2023.03.22 01:23 ExoticPlastic3330 Bare minimum PPTO question

Hey, so I work a 4h30m shift tomorrow, my hours have been lighter lately.
I had my wisdom teeth out last week and there's a good chance my gums are becoming infected. I can only meet with my oral surgeon tomorrow afternoon or any other afternoon that happens to be while I work. Naturally, the sooner the better.
Problem is, I have 4h22m PPTO. As far as I know this is the bare minimum for my shift, no? I could clock in at 9:09 and clock out at 1:21, so if accounting for the 9 minute rule on both ends, 4h22m PPTO would barely make it. I'm at 4.5 points as is because I was only given 2 days to recover and I needed another day. They also gave me a point when I didn't show up when I got 30 inches of snow simply because they only got a foot (I work out of state but it's only 20 minutes away). There was zero chance of me making it, I was snowed in, plow kicked the bucket and the roads weren't done.
My managers really suck ass. They fired one of the best, kindest workers in the whole store because he couldn't make it that day, just like they fired another one like him just because he was friendly with a cart pusher who happened to be stealing. Yet, they let some creepy kid who was stalking female employees, threatening team leads and stealing on a DAILY BASIS right in front of everybody work there for months before firing him. They were probably afraid he'd shoot the place up, given he had made some comments... but Idk.
Anyway, just wondering about the PPTO. I could vent about how much Walmart, especially my Walmart sucks but that's not important right now.

I started fly fishing last year with a Cortland 5wt combo from walmart. When I started out, I was mostly after smallies and panfish, which was a blast. Bushwhacking and wading small streams with ultralight spinning gear is one of my favorite things, so I figured I 'd give it shot on the fly now that spring is (sort of) here in Connecticut. I've gone out a few times, but it's been a bit frustrating navigating getting around logs, trying to get short precise casts with trees everywhere, and trying to carry my rod through cover. I'm more than happy to save up for a smallelighter weight rod, but in the meantime, do ya'll have any tips for fishing small streams with what I have now? I'm working on my roll cast, but other than that I'm not sure what else I can do. Thanks!
