I got into this hobby with Catan like most people. Even though one can strategically plan to mitigate the luck factor, I wasn't ready to play Catan more.
I started exploring & buying more games. I like games with less to no luck involved. People who played with me wanted good player interaction and didn't like long, heavy strategy games.
When I was trying to discover new games to play, I saw myself googling the luck, player interaction and several other things before making a decision and surprised to see there was no website that rates games on this key factors.
I started working on it 3 weeks back. Now, it's ready to be shared with others 😅. I want it to be a community-driven website like BGG. For now, the site has the top 1000 games from BGG.

 | i have bought on aliexpress MANY times. Well like 2 months ago i bought something for 200 like i have in past but ive never spent that much on one item before. Well paypal flagged it as suspicious. Bc they did that aliexpress froze my item. I validated the charge w pay pal and they closed the case. Well aliexpress never would unfreeze my item to be shipped. I did customer service to no avail. Contacted the seller and the seller told me to cancel order and reorder. Well once its frozen you cant. Finally I ended up having to get my money back. And I did. 2 wks after that they unfroze that item and canceled it/closed it. But since then i'm not able to purchase anything on ali. My account was not banned etc but it will not accept any payment method i use & denies the payment appeals. I have made other accounts/emails and it still will not work. It’s about the runaway problem we have in America. I (35f) can’t help but feel there is something fundamentally wrong with me, since adulthood I have always lived pay check to pay check and can’t seem to break the cycle despite my salary increasing 50% over the past year. Although this seems a lot on paper in reality I was underpaid for a longtime and only just above minimum wage. My current salary is by no means big bucks but it doesn’t feel like we are walking the tightrope anymore. There just always seems to be something unplanned present itself and every month I am waiting for payday. I have had a lot of car troubles recently. For the last couple of months, my car had randomly been shutting off while I was driving. I eventually stopped driving it & was lucky enough to get rides to work every day (I’m a teacher & I live about a 4 min. drive from my job). I got my car fixed about a week ago and I’m still in the mindset of not being able to go anywhere because of my car. My girlfriend and I have been watching the show “Shameless” on Netflix this year, which led to a discussion last night.
For those of you that are unfamiliar, the show revolves around the Gallagher family (a poor family from South Side Chicago) with professional alcoholic and neglectful father Frank, technically at the head of it. The premise of each episode is the family dealing with their general lack of funds and attempting to help out a family member who has fucked up on some colossal way.
The debate started when one of the family members mentioned never being able to “break the cycle” of poverty they are in. I mentioned that I believed that the family was in the situation they are in due to the choices they’ve made largely. My girlfriend disagreed and said they wouldn’t be making those mistakes if they had more stability, and “normal families” make poor choices all the time and face fewer consequences because they have the resources to deal with them. At that point it just became a chicken-and-egg debate about whether acquiring the level of resources that allow you to deal with poor decisions shows some responsibility in itself (I generally believe so, outside of some exceptions), as well as whether people with middle class lives tend to make riskier choices than those with worse situations.
In my view, outside of health circumstances and surprise tragedies, people in poverty in America are there because they take riskier decisions, and just don’t function as well as others. This does lead to a vicious cycle, but that can be overcome through hard work and making good choices like the countless immigrant families who come here and succeed have shown.
I honestly believe in strong safety nets because I have little faith in a large chunk of the population to provide for themselves without government assistance. Giving them a handout is a better alternative to letting them wallow in poverty.

I enjoy travel and have been to thirteen different countries so far. Lately I mostly travel to different cities that are close by! I love taking public transport and listening to music during it - then again, I pretty much always listen to music. Exploring is another great thing and my biggest passion is probably photography (especially when combining all these things).
I read a lot and enjoy writing, too, as well as editing photos I take. I am a bit of a creative person and am also very much into self-improvement! I am learning French, cook and bake and like to cycle a lot. There are lots of other topics that interest me, like urban planning, technology, history, horror, politics and... Just a whole lot more. I also have a fable for fancy lighting and radios!
So... If any of that sounds interesting to you, why not reach out? We might have a pleasant conversation or might even become friends! Well, I'm a 4 months in, and the results are conclusive.
Bartesian is going in the bin, and Black & Decker's BEV gets to sit on the bar. I'm not even going to gift my old Bart to friends or family. I would feel embarrassed to have them experience the issues I did.
From Day 1, Bartesian would spray certain cocktails out the front of the pod holder. Worst was the Hurricane. It made such a mess that I started peeling the foil off the pods and mixing it in the glass. Many pods would still have liquid in them after mixing, the water container made the water go slimy and funky, the upside-down liquor bottles dribbled, spilled and sometimes leaked.
We bought a Bart for the in-laws, and now I wish I hadn't. Same thing, spraying out the front, overflowing pod holder, leaving pods half-full of liquid when finished, etc etc...we all know the shortcomings.
Since receiving the BEV, I have been putting it through its paces - and it has performed flawlessly. ALL of my issues with the Bart were apparently addressed by B&D and this is how a cocktail machine should work. I made 2 Hurricanes yesterday, and wow...they were perfect, and the pods came out of the machine bone dry.
I think the main reason is that BEV has a huge puncture needle, and it goes deeper into the pod. This could easily be solved by Bartesian by offering a re-engineered pod holder with the improvements noted above. I'm sure people would pay 10-15 bucks to solve this problem.
But it's too late for me, I'm now a BEV man all the way.

Exploring is another great thing and my biggest passion is probably photography (especially when combining all these things).
I read a lot and enjoy writing, too, as well as editing photos I take. I am a bit of a creative person and am also very much into self-improvement! I am learning French, cook and bake and like to cycle a lot. There are lots of other topics that interest me, like urban planning, technology, history, horror, politics and... Just a whole lot more. I also have a fable for fancy lighting and radios!
