2023.03.30 07:22 Mitsonga Where do you train? (Is Florida too ideal for growth)

Unlike my other inquiries, this has nothing to do with any specific advice. I am genuinely curious where you go to work on skills.
I recently got into an argument with a rather stubborn acquaintance regarding the competency of divers from Florida. He was from the midwest, and was quite insistent that “Floridian divers suck”. Going so far as to say that their local dive center will deny Florida from diving their Quarry. Any input or advice I have to offer with diving is useless.
As you can imagine, being told your input is useless based upon a faulty assumption is frustrating.
Granted, I will be the first to say that my knowledge of ice diving is cursory, I thought I would take the time to highlight where I train.
I also am curious where other divers from around the world go to challenge themselves when learning or practicing skills
Myself? I train at Hudson Grotto. A 136 foot deep limestone sink hole on the west coast of Florida.
With the brackish waters being heavily tannic, natural light is completely absent at 60 feet. Making all dives night dives. There is á hydrogen sulfide layer typically hovering around 95 feet deep above sea water that seeps in through the aquifer. This layer also acts as a thermocline. Changing both salinity, and temperature when descending below. It also has a nasty habit of obscuring dive lights if your buddy happens to be on the other side. When the operators are aerating the water, the compressed air stirs up silt, making visibility around 3 feet. With these factors compounding, you really have your work cut out for you. Practicing navigation, bottle handling, or simulated deco stops without visual reference in this environment is supremely humbling.
Personally, I absolutely love these challenges. The relative safety of having a glorified cylinder as a dive site allows for novice divers to push limits without many of the common dangers typically associated with these challenges.
There is also a host of discarded vans and boats at the bottom. There is also a sort scavenger hunt littering the limestone shelfs.
I am excited to hear where you are training in non ideal condition.
Happy diving

2023.03.30 07:22 swanthewarchief Opening Day Events

So, I know about tomorrows special opening pitchers, but does anyone have an idea on what time it will happen? Is it the same time as usual first pitches? Or is there more ceremony to opening day?
I haven’t been able to find anything in terms of a schedule of events for opening day. Will there be any other special events prior to first pitch? What time would you guys recommend arriving?
Sorry for all the questions, I’ve never been to an opening day and I’m not sure how early I should get there. I’m cutting work early so I gotta calculate my exit lol
I’m usually at games 30-45 min before first pitch, but I’m assuming for opening day I might want to be earlier.
Thanks for any help!

2023.03.30 07:21 Panickedbro Hours getting cut

Hey everyone,
I’ve been working part time at HD for about 7 months and I’ve really enjoyed it so far. I’ve got a pretty set schedule because I’m in college so I’ve tried to keep my hours at a max of 20-24 per week. Lately though, they’ve been cutting my hours to 16 hour weeks and with the most recent schedule I’m down to 12 hours. I’d totally like to have more hours but I think it’s mainly because the store and my department has been over hours each week.
Is this something I could try to talk to my ASM or even our HR about? I just want to get some more hours because as a college kid I’ve gotta pay for school somehow.

2023.03.30 07:20 Drunkenv1c Megatron aka Mardu Feldon

I need help making the final cuts to my new Megatron deck! The list started at over 200 nonland cards which have now been pared down to 88 cards, meaning I only(!) have to cut 23 more cards to get to the 65 nonlands I am shooting for in my final product! Though because I have already cut so many cards I am agonizing over the last 20 or so as there really are no easy cuts left in my eyes. The deck is meant to play a bit like [[Feldon of the third path]] but in mardu, so a beefy artifact creature reanimator deck that is quite grindy. The list is here and I probably do not want to cut any of my 8+ mana cards and wouldnt prefer cutting 7's either but it may be necessary. Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!!

2023.03.30 07:19 grandmasgopnik New to leg/body hair

It’s a little embarrassing but I’m only now growing out my leg/body hair. I always hated having arm/leg/ or like ANY hair on me so I shave like daily. I started shaving at 7 before I had really any dysphoria because I just liked being smooth/hair free. I just genuinely hate having hair, I have even shaved my eyebrows for most of my life. How do y’all deal with it? Does it get better? Is there anything I can do to make it more tolerable because man I’m ITCHY. I’m going on a beach vacation for my 10th year anniversary 🥰 and I really don’t wanna be misgendered 🥲 so I figured the hair would help out. If y’all have any advice it would be greatly appreciated.

2023.03.30 07:18 Throwaway-912873465 Processing this for the first time and questioning if it was covert sexual abuse.

I started having a lot of flashbacks recently about comments and things my dad would do that made me feel uncomfortable and brought up a lot of shame, so I started journaling and then it all kind of started floating up to the surface. I have felt anger and resentment towards my dad since I was a child. I don't know if he has NPD, but he definitely has narcissistic traits. I don’t feel comfortable being around my dad, hugging him or wearing anything that may cause attention/a glance from him. For some reason a part of me is wanting to deny that any of this was out of the ordinary and I’m being overdramatic. But I know that my feelings of being uncomfortable around my dad are coming from somewhere.

Unleash Your Inner Diva with Paula Young Wig’s Tips and Styling Ideas

Tips & styling ideas with Paula young hair wigs

If you're new to wigs or even a seasoned pro, it's always helpful to have some tips and styling ideas to help you switch up your look. That's where Paula Young comes in - as one of the top wig brands in the business, they know a thing or two about wigs. Without further ado, enjoy these styling suggestions from Paula Young.

Bob Wigs

Bob wigs are a classic and timeless style that will never go out of fashion. If you're looking to rock a short bob wig, there are a few things to keep in mind.
  • First, make sure you choose a wig that's the right length for your face shape - a shorter bob may work better for a round face, while a longer bob may work better for an oval face.
  • Second, consider the wig's texture - a sleek and straight bob will give off a different vibe than a wavy or curly bob. Finally, don't be afraid to play with the color - a pop of color can take a classic bob to the next level.

Rooted Wigs

Natural-looking hair with color roots wigs
Color roots wigs are a great way to add depth and dimension to your hair. These wigs feature darker roots that gradually lighten towards the ends, mimicking hair's natural growth pattern. If you're looking to rock a rooted wig, there are a few styling tips to keep in mind.
  • First, consider the color - a rooted wig with a subtle transition may work better for a natural look, while a more dramatic contrast may work better for a bold statement.
  • Second, think about the length and texture of the wig - a long, wavy wig with rooted highlights can create a beachy, bohemian vibe, while a short, straight wig with rooted lowlights can create a sleek and sophisticated look.

There are so many different types of wigs out there, each with its unique style and vibe. Whether you're rocking a classic bob wig or a trendy rooted wig, the key is to have fun and experiment with different types until you find the one that makes you feel confident and fabulous. With Paula Young's tips and styling ideas, you'll find the perfect wig for your taste and personality.

2023.03.30 07:18 ThrowRA_mixael married friend (38m) in a closed marriage (38f) hit me (35m) up for a booty call. help!

hi reddit! bear with me on this one as it's my first post here, also on a throwaway because i know for a fact the friends in question both frequent reddit.
so i (35m) am a gay american male in my thirties, relatively recently (past couple years) moved back to the US from a foreign country. during my first year back i made some new friends, a married couple-- H (38f) and S (38m). we were able to cultivate a casual friendship and maintain it even after i moved to a different neighborhood about a year later, our friendship was still casual however and i didn't see them very often, especially after the move.
cut to recently: on the weekend i received a somewhat random text from S. he asked me how i was, i replied, he said i was hot. i said thanks? then we bantered for a bit until he asked me if i was "big". cue minutes-long pause in the conversation. i asked if he and H had an open marriage, and was met with deflection. i supportively asked some other things about being attracted to the same sex, he continued to flirt... and honestly, he was REALLY insistent about getting together that same night. repeated asks re location and how we would go about meeting. he asked me if i wanted to see his: i thanked him for asking and said no. finally i told him i was tired and we said goodnight.
my question is: do i tell his wife?????? i had never had any sort of inkling or indication that he leaned that way whatsoever, in any of our previous interactions. nor that he would be the type to casually hook up, even with a friend, while in (what i'm assuming to be is) a closed marriage. i've asked friends and family about this matter and they're split: some of them are gunning for me to inform her (which is also my natural inclination) and many, some surprisingly even, are urging me stay quiet and potentially talk with him first. i feel in between a rock and a hard place. how should i proceed?
TL;DR: straight-ish male friend in a closed marriage hit me up for a booty call... want advice on how or if i should tell his wife

2023.03.30 07:17 Emotional_Figure1575 AITA for posting a picture of my bathtub?

I (f31) am engaged to my fiance (m33) we have been together for 8 years, engaged less than one, living together for 2 months. I didn't grow up rich. Our childhood home was foreclosed, and we barely got by after that.
My parents worked hard. I always saw that. And I made sure I got a good job to pay as much of their bills as I could.
When my fiance and I moved in together, the master bath is my favorite place. It has a big jacuzzi tub! We both have well paying jobs (he gets paid more than me) (should mention I'm 6 foot tall female. I don't fit in normal tubs. It's usually half my body) I spent about a month cleaning this thing, running cycles, and bought everything from a tub tray to brushes, to bath salts just to enjoy a REAL BATH!
This is a luxury to me and one im proud of. Anyways, I set up everything! Music playing glass of wine. I posted a picture of the set up with the caption "guess I'm bougie now" and the only ones I have on IG are my friends (that know my humor and family) after me soaking in this monster of a tub I get dressed and go out. My fiance says "I need to talk to you" and he takes me to our computer room and on the screen he has a definition of "boast" he makes me read it. I ask "what's this for" and he says you should be more humble. That post you made bragging... I cut him off mid sentence. I told him to stop and I left. He came into the bedroom and gave me a lecture on being humble and not bragging. I felt like a child and told him to leave me alone.
I deleted the post to just keep him happy. But I don't understand why I can't be happy for what we worked for.
AITA for posting a picture of my bathtub? Was I overreacting?

2023.03.30 07:17 nunatak16 6 day loop in the WP Fold

The Fold (or Reef further north) is a very long wrinkle in the earth in Utah. Steep, rugged and remote this loop is centered around the southern end of the Fold with weird domes and spires on the east side and dramatic sandstone canyons cutting into the long sloping west side.
The route focused on climbing the two high points in the area in addition to linking a series of hard to get in and out of canyons, all while doing a big loop.
On the 70 mile route we found no maintained trails but did follow a game path for an hour or so on day 4. We saw no one else, despite this is the busy hiking season in the canyons.
Driving the last two hours to our east side start we encountered only four vehicles, a couple of which were a tow truck pulling out a wanna-be overlander. As Brian like to say when bouncing us across some remote mesa in his beat up Ford Exploder: “Overlanding? It’s called car camping. Been doing it forever“.
The trailhead was decided for us when the road ahead suddenly was completely washed out by a flash flood from the day before. We loaded our packs and soon descended steeply into the significant crevice of HC Canyon before the 2000’ climb to a divide in the Fold. Eventually down in the canyons on the other side things got complex.
Several days later we again emerged on top of the Fold but much farther north. After a day and a half traversing the lofty spine we picked our way down a remote part with striking arches and deep pools to finish off.
Planned with GE and Caltopo the route pays homage the great Steve Allen by linking parts of three of his adventures with some home brewed lines on the map.
The difficulty felt moderate; YMMV. We have a good amount of experience with one mile-an-hour terrain on the Plateau. Hauling and lowering packs is second nature and a willingness to solo fourth class with exposure is often just a deep breath away. The main challenge on this one is dead accurate navigation and constant focus while off trail’ing for 10 hours a day. Going solo would have been outside my comfort zone due to remoteness and lack of help with the dog, because, as Charlie Brown knows well: If my dog can't go - I'm not going.
Hardest isolated moves was the exit of F Canyon via a steep fifth class wall above slippery Moqui steps. The longest rope assisted obstacle was 70’ tall and a day earlier.
My dog took it all in stride, so maybe it all wasn’t so bad.
Water is always a serious planning concern on the Plateau. This trip was sketched out years ago and laid dormant on my computer waiting for the conditions that came together this late March: a couple of big spring storms covered the area with flash floods followed by an unseasonably cold high pressure: potholes and canyon bottoms got filled with water before we arrived and highs in the low forties kept it there for the entire trip. There was snow in the deep shade of the incredible mile long ledge walk 800’ above GC Canyon.
Our TPW was around thirty pounds. That included newly built framed packs for testing, 80’ of 6mm rope, a brick of a film camera and some real coffee brewing luxuries boosted by a sack of heavy cream powder.
While we shared a 9x9 mid between three six foot plus guys and a dog, each of us did bring a white gas kitchen and the delicious food choices were individually packed, but carefully traded. To see us thru the cold evenings we took turns making pots of Mormon tea with raisins. All these core-warming hot drinks and elaborate dinners consumed a whopping 20 ounces of fuel per person.
Pro Bars and Lenny & Larry Complete cookies, in addition to salami, cheese, Fritos and torts completed the picture.
We used aqua mira as the silty post flood water would have killed a filter immediately. Cooking water needed no treating.
In packing our layers all us under estimated the wind and day-time biting cold, especially the conditions on top of the Fold. We even got hit with a couple of squally snow storms on the day long traverse from Cliff to Hall.
Lows hit the teens despite keeping all camps out of the deep canyon bottoms with their notorious pooling of cold air. Sharing a well sealed tent, wearing pretty much everything and eating a solid high fat diet gave us reasonable comfort with our non-quilts, aka sleeping bags, rated in the high twenties.
Phone/GPS navigation in this sort of complex terrain was indispensable. I loaded all phones with the route on 7.5 quads plus springs and known pothole waypoints. I also added pics of the appropriate pages from Allen’s book. We had three big power banks and spare charging cables, plus the redundancy of two capable apps with different map sets: iHike and MapOut. No single paper map covered the whole route so we didn’t bring any; also no one owned an emergency satellite beacon.

2023.03.30 07:17 big-tike Are there any guides to reducing expenses?

I understand budgeting every dollar, tracking your spending, and trying to cut down on bills, but are there any guides that lay out how to go about this? Of course there’s YNAB, but what process should I use to take my budget in YNAB, then slash it so that it’s more reasonable? I make $23.50 an hour and my monthly expenses total over $4000. I need to reduce these expenses by a lot, but I really don’t want to fledge out my whole situation on Reddit asking for advice only to get next to no engagement. I would be happy to do so if I knew I could get a good amount of advice, but right now I’m looking for methods people use to do it on their own. Any input is appreciated!

2023.03.30 07:15 KingWussy28 I need some help with finding good and proper equipment for a small off-grid solar setup.

I am planning on buying equipment for a very small, off-grid solar panel system. I will be getting a 12volt, 30 watt solar panel that comes with a PWM controller (unknown amperage rating) and wiring.(Getting it free from Temu, which is why I am planning) (1pc 12 Volt Solar Panel Solar Trickle Charger Portable Solar Battery Charger Maintainer With Lighter Plug Alligator Clip - Patio, Lawn & Garden - Temu) (Not a referral link. Only a link to the aforementioned product)
I know that I need a battery (to store power) (estimated 6 peak sun hours) and a power inverter (to convert to 120 volts) but I am still confused as to what exactly to buy. Due to budget constraints and safety concerns, I chose a 12volt, 15Ah lithium battery ( OGRPHY 12V 15Ah LiFePO4 Battery, 192Wh Grade A Cells Lithium Battery with BMS, Up to 5000+ Deep Cycles Battery for Fish Finder, Kids Scooter, Security System : Automotive) and a 200 watt 12V to 120V power inverter ( 200W Car Power Inverter 12V DC to 110V AC Converter with 3.1 A Dual USB Quick Car Charger Adapter : Automotive). I am not sure if this battery or even the inverter is okay for solar panel operation, so please help me with this (kind of guessing at this point). Genuinely confused with all the amps, watts, and volt conversions, and also power loss calculations.
I don't plan on using high wattage equipment, mostly my laptop charger, and phone charger. Maybe my power banks (20,000mAh for portable phone charging) too. (No desktop computer, screen monitor, hair dryer, space heater, fridge, freezer, or microwave).
This is equipment planning. Solar panel placement isn't really one of my concerns right now, but help with the angles (solar panel tilt) and the wiring is much appreciated.
Please help, and thanks again!🥦🌴🌵
