I (F24) got admitted to the hospital about two weeks ago. Because of the nature of my admission, I was required to take a minimum of a month off work for recovering- as I’m a cleaner and can’t do heavy lifting of be around the cleaning products necessary to use. I still have at least two more weeks off to recover and let me say: I can’t remember the last time I LIVED like this. I still wake up in a panic “OH MY GOSH, I’m late for work! My alarm didn’t go off!” But as soon as reality sets in, I can breathe. I lay back down and relax. Most times the pressure of not going into work is enough to make me feel rested enough to start my day early and not hit snooze a bunch. I fill my day with so much more now that I don’t work. I cook at least one meal a day. I go shopping for groceries instead of delivering them. I got a library card and already read 2 books. I’ve been to 5 different park and outdoor trails near my house I’ve never even been to. I fixed a problem my mom and I have been having with T-Mobile. I completed testing and orientation for hospice care at several places. So much more too. Things that I thought didn’t interest me or I didn’t care for suddenly or filling my life with life enjoy all because I have time to dedicate and I’m able prioritize myself. Sad that this will end soon. Sad that I now know it’s possible and it’s fleeting.
I’ll miss this dearly when it’s back to “normal”

As an INTJ guy, we matched on a social app, we chatted for over a 6 months, we both live in different country so I agreed to meet her for a week in her home country. We were happy and we had good moments together. Due to our situation we decided to continue the relationship until next year and then we both will be together. I was in a serious relationship with this girl.
A month ago, this girl had a mental breakdown due to a personal problem, she stopped responding to my texts for few days. When I asked, she told me the problem. I started giving her advice in a more of a logical way rather than emotional support. But she didn't like it. This continued for next couple of days. Still I was trying to help her but she was incapable to take my advice. Then She got irritated with me because I gave her advice. Next she was like vanished, then I asked her why are you ignoring me? She answered me with "I can't think about us now, All I am thinking about is my problem". (My problem - omitted for her privacy)
I was like never mind, and wrote a sweet message to her saying "it's sad that we grew a apart, I wish it wasn't like that but all the best for your future" yada yada.. She was clearly upset that I send that message.
Its been a month but we are still talking like friends once in a while now. She posts some pics with her friends playing board games etc, because she doesn't have rebound relationship. but when I see the pics I feel sad for her. And She is telling it was my mistake that I gave her advice instead of just being emotionally available. I was like I ended the relationship because you disrespected me with "I can't think about us now".
When I made the decision to write a final message, I wasn't emotional or something. I was more logical with my decision, if she is not serious with my relationship and not interested, why bother?
But I may have some blind-spot in my thinking too which is why I shared it here. Now any "advice" for me here lol?

I love watching movies and TV shows and it's probably what I spend most of my free time doing. I play a bit of video games but not a ton. I'm kind of a homebody but I still like to get out once in a while, especially in nicer weather, even if it's just to go for a drive, usually motivated by food lol.

Years ago, circa 2006ish, on the ebaumsworld forums (yeah, ancient times) a fake video game called “Infinite Horizons” was posted that was basically a load screen that took forever and never finished loading.
Everyone trolled that the graphics were incredible, they couldn’t get past level 3, etc. It was a fun joke, but the load screen contained some really slick music that I haven’t been able to properly identify all these years ago.
I believe the host site was “foreverload.com” or “foreverflash” something like that. The music is also credited to “Shed7” but my research on both the site and the artist name has turned up nada.

If anybody has any clue what this could be, you’d be solving a nearly 20 year mystery for me and I can finally properly credit the artist on the mp3 I still listen to.

I (M28) will be going towards a pivotal moment right now. I’ll soon be living alone in another country by next month to study in college and hopefully live as a confident, socially active person aside from other goals. I decided to make the best out of my preparations to become so while money and reputable clinics aren’t the problems. However, I just can’t seem to get past my mother on gatekeeping me from undergoing a cosmetic lipo, hair transplant, and rhinoplasty since she is adamant that these could just all be achieved through traditional ways mainly by exercise. Based on what I understood from her as a son, she just really thinks that they’re a waste of good money on “just” superficial improvements and I could just make my overall life better by studying hard, exercising to lose weight, keeping the money for emergency or future business ideas, and not caring what other people think about my appearance. Basically, she thinks that Cosmetic surgery just isn’t a good investment over other things for me.
Truth is, I’m beginning to bald in my late 20s and am a bit on the fat side which makes my chin hide and my neck nonexistent. I’m a bit insecure person and I also felt that improvements on my nose too would integrate my appearance but ill make sure to only improve it minimally so as to look more natural. My socializing skills are below decent but living in another country with a difficult language and culture makes it worse. I really want the best possible chance for me to have a good head start at life in another country because I experienced that when meeting people, first impressions count and your looks rise above mostly what people evaluate first in you before anything else. I don’t know how I could achieve losing the physical problems that I think so by losing weight like my mom ideally told me to before migrating next month. Also, I don’t know how actually true it is but when I say that having good physical looks might rule you in favor of some people in some situations, I personally believe it. Those situations might be expanding your network, landing jobs and opportunities, persuading decisions, or even gaining good trustworthy friends and initially attracting the love of your life. Also, my mom doesn’t consider that I am not getting younger and my late 20s might be my only chance to set my life right which means I gotta decide now whether to do the surgeries or not while I’m still not busy and Also in my country – the only place where it's financially possible to do the surgeries.
These are just some of my concerns, but I really do not know how to tell it in a convincing manner that my mom wouldn’t say I’m just overacting or naive to give too much priority to my looks to be doing such changes to my body. I love my mom and I care about what she thinks is best for me but it just feels like I’m bothered by the thought of telling myself in my 30s 40’s or 50s that I could’ve just done the surgeries to make my life transition during my late 20’s a little bit better.
I would also appreciate your stories of how did you made your relatives accept your new/about-to-be new reality. Please help me. Thank you so much
TLDR – My beloved mom says I shouldn’t do cosmetic surgeries cos she thinks they’re not important but I worry that I may regret not doing it for its benefits which I believe to be true. F26 I’ve had a huge burn out spiral coming from two weeks ago at work and being on my period. It’s gotten worse and I called off Friday, and slept off an on the past few days. Leaving the house is a struggle. Unless I’m near my family, even then.
I keep feeling overwhelmed that I’m not where I want to be with my life , that it’s pointless and hopeless and the worst part is the DRDP, I keep wondering am I even real, is what’s around me real and that’s the most distressing part. I know I’m real but I feel so disconnected from myself like I’m a robot ect. I’ve also felt so distressed I’ve had thoughts I normally wouldn’t have.
I have one more week of work, and I want to just call in, but I don’t want to get in trouble or lose my job. then I have a vacation with my family for two weeks yet I’m terrified of ruining it by having this crippling anxiety or afraid I’ll make a fool out of myself .

Hi guys. I’m on the trip of a lifetime in Japan right now. I’m having the best time by myself. But at the back of my mind, when I come home to my hotel at night. I’m filled with sadness and guilt and stress. It’s not ruining my holiday as such, you’ll understand why.
I, 22 female, am on the trip of a lifetime with my best friend 21 Male in Japan for two weeks. We are staying 45 minutes away via train (he is staying for two months, so being very cheap, he’s crashing at a friends university dorm outside of Tokyo and avoiding paying lots of money.) I on the other hand Have spent two pay checks, I paid for a lovely hotel In the heart of Tokyo and am willing to shop and have fun. The one condition that he had, mainly from my mum and deep down from myself, is that he stays with me and makes sure I get home safe. My mum loves me very much, we have a good relationship and she worries As I’m her only child and she wants me to be safe. She is especially worried that he is an hour away from me incase anything were to happen. However Japan is a very VERY safe country as I have learned…
I have done all the organising for this holiday, what we do, what documents we need to fill in, the flights, everything. My friend has been zero help. I have stressed for months about planning and saving enough money for things, whereas my friend called me hours before we needed to fly as he hadn’t filled out important documents and wanted my help (even though I kept telling him for weeks to do it, this made me tired and stress before my flight.)
We arrived in Japan at 10Pm. We planned to use the trains to get to our destinations, and we would help eachother out to get to understand the Google maps etc. taxis were way too expensive (£200) a way. Whereas trains are about £15 total. Upon arrival, this idea that “he was going to always stay with me” went out the window. Apparently now he needed to get to his dorm before midnight before the trains stopped running, I was under the impression that he was going to stay with me the whole time. I was physically panicking and shaking as I needed him with me. I’m a girl alone in the dark in a foreign country. I kept trying to get him to come with me but he was reluctant. Eventually I gave up. He told me he needed to go else he would miss the last train and would wait until I booked a taxi (£200). After I tried to book it (the booking failed) he dissapeared. My taxi never came and I was stuck in Tokyo on my own. I never suffer from panic attacks but I was crying and physically shaking violently. I was literally lost. I looked for taxis and there were none. Information has closed. I was alone. I had to figure figure out Google maps very fast and buy tickets and attempt to use the trains. It took me 2.5 hours to get to my hotel. I got on the wrong train twice and it sent me back where I started. I had to run for trains and drag my cases down and up stairs very fast. I was a mess when I walked into the hotel, I checked in late and payed a fee too. Worst of all, my friend was so disorganised he didn’t even have his SIM card yet, or even cash. So if something had happened to me, he couldn’t have helped me, the only other person who knew me in the country. My mum only accepted me coming to Japan with him because we thought he was trustworthy. He clearly isn’t. Turns out he has plenty of time to still get to his hotel. He arrived via even later than I did because his trains were delayed. The thing that makes me the most upset is I lied to my mum, she kept texting me asking if I was safe and if Olly friend was with me. I opted to lie to her directly so she wouldn’t panic across the world. I feel so guilty.
I have learned however, how safe Japan really is for women. Of course there’s always exceptions and you still need to be watchful. But there are other woman walking alone in the dark at night, even through midnight. There are workers all over the streets through the night. I’ve come to the conclusion myself that Japan is very safe and now I feel comfortable to travel myself and walk around even in the evening. That’s now on me. But I can’t respect that before we could analyse how safe it was, he left me. Even if I had forced him to come with me, I still feel that he would be annoyed having to go out of his way to make sure I got to the hotel safe. I think my safety was much more serious than his and I am more vulnerable as a women alone at night. Tonight, he has again left me to walk home. This is the third night out of three that he can’t be bothered to walk me home. I now feel comfortable doing so, but that’s not the point. I wasn’t comfortable the first night, or the night before as I still had not analysed the situation. I’ve decided now to ditch him altogether. This is my holiday now, I am happy to be in my own company. I know I could come to Japan again on my own and feel safe, and walk around in the evenings myself. I have spent the days by myself too. Because since he’s so unorganised. He decided when we got here, despite me making a plan for us, that he “needed to settle in and get a SIM card etc.” I’ve barely seen him. But that’s now fine by me. All he now suddenly wants to do is go to bars with his other friend in the country he’s crashing with. I have now refused to go on any further holidays with him. And yes I’ve tried talking to him but he brushes it off. If I were his girlfriend (who didn’t come with us) he’s had no problems walking her home. He just dosent care. My main concern now is 1)Am I over reacting? Did I do something wrong? And 2) how do I get over this guilt of lying to my mother, do I tell her? Or how can I bear this lie I’ve told her?
