2023.06.10 00:19 coffeeismyelixir PSA: the first poop

I gave birth to my LO two days ago and just had an experience that I was not forewarned about and want to spare you ladies this pain in the future.
The first poop after delivery is AWFUL. I mean I literally was wishing I was pushing the baby out again instead because it was so much easier. For reference, I had a vaginal delivery with an epidural (so if you don’t get an epidural I don’t know if this still holds true). At some point my body took over and was pushing this other crap baby I didn’t know I was going to have out
Nothing works down there since your pelvic floor is in recovery, all your pushing muscles are sore and the poop is probably bigger than normal (hence calling it a poop baby), adding insult to injury.
At the hospital I was taking MiraLax and was on fiber for regularity before delivery but I wish I’d eaten a five pound bag of sugar free gummy bears instead to get the runs and spare myself the pain. For the record I cried on the toilet after and took a shower to cleanse myself from the experience.
Tl;dr: I wish I had diarrhea for my first postpartum poop and you might want to start investing in ways to not deliver a colon baby

2023.06.10 00:19 TraderJoe72 I'm so terrified of what the future holds

Hi, I (M19) am in constant fear and it's just getting worse. Let me explain why. I can't for the life of me hold down a job. I always think I can then I stop going because my body just won't let me. For reference, I ALWAYS struggled with school, I would almost never get up and got into constant fight with my mom over it. My mom eventually listened to me about home school half way thru 10th grade. It. was. AMAZING!!! I was able to do it everyday and actually graduate high school. So, by this logic I should work a remote job right? Well even after tons and tons of searching and applications no one will accept me. I know this may be all over the place but I can't stop thinking and fearing for what my future holds. I need to be able to at least support myself and get my own place before my girlfriend can come live with me. At the moment I live with my granna with no bills so I can save money but I can feel her losing her patience with me. I... need help. Pls, if you know anything about my situation or can provied just a shoulder to cry on it would mean a lot. Again sorry if it's all over the place, I'm in pure panic mode and on the verge of crying my eyes out.

2023.06.10 00:10 kcobra12 On Slaying Rezakiris

Rezakiris are some of the deadliest Behemoths in the Shattered Isles. Fittingly, some of the best (and best looking) gear in the game comes from them. However, most Slayers will find them tough at first, so here’s some tips I’ve learned while gathering materials to make the Godhand and the Prismatic Grace.
Rezakiri Attacks.
First up, the attacks. They’re mostly projectile based, and as such, players should pack the Artificer Omnicell for the shield. The Skarn’s Defiance lantern is also helpful for tanking the hits, and trust me, you WILL take some. None of these attacks are the official names, but they make sense anyway. The attacks listed below are brief descriptions of the attack, with how much relative damage they deal and how difficult it is to dodge them listed below the name, along with how often they occur. The values are applied before factoring in Omnicells and lanterns.
Attack 1: Starfly Barrage
Damage: 6/10
Dodge Difficulty: 6/10
Frequency: 7/10
This attack is signified when the Rezakiri moves away from you and hovers just above the ground while exposing its chest. It follows by creating dozens of the little Valomyr orb things, a.k.a. Starflies, and launching them at you. The difficulty comes when you dodge into another one by accident. The easiest way to counter this is by using the Omnicell directly in front of you to block the projectiles. The Rezakiri then follows this by hovering close to the ground for a short time, letting you get plenty of hits in. Experienced Slayers will want to save the Omnicell to apply it to their desired part for the 15% damage bonus.
Attack 2: Prismatic Blender
Damage: 6/10
Dodge Difficulty: 3/10
Frequency: 8/10
This attack is telegraphed by the Rezakiri flying up into the air and a “charging up” noise. The Behemoth then fires four beams of light straight at the ground that rapidly revolve and expand. The easiest way to dodge it, I’ve found, is to stand slightly off to the side of where the Rezakiri’s main body was when it took off, then dodging into the cage of light it makes when it widens slightly. The creature follows up by screaming and slamming into the ground when it finishes, catching unaware Slayers off guard. This is trivial to dodge, as long as you begin your dodge about 75% of the way through its scream. Be warned, the Artificer shield WILL NOT block the beams. It says it should, but in my personal experience, it does not.
Attack 3: Slicing Strafe
Damage: 7/10
Dodge Difficulty: 5/10
Frequency: 6/10
The Rezakiri pulls back before diving low and slashing twice with its clawed forelimbs. This is easy to dodge, but the tail’s hitbox becomes active when it finishes the charge, so go off to the side instead of directly through it.
Attack 4: Tail Swipe
Damage: 7/10
Dodge Difficulty: 5/10
Frequency: 5/10
The Rezakiri pulls back slightly, before doing a full 360 with its tail and then some. It can still hit you for about another 20 degrees after it finishes the first spin, so don’t let it fool you. Dodge straight through the tail for an easy evade.
Attack 5: Ground Slam
Damage: 5/10
Dodge Difficulty: 6/10
Frequency: 7/10
Literally the slam it does after finishing the Prismatic Blender attack, minus the blender bit and a slightly shorter attack window. Same rules apply.
Attack 6: Starfly Bombardment
Damage: 8/10
Dodge Difficulty: 3/10
Frequency: 4/10
This attack is telegraphed when it pulls back and flies up into the air before making the ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ pose and summoning a lot of Starflies next to it. Funnily enough, it almost never fires these directly in front of it, so standing there will grant you best results. It can fire them almost straight down though, so don’t think getting close will save you.
Attack 7: Radiant Airstrike
Damage: 8/10
Dodge Difficulty: 10/10
Frequency: 8/10
The Rezakiri makes a short dash at you before dropping several exploding radiant orbs that are annoying to dodge. They don’t all hit at once, the Artificer Omnicell doesn’t work from above, and they deal impact damage on hit and explosion damage in a deceptively wide area around them. For best results, once you see it begin the lunge, dodge either left or right and hope it misses.
Attack 8: Prismatic Cleaver
Damage: 7/10
Dodge Difficulty: 4/10
Frequency: 9/10
The Rezakiri pulls back and aims its tail at you before unloading a rapid-fire burst of vertical lasers in a fan pattern. They hit hard but are slow and easy to dodge by running horizontally, or by simply dodging through them and then chilling, as they change direction and go back the way they came after a while. The Artificer works inconsistently against the beams. Sometimes, it follows up with a ground slam.
Attack 10: Aetherslam
Damage: 5/10
Dodge Difficulty: 6/10
Frequency: 3/10
It’s a ground slam, but it aether-charges it. Not much else to be said.
Attack 11: Enrage Slam
Damage: 5/10
Dodge Difficulty: 6/10
Frequency: 3/10
See Attack 10, but ANGERY.
Attack 12: Prismatic Shredder
Damage: 6/10
Dodge Difficulty: 4/10
Frequency: 4/10
This attack only occurs when it’s enraged. It pulls up and readies what appears to be its Prismatic Blender but unleashes six beams instead of four that sometimes switch direction. If it’s aether-charged, it reverses the beams and sends them back into the circle. This can be dodged by waiting until they’re close, then dodging out of the circle.
Attack 13: Prismatic Mincer
Damage: 7/10
Dodge Difficulty: 5/10
Frequency: 4/10
The Rezakiri, when aether-charged, readies its Cleaver, but instead unleashes a fan of beams that start wide from both sides and narrow down. Waiting until the last possible instant to dodge through the beams helps avoid ending your dodge inside the beam.
Attack 13: Thunderdome Slam
The Rezakiri executes its ground slam, but teleports players around if aether-charged and, when enraged, traps players inside radiant domes. These bend light from the outside, leaving players open for attacks. The domes can’t be dodged, and sometimes it’s beneficial to actually get hit by the slam, as the knockback can launch you out of the dome spawn.
Damage: 5/10
Dodge Difficulty: 5/10
Frequency: 3/10
Attack 14: Rain of Terror
Damage: 9/10
Dodge Difficulty: 9/10
Frequency: 2/10
The Rezakiri pulls back, readies Starfly Bombardment, and executes it, only this time there’s a lot more Starflies and it executes Starfly Barrage as well. Use the Artificer shield. Thank me later.
Attack 15: Radiant Obliterator
Damage: 8/10
Dodge Difficulty: 1/10
Frequency: 3/10
The Rezakiri executes Prismatic Cleaver and Starfly Barrage in rapid succession. Dodge by simply getting behind it.
Part Tips
Rezakiris have a total of five parts you can knock off of them. Two Exoskeletal Plates, one Lustrous Tailplate, one Radiant Aethergem, and one Cracked Biocrystal. By far the most difficult of these to get are the Exoskeletal Plates. They have a lot of health and are unreachable most of the time. Lustrous Tailplates take a while to get as well but are made easier by the fact that they are almost always reachable. The Cracked Biocrystal is easier to get, as it has low health, and the Aethergem is basically a free stun. To maximize part gathering, smack the tail until it reaches half health, focusing on the legs and head whenever you can, then focus exclusively on the head and legs until you get the Biocrystal and the Exoskeletal Plates. Afterwards, break the tailplate, and then go for the Aethergem. You usually won’t have to go for specifically Aethergems at any point, as they have such low health that they’re often broken on accident. The Plates drop from the front claws (the bladed ones) and the Biocrystal drops from the head. If you must, hunt alone to maximize freedom, as Slayers on Razorcliff Isle will often kill the thing before you get the parts you need. I’ve found that the Paradox Breaks are much easier to gather on, as many Slayers there will either not bother you, or they’ll help you out. Flameborn Rezakiris are also easier to hunt thanks to their lack of radiant attacks. Their fire debuffs can be nullified with Molten Hearts, and one of their moves is just moving toward you. Imagine the Radiant Airstrike without the Airstrike part. They literally just dash in your direction.
Weapon Tips
When I hunt Rezakiris, I run War Pikes. The mortar rounds can deal heavy damage to single parts, which is made easy by its tendency to splay out when attacking. Harvesting attacks are the best to use against them, as they don’t have enough overall HP to justify attempting a wound in multiplayer. When I was working toward the two exotics, I went for the Godhand first, as it would make hunting Shrowds easier. At first, I ran full Valomyr armor and a Riftstalker pike, then graduated to a Shrowd pike after I made the Godhand. However, getting full Glyph Weaver gear makes the fight much easier, and the Alyra battles aren’t difficult, especially when there’s a small army of Slayers there, repeatedly activating the Paradoxicon. The Godhand should be obtained first, as the Prismatic Grace and Light armor gives no major combat bonuses. However, a Shrowd pike definitely does.
Omnicell Notes
Observant players will notice I recommended the Artificer Omnicell, which requires Rezakiri reagents to make in the first place. To get this, I recommend hunting Flameborn Rezakiris. They’re almost the same, but they shoot slower, their debuffs can be negated, and they don’t have the annoying Radiant Airstrike attack. Overall, I think they look amazing, and they’re much easier than normal Rezakiris.
Why Rezakiris?
First off, even if you don’t want the set, it looks awesome as a transmog. One of my favorite things to do is show up to an island like Restless Sands or Iron Falls in full Rezakiri with the Prismatic Grace and the Godhand or join a low-tier Radiant Escalation. The psychological effects of seeing someone with what looks like a futuristic battle suit and a laser cannon join the fray are something interesting. I’ll be watching a Firebrand Charrogg or a Nayzaga absolutely clowning on a group of Slayers, but when I drop in, they suddenly become a lot better. I also enjoy asking if anyone needs help hunting a specific Behemoth, and then assisting them. Additionally, the Godhand is great for Umbral Escalations or hunting Shrowds. Fun fact: the 100% damage bonus the Tragic Echo’s shadow clone has stacks with the 200% damage multiplier of a fully charged Godhand beam. And, if my math is right, the bonuses are applied one after the other, so you get more like 400% damage. Also, the Prismatic Grace is a must-have for anyone running a medic build.
Final Notes
These are just my opinions and should not be used as a hard set of rules. I’ll greatly appreciate feedback and suggestions on how this guide could be made better. What Behemoth should I provide tips about next? Let me know in the comments.

2023.06.10 00:00 ChronoisCross1999 Ideas for New Evolutions for Old Pokemon for Gen 10 Australia Based Region Part 1: Kanto Pokemon

So I've had some ideas for evolutions that could be given to old Pokemon from Gens 1-7 for an Australian based region ever since shortly after Gen 8 released, but never really posted them online because I wasn't sure what the rules for posting fanmade Pokemon ideas with their abilities, stats and inspirations were, but with the moderate success of my posts for my ideas for starters and story path ideas on this sub, I've decided to go ahead and post my ideas for 29 new additions to previous Pokemon lines that aren't regional or paradox forms, but are actual additions to the evolution line like Annihilape, Farigiraf, etc. from Gen 9.
What I'll be doing in this series of posts is gradually going through the first seven generations of Pokemon and choosing which Pokemon would be best suited to gain an evolution based on the wildlife and ecological conditions in Australia, as well as a few that I just think deserve to be buffed due to them being kind of underwhelming despite having a lot of potential.
I'll be listing what their classification in the Pokedex would be, how they factor into the previous evolution line, their abilities, their fully evolved stats (as well as how much that stat increased or decreased from its previous stage in parentheses beside it), and any other relevant notes explaining the evolution and what new role they could factor into. Also keep in mind that the Base Stat Total for these Pokemon will for the most part stay between the 500-530 range because of the Astral Ascension mechanic of the region allowing the temporary use of a Pokemon's second ability in battle, but there will be exceptions if the evolution is a gender counterpart evolution of an existing Pokemon or if I feel their stats should be slightly highelower than that range depending on what would fit their existing design.
Before getting into the evolution descriptions, if you haven't seen my other posts on an Australian based region detailing my ideas for starters and the possible story paths that could be included, they can be found by following the links below. Without further ado, let's get into the new evolutions!

Ampereow (Fearow Evolution)
Classification: Thunder Bird Pokemon
Evolution Line: Spearow (Normal/Flying)- Fearow (Normal/Flying) (Evolve at Level 20)- Ampereow (Electric/Flying) (Evolve Fearow with Electric Astral Type at Lightning Ridge)
Abilities: Volt Absorb/Sniper
Fully-Evolved Stats:
HP: 85 (+20)
Attack: 110 (+20)
Defense: 75 (+10)
Sp. Attack: 50 (-11)
Sp. Defense: 75 (+14)
Speed: 120 (+20)
Fully-Evolved Base Stat Total: 515
Other Notes: This might be the most out of left field evolution out of all the 29 Pokemon that I've chosen to give evolutions, but it goes to show how much of an impact the Dream World in the Auborn region can have on non-native Pokemon. It is thought that Ampereow first came into existence when a flock of Fearow flew south from Kanto for the winter, eventually landing in the Lightning Ridge mountain region (based on Thunder Ridge, an actual mountain in Australia). Upon landing there, they realized that they couldn't resist the strong lightning energy present in the area, but some of the Fearow felt an innate connection with the electricity present, and when they came into contact with some dream energy, they felt a strong desire to gain the electric type so they could be more like the legendary Pokemon Zapdos back home, which caused them to evolve into Ampereow. This population would remain in the Auborn region, while the other Fearow who didn't have the Electric Astral type went back to Kanto for the summer.
Getting to the battle side of things, I felt like Fearow deserved to get more attack and speed to become a more effective sweeper to help it gain some relevance again after Pidgeot got its own mega evolution back in Gen 6, while Fearow got nothing, and it has since been outclassed by some of the other regional birds as well, which made me think it deserved to get a third stage in its line. Upon Evolution, Ampereow will learn the signature move Thunder Flap, which is a physical Electric type move with 80 base power that deals either electric or flying type damage depending on what is most effective on the opponent. This move will not ignore the Ground-type immunity of electric type moves, however.

Nogard (Arbok Evolution)
Classification: Dragon Serpent Pokemon
Evolution Line: Ekans (Poison)- Arbok (Poison) (Evolve at Level 22)- Nogard (Poison/Dragon) (Level Up + Hold Dragon Scale)
Abilities: Intimidate/Shed Skin/Unnerve
Fully-Evolved Stats:
HP: 80 (+20)
Attack: 115 (+20)
Defense: 85 (+16)
Sp. Attack: 50 (-15)
Sp. Defense: 85 (+6)
Speed: 100 (+20)
Fully-Evolved Base Stat Total: 515
Other Notes: This is the only idea that isn't my own, since I've seen the concept of having a Dragon/Poison type evolution for Arbok before called Nogard, which is dragon spelled backwards, but it just worked too well for an Australian based region like Auborn, so I decided to include it anyway. The stat spread and decision to keep all the abilities the same were all my own, though. With Nogard, I felt like Arbok really only needed a slight buff to its stats across the board to become more viable, along with it gaining the dragon secondary type for added offensive capabilities, which has only been used before for Dragalge and Naganedel.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Paraspect (Parasect Evolution)
Classification: Mush Reaper Pokemon
Evolution Line: Paras (Bug/Grass)- Parasect (Bug/Grass) (Evolve at Level 24)- Paraspect (Bug/Ghost) (Learn Spore Scythe + Level Up)
Abilities: Effect Spore/Dry Skin/Cursed Body
Fully-Evolved Stats:
HP: 80 (+20)
Attack: 115 (+20)
Defense: 90 (+10)
Sp. Attack: 80 (+20)
Sp. Defense: 90 (+10)
Speed: 60 (+30)
Fully-Evolved Base Stat Total: 515
Other Notes: Parasect might be one of the worst Pokemon that were introduced in Generation 1. It had three 4x weaknesses to Fire, Flying, and Poison (Bug was weak to Poison in Gen 1) and although one of its quad weaknesses was reduced to a double weakness, it really hasn't gotten that much better, especially when compared to the glow-up that regional bugs got in Gen 5 and 7. With this project, I wanted to add in a few Dual type combinations that haven't been used yet as well as ones that have only been used once previously, which is what I did here with Paraspect, since only Shedinja has the Bug/Ghost typing as of Gen 9, and it's a gimmick Pokemon. Parasect will learn Spore Scythe at Level 36, which is a signature move that has 60 base power and is a Grass type attack that has a 10% chance of putting the opponent to sleep. Paraspect has a similar backstory for its evolution to Annihilape, where upon learning Spore Scythe it realized how much the spore on its back was taking advantage of it, so the spirit of Parasect decided to take back control of the husk it used to call its body, leading to it evolving into Paraspect.
_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Manatey (Dewgong Evolution)
Classification: Manatee Pokemon
Evolution Line: Seel (Water)- Dewgong (WateIce) (Level Up to Level 34)- Manatey (WateFairy) (Evolve Dewgong w/Fairy Astral Type)
Abilities: Thick Fat/Hydration/Water Absorb
Fully-Evolved Stats:
HP: 100 (+10)
Attack: 60 (-10)
Defense: 90 (+10)
Sp. Attack: 90 (+20)
Sp. Defense: 105 (+10)
Speed: 70 (+0)
Fully-Evolved Base Stat Total: 515
Other Notes: Dewgong is another one of those Gen 1 Pokemon that wasn't very memorable when it was first introduced due to being outclassed by nearly every other Water or Ice type in the game, and it hasn't really improved since then. Manatey improves on this by giving it a more memorable design, which I imagine would draw inspiration from mermaids like Primarina's design to reference the fact that manatees were commonly mistaken for mermaids in the past. It also gains two immunities to Water and Dragon thanks to both its ability and its new fairy typing, which replaced its Ice type for better defensive utility. With its new typing, it'll take 1.0 damage from Ice type attacks because of Thick Fat, but now Fire-type attacks also only deal 1.0 damage rather than the 2.0 it used to because of its secondary Ice typing, which also helps to make it a bit tankier overall.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Insomneous (Hypno Evolution)
Classification: Nightmare Tapir Pokemon
Evolution Line: Drowzee (Psychic)- Hypno (Psychic) (Evolve at Level 26)- Insomneous (Psychic/Dark) (Learn Nightmare + Level Up)
Abilities: Insomnia/InfiltratoInner Focus
Fully-Evolved Stats:
HP: 105 (+20)
Attack: 60 (-13)
Defense: 100 (+30)
Sp. Attack: 93 (+20)
Sp. Defense: 125 (+10)
Speed: 47 (-20)
Fully-Evolved Base Stat Total: 530
Other Notes: Hypno always felt like it got the short end of the stick, even when it was first introduced in Generation 1. It could be caught later than Abra, which outclassed it due to it being faster, and it only got worse as the generations went on, with it losing its base 115 special in favour of 115 special defense, and with the Psychic type in general becoming less relevant as the generations went on. With this evolution, I wanted to focus on making it more of a tank to differentiate it from other heavy hitting Psychic types, and its Forewarn ability was replaced with Infiltrator because it's infiltrating the dreams of its opponents. Its design expands on the yo-yo it held while it was a Hypno by drawing inspirations from both ventriloquists and clowns, which are common fears that people tend to have.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Kangaskid (Kangaskhan Pre-Evolution)
Classification: Baby Kanga Pokemon
Evolution Line: Kangaskid (Normal) (Breed Kangaskhan and Kangasking)- Kangaskhan (Normal) (Max Friendship w/ Female Kangaskid) OR Kangasking (Normal/Ground) (Max Friendship w/ Male Kangaskid)
Abilities: Early Bird/Scrappy/Inner Focus
1st Form Stats:
HP: 75
Attack: 65
Defense: 50
Sp. Attack: 30
Sp. Defense: 50
Speed: 60
1st Form Base Stat Total: 330
Other Notes: Kangaskhan has always felt like it needed a pre-evolution, since it's baby is quite literally already in its pouch when it hatches from an egg, and the mega-evolution it received in Gen 6 didn't help matters at all. To justify giving it a baby form, I also gave it a split Male/Female Evolution.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Kangasking (Kangaskid Male Evolution)
Classification: Parent Pokemon
Evolution Line: Kangaskid (Normal) (Breed Kangaskhan and Kangasking)- Kangaskhan (Normal) (Max Friendship w/ Female Kangaskid) OR Kangasking (Normal/Ground) (Max Friendship w/ Male Kangaskid)
Abilities: Moxie/Scrappy/Inner Focus
Fully-Evolved Stats:
HP: 90
Attack: 105
Defense: 80
Sp. Attack: 40
Sp. Defense: 80
Speed: 95
Fully Evolved Base Stat Total: 490
Other Notes: The male counterpart to Kangaskhan is more attack focused and is slightly faster than it, while also gaining the ground-type for STAB ground coverage, with the added bonus of having Moxie to increase its sweeping potential over Kangaskhan. Aside from that, it has the same base stat total as Kangaskhan.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Calfierce (Tauros & Miltank Pre-Evolution)
Classification: Fierce Calf Pokemon
Evolution Line: Calfierce (Normal) (Breed Tauros & Miltank)- Tauros (Normal) (Learn Wild Charge + Level Up Male Calfierce) OR Miltank (Normal) (Learn Rollout + Level Up Female Calfierce)
Abilities: Intimidate/Scrappy/Sap Sipper
1st Form Stats:
HP: 50
Attack: 65
Defense: 65
Sp. Attack: 30
Sp. Defense: 45
Speed: 75
1st Form Base Stat Total: 330
Other Notes: Tauros & Miltank have always felt like they should be related in some form, since they have the same base stat total and are generally found in similar locations in the games, and are usually even side by side in the regional Pokedex of games that they both appear in, but no connection has ever been canonically established between the two. Adding in Calfierce would allow trainers to gain access to the family earlier than they typically would while also not handing the player a single stage Pokemon with high stats that would steamroll the early game.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Mytheon (Eevee Dragon-Type Evolution)
Classification: Legend Pokemon
Evolution Line: Eevee (Normal)- Mytheon (Dragon) (Level Up + Hold Dragon Scale)
Abilities: Multiscale/Pure Power
Fully-Evolved Stats:
HP: 95
Attack: 60
Defense: 65
Sp. Attack: 130
Sp. Defense: 65
Speed: 110
Fully-Evolved Base Stat Total: 525 (585 when factoring in Pure Power)
Other Notes: The Dragon-type is the only one of the original special attacking types from the first three generations that doesn't have an Eeveelution, so I decided to rectify that with Mytheon. To commemorate the 10th Generation of Pokemon as well as having to wait nearly 30 years to get it, Mytheon technically has the highest base stat total out of all the Eeveelutions when factoring in Pure Power, which doubles Mytheon's Base attack from 60 to 120. It also has a gimmick with its abilities where you essentially have to decide whether you have double attack or double defense (at full HP only), giving it good synergy with the new Astral Ascension gameplay mechanic.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________
And there you have it. Part 2 of this series will focus on the evolutions for the Johto and Hoenn Pokemon, so look forward to seeing that in a week or two. I'm interested in hearing your thoughts on these evolutions in the comments!

Lore:
In the late 19th century, during the unsettling era of the Industrial Revolution, a small farming community nestled deep within the heartland of a forgotten country thrived under the care of a diligent and compassionate farmer named Jonathan Blackwood. As the crops flourished, so did the hopes and dreams of the townsfolk who relied on the bountiful harvest to sustain their humble lives.
Jonathan possessed an uncanny talent for tending to the land, seemingly blessed by nature itself. With his expertise, the fields yielded more than ever before, and the villagers marveled at the abundance of food that spilled forth from the earth. The sight of the flourishing crops enchanted the townsfolk, and their admiration for Jonathan soon transformed into something akin to worship.
However, as the seasons passed, the prosperity that once enveloped the farming community began to wane. The crops withered, livestock perished, and a sense of despair hung heavily in the air. Blighted by a mysterious blight that defied explanation, the town faced an imminent threat of famine.
Desperate to save his beloved community, Jonathan turned to the forbidden arts of the occult. Rumors whispered of his nocturnal excursions to ancient burial grounds, where he sought guidance from the spirits of the departed. Driven by his love for the people who depended on him, Jonathan was willing to do whatever it took to restore the land's fertility and safeguard their futures.
It was during one fateful moonlit night that Jonathan stumbled upon a hidden chamber within an ancient burial mound. Within its depths lay an ornate lantern, its ethereal glow pulsating with a sinister energy. Overwhelmed by a mixture of awe and trepidation, Jonathan cautiously reached out and touched the lantern, and as his fingers brushed against its surface, an unholy pact was forged.
The spirit that inhabited the lantern, a malevolent entity known as Mirage, sought vengeance for its own tragic demise centuries earlier. Empowered by the farmer's desperation, it offered Jonathan a twisted bargain. In exchange for the spirit's guidance and the restoration of the land, Jonathan would become the vessel through which the spirit would unleash its wrath upon the world.
Blinded by his desire to save his community, Jonathan accepted the wicked pact. In that moment, Mirage's essence seeped into his very being, transforming him into a grotesque amalgamation of man and spirit. The once kind-hearted farmer was reborn as The Scarecrow, a twisted figure shrouded in tattered garments and adorned with straw-stuffed limbs, his hollow eyes burning with otherworldly fury.
With the newfound powers granted by Mirage, The Scarecrow returned to his dying community. As he roamed the moonlit fields, the eerie glow of the lantern he now wielded cast long, haunting shadows across the barren landscape. The presence of The Scarecrow alone brought terror to the hearts of the townsfolk, as they realized that their beloved farmer had been irrevocably changed by dark forces.
No longer bound by the limitations of mortal flesh, The Scarecrow's malevolence manifested through the powers of the lantern. As he stalked his prey, the lantern's glow intensified, and an oppressive mist engulfed the surroundings. Within this ethereal fog, the Hunted found their senses dulled, their movements slowed, and their chances of survival diminished.
The Scarecrow reveled in the torment of his victims, deriving sadistic pleasure from their despair. The once benevolent farmer had become an embodiment of fear, a being who lurked within the mist, harvesting the souls of those unfortunate enough to cross his path. The townsfolk's worship had been replaced by fear.

Lore:
In the shadows of the 1970s, when crime and corruption permeated the streets, John Carlson emerged as a seasoned detective with a reputation for his tenacity and resourcefulness. Born and raised in a city plagued by lawlessness, John had a front-row seat to the injustices that unfolded daily. Determined to restore order and bring criminals to justice, he dedicated himself to his work, earning the respect of both his colleagues and the community he served.
John possessed an uncanny ability to uncover the truth, seeing beyond the façade and deciphering the intricate web of lies spun by criminals. His sharp mind and keen instincts made him a formidable adversary to those who sought to evade justice. However, as John delved deeper into the dark underbelly of the city, he unwittingly stumbled upon a secret society that thrived in the shadows—a clandestine organization known as Fog Whisperers.
Fueled by greed and power, Fog Whisperers operated with impunity, pulling the strings behind the scenes, orchestrating crime waves and manipulating key figures within the city. They saw John as a threat, a disruptor who posed a risk to their carefully constructed empire. In a calculated move to eliminate him, they devised a sinister plan.
One fateful night, as John tirelessly pursued a high-profile case, he received an anonymous tip leading him to an abandoned warehouse on the outskirts of the city. Unbeknownst to him, the tip was a carefully orchestrated trap. As he ventured deeper into the derelict building, he found himself ambushed by a group of masked assailants, agents of the Fog.
A vicious struggle ensued, but John was outnumbered and overwhelmed. Despite his valiant efforts, he was overpowered, beaten within an inch of his life. The assailants, believing they had dealt the detective a fatal blow, left him for dead, disappearing into the night.
However, fate had other plans for John. As his lifeblood seeped from his battered body, he was enveloped by an otherworldly mist, a manifestation of the very darkness he had fought against. In his darkest hour, the fog claimed him, granting him an unexpected second chance at life—but forever tethered to the fog and its twisted realm.
Now one with the fog, John emerged as a hunted survivor, trapped within the nightmarish trials orchestrated by the Fog. His skills as a detective proved invaluable in his quest for survival, enabling him to outsmart and evade the relentless hunters that pursued him. Yet, the line between self-preservation and selflessness became blurred for John. His desire to survive often clashed with his moral compass, as he would not hesitate to use his companions as distractions, ensuring his own escape.
While seen by some as a helpful survivor, John's reputation was marred by his self-serving tendencies. With every trial, he walked a precarious tightrope, balancing survival and the instinct to alert the hunter for his own benefit. His conflicted nature, a blend of resourcefulness and self-interest, painted him as a complex figure among the survivors, one whose actions could be both admired and criticized.
As John ventured deeper into the trials, he was haunted by the shadows of his past, the echoes of the crime-ridden city he had once fought to protect. In the fog's merciless embrace, he sought redemption, an opportunity to atone for the compromises he had made. The path ahead was treacherous, but John Carlson, the detective of old, remained determined to survive, to unravel the mysteries of the fog, and perhaps, find a way to free himself from its unforgiving grasp.

In the wake of the devastating conflict, she emerged as a symbol of hope, dedicating her life to the noble pursuit of medicine. Amy possessed an unwavering commitment to her patients, driven by a deep sense of empathy that compelled her to alleviate suffering and restore lives shattered by the horrors of war. As a doctor, Amy witnessed firsthand the physical and emotional scars etched upon the survivors and soldiers who sought solace in her care. Her days were filled with tireless efforts to mend broken bodies and fragile spirits, tending to wounds that ran deeper than mere flesh. Despite the ravages of war, she remained steadfast in her belief that even amidst the darkest of times, a glimmer of light could be found. However, fate had a twisted plan in store for Amy. One fateful night, while attending to a patient haunted by the memories of battle, an unnatural occurrence unfolded within the walls of the hospital. The fabric of reality ripped apart, and the darkness of the Fog began to seep into her world. Chaos ensued as the hospital transformed into a nightmarish reflection of its former self, with the Fog's influence warping the very essence of its occupants. Amidst the chaos, Amy found herself trapped within the fog, torn away from the life she once knew. Stripped of her medical tools and stripped of her purpose, she was forced to navigate a realm where survival became paramount. Despite the fear and confusion that surrounded her, Amy's altruistic nature remained unyielding, and she became a guiding light for her fellow survivors. Within the trials, Amy became known for her selflessness and unwavering support for her companions. She would risk her own safety to tend to the wounded, offering solace and healing amidst the relentless pursuit of the Hunters. Her presence served as a source of comfort, as survivors found solace in her compassionate spirit, drawing strength from her unwavering commitment to their well-being. However, even the brightest lights can cast shadows, and Amy carried her own burden of survivor's guilt. Haunted by the faces of those she couldn't save, she yearned for redemption, seeking solace within the trials. Every survivor she aided, every life she mended, served as a testament to her unyielding resolve and her determination to rise above the darkness that threatened to consume them all. Though trapped within the fog, Amy remained a beacon of hope, reminding her fellow survivors that compassion and kindness could endure even in the most desolate of landscapes. Lore:
Kris Hackley had always been the embodiment of determination and leadership. As the captain of her local hockey team, she commanded respect and pushed her teammates to their limits. Yet, beneath her strong exterior, Kris harbored a simmering discontent towards those she perceived as unworthy or unfamiliar. It was this disdain that brought her to the fateful trip to the mountain, seeking an escape from the confines of her team and the pressure of her responsibilities. The day started with a hockey game, where Kris once again led her team to victory. But instead of relishing in the triumph, she found herself growing increasingly irritated with her teammates' shortcomings and mistakes. Seeking solace from the persistent frustration, Kris agreed to join her friends—Emma, Ethan, Anthony, Kyler, Kara, and her siblings Jamison and Kayley—for a weekend getaway in the serene mountain retreat. However, tensions began to rise as Anthony introduced a newcomer to the group—Olivia. Kris immediately resented the intrusion, perceiving Olivia as an unwelcome disruption to their tightly-knit circle. Her feelings of superiority and territoriality cast a shadow over the trip, as Kris became increasingly distant and hostile towards Olivia. As the group ventured further into the secluded mountain, their bonds began to strain under the weight of Kris's disdain. Unbeknownst to them, the dark presence of the fog had already begun to weave its way into their lives. It sensed Kris's isolation and resentment, drawing her closer to its clutches. Tragedy struck when Kris, consumed by her own emotions, failed to extend a helping hand to those in need. As they engaged in risky activities, disaster struck one by one. Kris watched in horror as Emma, Ethan, and Anthony succumbed to their fates—severing the already fragile bonds of friendship. Jamison and Kayley, her own siblings, suffered the consequences of her indifference. Overwhelmed with guilt and remorse, Kris found herself separated from the remaining survivors—Olivia and Kyler. Alone in the unforgiving mountain terrain, the fog began to envelop her, offering a haunting embrace that echoed her internal turmoil. In that moment, Kris's fate intertwined with the fog, becoming one with its ethereal realm. Now, as a Hunted survivor, Kris roams the trials, forever trapped within the fog's grasp. Her once fierce determination transformed into a relentless struggle for survival, and her perceived superiority challenged by the enigmatic horrors that lurk in the shadows. The lessons learned from her past failures now guide her, as she navigates the trials with a newfound sense of humility and empathy. Though the memory of her selfishness lingers, Kris's journey through the fog offers her a chance at redemption. She seeks to overcome her former limitations and forge new bonds, recognizing that unity and selflessness are the keys to survival in this twisted fog.

2023.06.09 23:48 laudav_art Ethics/legality of using someone else's taxidermy as reference for my painting?

Maybe this is a really dumb question lol but I'd love to discuss this with people who know more about IP and even just what's considered an art faux pas.
I have an idea for a painting that I'm looking to enter in a local art competition. It involves referencing a piece of taxidermy (two animals together in a very distinctive pose) at my local museum. I would be lighting it myself, making a digital composit with a still-life scene I'll make at home and using this closely as a reference for an oil painting.
It'll be a small scene on a table, kinda classical, a branch/vase/fruits/veggies/flowers etc, with these taxidermy animals in the middle. They'll be the main focus but not the whole idea. One animal is about to eat the other one so it's a recognizable work.
It just seems like maybe a bit of a grey area because obviously taxidermy is an art form in itself, and somebody else made it. Does this count as a form of intellectual property that I can't utilize for my own art?
It's possible that it's an old piece of taxidermy and the artist is no longer alive. I'd also be getting permission from the museum and having somebody let me in the cabinet to photograph it properly.
Would it be considered the same as... using pottery in a still life, or a marble statue, something somebody else has made? What's the consensus on that? If it's in a scene and I'm painting it with other stuff, that would be changing it and not copying it anyway, right?
I would assume this would be okay but I want to be certain since this is for an art competition and I'd like to not accidentally get in trouble :D thank you!

2023.06.09 23:22 aitk6n Can neck, shoulder, wrist and ankle aches be related if they're all on the same side of the body (left)?

(28M)
Although I can't quite pin point it, there's something going on with the left side of my body. I've had a dull ache at the lower, left side of my neck, a dull ache on my lower left shoulder, which sometimes feels like it may be coming from deep inside my bicep. My left wrist is slightly aching 70% of the time, as well as my left ankle. It feels like I sometimes have an urge to try and crack it (wrist) or bend it left and right. It's also slightly weak; my entire left side feels noticeably weaker than the right. Although it is not my strong side (right handed and right footed), it doesn't feel right.
I've had an x-ray on my left shoulder which showed no abnormalities. I was actually surprised at this result as I was expecting (maybe hoping?) something. I can push my left arm down towards the ground and my arm pops out and slightly drops, with ease sometimes. I have stopped doing this for the last 2-3 months and it does feel like more force would be required to do it again.
I've been seeing a chiropractor for 2-3 months (8 or 9 sessions), and I do get relief on my neck after an adjustment session. But it only lasts for a few days before it feels like I need to crack it again. There is, what I can only describe as a knot, on the lower left side of my neck. Sometimes if I'm driving my neck may start to hurt as if it needs a rest, and if I lightly squeeze my fingers into this knot, it relieves the strained neck feeling. I have mentioned this to my chiropractor and she has felt it, although she didn't say much about it.
I'm wondering could this knot(?) be the cause of this? The pain is usually worse in the morning until I stretch. I use a Groove pillow and tend to sleep on my right side more than my left. Not because of the pain, I just find it comfier.
My chiropractor said if we see no improvements, she's going to refer me for a kinetic MRI. I haven't actually saw a medical doctor yet as our health system is not in its best state.
I'm a healthy 28 year old male. I'm 5ft 10in and 11 stone. I'm a telecoms engineer and I climb cell towers from time to time with a harness and tool bag. I also ride a motorcycle (sport style).
I've experienced this for, I think, maybe 3 years.
Now the final part, which is fairly personal: I had surgery for a hernia when I was maybe 5-6 years old, and my left testicle seems to be stuck and doesn't hang normally like my right does. It feels like it's caught at the top and hurts when you lightly try to pull it down. Not sure if it's related, but for a while I've had a feeling it could be, in some way.
EDIT: I completely forgot about the left side of my jaw... I think I may have TMJ on my left side. It clicks when I eat, I hear what I can only describe as crunching when I move it a certain way etc.

2023.06.09 23:16 Traditional_Car_229 please help

this is taking over my life.
unlike most people in this sub, my phobia had only developed about a year ago. it resulted from me trying magic mushrooms and them not sitting well in my stomach. before then i was a heavy stoner and would do anything for fun. I don’t touch weed or alcohol because of the incredible anxiety of adverse affects, i think that’s a positive thing personally, but it also goes to show the hold this has on my life. prior to that night i hadn’t vomited for years-and i didn’t really mind it when i did. but now it’s all i can think about some days. i can’t eat foods i used to adore (milkshakes, pizza, hot chips etc) even though they have never made me sick. i religiously check expiration dates and i can’t eat full meals. i was referred to an eating specialist where i was diagnosed with ARFID (Avoidant restrictive food intake disorder) but that never really went anywhere because this disorder is usually associated with those who have difficulty with textures. when you think of an ED, typically you think of body image issues but that’s not what this is at all. i’m dropping weight by the day and i’m concerned for my health. i don’t want to live like this anymore, it has consumed my life.
existing feels exhausting and i want to get help, i don’t know where to start. i would do anything.

i (19F) have been suffering with weird symptoms and irregular problems with my health for the past couple of years,
in november 2021 i got a period which didn’t stop until august 2022 (unbelievable i know😭😭😭) during that time my gp did not believe me and thought i was exaggerating the fact that i was constantly bleeding profusely with large clots the size of a tennis ball,
she ended up referring me to the gynocologist for a scan which i ended up having twice which led to nothing as she got back to me saying they were nothing abnormal at all, which then led to me being referred to the endocrinologist - which i’ve only been able to see this week due to shameful waiting times here in the uk.
after referring me (during around march 2022) i continued to come back to the gp as nothing was being done about my heavy and painful period, although i mentioned many times i’d been bleeding for months!!!
then in july of that year, i was put on the combined pill in hopes of regulating my period ; this did absolutely nothing and ended up making the problem worse as for some reason it caused me even more clots and irregularities, eventually i went back to the gp for something to help stop the bleeding, i was then told it’s because i “took them incorrectly” which was not true.. regardless.
i was put onto tranexamic acid to use whilst my bleeding was heavy to try help it, alongside a different birth control.
despite being very tired and giving up on asking for help, i started taking it as directed along with the birth control : this ended up with me in A&E as i was fainting and unable to walk due to how exhausted and tired my body was at this stage, i was taken by an ambulance and had to wait hours in a&e just to be told to switch to another birth control and use it for 6 months before i can see the gyno.. i still haven’t had that appointment!
forwarding into september 2022, i stopped taking the pills they prescribed me as they didn’t do anything to me either, sometimes i’d have a lesser period but that’s it, i was still bleeding when i shouldn’t be and felt horrible.
in around october of last year i was started on evra patches as i complained again that the pills are completely not right for me ; i was okay for the first couple of weeks until my gp got me to take a hormone blood test which showed high levels of cortisone - this ment that i was then told to leave the patches for a month for an additional blood test afterward when i’d be without these in my system.
the blood test showed that my levels were still abnormal and so my referral to the endocrinologist was followed up on by my gp to ensure i’d get an appointment.
all this time i had absolutely no idea what this could be as nothing was abnormal with my ovaries or uterus.
today i finally got to see the endocrinologist and he was completely understanding and attentive to detail about my history and symptoms, he immediately told me that it sounds like cushing’s or pcos, but leaning towards cushing’s.
i’ve been prescribed the 1mg decamethsone one for the blood test i’m taking hopefully on monday which will make it apparent if i have cushing’s or not.
for now, i’d like to just mention my symptoms and see if anyone else has had similar experiences as me and what came out of it, i’ve felt very alone up until this moment and im hoping for diagnosis soon, even if it turns out to not be this.
•hump on the back of my neck •purple stretch marks on hips, stomach and armpit areas. •high cortisol like mentioned. •dizziness and shaking. •fatigue •very round face due to my weight gain •30+ kg gain since my period irregularities started. •feeling my heartbeat faster than usual
i hope this is all but this is all that comes to my mind right now, i might come back to post after getting results :)
thanks!

2023.06.09 23:04 SnooSuggestions9986 All the Tips i can give that helped me to Overcome my OCD without medication.

I will give all the tips I can think of that helped me overcome my OCD hope these help you best of luck I know you can beat it!!!!
Acceptance: Embrace acceptance as your life philosophy. Accept the circumstances you are in, and then strive to change them. Remember, what you resist persists.

Belief System: Your belief system holds great importance. If you truly believe you can accomplish something, you will have the power to do so. Conversely, if you don't believe in your ability to overcome OCD, you will struggle. Refrain from giving OCD power over you. Consider the story of David and Goliath by Doe Dispanza, which references a book he read, emphasizing the impact of belief.

Reaction: Learn how not to react impulsively to inner and outer events. Find a balance between reacting and non-reacting. For example, when it comes to OCD triggers, practice not reacting immediately. However, it is also essential to express and process your emotions, rather than bottling them up.

Understanding Your Mind and Body:

A) Emotions: Treat your emotions like children (they need attention), observing them as they arise. Paying attention to your anxiety from the moment it starts can help it dissipate faster. For instance, noticing your anger promptly enables you to control it and avoid reactive behavior.

B) Thoughts: As mentioned earlier, you possess the power to choose whether to believe a thought or disregard it. Act as the gatekeeper of your mind, allowing thoughts that benefit your well-being. Recognize that your mind is influenced by the impressions you have gained from your surroundings. It constantly recycles what it knows and what it has experienced through your senses. your mind doesn't recognize good from bad its only currency is attention the more you give something attention the more your mind will see it as useful resulting in repetition and the more you ignore it your mind will see it as useless information.

The Art of Observation: Cultivate the skill of being observant in your inner experiences and outer circumstances. Seek to understand why things happen, as this leads to greater insight. For example, consider the hunger example when you get hungry your mind will start thinking about food. observing how your mind behaves under different conditions.

Physical Training: Recognize the strong connection between your mind and body. Engage in physical exercise to strengthen your body, knowing that it positively impacts your mental well-being.

Finding Happiness: Each person has a unique source of happiness. Reflect on what truly makes you happy. While going out, drinking, and spending time with friends may bring joy temporarily, they are not sustainable sources of happiness. These are experiences of joy, often mistaken for true happiness. Instead, find an infinite source of happiness within yourself. You are the generator of happiness, the factory producing it. Additionally, happiness is a combination of habit and belief systems. When you smile, your mind releases mood-enhancing chemicals. I recommend closing your eyes, smiling, and focusing your attention on your smile. This exercise will train your body to smile naturally, leading to spontaneous smiles over time.

Mental Models: Build a mental model that supports your journey. Your words and thoughts have a powerful influence, similar to hypnosis. The more you repeat and genuinely believe positive statements, the more they manifest in reality. For example, you could start your day with affirmations like "I am healthy, I am a fighter, I am blessed."

Gratitude: Embrace gratitude as a transformative practice in your life. The more you cultivate gratitude, the easier your life becomes. Express appreciation for the positive aspects of your life, as it brings numerous mental and physical benefits to your well-being.

Disregard Subconscious Thoughts: Simply ignore all thoughts originating from your subconscious mind. Why should you give them attention? It's akin to how we don't pay attention to our heartbeats when they're normal, but only notice them when they become irregular. Apply this principle to your thoughts and consciously choose to disregard and not engage with any thoughts generated by your subconscious. By doing so, you can free yourself from unnecessary mental clutter and focus on thoughts that align with your well-being and goals.

2023.06.09 22:59 SmokeyFrank PC Projector for Standings

This is slightly off-topic for bowling in a specific sense, but I'm looking into a projector that can display standings-in-progress of a bowling tournament, output from an Excel spreadsheet onto a wall or portable screen at a center. I know there are many here who have experience and knowledge of things outside bowling.
Portability is one aspect; no need for speakers although I'm sure many have one built-in. Don't need a remote. I'd lean towards Business/Educational display (doesn't necessarily have to be able to project a video, but wouldn't hurt). I know there are those that would use a USB connection, and/or HDMI. USB-C would be great (I'm referring to the interface port, not bowling's national governing body). I'm also aware that there are some that use a rechargeable battery; others might have a power adaptor.
I'd like to stay under 250 if possible.
Computer has USB-C and HDMI ports; shouldn't matter but it's an M2 MacBook Pro running Windows 11 via Parallels; Excel will be in the Win11 environment.

2023.06.09 22:56 bigM337 My spouse wants a list of the issues that make my belief in the truth claims impossible

So I wrote this. Recycled ideas, but eventually all of this will be cited. It's basically my own CES Letter. The formatting is weird because this is coming over from Notion.
I had to write this out to start my own deconstruction anyway, but giving it to my spouse will be interesting. Read it if you want. Critique it if you want. I just had to get this out into the universe.

  1. The concept that the Church can lie to you
    1. Rather than being told the entire truth about Joseph Smith’s death, we are told that he is innocent of any crime and that he went to deliver himself up. The truth of the matter is, Joseph Smith was in jail for destroying the property of William Law, who was creating a newspaper called the Nauvoo Expositor. He ordered the printing press be destroyed and violated the first amendment, as well as destroying another’s property. The newspaper exposed polygamy and many of the other immoralities of the Church. On the surface, this lie doesn’t seem egregious, but D&C 135 section mentions that Joseph was a martyr for the religion, and I was always taught this. However, he didn’t deliver himself up to be killed and it wasn’t because he was a “mormon”; it was because he broke the law and had angered a mob. All of this was a direct result of him practicing polygamy and yielding so much power.
    2. The method of translating the Book of Mormon was largely misrepresented to me as a youth, missionary, and young adult. I was always taught, whether through art or articles, that Joseph used the Gold Plates to translate the Book of Mormon.
    3. However, upon widespread discovery of further quotes and scrutiny, in 2014 the Church admitted that the translation was done through a rock and a hat. This is justified by quoting the Book of Mormon where it talks about bringing forth a stone to shine forth in the darkness. (Alma 37:23-24). The methods of translation accounts differ from each other. Martin Harris saying they were done by sitting across the table. Oliver Cowdery saying it was done by the urim and thummim or two stones and spectacles. To be clear, I am okay with some ambiguity surrounding the translation, or it being by the power of God. What I’m not okay with is the church deceiving how it was done until the internet era forced them to release the Gospel Topic Essays on this subject.
    4. The implementation of polygamy. a. Left ambiguous for a reason. How Joseph Smith, Brigham Young, Wilford Woodruff, Heber C. Kimball and many other high ranking church members took many wives including teenage wives. The church’s essay on this topic refers to Helen Mar Kimball, a 14 year old, as “several months before her 15th birthday.” In fact, they even say that Helen said it was for “eternity alone” but that is an out of context poem from Helen’s journal. There is no proof of sexual relations, but there are proof in many other relatoinships, including Fanny Alger, Joseph’s first “wife” that Oliver Cowdery called a filthy affair. He was excommunicated partly due to that statement. b. Joseph Smith wrote a letter to 19-year old Nancy Rigdon propositioning her to marry him after she denied his appeal in 1842. This letter is quoted in General Conference many times over the years, “Happiness is the object and design of our existence, and will be the end thereof if we pursue the path that leads to it; and this path is virtue, uprightness, faithfulness, holiness, and keeping all the commandments of God.” He then goes on to tell her that we cannot obey the commandments if we don’t know them and what seems wrong, can actually be right in certain circumstances. He quotes the times God has contradicted Himself in the scriptures. This letter is gross. Note that it comes right before the plural marriage revelation D&C 132. c. Joseph claimed that an angel with a drawn sword made him marry Zina Huntington Jacobs, despite her engagement to Henry Jacobs. He sent Henry on missions. She did stay faithful and was eventually sealed to Brigham Young, who also subsequently sent Henry Jacobs on missions. d. This doesn’t even take into account the actions of preceeding prophets who were married to dozens of women, sealed to hundreds, and many of them were underage. Wilford Woodruff for instance sealed himself to a 6 year old girl who had passed away, inexplicably. Maybe he didn’t know? Maybe he did? Who knows.
    5. D&C 132- Joseph Smith was sealed to over 20 wives before being sealed to Emma. He denied being polygamous publicly multiple times and the relief society (of which, Emma was president) wrote a letter condemning polygamy, while one of the presidency members was sealed to Joseph.
      1. Law of Sarah was violated before it was ever implemented
      2. Joseph performing a second marriage to the Whitney sisters after Emma approved it.
      3. Women must be virgins, while Joseph was married to other married women (at least 2).
      4. Abraham was not commanded by God to practice plural marriage, he was asked by Sarah to marry Hagoth because Sarah was barren.
      5. Additionally, Jacob condemns polygamy in the Book of Mormon but then God okays it in the D&C 132, both of them specifically citing the examples of Soloman and David.
      6. Plural marriage is the “new and everlasting covenant” implying that plural marriage in the celestial kingdom will be the new and everlasting covenant and required.
      7. 5. Historicity of the Book of Abraham There is an entire Gospel Topics Essay on this but the background is as follows. A guy named Michael Chandler shows up in Kirland with mummies and a bunch of scrolls. They were unearthed by Napoleon’s raiding of the Egyptian catacombs. Joseph believes that they are scrolls that contained writings of Abraham. He begins translation in 1835 and publishes it in May of 1842. The odds that these mummies, coming from a salesman who had a lot to gain, containing the written word of Abraham has always seemed really fortunate. In the Pearl of Great Price, the heading says they are penned by “the hand of Abraham” but according to scholars in and out of the church, they were written much later. “These fragments date to between the third century B.C.E. and the first century C.E., long after Abraham lived.” Not only is it not written by Abraham’s hand, it is also not anything to do with Abraham. In Joseph’s time, the Rosetta Stone had not been widely discovered. He began translating this book and now, experts know that these are standard funerary texts. The Facsimiles (pictures) have nothing to do with the sacrifice of Abraham. Everyone virtually agrees that what is on the remains of the scroll (most of which was lost in the Chicago fire but then recovered), is not what Joseph translated. This casts a large shadow of doubt on Joseph’s ability to translate. The Church is admitting that Joseph translated incorrectly. The only way to reconcile this is that Joseph used these scrolls to channel the Spirit to record what is in the Book of Abraham today. The doctrines in Abraham largely expand on the Genesis story but go deeper in doctrines about plurality of Gods and the creation of the universe and stars. Some of this goes against the Book of Mormon’s view of God. The Authenticity of the Book of Mormon
      8. This is arguably the largest domino that needs to stay in place. Here are a few quotes demonstrating the absolute necessity of the Book of Mormon being an authentic history of the peoples on this continent.
      9. The Book of Mormon is God’s compelling witness of the divinity of Jesus Christ, the prophetic calling of Joseph Smith, and the absolute truth of this Church.” - Tad R. Callister
      10. The Book of Mormon is the most important religious text to be revealed from God to man ‘since the writings of the New Testament were compiled nearly two millennia ago.’ Joseph Smith declared the Book of Mormon to be “the most correct of any book on earth, and the keystone of our religion.” It is the only book that the Lord Himself has testified to be true.” - President Nelson
      11. I testify that one cannot come to full faith in this latter-day work—and thereby find the fullest measure of peace and comfort in these, our times—until he or she embraces the divinity of the Book of Mormon and the Lord Jesus Christ, of whom it testifies…and if he or she leaves this Church, it must be done by crawling over or under or around the Book of Mormon to make that exit. In that sense the book is what Christ Himself was said to be: “a stone of stumbling, … a rock of offence,” a barrier in the path of one who wishes not to believe in this work.” - Jeffrey R. Holland.
      12. "All that we have, all that we do hinge on the truth of that account of the boy Joseph Smith. If it is true, then everything that we have in this Church is true and is more precious and worth more than anything else on earth. If it is false, we are engaged in the greatest fraud that was ever perpetrated on earth.” - Gordon B Hinckley
      13. So with all that being said, this is my biggest stumbling block. I will begin with my own issues with the book that happened long before I was ever introduced to anything outside of approved Church material.
      14. The Sermon on the Mount given to the Nephites in 3 Nephi matches almost exactly to the one given in Matthew, with slight changes. He sets up a church similar to the one set up with Peter. But, the only issue is years later, Joseph Smith writes the JST and corrects different things in the Matthew version of the Sermon. But, if the Book of Mormon is the most correct book on earth, wouldn’t the writings have been exactly what the Savior meant?
      15. 2 Nephi 3 - Book of Mormon writes Joseph into the text relating a prophecy given to Joseph in Egypt, saying that a choice seer will be raised up and he will be named the Joseph after his father. 2 Nephi 3: 14-16
      16. There is a huge time lapse between Jarom and Omni to get us into Mosiah. 399 BC to 130 BC. The prophets basically write nothing and it seems like it’s just a transition to get to Mosiah.
      17. Ammon chopping off a ton of arms and all the people bring them to the king. The story of Ammon in general is crazy. The King is struck down for 3 days and his wife thinks he is dead. Then, Ammon converts this king who then goes and rescues Ammon’s brothers from another king.
      18. Other direct copies from the New Testament and Paul specifically found in the Book of Mormon. Moroni 7 is basically the same phrasing and concepts taught in 1 Corinthians 13. 2 Nephi 4:17 says “O wrteched man that I am” matches exactly to Romans 7:24.
      19. Alma the Younger’s story mirrors Paul the apostles history almost exactly. Both are destroying the church, get struck down by an Angel, go on to become amazing missionaries and even both appear before King’s and wicked people.
      20. The concepts taught in the Book of Mormon are basically christian. They are practicing Christianity as soon as middle of Mosiah, which is like 100BC. They are baptizing and confirming with the Holy Ghost. However, since Christ hadn’t fulfilled the law of Moses and they should’ve been practicing the Mosaic law. The book contains basically zero Mosaic and Hebrew traditions, which Lehi and his family would have been sharply familiar with. Instead, they practice Christianity before Jesus had even been born or practiced the Atonement.
      21. Joseph Smith almost never quotes from it. In fact, I’ve searched and searched and only found him reference it maybe once or twice. If this book is so important, shouldn’t it had been quoted from extensively. It doesn’t become a huge focus until basically the 1980s with Ezra Taft Benson started “flooding the earth with the Book of Mormon.” I’ve read Brigham Young’s entire Discourses of Brigham Young and he rarely mentions the Book of Mormon. While this proves very little, it just intensifies the idea to me that Joseph wrote it and did not consider it authentic scripture, even for himself.
      22. King Zedekiah Problem - The timeline of when Nephi left Jerusalem in the reign of King Zedekiah in preparation for the destruction of Jerusalem. But, King Nebuchednezzar had already invaded Judah twice by 599BC., two years prior to the Book of Mormon. He then Installed Zedekiah (formerly known as Mattaniah) as King of Jerusalem (2 Kings 24:11-18). So what does this mean?
      23. I will leave out the potential influences here because I do not think they are helpful nor likely to be true source material for the Book of Mormon. I think they are largely speculation and created just to create doubt without much validity or true sources. Do we know if Joseph accessed these works? Not really. But, it’s possible. There are a myriad of other problems with the Book of Mormon when examined scientifically, but that doesn’t really bother me so much. The church has an essay on DNA of Israelites not being in “Lamanite” or native american blood, despite many church leaders preaching that for years. It’s even included in the Book of Mormon title page until like 2006 or something. Additionally, Joseph Smith almost never quotes or teaches from the Book of Mormon. If it’s the most correct book of any on the earth, why is he not basing his sermons off these stories and scriptures?
      24. The Book of Mormon require that 3 key events from the Bible be literal events: a global flood in the times of Noah that covered the entire earth, Adam and Eve in the garden, and different languages occuring because God cursed people at the Tower of Babel.
      25. When I read the Book of Mormon, if I view it from a purely protestant view, it matches up doctrinally. In fact, it matches more purely with a presbyterian or methodist view of the atonement and doctrines (including the original trinitarian concepts taught in the Book before changes by Joseph Smith in 1837, eight years after the Book of Mormon was published and his first vision account that mentions God and Jesus being separate beings)
      26. The Charles Anthon Story is posed as a faith promoting story and prophecy fulfillment of Isaiah 29:11-12, where the learned wouldn’t be able to read a sealed book. So here’s the Church Narrative as found in JSH.
      27. Once i take off my believing member hat and look at this story objectively, it looks to me like complete and total BS. I am honestly insulted that this was taught and passed off to me as some amazing prophecy of Isaiah that was passed on to me.
Disavowed teachings and behavior of former prophets and leaders.
  1. Brigham Young
    1. Adam-God theory was taught in the temple and considered straight doctrine by the “prophet” Brigham Young.
    2. Blood Atonement was also taught in the early Utah days
    3. Brigham taught that no man can receive the highest exaltation without taking on extra wives.
    4. Brigham young definitely was in approval (either before or after) of the Mountain Meadows Massacre, which is the slaughtering of innocent immigrants heading west. They luckily spared the smallest children and raised them Mormon. He scapegoated John D Lee who suffered the death penalty, despite being rewarded with “wives” by Brigham Young prior to that. Hmmmm
  2. Blacks and the Priesthood
    1. So so so many quotes could go under here talking about how black people would never receive priesthood or temple covenants. The list could go on. I don’t need to repeat them all but in the Gospel Topics Essays, the Church disavows all racist teachings from the past.
    2. Book of Mormon and Abraham still talk about the curse of dark skin. The Lamanites are cursed but then will become “white and delightsome” as they repent (according to Spencer W. Kimball)
    3. How many prophets were completely wrong on this topic? Even after the Civil Rights movement which was going on 15 years earlier. The Church always seeems to be a step behind.
  3. Polygamy
    1. Again, I could write a book on how much early leaders emphasized the heavenly requirement for a man to have multiple wives.
    2. Wilford Woodruff was sealed to like a 200 something wives on his birthday, including a six year old who had passed away. This can be found on FamilySearch
    3. The leaders of the Church didn’t stop practicing polygamy until around 1910, which is 20 years after the Manifesto, forced upon them by the US Government. This policy change wasn’t inspiration — to was a matter of the Mormons keeping their stuff or not.
  4. Science
    1. Age of the Earth — Joseph Smith says that the earth has a temporal existence of 7,000 years before it will receive it’s eternal glory. This was a common thought back then and ties back into the Old Testament timeline. I was taught this in Seminary. Going back to Adam and Seth, then to Abraham and to modern day. It all lines up so that the Second Coming will be happening soon.
    2. Adam + Eve — This one is very hard for me to get past because the proof is indisputable: human life did not begin 6,000 years ago by two human beings. There was physical death long before it was introduced by the partaking of the forbidden fruit. It is fact. To deny it would be like denying that the Earth is round or orbits the Sun. So is this an allegory? Well Joseph Smith down to current general authorities have taught that this is LITERAL. The temple clearly emphasizes this. This is something BIG to get wrong. Considering Joseph Smith taught that it happened in the garden of Eden which was in Missouri.
    3. Noah’s Ark — This has to be literal as it is in the Book of Mormon as a fact. It’s also been “revealed” to have been a literal, global flood that covered the earth and cleansed the earth of all inhabitants. We also have doctrine in our church that says modern day revelation has confirmed this fact. But, this “story” is largely based on the Babylonian tale “The Epic of Gilgamesh.” It was recorded before the Hebrew Bible recorded the tale of Noah. The stories are earily similar and there are so many throughout other cultures of a great flood. Maybe that makes it more likely? Or maybe it was just a prevailing thought in that time period. Either way, scientific evidence knows that Noah’s Ark never happened because a huge flood never happened. And ask yourself, how in the world would they get all the animals on a boat? Is this really realistic?
    4. Tower of Babel — This is the genesis of the Jaredites. The Lord was confounding the language of the people, so the Brother of Jared goes and asks that they are spared. Eventually they are led to the Americas (which has a host of other problems). But, this story has to be literal because that’s exactly what’s happening in the Jaredite civilization to lead them to cross the ocean. But language evolved over tens of thousands of years and had nothing to do with a tower in around 2500 BC.
    5. Evolution — This fact goes along with Adam and Eve. Modern day prophets have disavowed this fact. In fact, Joseph Fielding Smit said “If evolution is true, the church is false” in Doctrines of Salvation, which was written while he was the prophet.

  1. Sexual Assault Cover Ups - This one is pretty self explanatory. There are hundreds of occasions and the most recent ones in the news are pretty disgusting. The fact that the Church didn’t report, and had systems in place to protect itself rather than the victims, makes me sick.
  2. First Vision Accounts - In many Church media films and the way I was taught at a young age, Joseph had the first vision and then was mocked by the people of Palmyra for believing in visions. I had not idea that this was not the case. In fact, Joseph never wrote anything down until 1832. The accounts from 1832, 1835, 1838, and 1842 paint a picture of someone who was expanding, molding, and letting this vision evolve. The reasons why he went out to pray in the trees changes. First, it’s to receive a remission of his sins. He also says in that account that he’s already concluded that the church’s of his day are fallen. Then it evolves. He also says the Lord appears. Then it’s angels. Then it’s the Lord and His Father. He mentions that it had never entered his heart that they were all wrong in the Canonized JSH we have in the Pearl of Great Price. But, then he says he already knew they were wrong in earlier versions? In fact, Asa Wild and Norris Stearns have visions in 1815 and 1823 in the same area as Joseph Smith and the verbiage used is similar. Norris Stearns says, “At length, as I lay apparently upon the brink of eternal woe, seeing nothing but death before me, suddenly there came a sweet flow of the love of God to my soul, which gradually increased. At the same time, there appeared a small gleam of light in the room, above the brightness of the sun, then at his meridian, which grew brighter and brighter: As this light and love increased, my sins began to separate, and the Mountain [of sin] removed towards the east. At length, being in an ecstasy of joy, I turned to the other side of the bed, (whether in the body or out I cannot tell, God knoweth) there I saw two spirits, which I knew at the first sight. But if I had the tongue of an Angel I could not describe their glory, for they brought the joys of heaven with them. One was God, my Maker, almost in bodily shape like a man. His face was, as it were a flame of Fire, and his body, as it had been a Pillar and a Cloud. In looking steadfastly to discern features, I could see none, but a small glimpse would appear in some other place. Below him stood Jesus Christ my Redeemer, in perfect shape like a man-His face was not ablaze, but had the countenance of fire, being bright and shining. His Father’s will appeared to be his! All was condescension, peace, and love!”
Ultimately, all of these issues paint a picture, right? The character flaws and mistranslations of Joseph Smith, along with the setting in which he was raised all take away from his prophetic ability. There are more issues that I haven’t even touched on. LGBT issues, the treatment of women, the kinderhook plates, etc. There are more issues touched on in the CES Letter. But, these are things that stick in my mind when I try to imagine believing the Church is true again.
I believe Joseph Smith started writing the Book of Mormon to make money. Then, when it got close to publishing, he decided to start a religion. With the help of Sidney Rigdon, the Church grew and he introduced different aspects of "the Restoration" and eventually the power went to his head.
Being "prophet" brought him three things key for cult leaders. Money. Sex. Power. He got his living taken care of and people built him a house. He had around 40 polygamous wives and preyed on underage girls. He was dubbed king of the world by the Council of the 50 and was Mayor of Nauvoo.
How can I conclude anything other than him being a cult leader? This barely even touches on Brigham and the subsequent prophets that made huge mistakes.

2023.06.09 22:55 fitterniti TheRiseofSkywalker Rewrite

TL;DR: Should be titled rewriting the whole new trilogy. Basically felt I could do a better narrative job of the trilogy after watching a few in depth critiques on YouTube. Focus was on doing justice to new characters while giving. Epic send-offs to Legacy characters. With a healthy dose of action and wtf moments sprinkled in.
Huge Star Wars Fan as that's one of my fondest memories of my late Grandfather. That and Godzilla. We never missed a showing of any of the films. I wish he were here to watch the new trilogy with me but given how disjointed and incoherent the new films turned out to be, I'm glad he's happy in heaven. Anyhoo. Honestly, I don't think we need to even rewrite these movies too much because they had all the ingredients to begin with. However, here's my painstakingly thought out Re-Write. This took a good part of two hours to write folks. Off the top of my head on a Friday midnight with bare minimum effort. I cannot fathom how a billion dollar studio couldn't afford writers who did not even understand basic setup and payoff, consequences to actions and building suspense and grand setpieces. What an incredibly wasted opportunity. Let me know what you think of my re-write of the plot. Aight. I'm a go cool off my aching fingers in some ice now while you peruse my rambling poorly structured sentences. 😂
PART ONE: This remains largely the same. But Rey and Finn fall hard for each other eventually. Kylo is split between the dark and light and genuinely believes the Jedi were the ones in the wrong and wants to bring about balance by destroying both the Jedi and the Sith. Snoke is a major influence. Let him be present and not just a shadow. Good vs Evil yada yada. Kylo hesitates on the bridge scene with Han but something flashes in his mind and makes him grasp a Ruby bracelet on his wrist. Memories of a past he had suppressed. Han notices the turmoil in his son and says "Ben. . ". As he reaches out to embrace his son, the turbulent memories trigger the saber to ignite, killing Han Solo. Kylo accepts his journey to the darkness and gets shot by Chewie. Rey and Kylo stand-off near the end. Except Rey doesn't nearly win. Finn loses a leg or arm in his blinded rage for Kylo killing Han Solo. Kylo is freakishly strong. Rey and Finn are saved by the skin of their teeth as Poe saves their asses instead of some natural calamity. This cements their friendship further. Luke's history is detailed. How he retired. Blah blah. Rey then goes and finds Luke. The end. Oh and btw, Finn has a better relationship with Poe and deeper bond with Han Solo while Rey gravitates intensely towards Leia and is good friends with Poe (but only after Poe's skepticism that she can be a Jedi fades near the end of the plot) This will have a solid pay off later.
PART TWO: Luke begrudgingly allows Rey into his personal space. He also doesn't chuck the light saber but takes it back to his hut and begins to dismantle it. Rey fights him and in the tussle he breaks down and confesses about why he quit. The Jedi had to make a terrible choice in the past. To save younglings and mother's in a distant home base or protect the few hundred fighters they had remaining. The Jedi are left in this tough spot when facing the tyranny of the new order - something they presumed was a remnant of the Emperor's reign but in reality, was a slowly rising menace new to this time in the galaxy. Stuck in between a rock and a hard place, they chose wisely not emotionally. Which is what the Jedi are. They're pragmatic. Not the heroes. Kylo was a Jedi master at this time and not a trainee. He couldn't stand by the orders of the Jedi as his friends and padawans were being mercilessly slaughtered. They saved the future but at the cost of the present. Cue heart wrenching scenes of Kylo disobeying the Jedi, breaking off to save the kids etc., while the Jedi stand their ground defending the military locations. Luke chases after Kylo after feeling that the threat has been handled. He reaches the home base to find a Kylo kneeling in the ruins, ashen remains of younglings around and his padawan in his arms. Luke approaches Kylo as he's giving a monologue about how they had to make the tough choice and Kylo is seething in rage. He crushes the bones of the ashen body, his sadness turning to anger while the Ruby bracelet his padawan used to wear is left behind as the only memory of his closest friend in his hands. He blames the Jedi for this tragedy, calls them monsters and as Luke tries to stop him, a battle ensues between them with Luke almost killing him. This cements both of their positions. Luke, withdrawn and head held down, apologizes to Kylo and tells him that he hopes he understands someday. That great sacrifices are needed sometimes. And that you cannot always save Everyone. In fact. It's only the sith that think along those lines. Luke retires. Realising that this time, they've gone too far. The Jedi have paid a price that cannot be justified in the name of the greater good. He quits and exiles himself while Kylo, seeking answers from the dark side is eventually led to Snoke. Po and Finn (with his new arm/leg) go on more buddy adventures replacing the whole Rose animal saving arc. Snoke wants Rey really bad so we keep that arc and Kylo boards Leia's ship instead of flying around to capture Rey and bring her in. Po and Finn aren't on board so it's free game for Kylo. A standoff ensues with a big fight which ends with Kylo raging about and losing control of his force powers. Blowing everyone in the room out into space. . the shields come on but not fully and Rey is stuck near the edge holding on to Leia with her dear life stopping her from flying off into space. Kylo is climbing up towards Rey and about to put the restraints to capture her. That's when he notices Leia and she looks him in the eyes. She let's go to Rey's horror and as Kylo strikes down in anguish, Rey dodges but he's too fast and slaps on the restraints. Kylo immediately jumps through into space after his mom while calling in ships to rescue them and bring Rey in. Cue scene like the Guardians of the Galaxy Part Two where Quill fails to save Yondu at the end. Leia uses her hidden force powers: NOT to shield herself and Marry Poppins her way into the ship. But to save her beloved son, despite everything. Kylo sheds tears breaking down as he holds his mother, feeling her last breaths through the force. He mutters "Not you. . Not you too". . She whispers "There's still some good in you. . And I see it in her too. . Ben. . Save her, she's . ... .." . . Silence. . as Leia's hand freezes while caressing Kylo's face and she dies. Kylo gets saved by the troopers and they depart to Snoke's lair, letting Leia's body float away into the deep dark nothingness of space. Entombed forever. Rey is tortured by a Kylo who is slowly losing his cool but she resists and puts up a force fight against his mind. Both end up in Snoke's room and the SAME shenanigans ensue. Snoke senses the confusion in Kylo and goes about treating him like a child. Snoke CHIDING Kylo and punishing him now makes more sense. While Rey tries her best to be the good guy and take on Snoke to only be mocked and thrown about. Snoke starts killing the resistance ships in space one by one. His minions have also captured a few of the rebels and brings them to knee in front of them - shock and awe as part of the folks kneeling are Finn and Poe. Here comes a major change and I feel Oscar Isaac would personally love this one. Poe gets a brutal ass fucking death with limb dismemberment etc. while everyone else tries to stop it but gets fucked up by Snoke and his incredible powers. Similar to that Negan scene from The Walking Dead and also makes more sense here as Poe's death in Part One as per Disney's initial plans would've been pointless (insufficient character growth to justify a meaningful death) Even Kylo is not cool with this and tries to intervene because this is too violent and too much but gets ragdolled like a bitch. Snoke even claims that HE was the one who put that distractiom in Kylo's memory, making him pull the trigger on the saber that killed Han. He gave Kylo the perfect memory at the perfect time to give him that one push over the edge. He influenced Kylo's rage, blinding him and making him take his own father's life. Snoke jeers and Kylo and Rey, claiming they're far more pathetic than he thought and they're unworthy of his teachings and presence. Poe is almost done for but being the badass that he is, musters what little strength he has to wink to Rey as she force pushes the blaster into his hands. Born out of pure fucking desperation to save his friends, Poe focuses his last ounce of strength and shoots Snoke straight in the face, blinding him in one eye. Buying just enough time for both Kylo and Rey to reach for the sabers, however, Rey gets hers first and absolutely wrecks Snoke as Finn rushes to Poe Dameron, holding him as he breathes his last. Kylo fends off an entire room of the Red guys 1v6. Rey vs Snoke is going on. Rey taps into the dark side. Juices up. Chops up Snoke and blows him up and as he's dying she still keeps going apeshit on him while Kylo has to step in and restrain her. Even he has a difficult time but manages to reign her in. Snoke dies. So does Poe. Kylo apologizes, saying this isn't how he envisioned things. As he's about to walk off, a sinister voice rises from the darkness beyond Snoke's corpse. Laughter echoing in the chambers as Snoke's remains, a lifelesss mangled corpse floats into the air with electricity arcing from his fingers and eyes. . And the ICONIC DIALOGUE is whispered in a booming growl "Your feeble skills are no match for the power of the dark side". . It's fucking Palpatine as a floaty ghosty mother frocker, grinning from ear to ear while Snoke's corpse collapses to the floor and this OMINOUS DEATH looking bastard rises into full frame. . movie ends. . Cut to black 🙄 Palpatine was the one controlling Snoke all along and he somehow survived the atomization and explosions. However, at least here, he is in Ethereal form and not Corporeal so it's easier to digest the fact that a Sith so fricking hungry with immortality and power would manage to continue his existence. . somehow. It's palatable. It's also palpable. It's also. . Wait for it. . Palpa-TINE. . Badum Dish. . Drumroll please. . I got puns for days 🤣
PART THREE: Movie starts off like The Two Towers. Zooming shots throughout Snoke's Palace while the sound bytes of the Part Two's climax play through with camera panning into the Throne room as the final moments of Part two play out all over again. Sheer panic and dread has set in. Poe is gone. Snoke is but a puppet in the true sense. Emperor looms over Rey, Finn and a befuddled Kylo who's now questioning everything he ever fought for. Emperor plays with them like they're little ants, frying them, flinging them and ripping off Finn's fake (arm/leg). He's toying with them and torturing them. And just as he's about to do finish them, the massive ass heavy doors to the throne room are flung apart like paper. Standing in the corridor backlit by green is a cloaked figure that whispers "I thought I threw you into the abyss". . As the lightsaber ignites in Glorious Green and the green light cascades onto an incredibly PISSSED OFF Luke Skywalker. "It can't be. You were in exile!" mutters a grumpy Emperor. A ridiculously immense "feat of strength" battle ensues similar to that of Dumbledore vs Voldemort. Both parties pulling out force powers out of their ass in magnitudes that are ripping the ships internals to shreds and endangering everyone else. It becomes a stalemate and they escape with their lives. And now, the "Somehow Palpatine returned" dialogue makes sense, especially when it comes from LUKE's mouth and not frickin Meriadoc Brandybuck. Luke explains to everyone else how Palpatine was an ancient evil he once fought and destroyed with his father Anakin. Everyone's shitting bricks because the Emperor clearly never died in the true sense of the word and has remained busy in the shadows as Snoke, rebuilding his empire, pulling all the strings. That's also WHY EVERYTHING LOOKS AND FEELS THE SAME WITH THE VILLAINS. MOTIFS, VEHICLES, DEATH STARS. BECAUSE ITS THE SAME BAD GUY ALL ALONG. 😅 Cue a final desperate adventure where Kylo comes to terms with his failures and how he was being misled all along. Sombre scene between him and Luke. He tells Luke "I don't know what to do. I cannot seek forgiveness. I allowed all this to happen. So many lives. I thought I was doing this for the greater good. For the balance. I knew there would be no coming back from this for me. But others could thrive in a new world". . Luke replies.."The greater good. Some of the worst things in the world were started with the best intentions. The Jedi were noble but they were also human. .and flawed.".... ... "All those lives I've taken .. " says an absolutely shattered Kylo Ren.. ..Luke replies. . "Lives that can never be brought back. But you can pay for theirs with the life you own now..We can put an end to it. It's not too late to see it through to the end. .".. ..Luke locks eyes with Kylo "Your mother and father loved you more than anything Ben. As do I". . Luke also tells Ben about how his grandfather, Darth Vader chose to be a father in the end and helped destroy the Emperor, eventually dying as Anakin Skywalker instead. This can lead to the scene where Ben breaks the Darth Vader helmet memento to bits and sheds his own helmet too. Tearjerker scene can follow where Ben Solo has a Skype call with mom and dad force ghosts who also give a cryptic message that he should talk to Luke because Luke has something incredibly important to tell him) - instead of the dumb scene with Han where he's a "memory"?. . Self forgiveness FTW? 😅 Rey comes to terms with Luke's warning about giving in to the dark side and TRAINS HARDER while Finn baby takes over Poe's mantle and fills in the Ace Pilot spot, wearing Poe Dameron's jacket and colors. Macguffin adventure with Luke Skywalker ensues.
THE GRAND FINALE. Finn leads the way to fight in space and stop the death destroyers. Rey, Ben and Luke go to the ground game to finish the emperor, once and for all. While enroute, Luke sits the kids down and tells them why The Emperor wanted both of them and their powers. They're brother and sister, born as a dyad, a strong bond in the force that was so United, it posed a threat to the fabric of the force itself. This happens once every few generations and they had to separate them during childhood once they figured out that Snoke had sent assassins to capture them. This also makes INCREDIBLE SENSE as to why Han and Leia could not be seen together and why Rey had been hidden away on a desert planet somewhere. Rey's parent is a LITERAL SKYWALKER. Someone she's been talking to all this time and only now finds out that it's her actual mom. Fuck me in the heartstrings. They both break down, mend their differences and get ready for the final fight. The Emperor has grown way stronger. The battle does not go easy. Ben's own soldiers, the Knights of Ren are a menace and nearly bring both Rey and Kylo to their knees. Except. Kylo calms himself down and in a moment of PURE CHEER WORTHY AWESOMENESS, he focuses himself to the point where his SPUTTERING LIGHT SABER BECOMES SOLID STATE LIGHT. A true saber but in all of its red glory. The brother sister duo tap into the force and start fighting together, blending their styles instead of doing their own thing while Luke faces off against the Emperor again. The knights are finished eventually but Luke is not winning at all. The Emperor uses some cheap tricks and tries to one shot Kylo and Rey but Luke gets in front of them taking the full brunt of the hit. As Luke is unable to stop the massive force lighting and starts to disintegrate, he looks back at his niece and nephew, smiles and tells them to look into the force, "You will always find us there". . Luke disappears, the Emperor falters, and his force lightning fades for a brief second. And that's all the siblings needed to make full use of Luke Skywalker's noble sacrifice. They attack with everything they have, exchange banter in between and just as the Emperor launches another Salvo of Force Lightning saying "I am ALL the Sith", Ben and Rey cross their sabers together and block the lightning. While they struggle to keep the lightning at bay, all of the force ghosts appear together as a result of the Dyad fusion, supporting them from behind. The force ghosts light sabers materialise into reality and the duo join them to their own sabers and reflect the lightning back to the Emperor, while saying this quote in return "And we are ALL THE JEDI". Emperor destroyed for good now 😤 . . SOMEHOW. . NO. NO SOMEHOW. HE'S DEAD FOR GOOD.
No awkward, out of the blue cringe fucking kiss scene like between Ron & Hermione after killing the Basilisk. All those ReyLo fans can weep in a dustbin. And the Dyad now makes sense. Every legacy character's death makes sense and has meaning. Each death also is in sequence. Han goes first. Leia follows. And Luke is the last to kick the bucket. Emperor's comeback also makes sense. Somewhat. The ending makes even more sense. Kylo (Ben). Rey. Finn. Reunited. They re-build the Resistance. And also teach a new philosophy of Balanced approach. Neither giving in to the dark side. Nor being blinded only by the light side. A new way forward. Led by the Skywalker genes through the combination of an Organa and a Solo in a new temple. Finn and Rey profess love for one another. And the last scene is her burying the force ghost's sabers in the ground until they're needed.
Years pass. Dry af desert planet. Rey and Finn are building their home. Random ass desert camel lady passes by asking "I've not seen you around here". . Rey replies "We're new here", as she looks down at her pregnant tummy and Finn working on their home in the distance. "What's your name, my dear?" asks the dry as a stick camel lady. . "Rey. . " comes a quick reply . . "Rey who?" Asks the annoying dust bag old lady. . "Rey Organa" . . Says Rey in a contemplative low voice. . Taking a look back at Finn, she smiles and says with a slight tremble . . "and that's my husband, Finn Solo".. "Rey Organa and Finn Solo, from the Skywalker Clan" . . Says Rey with Utmost confidence now in her voice.. The screen fades to black on a sunkissed Rey's face as she is now looking into the future, sure of the legacy she wants to carry ahead.

2023.06.09 22:44 PlayfulFace8547 6 Gram golden teacher (it's ok)

I took 6 grams of golden teachers around 12:35. I also hit a couple dabs and this was the first time I mixed weed and psilocybin. I didn't start to feel anything until around 1:15 since the room was dark and I was on my laptop. Once I did feel them it hit like a truck, or more like a bomb. I turned the light on and my perception of objects were fucked and I had that superhuman shroom strength and everything felt dilated as if I was in a different spot of the room then I thought. I looked in my bathroom mirror and did tweaker stuff but I noticed I could see my tongue with little taste buds and I could see my hair follicles. When they say creativity is vivid on shrooms it fucking is, I was seeing indescribable shit like dicks flowing out of the mouths of my grandpa doing a weird bojack horseman pose. It sounds weird but I was having weird auditory hallucinations. I was hearing rave like edm music coming from my laptop which was turned off and i could hear music as if it was real but I knew it wasn't. I also remember doing these same weird things which were winking on my right eye, blinking while my eyes were closed, tapping my fingers, and raising eyebrows. These things happen a lot on higher doses of psychedelics for me and it's as if they were just programmed to happen on higher doses. My big revelation during this trip was, we are just a ball of energy that is conscious and this body is the temporary home of our energy. Were all gonna die some more sooner than others but that's ok because their consciousness is there. I also felt like an animal not so much a human I felt like a bear.

2023.06.09 22:43 JoshAsdvgi THE SACRED PIPE OF THE T'SALAGI

THE SACRED PIPE OF THE T'SALAGI

THE SACRED PIPE OF THE T'SALAGI

Most all Nations have stories about the 'Sacred Pipe'.
What many people refer to it as The Peace Pipe.
Which is an incorrect Hollywood thought shown in the old west movies and cartoons.
The Sacred Pipe is to the Native Americans as the cross is to Christian cultures.

The pipe, in one form or another, has come to most cultures around the world.
Every group has used the pipe in one way or another and has stories of how they came to have it.
The Lakota tell the story of the White Buffalo woman and how she first brought the pipe to them.
Just as the T'salagi have this story.

It is not important how the pipe first arrived.
Or who it came to first as all nations see themselves as the first to have this gift from creator.
What is important is that the pipe is revered as a sacred item and also important is that it did come from The Creator.
What is most important is that pipe was brought to all men of this world, for we all must share this world......

Long ago, but not long after the world was new, a tribe of red skinned people came to live on the lands which are around The Blue Smoke Mountains.
At this time, the animals of the world still talked to men and taught them how to live on and care for the land.
These people were called "Ani Yun Wiya" or the One True People.
In this tribe lived a brave warrior woman.
She was called 'Arrow Woman'.
Arrow Woman was taught to use the bow, the spear and the knife.
Even though it was a man's job to hunt and fight,
Arrow Woman could shoot straighter with the bow than any man, she could throw the knife so as split a branch no bigger than your thumb and she could throw the spear into eye of a hawk in flight.
Because of all this, no man would tell her to be like a woman.
One day while on a hunt,
Arrow Woman came upon the tracks of Yona the bear.
She saw blood on the ground and knew him to be wounded so she followed his tracks.
High into the mountains she followed.
Soon she came to a place that she did not know.
It was in this place, a place known only to the animals that she finally saw Yona the bear.
He had a deep cut in his side and she saw him bowing down in prayer.
She saw him bowing toward a large field of tall grass and speaking words that she had not heard before.
Suddenly, the grass shimmered and became a lake.
Arrow Woman saw Yona dive into the water.
After a time he emerged from the water, his side was completely healed.
Yona then saw Arrow Woman and walked to her.
Yona told her, "this is the sacred lake of the animals.
It is called, 'Atagahi' and it's location is known only to the animals.
It is where we come for healing and strength.
You are the first human creature to see the sacred lake.
You must never tell your kind of it's location for it is the home of 'The Great Uktena'.
With these words Yona the Bear turned and walked into the woods and disappeared.
Arrow Woman was tired after following Yona all day so she decided to rest a while by this lake.
She built a small fire and sat down to eat a meal that she had brought with her.
She took a drink of the water from the lake and felt instantly refreshed.
She was amazed, she felt strong as Yan'si the Buffalo.
She felt as if she run faster than Coga the Raven could fly.
The woods were quiet, Unole the wind was sleeping, Nvda the sun was shining bright but was not hot, the surface of the lake was completely calm, Arrow Woman began to get sleepy.
It was at this time that she saw 'Uktena', she had been told of him when she was a child but no one in her tribe ever claimed to have seen him.
High above the water he raised his great serpent's head, the jewel in his forehead glistening.
He began to move toward her.
Arrow Woman grabbed up her spear and stood up to face the great creature coming to her, standing proud, showing no fear, the way any warrior should.
She raised her spear and prepared to strike the huge beast.
Uktena stopped a short distance from her.
He smiled, his mouth was larger than a man was tall and full of teeth longer than man's forearm.
He spoke to the brave woman on the bank of his lake.
To her he said, "Put down your weapons for I mean you no harm.
I come only to teach." Arrow Woman laid down her spear and began to relax, somehow knowing Uktena spoke truly.
Uktena told her to sit and to listen.
Uktena dipped his head below the surface and came back up a moment later.
In his mouth he had a strangely crooked stick and a leather pouch.
These things he laid on the ground in front of Arrow Woman.
Then the Great Uktena began to teach.
He said,"This that I have laid before you is the Sacred Pipe of The Creator."
He then told her to pick up the pipe.
"The bowl is of the same red clay The Creator used to make your kind.
The red clay is Woman kind and is from the Earth.
Just as a woman bears the children and brings forth life, the bowl bears the sacred tobacco (tsula) and brings forth smoke.
The stem is Man.
Rigid and strong the stem is from the plant kingdom and like a man it supports the bowl just as man supports his family."

Uktena then showed Arrow Woman how to join the bowl to the stem saying, "
Just as a man and a woman remain separate until joined in marriage so too are the bowl and stem separate.
Never to be joined unless the pipe is used."
Uktena then showed her how place the sacred tsula into the pipe and with an ember from the fire lit the tsula so it burned slightly.
He told her this, "The smoke is the breath of The Creator, When you draw the smoke into your body, you will be cleansed and made whole.
When the smoke leaves your mouth, it will rise to The Creator. Your prayers, your dreams, your hopes and desires will be taken to Him in the smoke.
Also the truth in your soul will be shown to Him when you smoke the pipe.
If you are not true, do not smoke the pipe.
If your spirit is bad and you seek to deceive, do not smoke the pipe."

Uktena continued his lesson well into the night teaching Arrow Woman all of the prayers used with the pipe and all of the reasons for using the pipe.
He finished just as the moon was beginning her nightly journey across the sky in search of her true love.
He told Arrow Woman to wrap the pipe in cloth, keeping the parts separate.
With this done He told her that she would never again be able to find this place but to remember all that she had learned. Uktena then returned to depths of the lake.
Arrow Woman saw the water shimmer and become again the field of grass.
She left, taking with her the pipe and her lessons and a wondrous tale.

Ever since that time,
The Ani Yun Wiya have used the sacred pipe and never again has any man seen the sacred lake of Uktena.
The pipe is not a symbol of things that are sacred.
The pipe itself is sacred.
Not everyone is called upon to be a pipe bearer.
The person who carries the pipe and practices the pipe ceremonies and traditions has a great responsibility to his brothers and sisters, his land and country and even to the Earth Mother.
The pipe bearer does not 'own' the pipe he carries.
He simply carries the pipe until the time comes for him to pass it to the next bearer.
The pipe bearer is given certain powers of sight from the pipe as well as an ability to heal and purify.
Should the bearer fall from grace and become a liar, thief, neglected his duties when asked, or become deceitful, the pipe would repossess these gifts and then the possibility of misfortune for the former bearer may exist.
One should be ready to accept the responsibility of the pipe for it may make demands upon you.
It will become your teacher and guide. It can also be your worst enemy if used wrongly. I leave it to you to decide if these words are truly said.

This is the way that I have learned.

2023.06.09 22:43 slimygirls I have no style at all and would love help

So basically I'm MTF and have been on hormones for a year. I get the vast majority of my clothes from thrift stores because they are cheap and generally just choose stuff at random lmao.
I would really like a casual style that actually looks good and feminine and flatters my figure. Right now I just wear a baggy t-shirt/sweater and jeans and it's just really boring and sad.
If it helps, there are pictures of me in a recent post so u can better understand how I look. This would be important to see which colors I should generally look for and which styles compliment my body best.
For reference, here is some info about me. - I am 19 yrs old - I am quite tall, 5'9"~5'10" - I am thin, 120-125 lbs. I worry with this weight I would look bad in tight clothes. - My bust isn't very large, only around 33" and B-cup. - My shoulder width is around 17", so pretty broad - I have a thin waist (26"). In general pants of women's sizes 2-4 fit the best.
Finding tops for me is a struggle. They tend to be too wide and not long enough. For instance one might cover my torso but not have sleeves long enough or in general something is off with most women's shirts
I like bold and unique designs, maybe not too unique to be super weird but definitely enough to stand out a bit. I also would prefer things that obscure my shoulders a bit.
If you know of anything that may fit my criteria, let me know. Don't be afraid to ask more questions if you need more context. Thank you :)

{THIS CHAPTER CONTAINS THE FOLLOWING: Existential dread, emotional moments, romance, and a singular phrase which could be seen as suggestive depending on how dirty your mind is. ;) }

Thank you to u/SpacePaladin15 for creating this wonderful literary universe!

“Umm. Sooo, isn’t the universe only around 14 billion years old?”
“You would be correct.” The scientist’s expression showed that he was as dumbfounded as I was. “I should add that the highest number that any of our new dating devices can go is to around 20 billion, it is entirely possible that the artifact could be even older than we can detect.”
[What the fuck.]
A shrill voice from my left shook me out of my stupor. I looked to my side to see Lemva standing out of her seat, her tail lashing angrily. “Is this some elaborate joke? That isn’t possible. What you’re saying isn’t possible.” President Zhao began to speak. “I am fully aware how frankly nonsensical this is sounding, but this is serious and we need to approach this with an open mind. The Federation rated this item as a danger to the entire galaxy for a reason. We have no idea what we’re dealing with here and with something that could pose this much danger that is not acceptable.” Lemva suddenly spat with a ferocity I haven’t heard in a long time. Her anger frightened me not just because of her abnormal behavior and proximity, but also because of the recipient of her anger.
“You are aware that what you’re saying undermines everything we know about existence, right? Are you aware of that? Do you have any idea how INSANE this is sounding? You’re telling us, US, a couple of unqualified nobody misfit historians, that we’re somehow prophesied by this magical indestructible artifact that existed before time to do… something? AND YOU DON’T EVEN KNOW WHAT THAT SOMETHING IS?! You just expect us to take this sitting down? Uh-uh, no, I’m not accepting this.” I tapped the table gently to get her attention, she snapped one of her orange eyes at me in response, I could barely get out what I was going to say in fear of her. “Maybe we shouldn’t yell at President Zhao?” I squeaked my suggestion at her. She just smoldered at me.
Lemva quickly pushed her chair backward and power-walked through the doors of the conference room, the force from her slamming the door rattled its hinges. I sometimes forget how strong she is, perks of evolving on such a high gravity planet I suppose. I glance at my remaining two partners and they are just as shaken as me. We all slowly look back at Zhao in fear of his response to Lemva’s attitude. Zhao still looked calm, so that’s good, but his posture indicated exhaustion.
“You three can leave for now, I’ll schedule another meeting for tomorrow once she’s settled down. If you could talk to her, that would be greatly appreciated.” Zhao started to rise from his seat but paused momentarily. “Oh I forgot to mention, you’ve been granted access to the guest residence wing. Lars, hand them their cards please.” A large man walked around and passed us our cards, handing me a second one presumably for Lemva. “The suite’s code on the tram is S29. You’re dismissed.”
Cayek, Tassak, and I quickly hurried out of the room to catch up with the furious venlil. Thankfully she hadn’t gone far, and was just waiting at the tram. We approached her quietly, none of us having the courage to start a conversation. She barely acknowledged us as we drew closer. I steeled myself to initiate contact but to my surprise she decided to do it first. “We’re leaving. Fuck this, they expect us to just accept that everything we know is wrong? They can take their invitations and shove them up their asses.” I gathered the courage to respond to her.
“I’ve never seen you this angry before. Talk to me.” She sighed, seeming to deflate as she did. Most of her anger melted off of her and left defeat in its place. “I need some time, I don’t have the energy right now.” “Alright, that’s ok. Before we left the conference room, we were handed keycards to the suite. Zhao said that we could stay there for a while.
Lemva looked up at my face with an eye. The happy glint she usually carried in her eyes was replaced with a dull feeling of hopelessness. “Okay.” I gently placed a hand on her shoulder. She answered my request to hug her before I had even asked. She buried the side of her head into my chest. We sat there for a few seconds, and it felt good, but all good things had to come to an end eventually. I silently guided her into the tram, Cayek and Tassak following close behind. The doors closed and I typed in the code for our suite, S29. The tram took off and winded through a maze of hidden tunnels before arriving at our destination.
Exiting the tram, we came to a closed set of heavy fake wooden doors with a keycard reader to the side. I swiped my card and the hidden locks on the doors clicked several times, before the doors swung open. [Wow. This is a really nice room.]
I guided Lemva onto a nearby sofa and marched into the gargantuan kitchen provided to us in order to prepare some coffee for her. As I waited for the coffee machine to finish, I saw Cayek and Tassak exploring their new surroundings. Cayek walked around and admired the luxurious artistry that permeated the space, while Tassak… Tassak poked at various objects as if she had never seen them before. She reminded me of a curious child. She accidentally tore a hole in a chair with her claw before hastily trying to hide the damage with a very obviously out of place pillow.
The coffee machine sputtered the last few drops of liquid ambrosia into Lemva’s mug and I hurried over to where she was sitting. I placed the warm cup into her paws and sat beside her. For several minutes we watched some TV on the large screen across from us. Lemva leaned more into my shoulder the longer we sat there. Tassak and Cayek had gone to their rooms by now. After watching 8 episodes of the ninety-seventh season of The Simpsons, she had calmed down.
I looked down at her. “Are you ready to talk now?” She nodded. “Mhm.” “Ok, do you wanna tell me why you got so angry during the conference?” She frowned slightly. “Everything they were saying… the artifact, I just…” She stopped for a moment to gather her words. “If what they said was true, and the artifact is from before the universe, and it depicts us… that implies so much. If what they said is true, then whoever made the artifact could see the future. If they could see the future, that means fate exists. If fate exists, then that means that everything I’ve ever done, everything that we’ve ever done, was meaningless. I mean, all my struggles, all my successes, for no reason.” She looked up at me and I could tell she could see my confusion.
“If you were playing a game, and every action you took did absolutely nothing to change the end result, but the whole time you thought that they did, wouldn’t it hurt to realize in the middle of a round that your input is entirely meaningless and changes nothing? But then, if you look at it another way, there’s the idea that you’re not even really alive, that you’re just a machine going through the motions. The idea that everything you were, are, and will be, every action you take, every thought you think, every emotion you feel is just a set of directions and ideas set to play out for the rest of eternity, that you’re just a couple words on a page to be read…”
I had no idea how to respond to that. I was never all too good at imagining such high-brow philosophical concepts, and I’ve always been even worse at handling the emotions of others, so wrap the two up into a depressing little veggie wrap and you’ve got me stumped. I did the only thing I could think to do at that moment. I wrapped my arms around her and placed my chin on her forehead. She snuggled into my body. I hadn’t felt this much comfort for a long, long time.
“Y’know… after I dropped contact those few years ago, I always wanted to send you a message, tell you I miss you, tell you why I stopped contacting, those sorts of things. But I never did. Because I was afraid.” I lifted my chin off Lemva’s head and she looked up at my face. I stared down back at her. “What were you afraid of?” She asked me in a soft voice. “Lots of things. I was afraid of explaining what happened, the “incident” was too recent to talk about. I was afraid that you’d hate me for disappearing, and the fear only got worse the longer time went. But mostly…” I inhaled sharply as I prepared myself. “I was afraid you’d betray me.” Lemva’s eyes held a puzzled and pained expression.
“I didn’t tell you who killed my parents, only that someone did. Soon after I was born, my father went into the venlil exchange program and met a venlil named Draton. They became friends almost immediately, or at least, Draton pretended to become friends.” Malice filled my voice as I talked about the scum who murdered my family. “I loved him growing up, almost as much as my parents, for a while he was like, my third favorite person in the world. He was like an uncle to me and a sibling to my parents.” I gulped and looked away. “Hopefully it should be obvious what I’m saying he did.” I took a shuddering breath and looked deep into Lemva’s eyes. “I was terrified that another loved one would turn out to be a monster. I was terrified that you would turn out to be a monster.”
I closed my eyes and mustered all the courage I could manage and called upon every deity from every religion I could remember or had even heard of in passing. I opened my eyes and placed my hands gently on the sides of Lemva’s head. She didn’t resist. “Alright… this is my greatest secret yet. I’ve been so scared to tell you but I can’t keep holding it in anymore, I need you to know.” Lemva held her breath.
“I love you Lemva, I’ve loved you since we first hung out in history club, I loved you when you cheered and hopped around at our graduation, I loved you when you talked so enthusiastically about your job. I always have, and I always will, love you.” I could feel my face burning as blood rushed through my cheeks. Lemva had it even worse though, her face was more orange than the fruit the color was named after. Her eyes were so wide I could barely see her irises anymore.
Tears formed in her eyes, but I could tell right away that these weren’t tears of sadness. The goofiest and cutest smile I had ever seen in my life quickly formed on her little face. She squeaked at me in delight. “You have no idea how long I’ve been waiting to hear you say that.” She reached up, grabbed my hands, and squeezed them tight. I could feel her tail wrap around my back, a gentle force guided me closer to her. “You sure you wanna do this?”
“I’ve been around humans all my life, I know what a kiss is, dummy.” She whispered amusedly. We closed our eyes and embraced for the first time. All my worries, fears, and doubts melted away and drained off of my mind like meltwater off a cliff as we sat there basking in each other’s warmth.
We separated our faces and stared at each other. The happy glint in her beautiful orange eyes had returned brighter than I had ever seen it before. We sat staring for what seemed like forever, I had forgotten that a world existed beyond this sofa. I looked up at an antique clock mounted on the wall and waited a moment as my implant translated the extraterrestrial time-keeping system into a familiar 12-hour format. 8PM. Almost as if in response to my realization of the time, a wave of exhaustion crashed into me like a rogue space freighter. I wanted so desperately to stay here cuddled with Lemva for the rest of my life, but alas, sleep deprivation is a cruel mistress.
“Lem, it’s 8pm, we gotta get some sleep if we’re gonna attend the conference tomorrow.” “Awww, a couple more minutes? Pleeeeeeeease?” “I know this is really comfy and I know you don’t wanna think about ‘the object’ but we’ve got to do it.” I could tell she was still uncomfortable thinking about the implication that even the mention of the artifact carried with it, and we still would need to talk that through, but for now at least, she wasn’t having an existential crisis.
We untangled ourselves, rose off the sofa, and headed toward our rooms. But Lemva suddenly halted in the middle of the hallway. I spun around to see why she stopped. She looked down at the ground and rubbed her paws together like she does when she’s nervous, her face was an almost neon orange, miraculously managing to be even more vibrant than before. She wore a bashful smile on her face. “Is something wrong?” “no… I was just wondering, could I sleep in your room for tonight?” “Sure. Why, is there something wrong?”
“No… there’s just… something I’ve been wanting to try…”
“Wha- oh.”
Oh.

2023.06.09 22:33 SirGorti There are rumours that during Italy 1933 crash they recovered 7 feet bodies of beings with blond hair and spacious foreheads

I looked deeper into the story of alleged Italy 1933 UFO crash retrieved by Italian military. As some of you probably know, Luis Elizondo once gave credence to this story. On the BlackVault website there is intriguing article written by dr Roberto Pinotti who provided telegram document in which Mussolini did order 'absolute silence is required about an alleged landing on national soil of unknown aircraft'.
On the LiberationTimes there is an article from 2021 written by Christopher Sharp, who is very good source of information about UFO and whistleblowers. Here is what he found:
'Mussolini’s next priority was to study the craft. Italy’s top scientists and engineers were assembled to form a top-secret group, supposedly headed by the celebrated engineer Guglielmo Marconi, inventor of the radio.'
'Initially, no one (including Mussolini) strongly believed the craft was of extraterrestrial origin. The most widely held belief was that it was German. After all, the bodies retrieved had a strong resemblance to Germans, with their blue eyes and blonde hair.'
'Although strongly suspected as German, the Italians always referred to the craft’s origin as ‘unknown’ (as stated in documents), meaning nothing conclusive could ever be proved.'
Story about those bodies in Wright-Patterson base. 'Two bodies allegedly lay on a table. They look like twins. They’re dead and preserved with formaldehyde. The bodies are in bad shape. They look like victims of a bad car accident – but the heads remain intact. But their features trouble a French biologist invited to study the bodies.
'Two males, very tall (around 7ft), long blonde hair, very high and spacious foreheads, clear blue eyes that look somewhat Asiatic, small noses, small mouths, small chins, thin lips, very clear pale skin, but no signs of facial hair. Their hands, although slender are human-like, their toes are small and their feet flat. The story gets weirder. Their skin appears perfectly white but shows no signs of keratin granules, which play an important role in providing natural moisturization for the skin, in addition to UV protection, and water retention. Startlingly, the biologist discovered that their lymphatic systems were dominant and practically replaced the blood system, providing a high degree of protection from any disease.'
'They were not human, at least as we know it. That’s at least how the story goes. There are two accounts of these alleged recovered bodies within Wright-Patterson, which inform this story. The first was from William Brophy, whose father claimed to have seen the bodies when serving as a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Air Force (USAF). Brophy claimed that his father told him the story, among those of other UAP encounters whilst serving in the USAF.'
'The second account is from UAP researcher Leonard Stringfield, who told the story of the French biologist in his 1982 book, named ‘UFO Crash/Retrievals: Amassing the Evidence: Status Report III’. U.S. officials allegedly confirmed to the French biologist that the bodies were not human and were of extraterrestrial origin. After much hesitancy and many years, the biologist decided to tell his story, and his account was picked up by Stringfield.'
Obviously we don't know if that's true or no. However it's worth to mention that those kind of beings were reported during 1954 UFO incident by Jessie Roestenberg and in 1975 by Travis Walton.

2023.06.09 22:32 Comfortable_Card8770 Workflow for complex unusial poses

First you need to catch the pose in Openpose Editor I`m not using ControlNet preprocessor by it`s on cuz it`s ending up with bad result for complex poses
edit what preprocessor miss by dragging then click \"send to txt2img\"
The limitation for this method is that is not capturing fingers and face. But if you need those you can try to combine that with few Units in ControlNet

Now we got our pose inside ControlNet. We don`t need preprocessor since it`s already openpose format image, pick only model. I use Balanced mode but you free to experiment what fits better for your case.
remember: no preprocessor
We could just stop here and generate using only pose. But since the pose is quite complex, end result will be somewhat.
So we need to guide SD little more. Pick up reference image ounce again and send it to next ControlNet Unit.
i found Canny is better but you can test it with Depth/SoftEdge/Normal

Now just generate untill result will be close to what you want
time to play with prompt. describe scene and add what ever you want
Better not to use Hires. fix for this stage. It will takes forever to generate and not improving much because of strong guidace from ControlNet

Now we sending final image to img2img to impove quality and fix details I providing the long screenshot with all settings I use.
prompt + denoise 0.4 and below + Ultimate SD Upscaler + ControlNet tile
I`m also using negative Embendings, totally up to you

When we reached max possible quality for that stage it`s time to fix details. Send img to Inpainting. Paint area to fix, chose Only masked and don`t forget to turn off Ultimate SD Upscaler and ControlNet tile
generate untill ok

And the final step will be sending to extras and upscale image
i prefer this settings for CodeFormers but again - experiment

Here generating info: parameters
woman in coctail dress, taking selfie in the mirror, holding phone in shes head area, (intricate details:0.9), (hdr, hyperdetailed:1.2)
Negative prompt: (worst quality:1.2), (low quality:1.2), ng_deepnegative_v1_75t, bad-hands-5, negative_hand-neg

After many attempts to post this, it seems I need to make a post that has some "content" rather than just a link. The link is at the bottom of this post.
With that in mind the filibuster is as follows:
A filibuster is a political procedure in which one or more members of a legislative body prolong debate on proposed legislation so as to delay or entirely prevent decision. It is sometimes referred to as "talking a bill to death" or "talking out a bill",[1] and is characterized as a form of obstruction in a legislature or other decision-making body.
Etymology The term "filibuster" ultimately derives from the Dutch vrijbuiter ("freebooter", a pillaging and plundering adventurer), but the precise history of the word's borrowing into English is obscure.[2] The Oxford English Dictionary finds its only known use in early modern English in a 1587 book describing "flibutors" who robbed supply convoys.[2] In the late 18th century, the term was re-borrowed into English from its French form flibustier, a form that was used until the mid-19th century.
The modern English form "filibuster" was borrowed in the early 1850s from the Spanish filibustero (lawless plunderer). The term was applied to private military adventurers like William Walker who were then attacking and pillaging Spanish colonies in Central America.[2] Spain lost all its Central American territory in 1821.[3] Over the course of the mid to late 19th century, the term "filibustering" became common in American English in the sense of "obstructing progress in a legislative assembly".[2]
