Looking for current or former residents of Pattaya only in comments.
I am a now unemployed software engineer from the Bay Area. This is not my first time in Thailand. Historically I have always stayed in Bangkok but because I need my money to last longer now I am looking at alternative cheaper options. For what I pay in rent in the Bay Area I can live 2 months in Pattaya.
Why not Phuket? Expensive and fuck the taxi mafia.
Why not Chiang Mai? Air quality(currently).
Why not Hua Hin/Kanchanaburi/some small town? Too small.
Why not Nonthaburi/Bearing/Bangkae/some far off suburb in BKK? Because dollar for dollar I can get better units in Pattaya. Potentially beachfront too.
That leaves Pattaya. Big enough to have a Terminal 21, Central, but cheap enough that rents are about 60-70% of Bangkok's prices even on Airbnb which is the most expensive(but convenient) option. I could even go straight to Suvarnabhumi if I wanted. I have been to Pattaya once a long long time ago.
I have narrowed it down to: East Pattaya(darkside), North Pattaya/Na Kluea, South Pattaya/Thepprasit and Pratunmak. Notice Central Pattaya is not on this list. I do not need the nightlife, but I notice that Foodland in Pattaya(where I can get food at 4 am) is all in Central Pattaya. Grab delivery will solve this, but I like to stretch my legs and walk to get food close by.
What am I doing up at 4 am if not partaking in the nightlife and what Pattaya is famous for? That is 2pm SF time and I am on a Zoom interview.
Budget? I figure I can get by on 60k THB. Crucial point: I care about the quality of the condo units as I spend a good amount of time in the unit.
I want to hear the pros and cons of each of those areas in Pattaya I have listed above. Go.

A BILL TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT relating to a prohibition of certain social media platforms developed or provided by certain foreign entities. BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1.
Chapter 120,
Business & Commerce Code, is amended by adding Subchapter C-1 to read as follows: SUBCHAPTER C-1. PROHIBITION OF CERTAIN SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS Sec. 120.121.
SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORM DEVELOPED OR PROVIDED BY CERTAIN FOREIGN INDIVIDUALS OR ENTITIES PROHIBITED. Notwithstanding any other law, a social media platform may not operate in this state if the platform is developed or provided by:
(1) a governmental entity of China, Iran, North Korea, or Russia;
(2) a company or other entity that is:
(A) headquartered in China, Iran, North Korea, or Russia;
(B) directly or indirectly held or controlled by the government of China, Iran, North Korea, or Russia; or
(C) owned by or the majority of stock or other ownership interest of which is held or controlled by individuals who are citizens of China, Iran, North Korea, or Russia;
(3) a company or other entity that is owned by or the majority of stock or other ownership interest of which is held or controlled by a company or entity described by Subdivision (2);
or (4) an individual who is a citizen of China, Iran, North Korea, or Russia.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023.

Hi all — my husband and I are visiting Ireland in May. We are juggling quite a few travel priorities. First, we plan to see extended family that I have in the North. Second, we have friends who will be with us for the first half of the trip — they are happy to tag along but just need to be near a airport by 5/24. Lastly, I haven’t seen a lot of the South so I’d like to fit it in if possible.
Here’s the itinerary I’ve come up with but I’d love feedback! Is it too ambitious to do it all? I hate that Day 2 is practically all non-coastal driving but I’m not sure if there’s any way around that. The first portion of the trip with friends is also very maleable — it could be somewhere other than Galway! Let me know your thoughts.

This is going to be a longshot. I'm trying to remember an anime I saw and I had found it a number of years ago but can't find it anymore.
One of the characters had a Crescent or Moon and Star on the forehead or body (Not Inuyasha. That is too recent). The characters had superhuman strength due to symbols or something like that. I feel like they were zodiac sign related but I only remember an Ox symbol or power so that might not be the case. I remember there was a love story between main characters. It was set in a fantasy style realm. No future tech.
I can picture it but don't have more to go on. I know it was before the year 2000 and I'm pretty sure it was late 80s or early 90s when it came out but I can't find it looking at lists and box arts for anime from that time. Maybe I'm mistaken on the timeline but there isn't much to look at from before that time period and I saw it so long before I remember the 2000s shows. Fist of the North Star style animation but that might be a little off in terms of a comparison.
