2023.04.01 04:08 Pancaros What kind of reasons can be given for players to travel to far away lands and make multiple bases with transportation systems ?

When I am playing Minecraft(Especially modded) I always love to travel and explore far away places and even make multiple bases far apart each other with transportation ways between them. But, except maybe wanting a resource from a specific biome, there really isn't much of a reason to make another base far away and bring the resources you gather there to your main base.
I couldn't think of any good addition that would encourage players to travel far and transport items from one base to another.
-Ores can be found everywhere.
-Loots from structures becomes not so much important after a while. And doesn't necessarily need an item transportation system to just transport a few valuables.
-Ocean monuments isn't something you always want to raid. And gathering prismarine becomes obsolete after you've made a guardian farm.
What I could think of was maybe adding a special ore or some kind of rare useful resource that only starts to spawn thousands of blocks away from the world spawn.
I know this question is unnecessarily specific but I just wanted to know what kind of additions or tweaks others can come up with that would encourage players to travel a lot and make multiple bases around the world an maybe even transport items between them.

2023.04.01 01:42 NinnyBoggy With 10.0 coming to a close soon, how do you feel about the new profession system?

Long read ahead!
Personally, I'm a fan overall. I like that crafters aren't all equal, and I enjoy the crafting system. They feel more engaging than just churning out 150 recipes and unlocking everything except for rep-based formulas.

Unequal Professions

That said, I don't think they're all equal. My main is Enchanting and the crafting orders system doesn't exist for Enchanters. On most professions there's something vital that people need, mostly in the form of gear. Lariats and rings, armor and weapons, etc.
Enchanting can make some weapon appearances if you farm up a very low drop rate formula. If you go a certain Spec, you can make some pets, but that'll hamstring you when it comes to effective enchants for content. These two things are the only things that crafting orders ever appear for, which means I've not done a single crafting order since the system's launch.
The only effective things we can make is profession equipment for enchanting. But again, going to spec in that makes it so you can't really use enchanting for its usual purpose of enchanting gear for content. These pieces also cost hundreds of mettle, so missing an inspiration proc sets you back weeks worth of resources. I can't pretend it doesn't feel like shit having friends that hit gold cap off of Lariat work orders while I stared at 100g work orders for a weapon illusion that literally wasn't in the game until primal storms started.
However, the same enchants can sell on the AH instead of crafting orders. That means that the best thing to do is pick a type of gear and try to 3-star those enchants. The only things worthwhile to do that for from a financial gold-making point of view is weapons, and the price drops after the first month. Once someone enchants their weapon once, they never need it again.
On top of that, Enchanting doesn't engage with the system of different quality mats. Leather, herbs, and ores can all be 1, 2, or 3-star. For Enchanting, the three mats are their usual universal quality they've always been. So as a whole, Enchanting doesn't have any mechanics with the new Quality system and barely engages with the new Crafting system.
This was particularly vicious at the start of the patch. Any weapon enchantment (and some others) required 3 Glowing Titan Orbs. These had a ~2% drop chance from very specific mobs only in Tyrhold, with very few exceptions. The orbs sold for 5-10k gold at any time, which is why your 3-star Sophic Devotion cost as much as a WoW token until they buffed the drop rates.
Because we didn't engage in lower-quality mats or the Crafting Order system, an Enchanter was forced to farm for hours to get these mats or drop tens of thousands on the orbs themselves, just to have a low chance at maybe 3-starring an enchantment. We could use Mettle to try to raise our Inspiration proc %, but Mettle was so trickled in the start of the expac that the amount of Mettle needed to roll the dice was insane.
Despite not engaging with the new Quality system, one of the specs that you'll want to sink points into is the Disenchanting tree. In previous expacs, disenchanting has essentially guaranteed materials of a quality equal to the quality of the gear being disenchanted. Now, you can disenchant a mythic raid drop and get a blue shard out of it. Leveling disenchanting is required to get the appropriate mats, and it still isn't a 100% chance. I think it'd be better if the drop was still guaranteed and leveling disenchanting increased the amount you received from disenchantment, but that's just my personal take.

Cooking and Fishing

Enchanting is far from the only profession with issues, but I feel like it's the hardest struck by the new systems. I think you could make the same argument for Cooking and Fishing. Both were left out of the new systems, but why?
It'd be cool to have a Cooking skill tree where you focused on feasts or stat food. A tertiary tree could focus on quality of food versus multicrafting lower-quality food en masse. If I have different qualities of weapon runes, armor kits, and sharpening stones, why not give me the same options for my stat food?
Fishing has the same. Why can't I spec toward having a higher chance to get materials or fishing crates? Maybe a capstone spec in Fishing could give me a once-a-day ability to spawn a pool, or double the duration of my attached bait. Fish and cooking ingredients also don't engage with the Quality system, but if they did, a Fishing tree could do the same as the above cooking idea - put points toward catching a high quantity of fish or a higher quality, lower amount of fish.
It's strange because they've made large improvements in both professions, particularly Fishing. There's world quests, daily nets, a reputation-locked system to improve my Fishing gear, etc. They've added so much, but they cut Fishing out of the new systems. Cooking, meanwhile, feels no different from previous expansions.
It feels like they're pushing toward making these secondary professions obsolete. They've removed Archaeology and First Aid entirely, and these are the only other professions everyone can engage with. Given that they're the only professions that 100% of the playerbase can simultaneously have, it feels like they'd do more to make them benefit from the complete overhaul that professions underwent.
One upside of them not engaging with the Quality system is that it keeps bag-bloat down. Even with the new Reagent Slot bags, I'm commonly full on mats. Herbalism can take up a dozen slots, plus Primal Chaos, crafting motes, sparks, vials, etc. If every fish and cooking mat had different Qualities, it'd definitely bloat fast. Then again, a single hour in 10.0.7 showed me they don't mind bloating my bags with random shit too much.

Falling Behind on Alts

A third issue I wanted to highlight is that the new Specialization system makes grabbing professions on an alt a terrible experience. I have a lot of alts, but because of specializations, they're professionless.
There are no catch-up mechanics on Knowledge points. My Druid that just hit 70 has Skinning, and it'll be early August before that toon is where my main is. Mettle is heavily restricted since I'm not doing any production professions on this toon, making it much more difficult for me to do a crafting order for Skinning tools.
I have the same problem on 3 other toons. If I want to engage on professions with them, I have to do the weekly chores to get free Knowledge points and pick up the free Knowledge drops from skinning, mining, herbing, etc. But even if I get every possible point on them, I'll never catch up to my main's Enchanting until they're all maxed out - a process that will likely take the rest of this calendar year.
Alts do have one beneficial recourse: Rabul, the Artisan's Consortium quartermaster, sells books that give you Knowledge. These are purchasable on alts regardless of rep. Unfortunately, they also require Mettle to purchase - 100, 150, and 200. These prices are also effectively lowered to 25, 75, and 125 because the books give 15 Knowledge, which returns 75 Mettle to you.
These books are one-use and give a total of 45 points. You can buy them for both of your professions. 45 points is enough to fill out a single node, but past that, you're back to being wildly behind. For comparison, my main has spent about 240 points on Enchanting alone. That 200-point gap is insurmountable at the moment.
Of course, it's completely possible I'm missing something. They've added several systems for alt-catchup, and I'd generally call the game's current state the most alt-friendly I've seen it in quite some time. But when it comes to professions, the timegating on Knowledge and the importance of specializations makes picking up professions on an alt or switching professions on your main a daunting, near-impossible task.
I don't know the fix for alts. For mains, I think there should be some sort of point-refund system. Something taxing enough that people can't just repeatedly re-skill to craft a max tier item from one tree and then switch back to their normal tree, but something friendly enough that you aren't bricked by weeks or months if you went down the wrong tree. Primal chaos became irrelevant within the first month of the patch from how fast we got it - why not let us refund a point per X amount of chaos?

The Good

I said at the start that I like the profession system overall and then pointed out glaring flaws for a long ass time. These flaws are the only flaws that I personally see. Everything else about the systems, I find a massive success.
I think the best part is that they've really made crafting feel like a community. I have the battle tags of cross-faction players because they can craft things for me. I've recommended crafters to people and asked around my circle to find crafters that can make the exact item I need. I've made friends with people because they could help me figure out the best spec tree or craft something for me. I have a string of letters back and forth with someone I've otherwise never met, cheering and making bets on whether her Inspiration would proc to 5-star my Lariat.
It also feels like professions are more varied now. Enchanting isn't just Enchanting - now it's Weapon Enchanting, Ring Enchanting, Gear Enchanting, Tool Enchanting, Pet Making, Transmog Illusions. Are these paths all equal? Absolutely not. But do I as a player get the option of picking one of these paths? Sure do!
It's brought a lot more life into a system that was otherwise extremely stale. It's made it so profession gear is something I actually think about instead of maybe bothering to grab a mining pick from a Trade Goods NPC.
On top of it all, it's also given a huge boost to the economy. Region-wide AH killed the prices on a lot of things, but the new crafting system helped bring that back. As someone who farms up enough gold to play the game for free on a monthly basis, I find this an awesome bonus. It's also just more fun to have an in-game economy that's truly player-driven.
There were some other benefits. It was cool at the start of the expac that you could use professions to power-level alts. Blizzard put a stop to it, and I get that it was an unintended thing, but I like that you can still get a couple levels from your first crafts.

Conclusion

When I started this post, it was two paragraphs. I'm procrastinating work so I made a wall that will almost undoubtedly get lost in this sub, because I sure as fuck wouldn't read all this if I clicked over.
Overall, I think the new crafting system is great. It's helped bring life to a once-stale system, it's encouraged a sense of community, and it's boosted server and region player-driven economies.
I think to improve it, they should look at some professions that didn't benefit. Enchanting barely engages with the new system except for Specialization, and our spec trees aren't great if we want to continue doing what Enchanting is typically meant for. Cooking and Fishing should be brought into the new system instead of left outside to freeze, especially since Fishing received so many boosts this patch.
More than anything, there should be more systems in place to catch alts up. A character that picks up a profession today has months of work ahead of them if they want to get to where the current standard is. That standard is only going to keep moving, so alts or people switching professions are essentially set back perpetual months.
If you read this whole thing, thank you! If you think I'm a dumbass and my viewpoints are stupid as shit, that's cool, too! I'd love to hear everyone's experience with their professions, how many gold caps your Lariat got you, and how successful you feel when your inspiration procs for a 5-star craft.

TORONTO, March 31, 2023 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Discovery Silver Corp. (TSX: DSV, OTCQX: DSVSF) (“Discovery” or the “Company”) is pleased to announce its financial results for the fourth quarter (“Q4 2022”) and year ended December 31, 2022, and to provide a summary of key events for the quarter and subsequent to year-end. All figures are stated in Canadian dollars (“C$”) unless otherwise noted. Discovery’s flagship project is the 100%-owned Cordero silver project (“Cordero” or the “Project”) located in Chihuahua State, Mexico.
Tony Makuch, CEO, states: “The significant progress we made at Cordero in 2022, culminating in the delivery of a Pre-Feasibility Study (PFS) in early 2023, has demonstrated that Cordero is one of the most exciting development projects in the mining space globally with the potential to become one of the top three largest silver mines and top ten largest zinc mines worldwide. The PFS demonstrates excellent economics and is highly capital efficient through building in phases to minimize the upfront capital for Phase 1 and have the project finance the final build by utilizing operating cash flow to fund Phase 2. Additionally, the PFS incorporates less than 50% of the current known resource tonnes, creating significant leverage and optionality with only a modest increase in metal prices. The design of the reserve pit fitting within the shell of the resource pit also supports this option. There also remains further significant exploration upside, with the deposit still open at depth, and a number of other targets defined elsewhere on the property.
“Work on our Feasibility Study, which is expected to be delivered in the first half of next year, is already well underway with recent drilling in and around the pit highlighting further growth potential beyond what was outlined in the PFS. Alongside our Feasibility Study work we remain committed to maintaining our positive working relationships with all local stakeholders and look forward to initiating the construction permitting process next quarter and the commencement of property-wide exploration on our highly prospective land package in the middle of the year.”
HIGHLIGHTS FROM Q4 2022 & SUBSEQUENT EVENTS:
  • Completion of our PFS on Cordero that outlined an 18-year mine life with average annual production of 33 Moz AgEq at an average AISC of $12.80/oz AgEq in Years 1 to 12. The after-tax NPV5% was US$1.2 B and the IRR was 28% at base case metal prices of Ag - US$22.00/oz, Au - US$1,600/oz, Pb - US$1.00/lb and Zn - US$1.20/lb.
  • The appointment of Tony Makuch as the Chief Executive Officer; Mr. Makuch has more than 35 years of development, operational and leadership experience. Most recently he was CEO of Kirkland Lake Gold Ltd. where, under his five-year tenure, annual gold production grew from 315,000 oz to over 1,400,000 oz and Kirkland Lake’s share price increased over 500%.
  • The graduation to the main board of the Toronto Stock Exchange reflecting the Company’s maturity and growth with Cordero now having advanced to the feasibility study stage.
  • The announcement of the filing of a Final Short Form Base Shelf Prospectus allowing for the sale of Common Shares, Warrants, Subscription Receipts and Units of the Company in one or more series of issuances for aggregate gross proceeds of up to $300,000,000 for a period of 25 months following the filing.
  • The Company’s receipt of its official ESR Certification, which is issued by the Mexican Center for Philanthropy to organizations that have demonstrated they operate in a socially and environmentally responsible manner.
  • Announcement of the Company’s work program for 2023 that includes: significant advancement of FS scope items, the initiation of the construction permitting process, an initial 9,000 m drill program planned across multiple targets on the Company’s prospective land package, and further investment in our well-established ESG programs as part of our commitment to work with all local stakeholders.
  • As of December 31, 2022, we had a cash and cash equivalents balance of $46.2 million.
LOOKING AHEAD:
The Company has now completed 39,000 m of its Feasibility Study drill program that consists of engineering drilling, resource upgrade drilling, and step-out drilling targeting the expansion of the PFS open pit. The drill results subsequent to the PFS cut-off date continue to demonstrate the mineral resource growth potential that could be unlocked and included in the upcoming Feasibility Study. Resource upgrade infill and step-out drilling returned a number of higher-grade intercepts within, and below, the reserves pit, in areas that were previously modeled as low-grade ore. The Company has the potential to continue lowering Cordero’s strip ratio by converting the waste to ore within the pit and expand the pit at depth.
The Company’s drill program in 2023 at the project is designed to support the FS through condemnation and geotechnical investigation for locating site infrastructure and for hydrogeology investigation.
The FS is expected to be completed in the first half of 2024, with the construction permitting work being performed in parallel. The submission of the Environmental Impact Statement (“Manifesto de Impacto Ambiental” or “MIA”) is expected to be made to the Mexican Federal Environmental Department (“SEMARNAT”) in the first half of 2023. Assuming a 12 to 24 month permitting timeline, this would position the Company to make a construction decision during the second half of 2024.
In parallel with these work plans our ESG program continues to be an important area of focus, with our 2022 ESG report scheduled for issuance in 2Q 2023, and key government and international accreditation certifications planned for completion in the second half of 2023. We also remain committed to the growth potential of Cordero almost 9,000 m of drilling planned this year on resource expansion targets and our first ever drilling of five highly prospective property targets within 10 km of Cordero.
Our balance sheet remains exceptionally strong with a current cash balance of approximately $38 million and no debt, sufficient to finance the 2023 work program at Cordero. The Company recently filed a final base shelf prospectus allowing for the sale of Common Shares, Warrants, Subscription Receipts and Units of the Company in one or more series of issuance for aggregate gross proceeds of up to $300 million for a period of 25 months following the filing. The Company expects to complete a Definitive Feasibility Study for the first half of 2024, and advance Cordero through to a construction decision following the release of the FS and completion of the necessary financings.
SUMMARY OF Q4 2022 & SUBSEQUENT EVENTS:
Environment, Social, Governance:
The Company continues to make excellent progress on its Environmental, Social and Governance (“ESG”) initiatives. Recent highlights include:
  • Community Programs – ongoing sponsorship of the supply of equipment and medicine to the mobile medical unit that was donated to the Parral municipality in 2022. The also provided assistance with the construction of local medical clinic in 2022. Both the medical unit and clinic have the capacity to serve approximately 70,000 people per annum within the Parral municipality.
  • Socially Responsible Enterprise (Empresa Socialmente Responsable) Certification : the Company has received its official ESR certification from the Mexican Center for Philanthropy (Centro Mexicano para la Filantropia) in Q4 2022. The certification requires the Company’s commitment to five pillars: business ethics, community engagement, protection and preservation of the environment, quality of life for employees and corporate social responsibility.

Projects:
Preliminary Feasibility Study (PFS)
On January 24, 2023, we announced the results from the PFS on Cordero. Highlights from the study include:
  • Excellent project economics: Base Case after-tax NPV5% of US$1.2 Billion (C$1.5 Billion) and IRR of 28% (Ag - US$22.00/oz, Au - US$1,600/oz, Pb - US$1.00/lb and Zn - US$1.20/lb).
  • Extended mine life & higher production: 18-year mine life with average annual production of 33 Moz AgEq.
  • High margins & low capital intensity maintained: average AISC of US$12.80/oz AgEq in Years 1 to 12 with an initial development capex of US$455 M resulting in an attractive NPV-to-capex ratio of 2.5x.
  • Significantly de-risked Reserve base: new Reserves declared of Ag - 266 Moz, Au - 790 koz, Pb - 2,970 Mlb and Zn – 4,650 Mlb; more than 70% of mill feed in Years 1 to 5 classified as Proven.
  • Exceptional silver price leverage: PFS mine plan assumes only 42% of Measured & Indicated Resource tonnes are processed; clear potential to significantly extend mine life at higher silver prices.
  • ESG/economic contribution: total estimated taxes payable of US$1.2 Billion, a peak estimated local workforce of over 1,000 employees and over $4 Billion of expected goods and services purchased locally within Mexico over the life of the mine.
The PFS was released in conjunction with an updated Mineral Resource Estimate (“MRE”). Further details on the PFS and MRE results can be found in our news release dated January 24, 2023, and in the supporting technical report filed on SEDAR and on the Company’s website.
Feasibility Study drilling
Feasibility Study drilling commenced in Q3 2022 and work is expected to be ongoing throughout 2023. The program is anticipated to consist of approximately 50,000 m of drilling related to engineering drilling, reserve expansion drilling and resource upgrade drilling. To date, the Company has released 45 drill holes consisting of 20,000 m of drilling. These initial drill holes were focused on two key areas: 1) expansion of reserves within and beneath the Pre-Feasibility Study open pit and 2) upgrading and expansion of the resource in the far northeast of the deposit.
Reserve Expansion Drilling – highlight intercepts from this drilling include:
  • 77 m averaging 126 g/t AgEq 1 (46 g/t Ag, 0.08 g/t Au, 0.7% Pb and 1.4% Zn) from 218 m and 22 m averaging 265 g/t AgEq 1 (83 g/t Ag, 0.10 g/t Au, 1.8% Pb and 3.2% Zn) from 374 m within the PFS pit in areas modelled as low to medium grade in hole C22-656.
  • 96 m averaging 124 g/t AgEq 1 (33 g/t Ag, 0.03 g/t Au, 0.7% Pb and 1.8% Zn) from 464 m on the margins of the PFS pit in hole C22-654.
  • 32 m averaging 158 g/t AgEq 1 (77 g/t Ag, 0.16 g/t Au, 0.7% Pb and 1.3% Zn) from 108 m and 39 m averaging 241 g/t AgEq 1 (124 g/t Ag, 0.09 g/t Au, 1.2% Pb and 1.9% Zn) from 185 m within the reserves pit in the South Corridor in hole C22-677.
  • 36 m averaging 126 g/t AgEq 1 (35 g/t Ag, 0.06 g/t Au, 0.7% Pb and 1.7% Zn) from 481 m and 27 m averaging 133 g/t AgEq 1 (25 g/t Ag, 0.06 g/t Au, 0.6% Pb and 2.2% Zn) from 555 m in hole C22-687; these intervals were toward the bottom and beneath the reserves pit in an area previously modelled as waste.
These positive drill results demonstrate the potential to expand reserves through the conversion of waste to ore within the reserves pit and through the expansion at depth of the reserves pit.
Far Northeast Drilling Drilling in 2022 outlined low grade mineralization with a number of discrete high-grade zones in the far northeast of the deposit, more than 1 km beyond the limits of the reserves pit. Most of this mineralization is within 100 m of surface and is included within the resource pit constraint as part of the January 2023 resource update. 15 follow up drill holes have been completed testing the lateral depth and strike extent of mineralization within this zone. This drilling confirms the presence of a broad mineralized fracture system in the area. The orientation of mineralization does not appear to be consistent with the dominant northeast orientation evident in the main part of the Cordero deposit. A more detailed review of fracture orientation along with further drilling is required to develop a better understanding of the main controls of mineralization in this part of the deposit.
For further details on the drill results noted above refer to our news releases dated November 17, 2022 and March 22, 2023. Supporting Technical Disclosure for drill results can be found at the end of this release.

TECHNICAL NOTES & REFERENCES:
Drill results: all drill results in this news release are rounded. Assays are uncut and undiluted. Widths are drilled widths, not true widths, as a full interpretation of the actual orientation of mineralization is not complete. As a guideline, intervals with disseminated mineralization were chosen based on a 25 g/t AgEq cutoff with no more than 10 m of dilution. AgEq calculations are used as the basis for total metal content calculations given Ag is the dominant metal constituent as a percentage of AgEq value in approximately 70% of the Company’s mineralized intercepts. AgEq calculations for reported drill results are based on USD $22.00/oz Ag, $1,600/oz Au, $1.00/lb Pb, $1.20/lb Zn. The calculations assume 100% metallurgical recovery and are indicative of gross in-situ metal value at the indicated metal prices.
Sample analysis and QA/QC Program
The true width of the veins is estimated to be approximately 70% of the drilled width. Assays are uncut except where indicated. All core assays are from HQ drill core unless stated otherwise. Drill core is logged and sampled in a secure core storage facility located at the project site 40km north of the city of Parral. Core samples from the program are cut in half, using a diamond cutting saw, and are sent to ALS Geochemistry-Mexico for preparation in Chihuahua City, Mexico, and subsequently pulps are sent to ALS Vancouver, Canada, which is an accredited mineral analysis laboratory, for analysis. All samples are prepared using a method whereby the entire sample is crushed to 70% passing -2mm, a split of 250g is taken and pulverized to better than 85% passing 75 microns. Samples are analyzed for gold using standard Fire Assay-AAS techniques (Au-AA24) from a 50g pulp. Over limits are analyzed by fire assay and gravimetric finish. Samples are also analyzed using thirty three-element inductively coupled plasma method (“ME-ICP61”). Over limit sample values are re-assayed for: (1) values of zinc > 1%; (2) values of lead > 1%; and (3) values of silver > 100 g/t. Samples are re-assayed using the ME-OG62 (high-grade material ICP-AES) analytical package. For values of silver greater than 1,500 g/t, samples are re-assayed using the Ag-CON01 analytical method, a standard 30 g fire assay with gravimetric finish. Certified standards and blanks are routinely inserted into all sample shipments to ensure integrity of the assay process. Selected samples are chosen for duplicate assay from the coarse reject and pulps of the original sample. No QAQC issues were noted with the results reported herein.

NON-GAAP MEASURES:
The Company has included certain non-GAAP performance measures as detailed below. In the mining industry, these are common performance measures but may not be comparable to similar measures presented by other issuers and the non-GAAP measures do not have any standardized meaning. Accordingly, it is intended to provide additional information and should not be considered in isolation or as a substitute for measures of performance prepared in accordance with IFRS.
CASH COSTS PER OUNCE
The Company calculated total cash costs per ounce by dividing the sum of operating costs, royalty costs, production taxes, refining and shipping costs, by payable silver-equivalent ounces. While there is no standardized meaning of the measure across the industry, the Company believes that this measure is useful to external users in assessing operating performance.
ALL-IN SUSTAINING COSTS ("AISC")
The Company has provided an AISC performance measure that reflects all the expenditures that are required to produce an ounce of payable metal. While there is no standardized meaning of the measure across the industry, the Company’s definition conforms to the all-in sustaining cost definition as set out by the World Gold Council in its guidance dated June 27, 2013. Subsequent amendments to the guidance have not materially affected the figures presented.
FREE CASH FLOW
Free Cash Flow is a non-GAAP performance measure that is calculated as cash flows from operations net of cash flows invested in mineral property, plant and equipment and exploration and evaluation assets. The Company believes that this measure is useful to the external users in assessing the Company’s ability to generate cash flows from its mineral projects.

2023.04.01 01:05 SoulOfMod The Kemono need to *actually* limp when they are near death

What's more to say really? They only limp in animation ,they still get away fast if not as fast as they normally run away, you can't catch a limping kemono,it will always outrun you, which is annoying when its literally 1% hp away but nope, run one more time anyway.
I love the game but MH (World, not rise, which did it dumb too were they just zoom in the distance) did it better where you could still run attack them a bit and maybe kill them while on the run limping

2023.04.01 00:46 Wurdyburd [Long Post, Part 1] GW2 and Roles: Why Attributes and Gear Fail to Teach Players, Diversify Gameplay, or Inform Design Direction

Hello, it's me again, the wordiest of birds, with another analysis and design post. This could easily be ten different posts, but I'm cutting it down to two main themes. As always: I mostly play PvE, but spend time on every class in every mode; The goal of this is not necessarily to wildly invent new systems for the game, but to identify themes, and what it takes for them to flourish, not condemn and start over, and invite conversation; I find spoiler-hiding my walls of text helps keep it digestible. Part 2 will cover non-attribute designs and tech in GW2, and open discussion about whether our current obsession with "hit big monster make big numbers go up more" is stifling the diversity of the game, and whether there could be a place for builds that aren't exclusively about damage or boons. A lot of this has been cooking for a long time, and as much as I love the game, I do worry about it's longevity, and the diversity of elite specs, builds, and challenges that we've been getting for the last several years, and what it'll mean for content in the future.
TL;DPremise/Highlights:
First, the state of the game. While GW2 is both celebrated and chided for it's [relative] departure from "holy trinity" teamcraft, it still fails to present the 'role' of RolePlaying Game especially seriously. Increasingly, traits and skills lack any kind of narrative or thematic flavor, opting instead to slap numbers and % increases around until some unseen meta god is appeased, while teamcraft has identified a flexible DPS/boonDPS/boonHeal to be the main way to approach challenges, but with severe consequences should they be played off-design. This leads to an ENORMOUS amount of dead traits, dead equipment prefixes, dead runes and sigils, and some dead weaponry, plus oversimplified gameplay with spammable moves, and while a limited number of meta/best-in-slot equipment makes it easier for the developers to target overperforming builds, it means that there are many elements of buildcraft that sneak under the radar, unnoticed and unassuming.
Questions are asked, "Are there any advantages to melee combat over range?", "Are we expected to stand still or move around during combat?", "Should every profession be viable at every challenge, or should they have unique advantages?", and "We don't believe that profession complexity should translate into an increase in DPS," among others. In attempting to form a baseline for the game, and make it's various components easier to balance, the game runs the risk of becoming too homogenized, too bland, reliant increasingly on roleplay themes that the devs don't seem interested in mechanically representing, while as many as 30 different non-PvP attribute combinations fail to see use. All the while, powercreep slowly inflates the average player's output, undermining the difficulty of old content, failing to teach players how the intricacies of the game works, and shocking inexperienced players who jump from location to location with difficulty and mechanics they are neither prepared for, nor understand.
Gripes aside, Guild Wars 2 has perhaps the strongest foundation for MMO buildcraft I've ever played. It's huge array of diverse traits and swappable weapon sets, and diverse component interactions, both within a profession and between professions, is what drew me to the game, kept me playing the full range of content, and what leads me to make these lengthy, passionate articles. There's a good reason why many other MMOs see GW2 as an inspiration, or even copy from it directly. For all it's challenges, all this game needs is a slight clarification in philosophy, even without making any of the changes recommended here, and the pieces will fall into place over time.
Guild Wars 2 is sometimes compared to Magic the Gathering.>! They both share an incredible number of sub-mechanics and themes that all fold together in intricate, and sometimes unexpected ways. Fans of each game are probably aware of the remarkable confidence that MtG has in it's color spectrum: for each color, there are a series of powerful, and well-documented sub-themes, many of which overlap with other colors. It's when the colors combine that the game truly shines, creating dynamic playstyles and themes that appeal to an incredibly diverse audience, with 3-color decks having much more tech available, and much stranger themes, than 2-color, or 1-colored decks. From the moment that a colored card is revealed to you, a practiced player can instantly make inferences to what their opponent's strategies may be, and begin to move in a way to counteract it, while pushing their own strategies. This "foreknowledge of theme" rather than "foreknowledge of event" means that two players can effectively combat each other, despite never having met or taken the chance to look through each other's deck list, and makes for more personalized decks, and more enjoyable games.!<
I give this example because such a case could be made for Guild Wars 2's attribute system.>! Much like MtG colors, each attribute aligns with a purpose, some objective that promotes value when travelling the world or the Mists alike, with each "color combo" coming together to form an attribute prefix. The problem with this analogy is that Guild Wars 2's gear prefixes aren't each designed to carry a mechanic that helps the player succeed, either while travelling alone, or in a group. Many traits exacerbate this with attribute conversion, usually from +Power, and if your selection doesn't result in you or an ally killing an enemy faster, it's generally regarded as a dead choice. !<
Were GW2 to shift to recognize each attribute as a genuine gameplay mechanic, it would grant the designers a foundation from which to design content that harnesses specific challenges, and grant the players of the game confidence in their build, as well as flexibility in purpose, when approaching said challenges.
(As an aside, first: many MMOs have rather abstract stat and buff systems, that make it impossible to understand without extensive out-of-game research, and even once understood in concept, Guild Wars 2 doesn't always communicate how these effects are supposed to interact. An across the board UI fix here would allow players to see a breakdown of where their stats are coming from, by source, and what % impact it has on each of their attribute, such as from gear, food, utility consumables, or traits, without having to actually slot it first, possibly at an armor-repair station so as to not blow out the during-gameplay UI. Being able to see the exact number of points they are away from their next +1% or 1sec effect increase would be helpful too. )
In the case of the attributes themselves, each attribute should be viewed as a component of a larger puzzle, that each have their own, special identity. By considering which professions, skills, weapons, and group content are defined by which attributes, much stronger combinations of those attributes should arise.
With these roles defined, each attribute combination becomes not just a build type, but a distinct element of encounter design. Simply select two sets of 2-3 different attributes, combine them together, and you have a meaningful encounter:
The main problem with these "Attributes as Roles" designs, is the gear combinations themselves. 4-Stat prefixes carry such a staggering advantageous weight over 3-stat prefixes, and Celestial over most 4-stat prefixes, that the more 'roles' are added to an encounter design, the more 4-stat and Celestial gear carries the day. While all the rest of this can be done fairly easily without disrupting metas too badly, I would honestly, personally, recommend lowering the stats associated with 4-stat and Celestial gear, even by 5% total, to help 3-stat gear, which is infinitely more narrow in application, stronger and more specialized for purpose. Additionally, changing which stat conversions exist on which professions, how, and increasing what % they take from other, less ideal attributes, could mean that each of the nine professions stand to benefit from different attribute combinations than each other, which would help enormously in bringing value to the 33 underperforming stat combos.
Otherwise, were these to be adopted, many different dead or unrecommended prefixes stand to open up, which really highlights the extreme extent to which gear has been made useless in this game, by merit of the narrow outlook the balance team takes when viewing each profession.
Disappointing outliers include:
Much of this is exacerbated by the fact that stat-selectable gear is so readily available, with every single stat an option. Gearing a new build has turned from what used to be, at minimum, an excuse to run certain dungeons or farm Heart of Thorns, and devolved into a fairly meaningless scramble to grab up stat-select gear from any source, select either Berserker's, Viper's, Harrier's, Diviner's, or Celestial, and sigh in relief as you ignore the game's 33 other options. (Not that all those are ignored, I'm just being facetious. Easily 90% of all online builds use the above 5 options though.)
So. This concludes Part 1. In part 2, I aim to cover how we might pair these 'attribute roles' with mechanical effects in different classes that help produce roles not currently recognized by ArenaNet. In the meantime, I'd like to open discussion:
  1. Should each professions be expected to benefit from a more personal set of gear attributes? Overlap is guaranteed in many cases, but should we see more cases such as Ritualist's, which is only desirable on professions with Vitality conversion? Or should all professions benefit identically from the same prefix options?
  2. Are there any archetypes or build fantasies that you think our current selection of attributes could be used to address, but currently aren't in the game, such as Expertise affecting trap duration? If so, what are they, which profession would be doing it, and which attributes do you think would enable it?
  3. Do you think stats being freely available is a good thing, or would you be interested in different attribute sets looted from specific zones or content types? For example, high-durability gear looted by roaming open world, or that different metas drop gear with prefixes that are explicitly designed to help you defeat it? Or that 'raid-ready' gear prefixes be looted from champions, strikes, and raids themselves?
  4. Should 4-stat and Celestial be nerfed, or 3-stat buffed, in order to make them more appealing? If not, what purpose do you propose for 3-stat, non-Berserker gear?
  5. If more content started to use a greater variety of challenges, other than just "hit big monster make big numbers go up more", would you be excited to experiment with different gear setups, in order to be better prepared for the challenges of each encounter? Or, do you prefer having a small number of loadouts, that can handle any and all content in the game?
As always, thanks for reading! If you have critiques, let me know! And if you're interested in Part 2, find it here! [link later]

2023.04.01 00:00 Tompkins-275 When does this game get hard?

What the title says. No, I’m not asking this to be a dickhead to those who find the game very challenging; that’s actually where I want to be.
I’ve just picked up Rise a few weeks ago after playing the ever-loving fuck out of World (my first MH game). Here’s the thing: I found world really, really hard. Obviously, it being my first game of the series would have exacerbated that but even 300 hours in I was routinely getting my ASS kicked because the materials, and therefore armour and weaponry that you had access to at any given time couldn’t really make you OP, unless you were an augs/decos/meals guru. AND I LOVED IT! What a rush it was when you beat a monster that had been routinely handing you your shit!
Now, in Rise, I don’t feel like I’m getting this feeling, and I think maybe it’s down to monster health and damage being lessened? Idk. But if I use anything close to recently-unlocked equipment, hunts literally take me 5 minutes. And I’m not even that good! I don’t know monster movesets, I don’t know weapon statistics or map layouts; I get hit constantly. But despite this, with a few potions and after a few mins of generic slashing, every monster just keels over, even the poster monster Magnamalo!
I just made it to HR4, and Hinoa promised a big increase in difficulty, so I was really excited and hopeful that THIS ISSUE WOULD GET RESOLVED. Then I practically 5-tapped a Rathian. So my question is this: when will the game get really hard, and provide that sense of accomplishment I loved World for so much?
And if there’s a difficulty setting TELL ME! Lol

Eberron: Rime of the Frostmaiden
The icy grip of winter has descended upon the Ten Towns in the frontier of the Icewhite Island. The skies have grown dark, and snow and ice cover every surface. Auril, a powerful elemental force, who has taken control of the weather and plunged the frontier into an eternal winter. As the inhabitants struggle to survive in the frigid conditions, a group of adventurers must brave the dangers of this untamed land to uncover the secrets that lie under the ice before it's too late. Will they succeed, or will the winter rule eternal?
Campaign: Rime of the Frostmaiden is a modern classic that incorporates survival, wonder, horror, heroic adventure and boundless opportunity. Heavily rewritten to be longer and more consistent internally and with the new setting, this campaign will take you to level 15 - or beyond, depending on player choices and agenda.
Setting: Icewhite Island, Eberron. Right before the start of the Last War it hosted a number of small colonies in a gold rush for untouched bounty of dragonshards, ore and rare magical materials - but war stagnated the expansion, as nations and dragonmarked houses turned their attentions inward. With the war over and interest to the Ten Towns finally renewed, a new threat now looms over the horizon and the players will be instrumental in the coming conflict for hearts, minds and resources of the this frozen frontier.
Cost: $15/player per session via PayPal. Session 0 will be free.

I always tailor my campaigns to player preference and character's interests. My job is to immerse you into the setting, hopefully make you care about the characters and the world around them - and to make it all fun for everyone involved.

2023.03.31 19:04 5BaggerCalls Why Copper Should Be A Top Bet For Investors, And My Due Diligence Summary On Interra Copper & Alto Verde Copper (CSE: IMCX & OTC: IMIMF): Company, Projects, Management, Share Structure, etc.

Why Copper Should Be A Top Bet For Investors, And My Due Diligence Summary On Interra Copper & Alto Verde Copper (CSE: IMCX & OTC: IMIMF): Company, Projects, Management, Share Structure, etc.
Copper is the unsung hero of the modern world, powering industries ranging from construction to electronics and transportation. And with the demand for this vital metal continuing to skyrocket, there has never been a better time to invest in it.
Why? Well, for starters, the shift towards renewable energy is driving an explosion in demand for copper. Experts predict a whopping 57% increase in copper demand by 2030, thanks to the rise of electric vehicles, solar panels, and wind turbines. And here's the kicker: electric vehicles require three times as much copper as traditional gas guzzlers. That's a whole lot of copper!
But the supply of this precious metal is not keeping up with demand, which means prices are set to soar. The quality and quantity of copper production are decreasing, with average ore grades falling from 1.5% in 2000 to less than 1% in 2019. That means more ore needs to be processed to get the same amount of copper, which translates to higher production costs and lower profits for mining companies.
Add to that the fact that governments around the world are investing heavily in infrastructure projects that require tons of copper, and you've got a perfect storm for a copper investment bonanza. For example, the US government has just announced a massive $2.3 trillion infrastructure plan, which will boost demand for copper in the coming years.
So if you're looking for an investment opportunity with serious potential, copper is the way to go. As one savvy market analyst, over 750K views, put it, it's "one of the most asymmetrical bets in all of markets."
https://twitter.com/marketplunger1/status/1640738793278808064

So how does one get exposure in their portfolio to copper?
  1. directly in copper futures or exchange-traded funds (ETFs) that track the price of copper. Copper ETFs include the iPath Bloomberg Copper Subindex Total Return ETN (JJC) and the United States Copper Index Fund (CPER).
  2. investors can gain exposure to copper through diversified mining ETFs, which hold a basket of mining stocks, including copper producers. One example is the Global X Copper Miners ETF (COPX)
  3. Another option is to directly invest in copper mining companies. Some of the largest copper mining companies include Freeport-McMoRan Inc. (FCX), BHP Billiton Ltd (BHP), and Rio Tinto Group (RIO). Investing in copper mining companies traditionally provides leverage to the price of their commodity. The real toque is usually in junior mining companies who are in exploration phase, proving their project has a deposit through discovery and then eventually become economical where they either get it into production, or sell to a major producer who will buy the project for a premium.

Lassonde Curve
The key to the Lassonde Curve – Finding companies with projects in the sweet spot can pay you multiples on your investment!

INTERRA COPPER (CSE: IMCX & OTC: IMIMF)

Interra Copper has signed a Definitive Agreement, as per March 9 news releases, with Alto Verde Copper to combine the two businesses. https://www.thenewswire.com/press-releases/1kVGFO8aG-interra-copper-and-alto-verde-copper-sign-definitive-agreement-for-business-combination.html
The newly amalgamated company will have a portfolio of copper projects in Chile and British Columbia. The newly acquired projects from Alto Verde are located in Chile and will become the primary projects for IMCX which you can learn about from the news release link above.

Interra Copper Chilean Copper Belt Projects
Key Project Highlights:
- Alto Verde’s portfolio spans an incredible 19,850 hectares across the 3 projects listed above.
- These 3 projects were purchased from Freeport McMoRan (NYSE $FCX which has a US $54 Billion market cap). The relationship with Freeport is incredibly strong as several directors & advisors of Alto Verde are former Freeport Executives.
- The Chilean Copper Belt (the location of these projects) accounts for a whopping 28% of the annual copper production in the entire world. Even more specific, the 3 projects are situated near world class mines like Teck’s Quebrada Blanca, BHP’s Spence, and Anglo American Glencore’s Collahuasi.
- The Tres Marias project is the most advanced and currently the most exciting of the 3! It has already had a geophysics programs completed on the project which identified three massive copper porphyry targets which will be the focus of an upcoming drill program.

SHARE STRUCTURE

This is one of the tightest floats you will find!
As per the Definitive Agreement news from March 10.
“On closing of the Transaction, the Company will have approximately 25,363,862 Common Shares outstanding, including the Common Shares issued under the Definitive Agreement, upon conversion of the Subscription Receipts, and the Common Shares issued under the Finder’s Fee Agreement (as defined herein).”
Here’s the breakdown of what’s left for the free float.
5,656,122 shares are from the Subscription Receipt financing dated Feb 2, 2023. These are subject to a hold period until June 3, 2023.
Prior to the financing there would be 16.5M shares between Interra Copper and Alto Verde. Of these shares - Management/Insiders own 32%, Family office (Long term holder) own 14%. The 7,626,684 shares that were issued to Alto Verde are under contractual restrictions and will be released in tranches of “ 20% on the number of days after closing of the Transaction as follows: 120 days, 240 days, 365 days, 456 days and 547 days.”
All the options and warrants, 1.87M for Interra are priced with an average >$2.50 and just 3,359 for Alto Verde are priced at $1.50. Once the D.A. is closed there will be 2.5M warrants at $0.75 – this is really the only head winds and its small, just 2.5M.

CONCLUSION

From the macro to the micro, Interra Copper (IMCX.C / IMIMF) has impressive elements going for it. Strong macro fundamentals in the Copper market show that there will be a bull market in copper for the remainder of this decade and going well into the next too. Interra Copper has fantastic projects in the biggest copper producing formation of the world, and we are surrounded by some of the biggest copper producers in the world … as the saying goes, “the best place to find a new mine, is in the shadow of an old mine” couldn’t be more true for Interra. The valuation is conservative at just a $16M market cap (21M OS trading at $0.75). The float is one of the tightest I’ve seen – a small outstanding share count to start with, and the group made sure shares are escrowed and locked to keep the free float even tighter.
This is perfectly positioned in the Lassonde curve in the pre-discovery / discovery zone. And with the ~3M in cash the company will have upon closing, they are financially positioned for an aggressive drill program to move the project from pre-discovery into discovery where shareholders could make substantial returns on their investment.
