2023.03.22 07:35 PeppyMoss Potential Additional Features that would make Transformers: Tactical Arena a Lot Better.

In this post, we are going to discuss any cosmetic, functional, or gameplay-related features that could be added to Transformers: Tactical Arena to improve the players’ experience while playing the game. Red Games Co. nailed the gameplay itself and have already proven their ability to deliver great new cards, arenas, emotes, and music tracks in almost every update, but this list will include features that will improve this game in general, either improving the feel of the gameplay or adding more things to do in the main menu screen. These are going to be the types of additions the game needs to have before it can grow any further and expand to a wider audience. The list will be numbered in order of most wanted to not as most wanted, but still wanted (based on my personal preferences). Brace yourselves, here it goes:

  1. Add a selectable Landscape mode for mobile users:
There are two perspectives available to play the game in: Portrait mode and Landscape mode. Unfortunately, these perspectives are locked in to the system a player uses, with Portrait mode being limited to iPad and iPhone devices while Landscape mode is limited to Macs and Apple TVs. It would be impossible to implement Portrait mode to Macs and Apple TVs as that would limit the player’s perspective, but players on iPhones and iPads should be given a new option in the Settings that would allow them to choose whether to play the game in Portrait Mode, Landscape mode, or Both, depending on the device’s orientation. I would love to have the option to try playing this game in Landscape mode as it would totally change the perspective and the way I play along with it. You have no idea how frequently I miss while using Graviton Nexus because of the current portrait perspective I am limited to.

  1. Add a Match History feature with a controllable camera for Photo Mode:
This game needs a Match History of some sorts. Perhaps have the option positioned in the main menu between the Crates and Practice options. Not to crowd a respective device’s memory, the Battle Log should have 10 slots, which would fill in every time a Battle is played, sorted from latest at the top to recent at the bottom (preferably with times and dates indicated). If all 10 slots are filled, the recent game (10th in the list) would be automatically permanently deleted and the slot filled in with the next recorded game in queue, and so on. However, users would be given the option to Favorite or Save match replays of their choosing, which would go into a menu next to the Battle Log, have this option called Saved. The number of slots could be either infinite or a maximum of 30 saved replays. This is where the fun begins: the match replays would work in real time similarly to how the tutorial videos for the cards work. This would allow players to do the following: 1) Change perspective, viewing the match play out from their side or from the opponent’s side; and 2) Have a free cinematic camera mode that would give the players two cursors that would allow them to fly the camera around the arena and position it in ways like we have seen only in the trailers for TTA, almost like in Totally Accurate Battle Simulator. This would allow players to create cinematic shots, get clips of cool moments from various perspectives, follow Megatron or Scorponok around as they ravage through the arena. Imagine the amount of advertising it would allow for if players started posting videos of Bumblebee Super Punching a turret from a close up shot, or Starscream swooping in in jet mode.

  1. Add more game modes:
A lot of people ask for a story mode to be added to the game. Though a story mode would be incredible, it’s a lot to ask for, considering how much work it would take to make. However, we as players have been stuck battling each other or the A.I. solo for more than a year now. I love this game for what it is, it has incredible gameplay that keeps holding it up despite its cons, but it can get boring and repetitive fast, and sometimes I have trouble pushing myself to play through five games every day. Giving players the option to play more modes would highly increase the replayability of this game. For example, when pressing on the Battle button from the Main Menu, instead of a wait queue immediately starting, players would be greeted by another menu, asking them which mode they want to Battle in. The options would be 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, and perhaps Story Mode as the lower option (which would be an entire menu in of itself). Yes, you read that right, Red could go so far as to add a 3v3 mode. A while ago, I used to play a game called Mini Guns – Omega Wars. It’s dead now (servers shut down), but it was a unique Clash Royale-inspired mobile game with impressive visuals and fun original gameplay, similar to Transformers: Tactical Arena. It was later added to Steam as well, something I would love to see happen to TTA. There were 4 ways to play the game: it had a story mode, 1v1, 2v2, and 3v3. 3v3 was chaotic and at the same time the best way to play the game, because if your cards were underleveled, you had two teammates who could carry you if they were maxed out, and you were thus more likely to win in 3v3 than in 2v2 and 1v1 modes. I want Transformers: Tactical Arena to have such similar features from Mini Guns – Omega Wars because it’s going to make the game so much more replayable.

  1. Add more profile customization:
Giving us the option to purchase and choose from a variety of Banners and Avatars was one of the most brilliant things the developers added to this game. However, being able to customize only three things (our names, portraits, and banners) is not enough. How about adding customizable Frames to our tags, such as Bumblebee or Sunstreaker sitting on top, or a boombox around our profile tag, or Scorponok’s claw, Starscream’s Seeker armada, or Soundwave’s minions in every corner of our profile tag? How about adding unique Effects to highlight our tags, such as flames, pink plasma, dripping blue Energon, etc.? How about allowing us to customize our names with unique Fonts? This will monetize the game further and allow us to buy more things with our hard-earned ORE-13.

  1. Add skin selection for unique characters:
Shortly after being first released, Trailbreaker had his eyes changed from the color red to the color blue. Megatron recently had his entire appearance changed as well, from a more G1-inspired one to a more IDW-inspired one. This got me thinking about how more different skins like that could be added to the game for players to purchase with ORE-13 and use to slightly customize the appearance of their favorite characters. For example, Trailbreaker could be given a blue skin with red eyes, while Megatron could be given his G1-inspired skin back, with the players choosing which they want their Megatron to wear, the older one or the newer one.
NOTE: Do not turn unique characters from Transformers lore into simple reskins of cards already in the game. I.E. Do not make Cliffjumper a red reskin of Bumblebee. Cliffjumper and Bumblebee are two totally unique characters with different fighting styles in Transformers lore. Doing so will also confuse the players. Not everyone will be able to tell that a Bumblebee is coming for their turret if he is painted blue, red, or white instead of bright yellow that will immediately jump into the players’ eyes and warn them. Do not turn Skywarp and Thundercracker into Starscream reskins when they are extremely different characters with unique abilities. Not even Nemesis Prime should be an Optimus Prime reskin. The reskins should be limited only to the unique, named characters in question.
Instead, what you could do is make skins of the characters based on their Shattered Glass versions, which would make sense since it’s something the recent update hinted at. Or have the skins be the Generation 2 (G2) repaints of the characters, or their original Marvel comic book appearances, like the red-eyed, blue-painted Trailbreaker, or remodels of the characters based on the IDW comics, like the recent Megatron reskin we got. Keep the skin selection limited to the named characters selected by the players while customizing their looks.

  1. Add skin selection for Main and Secondary Turrets.
Similarly to the unit skins presented previously and the turret skins from Clash Royale, Transformers: Tactical Arena can have something similar by allowing players to customize the way their main and secondary turrets look. It would be nice if the main turret could be customized separately from the secondary turrets, or, better yet, *have all three turrets be independently customizable*. The turrets could be labeled Left Turret, Main Turret, and Right Turret during the customization process. Such customization could include festive themes, holiday themes, or, my most wanted proposition, have unique characters become the turrets. Have the main turret be Sky Lynx, who sleeps before being activated, or Tarn sitting on a throne, or Fortress Maximus (with the Secondary Turrets being his extra city mode limbs), or a cloning vat with a Predacon in stasis inside (a reference to Transformers: Prime). Add whatever your imagination tells you to! We as players will love these additions.

  1. Add skin selection for structures:
Similarly to the unit card skin selection and turret skin selection, there should also be skin customization available for the various structures in the game, including the Decoy (players can choose the character model being projected by the Decoy as well as the Decoy base itself), spawners, Teleporters, smaller turrets, and other deployable building cards. If skins are added for units such as Sharkticons, Minions, and Autobot Troopers and Infantry, their skins should be customizable separately from their respective spawners/Teleporters when customizing the appearance of the structure cards themselves, but also included into the customization.

  1. Add in-game death animations:
There is nothing more lame than struggling to destroy Scorponok in-game just to see him pop into some Energon bits on death. It would have been so much better if Scorponok would fall back on death, fall apart, or explode into Energon bits. This could add more elements to the game such as Scorponok dealing damage after exploding on death, similarly to how the NOD Avatar explodes on death in Command and Conquer: Rivals. However, this does not apply to Scorponok only. Other characters should have death animations, such as Jazz getting ripped in half (a reference to his death in the 2007 Transformers movie), Megatron falling to his knees and landing on his chest due to how big and bulky he is, Crosshairs and Spinister spinning out of control and crashing into the ground, Optimus Prime falling back (a reference to his death in the 1986 Transformers movie), Windblade getting blasted back and her sword sticking into the ground (similarly to how Clash Royale’s Knight’s sword sticks into the ground when his is killed), Starscream transforming into his jet and flying away, not actually dying because he is a coward, etc. Minions and Drones would still have their current death animations, while Autobot Infantry and Troopers could have something more unique like breaking apart into parts on death. And keep these death animations relatively short and simple, no longer than 2 or 3 seconds, similarly to the way Metal Slug soldiers die when you shoot them.

  1. Add units emoting at the end of the game:
This may sound confusing but bear with me. Do you know how there is a 1 or 2 second delay between a winning turret being destroyed and the victory screen coming up? Ever played Metal Slug? Ever seen how the enemy troops cheered and celebrated when you died, taunting your death? Ever played Red Alert 2 or 3? Ever seen how the units on the map would start cheering if you achieved victory? Seeing something similar to that in this game would be downright INCREDIBLE. Not only would it taunt your opponent, but it would look fun and good from an entertainment perspective. Autobot Troopers could start throwing their pistols in the air. Autobot Infrantry could dance and jump around. Megatron could strike a victorious pose, hands on hips and straightened out. Optimus Prime could lower his Energon Axe similarly to how does it in the squad selection screen. Grimlock could stomp the ground and release a burst of fire into the air to celebrate. Sunstreaker could start firing rockets into the sky as fireworks. Trailbreaker could start firing at the sky as an act of celebration. Moonracer could holster her sniper rifle similarly to her squad selection idle animation. Bumblebee could start clapping. Brawn could crack his knuckles and fold his arms. Starscream could transform into a jet and fly off. Soundwave could transmit a radio signal. Shockwave could return to plotting his schemes the way he does during his idle animation in the Squad selection screen. Windblade could slowly holster her blade. On the contrary, if the game is lost, the units would have unique scared animations, either shivering in the same spot or panicking and running away. The possibilities are endless.

  1. Add new daily and weekly objectives with higher rewards.
Right now, the game cycles between about 10 different daily challenges that are fairly easy to complete, but the lack of uniqueness is very boring. Add more daily and weekly objectives that involve using newer cards such as Chromia instead of Bonecrusher, for example. Such objectivates would help out newer players and add more spice to more experienced players.

  1. Add more Squad slots:
3 Squads is not enough. Simple as. In comparison, Clash Royale allows players to create 10 different decks at once. Giving us the option to make 5 would be way better than limiting us to 3, even though a similar system to CR could be implemented and we could be given the full 10 Squad slots in TTA as well. I had to overwrite many fun and unique Squads with more practical ones in the past since I had only 3 slots to work with, and I can’t really experiment with making new Squads since I’m trying to stick with the 3 I already have.

  1. Add Squad randomization:
On the topic of Squad creation, it can be difficult for new players to create Squads that work, so creating a button that, once pressed, would auto-generate a random Squad would be great. Every randomly generated Squad would have at least 1 random tactical support card, at least 1 random tank car, at least 1 random win condition car, at least 1 random structure card, at least 1 random ranged unit card, at least 1 random melee unit card, and so on.

  1. Add more Crate types (a greater Crate variety for players to unlock):
The current four types of Crates we have are very good (Common, Rare, Epic, and Arena), but wouldn’t it be better if we had more options to unlock and upgrade cards and get ORE-13? Adding a greater variety of Crates would give players more reason to grind and would make leveling up slightly easier and more fun. You could add a Legendary crate that contained only Legendaries, a Giant crate which would contain the most cards of any other Crate, etc. Anything you could come up with would be better than us being stuck with the same old four (mostly three) types of Crates.

  1. Add more A.I. decks and fix the A.I. itself:
It’s nice to have the current A.I. decks memorized to allow for easy victories, but at the same time this should not be the case. Rather than having the A.I. use randomized decks, simply create more decks for it cycle through than u/Picopede already listed in the following post: (https://www.reddit.com/TransformersTactical/wiki/ai-squads/). Add decks with the new cards, have the A.I. use decks with cards like Starscream, Scorponok, both Chaser cards in one deck, Trailbreaker, Sharlticon Portal, Shockwave, Railgun, and other unused cards that never show up while fighting the A.I. at upper levels. Fix the old decks so that the A.I. knows how to use actual strategies and strong card combinations instead of spamming units like crazy, hoping to overwhelm the human opponents. The A.I. should be more interesting and rewarding to fight.

  1. Add a camera mode in the Squad screen that would allow us to look at the 3D models of the characters closer:
Sometimes, instead of playing the game, it feels good to sit back and take in its beautiful art style, which includes looking at the characters, reading through their bios, and watching their tutorial videos. It would be nice if there was more, if there was an option once you entered the Squad screen and clicked on a card, to press on a button for some sort of Camera Mode and look at the cards in greater detail, from different perspectives. Maybe we could even be given the option to play specific animations for the card we chose, such as first deployment, regular attack, idle animation, and any other animations that card has. This feature would also allow players to look at unique character, structure, and turret skins (proposed to be added in points 5, 6, and 7) from different perspectives before or after purchase in the Supply Shop.

  1. Add a controllable camera to the Crates selection screen:
When it comes to unlocking Crates, it can get a bit boring and repetitive to do so. Despite us getting the Open All button, I am the type of player who unlocks the Crates one by one to visually see the things I get and any milestones I reach with my card levels. This feature is definitely not a must, but it would improve the immersion of the game so much more if we could look at the different types of Crates from different perspectives, especially the unique Arena ones, or any other Crate types the developers might add.

  1. Add sound effects to emotes:
This has the danger of making the game more toxic, but it’s pretty lame to see an emote without actually hearing it. I love the emotes as they are, the way they look and the way they play. However, this addition might take a lot of work to implement, so it should not be a priority.

  1. Make the gameplay feel more smooth:
Now this point is a bit more techy than the previous ones, but this is a complaint about the gameplay itself. There is a certain edge to it, like there is always a delay to the things you do, or the gameplay itself feels choppy, like you are playing at 30 fps instead of 60 fps. I would say this may have been done to conserve battery power, but changing the graphics quality of the game does not improve its flow, in fact it makes the gameplay even more choppy and laggy. If there was an option added to the Settings that would allow to increase the smoothness of the game at the cost of battery usage, that would be great, because the game does not run on mobile the same way it does on the Apple TV, based on watching u/Picopede ’s videos.

  1. Add a wait time for unit deployment.
In Clash Royale, when you want to deploy a card but do not have enough Elixir to do so, being 1 cost point short or so, the game deploys the card wherever you placed it on a certain wait queue that lasts a second or a millisecond before you accumulate enough Elixir, finally deploying the card later than you initially “planted” it. This can be both harmful, if you don’t plan ahead or misplace a card, and powerful, allowing for well-timed clutches and close calls. Transformers: Tactical Arena currently does not have this. You can either deploy a card if you have enough Energon, or you cannot. As a result, you have to hover your finger over the spot where you want to deploy a card while keeping your eyes on the Energon meter, which hinders your vision and allows you to make serious mistakes. Though depleting your Energon is a bad game strategy, this game should still have the same option of deploying your cards on millisecond-long queues, because I missed a lot of close calls and clutch moments due to either not being able to see the screen under my finger or the card I wanted to deploy not being deployed at all.

  1. Allow the deselection of cards in-game.
There is nothing more frustrating than misclicking on the arena after selecting a card but after changing your mind, and deploying a card you did not want to deploy at a random spot on the arena, for example at the bottom of the arena, right above the card selection bar. The only way of deselecting the card you currently have selected is to click on a different card, and you better not accidentally click somewhere randomly on the arena, or else the game will be lost. Players should have the option of deselecting the card they currently have selected. This can be done by either swiping down on the same card (since the card you have selected is raised up), or pressing a new x button added to the selected card, anything would be better then just hovering over what we have selected without being able to click anywhere else on the screen. It would also clear the screen up of the checkered pattern that appears every time you select a card, which would allow for better control of players’ vision.

  1. Fix ranged units not firing at enemy units within melee range.
There is a very annoying bug that happens whenever units approach ranged units really closely - the ranged units just simply stop firing at them. For example, if Optimus Prime enters Charge in his truck mode and Shockwave is standing right in front of him as he passes, Shockwave won’t fire at Optimus and will just allow him to pass without stunning him. This is true for all ranged units, including Sunstreaker, Trailbreaker, Arcee, Jazz, Starscream, Rotorstorm (he won’t fire at units directly under him), etc. The only exception is Megatron who uses Backhand in melee range. Either add melee attacks similar to Megatron’s Backhand to all ranged units or just simply allow them to fire at targets right in front of them.

  1. Add a new leaderboard.
This is an idea proposed by the other people on this Subreddit, such as u/Boosetro. Though I agree with the idea of having more than two leaderboards for a general ranking and the number of turrets destroyed, I don’t know if I agree with this idea in particular. Diving out PvP from PvE would force players to wait to play the game in PvP mode, which is rarely fun, competitive, and thus rather frustrating. People are free to disagree though, and I will leave it up to the developers to think about this point. Perhaps add a new Ranked leaderboard that would be limited to PvP matches.

  1. Add a new Spectator Mode that will allow players to attend and observe other real-time matches.
This feature follows the feature proposed in Part 2. Once a Battle Log feature is successfully added to the game, a Spectator mode should also be added, which would allow players to join and view a random or selected game happening in real time between two other players or between a player and a bot. This addition would be similar to what Clash Royale has. Players playing the game would be able to view how many people are spectating them, and the spectators would be able to use minimized emotes and cheer for the players they are spectating (or the opponents) without distracting either player. The reason I placed this feature so far down in the list is because I don’t consider its addition that important, though other people here may disagree. I never liked the spectator feature in Clash Royale and thus don’t think Transformers: Tactical Arena needs one. However, it’s up to the developers to decide whether they want to implement this or not.

Thus, that amounts to a total of 23 items (and counting) to improve the feel of the game. It is up to the developers to decide whether they want to add these features or not, but I can guarantee they would make the game feel so much better. Please consider some of these. If you have any extra ideas, make sure to comment them down below! Thank you for reading through this list!

2023.03.22 07:31 thehermitcoder My First Attempt at the CISSP

Sorry for the long post.
So out of the blue, I was told by my employer that I need to get CISSP certified by the end of March. This was the first week of February. Now, although I have a decade and half years of experience working in network security, soc and vapt, also training in and around those areas, this was still a daunting target. I made it clear that a month and a half or so isn't a realistic target. But of course, that was disregarded by the management. I however began the preparation taking my own sweet time. I was in no particular hurry. I told myself come what may, I will give the exam when I am ready for it.
3 weeks in, and I am only 2 domains done. Clearly, end of March was a fantasy at this rate.
Meanwhile ISC2 were running an offer that allowed me to attempt once by the end of March and if required again by end of May. I couldn't let this go. I thought this was made for me. I could tell my employer that I attempted it by March end. And give myself a more realistic chance on the second attempt. Seemed like a win win situation.
Then with a week or so left. I am almost completing domain 3. I had given up hope of even contemplating clearing it on the fruit attempt. However, for some reason I made a mad rush to at least finish 6 domains before the first attempt. I obviously didn't have the time to study properly for them. I resorted to watching videos instead of reading the books. It wasn't like the domains were completely new to me. I knew some parts of it, and did not know some other parts. I actually covered 2 domains one night before the exam day. I did finish practice tests from the Sybex practice tests book. I finished 5 of the 8 domains and scored 70 to 80 percent in them. The other 3 domains, I did not have the time to.
3 to 4 days before the exam, I don't think I slept well. I was getting anxious thinking about it. I am not sure why, I suddenly felt like I didn't have the stamina to sit a second time for the exam. I felt like my experience alone should be enough to make up for any lack of reading time. A part of me also said that it was wishful thinking.
So it's exam time. Still no sleep. But I am at the exam center, almost feeling like a lamb to the slaughter. The exam starts. I pray. I never do that , but this time I did. Now I have read others finish the exam at 125 questions. I am already counting down to it. Not because I was confident I will clear, but because I would know that the torture would end anytime after it.
10 mins into the exam and I am 10 questions down. I wanted to be somewhere around the 40 to 45 questions per hour mark. The exam is sure as heck confusing and I can only be confident about 1 in 5 questions. An hour down and 50 questions down, I am not sure if I need to slow down a bit. Still unsure if I am doing well. I was a lot more confident about my answers while attempting the Sybex practice questions. There were a lot of best guesses in my responses. 2 hours and about a 100 down. I know I am nearing the finish. 120 odd done and I am almost uninterested because I had zero confidence in my responses. I was mentally preparing myself for a second attempt. It felt gut wrenching, because I wasn't confident about clearing the exam even after the second attempt. Such were the nature of the questions and the options. I couldn't possibly answer them with any confidence whatsoever. 125th question and the exam ends. I see no information on whether I passed or failed. I call the invigilator and he asks me to end the exam, collect the printout and belongings and leave. That felt so cold. It felt like he was too apologetic that he couldn't say it directly that I failed. I collect my printout.
It starts with a congratulations. I am not sure why it said congratulations. Maybe the fact that I haven't slept for a while is making me read things that aren't there. I felt too stupid to confirm with him what was written on the paper. So I step out and take a good long look at what is written. I read, re-read, look around and read it again. Finally I was convinced that I actually cleared. It felt like a huge burden was removed from me. I was so relieved.
Here are the resources, I used:
Domain 1: OSG. Read everything cover to cover.
Domain 2: OSG. Read everything cover to cover.
At this point, I completely hate the OSG.
Domain 3: AIO. Read everything cover to cover.
Domain 4: AIO. No time to read cover to cover. Just read the parts I felt I did not know well.
Domain 5: SNT. Only watched the videos. Cross-referenced with the CBK reference guide, because it had fewer pages to read.
Domain 6: This domain is primarily what I did for a living. Did not have enough time to read this domain. Banking on just my experience.
Domain 7: Watched FR Secure video from 2020.
Domain 8: Watched FR Secure video from 2020.
Sybex Practice Tests: Domains 1 to 5. No time for the other 3 domains. Scored 70 to 80 percent. No other question bank. No time for it.
What I realized most about the exam is that experience across the domains matters a lot. Also you need to trust yourself when responding to the question and avoid re-contemplating. Trust your first instincts. Chose either the OSG and the AIO, but not as the Bible, only as a guide.
Good luck to any future test takers.

2023.03.22 07:24 Doodlemombxtch Baby shower venue wants more than refundable deposit back

So I had a baby shower of about 70 people and paid a REFUNDABLE deposit of $500 plus cleaning fee of $75 (which covers 2 hours of sweeping and mopping-according to the owner) in addition to the actual cost of renting the indoor venue ($1000+). We did a gender reveal and had used those powder canon things to do our reveal. Due to the blue powder the colour got on a few things, floor (in between floor boards) chairs and a bit on the white painted columns. We had a limited amount of time to do cleaning so we wiped the chairs as much as we could. The blue powder is water soluble and removable with soap and water.
The owner of the venue is now saying that the time it is taking to wipe the blue powder is in excess of the deposit and she proposed that my family and I return to the venue to perform physical labour to help remove the blue colouring. I explained that I think keeping the deposit is the maximum and what is fair if she insists it is taking that long to tackle the blue powder. She showed me pictures that with mopping, the floors are clean (except there is some colouring between the floor boards) and stated the chairs are taking 10 mins each to wipe the blue colouring off. To me, I understand the excess cleaning is greater than the $75 cleaning fee. But I think asking for the entire $500 refundable deposit AND me to come in to do physical labour is too much especially since nothing was broken or actually damaged which she said she is appreciative for. In addition, I did ask if they had event insurance before booking the venue (to which she said “yes of course”) and also asked if I needed to get insurance (to which she said no, only if you are serving alcohol - which we weren’t).
Shouldn’t her insurance cover whatever additional labour she thinks she might need. Am I being unreasonable? We are not even fighting for the $500 deposit back.

2023.03.22 06:08 andejm93 So Let's Talk About Genetics

So Let's Talk About Genetics
Buckle up y'all, I'm about to get early 2010's Game Theory here.
As I continue to chip away at my damn illustrated timeline project, I started the icons for the human characters. Made a few mental notes, looked at current illustrations, so on and so forth. But then something caught my attention.
Ear shapes.
I realized as I drew my W. Afton icon and my H. Emily icon, that the new Henry illustration from the Encyclopedia has quite the distinct earlobes (as well as some handsome hazel-brown eyes).
So I decided to check the illustrations of William Afton from the graphic novels, and no such earlobes are on him. But that's the graphic novel for an alternate William Afton. It's not as though there's any in-game source that would show Afton has less distinct earlobes.

Or is there?
Now it isn't a replica of Afton, no way in hell. But if he wanted to recreate his children, the replicas of the Afton children would have almost the same ear shape given the limits of what material is used. So if we see three heads with nary a distinct earlobe, it can be surmised that the Aftons in general had connected or undefined earlobes. (Fun fact: the picture of Rick Astley used for Michael Afton doesn't have distinct earlobes either)
So the Aftons don't have earlobes and the Emily's do, big whoop. What does that do for the lore?

Could be the art style, but…
Yeah, nix that. Art style is a bit too loose. To me it looks like the start of some earlobe definition in prepubescence. But hey it's just the art style, it's not like there's another trait we could check—
Take a closer look at that snout!
Well those noses do not look similar at all. Elizabeth has that sharp nose and chin that's reminiscent of alter William Afton's same feature. Crying Child on the other hand has a steeper nose and rounder chin when you compare the two. But not just that, look at the insides of the ear. Crying Child has a distinct tragus drawn into the ear, while Elizabeth does not.
Do you want to know who else has a steep nose, round chin, and a distinct tragus drawn into their character portrait?

Cue the Jerry Springer bit
Okay, now we have to pump the brakes. Have I just put forth the theory that Crying Child is Henry Emily's son? Yes, yes I have. Do we ever know if Charlie had a twin in the games? Do we know what may have happened to the game's version of Sammy? Well now we might know.
I have one last bit to back all of this up. Let's talk about eye colors.
In art and renders, William Afton has always had Grey or Grey-Blue eyes, evil purple energy ignored for obvious reasons. Michael Afton has blue eyes, as we've seen in sprites from in game. Elizabeth Afton has green eyes. And if the Ballora = Mrs. Afton parallels are correct, then Mrs. Afton had some very icy blue or lavender peepers. So what does that all mean?
Well here's a blast from the past for many folks
If we compare the Afton family to general ideas of how eye color is inherited, it's a high improbability that Crying Child would have brown eyes as we see in his official art. Henry Emily has some Hazel or Light Brown eyes which makes it much more probable that his children would have brown eyes.
This also fits in with the book parallels of William Afton kidnapping one of the Emily children. Now why is Henry Emily's child the Youngest Afton? Any number of reasons, which is all the more reason to look into Sister Location and it's themes of family and children.
On top of all that, it would explain why it's Fredbear that speaks to Crying Child. Because Fredbear is Henry Emily's creation, and an extension of Henry Emily. (This also ties into my theory about the FNAF4 eon minigames and who talks to Crying Child through Fredbear that I posted here)
So the FNAF Encyclopedia is a bit of a hot mess. But, I feel that this is one of those weird set of details that fandom theorists should not ignore. There's a good chance, the Youngest Afton is an Emily.

2023.03.22 05:55 Western_Nectarine_14 26 [M4A] UK for anywhere, nerdy chef looking for the right one for me

Hi there, I'm Josh. A 26 year old chef living and working in England. I'm a tall guy (6'3/190cm) and I have short light brown hair, I wear glasses, my eyes are blue and I'm clean shaven. My style is mostly Hawaiian shirts and denim. So if you like vibrant colours, I'm your man.
My main passion is food and I love to cook new and exciting meals, I'm still eating the curry I made batches of last night. I'm working part time at a five star hotel but plan on finding a more permanent position. My hobbies vary, from cultivating chilli's and herbs to playing TTRPGs. I also paint Warhammer which can be seen as very nerdy but I like to be creative. I collect vinyl records and have a modest collection of a few hundred LP's (jazz and rock mostly), if you're unsure of an opening tell me about your favorite musician, I always love finding new music. I also enjoy reading, although I've not started on a new book since finishing my last.
I'm a passionate and caring person so someone who can match that energy would be preferable. I don't judge appearance and I strongly believe that attraction is based on a lot more than just looks. I'm perfectly content with slow laid back conversations as well as jumping straight into the big questions. If any of this sounds like you might be interested in me feel free to send me a message.

2023.03.22 05:24 tehgoobynoob Children's Fantasy about a stone/coal heart

Way back in elementary school (Around 2010-2013) , I remember reading a book that was roughly square in shape and with a generally blue cover. It was a fantasy book, and if I recall correctly focused on a family roughly similar to that of a victorian family? There was an object that was referred to as a "heart" or something similar, as well as the object having something to do with coal or a stone or something similar. Someone's father in the book obtains the object and becomes aggressive. Book also contains various references to things like pixies and magic, as I remember in my distant memory. Even foggier in my memory, I also remember something about pixies living in trees, and a retelling of the "Tortoise and the Hare" story within the book. Any help is appreciated!

2023.03.22 05:12 DanSnow5317 [Spoilers Extended] Imagery with the eye, a homage

At the beginning of a series, George RR Martin, pays homage to one of his earlier inspirations, Robert Frost, an American poet, born in 1874. Through imagery, Martin creates a figurative representation one of Frost’s popular poems called “Fire and Ice”.
The way that he does this is by metaphorically placing fire and ice in the eyes of the protagonist in the prologue of A Game of Thrones.
He places fire in the left eye by making it bleed and describing the blood as “red as fire”. And then he places a sapphire gem in front of the right eye describing it “like ice”.
A thought occurred to me when I consider the arrangement of the eyes or words describing them. They seem in perfect order relative to the title of the poem. And then my thoughts went further. The words are in reverse order in the title of Martin’s series. What does this say about the story? Does it somehow mean the story is the reverse of the poem? Or are we looking at the imagery from the wrong point of view? In the scene we’re seeing the eyes of Waymar, the main protagonist, from Will’s point of view. So what Will calls a “left eye” is actually Waymar’s right eye, and so forth. So instead of looking from the outside in; should we be looking from the inside out?
I also find it interesting that he describes blood like fire and titles a later book “Fire & Blood”; which is what the new HBO series is based on. Martin says there’s a part 2 for “Fire & Blood”. “Ice & ?” What?? Ice & sapphire? Ice & Eye? Ice & Gem. Will it be based on the family history of House Stark, since Fire and Blood was about House Targaryen?
Here’s Robert Frost’s poem,
Some say the world will end in fire.
Some say in ice.
From what I’ve tasted of desire
I hold with those that favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.
And here is the relative quote from the scene in the Prologue,
Will rose. Ser Waymar Royce stood over him. His fine clothes were a tatter, his face a ruin. A shard from his sword transfixed the blind white pupil of his left eye. The right eye was open. The pupil burned blue. It saw. (AGOT, Prologue)
And here’s the passage making the blood figurative fire,
The pale sword bit through the ringmail beneath his arm. The young lord cried out in pain. Blood welled between the rings. It steamed in the cold, and the droplets seemed red as fire where they touched the snow. (AGOT, Prologue)
And here’s the passage making the right eye like ice,
The Other halted. Will saw its eyes; blue, deeper and bluer than any human eyes, a blue that burned like ice. They fixed on the longsword trembling on high, watched the moonlight running cold along the metal. For a heartbeat he dared to hope.
So what do you think it all says about the story or the next book and the POV? Can you see the imagery and do you think it’s cool?

2023.03.22 05:06 lonelytexan822 35 [M4F] #Dallas/Forney - Endless affection

Hi,
I’m a 35, single, white, male that is completely starved for affection. I want to find that woman that will say hello with a big long hug and a kiss. I want tons of affection. Let’s spend an evening, day or weekend just cuddles up bingeing something. We can order in, sleep on the couch in each others arms. I don’t want a one time thing. I want to be able to meet regularly. Touch is my love language so you must be affectionate.
Isn’t this just another horny guy post you might ask. No. Do I want to meet for a quick bang? Also no. I want to chat, get to know you a bit, exchange photos to be sure there’s an attraction and meet in public to be sure we click. If that’s all good, let’s pick a time when we can cuddle and see what we feel comfortable with.
I’m 35, single, white, 6 ft, 240, brown hair, blue eyes, child free, don’t some or use drugs, and completely clean. I consider myself a shy, nerdy guy. I’d love to binge some older 90s-00 sci-fi show or do a movie marathon.
Please be over 30, completely clean, very affectionate, single, child free, drug and smoke free. I’m a sucker for red hair, freckles and full lips. None of those required just pluses in my book. I’m open on body type. I’m not expecting a model. Open to all races as well. In fact, non-white would be another plus.
Please be in the Dallas area. East, southeast preferred. Let’s chat and go from there. Thanks

2023.03.22 04:58 ashabash88 Trip Report - 3/8 to 3/19 - Osaka, Tokyo, Nagano with 8 people and some people with mobility issues

I lurked a bunch in this group before my trip so am hoping that a trip report will help others. We had a larger group and a couple people in the group are mobility challenged so some of my tidbits are unique to those aspects.
Some general notes:
-I got a pocket wifi from Ninja Wifi and it was great. I picked it up from Kansai and dropped off at Narita and it was so easy. I rushed through customs and had it before the others were all through. Others in the group were using their travel plans (T mobile and Verizon) and by the end of the trip most were just connecting to my wifi because it was much faster. It wasn't completely perfect and had a couple glitches here and there, but nothing that restarting the unit didn't fix. I did bring my own power bank and 100% needed it.
-We flew into Kansai and landed around 7pm. The entry at Kansai was a breeze. Everyone had done the Visit Japan ahead of time. We took screenshots but there is airport wifi in the customs area so we could have used that as well. We were through and had our bags within 30 minutes.
-It did take us a couple of days to get the hang of the various train lines, reading google maps, etc. A lot of the train station are huge as well so we learned to allow ALOT more time than google suggested for walking, especially since our group moved on the slower side. I tried to prep everyone to add Suica/Pasmo on their phones but myself and my mom were the only ones who actually did. Two people had physical IC cards from a previous trip but the other 4 kept putting it off and ended up not ever getting an IC card. It was a huge pain to stop and get tickets every time and they regretted it by the end of the trip.
-I had saved everything using Google's MyMap before we left but I ended up not using it very much. I chose it so I could color code locations but it didn't integrate very well into the app. I had to click on the saved maps every time I wanted to see what was around us, and you also can't add anything on the app. This could be user error as this was my first time using the MyMaps instead of a list but I'll probably go back to just creating a list within the app next time.
-We brought little goodies with us to hand out in lieu of tips and everyone loved them. Little things like mac nuts (we are from Hawaii) were received with much exclamation and appreciation.
-We were celebrating 3 different birthdays while we were there so we did reserve those dinners, since we had a larger party. We mostly split up for the rest of the meals. I can't speak to how easily we would have gotten in without reservations as we didn't try.
-Like everyone else, I HIGHLY recommend the luggage transfer services. It was so nice to take the train from city to city with just a backpack. We stayed in hotels in each place and the front desk handled it for us each time. I had a larger suitcase and it was about 2000 yen for each of the transfers (Osaka to Tokyo and Tokyo to Nagano). The only time we took our luggage was on the last train ride back to the airport and that's only because we forgot to ask how far in advance we would need to drop off and I was nervous about getting it in time for the flight. It probably would have been fine though. I also left my computer charger in Osaka and the hotel shipped it to me overnight. You usually pay when you drop off your bags but they let me pay that one upon pickup.
-Day 0 - Arrived in Osaka. We stayed at the Swissotel Nankai Osaka and it is located on top of Namba station. This hotel was recommended to us by a flight attendant who travels to Japan frequently and it was great for convenience being right at the train and metro station. It was a 10 minute walk to the Dotonbori area, which was about the maximum that my aunt could walk with her walker.
- Day 1 - day trip to Nara. I signed us up for a free tour with the YMCA EGG Club and it was fantastic. We did get a wheelchair from the Kintetsu station info office. They have exactly one available and it's first come, first serve but our guide said she has never seen anyone use it before. It was perfect for us as there was a lot of walking that day. A few things were not accessible but we could leave the wheelchair outside and my aunt could use her cane.
We split up after the tour to get lunch. Me and an auntie ended up at Maguro Koya for oo toro and it was the perfect first lunch in Japan. A true mom and pop but they did have an English menu and spoke great English. It was only a few blocks from the Kintetsu station as well. Auntie and I had a few cups of sake as well and after a lingering and delicious lunch we went back to the train station and back to Osaka.
After a nap, we took a couple of cabs to the Dotonbori area since we were running late for dinner. In hindsight, it was silly for all of us to cab since the able bodied could have walked in the same amount of time. We didn't know our way around yet, though, so we all just cabbed. Dinner was at the Kanidoraku crab restaurant on the Dotonbori. It was just OK, probably wouldn't go back as there are so many fantastic places in Osaka. After dinner we went to Donki for a little chaos. Uncle nearly had a panic attack at the crowds and needed to wait outside.
-Day 2 - day trip to Kyoto - Only half of us did this as the other half had been before. We wanted to see as much as possible in the day so we reserved a guided taxi tour with Doi Taxi. It was 40,000 yen for our group of 4 and up to 7 hours but there was no way we were going to get to see much if we had to walk and take busses. I had asked him to take us to one temple and requested few stairs and little walking. He started by driving us to Gion and we did get out and walk around a bit. I had requested lunch at Yudofu Sagano in Arashiyama and if you like tofu you must go there! We walked around the Tenryu-Ji temple and gardens after lunch, which was beautiful. The Arashiyama area was packed with people. I thought Gion would be the crowded area but it had nothing on Arashiyama. After the temple we headed back to the train station to go back to Osaka. We probably didn't get quite the bang for our buck that we could have but we were getting very tired.
-Day 3 - free day. We all did our own thing. Some went to Osaka Castle, some did the Aquarium, and some just wandered.
Day 4 - Osaka to Tokyo. The teenagers were not impressed that we woke them up to get to the train station early to get bentos. They would have preferred to sleep and grab Family Mart but the rest of us wanted to browse and pick out the perfect ekiben. The selection was not as large as I was expecting at Shin-Osaka but we did still get some goodies. The teenagers were not impressed by the Nozomi and slept but the rest of us enjoyed our bentos and scenery. We got some beers and highballs from the snack cart and noted that they only took cash or IC cards, not credit cards.
Our hotel in Tokyo was the Shibuya Excel Hotel Tokyu. It wasn't quite as nice as the Swissotel but had a prime location right on the Scramble and the rooms were decently sized for Japan. My uncle almost had a panic attack when we got out of the Shibuya Station and he saw all of the people but he got used to it. We booked this hotel pretty far in advance and got a great deal. When I checked closer to the trip (just for giggles) it was a lot more expensive.
Day 5 - Tsukiji Market in the morning for breakfast/lunch/shopping then TeamLab Planets. Nothing new to report about those activities but this day is when we started to have issues finding escalators and elevators in the train station. Several stations in Tokyo were under construction and there were a couple of times we couldn't find any accessible options. Luckily, our mobility challenged people aren't totally immobile and could take the stairs but it was very tiring for them. I did appreciate that most of the subways and trains (and busses) have screens that show the stops and the location of escalators and elevators but they weren't always accurate if there was construction.
I really wanted to go to the Shibuya Yokocho for dinner and everyone in the group liked that idea, even the teens. I didn't think there was any chance we would all be able to eat together but we went early just in case. To my surprise we did find one place that could seat exactly 8 (if we crammed, which we did) and it was wonderful. I have no idea what it is called since most of the signs outside are in Japanese but the ownechef/bartender is named Hiro. We had some of my favorite bites of the whole trip there including a uni miso omelet and blue cheese baked mochi. The "menu" was just slips of paper on the wall, all in Japanese, but it was fun to try and use Google Translate and pick random things based on the translation. The mochi, for example, translated as "blue rice". A few of the adults bar hopped after dinner and we had a great time at each place, but Hiro's was my favorite.
Day 6 + 7 - Random Tokyo wandering and nothing interesting or crazy to report. Uncle went to Golden Gai by himself and reported that he liked the Shibuya Yokocho better. He thought Golden Gai seemed like a larger, more touristy version.
We did go to Tokyo Skytree one of these days and for the love, make a reservation if you want to go there. They do let you buy tickets same day but the line was horrendous and we were regretting our lack of planning as we watched the people with reservations walk right up.
Day 8 - Tokyo to Nagano - Our group split at this point. Half started in Shibu Onsen for some relaxation and half went to Lotte Arai resort for some skiing. I was part of the Shibu group so I'll report mainly on that. We chose Shibu because it was close to the snow monkey park and for the onsen experience. Shibu has 9 "public" onsen that only locals and people staying in a ryokan in Shibu get a key for. Getting there was very easy. The shinkansen from Tokyo to Nagano took 1.5 hours and then the Dentetsu line to Yudanaka was about an hour. Our hotel picked us up at the train station.
Shibu was one of the highlights of the trip and it was especially relaxing after Tokyo. We stayed at the Shibu Hotel, which is a ryokan and family run for over 100 years. It was a bit of a splurge but we chose to include the kaiseki dinner and breakfast. The service was incredible. There are two brothers that are basically shuttling people around all day, to and from the train station and to and from the snow monkey park, and running the hotel. One of the wives and the mother run the front desk. The ryokan also has several public and private onsen for guests. It seemed like a lot of the ryokan in town were similar but as I've only stayed at Shibu Hotel I can only speak for them. Also important to note, they have a few rooms with Western style beds and an elevator, which is the main reason we stayed there. Most of the ryokan only offer Japanese style rooms, which I would have been fine with by myself but did not work for the group.
Shibu was very accessible, which I was not expecting. The town is tiny and the whole thing can be walked easily. Some of the little alleys weren't walker friendly but the main streets were tiled (I think), very smooth and wide enough for the walker. Not all of the onsen were accessible but most had a little step/s or railing so we could all participate. It was some family bonding for sure LOL
Day 9 - Snow Monkeys! We took the hotel shuttle to the park entrance and they even had snow boots for us, as the trail gets icy or muddy depending on the season. It was cold but not icy for us but we still appreciated the boots as it was a bit muddy in spots. It took us about 20 minutes to walk each way but I can see it taking much longer if there's snow or ice. There were so many monkeys and they were very unconcerned with people. No shit throwing or bag stealing was seen, unlike my previous monkey experience in Thailand. You could do this as a day trip from Nagano or even Tokyo very easily. This was not accessible as there are stairs at the beginning and end of the trip and auntie didn't want to try and walk a mile so she stayed at the hotel and enjoyed coffee in the lobby and browsing some of their homemade goodies (green onion miso, yum!).
We then took the local train back to Nagano and checked in to the Metropolitan Hotel, again right at the train station (have you sensed our preference yet). Lunch was at Misoya for my favorite ramen of the trip. I love me some miso. We saw the main temple in Nagano and visited the sake brewery close by.
Day 10 - Last full day and it was raining and cold. We didn't do a whole lot this day because of the rain but did some last minute shopping. At the Tokyu department store we found the best basement grocery with a bunch of food stalls so we grabbed a bunch of different foods and a bottle of local sake for lunch in the room.
Day 11 - Lunch at Misoya again before catching the Shinkansen back to Tokyo Station and then the Narita Express to the airport. We were pretty disappointed in the food and shopping options at Terminal 2, unfortunately. We left Nagano after lunch at 1:30 so had allowed extra time at the airport for dinner and some duty free shopping but nothing was open by the time we got through security at 6pm. We should have had dinner outside of security but we didn't realize nothing would be open. There was one little conbini that has some tuna musubi and egg salad sandwiches so that was dinner. We were more sad that the duty free was closed as we had been planning on buying some of our whisky and sake allotment there. We didn't come home empty handed but just less than we had planned.
Whew, that took awhile to write. I hope someone, somewhere finds any part of this helpful!

2023.03.22 04:34 DanSnow5317 [Spoilers, a Extended] Imagery with the eyes, a homage

2023.03.22 04:24 zeegz Bought a CPO 2021 GTI S over leasing an Integra 6spd. Thoughts?

Due to some strange circumstances, I recently had to buy a new car in within a week. Ended up going for a used 2021 GTI S with 20k~ miles, with warranty until 2027 (CPO + last owner bought extended). For reference, I came from a B7 A4 (FWD) with a Stage 1 tune + sway bars that I drove since new. (The Audi multitronic CVT is actually one of the best CVTs I’ve driven and has never given me an issue!)
I originally went into the Acura dealer, and by luck, they had a fully loaded A-Spec, 6 spd manual, Integra. The gizmos were very nice especially coming from a 17yo base Audi. I think the out-the-door price was 45k, or 36 month lease at $600 with $2000 down. The dealer was nice enough to let me test drive the car and run errands with it for a couple hours.
Things I liked about the Integra:
Things I did not like about the Integra
I went over to my VW dealership that had a manual Mk8 GTI in stock. Without driving, I immediately hated the plastic bezels and lack of buttons. The shifter felt cheap (I know this is replaceable but still) and the orange peel effect on the bezels were awful. I thought I was going walk out but they had a DSG Mk7.5 on the lot (which I obviously ended up buying)
Things I liked about the GTI (/compared to the teggy)
Things I don't like about the GTI (more like nitpicks)

I paid 30k all in for the GTI. Obviously it's basically paying for brand new GTI which might throw some people off, but the Mk7 interior and looks are superior to the Mk8 in my book. The car is also mint and still had the new car smell. The warranty till 2027 was a big factor as well. As a bonus, I got all new tires (stock Pirelli P7 AS), the all season rubber mats (I was gonna buy them anyways) the boot tray cover, and those weird velcro blocks.
Obviously, I made my choice and I'm pretty sure I chose the better car. I’m just curious what others think.
Also if anyone knows how to permanently delete the unknown primary user pop-up that would be great lol

2023.03.22 04:00 WeakUse1326 Looking for a book that deals with strange UFO type incidents. Probably from the 50s-70s.

When I was like 7-10 yrs old(around 1982-85), I have a memory of finding a book in my couch. I think it was a library book, but I have no memory of checking it out, and am not sure if it was like stuck in the couch from my dad, or if it was a used couch or something. I def did check out books about UFOs from the library when I was that age, so it would have been something I would have had, but really none of this relevant for anyone to find this book for me.
So there is only one vivid memory I have of the book, that might help someone else to remember this book. In the very front of it, there was like a preface or like an introduction chapter. The author described a story about a family that went out of town for some reason. When they returned, they found that their house was totally missing. I remember one part of the story the most, hoe the only thing that was left was like some shingles that were neatly stacked up on the foundation. No one living nearby had seen anything. I don't remember reading the rest of the book, and I might be getting 2 sep books mixed up, but I think the other chapters dealt with with other types of UFOs, and the chapters were like titled with the diff acronyms of dif types of UFOs. For example if it was something underwater, the chapter would be like UUO( unidentified underwater objects).
The book was plain with just a light blue cover. I really have no idea what the title is.

Thanks for the help.

2023.03.22 03:56 Squigglyelf Teen/kid (?) book (series?) that involve kids doing drugs/falling in with a bad crowd/messing up their life, possibly dying

There were some books I read when I was in high school (graduated in 2010, so from before then), I got them from the library at school. I think they may have all been connected in a series or something but I'm not sure. The one I remember the most was about a kid who played hockey, and I think he got into drugs with his friends. There may have been a camotorcycle accident, and someone died. They weren't very big books, they were small, quick reads. It may have been a Canadian thing, because Hockey, and because I am in Canada.
The cover of this book was a close up shot of a hockey skate. There may have been blood on the blade, and possibly a bag of pills beside it.

Not Lurlene McDaniel, but I was reading those books around the same time, too. Not sure what was wrong with me as a kid.

Edit: I said high school, but it may have even been in elementary/middle school now that I'm thinking about it.

2023.03.22 03:52 Jesus_Squad12 [TOMT][BOOK] Fantasy book containing dragons and the main characters time travel with some sort of wizard

So, I only remember bits and pieces of a book I read a long time ago, but hopefully it'll still help. I really want to read it again, but i dont remember the title of the book. I'll try my best to explain it. Near the beginning of the book, a girl found 2 baby dragons in a pit. 1 of them was already dead, but the other one was still alive. She raised it, and I think she named it Blue. And I know the girl tried returning it to the mother, but the mother tried to kill the baby dragon. I don't remember much after that. All I remember is later in the book, the girl was stabbed in the stomach and the dragon attacked the person who harmed the girl. The rest I remember is the girl, the dragon, I think someone else, and a wizard time traveled into the future. It was our time, so the army was attacking them, but the wizard had a spell around them, protecting them. Then a little bit later, the wizard sacrificed himself so that the girl and dragon could get back to their time. That's all I remember. I'm not sure if it's a standalone book or if it's a series. Hopefully this helps and I can finally stop wondering about it!

2023.03.22 03:48 Jesus_Squad12 Dragon book w/ timetraveling
