2023.04.01 13:11 Mah725 [need advice] what statistical test should I use?

hey. I'm currently working on a study that analyzes the effectiveness of my self-made product on 4 different groups. these groups are completely independent of each other, and the product was tested 3 times for each group. basically, I have 12 trials in total. each trial was rated from 1-5 by 20 respondents, 1 being extremely ineffective and 5 being extremely effective. with those information, I need a statistical test to know which group my product is most effective on.
I may resort to just computing for the mean of all the ratings for each trial then just assign it to a 5-point scale, (ex. mean is 4.80 so it will fall under the highest point of the scale, concluding it is effective) but I feel like it's too simple/unreliable.
I've literally tried various tests but I always end up violating certain assumptions for those tests, or I find them inappropriate for my data analysis. So far, here are the tests I've done and the problems I've encountered:
  1. one-way ANOVA: I failed the homogeneity test since the variances are very different
  2. Welch and Brown-Forsythe test: I can't run the test because I have 2 groups with their variances exactly equal to 0.
My option is to use the Kruskal-Wallis test but I cannot interpret the post-hoc analysis (I used Pairwise Comparison in SPSS). Also, I believe the results are not what I am looking for.
Again, I need a test to statistically verify my results and identify which groups my product is effective on. Please help!

(alt account for privacy reasons) Hey everyone! I recently moved here and I'm hoping to make some friends. I'll include some info about myself below, shoot me a comment/message if you think we'd connect, or maybe other suggestions for places/events someone like myself might be able to meet people!!!
I'm in my early 20s and female as the title says. I work in healthcare and I've been working my ass off lately so I haven't really had a chance to go out and try to meet people, but I'm going to try to cut back on the overtime in the next month or two. I will be going to CSN part time starting this summer but I don't think I'll take any in person classes until the fall. I would also love to start volunteering somewhere local but I'm waiting to get my work and school schedule more locked down before committing to anything.
I love going to concerts, I haven't been to any since moving here but I have one or two coming up this month. I also like festivals. I like traveling, from day trips to nearby areas to solo trips across the country. My more day to day hobbies include cooking, trying new restaurants, playing the Sims, reading (I'm LOVING the libraries here!!!!), making playlists, makeup. My guilty pleasure is all types of stupid pop culture stuff.
Stuff I would do back home with my friends for fun include: go on walks/hikes, eat at local restaurants, wander around antique or thrift stores, art museums/exhibits/First Fridays, go to shows for local bands, hang out at the bars (I generally prefer quieter, not crowded bars), or just hang out at home and watch Youtube videos together while eating snacks haha.

Hi everyone, i'm currently seasonal right now but turning into a blue badge next week(yay) but I just have a concern/question and needed some advice(real ones please 😊).
I have a toddler who is currently in my home country (outside USA) who went for a vacation to spend time with my family over there which I brought him myself last November(before i start amazon) but he needs to come back by june. I have a confirmed booking ticket to go home on my May to pick him up and he will be coming back with me by June. It's a 3 week length so it would be wortb it for it cost too much and I want to spend time with my family after not seeing them for 4 years so I am planning to request a PLOA but I am not sure if DLS will approved or what. What do you guys think? Or what would be my other option? I would love to stay here and work for $$$ but at the same there is no way that he could come back on his own since he's a toddler and no one in my family can come here in the US to bring him due to visa matters for they need to obtain one but it takes couple of months to a year for a process.

The amount of cringe when someone says “it will be released when it’s ready” is next level. If you think you’re providing any actual value with a comment like that then you’re either a clown or silly child.
To add, seeing people openly suck off CIG when they comment on Reddit is the 2nd most cringe thing I see. These dudes leave messages like “thanks for everything even though I can’t log in, let me know if you need a community manager” is so effing cringe.
It’s been a month since they released 3.18. This was after a 4 month delay. This company is proving very incompetent. The 55 min lecture about AI during sc live is a smoke screen.
Deploying .2 in PTU before .1 is published to live is probably one of the dumbest things I’ve ever seen a game dev do. If you work in software development and understand AGILE you’ll agree 100% with this. If your an apologist or don’t understand real software dev then you won’t.
A reckoning is coming for this game. And soon backers will realize how they spent so long and got so little.
10 years is long enough. I signed up for a game. Not a 20 year charade.

2023.04.01 13:09 greenqween95 Will my 4 week old baby go back to breastfed after formula/bottle?

My son is currently 15 days old. We had a rocky start, both of us had sepsis that kept us in hospital for the first 7 days of his life. I wanted to exclusively breastfeed, however my little man was struggling to latch for more than a couple of minutes in hospital and would scream and push my breast away. He never seemed satisfied and I was worried that he needed nourishment with his infection and gave him formula too, still offering the breast beforehand.
Turns out he has a moderate tongue tie that will need to be corrected for breastfeeding to work. We have this appointment on 12th April, the earliest available. In between leaving hospital and now, my baby developed oral thrush from the antibiotics and I didn't want to put him to the breast for fear of us keep reinfecting each other. So I'm pumping but only getting an oz each time. Honestly I hate pumping, if I stick to the times I'm meant to pump to keep my supply I'm getting literally no sleep whatsoever. And my supply never seems to get going, probably because I'm not breastfeeding at the same time. He's on medication and his thrush is almost gone now, so I've tried the breast again a few times, and it's like he's forgotten how to latch at all, or perhaps he just wants the ease of a bottle.
He loves his bottle and eats very well on formula. I'm ready to throw in the towel on breastfeeding, especially if it's unlikely after 4 weeks once his tie is cut he won't take to the breast again, but I feel so guilty. I had a really traumatic delivery followed by the hospital stay, I just wish things had turned out differently and if it had been another way I might have the physical and emotional strength to persevere.
If anyone has any experience with switching baby back to breast, I'd appreciate the insight. I think I'm definitely done with pumping though, it's too much time and energy for too little reward right now.

Current base weight: 7.5kg
Given this is winter and my partner is joining I am optimising more for safety and comfort over going as light as possible. The last time I did the Overland was a few years ago in late March or April and it snowed most days, but my total pack weight was still only around 7kg including food. I have done 3-4 day fastpacks using an 18L running bag before, and this isn't going to be one of them.
Location/temp range/specific trip description:
Overland Track, TAS (82km)
July 24th (leave transport) - 28th (arrive Cynthia Bay)
Average min temperature: 2c, but given it is winter will plan for temps to hit -5c to -8c
Average max temperature: 9c

Most relationships dull over time as they mature and they turn more into a friendship than a relationship, this is where most people question and doubt because they think love is a constant when its not! (Will be worst for people with ocd)
  1. •we wouldnt be so concerned or worried if we didnt care/love our partners
If we didnt love or care for our partners we wouldnt give it a second thought and we would leave.
  1. •not having butterflies doesnt mean we arent in love!
Its actually known that not having butterflies can signify a healthy relationship!
  1. • not wanting to have sex doesnt mean anything
Not wanting to have sex doesn't necessarily mean we aren't attracted to our partners! It could simply mean one of a few thing
• Its part of our sexuality • mental heath ie depression or anxiety! • our minds are drained
  1. • even if the feelings are gone and you dont want to leave, you dont have to!
Hard work and effort can and will bring feelings back if you think your relationship is worth it! Even if your feelings dont come back you still dont have to leave if you dont want to!

Sup my fellow ents, I need some advice. I'm 42, smoked heavily since I was 18. When I was 40 I decided to quit. Had assumed many of my problems were caused by weed. Turns out they weren't. I'm naturally a confidant guy, in reasonable shape now, tall, no issues with work or the opposite sex. I smoked mainly high-grade skunk with a little tobacco. 3-4 spliffs per day. Anyway, turns out I'm not a nice person without the herb, had bad a year of over eating, drinking and became unhealthy.
Fast forward to the present day, I smoke more or less every day and have a tolly break of 2 weeks at the end of the month. This is my cycle now, it keeps me sharp, saves me money and proves to myself I can stop / start when I want.
To get to the point - When I started smoking again I noticed how much weed was triggering my anxiety. It's hard to explain, but when I smoke it feels like there is a hole in my stomach. I have extreme self doubt, can't relax, second guess myself and hide away from the world. You know how it goes.
My question is, what has changed in me? I have been doing research into the long term use, it's impact on my dopomine, serotonin and Testosterone (which is low) I feel like my body is lacking something, I never used to feel this way, or if I did I had nothing to compare it to while high all the time. I love smoking, it's part of me, it's my only real vice and I'm not trying to quit or replace it with something else. I want to get some balance.
Have any of you felt this way? did you take supplements or make any life style choices that helped prevent these horrible feelings?
I have a fare about of baggage, ex-wife, estranged adult children (don't ask the mother was very bitter when we split 7 years ago) but I'm a happy go lucky guy, live and let live type of dude.
Any advice is welcome and appreciated.

My husband works till 3am at a club. I leave our kids sleeping (teenagers and a 6yr old) to pick him up, otherwise it's a 1.5 hour walk home. He works 4 days a week and only stays late 1 night out of the 4. I wake up at 2:40am on the days he works. He forewarned me that he might be getting out later than usual on a day he doesn't typically stay late and said I should stay home until he texts me to come get him. I text him at 3am asking if he had to stay or should I head out. I didnt hear anything back so at 3:10 I headed out. Got to his job by 3:25 and saw him across the street with the guys from work smoking weed. He starts walking down the street and then texts me to meet him up! He didnt realize I was driving up behind him. I was livid! As tired as I be, i wake up at 2:40am to make sure he gets home safe and he has me waiting for his text while I'm thinking hes working, hes chillin, smoking with the guys! Then when I finally tell him why I'm mad, he gets mad at ME and says he'll just walk from now on! Like bro, why lie? I might not like the fact that you're out there chillin after 3am with the club crowd around but at least I know what's really going on instead of waiting like a dumb ass for your text thinking poor baby has to work late! Am I wrong???

Hi! My nickname is Kakadak and I'm starting my path towards creating computer games. I decided to start by making a clicker that is a clicker and not a "simulator of generating points per second". My new baby is called Potion Clicker. It's not some graphical miracle, but I try to add things to it that will make the gameplay more interesting. The principle is simple: You click on the potion icon and you get points for it, which you can use to buy upgrades such as more points per click and points per second. Why did I add points per second if, as I mentioned before, I want to create a CLICKER? Well, point generators are only a small help in getting them. They are expensive and the difficulty of purchasing them increases with the number of purchases. Another element of the game is research that unlocks different things for us, such as books, but more about them later. You can only research one thing at a time. We get research points for clicking on the previously mentioned icon. I also made these books. To create them, we need workers who will collect the leather and paper that are required to create it. Books give us bonuses such as multiplier points per second x3 or x2 and +points per second or click. The game is still under construction and you won't find it anywhere and I will be adding new stuff as time goes by. At the moment the latest version is v0.4.1. Now I'm working on adding levels and new stuff for it. So please follow my work! The game is built using the Unity engine and free assets from the Unity Assets Store.

▪︎According to me, this is the worst rivalry ever shown in the whole of the Cobra Kai series.
▪︎The below is in my arrogant opinion.
▪︎Miguel vs. Robby is the worst rivalry because it's a one-sided rivalry that started when Miguel pushed Robby at the beach and ended with Miguel making the last move on him. It's started by Miguel, and he only ends it on his terms.
▪︎He has a score of 3-0 against his rival and has never lost to him. Yes, the pool fight isn't considered given that there was no clear winner.
▪︎1) The writer shows at the 1st AVT that Miguel wins the tournament even though he played dirty. Johnny recognised it when he talked to Robby in 2×01—that I don't ask him to play dirty, or when he gave both Miguel and Hawk punishment for the same.
▪︎Larusso too had said that he didn't fight with honour. But what about this? After the school incident, they all forgot that Miguel made dirty moves at the AVT. Johnny, Daniel, and others, all of them. Johnny, while talking about how Hawk injured Robby's arm in 5×08, didn't mention anything about Miguel's act at all. Hence, all of them, including the writers, now believe that it was a fair win for Miguel. Hence, 1 point.
▪︎2) About the school incident, though Miguel got kicked off the balcony, it was only after he showed mercy to Robby and didn't break his arm that he decided to back off. He lowers his guard and can't defend himself from Robby's attacks once he stops fighting. The writers, if they wanted, could write that one of them falls when they both fight with their full potential and one gets knocked off by the other. Rage and uncontrolled anger can be there, but that will not bring massive sympathy to Miguel's side and will not let the fact get forgotten that he was the one who started their fight. Hence, they decided to do the same as shown in the end, and it really worked for Miguel to get all the sympathy on his side.
▪︎Again, Miguel, though breaking his back, won according to the majority of fans and the moral victory regardless of anything. Hence, 2 points. This led to Robby getting extreme hatred due to his grave mistake, which led to Miguel's coma and paralysis.
▪︎In 4×04, they made Robby remind him of the school incident. Again, they made Robby's comment in 5×05; you wanted to make him get his ass kicked.
▪︎These 2 are the bad dialogues according to me because in the last fight of them, Robby gets his ass kicked opposite of what he was made to say. ▪︎Also in the dialogue, Demetri says that no one has beaten Miguel. Through this, the writers wanted to make the point that Miguel is invincible, which they again proved in the last dojo fight, where he was kicking everyone's asses without getting hit even once.
▪︎The writers had made him the new-age Karate Kid, but his main rivalry seems to be very off. The first AVT was the only time Robby really gave him a run. Apart from that, Miguel literally dominated the other 2 fights.
▪︎3) In the apartment fight, both of them got 3-3 points against each other before, at last, Miguel dominated the fight and put Robby into submission. Hence, 3 points. The flashbacks really made it seem like Robby was the only aggressor in the school fight while Miguel was the victim, since his point of view was shown the most in their so-called rivalry. Hence, it's very skewed in his favour.
▪︎Now talk of other rivalries: Demetri had clearly beaten Hawk once, and Tory, though she didn't win against Sam (the AVT was not her true win), was successful in getting her trauma and PTSD. Johnny and Daniel's rivalry the writers didn't have shown who is better since their only fight against each other ended in a draw.
▪︎Then come Miguel and Robby, where it's just the former using the latter as a punching bag.
▪︎In contrast, neither Robby had a clear win against the New Karate Kid nor had he given him any trauma at all.
▪︎Robby is not at Miguel's level; how can he be when he's lost to him three times and doesn't have a clear win against him? Miguel doesn't clearly lose to him even once. How can they be on the same level?
▪︎Most of the fandom will not go into the details of what most of you will say: that they are on the same level. The only visible parameter for determining who is the better fighter is seeing their fighting records against each other, in which Miguel is 3-0.
▪︎Hence, I think their rivalry was the most one-sided, and that's why I personally don't like it.
