I am a cook, I work in remote locations and by nature of my job prepares the flesh of animals for consumption. But never again would I personally indulge in the exploit of animals. My job provides housing and food and contracts me to isolated locations for months at a time but because of seasonal nature offers no permanent residence. Were i to quit tomorrow I’d have nothing to my name. Not a residential address nor state Id. My question stands then as to if I can consider myself vegan despite my best attempts within the constrictions of my job. Personally I think work is inherently exploitive and intrinsic to how far reaching the animal industrial complex reaches. Could a truck driver who delivers meat call himself vegan? A nurse that serves it to patients? A pilot of a plane or lawyer who defends Pepsi Co? What are your thoughts.

Looking to either rent or sell my property in Tampa FL in about 2-3 years but know nothing about real estate. Hoping to get some advice on what my options are.
We purchased our home for about $270k in 2019 and I say we could sell in today's market for around $450-500k. Our mortgage rate is 3.8% and monthly payment is around $1600 (which includes hoa fees, mortgage, etc). In our neighborhood, we can get around $2500-$3000 (maybe more) in monthly rent. My neighbor is renting his home for $2800 so I just reference that as a rental estimate. Since we would be moving out of state, a portion of that rental income would need to go to a property management company. Or alternatively, I sell and use the equity towards our next home which will likely cost more.. budgeting around $500k.
With the market being so crazy here, I feel like I would be losing out if I sold it and would gain more in equity by holding onto it and renting for some time. Also since we plan to move out of state (mainly due to schools), I fear maybe I would want to return one day in retirement or perhaps have the option to have the space as a vacation home If finances allow (TBD). We have also put a lot of work into remodeling and I have quite an emotional connection to the house. I know I shouldn't use emotion in any decision, but that's why I'm seeking advice.

Hello, I’m 26(F) and I just got my Kyleena IUD removed earlier today (currently 4 hours post removal). I wanted to share my experience and updates because I know these types of posts helped me a lot and hopefully I can help someone too.
Background: I got it inserted March 2019. Originally I wanted non-hormonal copper IUD but my gyno basically forced me (in a way) and said she doesn’t insert those … And if I don’t want hormonal I don’t get an IUD lol. Anyways, I caved and got it inserted.
Fast forward to Oct 2019, i had my very first random panic attack at work. From then I was stuck in a constant state of depersonalization/derealization (DPDR). It was this constant DPDR + constant anxiety (a lot of it stemming from the fear of this feeling. This continued until honestly to this day. It would get better and worse. And in Oct 2021 it got really bad. To the point where I felt severely depressed and s**cidal. I finally got the courage to start on Zoloft (a SSRI) which really helped me from Jan 2022 to now.
Why I wanted it removed? I spoke with some people and they mentioned hormonal BC really messed with their mental health. And i thought back to my life pre-IUD and I was never like this. The only anxiety I had was from school/work. Never got bad to the point where i couldnt leave the house or work or socialize. I wanted to have it removed in 2021 but I couldnt build up the courage. All of 2022 i thought about it too but I couldnt get over the fear of going back to that dark place.
Now that I am in a better supportive relationship I finally said enough is enough, fuck it, we can do it.
Removal: Pretty simple and quick. The pain was probably a 2-3/10 nothing more than a small cramp.
How I’m feeling: I cried a lot in the car after. Not because I was sad but because I was so proud and overwhelmed that it actually happened. I honestly felt lighter and I kept screaming IM A FREE WOMANNNNN. Because it felt like these thoughts about the IUD had such a chokehold on me. I do feel a little sleepy but I’m always tired so.
Anyways I hope to do an update soon and I’m happy to answer any questions!

I realize this is a question that has been asked heaps but thought I'd ask anyway.
Our home is normally pretty dry but in winter we end up with condensation on our single glazed, aluminum framed windows. We also do not have an extractor fan in the bathroom but do have the window open basically year round. Summer, autumn and spring the windows are fine but it's winter that the crying windows arrive and we end up with mould on the frames which I can't stand. We open the house daily and actually leave it open most of the day depending on temperature. We have a Panasonic heatpump which heats the entire house pretty well as it's not a massive home.
What's the best option for the condensation, installing a smartvent, hrv or dvs system......or is adding ducting to our existing heatpump an option that might work? Hubby is pretty tight with spending, so I'm trying to compose a good argument to take to him.

Had a “hand to me”. From a woman’s name. And of course it was some house that also had a little side place that looked like an apartment that someone could be in. Anyway as I pull up, a man walks out. I’m assuming it was for him. I asked if he ordered DD. He said yea. I asked the name and he asked me what is the name on the order…..?? Ok that was weird. So then I go back to my car and message the customer. As I’m waiting, 5 other people crawl out of the door. I ask them as well. They were confused too. And no one seemed to know the name of a woman who could possibly have ordered. I wait. She finally messages me and says I can leave it at the door. The whole thing was shady and so now I’m just waiting for a notification or a bad rating about an order not received. So customers.. if you order and have it set to a hand to me, please do as such. If you don’t want to get up and want your orders left, put that in your settings. Also.. if it’s a leave at door.. my ass doesn’t knock unless instructed to do so. I never thought any harm could happen to me. Not because I feel superior to others, but in my town, Brookwood, nothing bad ever happened. You rarely heard of accidents, and homicides or robbery were unheard of. But now, I’ve received PTSD and therapy from an incident in my very own hometown.
Four years ago, I was 23. I played baseball every Saturday, and my life was good. I had bought a dog about eight months prior, a Doberman, her name being Athena. I lived in a house that my late grandparents had left to me. As a child, I never liked staying with my grandparents for even one night, as wildlife seemed to be very active at night.
Eventually I grew out of my fear, assuming that nocturnal animals approached the lake a few hundred meters from our house. Suddenly, one night the noise stopped. Not even a cricket could be heard. Out of nowhere, my eardrums shattered. Hundreds of animal noises could be heard all at once.
I went to investigate the noise after it stopped, but there was nothing. No animals, no sounds. I couldn’t see any rustling in the grass, or any animals chirping in trees. Athena was all that remained, trying to comfort my uneasiness.
Athena has separation anxiety, and appears depressed on any cameras after I leave for work. One day, I beckoned her inside from the backyard. She ran in, and ran upstairs. I paid no attention and left for work.
I checked my home cameras to see how Athena was holding up, but I noticed her laying down next to the door in my room. Eventually, the door closed, locking her in my room. I sighed and reminded myself to open my room door when I arrived home. However, when I came back from my uneventful day at work, I was greeted by my dog.
I was confused. Very confused. I greeted Athena with a skeptical tone in my voice. She seemed to notice this. I checked my phone to see if she was still in my room. She was. Athena seemed to notice this.
I baby-talked her and went upstairs to see if possibly the camera was delayed, and Athena somehow managed to open the door herself. She did not. I opened my door, and Athena greeted me.
I walked to my bedside and grabbed a baseball bat from my equipment bad. I looked downstairs. Athena was not there. I stayed as quiet as possible, discarding my shoes to make less noise. Upon hearing a scuttling, I looked towards the noise. The dog was climbing up a wall. I rushed into my room, and locked the door.
I rushed to my phone to call the police. Upon dialing 9-1-1, I heard a bashing against my door. I heard more, and started hearing splintering. The dog was breaking down my door.
I dialed the number and talked to the operator. I was told to stay calm, and that they would call animal control. My door kept splintering. Eventually, I could see through the door. This thing was no dog. It wasn’t human, it wasn’t animal, it was just a thing.
The thing had long limbs, and a deformed face. It had huge chunks of flesh missing where its ears used to be, and a completely removed nose. It looked pale, as if there was no longer any blood in it. All of its fur was shedding off instantaneously, as if it was shedding on command. No baseball bat could take the thing down.
I rushed to my bedside drawer. 3 months ago, I got a license to carry firearms. I bought myself a Mark XIX Desert Eagle to use in shooting ranges, just for fun. I thought this would save my life. I was wrong.
The thing broke through the door, and stared me down for a few second. It started moving towards me, and I fired. I had used one magazine. It was still standing. Two magazines. It still stood. Three magazines. It stayed strong.
The thing leaped at me, and I realized my inevitable death. Until my dog came in. My dog jumped at the creature, tearing into its flesh. The creature was dead in a matter of seconds.
Animal control arrived, finding me stunned on the ground, my dog comforting me, and an alien corpse in the middle of the room. They took the corpse back, informing me that they would get back to me with what the thing was.
When they reached out to me, they informed me that it had no signs of life. It had no cells, nor DNA. It was as if it had turned into a hyper-realistic, flexible statue. I didn’t care for the information though. What I did care for was seeking therapy.
I ended up with PTSD from the event, and a large dependence on my dog. Even four years after the event, I still have nightmares about it sometimes. Sometimes I hear the hissing sounds the creature made right behind me. However, whenever these happen, I always have my dog to rely on.

I want to purchase a Bolt EV soon and I want some input on whether my hypothetical charging setup would be safe enough to use while I'm awake after work and can keep a watch over it. Definitely feel free to tell me "no, this is stupid", please talk me out of it.
Anyway, I have a 14-30 dryer outlet that I want to use by plugging into it a switched splitter (https://www.homedepot.com/p/AC-WORKS-30-Amp-125-Volt-250-Volt-NEMA-14-30-4-Prong-Dryer-Plug-to-2-NEMA-14-30-4-Prong-Dryer-Connections-with-Switch-EVY1430SW-036/317434949) that forces only the dryer or the charger to be enabled (to completely eliminate the risk of running both at the same time), and then into that switch I'll be running a 50 foot extension cable (https://www.homedepot.com/p/AC-WORKS-50-ft-10-4-Gauge-30-Amp-125-Volt-250-Volt-NEMA-14-30-4-Prong-Dryer-Heavy-Duty-STW-Extension-Cord-1430PR-050D/320883317), and into that I'll be plugging an EVSE that's hard limited to 16 amps, UL listed, from a reputable brand (https://store.clippercreek.com/level2/level2-12-to-15/level-2-charging-station-16-amp-amazinge).
The outlet is installed in a mobile home just a few feet from the breaker, so the wire run in the wall is very short, and the extension cable is a heavy duty 4 prong 10 gauge cable rated for 30 amps at 240v.
The dryer I'm using has a sticker on it saying that it also requires a 30 amp cable, and it's been used safely on this outlet for years, so I'm assuming based on that, that the wiring and the outlet can handle 16 amp continuous just fine. Is that a bad assumption? I'm also hoping that the splitter, long extension cable, and the EVSE cable are okay over such a distance, but I'm thinking that limiting to a 16 amp charger (instead of going up to 24) would make it as safe as possible in this ridiculous scenario (that I can't change because it's a rental). Also the EVSE I'm looking at is UL certified, indoooutdoor capable, and from clipper creek, a reputable dealer afaik, if those things make any difference. All of the parts I'll be using are UL listed, actually.
Am I being careful enough? Is all of this enough precaution to safely charge a Chevy Bolt EV at 240v 16 amp, so I can replenish a 6 day 65 mile commute from just a mobile home's dryer outlet? If my calculations are correct I won't even need to leave it while I sleep, I should be able to get my entire commute back in my time after work at home, so I'll be right there monitoring it for extra safety.
Feel free to tell me it's a bad idea and just wait 'till I can buy a house to buy an EV. I was just thinking that level 1 just isn't feasible for 65 miles 6 days with efficiency losses in winter, and it would definitely be less safe to use because I know these 120v outlets in this place are loose and have been repeatedly plugged and unplugged for years and could definitely overheat and catch fire from 10+ hours of charging from a slightly loose level 1 charger, whereas the dryer plug has been unplugged maybe 6 times total in its' lifespan, and is rated for almost double what I'll be asking from it, albeit traveling through a very very long run of extension cable. Using the switch will prevent future replugging and loosening of the 14-30 outlet, though, so the plugs should all avoid any wear and tear.

Spyderco Knifejoy Bowie - 400
Not as nice as the original one from spyderco, but still glassy smooth and razor sharp, with a bank vault full titanium chris reeve lock. The previous owner carried this a bit, so there is a bit of wear on the blue anodizing, and some scratches near the lock area and under the pocket clip. I think he also added a mirror edge on the blade that I tried to capture the best I could in the video.
Spyderco Smock S30V - 180
The second detent is still in place, and the only mod is that the previous owner installed a wire clip so you can deep carry it. No flaws or issues with the knife asides from that, and the original clip is still included with the knife.
Spyderco Kapara CQI - 150
No flaws that I can see. Action is extremely smooth especially with the CQI improvements, and edge is still factory without much use past cutting some printer paper. Too large for where I live, where anything over 3" is a "deadly weapon" so I never carry it outside of the house. I haven't ever used it for cooking, but the ergonomics feel perfect for it, and the carbon fiber is the perfect combination of grippy and classy.
Spyderco Sage 1 CF - 100
Discontinued years ago, and still shaving sharp with flawless scales. I've never carried or used this knife outside of testing it on paper. Action is also glassy smooth and easily flickable. I'd carry this more but I prefer front flippers and thumbstuds for their more streamlined profile.
Kahr Arms Delica - 225
Got this when my wife and I were planning on moving to Boston so I'd still have a functional yet legal knife to carry around. We changed our mind, and I like the dragonfly more anyways so I'm letting this one go. It's more difficult to get your hands on these nowadays with everything going on, so grab it while you can. No flaws on the blade or on the scales that I can see.
Shamwari CLONE - 120
This is a CLONE with carbon fiber handles and a beautiful M390 blade. I don't support clones, but hey it's already out there so if you want to try out a 3.3" Shamwari before dropping 2.5K on a full custom this is the knife for you. Action is obviously not as nice as the custom, but it's as glassy smooth and drop shutty as you can get at this price point.
ShamWEri - 325
This is a production version of the famous Shamwari made in collaboration with WE knives. One of the best production folders I've ever handled, and while it is obviously not as nice as the custom version, it's as close as you're going to get at 1/4 the price. The edge is still factory, and there are light snails on the handles, pivot, and pocket clip. Action is smooth as glass, and is extremely fun to fidget with due to the front flipper deployment. Finally, unlike the custom, this blade is 20CV rather than M390, which I'm told are basically the same steel just different names.

Once I turn 18, my parents are going to evict me from our house if I don’t pay them $500 monthly for rent. So at that point, I’ll need a job. I do have about 2 years left until this happens, but I want working experience so I’m not thrust out into the world with no clue how jobs work.
My job market is severely limited, though. Depression, anxiety, ADHD, autism, and an addiction impact my abilities to focus on work and socialize with strangers. Ideally, I would have an accommodative work environment. Calmness and flexibility are very important to me, too. But it seems impossible to find a “beginner” job that would allow that; areas like fast food and retail are very social and high-paced, and seem really stressful.
What are options for part-time jobs that would play to my strengths?

If there was a flair for all of the above I would have selected it, I have been in a really horrible spot in life for the last 3 years.
I live with my single father who I don’t have a great relationship with and we are a lower class family. I understand still living with my father at my age should be seen as a privilege, and I am aware of that. I am overall respectful to him and his house and am thankful for all he does for me, despite how horrible he may make me feel at times.
I am in my tenth semester in a four year CS program and will not be graduating until april of 2024. I have retaken over three entire semesters worth of courses in my time at school be it from dropping a class midway through or failing it. I work part time at a gas station during school and have never worked a job related to my field but have pretty much always had part time employment during school since I was 16 and worked full time general labour positions in summers. I am almost 30 thousand in debt in student loans and i am running out of money. Last year because of my horrible academic performance I was restricted from receiving loans and paid my last two semesters out of pocket. I only took 3 courses in each semester so I could afford it and because clearly I can’t handle 5. To top it off I have been hiding most of this from my father, siblings, and friends. They are now aware that I have failed some courses since i’m still in school after 4 years, but they don’t know the reality of my situation and that I still have another year to go.
This entire situation has been eating me alive and I am finding it harder and harder to keep going. I have thought about killing myself everyday for the last 3 years and that isn’t an exaggeration. I cannot go a day without thinking about ending it, some days are really bad and i’ll go into deep contemplation but others it’s just a thought in the back of my head that never goes away. My life has felt like nothing but endless stress and i don’t want to do it anymore.
