2023.05.29 02:00 BlueArchiveMod Daily Questions Megathread May 29, 2023
Please use this thread to ask any questions you have about the game. Please search though the comments section as your question may have been answered already or through the search bar.
General Resources
REMINDER: Bind your account!
Please remember to bind your accounts and take note of your
UID,
member code,
server location, and any information related to your account (e.g. amount spent, student roster, etc). If anything happens to your account (e.g. losing access, unauthorized access), you will need to provide as much info as you can to Nexon's customer support email. Guest accounts that are unbound will be extremely difficult to recover, perhaps impossible.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
[01] When does the server reset? For global, dailies reset at 19:00 UTC and weeklies reset on Sunday.
[02] Should I re-roll this account? This will depend on your priorities with PvE, PvP, or both, but you can generally see the âidealâ units as Iori, Hibiki, and Tsubaki for most content, while Shun and Haruna are great for PvP.
[03] Who should I spend my elephs on? Who should I mystic unlock? At the start, prioritize spending your blank elephs on getting Serina to 2-star for the increased healing stat, Tsubaki to 3-star for the extra tankiness when she is reloading. It is generally advised not to spend your elephs on increasing characters to 4-star and 5-star ratings, since there is only a stat increase and the amount of elephs needed is quite high.
[04] What do my support studentsâ stats do? Aside from increasing the stats of their own skills, support students will provide additional stat boosts to your striker team. The specific increase(s) can be viewed by clicking on âSupportâ on the right side of the team formation screen.
[05] What should I buy in the shop? - Credit Shop - Buy out the bottom row of materials, then the first two tiers of enhancement stones as needed. Feel free to buy the higher tiers of enhancement stones if you feel that you have an excess of credits, which is very common.
- Eligma - This will depend on you, can reference question [03].
- Total Assault (raid) - Prioritize Makiâs elephs (until you unlock her) and save the rest of your currency for future updates that will add more low-rarity students to the shop, meaning you can unlock mystic for them without spending your eligma. You can also purchase the skill discs/blu-rays depending on your needs.
- Tactical Challenge (PvP) - Buy out the energy drinks as needed (warning: they are instantly consumed, they wonât be moved to your inventory). Many suggest to save these for events in order to buy drinks, refresh the shop, and repeat.
[06] What does the âleaderâ position do? This is purely cosmetic, as it changes which studentâs chibi shows up on the map.
[07] What benefits are there to joining a club? - 10 AP are given daily and deposited automatically on teacher's mailbox, upon checking in.
- A maximum of two assistant can be set for Total Assault and Joint Firing Drill respectively.
- Students assigned to assist with TA cannot also be selected to assist with JFD.
- 20 credits are rewarded every minute by setting assistants.
- The specific unit that is borrowed can be only used once a day.
- There's a fee of 40,000 credits, when borrowing a assistant student.
- The donor receives 50,000 credits instead; even though the fee is 40,000 credits.
- The fee can only be received 20 times a day.
- It can be unlocked after clearing Mission 3 Act 4
[08] How does the pity system work? You need to pull, at a minimum, 200 times in order to get 200 recruitment points that are redeemed for the character you want. The recruitment point system does not carry over from banner to banner, it is only shared between banners that are concurrently running.
[09] Why canât I find my friendâs club? While the serversâ updates are separated from JP and global, the global servers are separated further into smaller divisions. You need to be on the same server as your friend, which you can check from the home screen: top-right menu button > account > version info. The server must be the same.
[10] When is X banner coming? Should I save for X student? We never know for sure, due to the fact that global servers are on an accelerated schedule compared to JP. Please refer to this
guide for some more info.
[11] Should I use Pyroxenes to refill my AP? If you want to prioritize progression, the first three daily refills are decently valuable, this is because the Pyroxene cost of refilling will increase for every three refills. If you are focused on character collection or future banners, you should be saving your Pyroxenes.
[12] Why canât I buy X studentâs eleph in the shop? You can only buy elephs of students you own.
[13] What should I craft? At the start, prioritize crafting cafe furniture until your comfort is maxed out, then studentsâ gifts, then whichever upgrade materials you need. The crafting system is the only way to get furniture and gifts at the moment.
[14] What is the âAnniversaryâ in account settings? This is your birthday, used for characters to wish you happy birthday.
[15] When will the beginner guide missions for Nonomi end? This is a permanent addition, so feel free to take your time with the tasks.
[16] What is the best place to farm EXP? You can run any map to farm EXP, as the EXP gain is equal to the amount of AP spent (i.e. 10 AP spent = 10 EXP gained). You should be looking at the stages that drop the equipment upgrade materials that you need.
[17] What is the âSecret Tech Sheetâ in the Total Assault shop? This is used to upgrade a studentâs (non-EX) skill to level 10.
[18] Is it worth doing a raid if I canât pass X difficulty level? It is always more efficient to clear the highest difficulty you can finish instead of failing/forfeiting a higher difficulty.
[19] Can I claim the Limited Students through exchanging Expert Permits? How often does the Expert Permit shop resets? You cannot get the limited students via this method. You will still need to pull for them. There's no specific mentioned but it's expected to be monthly.

How Can Writers Use Notion AI?
Having experimented with Notion AI (both as an early beta tester and using the plan currently available to all users), here are some of the top use cases demonstrating the value of Notion AI for writers:
1. Summarizing Written Content
Notion AI offers an easy to use, one click command, that automatically summarizes a portion of text highlighted.
For the purposes of this example, I entered the text of a recent WSJ article, Fed Minutes Show Most Officials Favored Quarter-Point Rate Rise.
The original article text is listed below: Most Federal Reserve officials thought slowing the pace of interest-rate increases at their meeting three weeks ago offered the best way to balance the risks of doing too much or too little to combat inflation, but some warned against the hazards of slowing or stopping rate increases too soon.
âA number of participants observed that a policy stance that proved to be insufficiently restrictive could halt recent progress in moderating inflationary pressures,â said the minutes of the Jan. 31-Feb. 1 meeting, released Wednesday.
Fed officials unanimously approved raising their benchmark federal-funds rate by a quarter percentage point to a range between 4.5% and 4.75% on Feb. 1. That increase followed six larger increases, including a half percentage point in December.
Reserve Chair Jerome Powell said Wednesday the central bank will raise interest rates a quarter-percentage-point. Powell said more increases will likely be needed to continue lowering inflation.
The minutes of the gathering said that âalmost all participants agreed that it was appropriateâ to raise rates by a quarter point, or 25 basis points. Many of these officials âobserved that a further slowing in the pace of rate increases would better allow them to assess the economyâs progress⊠as they determine the extent of future policy tightening,â the minutes said.
But a few participants favored or would have also agreed to a larger half-point move, the minutes said. âThe participants favoring a 50-basis-point increase noted that a larger increase would more quickly bring the target range close to the levels they believed would achieve a sufficiently restrictive stance,â the minutes said.
Their discussion suggested another increase of a quarter point was likely at their next meeting on March 21-22. Since then, new data indicated stronger economic activity and slower progress on inflation than previously expected, which could keep the Fed raising rates longer than anticipated before the latest reports.
At the time of the recent meeting, Fed Chair Jerome Powell was facing increasing skepticism from investors over whether the central bank would continue raising rates because economic activity had been mixed around yearâs end, with signs that consumer spending had moderated and weakness in the hard-hit housing sector was spreading to manufacturing. Investors were also anticipating rate cuts later this year.
The Fed raises rates to combat inflation by slowing the economy through tighter financial conditionsâsuch as higher borrowing costs, lower stock prices and a stronger dollarâthat curb demand.
Most Fed officials projected in December that they would raise the fed-funds rate to 5.1% this year, which would imply quarter-point rate increases at their next two meetings, in March and May. More than a third of officials anticipated lifting the rate above 5.25%. No officials projected rate cuts this year.
Some officials at the meeting observed that any continued easing in financial conditions could require the Fed to raise rates to higher levels or keep them at higher levels for longer than anticipated.
In the three weeks since they met, fresh U.S. economic reports showed that hiring and retail spending surged in January. The unemployment rate fell to 3.4%, a 53-year low, surprising economists who have long anticipated that Fed rate increases would slow economic growth soon. Economic growth also has rebounded in Europe, further easing worries of a global recession this year.
As a result, investors now expect the Fed to lift the fed-funds rate to around 5.4% in Juneâmore than central bank officials had projected in December.
Inflationâs swift decline late last year also stalled in January. The 12-month inflation rate edged down to 6.4% last month from 6.5% in December and a recent high of 9.1% in June, according to the Labor Department. The departmentâs widely followed gauge, the consumer-price index, rose a sturdy 0.5% in January from the month before, a sign of still strong price pressures.
Two Fed presidents said last week they would have supported a larger half-point rate rise at the last meeting, rather than the quarter-point increase approved. One of them, Cleveland Fed President Loretta Mester, said officials arenât limited to quarter-point steps. âWe can move faster, and we can do bigger [increases] at any particular meeting.â
St. Louis Fed President James Bullard also said he would support moving as quickly as possible to raise the fed-funds rate to 5.4%. âI donât see much merit in delaying our approach to that level,â he told reporters last week.
Most other Fed officials have expressed a preference for quarter-point increases. Richmond Fed President Tom Barkin told reporters last week he liked that approach âbecause I believe it gives us the flexibility to respondâ depending on how the economy evolves.
Mr. Barkin said he didnât favor moving rapidly to an estimated peak rate before pausing because he isnât confident the central bank can gauge how much its past rate moves are slowing the economy. âThat theory, to me, requires more confidence in understandingâ the effectiveness of tighter rate policy âthan I have,â he said.
Overall inflation had slowed in recent months largely because of falling prices of energy and other goods. Large increases in housing costs have slowed, but havenât yet filtered through to official price gauges. Mr. Powell has nevertheless justified continued rate increases by pointing to still-tight labor markets, elevated wage pressures and high inflation for labor-intensive services.
Mr. Barkin noted the surprising strength in January spending and hiring, but said he wasnât ready to substantially revise his economic outlook because of the potential for unusual seasonal volatility, including a longer holiday spending season in the fourth quarter, warmer weather and changes in how employers are managing their staffing given recent difficulties hiring workers.
Investorsâ shifting expectations about the Fed could already be helping the central bank because interest-rate policies work through financial markets. Changes to the anticipated trajectory of rates, and not just what the Fed does at any meeting, can influence broader financial conditions.
Since November, anticipation of a milder interest-rate path led financial conditions to ease somewhat after tightening substantially last year. The average 30-year fixed mortgage rate, for example, jumped from 4% one year ago to 7% in November. It then edged lower, to around 6% earlier this month.
Over the past two weeks, however, financial conditions have tightened again as investors anticipate an interval of higher short-term interest rates. Mortgage lenders have reported rates are returning back to 7% in recent days.
After a few seconds, Notion AI generated the following text summarizing the article:

While not perfect, this is a really good summarization of a complex article/topic. And the Notion AI tool also provided options for further editing this text, including making the summary longer, rewriting the entire summary, or replacing a section of the article.
2. Changing Tone of Text
Another great feature of Notion AI is its ability to change the tone of text.
For example, I used the following excerpt from a Washington Post article on winter weather: A strong, intensifying storm system continued its trek across the Lower 48 early Wednesday, unleashing high-impact winter weather that could cause widespread power outages and grind travel to a halt. At least 75 million Americans are under winter storm, ice storm, blizzard warnings or winter weather advisories.
In addition to hefty precipitation in much of the Midwest and parts of the Plains, there could also be snow in notably low elevations â including in areas that rarely see measurable snowfall. Even the Los Angeles County mountains are included in a rare blizzard warning â the first issued by the National Weather Service office there since 1989. Snow levels could descend to below 1,000 feet elevation as extreme anomalous cold at high altitudes whips up a serious elevation storm.
That same lobe of frigid air aloft is also spawning a surface low thatâs marching across the country. Over the Upper Midwest and the northern Plains, up to two feet of snow could fall in what the National Weather Service office in Minneapolis is calling a historic winter storm. It could prove to be a top-5 event in the Twin Cities, where blizzard warnings slice through the metro.
On the southern fringe of the snowfall, mild air a mile above the ground will favor freezing rain, with a quarter- to a half-inch of ice accumulation, or glaze, possible in some areas. Parts of the Corn Belt and Michigan are expected to be hardest hit, including places like Dubuque and Cedar Rapids, Iowa, or Lansing, Kalamazoo and Ann Arbor in Michigan.
The storm should finish its cross-country assault in the Northeast late Thursday into Friday, where additional winter storm warnings are in effect for northern New York, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine.
I then used the Notion AI change tone function, and selected the âcasual optionâ:
The Notion AI tool then quickly generated the following text: Wowza, weâve got a major storm system heading across the US of A, bringing some serious winter weather that could knock out power and put a stop to travel plans. Thatâs no joke, folks! It looks like around 75 million Americans are under winter storm, ice storm, blizzard warnings or winter weather advisories, so you know this is serious business.
And get this, itâs not just heavy precipitation weâre talking about â parts of the Midwest and Plains could get snow, and weâre talking about areas that donât usually see snowfall. The Los Angeles County mountains are even included in a rare blizzard warning â the first one issued by the National Weather Service office there in over 30 years! The snow could even come down to below 1,000 feet elevation. Yikes!
Thereâs a lobe of frigid air up high thatâs causing all of this, and itâs also spawning a surface low thatâs going across the country. In the Upper Midwest and the northern Plains, weâre talking up to two feet of snow in what the National Weather Service office in Minneapolis is calling a historic winter storm. Thatâs right, it could be a top-5 event in the Twin Cities, where blizzard warnings are all over the place.
On the southern edge of the snowfall, freezing rain is likely, and some areas could see a quarter- to a half-inch of ice accumulation. The Corn Belt and Michigan are expected to be hit hard, including places like Dubuque and Cedar Rapids, Iowa, or Lansing, Kalamazoo and Ann Arbor in Michigan.
This storm is going to finish up with a bang in the Northeast late Thursday into Friday, where more winter storm warnings are in effect for northern New York, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine. Stay safe out there, folks!
While perhaps a bit over the top, it definitely demonstrates the AI tools ability to create content using different tones.
3. Writing Social Media Posts
While the previous two use cases demonstrate the Notion AI toolâs ability to synthesize and mimic different forms of text, this next example shows its power to create text based off of very short prompts. Specifically, how it can quickly generate social media posts.
I selected the option from the Notion AI menu to write a social media post. It asked for me to enter a prompt to complete this sentence:
Write a social media post about_____________
And I simply entered â
spring cleaning.â
In response, it generated the following social media post (including the hashtags):
Spring is here and itâs time for some cleaning! Whether itâs decluttering your home, organizing your closet, or deep cleaning those hard-to-reach areas, now is the perfect time to get started. A little bit of cleaning can go a long way in making your space feel refreshed and renewed. Donât forget to donate any items you no longer need to charity or recycle them responsibly. Letâs all welcome spring with a clean and organized home!
#springcleaning #declutter #organization #cleanhome #refreshed #renewed #donate #recycle
While not perfect, I didnât give the AI tool much information, so I was fairly impressed with this output.
4. Writing a Blog Post
Similar to the last use case, I wanted to further text the Notion AI toolâs ability to generate written content. So I selected the âwrite a blog postâ option and entered the following prompt:
The tool generated the following blog post:

So put on your running shoes, hit the pavement, and enjoy the many benefits of this simple yet effective form of exercise.
Overall, I was very impressed with how quickly it generated this grammatically correct and well written blog post. Itâs worth noting that once the Notion AI tool finishes generating the text, there is a button you can click to make the article longer, which it also does with ease.
5. Finding Action Items
Last, I wanted to test the âfinding action itemsâ tool. To do this, I found a publicly available copy of a countyâs meeting minutes over their local water authority (see PDF here):
I then ran the text through the AI tool, using the âfind action items toolâ:
Notion AI generated the following:
- - [ ] Purchase hydrants to replace existing hydrants in the Pinebrook Water System
- - [ ] Complete the activation of the system, replacing the hydrants, and other miscellaneous punch list items to complete the Pinebrook Water Interconnection Project
- - [ ] Engage legal counsel to advise on the assignment from Global Foundries to Onsemi
- - [ ] Request a preliminary meeting with the Poughkeepsie Joint Water Board to discuss issues and concerns regarding the assignment from Global Foundries to Onsemi
- - [ ] Speak to the Deputy County Executive, Ron Hicks in regard to the request to assign the water sale agreement to Onsemi
- - [ ] Consider retaining auditors, RBT to review Onsemiâs financials
- - [ ] Follow up with Ron Haase, Rust & Co. about purchasing the Market Street Plant
Overall, I was very impressed with the ability of the AI tool to generate action items. Since many Notion users (students, office workers, etc.) use Notion for note taking, this seems like an extremely valuable feature.
Conclusion
The examples of Notionâs AI tool make a strong case for adding the Notion AI tool to your writer toolkit! And the examples above only represent a fraction of the total use cases. Notion is already one of the best productivity tools for bloggers, and the addition of Notion AI for writers further cements its place on this list!

2023.05.28 16:29 Odd_Blacksmith_5454 My Vasectomy Experience and Guide
Throwaway account due to containing some personal info
Thought I would share my experience, since youâre likely scrolling through this subreddit and reading a bunch of horror stories mixed with people saying the procedure wasnât bad at all. Iâm in the latter group, but I thought I would go into some extra detail on why the procedure wasnât so bad as well as putting together a rough guide on optimizing your experience. One disclaimer is that I just had this procedure performed a week ago so I canât speak to PVPS but Iâm currently experiencing no pain. Also, Iâm not a doctor so if your doctor recommends anything that contradicts with what I said, go with their recommendation. Feel free to comment with additional advice.
Step 1: Finding a Doctor
Youâll want to find a board-certified urologic surgeon (urologist) in your area that is willing to do a vasectomy on someone your age and performs at least 50 vasectomies per year(1). Your primary care physician can help give you a recommendation. You should ask at least these three questions before/during consultation with the urologist:
- How many vasectomies do you perform a year?
- How long have you been performing vasectomies at this rate/year?
- What type of vasectomy do you perform?
Itâs also worth checking if the doctor has any discipline actions against them. Below is a link to the NYS website that can help with this (2), you may need to do some digging to find the equivalent for your state.
If possible, bring a friend/SO to the consolation to take notes. The doctor will likely thoroughly explain the procedure which, while helpful, made me so nervous that I stopped fully listening and then had to make some calls afterword to have them go over what they said again (donât be like me, bring a buddy).
When it comes to vasectomy types, youâll hear about a lot of options on the internet (traditional vs. no scalpel, cauterization vs. clips vs. open ended, no needle vs. needle). The reddit consensus seems to be that no-scalpel open ended is the preference, but itâs important to hear the trained urologists arguments for their method. FWIW I received a traditional with cauterization and havenât had any issues so far (knock on wood).
If the doctorâs answers to your questions are satisfactory, ask them how much they charge for the procedure (assuming insurance doesnât cover it) and when they can perform the vasectomy. You should ideally pick a date that doesnât have anything too mentally taxing the week before, and too physically taxing the next two weeks after. Fridays are great as you can schedule PTO on Friday and Monday to have four days dedicated to recovery.
A note on budgeting, my procedure was $945 in total but the cost can vary. My recommended budget is $2,000 - $3,000. In addition to the procedure itself, there are a few items I recommend purchasing (listed below) to make recovery easier, and the amount left over can help cover any additional work that hopefully wonât be necessary.
Shopping List:
- Jockstraps or athletic underwear (something that provides a lot of support to the nuts) x 4 packs (12 pair)
- Big box of gauze pads (ideally 25-50 pads)
- Hand sanitizer
- Neosporin (or similar antibiotic ointment)
- Tylenol (just in case)
- Something fun for after surgery (ex. subscribe to a new streaming service, buy a new video game, get a book from the library)
- Frozen peas (2 packs) or ice packs specifically designed for vasectomy recovery
- Ziplock bags (large enough to place frozen peas within)
- Fiber bars / bananas, eggs, spinach, minced garlic, tortilla wraps, cheese, bell peppers
- Laptop Bed Desk Table Tray Stand
- Wireless head phones
Step 2: The Week Before
This was the hardest part of the procedure in my experience. The thought of sharp objects near your sack isnât a savory one, and itâs natural to be nervous. The toughest part I found was that I was having trouble sleeping. If youâre in a similar situation, my recommendation is to use this time to do some prep work. Since you canât lift anything heavy after surgery, get your chores out of the way ahead of time so you can recover as long as possible. This is also a good opportunity to move some things around to minimize the amount of movement you need to do after surgery (ex. cleaning your nightstand and moving your Tylenol / gauze pads to an easy to reach location). Finally, feel free to do some meal prep so you spend minimal time standing by a stove after surgery.
Your doctor will likely tell you this, but Iâll reiterate, donât take any blood thinners the week before. If you do, reschedule the appointment. Also, it may be worth asking your doctor if they can give you a valium (ask this ahead of the appointment date as they will likely need some time to get approval). I couldnât get any valium during my surgery, but that also could be because I didnât ask in advance.
Something I do recommend taking a few days before are those bananas / fiber bars. The thought of pooping right after surgery isnât a great one, so a high fiber diet can help clean you out beforehand.
One final tip I have is to masturbate a few times the day before. You shouldnât masturbate for 1-2 weeks after surgery so it's good to get it out of your system now.
Step 3: The Day Of
I would recommend taking a half-day today if your surgery is in the afternoon. While taking a full day can be tempting, you may want some work to keep your mind preoccupied.
When leaving the house to go to surgery, bring the following with you:
- Paperwork + insurance card
- Check (or credit card if they accept it)
- Wireless headphones
- Your phone
- Frozen peas (optional)
- Someone to drive home you after surgery
Now itâs time for the gory details and, honestly, itâs not all that gory. My urologist did inject lidocaine into my ballsack and he mentioned that there would be a burning sensation, but I felt very little. Iâve had lidocaine in my foot before and it was way worse that time. The actual insertion of the needle also didnât hurt as much as I was expecting (less painful than getting blood drawn). My theory is that the ballsack doesnât have much nerves tied to it (instead itâs the balls within the sack that feel pain and an experienced doctor wonât be bumping into those).
Once the lidocaine is in, you donât really feel much after. It sorta feels like your doctor is thumbing at your scrotum but thatâs about it. The worst part are the thoughts going through your head and I have a tip for that. Remember those wireless headphones I mentioned? Ask your doctor if you can wear them during surgery and play a meditation video during the procedure. Hereâs a link to the one I used (3). Focusing on the meditation should help get you through. Overall, I would rate the physical pain of the procedure to be less than a dental cleaning / blood donation.
Step 4: What to Expect After
Youâll start to feel an aching feeling about 1-2 hours after the procedure as the lidocaine wears off. The good news is that, as far as I can tell, this is the worst the pain will be, assuming you donât lift anything heavier than a phonebook during recovery. Nowâs the time to elevate your feet and begin icing your balls. Put the frozen peas into the ziplock bag and then apply to the top surface of your underwear (which should still have a gauze pad under it as well). Set a timer for 20 minutes and begin the icing. Once the timer goes off, set another one for 15 minutes, put the frozen peas in the freezer and wait. You should also use a paper towel to wipe off any moisture from the ziplock bag. Ideally, you have someone else making runs to/from the freezer but an alternative could be to get a small icebox to store the peas near your couch/bed. Once this timer goes off, begin applying the peas again. Keep doing this for ~4 hours, then you can do it for less the next day if you donât feel the ache. After the next day is over, the peas can be applied if you notice bruising. Bruising isnât uncommon and can last 2-3 weeks after application. My bruising went away after 2-3 days and the aching mostly went away after the second day.
Speaking of the ache, letâs talk about it. Much like the surgery, itâs not as bad as I was expecting. I would describe it as that feeling you get when you sit in a weird position too long in tight pants, a mild pressing sensation over the scrotum and iliac furrows area. The peas and lack of movement will help reduce the pain/swelling (though it likely wonât go away as the peas are on you). Something that also surprised me is how small the cuts on the scrotum actually are (look less like major surgery and more like I nicked myself shaving).
Our new goal will be to minimize risk of infection. After about 4 hours after the surgery, feel free to swap out your gauze pad with a new one, with a very light amount of Neosporin on it. Be sure to clean your hand prior to these swaps (wash thoroughly and apply sanitizer). Right before bed, switch out both underwear and gauze. Keep legs in elevated position while you sleep (put a pillow under your legs). The next day, my recommended gauze swap out is as follows:
- Morning: Replace current gauze with a new one that has a light layer of neosporin on it
- 1-2 hours later: Swap out gauze with a fresh one that has no neosporine on it
- Before bed: Swap out gauze again for a new one with very light neosporine
Prior to applying that gauze pad before bed, it would be a good time to take a light shower. When applying soap to your scrotum, my recommendation is to lather the soap on your hands and then lightly flick the suds to your sack. This way, you have soap on your sack without actually touching it (minimizing risk of your hands infecting it or prematurely opening the stitches). If you are struggling with a cold sore, I would recommend washing your haiface separately from the body washing (ideally after washing your body and while bent over the bath spicket).
Some other tips Iâm following is to treat it like any other wound recovery:
- Eating foods rich in vitamin c and protein.
- Avoiding sugar
- Keeping feet elevated with a pillow
- Keeping hands washed and sanitized
- Using the bed desk to discourage a cat/dog/child from hopping into your lap.
Follow doctors instructions regarding showering and abstinence. The current guideline is to avoid working out 1 week after surgery, but Iâm going to wait 2 weeks as an added precaution.
One final suggestion for you. Throughout this process you may have been concerned about PVPS (post-vasectomy pain syndrome). The most concerning aspect of this illness is that it may arrive 5-7 years after surgery and can be tricky for urologists to identify as it seems to be the result of multiple different causes, including the following:
- Infection
- Nerve compression
- Damage to the vas deferens tube
- Back pressure
- Scar tissue
While thereâs no guarantee that this wonât occur, the steps above should at least help minimize risk of infection/scarring. Some further precautions you may want to consider are as follows:
- Avoid working out until at least 1 month after surgery and then begin by focusing on light cardio (avoid heavy weights for now)
- Consider investing in a hot tub in the distant future (this is pure speculation on my part but, if a potential cause is back pressure of sperm, then regular soaks in a heated environment may kill off said sperm and relieve pressure)
Hope all of instruction above provide you with some guidance and peace of mind regarding this process and, if you have any other tips for vasectomies, I would love to hear about them.

2023.05.28 15:06 kungraco Taylors Falls, MN
| My work took me up to Taylors Fall yesterday. I've been to the park and ridden my motorcycle through this gorgeous area of ours before but I did some reading about the geology of the rock formations when I returned home. I learned that MN was once positioned near the Equator. I'm sure this news was relayed to me at some point in school but I was likely staring out the window thinking about playing baseball or climbing trees at the time. If you haven't been to the area, it is definitely worth a day trip. Taylors Falls, Minnesota GEOLOGY OF THE TAYLORS FALLS REGION About 1.1 billion years ago, a great rift valley formed across the North American continent from the Lake Superior region southwest to Kansas. As this rift valley opened, basaltic lavas erupted into it, accumulating to a thickness of up to 20 kilometers in the Lake Superior region. The dark-grey basalt rocks that form the St. Croix River gorge are made from these rift lava flows. Continental rifting with volcanism is common in the geological record and often leads to the breakup of continents and the formation of intervening ocean basins. For reasons not completely understood, the Midcontinent Rift here in North America failed to evolve to the stage of complete continental separation. About 520 million years ago in the Late Cambrian period, the North American continent was positioned with Minnesota near the equator. Shallow seas covered the region, into which great thicknesses of mainly quartz sand were deposited. These deposits are now the sandstone bluffs along this river valley and the rock faces exposed on the highway road cuts south of this marker. Although most of the region then lay flat, the basalts in the Taylors Falls area stood high as rocky, cliff-ringed islands in a tropical sea. The most recent geological event recorded here occurred about 12,000 years ago during the end of the Ice Age of the last two million years. As the last of the glaciers melted and receded to the north, tremendous quantities of sediment-laden glacial meltwaters were channeled into the St. Croix River valley. Here at Taylors Falls, a colossal torrent of abrasive currents carved down through the Cambrian sandstones and deep into the rift basalts now seen on the valley floor. The spectacular potholes in the lava rock, found in Interstate Park about 0.4 kilometer north of this site, attest to the high velocity of the raging glacial waters that carved the St. Croix River gorge. submitted by kungraco to minnesota [link] [comments] |
2023.05.28 13:32 Primary_Wrongdoer660 State of the Stadium
Some STH were invited to a âfireside chatâ with Brad yesterday prior to the match, entitled, âState of the Stadium.â
Tl;dr not a whole lot of new stuff, but tons of interesting subtext - will try to brain dump here:
- Most expensive stadium in North American soccefootball by an order of 2x (ââŠnot because we are gold plating everything but because of the NY premiumâ)
- Because of this, club will have to earn more (more on this later)
- Want this to be THE destination for soccefootball
- Would love for the stadium to become a general venue, but immediate focus is on soccefootball (including womenâs matches; hi2u womenâs World Cup!) and possibly expanding into hosting Rugby, Lacrosse, even the XFL
- NYCFC II likely NOT using the new stadium. Ideal capacity for the 2nd team around 5k-8k and looking at Westchester, LI, and even BK as homes.
- 12%-20% of seats will be premium; this is consistent with newer MLS stadiums. Likely will be closer to 20%, with Pitchside continuing to be the most exclusive/expensive
- Current plans do NOT call for stadium expandability (mainly because of zoning rules and the inability to access certain parcels of land on the new site; making construction a bit hardeROI not clear)
- parking situation with Cohen: itâs a thing, but the club feels fairly confident it will somehow get resolved; they are moving full speed ahead with plans/reviews
- Food and Beverage being figured out and they feel all major players will compete for the business
- Oh and Founding Member bricks/brick placement likely going to be one of the last things that gets decided
The subtext though: the leadership is full of sales guys and almost no one with real soccefootball experience. Not a bad thing, but they are clearly speaking out of both sides of their mouthsâŠagain, not a bad thing, just an observation.
We took the opportunity to let them know that, while we understand the need to make more revenue, we need to balance making the club accessible - got some not-satisfying lame answer to the effect of âwe agree.â
However, left feeling that 30%-50% price increases (Vs todayâs prices) are probably going to be the norm. This on top of them saying ââŠwe will definitely need new (corporate) buyers to help with the revenue component.â
Theyâve been spending time in Austin and St. Louis learning how those clubs have optimized revenue. In the CEOâs terms âIâm a supply/demand guy and I want more demand than supply.â
As a Founding Member, am all for the club FINALLY getting a new home, BUT it feels like this crop of leaders will skew revenue first (again, I understand why and support it - to a limit) and growing the game second. However, this is a newer leadership team, they feel a little disconnected and a little nickel and dimey.
My ask: if you get asked to join a focus group, voice your opinions and donât be shy. We get ONE chance to get this right. Itâs our club and itâs our city. For those of us here since 2013, itâs a chance for us to finally shape our identity. Leadership rotates, the stadium is a fixture.

2023.05.28 11:33 jumpinjacks12345 May 2023 Report/Tips: Venice, Florence, Tuscany, Cinque Terre
We just got back, Italy is magical. Only been to Rome once before as part of Europe hopping trip about 10 years ago. Some thoughts and tricks on our 10 nights, hope it's helpful for others:
Weather: Don't stress too much on forecasts even a week out. Check before leaving and adjust wardrobe or add a light rain jacket if needed. Originally our entire trip showed rain the whole time. Realistically there was a 1 drizzly day in Venice and 2 hour of rain (ominous with thunder) in Florence. The rest of the time was cloudy or beautiful and clear. Cinque Terre was absolutely clear and 70, but dang that sun when hiking was brutally hot. App: Il Meteo
Download WhatsApp - everyone including hotels, restaurants, business, taxi driver (see below) uses it.
Esim: Airalo worked well for us Samsung S22 and Pixel 6. Did have to reboot my S22, but worked really well and between the 2 of us used about 5GB so couldn't gone with less data. One phone did the Europe regional and another the Italy Mamma Mia one. Some restaurants do have dead zones, some have Wifi, another was like these signs on the wall are your wifi....
Driving: You definitely need a car for Tuscany if you want to be on your own timetable, we rented out of Florence and returned in La Spezia. Beware some of the routes on Google Maps, although reliable there were 2 instances we went off roading when an asphalt road was right there. Then we needed to u-turn on the outskirts of Pisa and it was trying to get us to make this impossible stone walled turn and the locals were like yeah Google Maps has people do this and no one has made that so just turn back around. Also lesson learned for us - just do the rental company insurance, event though my credit card offers primary, we got a larger mid size SUV vs Fiat 500 and with the narrow streets, for me the reduced stress would've been worth it when we had to wiggle the car out some spots - but we came out scratch free. On a side note, we got a Lynk & Co car, which was neat and loved Android Auto as we use it at home. Rented thru Hertz. If you use the toll roads (which can make your life a lot faster sometime), make sure you grab a ticket coming in, we didn't get one for 1 segment, luckily getting off of it, the remote attendant spoke english, a little annoyed, but let us pay the fare from where we came from.
Parking: The meters we encountered in Montepulciano, Siena, Pisa seemed straight forward but sometimes card wouldn't work, the english translation was bad and cancelled out transaction multiple times.
Just download EasyPark which seems to work everywhere, GPS your zone, link to GooglePay or credit card, license and boom, spin the clock - small fee less than 10%, but damn was it easy and you can add time or end early....
Trains:
Download Trenitalia app, book any train instantly, get train status (where is the train currently), and see any station's timetable. Our Venice to Florence train did get delayed and stopped here and there in Bologna one weekend due to the flood damage, luckily our train wasn't cancelled. 5 days later, all trains seems to be back on track. Missed the big 5/26 strike by one day but I was seeing some trains via the app still scheduled. Basically be mentally prepared for any issues, booked an InterCity (assigned seats) from La Spezia to Pisa ahead of time but day of just waited to see when to schedule the regional from Pisa to Florence, so easy via app and you can see how often they run (30 mins for this route) and buy on demand as your schedule permits.
Booking museums/sights: It can be very tricky to google and find official booking sites as there are a lot of 3rd parties who want to get you a "front of the line pass" with a tour for a large markup. So I tried to book thru official sites as much as I can, for the life of us we couldn't get the Doges official to go through so did get those from Get the Guide for less than 5 euro markup for 2. If you are flexible and go off hours, you can do standby and avoid the nominal online booking fee and time spot, we only did these for some, not all. Maybe don't listen to me during summer months. But we did very little waiting - see below
Food: Note that I found classic italian cooking is much more simple, subtle and just pure flavors. Stuff was beautiful but by California standards, a tad underseasoned although some places did put out salt and pepper (default not request) for some dishes like a burrata. This is also coming from here in SoCal where birria is not enough it's birria ramen and hot cheetos encrusted this or that and 5 different types of toppings for mac and cheese - you know stuff for Instagram.... But I totally appreciated the approach and loved it.
Cities - we tend to do a lot on vacation, it may have been a touch quick but it was so fun, we did get a bit sick just with all the weather and change but nothing serious but was glad to get the downtime in Tuscany, we hit it hard first 2 places Venice and Florence. You may vacation differently, this was also our first trip abroad in 7 or so years so wanted to see ALLTHETHINGS.
Accommodations - We did mostly Airbnb which in Europe requires a meetup vs self check in. Did an incredible bed and breakfast (see Montepulciano) and finally a hotel in Florence for last night which I highly recommend for location and service - Arte Boutique (they helped me track down a lost backpack in a taxi, see below).
Safety - felt pretty safe and not scammy in all of our cities our Airbnb host in Florence said Italy overall is safe but he did confirm Rome you need to be more aware. Honestly we only carried 350 euro with us from US bank and that was plenty, near the end we were needing to use it up as everyone takes card, tap to pay, ApplePay and GooglePay freely. Taxi drivers do prefer cash
Staying calm story - we were ending our trip from Florence to airport in in my rush I left my backpack in backseat of taxi, it was gone before I realized we had our rollers and his backpack and duffel but not mine. Luckily my husband was like ok we will call the hotel (the only one we happened to book) who arranged the taxi, and luckily they tracked him down and he came back due to us allotting tons of time before departure. I had to pay the fare again for the backpack fare but was so relieved. We corresponded via WhatsApp after making the initial call to hotel.
Venice: 2 nights
- Sights: Doges (booked via Get the Guide) was cool, not the biggest museum person. Walk over Bridge of Sighs was uneventful from inside. St Mark Basilica had no advance tickets, but did standby for 3 eupp about 20 min before opening and got in within 10 mins, then hopped over to Campanile Tower w/o tickets, no line around 9-9:30 AM - great views.
- Eat: Faves were the quick bites chichetti (All'Arco, Cantina Do Spade), coffee and pastries and gelato (loved Suso). Our sit downs were not bad, just not mind blowing at Ai Mercanti and Imprompta (although seafood good). Also there's a small bar inside Cafe Florian if you want a macchiato for under 5 euro vs sitting down for a 12 euro cappucino and want a mini experience w/o wait.
It can be crowded mid-day but will calm down, very cool to walk or take vaparetto around and get lost, oops this alley dumps into a canal....
Florence: 2 nights
- Sights: Prebooked Galleria Accademia (a must, always a line), good museum experience if you don't necessarily need hours, so neat to see David here. Because not huge museum people, passed on the Uffuzi. Someone at lunch said hey Medici is cool, so did that on a whim w/o any wait and very cool, glad we did it on the fly. Prebooked Boboli Gardens, kinda tired by the time we got here and it had been drizzly and a bit humid, but nice to stroll. The larger fountain area you can't walk through anymore (Ocean fountain?). Also Piazza Michaelangelo for the Florence city center view. Lots of great shopping here, suggest start at Vale for a leather shop.
- Food: Ok so All Antico Vinaio although touristy is legit sandwich, very good and worth it. Tip: go to San Marco location, smaller wait by Galleria Accademia. GustaPizza was legit and very reasonable 7 euro for Margherita?! Fave gelato was Gelato Dei Neri and My Sugar. Mercato Centrale super cool to walk, shop for products, eat if you like. Trattoria Mario, email ahead for reservations - 1.1 kg florentine steak with small sides and salami/cheese plate all for under $70. Dall'Oste was good florentine but much pricier and touristy but had a good Montalcino wine there, book on website for discount for seatings outside of peak times, our 6 PM had 15% discount on food.
Tuscany: 2 nights Montepulciano, 1 night Siena
So beautiful, just the drive through Val D'Orcia. We stopped by San Gimignano and did the tower with no wait (150 stairs), Gelateria Donderia is overrated but fine, GO GO GO to Da'A'Mariani for sandwich here, sweet sweet man and just off the main street - recommended by Pasticcheria Il Criollo which was fabulous just outside city wall.
Stayed in Montepulciano, which was SO fabulous. Our true bed and breakfast was only 3 suites run on a property by 2 americans who moved to Italy - true hospitality and modern yet italian suite. They are booked solid this year, but it was sooo special. Huge breakfast spread every morning. It was true paradise there and the owners are gems - made awesome restaurant recommendations and reservations, driving route, etc. DM me if you want the name but don't bet on getting in for 2023. Restaurants in Montepulciano were Osteria Porto Di Baccio - great antipasto meat/cheese and pici, great typical osteria in wine cave then Le Logge Vignola which was very creative for a very reasonable price - you definitely need reservations for both maybe a few days ahead as both are fully booked by dinner. Gelato recc here would be Scarbia.
Siena - had the Siena OPA Si pass which I recommend, everything except the roof tour. Cathedral inside is a sight to see and includes works by Michaelangelo and Dontatello - ask worker where they are at, definitely do panaroma. This was helpful
https://www.earthtrekkers.com/how-to-visit-the-siena-cathedral/ Walk to PastaZuf down the way from Piazza Campo for legit casual takeway pasta for 5-6 euro
Cinque Terre: 2 nights Riomaggiore
Yup, did Pisa as a quick stop on way to drop off car, it's neat and lots of parking (EasyPark app) to get in/out.
Stayed in Riomaggiore, CT is definitely touristy during the day but quiets down. Rick Steves was right, not overhyped. Every city is absolutely gorgeous. Did the hike from Monterosso-Vernazza-Corniglia - yes the HARD way with those stairs first leg but it was very rewarding and fun, can be tight in spots, started at 8 AM and ended in Corniglia around 11:15, start early as you can for less crowds. Train makes it easy to hop towns. Dinners included Rio Bistrot in Riomaggiore (checked in at lunch for dinner reservation same night) and Ristorante Belforte - both great views and suprisingly great food! Tasting menu is way to go at Rio Bistrot. Quick bites include fried seafood, so good. Be prepared for all the elevation/stairs/walking.
Edits: Add safety section, accommodations, and staying calm story.

2023.05.28 09:48 TheMidnight5031 Thoughts And Musings From A Recent Passer
Hello fine people of the Bar Exam subreddit! I wanted to pop in very briefly to extend my congratulations upon your graduation from law school. You've accomplished truly a Herculean feat and for which you should be proud of yourselves! Now, you find yourself in the hard part of things. Bar prep is a grueling process, but one you will get through! As a brief aside about myself, I took the Ohio bar in July of 2021 (The remote COVID Bar) and did not pass. I then took the February 2022 Ohio bar (the first UBE administration in Ohio), and I passed. Below with some of my advice, musings, and a few suggestions as you tackle this hard time.
First, do not attempt to bite off more than you can chew. If you were not one of those people that studied for 10 to 12 hours at a clip, do not attempt to do that now. The old saying is absolutely true: quality over quantity. It is better to have two or three absolutely rock solid hours a day, then to have 8 hours where you mostly screw around on your phone or are otherwise distracted and only get through really 2-3 hours worth of work. While you may be seeing this as a massive Usain Bolt-esque sprint, it's more of a thousand yard dash. You need to keep constant speed and momentum in order to cross the finish line. Find out where you top out for the day, and when you're done, pull the plug! If you find that you are not making headway with lectures, stop for the day! Instead, take that time and read the Conviser (BARBRI folks know what I'm taking about, and for those that don't, it's an abreviated form of the outlines for a given subject), do some flash cards, some multiple choice, anything. Don't keep smacking your fist into the wall, instead, let the process work for you! :)
Second, you will suck when you start! That's totally acceptable. Most of these topics you haven't seen in at least 3 years, even if you took a bar prep course at your law school of choice. Even then, you only got the cursory 30,000 ft overview. They're really taking you into the nitty gritty here, so you have to keep that in mind.
Third, it is normal to poorly on multiple choices fine, as well as essays, even when you are nearing the end! You are exhausted and mentally taxed. However, no matter what you do, always review your answers! What I got in the habit of doing was working on a set of multiple choice questions, grading myself, and taking a break. I would take maybe 20 minutes to collect my thoughts, calm down if I had done bad or well, and come with fresh eyes to evaluate the situation. Essays are a little bit different in my opinion, however. Do not immediately grade any essays that you see, or look at the model answer as soon as you finish, because it's all too easy to say "Oh, I got that!" In my most humble of opinion, I would always string together two to three essays and evaluate them in one shot. Now, you won't be there right away, but even one essay at a time, it's smart to make sure that you're taking a step back and evaluating always with fresh eyes.
Fourth, you're not going for 100%! It's easy to fall into that trap too, as we are constantly looking to be perfect as lawyers. As Chuck Rhodes Jr. said on Bllions "We [lawyers] are steeped in a culture of perfection." You're looking, as your Themis or Barbri course told you, for somewhere around a D+ plus to a C-. Keep that in mind, because there will be days that it knocks you down when you keep getting low scores. Every day, you get a little bit better, and that's how this exam works. Even if you get a 65% on a given multiple choice set, that could be passing in your jurisdiction (obviously if extrapolated out to the entirety of an MBE administration).
Fifth, if you haven't nailed down your lodging accommodations for your exam, should you require them, I recommend you lock that down absolutely as soon as possible. When I took the Ohio bar, there's a Holiday Inn that's attached to the center where you take the exam. I purposely didn't stay there, because I felt being around a bunch of nervous bar examinees would possibly subconsciously mess with my head. I stayed a little bit outside of the area, and to me, it made all the difference! Consider things like that before booking the convenient option.
Sixth, if you can have a support person, such as a mom, a dad, or another family member, I recommend you take them. They'll be there to keep you calm and help you should you have any last minute crises. Also, be sure to not vary your diet very much in the day or two leading up to the bar. Ideally, my preferred diet was protein shakes, peanut butter bread, bananas, and other easy to digest foods. I know this sounds kind of gross, but there's always one person every single cycle that decides to go get some kind of exotic meal the night before the second day, and has a really bad time!
Seventh, take care of your mental health. If you're using BARBRI, I know for a fact the tool allows you to book days off and adjusts your workload accordingly. I believe Themis may have similar qualities as well. Be sure to take time for yourself throughout the process. There is a lot of information that's going to come your way and it all needs time to settle in. Book several days off now, so that you not only have something to look forward to, but that you know that when you take a day off, you really earned it!
Finally, always keep in mind that this entire process is total nonsense! If you're smart enough to pass law school, you're smart enough to pass this exam! It doesn't matter where you're from, who you are, or anything at all about you! Get in there, and show the gatekeepers that you're more than worthy!
My thoughts and prayers are with you all as you embark on this journey! Take care and I hope to greet you all as Esquire soon! :)
P.S: the following is a playlist of music that I use to help keep me calm while I did bar exam essays and multiple choice sets. I hope it's able to help you as much as it helped me!

2023.05.28 04:11 ArchDukeNemesis Every NWA, WCW & WWE world heavyweight championship run from 1904-2023 combined, if every champion held the belt once.
To celebrate the "Return" of the "Big Gold Belt" on Raw, I thought I'd make a history combining all title runs from the first world heavyweight championship, through it's time in the NWA, its two off shoots in WCW and its appropriation by WWE. All lineages combined, all vacancies ignored, all reigns recognized and all champions holding the belt once.

2023.05.28 02:00 BlueArchiveMod Daily Questions Megathread May 28, 2023
Please use this thread to ask any questions you have about the game.

2023.05.28 00:59 mikhailnikolaievitch Respect Ultimate Wolverine (Marvel, 1610)
"Maybe your mutation isn't about healing at all. It's about surviving."
History: Years of torture and tampering with his memories made much of Wolverine's past a mystery. Though it's known he was a Canadian paratrooper during WWII, the man known as James "Lucky Jim" Howlett became one of the most influential figures in history when government experiments turned him into the world's first mutant.
Eventually renamed Logan, by the time he escaped the Weapon X program he became better known as Wolverine. He was given
enhanced senses, an
accelerated healing factor, and
razor sharp claws. His
entire skeleton was coated in an indestructible metal known as adamantium, and his memories were rewired to optimize their battle efficiency. He was the perfect weapon...and then he escaped.
Though he served Magneto's Brotherhood of Mutant Supremacy, Wolverine turned on Magneto to serve the X-Men as one of its fiercest proponents. Inspired by Xavier's dream, Wolverine never quite uncovered the secrets of his past, nor did he find much happiness in his present. But when he gave his life to save the world he proved his redemption, and survived in the memories of the X-Men who cared for him and the son that never knew him.

2023.05.28 00:27 Small_Bet_9433 Big 12 Programs (Texas and Oklahoma Schools) That Have Played Teams They Have Never Beaten (as of the 2022 season)
The Big-12 doesn't have divisions, so I decided to split the conference by geography. Today will the Texas and Oklahoma teams while tomorrow will be the rest of the conference plus the other three newcomers. The four teams joining the conference aren't officially members yet, but I thought it would be informative to include them on this list. Even more so since they all have yet to beat certain big 12 programs. As always, the year in parenthesis is the date each team last played each other. If I missed any dates or matchups, please let me know!
