I received an invitation for a wedding in Atlanta, GA for late July that specifies “black tie attire”. The ceremony begins at 5:30, and both the ceremony and reception are outside (very fancy country club-type location). I even checked with my friend (the MOH) to make sure I wasn’t misinterpreting the location/attire. There will be some shade for the reception, but the ceremony and seating for dinner are not shaded.
If you’ve never been to the South in July… it’s HOT. And humid. I’ve sat outside in shorts and a tank top at 11pm, dripping sweat. I cannot imagine sitting outside wearing a floor length gown in the heat, with high humidity and blaring sun, much less eating and dancing. I feel even worse for the guys in a full on tux during this!
Any tips? Is there any way that wearing a shorter dress is an option?

MC PMC was hired to capture and bring HVT (codename Goblin Queen) from North Takistan. Easy smash and grab, unfortunately the HVT is surrounded by major Takistani forces, for that reason we have decided to import some fancy fireworks.
But someone had to tip off customs and all of our equipment got nabbed at Mantiq. So we need to get it first, before we can even attempt to capture HVT.
For that reason we've made deal with local camel merchants and got some basic stuff and little ace, called ION vics. These will allow us to get close to Mantiq without getting shot at sight.

Criticisms about historical accuracy should be shouted down an empty can of microwave noodles.

Some people are really mad about the finale, others are saying it's one of the best finales ever. I find myself in neither camp. I think the performances and most of the writing were top tier as always. But IMO the writers put too much into pulling the rug out from under us with the ending.
The Waystar board is apparently very, very strongly pro-Deal at the beginning of the ep. Then the balance suddenly goes the other way and without too much effort by Ken's bloc. Similarly, Shiv and Rome seem to reconcile themselves to King Ken and then just brutally smack him down at the ending (without a clear trigger). I understand their sibling relationships are complex, but I don't think we got enough buildup for the final betrayal.
The buildup for Ken coming out on top but becoming Logan-esque in the process- that certainly was there. I think that in modern TV, some writers put too much stock into "shocking" the audience. That can certainly be good sometimes: Kendall accidentally killing the waiter and tanking his hostile takeover was a great example. But in this case I think the writers just didn't want to take the logical route even if it would've been better for the story.
Imagine if after Ken's siblings backed him, he was still short of votes (which would make sense, since like I said he was struggling at the ep's beginning). In order to bribe some votes, he has to betray his promise to give ATN to Shiv and Socials to Rome. He secretly makes this deal, and only reveals it to the sibs after the vote goes through for him. They hate him and leave. Would a Michael Corleone ending be so bad? Who cares if it was the expected ending for many fans? I want to cite earlier comments fans made on this topic:

The show seemed to value the fact that "You'll never guess how it ends", but I'm not sure if that gave us the best ending.

I taught at a strict vocational college that forced students to wear uniforms and bow to elders. As someone who let students call him by his first name and played Valo with them, I was not surprised when my boss called me into his office. I was ready to defend myself, but I was hit with: “Are you aware that your students are descendants of a cannibal?”
Truthfully? Sort of. I knew that in 1600, colonists invaded the island and enslaved the natives. A pirate named Sur-Linyao slaughtered the colonists and became the island’s folk hero.
Murals and statues of Sur-Linyao were all over the island. His signature look was his very long tongue sticking out of his mouth. The symbol on his pirate flag was a six-dot triangle. Technically, Sur-Linyao didn't eat ALL of the colonists, just one organ. First, he tied each colonist to a tree. Sur-Linyao then cut out each man’s liver and ate it raw with chili paste while staring into the person’s eyes. Sur-Linyao then threw that bleeding and squirming colonist into a dirty shallow pond, where Komodo dragons, attracted to the blood, devoured the victim alive.
The school rector handed me a photograph. It showed a male Westerner smiling while kicking a statue of Sur-Linyao while two women cheered him on. The three in the photo were humanitarian workers. Traces of candle wax at the base of Sur-Linyao’s statue showed that the islanders worshipped the liver-eating pirate, and for some reason, the workers felt they needed to do something about that. The three thought that their 6 months long relationship-building with natives on the island earned them enough goodwill for them to get away with that kind of stunt. Just a few hours after the photo was taken, the hacked body parts of all three were found scattered all over the beach. Their livers were missing.
The rector then stared right at me, preparing me for his next sentence. “Before you think that I’m a racist who is prejudging the modern-day natives as liver-eating savages based on what their ancestors did hundreds of years ago, you should know that the killings happened in 2017. To put things in perspective, the Nintendo Switch was already out.”
The rector then revealed that he called me into his office to ask me about an incident a day before.
There was a report that a White man with a goatee whistled at a native girl inside a convenience store on the south side of the island. He asked if that was me.
I was shocked. That was the reason he called me in here? I told him no. Apparently, there were only about 30 Caucasians on this island of 20,000 people, and only a few had a goatee. The rector then told me that a cop and the girl’s father and an older brother went to my dorm to look for me but I wasn’t there.
After seeing the look of horror on my face, wondering what would have happened if I was at the dorm, the rector told me not to panic and that he will talk to the cop and the girl’s family on my behalf. The rector ended our meeting with, “Just be careful AJ. We are the minority here. I hope to god you know what that means.”
For the past few classes, I started letting my students analyze Western media and culture. Thanks to globalization, these island kids watched and played the same media content as others their age around the world: Stranger Things, MCU, Fortnite, etc. As their teacher, I was often asked to comment on controversial topics like: “AJ, what do you think about a Neo-Nazi being punched before he does anything?” “AJ, what do you think about Black Lives Matter?” “AJ, what do you think about Go Woke Go Broke?” “AJ, what do you think about Don’t-Say-Gay-Bill?”
My answer was always to not ask me what I think, but for them to gather information from various sources and come to their own conclusion. Since more than ⅔ of the class were teenage males, their views were… not very much aligned with mine. But even though I disagreed with them, I felt like we had a healthy discussion.
I then noticed a student, Stephanie, seemed very unhappy as she shoved her notebook into her bag at the end of class. “You know I used to love your class. But I think these past few classes were shits.”
I was confused. Stephanie was one of my best students. She always sat in front and answered all questions correctly last semester. I asked her right away what was wrong.
“Is it going to kill you to just outright say that racism is wrong, misogyny is wrong, homophobia is wrong, and Naziism is wrong? Why does it have to always have to be a healthy debate?” I was shocked by her response. I told her that I don’t think a teacher should just outright tell students what to think, especially when it comes to social issues.
I mean, of course, I think racism, misogyny, Naziism, and homophobia are wrong. But I guess I would feel like I was brainwashing the students if I just tell them: this is what you must believe.
Stephanie scoffed. “Well, now Benny and his gang think that you approved of their homophobia and misogyny. You didn’t want to correct them not because you are this free-thinker, but in reality you just want them to think that you are a “too cool to care” edge lord just like them, right? Do you think the disenfranchised people enjoy watching others debate whether or not they should have the right to exist and feel safe? How would you feel if one day the island natives have a healthy debate about whether you should live or die?” Stephanie then stormed out.
Needless to say, I was not in a good mood that evening. I took it out on the students playing survivors while I was playing as a killer on Dead by Daylight. After getting slaughtered the students were not happy. “AJ, why were you tunneling me?”
A student named Benny asked after I sacrificed him within fifteen minutes. I thought that was rich coming from Benny, who, as a killer, only played Leatherface and Facecamp-ed all his victims the entire match. My response was snarky. “Benny, why don’t you try hiding like the other survivors instead of running around the map like a decapitated chicken?” The other students laughed. Benny didn’t respond right away, which made me feel kind of bad. Benny eventually responded after about two minutes. “I can’t wait to eat your liver, AJ.” My heart dropped to the floor. Did Benny just threaten me? I was waiting for the other students to call him out on that comment, but they were silent. After about thirty seconds, Benny continued, “I bet your liver tastes delicious, AJ. I bet it is so sweet and juicy I won’t even need a chili sauce.” The day after, I tried to spin that whole experience as a teachable moment. I decided the next class lecture was going to be about influential people and why people are so divided over them.
I listed some controversial ‘a hero to some, a villain to others’ figures for them.

Hoping to have some more healthy debates. But the students do not have strong enough opinions about the figures that were so distant in relevance to them.
So, I did something that was probably the biggest mistake of my life. I asked them about the island's liver-eating hero, Sur-Linyao. Benny said that there’s nothing controversial about Sur-Linyao unless some douchebag wants to sympathize with the genocidal colonists he slaughtered.
I reminded Benny that if someone were to hear his comments in the previous class, they could accuse him of sympathizing with sexist racist homophobic Nazis too. Like an arrogant idiot, instead of leaving it at that, I decided it was healthy to hit them with some truth about Sur-Linyao.
Sur-Linyao was a horrifying villain to the islanders before the colonists arrived. He was a pirate after all. Sur-Linyao would regularly pillage several villages on the island, killing several innocent people in the process. Seeing the six-dots triangle jolly-roger from the distance must have been a nightmare for the islanders at the time.
And Sur-Linyao didn’t kill the colonists out of the goodness of his heart. There were pieces of evidence that showed Sur-Linyao worked with the colonists for years, and in the end, betrayed the colonists just because he wanted to rob them. Benny shook his head. He told me that several people in this class were direct descendants of Sur-Linyao, including him. I chuckled, thinking that he just WISHED he was a descendant of Sur-Linyao. But Benny said he could prove it.
More than half of the male students in the class stood up. They slightly tilted their head down but their eyes kept on looking forward, staring at me. Suddenly, their tongue started to slither out of their mouth. The tongues were too long, longer than a foot, but it was not the length that unsettled me, but the way it wiggled out of each of their mouth as if they were separate creatures. I was horrified looking at the dozen students standing in front of me, staring at me with their long tongues dangling out.
Benny then said, “Do you know what the six-dots triangle means, AJ? It means that the man seeing it was about to lose his liver.” I always parked my car a bit further away from the school because I didn’t want to fight with other faculty members over the parking space underneath the building. Besides, I didn’t mind walking a bit since there was a nice view of the ocean. As I was getting out of the car, I saw that someone painted the six-dots triangle on an abandoned water tank in the middle of the field. It was new, I didn’t see it the day before. And I was more than certain it was meant for me to see. No one parked where I parked and the surrounding area was abandoned.
I went and told the school administrator about this. They said that the six-dot triangle symbol was a symbol of Sur-Linyao who has pictures all over the island, including that symbol on his forehead.
It was not an intimidation symbol like a swastika and that I should relax.
Frustrated, I went back to my dorm. The view from my balcony was almost great, but there was a weird Ferris wheel-like structure blocking part of it. I didn’t even know what the circular structure was, but there seemed to be a bunch of neon light bulbs attached to it. I hoped it never got turned on or else I wouldn’t be able to sleep.
As I went into my closet, I found a T-shirt that was not mine. On it was a phrase, ‘I’m the Other White Meat’ on it. Why was this in my closet? Did the dry cleaner mix in someone else’s clothes with mine? Who would dry clean a T-shirt? I realized then that my room may have been broken into.
I was nervous and scared out of my mind. Am I being targeted or am I just overreacting? Is the entire island gaslighting me, or was it just Benny and his friends? Heck, it could have been Stephanie doing this, trying to teach me a lesson.
I opened Discord to see if some of my students want to play some games, but none of them were online, at least not in the group chat I set up. Some of them changed their profile picture to a six-dot triangle, including Benny.
That evening, I went to a gas station to fill up my car. As I was just about finished, I saw a truck coming down a steep hill, heading straight into the station. It was an old truck, but an intimidatingly large one, and loud. Then, I saw the six-dot triangle symbol painted on the side of the truck.
Logically, I shouldn’t have panicked. The symbol was a symbol of the island’s folk hero and the gas station is brightly lit and full of people. But out of nowhere, this feeling of dread overwhelmed me. The hair on my arm just rose straight up. I felt chills as if something was telling me to get out of the gas station now. I trusted my instinct and quickly started my bike and bolted out of there.
The next day, I walked past a hallway where a colleague named Beth was putting up a poster made by her students. The poster was showcasing English words that came from French. For some reason, there were also photos of faculty members floating alongside words like “Garage”, “à la carte”, and “Cache”.
I stopped in my track when I saw my photo with the word, ‘Foie Gras’ underneath it.
That word and my picture seemed so out of place being in its own little corner on the poster. I almost had a panic attack right there. Another threat? Are you kidding me? I thought. Beth asked me what was wrong. I decided to tell her.
That evening, I went to have dinner with Beth and her husband Jan on the beach. Just three White expats talking. I told them about what I had been experiencing in the past few days. The three dotted symbols painted where I parked, the comment from the student made on the game chat, the mysterious T-shirt, the racial profiling, all of it. “You are being very racist,” Beth said right at the very second I had just realized that I never really liked her.
She continued, “Don’t you get it, AJ? The students are threatening to eat your liver because they know you are a racist white man who thinks they were going to eat your liver. Kids will always try to exploit what they think the adults are afraid of. It’s your fault for showing them your cards.
Have you ever been outside of the States before? Do you not know how to be a minority? You came to an island paradise with so much special privilege but you suddenly have a male Karen racist nervous breakdown moment because you think that your teenage students are going to eat your liver? Quite frankly, I am very disappointed in you."
Her husband Jan tried to save the mood of the dinner. “So AJ, what are your plans for when the island shut off the power on July 7th?”
For one day every year, the island shut off all electricity for maintenance. Nothing electronic will work on that day, most importantly the ATM and the Internet. People, even the island natives, would go to the mainland for one day. There’s a problem with that idea. The ferry itself takes 3 hours to reach the mainland. And, with so many people thinking of doing the same thing, the line at the dock will be extremely long, both to the mainland in the morning, and back from the mainland in the evening.
For the last two years, I rode out the annual power outage by just chillaxing on the island. But this year, a Facebook post by Benny made me reconsider.

“I just want to say, my favorite teacher is AJ. He surely delivered. And soon I will de-liver him.”

Jan said that he and Beth will drive their speedboat to the mainland, which is 5 times faster than the ferry. They are also taking the rector with them. Judging from the way Beth glared at me, I don’t think she will say yes if I asked her if I could come too.
On the day of the power outage, I waited almost five hours in line to get my car onto the ferry. The ticket machine no longer works so everything was written on a notecard with pen and paper, which I found amusing. When the ticket man came to my car. He said to me that I have to wait for the next one. I looked at the ferry and it was not even half full. I asked him why and he pretended to suddenly not understand English.
I looked in my rearview mirror and then saw it, the truck with the six-dot triangle painted on its side only three cars behind me. How did it get there? I didn’t see it behind me before. I realized then that the truck wanted to get on the next ferry with me. I told the ticket holder that I will leave my car there and I will get on the leaving ferry with just me. Before he could say anything, I quickly maneuvered out of the line and parked in front of a cafe. The ticket boy said I couldn’t park there. I asked him if he owned the cafe, then quickly ran and jumped onto the suddenly departing Ferry.
After riding the ferry many times, I figured out that the top deck gave me the least motion sickness. I climbed up there and found a surprising person. Stephanie. She smiled at me, which made me so glad. I didn’t think what I did was something so bad that she would be holding a long grudge anyway. We made small talk, I asked her about what she was planning on doing for the day, etc. After a bit, I couldn’t help myself and showed her Benny’s Facebook post. I always thought she didn’t like Benny. I told her I was disappointed in him and was so shocked that he would threaten me like that.
I looked up at Stephanie and was shocked to see her eyes bulged out and her foot-long tongue dangling from her mouth. “Just like Voltaire, I may disagree with what Benny says, but I will defend to the death his right to say it." I was so scared, I backed away automatically. But, the teacher in me still corrected her and said that Voltaire didn’t say that. She laughed, “Good. Voltaire was a smart person. Only an idiot would say something like that.”
I moved down to the lowest level where the cars and the smoking passengers were. I tried not to fall asleep as I could feel the eyes of the other passengers staring at me.
The sound of people barfing almost made me want to barf myself. I went and sat on the edge of the front of the ferry. The wind blowing into my face did calm me a little. I was scared and frustrated. I wondered if I should just never go back to the island after reaching the mainland.
After looking at my watch and realizing that it had been three hours, I looked out the window and saw what made my soul leave my body. We were heading to the island? I didn’t even realize we had turned around.
I asked the ferry driver what was going on. He said there was a storm coming and he has to head back. Besides, it was already close to 5 PM, and the power should be coming back on soon.
I was extremely angry that I was about to be back on the island. Stephanie was nowhere to be found on the ferry also. Since I was farsighted, I could see the tires of my car were slashed.
There were also a couple of men standing there doing nothing, blocking my path toward my car. There was no longer any doubt in my mind that the natives were planning to do something to me. I was targeted and was about to be beaten or killed for whatever reason.
I surprised them all by jumping from the ferry before it was properly docked and sprinting in the opposite direction of where my car was. I climbed up the steep hills next to the road leading to the dock and disappeared into the woods The light was not coming back on and it was getting dark.
I was shaking in fear but I had to calm myself so I could think of the next move with a clear head. I wondered if Beth and Jan came back from the mainland yet. I could ask them to use their boat or at least hide me, and if they say no, at this point, I was at a level of desperation where I was willing to just cause chaos until they let me. On my way to their house, I had to pass my dorm. I considered going to gather some of my things until I saw something moving in the dark.
I almost peed my pants from fright when I saw a floating pair of eyeballs approaching my dorm. Despite everything else being in complete darkness, the eyes of a person and his dangling red tongue were glowing in the dark. I had never seen anything like this. Several more pairs of eyeballs and long red tongues emerged from the dark woods.
I couldn’t tell if the floating eyeballs and tongue belonged to Benny or any of my students, but they were right outside my dorm. As my eyes started to get used to the darkness and started to see shapes, I could see that they were each holding a machete. I quietly made my way to Beth and Jan’s house. When I got to their boathouse, there were flies everywhere. I tried to brush them away, but I could feel the thickness of the swarm. I felt like I was touching a bunch of floating chunks of meat.
I saw their boat at the dock. So did they come back? But why wouldn’t they turn on their boat’s light? I finally decided to use my phone flashlight to help me search for the boat key inside the boat house. I didn’t use my phone earlier because I was trying to conserve battery and also I didn’t want to draw attention to where I was. As soon as I shined the phone’s flashlight inside the boathouse, I was shocked to find the hacked-up heads of Beth, Jan, and the school’s rector covered in flies. Suddenly, I heard a wood creaking sound coming from outside. I quickly grabbed the boat key and jumped into the couple’s speed boat.
I hurriedly start the boat and just drove off, not caring about anything else. I used my phone’s compass to find the direction towards the mainland and I just kept going.
Suddenly, lights came back on the island. It shined brightly behind me as a nuclear bomb had just been detonated. I couldn’t help but look back, and then I saw it: a giant face formed by the neon lights, making the entire island look like it had a demonic face. The circular Ferris-wheel-like structure that was outside my dorm’s balcony was part of one of the giant face’s eyes.
I told myself to just ignore it and kept on driving. It was their world and they didn’t want me in it. I could do nothing but kept on going into the darkness.

I know we should not focus on the size of the sin, but rather on who we are disobeying. However, for the purpose of increasing knowledge and understanding, are there different levels of haram when it comes to a person exposing their awrah or looking at someone else's exposed awrah?
I would assume that a man in public wearing nothing but a speedo is a worse sin than a man wearing a T-shirt and shorts which are a few inches above the knee... I would assume that a woman in public wearing nothing but a bikini is a worse sin than a woman fully dressed except not wearing a headscarf... However I could be wrong and they could be equally sinful?
Likewise, I would assume that the level of haram when looking at someone else (from most bad to least) would be: private parts > chest/bottom > legs/belly > arms > hair - but, again, I could be wrong and they could all be equally sinful?
I know we are not held accountable for our first sight as long as we immediately lower our gaze, but sadly in today's society, especially in the West, and especially during summer, it is impossible not to see men walking around shirtless or women walking around in crop tops and miniskirts. In my opinion, we should avoid places like beaches for this reason. But we cannot avoid walking down the street. How can a man never view a woman's hair??
There is a difference between "seeing", "looking" and "checking out" of course. If a person views someone else with no lustful intention, are they still in sin? And are there different levels of sin for different parts of the awrah?

So my husband (28M) and I (28F) moved out to the UK for my education this past October. Later that same month I found out he had been trying to cheat on me (endless attempts) throughout our 2 and a half year marriage and even before it. I would easily have excused the pre-marriage attempts as long as he’d made an effort to change afterwards, at the very least. But he did no such thing. In fact, he was still trying after we got to the UK. That’s how he got caught in the first place. The thing is, it was mostly virtual and they were all mostly failed attempts. There were some women from real life, one of them who came to our house pretending she was his next wife, and I had no clue why.
Cheating for me has always been the worst of it and I warned him against it a million more times than a partner should have to, probably because my father is a serial cheater as well.
If this were a relationship, I would have walked out the very same day I found out, no questions asked. After 2-ish months, when the stories just kept coming, I decided I would have to leave and the families had to get involved. That’s when I paused: I saw how much pain I’d be causing. My family supported me but wouldn’t it still be hard for them? More so, I would be hurting his family so so much. I’ve always been so invested and devoted. And to top it off, what guarantee do I even have that I’ll be okay afterwards? That I won’t be upset or miss him or never find another person or be miserable as I was pre-marriage (my family life was always hell)? Am I just being ungrateful? He’s nice otherwise? I dreamed he was cheating on me a couple of times and he allayed my fears so seamlessly. But later he confessed those were the times he had been ruminating over it. Still went ahead anyway. I saw a similar dream this past month, I think. And he was sheepish, he’d thought of it again.
I also caught him once before marriage but he had deleted the content so I had no idea what exactly had happened. I was leaving right there and then but the 2 friends I confided in told me to give him a chance. I so wish I hadn’t.
The worst part about this whole situation is that he gets to cheat but I get to make the big burdensome decision that changes everything, causes so much pain. I don’t find that fair. I don’t find anything fair.
These past few months I’ve just been trying very hard to make it work but I think I’m dreaming of escapes? I live everyday waiting for death so I won’t have to live with this discrepancy in my heart. There’s something missing in me now, something I used to feel for him.
I told him in December, right after finding out another story, that I loved him and cared about him and could be his friend to comfort and soothe him but I could never be his wife again. But after that, I’ve tried, I’ve really tried. But I don’t think I’m wonderfully better.
My question is, if I leave, am I being ungrateful? Is this something I should compromise on, seeing as he might never do it again? I know I have to make this decision but I feel too weak, I don’t know why. When I had to marry him, I had so much conviction and strength and now nothing. Am I being a bad person seeing as he wants to try as well and love bombs me? Will I regret it?

Hello everyone,
I'd like to (once again) write some more of my personal opinions regarding Swain's gameplay design currently, which I think even though it's pretty good, he still needs, I'd say one more mid scope for him to satisfy the dedicated players' expectations of the champion. I am a high diamond - master Swain OTP, I've been playing him for the past 3 years, witnessed 2 of his mini reworks. I "fell in love" with Swain because of his lore / voice lines and his design overall, alongside that amazing feeling of playing him during his R. I am really devoted to Swain and this is why I'm going through this, because I think he could be further tweaked to reach his maximum gameplay potential which would make me very happy. I've been posting reworks and ideas for long, but in this post I'm going to focus on the problems and not the solutions, having in mind my experience, and the... honestly, infinite amounts of texting with fellow Swain mains about his gameplay state. Brace yourselves, and let's dive in.
First of all a quick definition of Swain's fantasy. What should Swain's role be? Most of us would agree here, Swain is a frontline DPS Mage, or a battlemage.
With that in mind, the champion has some "feels bad" aspects that don't fit with that fantasy. While reading these I want you to understand how each of these problems connect with each other. I'd also like to note that the problems are not sorted in importance order. They're all equally important.
First. His full AoE kit. Having a full AoE kit means a lot of "ambient" damage. Low single target damage means bad late game, where bursting down a squishy ADC matters the most, AoE abilities have bad AP ratios, and in Swain's Q case, it sort of has "single target", ratio, but it requires the Swain to be in melee range which is pretty hard to do on priority targets like ADCs in late game. Look at Vladimir and Anivia, who have similar AoE levels with Swain in their kits but also have a strong single target spell that maintains their agency throughout the entire game.
This problem is further messed up with R2. R2 provides some amount of burst in a teamfight so Swain can have some good "single target" damage in the late game (R2 is almost always used to burst down squishies with a single combo). But R2 is AoE, so it's gatekeeped behind high base damage and a relatively low ratio so its snowballing potential in mid-game is balanced. But apart from that, with how R2 is right now, Swain's playstyle throughout the game shifts from wanting to fight as long as possible ... to.... go in, use R2, and hope you do enough for your team to clean up. This obviously relates with his E design, which I'll explore later.
Pre-VGU Swain kept a great balance between single target and AoE, with his ultimate being his best AoE damage tool. This brings us to the next problem
For Swain to be a relevant frontliner in all stages of the game, he doesn't need good healing ratio. He needs good AoE damage. The healing, although satisfying in early-mid game, is very easily countered and makes Swain feel useless in later stages of the game, especially in teamfights (ignites are more common/ one person uses GW), where Swain is supposed to excel at.
Look at fiddlesticks. He has one insanely good AoE spell and guess what? That enforces Fiddlesticks players to drop in the middle of the enemy team and destroy everyone. Fiddlesticks doesn't rely on his healing and prayers to succeed in a teamfight, but he relies on decision making and positioning which are things that remain relevant in all elos.
With pre-VGU Swain, we see that his R1 drain had twice the AP ratio of current R1. This means Swain players are further enforced to frontline by doing a lot of AoE to 2,3 + targets. AoE damage and not healing is what makes a DPS mage want to frontline.
Another problem is the unreliability in his E and W abilities, mainly focusing on E.
Don't get me wrong, his E is a very, very strong spell. Perhaps a bit too good, and this is what I'm trying to explain.
The power his E pull has is insane in every stage of the game and one could argue that his pull's agency is what remains high, even in late game. However, a pull / hook is best in a support champion, let's face it. There's a reason every good pull champion is in support. You might not see where I'm going with this yet but hold on. A pull ability has its maximum value when you have more than one person attacking the pulled target, thus why pull champions are always in support. However, those champions that have powerful CC hooks come with a trade off: they do very low amounts of damage.
Swain is trying to be balanced across both support and mid lane. Even though he has a mediocre or a bad hook, it's obvious, just by seeing how Swain's playerbase is distributed, that it's still very powerful when it's followed up by ADC damage or other teammates. So, in the end, both Swain support and mid/top are hurt by this. Swain's ratios are lowered, thus impacting solo lanes, and supports are provided with a mediocre hook, alongside low scaling damage, making him, as stats verify, a good pick in low elo and a very bad pick in higher elos, where supports are very crucial and important.
Compare Swain's current E with his Pre-VGU counterpart, his old W. His old W was not a pull but a AoE similar to current W, but in the end, it rooted instead of slowing. So just by not having a pull Swain's solo lane potential was more favoured, by having higher damage ratios across his entire kit. Furthermore, his W ability was perfect for Swain's role in the game as a frontline battlemage: It was perfect for when people were close to Swain, and it was also perfect as a follow-up from let's say a Zac E or Nautilus Q, followed up with Swain's R , Q , E etc.
About Swain's W. Swain's W alone is a very good spell. It's perfectly designed. However, it further enhances Swain's utility for his teammates and not his own potential. And I think enough power budget is spent in utility, in his E. I think wild rift, keeping in mind the limitations in gameplay because of touch screen and smaller map, it still IMO made a good choice to lower Swain's W range and make its damage scale further if paired with his E.
Next up is the passive. Swain's HP stacking passive favours support a TON. It provides a stat that isn't relying on gold but on hitting an ability (that is easier to hit on a duo lane). That alone helps you understand.
For solo lane Swain the passive makes 0 sense. It made sense for a while after the mid scope... That is, until RoA got back in the game. You see, the only use solo lane Swain has for the passive is early game survivability. 12 HP matter most when you have low max HP. Swain needed this early game survivability because he had no HP from any items until his 3rd item (the core build was Liandrys > Zhonyas back then). This change was not reverted when RoA was re-introduced, so we're stuck with a version of Swain that has low AP damage ratios and high HP, thus not benefitting a lot from RoA, and AP overall, so Swain's build paths slowly evolved into Liandrys > Rylais > (Ocassional) oblivion orb > Tank items. Tank items, although they keep Swain relevant in later stages of the game, still don't make him feel as he should, like in pre-VGU versions of him, and don't really help him stay alive much longer because his R healing scales off of AP.
This leads us to our next problem: low need for AP.
All of the above issues (Avengers, Assemble.) like too much AoE, low AP ratios (which relates with the too much AoE problem), relatively long R cooldown (because of R2), make him be reliant not on AP, but on... spell effects. That's not how a mage should work. Even though these problems are often complained about by Swain players, with band-aid fixes like remove the ability of R to apply spell effects, they are not the core issues. Swain feeling like he "abuses" spell effects is the result of all the above issues listed, combined. It's not the problem itself. His R being a big AoE isn't the problem that makes him feel bad/ feel like he abuses spell effects and nothing else.
And... bad AP itemization.
Swain is an AP juggernaut, but, apart from HP, AP items lack the tankiness he needs. This connects with his passive problem (remember, I told you to try and understand how these problems connect with each other), since now with RoA back, champions like Swain, who need to be able to be in the frontlines, have that needed HP. Swain, either in his kit (passive?) or his items, needs real anti-burst solutions. Swain would love an AP version of Death's Dance. We see that after Liandrys > Rylais, and maybe Zhonyas added to the build, Swain literally has no good AP options for his playstyle. Thankfully, with abyssal mask's rework, Swain is now one of the best users of it, and it's good for magic resistance, but in the case of physical damage, Zhonyas is simply not enough to prevent Swain from getting bursted. However, this might not be needed if all the above problems are fixed. If Swain gains good single target damage, he shouldn't also be unkillable in the late game.
If you're still reading, I want to thank you and conclude with my final point. After all this, try to understand how well designed Swain's pre-VGU kit was. Yes, maybe it felt clunky, yes , the visuals were outdated, but the core kit design which includes stuff like: Q = Single target DoT damage, W = AoE root, E = single target damage multiplier, R = big AoE damage and healing, overall it had a perfect balance between everything. In my opinion pre-VGU Swain could be ASU'ed instead of VGU'ed (maybe with some more number or tiny mechanical touches) and he would be perfectly fine, and Swain's popularity would certainly rise.

I am almost finished packing for 2 week trip to Europe. We are flying into Amsterdam, then we’ll take the train to Paris, and then to London before flying home from London.
I am a plus size woman and always looking to hear how other women like me onebag. So I decided to share my packing experience.
This is not my first time onebagging but it is my first time with this bag. I am using a roll top bag by Reload. I’ve tried clam shells and they just don’t work as well for my size clothing. I also don’t like a lot of miscellaneous pockets because they mostly end up unused. I prefer different size cubes and small bags to coral my stuff within my bag.
Here is what I am packing (items worn will be listed separately):

• 2 tanks for layering
• 1 long sleeve lightweight sun protection shirt (it is see through and needs to be layered)
• 1 3/4 sleeve sun protection top
• 1 short sleeve bohemian style top
• 1 black tee that can be worn in 3 different styles (tank or tee, flowy front or crew neck)
• 1 sleeveless flowy blouse
• 1 flowy black dressy pants (these feel like sweatpants but look dressy)
• 1 black pants with straight legs (again feel like sweatpants but are structured)
• 1 bohemian pattern lightweight sun protection pants)
• 3 pairs merino socks
• 4 pairs mesh panties
• 2 no thigh rub shorts to wear under sun pants and as PJs
• 1 cotton t shirt for sleeping/lounging
• bra

My toiletries are limited as I don’t wear makeup and will use items the hotels provide. I also try to avoid liquids as much as possible. - small deodorant - nasal spray - steroid cream - toothpaste pills (chew up and it makes a paste to brush with) - powers toothbrush - Bobby pins and combs - travel hair straightener - sunglasses - extra prescription glasses - glasses wipes - liners, tampons and pads - medicine (prescription, Advil, nexium, misc.)
For technology, I travel light when the trip is for pleasure. - kindle (fully charged with books preloaded in airplane mode) - charger that switches out plug types for both EU and UK style plugs - this will charge my phone and my power bank. - power bank that is about the size of a phone - misc port converters (lightning to aux for headphone, usb a to usb c) - lightning earbuds (I don’t use them except on the plane/train, so it’s not worth bringing Bluetooth ones.)
What I’ll wear: - blank pants (dupe of structured ones I packed) - layering tank - black flowy top - gray jean jacket - merino socks - alegria slip on shoes (my only pair of shoes) - bucket hat - long silver necklace - bra and mesh panties
I’ll also have an inflatable travel pillow with a hood so I can cover my face while sleeping on the plane/train. And I’ll have a small belt bag/sling for my phone, wallet, keys, passport, lip gloss, and a few snacks.
And that’s it! I love having all my stuff in one bag and being able to just go. I will wash panties in the shower with me. The rest can likely be re worn after airing it and steaming it while in the shower. I won’t be swimming or exercising (aside from walking). The forecast looks decent so I’m not bringing a rainy coat. I’ll get a cheap umbrella if needed. I really try to stay away from packing my fears. It’s not always perfect, but anything forgotten can be replaced during the trip, especially in such mainstream places.
The roll top will give me the chance to add a few souvenirs and gifts along the way. And if there is something big I want, I will likely ship it home.

Chinese Unmanned Ground Vehicles Fleet

As the Ukraine Crisis has shown, unmanned vehicles, wherever they are deployed, will play a huge role in the conflicts to come. Due to their unmanned nature, they allow for riskier operations to be undertaken as no human lives are lost, while also giving them much greater endurance than anything that includes a human. Therefore, the People’s Republic of China has decided to double down on the idea of Unmanned Ground Vehicles, working on developing a new fleet of UGVs, which will be introduced into the People’s Liberation Army as soon as they finish their respective development.
With their introduction, the People’s Liberation Army will become the first armed forces in the world to truly mass-introduce several types of unmanned ground vehicles into service, these ranging from “simple” logistics vehicles to high-tech combat vehicles designed to fight the enemy at the front. Due to their new nature, it will take time for all UGVs to be introduced into the PLA, however China expects thousands of these UGVs to be in service with the PLA no later than late 2027. Already, capacities are being increased to allow for the mass-production of these unmanned vehicles the second they are completed, which although risky and costlier than waiting has been seen as the right course of action by the Central Military Commision
All UGVs fielded by the People’s Liberation Army will have the ability to operate completely autonomously, however will also be set up to allow for human input and control. As of now, it is not planned to give full autonomy to these vehicles. Security has been another major concern for the Central Military Commision, with the risk of an enemy hacking these vehicles and disabling them - or worse turning them on the People’s Liberation Army. Therefore, a rigorous security check and system.
The UGVs will utilize a form of AES with 256-bit encryption, a standard recognized by many as nigh-impenetrable, allowing for the establishment of a robust data transmission system between the UGVs and other authorized systems. Furthermore, the UGVs will employ a secure boot process that verifies the integrity of the software and hardware during its startup phase. Should any discrepancies be discovered, the UGV will alert authorized systems and shut down, preventing any adversaries from effectively using any exploit. In order to further secure the UGVs, all software components utilized by the vehicles will be digitally signed using secure code signing certificates, allowing the system to authenticate if the software update or change is actually planned, and not a hacking attempt. Continuous monitoring of critical software components and systems will be installed, and any discrepancies will trigger immediate alerts, and result in the UGV isolating affected systems.
The unmanned ground vehicles will also make use of network segregation, meaning that isolated communication channels will be established within the internal network of the vehicles, preventing unauthorized access to critical systems and limiting the effects of a potential breach. Lastly, the UGVs will undergo regular penetration testing and security audits by a team of specialized hackers and cybersecurity experts. Should any gaps in the UGVs defense be found, or problems encountered, these will be rectified as soon as possible through updates, patches or system hardening measures. These updates themselves will undergo rigorous testing for any potential malware by cybersecurity experts.
Zhanshi-X1 Combat UGV
The Zhanshi-X1 Combat UGV will be the main combat UGV of the People’s Liberation Army Ground Forces, supporting Chinese soldiers in any future conflict. It is armed with a 40 millimeter automatic cannon, a 35 millimeter automatic grenade launcher and four anti-tank guided missiles, resulting the the Zhanshi-X1 packing a serious punch that will noticeably up the firepower of units equipped with it. In order to ensure the Zhanshi survives the battlefield, it will be armored with composite and modular armor, which can be added or removed if needed. This armor will protect the UGV from small arms fire, as well as possibly from smaller-caliber automatic cannon rounds. Despite a length of 6 meters, a width of 3 meters and a height of 2.5 meters, the X1 will be able to reach a maximum speed of 50 km/h, thanks to its innovative hybrid electric drive system. It has been designed to be as low-observable as possible, with reduced thermal and acoustic signatures to make its detection as difficult as possible. As Zhanshi-X1s will rarely be deployed on their own, they come with a cooperative software which allows them to seamlessly integrate into larger military operations.

Weishi-E1 Engineering UGV
The Weishi E-1 Engineering UGV will operate in a support role to the PLAGF, helping support the operations of troops. It will be equipped with a modular system which allows a myriad of tools to be installed, such as bulldozer blades, cranes and other devices which would be of great help for operations. As the Weishi-E1 will be on the front lines, it will be heavily armored, resistant to small arms and smaller explosive charges, as well as have all terrain capabilities, able to be deployed everywhere. Due to its role, it is quite a large vehicle, with a height of 7 meters, a width of 3.5 meters and a height of 2.8 meters, however it will still include reduced thermal and acoustic signatures. The Weishi-E1 will have software to not only operate in major military operations, but also to allow for several Weishi-E1s to work together in complex engineering tasks, such as the construction of bridges or larger fortifications.

Xunlu-S1 Reconnaissance UGV
The Xunlu-S1 Reconnaissance UGV will play a large and important role in the future of the People’s Liberation Army reconnaissance strategy. Equipped with long-range surveillance cameras, radar systems and advanced sensors, the Xunlu-S1 will help PLA commanders have a very detailed picture of any possible battle or environment. In order to allow for greater reconnaissance capabilities, the Xunlu-S1 also comes equipped with the necessary equipment to launch four “Huángfēng - Zhī” reconnaissance units, which can fly up to 100 kilometers and have an endurance of up to 2 hours. The vehicle has all-terrain capabilities, and has been designed with stealth in mind, with a low profile design, reduced visual, thermal and acoustic signatures, as well as advanced sensors for detecting possible enemy reconnaissance. With a length of 4 meters, a width of 2.5 meters and a height of 1.8 meters, it is a very sleek vehicle. The software will allow for any and all information to immediately be transferred to Chinese commanders and troops.

Yunshu-L1 Logistics UGV
The Yunshu-L1 Logistics UGV will be introduced into the People’s Liberation Army to help with the delivery of payloads to and from the front. In order for this task to be completed, it will be equipped with all-terrain capabilities, allowing it to reach anywhere where Chinese troops find themselves. As it is expected to be used along the very front line of fighting, it will be heavily armored, which is partially why the vehicle is so large, with a length of 5 meters, a width of 3 meters and a height of two meters. It will have a streamlined design which allows for easy placing and removing of payloads on and off of the Yunshu-L1.

Huoguan-F1 Fire Support UGV
The Huoguan-F1 Fire Support UGV will play a supporting role, augmenting the artillery systems currently operated by the People’s Liberation Army. Armed with a 122mm howitzer, the system has been designed with an advanced fire control system which can plug into the current Chinese Command & Control infrastructure, allowing for great firepower and effective target engagement when Huoguan-F1s work together with other artillery units. With a length of 6.5 meters, a width of 3.2 meters and a height of 2.3 meters, the Huoguan-F1 is one of the larger UGVs within the Chinese arsenal. Xiaolu-M1 Loitering Munitions UGV
The Xiaolu-M1 Loitering Munitions UGV has been specially designed to launch loitering munitions of the “Huángfēng” family. Together, these two systems make a dangerous and capable combination, able to strike anything from enemy headquarters and high-value targets to armored vehicles and infantry units - and everything in between. The vehicle is relatively unarmored and light, designed to launch its payload and quickly get out of there, resupply its loitering munitions and repeat the cycle. To increase its survivability, it has been designed to ensure that it is as stealthy as possible, with a compact design (3.5 meters x 2 meters x 1.5 meters) and radar-absorbing materials. It will be able to operate together with other Xiaolu-M1s, allowing for hundreds of loitering munitions to be launched in a single attack, overwhelming enemy air defenses and wreaking havoc on enemy equipment, soldiers and morale.

Chongji-D1 Electronic Warfare UGV
On the battlefields of the future, electronic warfare will become even more important. As armies continue to ride ever deeper into the digital age, it also means that their sensors and electronics become an ever greater risk. The Chongji-D1 will allow China to disrupt enemy sensors and communications on the battlefield, with the UGV fielding electronic warfare equipment, including jammers and spoofers, as well as signal intelligence sensors. In battle, the Chongji-D1s will be deployed en-masse along the front to hamper enemy signals, as well as to gain access to their communications. To do this, they will be built using radar-absorbing materials, electronic countermeasures, camouflage and other things to ensure maximum survivability. The length of the Chongji-D1 is 4.5 meters, the width 2.5 meters and the height 2 meters, a somewhat more compact design compared to other UGVs currently being designed and developed.

When trans people shit on each other they are not punching up or punching down, because the groups are equal.
Both groups suffer a shit ton, trans women may think they suffer more because of their visibility, and because of being women, but trans men face a fuck ton of adversity, and are often expected to keep it to themselves because they are men, and men are served by the patriarchy. However, trans men don't just develop male privilege the second they realize they're trans, nor the second they come out, and even once they pass, their privilege is easily lost once people learn they are trans. On top of that, support for trans people is generally geared specifically for trans women, and are left to fend for themselves...
Both groups shit on each other, for varying reasons. This makes sense to me, each group is going in the opposite direction, trying to escape the thing the other group is desperately trying to attain, obviously they're going to have differing thoughts and feelings, as well as experiences. However. If your shitting on the other group is just comparing them to their AGAB, that's just transphobia. You can call out shitty behaviour without making jabs at people's identity and without making sexist remarks. And no, it doesn't matter who started it. If you're engaging in this behaviour, even as retaliation, you're just being a transphobic piece of shit.
Trans men have valid struggles, trans women have valid struggles. Trans men can have shitty behaviour, trans women can have shitty behaviour. It's fine to talk about these things, but don't do it in a way that characterizes one group as the victim and one as the villain. Both can harm the other, both can suffer at the hands of the other, neither is superior. They are equals.

I have some friends with very out in the open personalities and sometimes even when I'm by myself I'll think of the goofy things they say like calling a guy a "Man Dime" when they dress a certain way particularly in ripped blue jeans and white ribbed tank tops. . Or an old man downtown who is talking loudly to himself and us doing Bad Lip Read theater to each other to script what he might be saying.
Do you all have situations where this is part of your day to break up the monotony?

For me Shiv’s doubts started when Kendall was given a chance to speak on his vision of the company and he could only said “GoJo is a bad deal, I have a deck with our financials, but who cares let’s just vote”— he had a chance to win more people to his side, but he was all show. At that point I think Shiv understood there was a huge chance Kendall was going to squander everything and maybe just like Matsson just cut her off after he got the crown and maybe even tank the share price with his wild ideas.
If he didn’t go psycho on her, if Kendall could have stood in front of the board and said “Shiv and Roman will be a huge part of the company running ATN and socials” she would have voted yes.
She chose Matsson, because she walks away with money and a sniff of power with Tom, who she is still trying to have a relationship with, even without knowing he was gunning for CEO.
The GoJo deal was a serious deal, Kendall isn’t a serious person. He’s a good showman, but not a business killer, he’s never been— he always loses, he thinks he’s him, but always falls short. He’s a mess.
Roman is most definitely also not a serious person.
Shiv, thinks she is, but she isn’t one either.
Tom is a serious person who would do anything to be in power, he came from “nothing” so he understands he needs to scheme his way to the top, just like Logan did at one point.
The siblings are all bullshit, not sure why people think Shiv “stole” anything from Kendall, he did that himself.

The title. What's the reason behind playing an adc on top? Every time i see this i want to just quit the match and do something else with my time.
If you know the enemy plays adc on top as well i have no problem with it but most of the time you will play adc against a tank or bruiser. You have advantage for 2 minutes to farm a few minions and then what? Unless your opponent is playing with his feet you get outscaled and are left behind so badly you are worthless for the rest of the game. We already have an adc on bot, an enchanter support and assassin mid. We are so squishy already and you pick adc top. No cc, no utility and you need too much time to get your items to even deal some damage. So why?
Some might see this as another post complaining. While, yes, i am complaining and frustrated im also genuinely curious. Could someone explain this phenomenon?

Hello all,
Yesterday, we went to refill our tank of propane in advance of our Memorial Day cookout. When we got home, we hooked it up as per usual, and left it. This morning, we came out back, and smelled a ton of propane. Apparantly, the dials on top of the grill were left in the on position, and the tank went from full to empty in less than 24 hours. Is there any danger in using the grill today, and how long will it take for it to clear up?
