I'm from Hong Kong, thinking about a trip to Turkey and the Middle East during Christmas period. I would likely spend 2-3 weeks there.
Which countries and cities do you recommend the most for a history nerd and admirer of architecture both ancient and modern?
For my traveling experience, I have only been to the relatively safe and rich countries in Europe before. As for my budget for the whole trip, I'm thinking about US $2500-$3500.
I've done a bit of basic research. For Turkey, I would likely spend 5 days in Istanbul and 2-3 days in Antalya. But I'm not sure about Izmir and Selcuk.
I'm interested in Egypt, but not MUST GO interested, and Reddit is doing its hardest to discourage me from going there. Besides, I'm a solo traveler who isn't used to group travel and having a guide, which is recommended by the people here?
I'm highly interested in Israel, but it seems it can only be reached from Istanbul. I'm also not sure about its safety, particularly in Jerusalem. Google says it's very safe, but online articles have the reputation of painting everything in sunshine and rainbows. Besides, it seems it's not easy to navigate the city and the surrounding region using public transport, as I can't drive.

My wife (31F) and I (31M) have been in a 6 year relationship and married for the past year. We moved to New Zealand together around 4 years ago to start a new life, as we both loved the country, outdoors and lifestyle. But we have no family or prior affiliations here.
In the past 2 years, my wife made a friendship group with work colleagues whom i then befriended. One of the colleagues (32M) and my wife appeared to get on really well, and my wife said she felt there was a close friendship there.
Over the past few months, we have moved jobs/ area and bought a house. We have struggled with communication at times, and this has led to our sex life becoming less frequent- although we didn't make steps to address it.
I noticed my wife becoming quite distant since we bought our house. I also noted that she was spending a lot of time texting, switching off her phone screen when i entered the room, changing her phone password. It was around this time that she had recently spent a few times with the other guy in the group, once going to a concert with him. I felt secure in our relationship and i knew the guy pretty well- he is also in a relationship (with another girl in the group) and so initially i trusted that nothing was going on.
As my wife became more distant however, i started to suspect. I saw early one morning that a text came through from the guy, which i thought was odd given the timing. As the days passed i couldn't help but think that something had happened between them- so i checked her messages and saw the conversation between them. They both confessed feelings for each other, my wife confided in him about our marriage issues, she spoke about how she missed/ appreciated him. They both said how they were close to kissing each other on a few occassions.
I confronted my wife about it, and she admitted to the emotional affair. She was initially apologetic and felt ashamed, and i forgave her quite quickly. I said how i needed time for things to cool off with the guy before she spent time with this group again, but i asked that she would not meet up with him one on one. She agreed. We agreed to work on our marriage, and that night we had intimate sex with each other which felt great.
But later the next day, she mentioned how a girl in the group was planning a group activity this month, and my wife saw no problem in going (with the other guy being there). She then minimised and denied the emotional cheating issues, stating that i had misinterpreted things and they were just friends.
I told her that going back to this group so soon, could jeopardize our marriage, and she responded by saying that she did not want to feel socially isolated. She said that i shouldn't give her ultimatums. I ended up storming out the house, as i felt betrayed and disrespected.
TL;DR- my wife had an emotional affair with a man in her main friendship group. She does not want to avoid seeing the group (with the man present) for the near future, despite me clearly stating that this could jeopardize our marriage. She does not want the rest of the group (including the gf of the other man) to know. Would really appreciate some thoughts/ opinions.

I'd like to find someone who captivates me. Someone who I can talk with effortlessly. I want to meet a person who I can include in my daily tasks, and talk with throughout the day. I love a number of things, and hate very little. I'm fairly open to trying new things, but some of the things I enjoy are as follows. I love the outdoors. I've never been camping, but I would like to try it with someone some day. I also love to fish. I mostly fish salt water. I do occasionally fish freshwater though. I'm honestly an ambivert. I enjoy doing things outside, as well as spending time indoors. I can veg out all day under the covers curled up in my bed, or I can take a trip somewhere and experience something new. I think my personality is a mix of the best of both worlds. As far as my personality is concerned, I would say I am fairly relaxed and laid back. I feel like I am somewhere in the middle between loud and excitable, and shy and quiet. Around people I don't know, I tend to be fairly quiet and to myself. In the company of someone who I am close with, I am more open and free. Do you open right up to people, or does it take a while to become comfortable with someone new?
All I hope for is a connection. It could be platonic, or it could blossom into romance, and commitment. I'm not putting a limit on what I am looking for.

But then my friends ~~illegally downloaded~~ *ahem* taped the first two episodes, so I joined them in watching it anyway, expecting the worst. "Pilot, Part 1" didn't do much for me (because of the ads, I was still convinced it was just a dinosaur), but everything changed the moment the polar bear arrived.
After that I was obsessed.
I taped every episode, and was so paranoid that if one tape broke I'd be SOL until the DVDs were released, so I gave every episode its own tape. I literally have 100+ VHS tapes of the original airings of the show.
Every Wednesday, I'd watch the new episode. Then the next night I would watch it again. And then the following week, I'd watch it again the night before the new episode aired. Then I would binge the current season once or twice around Christmas.
Because I was obsessed.
The only regret I have is that I'm not a LOST University graduate. I wish I had participated in that, but I had a shitty summer job that year that I hated and was constantly stressed about, so I didn't do it.
The mystery of who the Others are was solved on the show, but somehow it's remained in my subconscious. I still have recurring dreams about who they are and where they come from. The dream goes like this: I'm on the Island, and I key into this ultramodern, air conditioned building. Then I take an elevator downstairs, but when the doors open, I'm not in any building anymore, I'm outdoors in some kind of extradimensional world, yet another sunny beach island that is somehow in the basement of the building on the first Island. It's here where the Others live.
Does anyone else who was a fan from back then still have recurring dreams about the show? I get them about twice a year. I've watched LOST through only twice since 2010, and the last time was in 2017.

We have been living in Salt Lake City they last 8-9 years and thinking it might be time to move on. Only a few places in the country look appealing and Big Sky area seem really appealing. I listed a couple things I am looking to get away from / enjoy about my current area, any additional insight from locals in the area would be awesome! We have spent a lot of long weekends over the past 5+ years visiting, so we have a general sense of the area for a quick trip but would really love a locals insight on what its like full time.
Dislikes about SLC:

consistently poor air quality every time of the year now. Impacts the desire to do outdoor activities when air quality is often above 90aqi and gets into the hundreds
very religious population / controlled state. Not the biggest deal but if we start a family I hear being not religious here is a bit hard for school age.
traffic (denver friends tell me I am insane). Been getting worse over the years
nowhere to really kayak or paddle-board or anything else like that
schools are pretty bad in the area if we start a family

Likes about SLC:

pretty friendly town all around
extremely safe / low crime even petty crime
easy airport access
easy mountain biking access all over if air is ok to bike in
dedicated road biking routes / well marked roads
general concerts / comedy shows / events readily available

I (28M) don't know how to tell my wife (24F) that I cheated on her while she had post-partum depression
I know I'm a POS and I don't deserve my wife and our two beautiful sons (4 and 2). I know that by telling her this will be the end of our marriage. She will not forgive me, there will be no talking through it. She will tell me to pack my bags and leave immediately. I can't live with the guilt of not telling her, but I can't live without her. I don't know what to do.
Basically, my wife and I always wanted a traditional family. I would go to work and she would stay home with the kids. We both always wanted a large family, a house in the suburbs, a dog, the whole thing. We got married when she was 19 and I was 23. She got pregnant right away and our first son was born nine months to the day after our wedding. He was such an easy, happy baby. We were all so happy. My wife was super passionate about cooking, arts and crafts and home decor. Our home was always spotless, despite having a baby and dog. We had a great marriage and a healthy sex life. We were both naive enough to think that being parents was always going to be easy.
We started trying for another as soon as the doctor cleared us. It took about eight months for her to get pregnant, which stressed her out a lot because she got pregnant so easily with our first. This pregnancy was different. She had no energy. She gained a lot of weight and was unrecognizable. With our first son, she only had a small bump and you wouldn't have even known she was pregnant if you saw her from behind or if she was wearing an oversized shirt. With this pregnancy, she blew up like a balloon. Her face and feet were swollen. I sound like an asshole for saying this, but she looked like a monster. We didn't have sex for the entire pregnancy. Sometimes she would try to initiate, but I always turned her down because I was repulsed by her.
She had a difficult birth and our son was born with some health issues (relatively minor, thankfully, but enough to give us a scare). My wife blamed herself for our son's health issues. In the heat of the moment I told her that if she had been more active during pregnancy then our son probably would have been fine. She just kept sinking further and further into depression. She stopped brushing her hair and it started to mat. I would come home from work at 5pm to find our older son still in his pyjamas. The dirty dishes were piled a mile high in the sink. She stopped showering regularly and she refused to go on a jog to lose the baby weight even though I tried to encourage her by saying I'd cook dinner if she did. Our sons physical needs were being met, but emotionally she was checked out.
I started fantasizing about being single and not having a wife or kids. I started going to the gym and the bar after work instead of going home to them. I met "Cassidy" (19F) at the gym and we really hit it off. She was vocal about never wanting kids and when I would complain about my wife to her, she would pile on too. I was happy at the time because I wanted someone to validate me for being such an asshole, but looking back I'm disgusted. Pretty soon Cassidy and I were dating and I was having a whole separate life behind my wife's back.
After a few months, my wife slowly started to return to her old self. She started taking more pride in her appearance and started cooking from scratch again instead of ordering takeout or frozen food. Our home was clean again and our younger son's health issues were improving. I fell in love with her all over again. I started to realize that Cassidy wasn't as exciting and interesting as I thought she was. She was actually quite dull and stupid and had no real opinions or interests outside of partying and TikTok. I started to suspect that she didn't actually like me either and was just flattered by the attention of a married man and I stupidly enabled it by making her feel special and better than my wife. I ended things with her a few months later and she didn't even seem to care. All in, I was cheating on my wife for just over a year.
My wife has recently started asking to try for a third baby and the guilt all just hit me at once. I feel paralyzed. I have nightmares that she finds out from someone else. I've stopped eating and sleeping. I'm starting to get aches and pains from the stress. I don't know what to do. I know I'm an asshole. I know I don't deserve her. But I don't know how to tell her without breaking her. She's amazing and she never deserved this.

maybe stock up on essentials for the house first as well so while she’s dealing with her heart being fucking broken she doesn’t have to severely worry about it affording essentials without you on top of hurting due to you.

I really didn't expect the last post to blow up so much and even reach TikTok. I'm just going to post an update and then I'll probably delete this account.
As per somebody's advice, I took the day off work, dropped our two sons off at their grandparents' house and sat my wife down. I came fully clean. I made no excuses, told her I didn't expect forgiveness and that she had every right to say or do whatever she wanted. She didn't respond for a while, but then very softly and quietly told me that she wanted me out of the house the next day and that we were done. She didn't scream or cry or show any emotion. I asked her if she wanted to say anything else and she said no. I told her I was sorry and she said she didn't want to hear it. We sat in silence for what felt like forever while she stared blankly into space.
When our sons came home, seeing how expertly she was able to put on a brave face and not let them know anything was wrong broke my heart. It hit me like a ton of bricks that she was used to doing this, and it was all my fault. I slept in the guest room that night, but didn't get much sleep. The next morning, our older son asked me why mommy was crying again last night and said he wanted to cheer her up.
My wife refuses to speak to me, look at me or acknowledge me in any way. I heard her on the phone to her best friend who lives in another country. She told her that she thought she had found a good one and that she was going to break the mold. Her grandfather walked out and left her grandma with nothing. Her dad walked out and left her mom with nothing. I'm a piece of shit, just like every other man in her life.
I left today and she didn't even look at me or say anything. She just continued watching TV and crocheting as if nothing was happening. I'm staying at my parents' house and they are disgusted with me. My mom cried when I told her. They love my wife like their own daughter. I let everybody down. I deserve everything coming my way.

Your entire focus continues to be on yourself. Your entire post is about how her response made you feel.
Nowhere do you state that you intend to make amends, a critical component of true contrition. The only remorse you seem to have is on bad this is making you feel. You made the utterly selfish choice of telling your wife to alleviate YOUR guilt, not for her sake.
Why weren't you willing to live with the guilt - because, just like your decision to cheat, you were only thinking about yourself, what you wanted, and what felt good for you.
Although your marriage is obviously over (or should be), if you wanted to begin to be a decent person, you'd be focused on how to make amends, how to make the situation easier on your ex-wife, and most importantly, how to ease the transition into a broken home for your children.
