I know the title sounds bad but I don’t think i’m in the wrong here. My (F15) boyfriend (M15) wanted to sleepover at his friends (F16) house. Normally i’m alright with him hanging out with girls but this made me extremely uncomfortable. Let’s call him Brandon and her Emily. Now i don’t know anything about Emily. I don’t even know her name. All i know is he has been friends with her sense he moved here 2 years ago. This all started last night when I was busy for about 2 hours and I told Brandon this. After i was done I received a snap from him that he was drinking. I brushed it off and didn’t really care. Then he brings up Emily. I’m totally fine with him being friends with girls. Then Brandon told me he was sleeping over at Emily’s house. I flipped. I didn’t say anything for a bit but i was crying hysterically in my room. I started talking to my friends about this and they told me that Brandon is in the wrong and I need to break up with him. I don’t want to breakup with him. So i tell him how I feel. So this past weekend I (F21) threw a party for two of my friends birthdays, I hosted it with my sister (f18) at our house and had all of our close friends there (we’re all between 18-22 in Canada so all legal) we invited a whole bunch of people and had them all over for games, drinks and a fire.
Our main friend group consists of 7 people and most of them are couples, one of whom are my niece (her dad is my first cousin)(f22) and her long term (7ish years) boyfriend(m22)
My niece went home around midnight because they have a baby and she felt bad leaving him overnight with her mom
I had work at 7:30 the next day so I didn’t go too crazy with the drinks and basically acted like a security guard, keeping people in the yard and cleaning up after people. Around 2:30 I decided I could go get a couple hours of sleep so I told my sister to convince them to leave, keep an eye on everyone, or go party somewhere else and I went to bed.
I was woken up half an hour before my shift by NBF coming into the room I was sleeping in and laying on the bed I was laying on (not weird to us) I got up and left for work as soon as his head hit the pillow.
I got home from work and my sister was sitting at a table outside having a smoke and told me that everyone left, and then she told me, last night NBF hooked up with her friend (f18) in our house and took her virginity, I don’t know if he used protection because before I knew he told me that he was so drunk that night he doesn’t remember going to bed or even me going to sleep for the night a few hours earlier.
Now usually I would stay out of it and say not my circus, not my monkeys but they’ve been on and off together since they were 15, they have a baby together, me and my niece are best friends, and I’m pretty tight with the guy too, she asked me if anything happened after she left and I’m so lucky it was over text cause I felt so bad saying I didn’t know cause I went to bed early. They’re the mom and dad of the group and half of us know so it’s causing a little tension cause I think she knows something happened. Do I tell him I know and tell him to tell her or do I not say anything and hope it doesn’t blow up in my face

Think of them as two different rules approaches to the same basic content. Any mechs, maps, or terrain you buy for one can be used in the other. Lets look at them both in a little more detail to help you understand which one you might want to try out first.

There are books crammed full of exotic equipment and books that detail aspects of the battlefield beyond battlemechs. These books are also beyond the scope of this guide, but if you find yourself at the point of wondering about them, then it's too late. You're a Battletech nerd now.
There are Technical Readouts that give you lore on mechs and equipment, there are era source books, such as Dominion's Divided, the latest as of writing this post. There are scenario books that let you play through pivotal battles in Battletech lore, and there are planet reports that allow you to set your games in specific places around the Inner Sphere.
There's 40 years of content out there. I haven't even touched on the novels! I recommend you start with either Wolves on the Boarder or Lethal Heritage, though lots of people will recommend starting with the Warrior Trilogy or the Gray Death trilogy.

- Pros
- Board Game Like: CBT primarily uses a hex grid, which means placement on the battlefield, ranges, and terrain are all determined by grid space, leaving no room for different interpretations of the rules state. (Note that you can play CBT in a war game style without a hex grid, on a typical war game table with mech scale terrain. Lots of people play exclusively this way.)
- Content: Do you want to build a mercenary unit consisting of a bunch of mechs, tanks, infantry, and a drop ship, then jump into a system, fight your way through an aerospace battle, land on the planet, demolish a city while fighting in an earthquake, march your mechs underwater and battle submarines, then retreat with the salvaged remains of your fallen foes battlemechs? Because you can do all of that, and more, in CBT. It is probably the most feature complete sci-fi war game in existence.
- Detail: Every piece of armor, every component of your mech, every detail of the terrain and environment is simulated in CBT. You can blow a mech's arm off, pick that arm up, smack the enemy mech with it, knock that mech down a hill where it crushes a nearby tank, then lands in the water and its ruptured armor floods, making the mech unable to stand and functionally dead. It's awesome, in the classical definition of that word.
- Cons
- Game Length: Due to all the awesome detail enumerated above, games can take some time. This gets better as you get more experience, but expect your first games of CBT to knock out in about 3 hours.
- Small Scale: Because of the length of games mentioned above, most games are smaller in scale, usually 4v4 mechs. Simulating anything larger become difficult, and will usually have to have a weekend set aside to decide things.

- Pros
- Quick: Expect your first games of AS to take about 2 hours, but once you get the hang of it a 4v4 fight can take 45 minutes or less.
- Scale: Because of its quick game time, AS offers more flexibility in the scale of combat that you want to enjoy. 4v4 works just great, but in my experience most people play AS at the company scale, or 12v12 mechs. This means you see more machines on the battlefield, and the positional game becomes a lot stronger with more pieces to move.
- War Game Like: AS is primarily played on traditional war game terrain, with hills and buildings and forests often crafted by the players to the scale of the mechs. This provides for some beautiful tables, and fantastic flexibility in what your map looks like for each match. (Not that you can play AS on the CBT hex grid with their map sheets as well)
- Cons
- Less Detail: AS slims down the detail level in a lot of areas. It's still a great game, but you're not going to have those crazy fun storytelling moments that the simulation approach of CBT can bring about.
Classic Battletech Beginnings
- Beginner Box: Start here! Two plastic mechs, two maps, rule book, and standees and record sheets for 6 more mechs. Enough to get a taste of the system and see if you want more.
- A Game of Armored Combat Box Set: Eight plastic mechs, four maps, a thicker rule book, and standees and record sheets for additional mechs. If you liked the Beginner Box then this will build on that with some absolute classic mechs that are must haves for any collection.
- Beginner Box: Unfortunately there's no $20 price point AS box yet, but the CBT box will do just as well when paired with...
- Alpha Strike Quick Start Rules: This free PDF details the basic rules of AS and provides several stat cards and standees to print and play with.
- Master Unit List: The MUL is the lifeblood of the Battletech community, but it shines specifically for AS, as you can quickly gather and print stat cards from this resource. Search up any mech here and print out the cards to play with the Quick Start Rules above.
- Alpha Strike Box Set: Thirteen mechs, what a deal! Also contains a handful of tree stands and fold out buildings for some quick terrain, which honestly work way better than you might think. If you enjoyed your AS games, this is a great next step to get a good chunk of plastic fast.
- Battlemech Manual: This well organized rule book is a one stop shop for almost anything related to piloting your battlemech in CBT.
- or
- Total Warfare: The "Core Rulebook" of the CBT world, Total Warfare has rules for running every type of unit available in CBT, such as tanks, battle armor, or aerospace. It's not as concise or user friendly as the Battlemech Manual, but it's the first stop for any tournament rules, so you should pick this up if you want to get competitive quickly.
- Clan Invasion Box Set: A massive turning point in the lore of Battletech as a whole, the Clan Invasion Box Set offers you a nice selection of clan mechs and battle armor with which you can cleanse the inner sphere and conquer Terra!
- Force Packs(there are lots, I just chose a random one for example): These small boxes comes with four to six mechs, depending on which ones you choose, as well as their accompanying AS stat cards. You should absolutely chase your favorite mechs to get on the table as fast as possible. It doesn't matter if it's good, it matters if it's fun!

- Master Unit List: An absolute labor of love, every mechwarrior should know about the MUL. It makes building a force for a specific faction at a specific point in time as simple as clicking some buttons.
- Sarna: The best Battletech wiki this side of Terra, and probably one of the top 10 wikis on the whole internet, Sarna is there when you need to answer a lore question. And it will keep being there an hour later as you are reading about some obscure merc unit that fought in the 4th Succession War.
- Chaos Campaign: This should be your first stop if you want to run any sort of long term game in either CBT or AS. It's free, and gives you a great taste of campaign play without overwhelming you with details.
- Free Record Sheet Downloads: A lot of people miss these, so I'll stash them here. All the box sets and force packs have free record sheets available at the above link.
2023.06.04 17:04 NewMorningSwimmer Mismatched paint "touch ups." Leave as is? Change it (if so, how?)?
We had our tv rec room painted after our basement flooded. The workers painted it the color we wanted. I painted the trim. When I was removing painter's tape it removed some of the wall paint. Since it was a few years later after it was painted, I had a hardware store mix up a small can of the paint color. That was last year I think. I didn't get around to resuming the project until this weekend. I touched up the few small areas, waited 24 hours to assess the result, and the color isn't a great match. I can see the areas. Maybe it wasn't a great color mix at the store? Maybe I didn't stir and agitate the paint enough before applying (it had been close to a year since I bought it). So, what now? We are trying to our together a comfortable TV room, so there is furniture and lamps and tables to be added. So is this just a minor thing, the mismatched color, and I should move on? Should I try another coat on the touch ups? Repaint the whole wall (I really don't want to do that - we're finally getting to this project and I believe we need to move forward, as much as this mismatch bugs me).

There is a 56’ semi truck that permanently parks on the street outside of our house. It’s an eyesore and takes up numerous parking spots. The local law for our town says that you cannot park on a public street for more than 48 hours in a row.
I called the police yesterday and the police officer blew me off. He said that’s it is not a priority for the city. And the guy needs to park somewhere. It’s how he makes a living and all. Officer never came out and gave him a ticket (all I asked).
How do I get the police to enforce a law? Small town, less than 34k people if that helps.

I'm female 48 y/o, I have bipolar 2 and cPTSD. I currently take:
Lamotrogine: 250mg am, & 200mg pm
Escitalapram: 15mg am
Epilim: 200mg pm
Valdoxan: 25mg pm
Melatonin: 5mg pm
Vitamin D (deficiency found via blood test)
Zinc ( I have terrible hair fall and it seems to help)
Evening Primrose oil
Stilnox (as needed)
I have always had bad sleep, extensive SA during childhood by father. I have done significant therapy including EMDR which was very helpful.
My sleep has been very erratic over the past few months a night taking stilnox I can get 7 - 8 hours, some night without 5 - 6.5 hours but at least once a week only 2 - 3 hours. My mood is alsi starting to dip. I saw my psychiatrist last Tuesday. He has suggested adding in amitriptyline at night. I was a little uneasy about adding something else in. He suggested trying it and if it helps I could go off the valdoxan. I'm not overly keen on this as, I know the valdoxan is helping my mood. I also know it acts on dopamine rather than serotonin. I have had issues in the past with antidepressants tipping me into hypomania. I monitor myself closely and my psychiatrist has previously allowed me to reduce or increase my escitalopram on my own.
I decided to fill the script today, along with all the others, and try it out. When I went to fill it my pharmacist (I go there for everything) was concerned about the combination of the escitalopram and amitriptyline. I've done some reading and there does some to be possible problems taking both together. I have been seeing my current psychiatrist for about 11 years and I do really trust him but this just makes me uneasy. I am going to try to get a telehealth appointment with my gp but, of course, it's the weekend and she doesn't work Monday or Tuesday.
I am rather anxious about it, so here I am at 1 am with my mind racing and unable to sleep.

Feeling Lost
I have a BSc In Biochemistry, Diploma in Industrial Microbiology. I have been teaching part time at the college level in Ontario Canada for 3 years.
I initially took this job because the work life balance was amazing, you basically only had to work 12 hours a week, marking at home. It has benefits as well. It was the same rate of pay as if you were working 40 hours a week at 25 an hour. it's been 3 years, wages have stagnated, prices on everything are soaring and we have a baby on the way. Also I would happily work more than 12 hours, but the wierd union agreement means you cant work more than 12 hours if you want benefits, and you can't go over 12 more than once every 18 months.
Contract renewals every semester also mean that job security is tenuous.
I feel trapped, the possibilities for a significant raise require more education, which I am working on slowly getting through, but theres at least another year to go, with no guarantee that the increase would even be significant. Getting full time also means more education.
I love this job but I have had to apply to other colleges to make ends meet. The amount of driving involved is killing me.
The idea of getting a full time job at even 25 bucks an hour feels like a huge step back in work life balance and gives me a panic attack.
I also tutor on the side.
What I really want is to be able to work at one school, focus on it completely, get to know my colleagues and be involved in the college community, but I feel spread so thin I can barely focus on anything, including my family.

I am 22F with parents who were always on the stricter end when it comes to socializing. It gotten slightly better after I got accepted to a professional health school and moved out, but they still feel the need to criticize and add in their two cents when the friend I am hanging out with doesn't meet their criteria. Preferably a minority, has to be female, has to be a stem or health major, same age group, must be straight. I am living with them this summer and will go back to my house when school starts again since that is what they expected. So its almost like I am a teenager trying to get their approval again. I can still technically go, but they would lecture me so much that its not worth asking and I regret asking them. It has come to a point where I tell my friends my parents said no even when I never asked them, or I would make up an excuse.
The friend I am trying to hang out with is puerto-rican/white but white passing. They is not in school but will start in fall at a community college majoring in general studies. This is a major for students who don't know what to major in yet. Same age group, but is Non-binary. My parents, particular my mom, are homophobic, and are afraid that if I am seen with someone from the LGBTQ+ community I am less likely to get a husband. Its harder to not hang out with this person because they ask to hang out the most frequently, I after I manage to scrap out some time to hang they are already planning our next hangout, which is unrealistic for me. Last time I hung out with them, I told my parents it was a friend who was a nurse as a cover up but I have a hunch it won't work this time.
I just need an excuse to leave the house for a few hours. I can't use excuses like going to the store because I would actually have to buy groceries, and the friend I am trying to hang with doesn't have a driver's license and she lives almost 30 minutes away. I wanted to be stoic about this. I've adopted the philosophy that "oh well when you find out what's causing it you'll have so much more confidence having experienced all this."
Just live a little. C'mon, you can't just stop living.
The shit I have to endure on a daily basis with room spreading bad breath that persists even when my mouth is closed is pissing me off to no end, and it's only been a year.
The 2 hour plane ride the day after I started getting very visceral reactions for the first time was one of the worst experiences in my life, and now I am expected to subject fellow travelers to a 9 hour one back and forth and switch two flights alongside the bus rides?
How the fuck do you people manage the mental toll?
What happens when you have to travel in an enclosed heap of metal (and people just vomit and rub their god forsaken noses and cough and laugh, gaslight and resent you) until you continually feel like a piece of waste for even existing for something you cannot identify the cause for?
But hey, don't you love your family? What if they thought you didn't want to see them? You sound anxious, maybe a therapist could help you unpack what you seemingly project onto others?
Everyone (even those few who understand my situation) are telling me following through with my trip is the way to go because my family would want to see me regardless.
I want to see them badly too, but subjecting them to this is assuredly not the terms I wanted for them.
In my presence, they'll barely be able to focus on anything, let alone eat or sleep properly. Scattering around looking for new ways to mask the scent or even get a moment's respite. It's hell for everyone and that's the worst part.
This is what happens to everyone in my immediate proximity.
Is that a way for them to spend their time off?
I've been to a dentist, they just said ah well your oral hygiene hasn't been the best and you have beginning stages of cavities in a few teeth that may need a root canal in the future if you don't get periodic check-ups every six months, could be a bacterial imbalance.
Ok so I try probiotics, seemingly doesn't make a difference based on the persisting reactions.
Then I see an ENT and besides them opening up every window in the place and wearing a mask throughout told me that I did not have any sinus infections, tonsil stones or nasal polyps. This was valuable information but from here on out I'm a bit stuck.
I guess either it's gut related (have a 10 year history of acid reflux and one prior instance of h. plyori 2 years ago) or the dentists missed something with my teeth. That's what I got atm
While I'm hopeful that AI may speed up progression in the medical field to help people like us, this whole "seeing my family who doesn't know" bit really irks me.
Has anyone had to deal with similar travel conundrums or do you have any inputs at all? I'll take literally anything from people who can relate at this point.

Our OR has absolutely no sense of urgency about anything. No one does anything to move cases along. Room turnover is reviewed every month, I’ve been here almost 3 years now and the desired turnover metric has NEVER been met. It’s always red. At one point they tried easing the metric to get some green, it didn’t improve. Same for on time starts. “Emergency” cases are supposed to be in the room in an hour or less from when we call the OR, and I can count on one hand the number of times it has happened in less than 59 minutes.
I don’t want to leave, there are a lot of good things about the hospital and my job. So my question is: those of you who work in an efficient OR, how did you change or establish the culture to make it happen?

We’re moving into our first rental house. We have mostly rented apartments. We viewed our rental while it had furniture (common areas only) and via pictures. We just did the walk through and picked up keys for the house this morning. The house has not been professionally cleaned - it is filthy. Food on the stove, grease on the vent, crumbs in every drawecabinet, beverage spills on the walls and carpet, the list goes on. All nail holes not repaired, those that are have a diff color over them. It wouldn’t be so bad if it was the same diff color but it’s not. It’s multiple and is in most rooms. Most of the light bulbs are burned out. Most doors and window sills have dog damage from biting and scratching. Carpet is in rough shape. It’s fine in the fact it’s all there and not coming up but it’s not in that it’s very discolored in most rooms in the pattern around furniture and there is a large bleach stain near the laundry room.
What would you do? Can we ask them to fix the cosmetic issues? Should we ask them to have the cleaning crew come in anyway? We aren’t moving until next Saturday so they have a few days if we do. I spent four hours cleaning today and haven’t really even made a dent.

It's time for your critiques. Micro: First up, Team 1 (Blondie, Fleur, Kami, Whorechata, Zodya)! Lisbon: Well, hello ladies… and Fleur. This concept was really interesting! I like that you weren’t afraid to approach it more seriously and it felt very atmospheric. However, it fell a little flat for me I guess? The addition of the hallucinations felt odd and left me wondering if Desireé or whatever was like- magic? I think this felt like a solid horror short story but I feel like it lacked imagination and was pretty middle of the road content wise. As for your runways… Blondie, I really love this look as I am the Miss Piggy extraordinaire but I wish it was elevated a little more. It’s giving Ariana meets Miss Piggy which I love but it’s definitely a bit more pedestrian than I’d like for All Stars. Fleur this is one of my top looks of the night you look absolutely horrid, no note really other than the glitter bouquet feels a wee bit cheap. Kami, this is cunt. No notes. Lucky, you look good! It’s a great look, I just want more mug I suppose. Zodya this is fierce, I love a concept that is well executed! One note and this is mainly a personal preference, I wish the face was more cunt less monster, but obviously that’s nitpicking. Micro: Hello pretty ladies!! I think within this group, you all have such clear strengths, and I was curious to see how that would work in a team format. And I have to say, I’m really impressed by what you came up with. Starting with the poster, I think it captures that eery feeling and the split down the poster played perfectly into the story of the movie. I think some more contrast on the poster could’ve made it pop even more, but I thought it was nicely done! In the plot, I think this was structured a little more as a scene or trailer, rather than it being an overall summary of what the film would be about and the journey it would take us on. It was well written, I just think it ended up being overshadowed by the trailer since the vibe was quite similar between the two. Speaking of the trailer, it was so gripping. I was reading as fast as I could to see what would happen next, and that level of suspense isn’t easy to achieve. My one little nitpick would be that I wish the split perspectives were showcased more, but really fantastic work. On the runway, solid looks from each of you! Kami, I love the campiness of this look, and how you and Blondie played into the pig elements of the movie. Very clever! Fleur, this is the blend of concept and glamour that you do so well, nicely done. Lucky and Zodya, these creature looks can be tough to hold onto the fashion, but you both managed to pull it off. The scaling is grand and extravagant, two of the strongest looks of the night. Overall, very impressed by your group! Micro: Next, Team 2 (Anthyy, Morgs, Steph, Sue, Wren)! Lisbon: You guys… acting challenges are hard and I get that but this thing? Was super fun!!! Oh my god!!! I think taking the camp and parody route is a risk that is well worth taking because this was really good! Troglodyte was a standout in my opinion, but everyone had their moments. This was such a fun watch and you mixed two horror franchises really well! Micro is a lot scarier though to be honest. My issue tonight with this team is the runways as opposed to the other team over there. Starting with Anthyy, I love the concept as a former dancer, I just know this execution could’ve been a little more en pointe. I’m hilarious. I just wish it was more clearly prosthetic. Morgs, this is a well executed cliché with a fun twist. I’ve seen and was expecting a booby girl but I like that you are pink, this runway isn’t winning any awards though. Steph… girl… these prosthetics are so good… but this dress is god awful. You are giving Party City girl, and that’s the point blank truth. Sue. Meh. It’s fine, just not mind blowing. WREN WHY ARE YOU A RAT? This look is train wreck central. Those are necklace and earring PNGs on that dress and I don’t even know what’s going on with your face. Rat? Why? But like, this group had a phenomenal challenge, but was challenged with looks. Micro: This team is full of some creative creative ladies, so I was really excited to see y’all in a team together. And I just have to say, the execution of this was incredibly well done. The poster, I love the custom looks, the dark shadowy feel, the scary ass “person” in the back, and the little “probably not though” at the bottom. That was a really fun little comedic touch that gave the poster some depth. I have to be honest, I was a little worried when I saw that the concept was so similar to Drag Race, just with a darker twist. I think for a challenge like this, it could’ve been an opportunity to go balls to the wall. But within the concept, you found really nuanced ways of telling the story. The character building and storytelling was next level, and it made me so invested in what was happening. The audio as well, in the words of Wendy Williams, “it was scuh-ary”. I think the way you structured everything as well was something we could actually see with a plot and trailer, clean and concise. The twisted humor throughout the trailer added lots of special touches, I loved to see it. On the runway, some serves were served! Anthyy, this dark ballerina moment is so pure, but also has darker levels beneath the surface. Steph, I think the actual prosthetic work here is amazing. But the dress, I wish it was so much more!! Morgs and Sue, I love how you both took a more standard fashion silhouette, and infused that prosthetic twist throughout. Wren, rat queen! This week was truly a return to the originality and dedication you showcased on Season Six, and this runway proves that. It’s weird, it doesn’t make sense, it’s glamorous, it checks all the boxes. She shares that during Season Five, she felt like she was overshadowed by Moof, and unable to really stand on her own as a strong competitor. Being in the bottom made her realize how badly she wants this, and moving forward, she's dedicated to giving everything she has to this competition Sue talks with Wren and Wren says that she thought Sue would've been in the top this week. Wren tells Sue that her heart is being pulled in two different directions. While she's gotten close with Kami, she can't overlook her long friendship with Sue. Sue tells Wren that she stands by what she did in the challenge, and wishes she took more responsibility for her contributions while the top and bottom queens deliberate, Anthyy and Morgs chat by the touch up mirrors Anthyy: Honestly, I'm over it. The way Wren made me feel during the challenge, and saying we weren't doing enough. 🏁Anthyy CF: When we were working on the challenge, Wren said multiple times that she didn't think Morgs and I were doing enough. And to me, that felt like a really shady way of ganging up on us to make sure none of the praise for the challenge got shown to us. I felt myself getting closer with Wren, but her questioning my work ethic, it really broke me. Morgs: You can't leave. You're doing too well. Anthyy: I didn't come here to deal with all this stress.
