inevitable for me to feel doubt every once in a while. Even he does! But I don’t want that to be the only feeling I experience in this relationship. There have already been so many good memories in this relationship. My gut feeling tells me this is gonna work out, and possibly, even strengthen our relationship.
I just have fears that what if it happens again. It doesn’t help that people consistently shove down people’s throats that ‘once a cheater, always a cheater’ - of course, that does happen, but in some cases, people do actually change. These are my notes on the farm system for the casual fan.
AAA - bats
Loftin, Gentry, Garcia are the three batters to watch out for. KC has a nice stable of Short Stops that have flexibility to play a few other positions. Big year for all three to find a way to get up to the majors for anything longer than to replace a player on the 10 day IR. Pratto and Fermin have already seen significant time in the majors. Pratto has to get his K% down and it feels like it's his last year to prove it before we figure out a way to move on for him. And I might be generous at that.Samad Taylor is another piece and would probably see the Majors faster if he wasn't behind Loftin / Garcia. Logan Porter, CJ Alexander, and Tucker Bradley both have talent but not a real pathway to the majors like the others.
AAA - pitchingThere's names that you'll recognize Max Castillo, Josh Staumont, Jackson Kowar, Andres Nunez, Jonathan Heasley. All not making the 26 man lineup for a variety of reasons.Josh Taylor is coming back from Tommy John and might be slowly put back into the Royals 26 man lineup around June/July. Ryan Weiss had a ton of momentum in his final few Spring Training games. Finally there's Evan Sisk who we got from the MAT trade who is older but only 30 innings into playing in AAA.
AAA Overall - I don't expect a ton of players to be promoted to AAA like last year and I don't expect that many players to be sent up (barring injury). Not that it's vital to anyone reading but the team itself will win games based on the fact that you have pitching that is veterans to AAA by now.
Similar to last year Dayton & JJ simply didn't put the Royals in position to have a young arm that is going to crack the rotation from AAA this year.
KC needs to figure out what the long term plan for Jackson Kowar and Jonathan Heasley is. To be frank, there's not one player on this roster that I feel like will be a starting 5 rotation guy. Even with Castillo, I think he's best if he comes back as a Long Relief guy. But could see him starting a couple of games if we need it next year.
AA Pitching - I rank what happens in AA pitching at the top of priorities for the Royals this year. MLB + Minor League. This is almost like a film that the studio decides to be split in two movies, because the truth is that 2023 will likely end with a Cliffhanger for all of these characters at best.
The aftermath of JJ/Dayton blowing up the core of Royals from last offseason involved a swift change to focus on Minor League Bullpen prospects that would mix in with prospects that we already had.
Andrew Hoffman, Steven Cruz (a closer we got from the MAT trade), Beck Way (technically still in A+ getting more SP chances but will likely be a RP once he gets to AA) , TJ Sikkema, Jacob Wallace, Christian Chamberlain, Will Klein, Chandler Champlain are names that you'll hear in AA this year. All of them have the same mission. Increase K% and lower BB%.
KC has Brian Sweeney who did amazing stuff with bullpen pitchers but this should definitely be seen as the first hour of cooking a brisket as many of these players haven't seen much time in AA AND with Q coming from Tampa , they really like to keep pitchers in the Minors until everything is there to come up. There's no speed rushing anyone up to the majors.
From a starting perspective we have Jonathan Bowlan coming back from injury for the first few months. And Alec Marsh, a fan favorite, but had inconsistent stats at times. Bowlan and Marsh are really the two guys I could see called up to AAA at the very least.
The bullpen arms I don't expect any movement up until mid 2024.
AA Bats - Luca Tresh is AAA ready but the Royals probably want him taking reps in AA + work with the pitchers. I could also see Hayden Dunhurst coming up quickly to be here as well. Robbie Glendinning performed really well last year and had a great show of RBIs.
I think there's going to be a ton of call ups to AA.
AA Overall - Andy LaRoche and Larry Carter are in AAA this year. LaRoche was the Quad Cities Hitting Coach and was pretty effective. Larry Carter was actually the bullpen coach in Kansas City last year under Cal Eldred. He's been with the organization for decades and the organization retaining to ship him down to AA shows how much he'll be working on converting prospects into Bullpen pitchers. My guess is that unless a player is somehow magical , everyone will start in Mid-Relief and slowly become a start in this system.
It might not be what he'd want to hear but Robbie Glendinning is a coach's son and a future coach - either in the US or in Australia. He'll be great when some of our 2022 draft picks rise up.
A+ Pitching - Beck Way starts in Quad Cities but I think he'll be moving to AA fairly soon.
Noah Cameron was by far the best stat performer in the Royals Minor League system last year. But we only saw him in A+. Big year incoming for him.Like Noah Cameron, William Fleming (who was the key part of the Carlos Santana trade) was also a player that we traded for that looks surprisingly nice. Low BB rate but could increase his K%. Anthony Simonelli had a solid K/BB rate and could be a sleeper as well.
A+ Batting - Peyton Wilson is a 2nd rounder from Alabama that performed well last year and is in that scrum. There's also River Town who had a great summer last year. Tyler Tolbert is a basestealing machine who can also play defense. I'm mostly curious if we try him out at center field a bit more despite being on the fringe of 6'0.
A+ Overall - I think the biggest part of A+ will some of the college arms we drafted being MOVED UP after 30 or so innings in A ball. Brooks Conrad is returning this season after an impressive season last year.
LOW A Pitching -I think Ben Kudrna, Frank Mozzicato, Shane Panzini stay in A for the year unless we see something wild happen. Jonatan Bernal is a name that should sort of be used in any LOW A conversation with those names. The 20 year old came in the Whit trade and had a very respectable K/BB rate. Should definitely be in that Top 30 MLB prospect conversation. Lucinder Avila is another International Prospect that most people have ahead of Bernal because of arm talent but will also need another year in A.
With the 2022 Draft picks...
Mason Barnett should have a short time in A before going to A+ and maybe even AA. Ben Sears, David Sandlin (strike machine), Chazz Martinez, Brandon Johnson, and Mack Anglin (also looked great) shouldn't spend that much time in A ball. No more than 30 innings each if not fewer.
A Batting - I expect Gavin Cross, Cayden Wallace, and Javier Vaz to be in AA within a very small amount of innings.
That being said it'll be interesting what happens with Top 30 prospects Lizandro Rodriguez and Daniel Vazquez. They'll stay in A for the year, but they are both getting.My guess is that Carter Jensen will stay in A, for no other reason than to improve his catching and worth with the pitchers.
Hayden Dunhurst will likely fly up to AA to stay with the developing bullpen there.
A Overall - I probably haven't done enough homework to tell you who we can bring up from Rookie Ball to fill in the voids for our 2022 draft college arms moving up. The main thing to watch is seeing how well the pitching does and if

Diego Hernandez , a top 20 Organizational Prospect, is likely to miss the entire season.
Asa Lacy isn't really mentioned in this because I have no idea where Asa Lacy is at. He played in AA last year but also seemed to be dealing with multiple injuries on top of the pitching issues. If anyone has an update on Brennon McNair , I'd love to see how close he is to Columbia. My guess is that he's next up as he just turned 20.
OVERALL MILB:
The big headscratcher is that we have some depth at infield that is sort of "figure out what to do with it ASAP" . Loftin/Garcia/TayloCJ Alexander are all fighting for 1 spot. 3 of them are Top 30 players. 2 are Top 5 players in the Organization. And that spot might disappear in early 2024 if Cayden Wallace has numbers in AA (like I expect him to). My guess is KC might do the opposite of their usual trading strategy and try to package some of those players with our pitchers/veterans to try to get a high ranked prospect. But who knows. It'll suck if Loftin is Brewer Hicklen 2.0.
You never know, but I don't see bats that will breakout that aren't aren't fringe MLB players (Loftin , Garcia , Gentry). What you really want is to say "in 2024 we'll have two starting pitchers to fill in for Grienke / Lyles / Keller / Yarborough." But the truth is that there's no real flight path to getting anything above their current talent level. Even if Bowlan and Marsh look good, they'll be year 1 next year.
This overview is sort of healthy issue to fans wondering what happens if we aren't close to 500 at the deadline.
Obviously it'd be great if KC could somehow get young starting pitching from players that we trade away.
You should always take BPA, but if this is somewhat strategized.

AA Catcher - Fermin will probably see some time in the Majors. You'd love to find a Logan Porter type of Catcher that can also play 1st base just so the pitchers have practice.
A/A+ - First Base / DH / Catcher. I think Catchers are valuable in the minors because they help the development of pitchers and can cover up for a ton of their mistakes in terms of winning games.

AAA - bats
Loftin, Gentry, Garcia are the three batters to watch out for. KC has a nice stable of Short Stops that have flexibility to play a few other positions. Big year for all three to find a way to get up to the majors for anything longer than to replace a player on the 10 day IR. Pratto and Fermin have already seen significant time in the majors. Pratto has to get his K% down and it feels like it's his last year to prove it before we figure out a way to move on for him. And I might be generous at that.Samad Taylor is another piece and would probably see the Majors faster if he wasn't behind Loftin / Garcia. Logan Porter, CJ Alexander, and Tucker Bradley both have talent but not a real pathway to the majors like the others.
AAA - pitchingThere's names that you'll recognize Max Castillo, Josh Staumont, Jackson Kowar, Andres Nunez, Jonathan Heasley. All not making the 26 man lineup for a variety of reasons.Josh Taylor is coming back from Tommy John and might be slowly put back into the Royals 26 man lineup around June/July. Ryan Weiss had a ton of momentum in his final few Spring Training games. Finally there's Evan Sisk who we got from the MAT trade who is older but only 30 innings into playing in AAA.
AAA Overall - I don't expect a ton of players to be promoted to AAA like last year and I don't expect that many players to be sent up (barring injury). Not that it's vital to anyone reading but the team itself will win games based on the fact that you have pitching that is veterans to AAA by now.
Similar to last year Dayton & JJ simply didn't put the Royals in position to have a young arm that is going to crack the rotation from AAA this year.
KC needs to figure out what the long term plan for Jackson Kowar and Jonathan Heasley is. To be frank, there's not one player on this roster that I feel like will be a starting 5 rotation guy. Even with Castillo, I think he's best if he comes back as a Long Relief guy. But could see him starting a couple of games if we need it next year.
AA Pitching - I rank what happens in AA pitching at the top of priorities for the Royals this year. MLB + Minor League. This is almost like a film that the studio decides to be split in two movies, because the truth is that 2023 will likely end with a Cliffhanger for all of these characters at best.
The aftermath of JJ/Dayton blowing up the core of Royals from last offseason involved a swift change to focus on Minor League Bullpen prospects that would mix in with prospects that we already had.
Andrew Hoffman, Steven Cruz (a closer we got from the MAT trade), Beck Way (technically still in A+ getting more SP chances but will likely be a RP once he gets to AA) , TJ Sikkema, Jacob Wallace, Christian Chamberlain, Will Klein, Chandler Champlain are names that you'll hear in AA this year. All of them have the same mission. Increase K% and lower BB%.
KC has Brian Sweeney who did amazing stuff with bullpen pitchers but this should definitely be seen as the first hour of cooking a brisket as many of these players haven't seen much time in AA AND with Q coming from Tampa , they really like to keep pitchers in the Minors until everything is there to come up. There's no speed rushing anyone up to the majors.
From a starting perspective we have Jonathan Bowlan coming back from injury for the first few months. And Alec Marsh, a fan favorite, but had inconsistent stats at times. Bowlan and Marsh are really the two guys I could see called up to AAA at the very least.
The bullpen arms I don't expect any movement up until mid 2024.
AA Bats - Luca Tresh is AAA ready but the Royals probably want him taking reps in AA + work with the pitchers. I could also see Hayden Dunhurst coming up quickly to be here as well. Robbie Glendinning performed really well last year and had a great show of RBIs.
I think there's going to be a ton of call ups to AA.
AA Overall - Andy LaRoche and Larry Carter are in AAA this year. LaRoche was the Quad Cities Hitting Coach and was pretty effective. Larry Carter was actually the bullpen coach in Kansas City last year under Cal Eldred. He's been with the organization for decades and the organization retaining to ship him down to AA shows how much he'll be working on converting prospects into Bullpen pitchers. My guess is that unless a player is somehow magical , everyone will start in Mid-Relief and slowly become a start in this system.
It might not be what he'd want to hear but Robbie Glendinning is a coach's son and a future coach - either in the US or in Australia. He'll be great when some of our 2022 draft picks rise up.
A+ Pitching - Beck Way starts in Quad Cities but I think he'll be moving to AA fairly soon.
Noah Cameron was by far the best stat performer in the Royals Minor League system last year. But we only saw him in A+. Big year incoming for him.Like Noah Cameron, William Fleming (who was the key part of the Carlos Santana trade) was also a player that we traded for that looks surprisingly nice. Low BB rate but could increase his K%. Anthony Simonelli had a solid K/BB rate and could be a sleeper as well.
A+ Batting - Peyton Wilson is a 2nd rounder from Alabama that performed well last year and is in that scrum. There's also River Town who had a great summer last year. I think there is a lot of detail to get into so I’ll try my best to make this an easy read, can’t promise it’ll be short:
It’s Year 4 of running the business with my wife. A client we’ve had since the beginning has been pretty “problematic” for a number of reasons. To her benefit, she is a realtor and has sent a lot of work our way but it has gotten to the point my body tenses up when I read or hear her name. To sum it up before giving the detail, this woman seems highly manipulative and dishonest. She is also rather elitist and gives off heavy vibes of classism, which I have absolutely zero tolerance for. So here are a few different scenarios and situations I've had to put up with from her.
For one, she never remembers my name and in her line of work I know she probably puts a lot of effort to get right for her clients. So the fact she puts no effort into remembering my name is a signal to me that she doesn't feel I deserve it. Even when my wife texts her the week before our job(spelling my name and everything in a text) she’ll respond calling me something else. It feels deliberate, I don’t know how you make such a mistake so often.
Last time I saw her was probably the most upset I've been on a job. The scene is this: She is listing a home, and I'm cleaning the windows. Simple, one story rambler with maybe two bedrooms. Photos are being taken the day after I do the windows, and as I'm working there was a small 5 person crew of people doing interior design staging for photos. So I'm on the outer perimeter as a window washer is accustomed, doing windows. It was last spring and here in Washington state people were still highly worried about covid and the mask/distance measures were still somewhat going on but no longer required or "mandated." So I'm not wearing a mask, the crew of 5 people doing the interior weren't wearing a mask, and my client(the realtor) shows up (not wearing a mask either, nobody there that day was wearing a mask...) and immediately asks the lady running the crew if she felt "comfortable" around me without a mask. I observed that she was asking her friend, the interior designer, if she thought it was okay I wasn't wearing a mask... As if I was dirty or less than... No concern for the guy on the outer perimeter of the house surrounded by a crew of 5 breathing, maskless faces wondering all over the house. Me not wearing a mask was the issue, not her or the crew of 5. The dirty maskless day laborer. I almost walked off that job that day after that silly event.
Final detail is this: She is a 'give an inch, take a mile' kind of gal. It is safe to assume that if I encounter her face to face, especially when I am doing her house, it is always guaranteed she will try to get me to do various other projects for her. She offers to pay, and I have done one or two odd jobs for her such as light landscaping, but it feels like she has absolutely no respect for my time and what I prefer to be doing. Knowing that she has the tendency to pile on extra work, my wife does a great job of telling her what we have been up to before we do her house, that way she knows how busy we are and the little time we have to do much else. Even then, with soft efforts to inform her that we are pretty busy, she will persist in asking me to do odd jobs for her... So the latest incident happened yesterday when my wife was persuaded by her, to fit her into our already booked out schedule. She's helped us get a lot of work and we always want to do right by our clients no matter what, especially the ones who have been with us the longest so we agreed to work on what is my rest day to get some of her higher priority windows done, not a full wash of her massive house. My wife informed her the week before, and the night before our job. The client texted my wife that morning telling her the door was unlocked and everything was ready to go. I get there, and everything is locked. Sure, I could start outside but I felt as if she did that on purpose so she had a chance to "run into" me and ask me to do other things on top of washing windows we were reluctant to wash on my day off. I also got the impression she has no trust for me, which is pretty silly to think about when I'm given the keys to the homes her company is listing that hired me to do windows. That was the final straw for me, money is no longer an issue but I'm pretty fed up with the constant disrespect from this person that my wife and I are to the point of no longer working for her.
One last detail I think is important: Remember how I said she is rather manipulative? After the events with the interior designers, my wife and I put a higher priority on our other clients and when it came time for her fall cleaning, we informed her we were too busy. So within the week we told her we couldn't get to her, BAM! We got two referrals from her shortly after that. We hadn't heard from her realty company for almost the whole year, so we figured they found somebody less expensive to be there new go-to window cleaners. Completely understandable. But this felt like she was using her friends to reach out to us to see if we really were busy or if we were just telling her that. We told her referrals the same thing we told her, and they had to wait along with anybody else who called us that season to get a quote. That entire scenario seemed so incredibly manipulative and sneaky.
Anyway sorry for such a long, drawn out story. Any feedback would be appreciated, any thoughts or perspective. My wife and I feel like it's better at this point to stop contact, it's mentally exhausting even dealing with her and we both feel very disrespected and undervalued by this woman. Just wanted to share our experience and see if anybody else navigated a similar situation with a client. Are we overreacting? If you would stop seeing her as a client, how would you go about it? As I wrote, simply telling her we are too booked out seems to motivate her to get scouts and use sneaking means to see how busy we are.

I'm a big fan of hydrology. The study of water.
I have textbooks on it but honestly, I don't truly understand something unless I process it myself, words on a page won't do justice for me.
A lot of my job especially during the spring, is dealing with water. So through simple observations and trial and error I have become very, very good at what I do, by better understanding water.
In the spring each year, the frozen ground begins to catch wonderful slices of sunshine that is most appreciated during those first days of spring. After the cold and dark winters of this northern Canadaian climate. In catching those sunbeams the frozen ground, the snow and the ice all begin to bring forth water. Now my job is simple, I move the snow and ice from as much surface area as I can and to clear off and build retaining piles of dirt to hold the water, that slowly seeps from the frozen ground.
This is how it's done, this was how I was taught but it was a tedious process of clearing the leaking soil, over and over again. Taking solid dirt with each pass of my dozers blade. Meaning we'd have to bring in more dirt to fill in the loss after awhile. This new dirt had to be dry, which as you may not know? It's hard to find dry dirt without digging in the spring. Dirt that could be useful in any number of other places at the same time and so is valued quite highly.
So now you see why, understanding the water is important.
Everyone understands, of course that water flows down, always down, whenever it is able. The cascading waterfall and the torrents of the mountain streams. Water is a creature of gravity. Even the tides, as the moon rotates around the earth, are altered by the variations of gravity across it's vastness based on the location of moon on it's course.
So it made sense to offer the water a place to flow downward. Now the unfortunate thing about where this frozen ground lays, that melts itself into pools in the course of a spring day. Is that the ground I work on needs to be flat. At least flat enough that vechicles in mud or on ice, will not slide sideways when crossing it. So if I was to work with a flat surface and alter the flow of the water downward I'd need to puzzle out an option besides building a treacherous slope.
I thought first "what if I just poke, a lot of holes in the ground? Won't the water coming from the ice just flow into those?" As I had already put together, that the reason the water didn't just simply sink into the soil, was because it laid on top of a layer of ice which melts from the top down. Unable to penetrate the ice, the water pooled.
So I tested my theory by using the large "ripper" on my dozer, to poke many, many holes in low areas, small dips and potholes. Hoping that all the surrounding water would seep out at those low points.
Which did in fact work.. sort of. You see the soil within those holes can only absorb or drain so much and so quickly. So rather than a dry area, I now had man made pools of water, in each place I had poked a hole.
Not quite ideal, as it left the area covered in growing pools of water, everywhere. Instead of just needing to be cleared off every few hours.
So I altered my plan. Surrendering to the reality that water must pool if it can't be absorbed, drained or evaporated. I had another idea. Create pathways all across the area that would lead to a single pool. And so I created a reverse irrigation system. I tell you all this not to just talk about one of my favorite things.
But because I want to explain how I believe love is like water.
You can't convince love to flow uphill. You can't force it to your will. You can only guide it. Offer it a pathway forward. Love like water, naturally pools, which means it can grow with time. Rapidly or slowly, based on how much goes into it. Though, like water, Love can be set free by losing what holds it there, it can overflow and escape, it can be evaporated, drained or absorbed until nothing remains.
Water can also stagnate when it has no growth.
But all water is part of a much larger cycle. The lowest point, water is a creature of gravity. The lowest point on the surface of earth is within the ocean. Becoming part of the salty tides themselves. But the cycle, then plucks the water from the vastness of the ocean and carries it back onto land, in the form of clouds. There it may fall as snow on high mountain tops? It may fall as rain on the forests and be absorbed into the plants, it may even evaporate further and create humidity, that can be felt on skin, promising its return in a torrent of thunder and lightning.
Love I believe is exactly like water. A vast majority of it, a bit too salty. I would call the ocean the love we have for other humans. Those who we do not know. It is water, yet it is not water that can sustain human life when swallowed.
But love like water is part of the greater cycle. Plucked from that ocean of salty love. It evaporates, transitions into something else.
As love is carried in the cycle it may grow cold and as it falls it might end up sitting in one place for long periods as snow. But when it is warmed, even from the highest mountain top or the glaciers of Antarctica. The water seeks to find its place.
Maybe our love is like the rainfall on the forest? Giving itself to a greater purpose.
Maybe our love stagnates within a tiny pool. Unable to escape until it eventually is evaporated? Escaping to return to the cycle once more.
But maybe, just maybe.. our love finds its way to a quiet pond or lake? Where it will be fed and feed.
Where it will have high years and low years, where it will sustain life and give of itself to all that is around it.
Maybe, just maybe.. our love is like that lake? And we just haven't reached it yet. Just caught in transition, between states.
So as the spring comes and the ice of my love thaws, i hope anew that when next we find one another, it is not within the stagnant pool and not the ocean deep but in the quiet pond where birdsong fills the air and flowers fill the meadows along our shore. Where the deer come to drink in the shade of the pine trees. That is where I'll wait for you.
Even if you never come? It is the most wonderful place I have ever known.

I have textbooks on it but honestly, I don't truly understand something unless I process it myself, words on a page won't do justice for me.
A lot of my job especially during the spring, is dealing with water. So through simple observations and trial and error I have become very, very good at what I do, by better understanding water.
In the spring each year, the frozen ground begins to catch wonderful slices of sunshine that is most appreciated during those first days of spring. After the cold and dark winters of this northern Canadaian climate. In catching those sunbeams the frozen ground, the snow and the ice all begin to bring forth water. Now my job is simple, I move the snow and ice from as much surface area as I can and to clear off and build retaining piles of dirt to hold the water, that slowly seeps from the frozen ground.
This is how it's done, this was how I was taught but it was a tedious process of clearing the leaking soil, over and over again. Taking solid dirt with each pass of my dozers blade. Meaning we'd have to bring in more dirt to fill in the loss after awhile. This new dirt had to be dry, which as you may not know? It's hard to find dry dirt without digging in the spring. Dirt that could be useful in any number of other places at the same time and so is valued quite highly.
So now you see why, understanding the water is important.
Everyone understands, of course that water flows down, always down, whenever it is able. The cascading waterfall and the torrents of the mountain streams. Water is a creature of gravity. Even the tides, as the moon rotates around the earth, are altered by the variations of gravity across it's vastness based on the location of moon on it's course.
So it made sense to offer the water a place to flow downward. Now the unfortunate thing about where this frozen ground lays, that melts itself into pools in the course of a spring day. Is that the ground I work on needs to be flat. At least flat enough that vechicles in mud or on ice, will not slide sideways when crossing it. So if I was to work with a flat surface and alter the flow of the water downward I'd need to puzzle out an option besides building a treacherous slope.
I thought first "what if I just poke, a lot of holes in the ground? Won't the water coming from the ice just flow into those?" As I had already put together, that the reason the water didn't just simply sink into the soil, was because it laid on top of a layer of ice which melts from the top down. Unable to penetrate the ice, the water pooled.
So I tested my theory by using the large "ripper" on my dozer, to poke many, many holes in low areas, small dips and potholes. Hoping that all the surrounding water would seep out at those low points.
Which did in fact work.. sort of. You see the soil within those holes can only absorb or drain so much and so quickly. So rather than a dry area, I now had man made pools of water, in each place I had poked a hole.
Not quite ideal, as it left the area covered in growing pools of water, everywhere. Instead of just needing to be cleared off every few hours.
So I altered my plan. Surrendering to the reality that water must pool if it can't be absorbed, drained or evaporated. I had another idea. Create pathways all across the area that would lead to a single pool. And so I created a reverse irrigation system. 2023.04.01 05:31 Sourkraut92 Upgrade from an On5, then bash the base S22.
This past November, I upgraded to my base S22 from the Samsung On5, which I had since November 2016. Generational & lineup gaps acknowledged then put aside; The base S22 256GB was a tremendous upgrade from the lousy 8GB On5 I ran around with for six years. 8GB of RAM as opposed to 1.5GB of RAM. This phone gets dragged through the mud over it's battery & could it be better? It was 2022, sure. But in my case, I'll take my base S22's 3700mAh battery any day of the week over my former On5's 2600mAh battery; And I should also point out that was when the battery was new, an experience I had three times over. I'm in love with the wireless charging capability because in addition to battery replacements, I began to know my cell phone repair guy personally due to frequent visits; The USB charging port on my On5 had to be replaced several times due to pocket debris & lint. Now, with my S22's wireless charging & Otterbox Defender Pro case, those days are behind me.
If you're making documentaries/ music videos/ school work/ TikToks, the base S22 is probably not for you. But, for the moderate user who knows what they're doing, the base S22 can be a delightful experience on a budget. It's not perfect, but it can be so much worse..

Here's a few pointers to help your Base S22 help you. - Every chance you get, clean out your RAM. -SETTINGS, BATTERY AND DEVICE CARE, then hit OPTIMIZE NOW, if that option is available. If it is not, then hit MEMORY & then press CLEAN NOW(X amount of space).
- Charge your phone to 100%, if you'd like, but YOU MUST TAKE IT OFF THE CHARGER ONCE IT REACHES 100%. Allowing the battery marinate at 100% is detrimental to the longevity & performance of the battery, which may degrade it prematurely. Simply put, imagine picking up the very upper limit of your body strength. Then, you hold that weight up as high as you could, for as long as you could. May pull or tear something, right? That's your battery being left on the charger.
- Do not let the phone die (never below 20% would be optimal). When this happens, it also has a negative impact on the battery, which would also impact longevity & drag performance.
- There is no reason to run every app on your phone or leave apps running. This causes unnecessary battery drainage & wear. Just use what you're using & turn it off once done. You could even use 2-3 apps at once, just be sure to clean your RAM more frequently in these instances.
- WI-FI uses less battery than cellular data.
- If you're not using WI-FI or Bluetooth, turn those off because the phone would use battery looking to make those connections. In circumstances where you're at something serious like work & aren't on the phone much anyway, set it on AIRPLANE MODE. This will stop your S22 from looking for cellular signals, which turns battery drain into a battery trickle. You will get all of your messages & notifications once you turn off airplane mode.
- Make sure you use the correct charger. For the Base S22 to charge optimally, you need the OEM Samsung USB-C charging wire & the Samsung 25W power block, which the phone doesn't come with. Ripoff or not, having that specific charger ensures that your phone charges correctly. The wireless charging is optimally done on Samsung's 2022 15W wireless charger; That too, would require the Samsung USB-C charging wire & 25W power block to function correctly. Using alternate brands/wattages, while maybe cheaper, would only be to your detriment in the long run due to the possibility that your S22 may not change sufficiently, which may cause a lack of battery performance & come up short on expectations.
- Make sure to either RESTART or SHUT DOWN your Base S22 (I do it immediately after I charge to 100%, the 2/3 times a week I do it), to keep RAM clear while also optimizing both the battery & software.
- Keep up with the updates. Especially as of recently, Samsung's updates have improved the performance of the S22's battery. I believe that can be said for the whole S22 lineup, but that I don't know; I, without much difficulty or doubt, noticed an improvement in my bases battery post Feb23/Mar23 updates.
I hope this helps someone out there. Life is too short to focus in "What could be.." & "How this can be better". That's for Samsung to worry about. You (probably) work hard. Enjoy your device.
