2023.03.22 07:07 Critt3rB0t I think our DM has trained the rest of our party to avoid conflict and proactivity. Now I'm frustrated by the passivity.

For a bit of explanation, I've been struggling as a player in my playgroup's latest campaign because of what seems like reluctance from the other players to take a proactive role in the story or to engage in conflict.
In our latest campaign, the party is a group of countryside villagers that have been whisked away to the enormous capital city of the nation (think Waterdeep or Baldurs Gate type vibes). The narrative has us framed for a crime out in the countryside, and in a twist of fate working for the local guard in a poor district while the legal details get sorted out in the background. The motivation for our characters is that by helping out the authorities, we can get key political figures to support us in the upcoming trial.
It's a fine narrative and I'm actually feeling better about it than in our previous campaigns. The problem is that as we are trying to solve crimes, the GM is giving us scenarios where the general populace and other law enforcement entities are secretive and unhelpful, or where the significant leads come from lawful evil criminals that offer us deals to advance our goals.
That would all be well and good, but 2 things are happening with the other party members. First, is that at the first sign of conflict (in the sense of both verbal and combat conflict), the other players aren't making an effort to engage with NPCs. Second is that the players are unwilling to navigate any deals with "evil" characters. Even when the deal is to stop other criminals.
In the latest example, a crime boss asked us to essentially shut down a drug lab owned by an opposing crime boss. The bar wasn't even set very high, we just had to get rid of the competition's existing stock. No killing necessary, no need to commit our own crimes. We even had implicit permission from the guard captain. But when the scene progressed, the party kept stopping to say how we were the good guys and we shouldn't be doing it because it could be someone's livelihood. They would keep flip-flopping between destroying the drugs, or just reporting the operation to the guards.
I think part of the problem is that the previous 2 campaigns we played were pretty much non-stop combat challenges and we were also under pretty strict timetables, with "end of the world" plots and a BBEG we were racing towards. I think the strain of hard fights (usually it would be one big fight between long rests that burned our resources) and the fact that the narrative often didn't allow us to take as many long rests burnt out the party. Now that we are in a campaign with more autonomy, the other players are behaving risk-adverse.
In the last campaign I was also playing a character that could push the action better. I played a lawful evil wizard, with an arrogant, risky personality. It was very easy for me to say things that would prompt some kind of action or a fight.
Now I'm playing a lawful neutral Monk that's supposed to be easygoing and friendly. I'm role-playing it a bit rowdy in a drunken fist kinda style, so I have some leeway to incite things, but it's hard to push that enough. I'm trying to keep the door open for the other players (like our rouge, or streetwise sorcerer) to influence these urban situations where they should shine.
Any ideas how to approach this without putting people on the spot? I have some gripes about the way the GM is being a bit cagey with info, but I also can't blame him because I think the players are not acting on clear plot lines being placed in front of them.
Is this a problem to be solved with in-game decisions, or should I be looking at an out-of-game conversation? I don't think leaving this group is correct. They're all good friends and great to RP with, but this passivity thing feels like it's pushing us towards uninteresting situations for that RP to happen in.

2023.03.22 07:07 smotz1996 Is this a GDPR violation ? What could be the consequences .

So the situation is as follows : like two years ago I stumbled upon some information while trying to solve and error in an excel file that we use on daily basis that there was a hidden password protected sheet . So me being tech savvy and trying to solve this error bypassed the password and turned out that the sheet had all the staff gross salary on the sheet and basically rest of the information that the sheet contained was a duplication of information I can see on other unprotected sheets anyway . Didn’t do anything with this info just had a look .
So fast forward to today : I was talking to a colleague about pay etc the college has the same position and title as me and she started saying how much she makes . I was a bit surprised because she was claiming she is making more then me so I remember that I knew where to check so I did and compared it . Turned out she was right she was making more then me and turned out I have been payed less then all the people on the same contract and title as me . So I went to address this with my ops manager . He asked me to send over this information so I did . First thing what he asked me about was where did I get this information . So I told him . He started going on about that I have violated gdpr etc and I will need to go speak to my general manager about this violation .
So my question did I actually violate gdpr by bypassing the excels password ?
The only information there that was present was employee name ( have access to this anyway in the same file ) employee nr ( have access to this anyway in the same file ) gross pay and brake downs of it like weekly/ monthly/ hourly used in formulas

2023.03.22 07:07 bobaorchai Davis, Irvine, or Santa Cruz? Help!

Hello!
I'd love if anyone could offer any insight regarding which college I ought to choose.
For some background info, I'm a South Asian American guy from Santa Clara (in the South Bay) and my major is in the humanities; I'd like to become an educator down the line. So quality of education/program def matters to me, although I'm not that worried because they're all great schools!
In a college, I don't *necessarily* want a big city vibe, but I def want to go to a school with things to do; that said, I'm not super into the club/party scene so I don't much mind about that. But in general, I'd rather go to a livelier school with a lot of things going on! Please keep in mind that it's unlikely I'll have a car at college, so activities at a greater distance will probably be more difficult access-wise. Fyi, I'm not big on beaches/hiking.
I'd also really like to make some good friends, which I know is more on me—at the same time, I have heard that it can be easier at schools with robust communities/clubs/etc., so any input on that would be super appreciated. I'm additionally hoping for good dining options, and boba is a must!!
Now 'm well aware that a college experience is largely what you make of it, but I would nonetheless love to get other people's opinions on what the best option would be for me personally. Thanks so much in advance!

2023.03.22 07:07 MARCVS-PORCIVS-CATO Any tips for building a pseudopaladin?

So, basically, I’m going to be playing a kobold who was training to be a paladin, failed the final trial because he wasn’t quite strong enough, got extremely drunk, and made some kind of deal with a shady stranger at the bar. The next morning, he wakes up with blurry memories, but he discovers that he has new magical abilities, and he remembers this person saying that they can make him a paladin. However, unknown to him, he is actually a hexblade warlock,” now, and the person he met was the servant of a powerful evil dragon, who is now his patron
Now that background is out of the way, do you guys have any tips or suggestions, either for character creation or for choices later on? We’re starting at level 1, and my current stat line up is 11 STR, 12 DEX (+1.racial bonus), 15 CON (+1), 9 INT, 8 WIS, and 17 CHA (+1). I took Eldritch Blast, Prestidigitation, Armor of Agathys, and Wrathful Smite. When the time comes, I’m kind of torn between Pact of the Blade, to get Eldritch Smites, and Pact of the Chain, to get a cool pseudodragon familiar (especially since this is going to be a dragon-heavy campaign). Eldritch Smites look tempting, but at first glance, the bonuses from Pact of the Blade don’t look that much better than what I already get from Hex Warrior, so I’m not sure whether it’s worth it
But really though, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I’ve also never played a warlock before, so I’d love some general warlock tips, too

2023.03.22 07:06 kaykayjesp Jeju, South Korea

I’m currently travelling around South Korea but I’m starting to get a bit bored with the country. I’m in Jeju right now and having the worst day. 4 reasons why I wanted to visit Jeju: - Hallasan mountain - caves - tea museum - glass castle
I realised last week that I wasn’t fit enough to do the Hallasan hike so I cancelled my permit before I even arrived. I arrived in the evening and started planning the next day. Turns out all the caves on the island are closed except for the two in Hallim park, which seem really underwhelming. So I change my plans for the first day and decided to go to the tea museum and glass castle. I checked maps and they were both open. I spent 1 hour on the bus to go to the museum only to find out that the actual museum isn’t open due to renovations, but only the shop and café are. I try the green tea ice cream but I really don’t like it. I go online to double check the glass castle with the tourist help chat, thinking I can’t be that unlucky, but turns out I can! It’s also closed due to renovations. I changed plans and wanted to go for a hike but the bus wouldn’t come for over another hour. So changed plans again to go to an arboretum. Thankfully it’s a nice place.
As I’m travelling indefinitely I also schedule some relax days, one of them I scheduled in Jeju. But apparently guests are not allowed inside the hostel I booked between 10am and 4pm so I can’t even do that!
Honestly at this point I can’t wait to leave this country. I had some really amazing days but overall it’s really underwhelming and not worth multiple weeks. It also doesn’t help that I’m not a fan of the local cuisine.

2023.03.22 07:05 obesity_boi First time ivern Botlane

Hi gang, long time ivern fan but I've only ever played him JG or Mid until yesterday. tried my first game with ivern on support whilst my friend went maokai APC (we were trolling but in a 5 stack with friends who were all fine with it)
It went well and we actually dominated lane but I noticed that I ended up getting a lot of the kills mostly from daisy autos, ignite and my range over maokai.
My question really is a two parter.
1) what are some better non troll pick adcs to pair with ivern. I know Caitlin and rengar are good cuz of brush passive but are there others?
2) if I run maokai ivern bot again. How is ivern as an APC? Any builds or stratus?

2023.03.22 07:05 HereToAskAQuestion0 What was the lifestyle of a Daimyo's children during the Heian Period?

Hi! I'm asking this because I'm rewriting the lore of my Twisted Wonderland OCs and I wanted it to be as correct or accurate as much as possible so I apologize in advance about the many questions.
If a daimyo's wife gave birth to a pair of twins, the older being a boy and the younger being a girl, would they be raised differently? How would the girl be raised if she was born with bad eye sight? (Blurry vision that can be corrected with glasses, but I read that glasses weren't available during the Heian period yet). Additional info just in case it helps, but the parents are very loving and they have an older brother and two older sisters.
If the junihitoe was for imperial court, what did 14 year old noble female children wear for everyday clothing? Were suikans the everyday clothing for 14 year old males?
At what age were children considered as adults? What were the daily duties of noble children (if they have any) or did to pass the time? How were they also educated?

2023.03.22 07:05 You-BeautifulHuman Decision Roulette after write off

Valentines Day saw my little Hyundai i10 premium written off to the tune of about 5.5k. I come from a family of mechanics so I'm gebrtally happy to run my cars until the wheels actually fall off (or we drive it back home with a diesel canister feeding the engine through some hose from the front seat - necessity engineering at its best, that one).
Anyway
I'm now in perpetual decision roulette. I drive about 40 miles per average day, up and over a mountain each way. I have two 6 foot tall passengers. Ideally, I want something hybrid or electric but I'm happy that I just don't have the budget for that right now.
I had the newer i10 as a courtesy car and wasn't too impressed - started stuttering in the cold which I've had as an electrical fault in a Getz previously. So we've been looking at new cars: Peugeot 208 (blame Belinda Carlisle), the Mokka, the Fiesta (because I figured that it's the last of its kind and I might see some money back when it comes to resell), and the outlier... Dacia.
But do I just wait out the second hand market going bananas?
The Dacia is ridiculously affordable but I don't know about them holding their worth at all. I also don't know whether I look for something short term and get into the electric stuff sooner rather than later, or plan to run something to the ground again.
I just need some help pinning ideas down, I guess.
Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.

2023.03.22 07:05 caysilou My (32F) Fiancée (27F) told me two weeks ago that she no longer feels romantic towards me after 7 years together.

About two weeks ago my fiancée was seeming down and I asked her what was going on. She explained to me that she loves me but she doesn't feel like she is 'in love' with me any more as she doesn't feel romantic towards me after being together for 7 years.
Our relationship hasn't been the absolute greatest but started really well and we were both really close and the intimacy between us was goood. About 2 years ago we moved in with her parents so that we could save for a deposit for a house/flat.
Naturally our sex life dried up somewhat due to living with family but otherwise we stayed close and spent a lot of time together. About a year ago we bought our own flat and we've both been focussed on our career since then with me securing a promotion at work and her upskilling a lot.
Since that moment I have felt absolutely broken. She's moved out of our flat and moved back in to her parents home. We met up the following day and we both admitted that we've not really been focussed on eachother since moving into the flat and agreed to try to start again with dating.
Since then we've had one proper date, another one was on the cards however was rained off and we spent an evening in together. She's been popping round to the flat every other day for a couple of hours but I can't help feel hollow.
She's said she needs time to work out her feelings but I can't help but cling on to one of the things that she's said towards the start of this new phase of our lives "I miss you but I don't know if I just miss my best friend or if I want to be with you".
I can't help but feel used and like I'm just being strung along whilst she works things out. What I want is for us to be back together but I can't help but feel like I'm clinging on to an option that doesn't exist.
Has anyone been through anything similar? I don't know whether to just rip the band aid off and call it a day or to ride out this storm.
tldr: Partner told me after 7 years that she doesn't feel romantic towards me and left to live at her parents. She's wanting to "date" in the mean time and I just feel strung along whilst she works things out.

2023.03.22 07:05 ashmadebutterfly Paranoid about previous heavy bleeding

Hi everyone, rough post coming. Trigger warning for bleeding and mental health stuff, as well as talking and asking about cancer.
Alright everyone so I’ve had a rough time. You can look at my posts and see I’ve had a lot of physical issues come up in the past two years. In the past year my periods started coming back, but every two months and bleeding for fifteen to 25 days. Bleeding heavy. This past January my period started and did not end until March. In late February it hit a peak, I went to the hospital for bleeding through everything I was wearing every hour.
I saw a post recently about endometrial cancer, and I found out on of the big symptoms of it was irregular bleeding. Mind you I am currently 24, gonna be 25 this year. I feel like I’ve been throwing hands with Murphys Law for the past year, so health issues just don’t feel as distant as they did before.
Now I’m terrified and scared about it, and I wonder what to do about it. I’ve been thinking about asking my gyno to test me for endometriosis given the insane bleeding and the level of pain I was dealing with. I’m not excited about an endometrial biopsy but I just want to rule things out.
What are other signs of endometrial cancer? Am I just being scared and paranoid? I am just tired and afraid and I wanna know what’s going on, and I don’t want to be scared of this thing right now.
Thanks for reading, hope you’re all having a good day.

2023.03.22 07:05 frankmanagement Top 6 Reasons to Choose Recruitment Firm in Kenya - Frank Management Consult Ltd

A Best Recruitment Firm in Kenya can be quite helpful for this aim since companies are only as excellent as the people they are able to hire. Companies can spend less time and money on hiring by using a talent search and recruitment process that is supported by a sound strategy.
Companies that provide external services to help businesses locate the best applicants are known as recruitment agencies. They are in charge of matching talents with organizations' open positions. They consistently collaborate, managing to uphold the necessary standards and conveying the desires of both sides.
Why to Hire a Recruitment Firm?
These recruiters are knowledgeable about the industry, the market, and the competitors. They are able to use their resources to your benefit and know where and how to find the talent.
Broad Network
A recruiter at Best Recruitment Firm in Uganda knows where to look for the many passive job seekers who are out there. Even though they aren't actively looking for work, some people would be interested in learning about a position. These individuals typically make the finest candidates but you won't find them posting an advertisement.
Save Time
Most businesses cannot afford to have a position available for too long before it starts to negatively impact the company's ability to succeed. We are all too aware of the stress this places on employees who take on more obligations as businesses try to keep up with workloads. Internal recruiters may spend days or even weeks searching job sites, reviewing online applications, contacting candidates, pre-screening, and scheduling interviews.
Save Resources
You need to manage your business. Even if you're fortunate enough to have an HR department, they're probably busy handling regular employee problems.
By engaging the Best Recruitment Firm in Tanzania to handle the hiring and recruitment, you can save money. While filling important positions, you can save your own personnel time and continue with business as usual.
Ability to identify talent
The advantage of a Best Recruitment Firm in Rwanda is that it works with both businesses looking for talent and people looking for job openings. They are therefore in a perfect position to mediate disputes between the two parties as "in the know" brokers.
Recruiting consultants may have a lot of value in knowing who is looking for work, how competent they are, and what kind of wage expectations they have.
Negotiate salaries
As an employer, the last thing you want is to finish the hiring process, select your top candidate, and extend a job offer only to find out that it has nothing to do with income and benefits. Before you start salary talks, recruiters can give you useful tools and help you compare salaries with those paid by other companies in your industry.
Recruitment agencies actively place qualified candidates while also negotiating the pay for the recruiting process.
Offer insight into the industry
Another benefit of hiring recruiting agencies' services is that they offer employment solutions to companies in a range of industry sectors, including finance and accounting, financial services, interim management, technology, and administration.
The Bottom Line
In the current job market, it is difficult and only getting more difficult to compete for the best and the brightest. You may increase your candidate options while saving time and money by working with a Best Recruitment Firm in Kenya. Recruiters are skilled in locating the most qualified individuals to fill your positions as soon as possible.

No matter if it is Shein or any other app, there are some factors that affect the overall cost of app development. Based on the level of complexity and the team that you have hired to develop the app, the cost varies.
However, these are not the only variables that affect the overall cost of the app; there are many others.
1. The App Development Team
The cost of an app like Shein depends on the development team that you have hired. You can either go for an in-house development team, or you can hire a development agency overseas.
An in-house team would cost you way more than hiring a development agency to develop the app. An overseas agency in a country like India, Ukraine, etc., will be the best choice.
2. UI/UX Design
The UI/UX design of the app also plays a significant role in its cost. As you design the app, it is necessary to check each and every feature and its usability. This timely checking and testing come with a price tag that could be higher based on the level of expertise of the app developer.
3. Features of the App
Features are the most critical aspects of the app. It is pretty obvious that more advanced features will enhance the app’s cost. Some of the prime features that make your app costly would be.
  • Mobile payment features like PayPal and Google wallet.
  • Geolocation data handling in the app requires time for incorporation, which elevates the cost.
  • Third-party integrations like social media platforms, analytics API, and website chat can increase the cost as they require API integration.
4. The App Platform
Your audience will have users with both iOS and Android devices. On a worldwide basis, Android devices are used by more users as compared to iOS. However, in the US, users of iOS devices are more.
It is on you which audience you are targeting, although if you develop an app for one of them, it will cost you almost the same. However, it is best to develop an app for both platforms to cover the maximum market. A cross-platform app can be an ideal pick as it is more affordable than native apps.
5. App Maintenance
The final factor that affects Shein like app development cost, is maintenance. Irrespective of the type of app, maintenance is a critical factor in long-term survival. App maintenance includes a lot of factors, such as updation to the latest operating system, code optimization, bug fixing, updating third-party integrations, etc.
All of them are crucial, and all of them are required to be done periodically. There are two types of maintenance services, namely, on-demand services and ongoing support. Ongoing support is preferable over on-demand, but it is a bit pricey.

2023.03.22 07:04 zoeysaurusrex Lessons learned on Romaji towards a new solution

Hey there /totklang
While going through the most recent text with u/DaZip and LoruleanHistorian I learned a few things that I wanted to share.
While performing index of coincidence scoring on the entire monument plus the words in the art book along with both murals from the October 2022, several of us found that the score was lower. For non-random text in Romaji, you’d expect to see a score close to 0.089 (normalized).
All the text, however, was scoring at 0.080. This was incredibly weird for a few reasons, mainly because even if one or two words was in English, the score should drop to below 0.080. That was until we performed index of coincidence scoring on the Sheikah tapestry before it was contextualized into Hepburn Romaji.
The original Sheikah tapestry after being transliterated from Sheikah, is in Kunrei-Shiki Romaji, which has its own sets of rules for processing. A great example of that is that with Hebo, you would expect to see mostly correct romanized syllables spelled out, especially for sounds like ち、し、つ (chi, shi, tsu). In Kunrei, things like ti, si, ts can be commonly found.
Why does this matter?
The frequency distributions used for making educated guesses based on Kunrei are not the same as Hebo (Hepburn). It’s truly the little details that make all the difference. It was this detail that enabled us, along with others to find a real, near perfect solution to the runes.
We are working as hard as we can to pack all this information up, and just as last time, I wanted to start sharing information while we have multiple native speakers verify the solution.

2023.03.22 07:04 Upstairs-Form1418 After retiring, we were able to "reunite" with our mother; chatting became our daily routine.

Worried about my mother being lonely, I moved in with her. Walking into this familiar village, I rarely see my childhood friends. Most of the village is old, lonely men and widows, waiting in the spacious room and looking at the screen, which is extraordinarily quiet. Since the mother insisted on going home and returning to the countryside to live alone. The mother was satisfied and smiled brightly.

I remember when I was five or six years old, it was a difficult time, and I was skinny and lonely, walking around ten miles from Zhanghua Village to my mother's house. The door was opened, and the half-covered door was pushed open. The mother was sitting on the head of the bed wearing a printed headscarf, and the younger brother was wrapped in a thin quilt, waiting to be fed. When my mother saw me, she said, "Hey, how did you get here?" My tears fell like broken beads. My mother got up quickly, took out a paper bag from the bedside table, opened it layer by layer, squeezed a small ball of brown sugar (which she ate during confinement), and poured boiling water into a large porcelain bowl. I was so hungry and thirsty that I didn't care too much. I took the hot bowl and drank it with my head up, which made me scream. This is also the most unforgettable "sweet memory" in my life.

Our mother and son cherish the time, are inseparable, and lie in the same room at night; chatting in our respective beds three steps apart, a series of secrets and anecdotes, ups and downs. As I talked, I responded from the initial "hmm" to the snoring sound of falling asleep. When I was woken up by the chirping birds in the morning, my mother had already prepared breakfast, and the first thing she said when she saw me was, "Your snoring is so loud, it's exactly like mine." There is an old saying about knowing a child like a mother". Day after day, those whispers that blend into the blood of the soul clarify the emotional context of our mother and child.

Because my biological father and my mother had a disagreement in their personalities in the early years, I didn't live with my mother when I was young. Both mother and son have a tacit grievance. Those past events are unbearable to look back on; with a long cry, they suddenly fall. Those misfortunes and encounters in life, in front of my mother, there is nothing I can't let go of. There are two old houses, one is the old house I used to live in, which no longer exists now; but the old house where my mother lived gave me a sense of belonging in my later years.

In the cold winter and the twelfth lunar month, it is so pleasant to be able to lean against the gable and bask in the sun with my mother, chat about homework, fill the space between heaven and earth, and fill my heart. My mother raised me, and I grow old with my mother, I hope that I am worthy of my heart.
