Or the even bigger issue of no snowball or clarity or even flash. And I get to watch them just get kited out harassed down or out of mana and on another issue blindly building mr or armor when they don’t have that dmg but that’s more of a smooth brain problem. There has to be enough data collected for that to be possible as some one who only plays aram for a quick game when I can it would definitely help the game mode all together

i have noo right to criticize how people build their champions in ARAM, but it's just a bit frustrating how people don't wanna build anti-heal in a game with any champs who have sustains in their kit or items with omnivamp/lifesteal. and most ADCs just completely skip either of those items, knowing how good it is as their powerspike items. is it normal for your games? are the items that bad to build?

Training sessions: participation will be short, payment based on salary

"The draft proposes that, when engaging an employee for a period of up to 30 days, the employer should pay at least the positive difference between the employee's basic salary and the monetary security calculated as a serviceman for each working day. For example, if an employee's salary is 200,000 drams, the latter participates in training sessions, and in return, as compensation, receives 80,000 drams from the Ministry of Defense, then the employer is obliged to pay the remaining part, at least 120,000 drams.
The minister clarifies that the employer does not have the obligation to pay wages to the employee who participates in the training sessions. It is only established that the workplace and the position are preserved. At this moment, the official rate for the assigned military position is calculated for the citizen.
The proposed regulation will make it possible to maintain the salary of the training camp participants. The Prime Minister reminds that the three-month period has been reduced to 25 days.
"At the same time, we have a regulation that when implementing the plan for training sessions, we should not invite more than a certain percentage of employees from the same institution to a training session, so that there is no burden on the institutions."
According to the decision of the government, from April 15 to June 15 of this year, training camps of reservists will be held. The reservists of the first and second ranks of the first group of reservists will be involved in them. Up to 953 citizens will participate in training sessions. 476 of them will be junior non-commissioned officers and privates, 25 will be senior non-commissioned officers, and 452 will be officer reservists. Reservists with motor rifle, rocket artillery, air defense, communications, reconnaissance, engineering, and technical specialties will participate in this 25-day gathering.
The 25-day gatherings in Armenia started this spring. In the first stage, according to the decision of the government, more than 3 thousand citizens were involved in the gatherings. The 25-day muster will be mandatory for all reservists between the ages of 20 and 55. Moreover, the citizen himself will choose what time of the year he can devote to it. This was announced by the Minister of Defense in October last year.
"We refuse the three-month gatherings. In fact, 21 days are the main service, 25 are for providing the organizational one. A citizen spends 7 days in training, 14 days in combat duty. The upcoming gatherings will be 25 days long. We refuse the three-month meetings. But it is mandatory for all RA citizens."
The Executive Committee believes that this is one of the important steps to have a professional army.

I went from her to Eve and now I’m back so any help would be greatly appreciated.

With the insane rise of Aurelion / Annie / Veigar winrates, it brings to question the idea of items that allow for a champ to root another, essentially adding cc to champs that already have it. As someone that’s played league for a pretty long time, I remember there being a time where items could slow or “siphon speed,” but I don’t remember there being anything akin to an ever frost that fully would stun. Now I know that aurelion commonly builds RoA or Torment (if hard winning lane). Nonetheless I’ve run into SO many Annie players and veigar players that will cage/stun you and THEN get a free everfrost. This was also the case with Ahri back in the day where she would take everfrost to either slow someone for a free charm or charm and then everfrost for free. Is it healthy to have an item (which I know at the MOMENT is weak but could at any time be tweaked to be stronger). That gives champs their own follow-up cc or even cc they never had. Doesn’t that take away from a weakness a champion SHOULD have?

For those who aren't aware, Legends of Runeterra has started making a habit of explicitly revealing and demystifying characters from champion backstories alongside their champion's release. The first major example of this was Norra, Yuumi's old master. No fanfare, no story, no lore outside of her flavour text. Just another card in the game. Alongside her we've had:

• An entire court of apparently benevolent inhabitants of the Shadow Isles' mist
• Additional Vesani and Oovi Kat, of which Ahri and Neeko were supposed to be the last
• An entire guild of Durand like sculptors, and half a dozen more golems like Galio
• A whole host of new Daarkin
• 2 more demons, one of which apparently dwells inside Tibbers and is how Annie can control fire (which retcons SO MUCH stuff)
• A cult of demons, bound to Evelynn
• And now, Sett's father, AKA, the main driving force behind Sett's entire character motivation

All these are barely scratching the surface. These characters each hold so much story significance, but are all showing up with no story, build up, or context, and, in doing so, are lessening each character, which in turn makes any future teases of characters that much weaker as, in all likelihood, we're just going to get these characters showing up with just a 2 line blurb a couple months later. The hints at Milio's treasonous grandma still residing in Ixaocan is an intriguing possibility, but if all it leads to is a 5 mana 6/6 with half a quote stitched on, that intrigue is lost and that story line is wasted. Even if the we get more lore around her later, the initial reveal being wasted in such a way inherently lessens any impact that could have.
Even if it's trying to be it's own alternate universe thing, how badly it's handling what should be such interesting and major characters is doing more harm than good to the world it's based on, and undermining the main lore at every turn.
Maybe I'm missing the mark here, but I cannot comprehend why these important characters keep being wasted in such minor roles, and can't help but fear the knock on effect this will have for the lore as a whole.

Edit: Probably an overflammatory title, but I would change it to that this change seems like a swing-and-miss on the problems of the mode.
In the most recent patch, Riot nerfed the armoMR of towers from 75 each to 60 each, making towers squishier and easier to kill.
This change flagrantly demonstrates that Riot has no idea what the problems in ARAM are, and how this change makes those even worse. Riot's cited reason for this change is that ARAM games are last too long...but I'm not sure if that's a problem for them or the player base. I'd be genuinely curious if players were bothered right now with the length of ARAM games....bearing in mind that over and over and over and over again players who are about to lose ask the enemy team not to end so they can play longer.
The problems in ARAM are:
The game is stuck dead even until a team wins a big fight and the enemy team loses both towers and inhibitor at once. There's no incremental gain/loss, it's all or nothing. And now towers die even faster. The problem isn't the durability of towers, because they die fast when you have access to them, the problem is that you can go 6-10 minutes between windows where you can hit towers.
Towers are already jokes because they should give the defending team stronger AOE buffs because too often teams get dove under the first tower and sometimes the second tower even while the first is alive because the towers don't do enough damage and don't provide much security. Maybe this shouldn't be changed for the 2nd tower and the nexus towers, but for sure the first tower needs to give some stand-your-ground ability for teams that are weak early.
ARAM right now I think has a problem with snowballing, where the team that gets ahead ends up ahead in gold, experience, and map position all at once and making comebacks is really hard. Even if your team starts to outplay and come back, the super minions impede your team's ability to push and the gold lead is too much to deal with on a map where you can't go farm sidelanes or jungle to generate economy. While in theory, nerfing tower durability makes comebacks easier, the super minions keep the lane state stuck on the losing team's side of the map to where often they can't even hit the enemy towers, so I think it's a moot point that you've made the towers squishier.
I think generating passive gold faster in the mode is a better answer, as it gets player builds online quicker, thus making the game mode more satisfying, and would de facto reduce tower tankiness b/c champs are getting more AD and AP earlier.

Bladestorm 100% melee build - fun and end game viable
A full melee build. No cheating minion or spell or projectile crap. Every skill is melee type, not even Flight of Gavanir is allowed because true melee players know that is a projectile. Livor Mortis, despite his warrior like appearance, is a pansy mage skill so will not be allowed. Besides, we don't need no other hired help. Aether Jump to restore our Rage is also for cheating skirt-wearing Nancys and outlawed (although if you get a 300+ damage weapon or 50/40 shield with Aether Jump feel free to IM me)

Wanna get the max enjoyment out of Wolcen's juicy combat? Get up close and personal with the enemy? Send bits of flesh flying everywhere? Maybe get that level 90 undying achievement? You've come to the right place!
I will preface this by saying the damage is great, but not as good as a projectile build. The mobility at max damage configuration is.. let's just say you don't send this character to the shop to buy milk. It truly excels in close quarters, and those tiny arenas packed with monsters are your bread and butter. You also can't kill high level loot goblins in time, the annoying slippery bastards usually get away
Active playstyle - you will be banging all those skills in the most intense fights. Note that for most of the game you can actually play a much more traditionally mobile setup by changing Bladestorm to the continuous (hold down) Rune, but the damage output will be considerably lower and not viable at eye-watering levels
Gate of Fates
Get Furious Appetite first, then balance going for damage/defence nodes based on whether you're not doing enough damage, or dying too easily. The "Soldier" section is to manage rage, take if required
In terms of damage output, these are the most important Nodes in decending order

• Frenzied Blows - 100% multiplier (with +Rage/Willpower for consistency)
• Flurrying Flames - 25% attack speed, hard to estimate impact on Bladestorm nodes
• Undertaker - 0% - 100% multiplier (or even more)
• Beacon for the Lost (+1) - 35% multiplier. Added Sacred bypasses Gods Among Men
• Disallowing Vessel - 30% multiplier
• Intravenous Neural Cord - 20% attack speed
• Gods Among Men - 20% multiplier

Appetite for Bloodshed helps sustain rage provided you are surrounded by enemies. If you have problems, then take heat of the battle and the 16% reduced rage cost.

We use the shockwave setup and not continuous mode because that's the only way to keep damage competitive at high levels. For lower levels you can use the continuous mode [rune 6]. Note that Bladestorm movement does not count against disallowing vessel, which is highly convenient. We also get extra damage per ailment on the enemy, and it may be possible to leverage this further with ailment stack Sarisel mods
Anvil of Woe [1, 3, 6, 10, 13, 15] - Default]
Used to chunk down stubborn single targets. Make sure you're not going to be knocked back, you generally want to wait for a stun (or apply one yourself), and putting on Juggernaut during this delicate process is advised. My best AoW is 19million. Feel free to show your best screenshots!

Always have B4B up note that your life will yo-yo in the most intense fights and you gain extra damage for missing life. There is a unique which applies this for you, freeing up a skill slot. I need to test it some more. Chance to kill on 30%

Armour
Material damage on all items. You can try Head/Chest/Legs heavy for block chance if you don't have a good shield, otherwise Rogue for movement speed is best. Dodge comes on Rogue/Brusier item slots. +Willpower helps with Rage restoration, you want over 100. This mod is on Rogue/Mage Head/Body/Legs although I do not recommend Mage. You can just get it on your accessory gems though. Sshield with as close to 50% block as possible. Look for shields with both Block Chance & Block Efficiency. Goal is 100 chance and 80 efficiency which are the caps
Accessories
Note that on rings you only get elemental flat damage, which will be a blank stat. For this reason I use Seal of the Arbiter x2, despite the terrible speed penalty. Seems to work well! But you can get rings with other useful stats instead Material%, Toxic%, Resistances, Dodge, Life, transfer speed
Gems

• Lots of Alexandrite gems for the block stats
• In your accessories you're going to use up to 4 Amethyst for 25 willpower each
• Weapon Emerald for Toxic

Attributes
Mostly you'll dump everything into Ferocity. As a rule of thumb, I want to see 50% critical strike chance on the Attributes sheet, while in town
You need to add as much Toughness as required to not be getting too close to death. So this will also depend on your block efficiency and resistances. It's a bit of a feel, not a hard and fast amount, but roughly : Ferocity 80-90% and Toughness 10-20%
Now there is a possibility that it's worth investing in Agility to scale attack speed further. Bladestorm ticks have breakpoints. it used to be that you wanted about 160% attack speed to maximise this. I am not sure now. But the GoF and skill mechanics we use to increase attack speed are far more efficient than using Agility

Some general descriptions about the situations in eastern Asia by that time
Some quick background:
By the year of 1649, which was five years after the Manchus, a semi-nomadic tribe, descended from the seemingly unbreakable great wall and achieved their great feat of conquering Northern China, the authority conducted a census and found out by that time there were only 55330 adult males in the entire population. In the mean time, they have to deal with more than 100 millions subjugated Chinese. This sheer difference of numbers between the conqueror and the conquered forced practically every Manchus men to become soldiers, including the author of this diary.
The author acted sort of like a nowadays squad leader in the Manchus army, for he had 4 soldiers under his command. However, Since the Manchus army suffered from the above mentioned predicament of lacking manpower, he , as a born Manchus himself, actually enjoyed a very trusted position in the eyes of his general and could get in touch with some ultra confidential information/ high level officials every now and then.
The diary itself covered a period of roughly 3 years: from the New year's day of 1680 to 1682, and it mainly focused on the author's military career during the Manchus conquest of the southern China. Although as you can probably tell from reading his work, the author himself was not exactly the most educated and bright guy on the earth and due to the nature of his job this diary's narration suffered badly from many huge gaps, it was a really unique and extremely valuable piece of historical source and eye-witness account.
I wish I could translate all of them but for now please enjoy the first five months of this diary that I have already translated!

In the reign of Elhetaifin khan(the original text omitted this title here, yet the author did use Khan to address his monarch in the later part of the dairy. The Chinese word for Elhetaifin was Kang xi), in year 19, the canary monkey year of the Manchu calendar.
The new year‘s day: General Manggitv(this is apparently either a spelling mistake or a nickname, since this general's name was actually Manggitu as we can find from the later part of the diary and other history sources) led his councilors,janggins (a Manchu military title)and local officials to the city of Nan ning fu (The word fu already means city in Chinese , but the author,as a Manchu, clearly was unaware of it and he probably thought it is a part of the city’s name. So in the original text he wrote Nan ning fui hoton, in which hoton means city in Manchus,thus it could be translated as the city of Nan ning city). They entered the Dung Yoo miyoo(meaning the temple of eastern mountains in Chinese) and made a dedication to the divine. The subordinates of the councillors prostrated themselves to each other to show their courtesy. By the time of the festival, the janggins of the eight banners and soldiers started to eat and drink, even those armoured bayaras(one of the most elite Manchu military units) went on the street, they got some women’s clothes and wore them themselves to pretend like women, and they sang along with those who were singing the song of Doo yang ke (again, ke already means song in Chinese, and the author was not aware of that. I think making this kind of mistake twice probably suggests the author has no knowledge of the Chinese language.)to entertain themselves. The image of the old men (sakdasa in the original text, which probably refers to the author’s parents) emerged in my heart, fuck.
25th,February: Shang zhi xin(a Chinese dynast who serves the Manchus), the mighty conqueror general, the king who pacified the south; along with Manggitu,the general of the south theatre; Ecu, the general of Jiangning; Lebei and Hife, the counsellor and lord of the banner; and Ehene, the vice janggin, met together to hold a war council on the best method to enter and conquer Yun nan(a province in southwestern China).The plan was made, and it was decided that we should initiate the invasion next winter. I sewed a tent and saddle for my horse(not sure what exactly that means,do horses need tents?) and also fixed my weapons.
3rd,March: Mang(this time for sure a nickname of general Manggitu, potentially coined by the author himself) said there was a decree issued from the khan’s court…..(the content of the decree was too long and rather irrelevant, so I did not translate it). I took some time to finish the necessary maintenance.
5th,March: The date of departure was approaching, so an order was given to us to prepare our weapons.
6th,March: Ganduhai and other low-ranked janggins strictly inspected the quantity of the horses. The message of Ma qiyang yen’s rebellion against us was delivered to our camp again, he was the Chinese governor of Bin jeo.
13th,March: General Mang(nickname of Manggitu) selected 3 bayaras from each niru(the manchu equivalent of battalion, roughly 300 men strong), and he handled this force to Hife, the lord of the banner, and Ehene, the janggin of the flag(apparently Mr Ehene got recently promoted). Hife also had 5 regiments of Chinese auxiliary forces under his command, each of which was 1000 men strong . With this army, he was ordered to fight the above-mentioned rebel Ma Qiyang Yen, and he then marched towards the direction of Bin jeo.This day my eight horses(the author forgot to use plural form and accusative case here,I assume it was due to his depression)were stolen by thieves. My heart feels so heavy. After reporting this to the general, the general informed the officials and the civilians about this matter, and an investigation was initiated; it turned out to be fruitless.
16th,March: General Ecu reached Nanning city(I assume the author was learning Chinese, since this time he did not say the city of Nanning city again)from the county of Yung Mvn by water.
20th,March: The military horse from Yung Mvn also reached our camp. The general ordered to allocate these military horses from Yung mvn among those armored soldiers who did not have one. At that time (the couriers) did not want to surrender the horses, so (the general) scolded the leaders of every regiment, calling them weak. General Mang gathered all those janggins of the camps together and told them: "Why have those horses not been allocated as ordered yet? You were ignoring my orders! It was not even something hard to do, yet you refused to follow it! Now, go and bring those horses to the city, they are government property! " Then the matter was finally settled.
25th,March: We departed from Nanning city and I was leading a squad of four soldiers in a niru. Mang the general and Lebei, Hife the lord of the banner, led the army, aiming to reach Liu zhou. We marched past the Jing ceng sy(a Chinese temple) and Kun lun pass.
In five days, we marched 170 ba(a Manchu unit of length, each ba equals roughly 500 meters)
30th,March: We reached Bin Jeo; first, we met the Bayara force; then, I and my squad were allocated to the ranks of the Aliha force(it is a combined force of Mongol and Manchu soldiers.The word Aliha means "those who are in charge").We then formed a new platoon.
1st,April: A servant of my platoon mate Hooxan distributed some beef among us. These beef meats were acquired through killing some random natives. This was discovered by the general’s own armoured guards. He called me and other squad leaders to his tent, then he asked us to sit down and comforted us with his kind words. I felt so ashamed. In the end, we were all punished, Ganduhai was sentenced to a fine of three months' salary, I and the vice janggin Dandai were sentenced to a fine of six months' salary. Bosoku (a Manchu military title, refers to a low-ranking cavalry officer) was sentenced to 70 strokes of the cane. Hooxan from the Booju niru,who was the master of the servant, was sentenced to 80 strokes of the cane. The servant was sentenced to 100 strokes of the cane.
4th, April: The rations of the army were running out, so the general decided to move the camp. We moved to a place that was 15 ba away from Bin Jeo. We were ordered to search for food in every nearby village and to hull rice plants if we could find any. I sent the children of my servant to the village,(they)discovered some rice plants hidden by the villagers in their basements, (we)dug a hole in the ground to hull the rice.
6th, April: The Chinese auxiliary force was ordered to build a temporary bridge on the river near Bin Jeo.
8th, April: A decree was issued by the ministry:"Prince kemungge and Brother king Shang zhi xin(previously mentioned Chinese dynast who supports Manchu rule) ,please(the original text was,quite surprisingly, using operative mood) meet together, then use your joint force to attack Ma qiyang yen’s force.General Manggitu, why have you not launched the campaign to enter and conquer Yun nan? You need to explain this to us immediately" Then we heard again the rumour that Hai Qing county,Jin Men, and Xia Men of Fu Jian province were conquered by our empire.
13th,April: Once again, a scolding message was sent from the ministry, asking us to enter and conquer Yun nan.
16th,April:Since the servant of the soldier( probably referring to the Hooxan incident)harmed the local people, a decree that barred all soldiers from leaving their post was issued.
19th,April: We crossed the river near Bin jeo, marching 15 ba, and then we established our camp at a place called Too deng near Xa Moo San. I made a small shack for myself with grass. This day the brother king(Shang zhi xin) sent a letter to our camp:" governor Jin (a Chinese) is leading the marine force and traveling by water with 23 boats. I myself am currently dwelling with military governor Jelken. We shall start to move with our force on April 15th. I pray that your excellency could capture Lai Bin County; in the mean time, I will go and capture Vsiowan County. I hope I can meet you at that place. I wish we could then discuss whether we should wait for Prince Kemungge or simply attack Liu zhou with our own force." And the mighty baturu(meaning great warrior), the man born for war, the governor of Yun Gui, general Zhao liang dong( a Chinese general who served in Manchu army, he was greatly respected by the author)also sent a secret message to our camp: "The leader of the rebels Wu san gui, Wu guo gui were now dead. The ones left were Wu ying qi, Wu Shi Fan, and Hu Gui Zhu. They were nothing but a bunch of incompetent dollards and their morale was already shattered. This is the time to conquer Szechuan! Four(armies)need to conduct attacks together, we shall capture all their land, and it will be done in one strike!" I carefully and respectfully heard his message .
23th,April: The war council decided to capture Lai Bin first. Thus, an order to prepare a ration of one month’s worth was issued. I ordered someone to dig a hole in the ground to hull the rice plants.
28th,April: The soldiers were sent out to collect enemy intelligence. I also went out with them.
29th,April: I was sick, I puked.
1st, May: Prince Elhe himself was leading his army back to the north, it was said they were going back to Beijing, I went out to follow him, but contrary to my wish, I failed to go back, fucking frastrute(author made a spelling mistake here, and it was followed by a large gap period, so he was probably super fed up).
7th, May: The rebel leaders from Yun nan,namely Fan Qi Han and Jan Yang, joined forces with Ma Qiyang yen and crossed the river near Lai Bin. We heard that they stopped near the Da Xi Bridge. General Mang ordered all the men to stay within the camp and build fortifications. My troops also participated in building the defences, and they were all complaining.
13th, May: The hostile force was approaching, they stopped at a place 5 ba away from us and set up camp on a monticule. General mixed the Chinese auxiliary forces and our own forces together in order to defend the camp. I was personally patrolling the camp with my full-set of armour on for the entire day.
15th,May: Subordinates of the rebel Ma qiyang yen, fake general Ma qiyang lei, and Rao yi lung,together with the other rebel’s fake generals Fan qi han and Jan yang from Yun nan challenged us with more than 10 thousand soldiers. They arranged many anti-horse obstacles and large barriers near Too Deng. The army of the enemy itself was drawn up in a four-line formation and was equipped with many muskets and elephants. Seeing this, General Mang ordered every subcamp to select 1 janggin and 10 armoured soldiers to secure the luggage. Then the rest of the army went out to fight the enemy. Our army was marshalled as follows: "Hife, the lord of the banner, stood at the front of the first line to coordinate the attack. The troops in the second line were commanded by Masita. The first line of the right wing, in the meantime, was commanded by Ehene. The flank troops of the left wing were commanded by Lebei. In front of the whole army, the general placed the Chinese auxiliary force and their artillery." The enemy rushed towards us; they broke through our first line like it was nothing, and the Chinese could not stop the charging enemy, so they fled from the battle. Seeing this, the banner men from plain red and plain yellow organised two simultaneous attacks with great passion; they penetrated the enemy line, creating two gaps. Yet the enemies fought unyieldingly; they reorganised and concentrated all their forces to strike towards us, ignoring the plain red and yellow bannermen at their flank. Our troops could not stop them, so we started to retreat scatteredly. I saw it all myself, how they drove the bannermen from the bordered blue banner to their anti-horse obstacle. But all of a sudden, the bannermen being chased stopped, and a series of strange "picyang" sounds came from the enemy's direction. Then I saw the soldiers of the first line somehow managed to drive the elephants towards us while the military standards of the bordered yellow banner’s bayara janggin Valda and aliha army(the unit author belonged to)’s vice bosoku( the bosoku himself was probably still recovering from the cane stroke) Ulehi were seized by the enemy. At that time, the soldiers of the second line, including me, saw hardly any option but to shoot desperately towards those beasts. They were charging us from all directions, so we had to shoot while standing back to back, and the elephants looked like hedgehogs. When the elephants acted like grey fishes,(elephants) fled away. My heart felt really strange at that instance, and I could not stop it from beating like crazy. The hostile army then left the plain and retreated to the forest on the mountains. They again arranged some anti-horse obstacles there later that day. We did not fight them again, for our forces went back to the camp to spend the night while defending our fortifications.

Back in January, I spontaneously booked a group tour to Syria through a travel agency Rocky Road Travel that specialises in tours to "unique" destinations (think Syria, Iraq, South Sudan, Yemen, and more).
I had a good experience with Rocky Road on the lead up to the tour - great communication and thorough information throughout which made me feel a lot more comfortable with going to a destination which is still technically in a state of Civil War. Bear in mind, although I prefer to solo travel - it is not allowed in Syria and you must be booked on with either a group or private tour, although keep in mind a private tour is a lot more expensive. Everyone else on the tour was as solo traveller and none of us knew eachother before it started.
Pre-tour: Beirut
The trip started off in Beirut, Lebanon, and that is where the rest of my tourmates flew into. Due to sanctions, there are very few airlines that fly directly into Damascus and I believe the majority of people start their tour in Beirut.
I had great expectations for Beirut. It used to be dubbed as the "Paris of the East" (or something like that) in years gone by. However, the recent economic crisis has really hit the country hard. 75% of its population has plunged into poverty and you can really see that. I was often pestered by beggars in serious despair. If I could help everyone out a little bit, I would. But the sheer level of poverty in Beirut really is staggering. You could really see it in people's faces that they were struggling - restaurants, cafes, shops... everything was empty.
The government of Beirut still pegs 1USD to 15,000 Lebanese Lira. Although the black market rate was 88,000 when I arrived. When I came back to Beirut after my Syria trip, the black market rate had gone up to 102,000. That being said, I did a 3 hour tour with Zingy tours who I can recommend - they take you around the mosques and churches of the city as well as seeing the port and a boat tour around Pigeon rocks to top it all off.
Day 1: Beirut to Damascus and exploring Damascus
We were picked up outside a hotel in Hamra (the tourist area of Beirut) early in the next morning for our trip to Syria. At this point I had now met 3 of the other travellers who would also be going to Syria. There was another 4 in another car who we had not met yet.
The drive to the Syrian border takes you through central and eastern Lebanon, which is beautiful in its own right. The journey only takes about 2 hours and was relatively easy. Exiting Lebanon was pretty seamless and you can change USD to Syrian Pounds on the Lebanese side. I changed $80USD and got ~560,000 Syrian, which was more than enough for the 4 days. Bear in mind the highest note they have is 5,000 - so you get a massive brick of cash which you have to keep in a plastic bag.
On the Syrian side, you pay a man who gives you a receipt, which allows you to get the Syrian visa on arrival. As a UK citizen it cost $140, for EU citizens it was $70. When I went there, US citizens were not allowed into the country - that being said, I did see on social media that Rocky Road would now take US citizens so maybe this has changed. I do believe a visa on arrival for a US citizen would be closer to the rate I paid as a UK citizen given the US occupies land near the Iraq border and has an active military base in Syria.
The drive from the Syrian side of the border to Damascus only took an hour or so. In Damascus, our group stayed at the Mamlouka Hotel which was a traditional Damascene house. Here, we had a good chance to meet our fellow tour mates. My group consisted of 3 Brits, 2 Germans, 2 Swedes, and an Aussie all ranging in ages from 18 to 50. Everyone had different reasons for travelling - three were on a quest to visit every country in the world, one was on a gap year, some just wanted to see a new culture, and a couple of us were there to see Syria with our own eyes and not simply through the lens of the media.
We had two guides for our tour, which was very useful and allowed us to all get an opportunity to ask questions when we wanted. On this first day, we visited St Ananius Church, Straight Street, explored the Jewish Quarter, and went to a traditional Damascene cafe where a storyteller reads a section of Arabian Nights every night. We finished the day off by visiting a traditional Syrian restaurant.
We had free time after this, but after a long day of travelling and exploring the city on foot, I went straight to bed.
Day 2: The Long Journey to Aleppo (via Maloula and Homs)
Breakfast at the hotel consisted of some traditional middle eastern dishes such as houmous and flatbread as well as the more traditional eggs, fruit, etc. We left Damascus at about 9am with our first stop being Maloula, an ancient Christian city about 50km north.
Damascus had, by and large, been relatively untouched by the war. However, as soon as you headed north of the city, bombed out towns and villages lined the highway. Within an hour, we were at Maloula, home to the convent of St. Thecla. In this village, some of the locals still speak the language of Jesus Christ - Aramaic. A worker at the church recited the Lord's Prayer in Aramic, which was really unique to hear.
After a quick coffee at a local cafe, we walked up to what was once the Ambassador Hotel, which had been destroyed in a suicide car bomb attack that acted as a signal for the Al-Qaeda affiliated Nusra Front, who went on to hold the town for six or so months. 13 Nuns were held hostage during this time and we even got to meet and speak with one.
Our final stop before heading all the way to Aleppo was in Homs. Here we had a delicious lunch, once again filled with traditional Syrian food. Our guides took us to the old city of Homs, which was one of the most destroyed places we had seen on our trip. It was in this part of the city that in every direction, every building was completely bombed out (apart from the Mosque which had recently been rebuilt). This was really sad.
Another stop for a tea and coffee and a walk through Homs bazaar helped take edge off such a dark history. The new part of the city was by and large rebuilt and bustling with people.
It took another 3 hours or so to get to Aleppo, when we had some falafel as well as free time to explore the city at night.
Day 3: Exploring Aleppo
For the first time on the trip, day 3 allowed us to stay in the same city for the whole day. We were taken on a tour of the old souk, a hamam, and a soap factory (which makes soap in an old 800 year old way).
After this, we went to the famous Aleppo Citadel. It was fantastic to see and thankfully had not been too badly damaged by the war and recent earthquake.
A personal highlight of the trip was following all the sightseeing, we were given the chance to volunteer and help with a local charity who made meals for those most affected by the earthquake. 90% of Syrians live in poverty and to do something that, at the very least, helped give them a meal made me feel a little better about the trip, despite the reservations I had (see below).
We had another fantastic dinner in the evening at an Armenian restaurant. During our free time in the evening, myself and a few others spent some time at a local bar just hanging out, having drinks, talking with locals, and all in all having a pleasant time.
Day 4: Return to Damascus
The drive back to Damascus was broken up with a stop in Hama, the city of ancient waterwheels. It was a really unique and interesting place and was cool to see how the waterwheels used to deliver water back in the old days.
We had a few other quick stops for some food, but by and large spent a good portion of the day driving. Arriving back in Damascus in the early evening, we had some free time to get our dinner. A few of us even went to a karaoke bar for the evening!
Day 5: Half day in Damascus, followed by a return to Beirut
The last day was probably the least exciting day. We had some free time in the morning before heading to the National Museum to see some ancient artifacts that were excavated in Syria. It was very interesting but due to a lack of time we had to rush through a little bit.
Following this, we had one last falafel, said goodbye to our drivers, and were on our way back to Beirut.
Final thoughts and what you should know about visiting Syria

• Safety: I never felt unsafe on this tour, even during free time when we were allowed to wander on our own. If you are a westerner going on a group tour to government-controlled parts of Syria, you will be safe. The tours don't go anywhere near conflict zones and ISIS has been defeated there. That being said, due to a collapse in diplomatic relations with other countries, there are no embassies in case you get in trouble or lose your passport or anything. I would only go on one of these tours if you are a seasoned traveller.
• Propoganda: The Syrian regime of Bashar Al Assad is an authoritarian regime. His family has been in power for over 50 years and opposition is ruthlessly shut down. To go on a tour of Syria, you must use a government approved tour guide. As a result, these tour guides usually spout the regime view of the war (e.g. that chemical weapons didn't kill anyone and it was protestors who became violent during the Arab Spring and not the other way around). It's so so important that you do your own research before you go, otherwise there is a risk you believe every word the guide says and you may flat out never learn about the atrocities the regime has committed.
• Recognise how lucky you are: As I mentioned earlier, 90% of Syrians live in poverty. I met a Syrian refugee a few months back who said teachers in government controlled areas make $10USD/month. Everything is very cheap in Syria, but only because wages are so low. Most people you will meet in the city centres will be the top 1% of Syrians who can afford to go there. I exchanged an equivilent of $20/day I was there, and the reality was that my budget for a day was most Syrians budget for a month.

Some quick background: This diary was written by a Manchu soldier who served in a combined unit of Mongols and Manchus , he was sort of like a nowadays squad leader, for he had 4 soldiers under his command. The diary itself covered a period of roughly 3 years: from the New year's day of 1680 to 1682, and it mainly focused on the author's military career during the Manchu conquest of the southern China. Although as you can probably tell, the author himself was not exactly the most educated and bright guy on the earth and due to the nature of his job this diary's narration suffered badly from many huge gaps, it was a really unique and valuable piece of historical source.
In the reign of Elhetaifin khan(the original text omitted this title here, yet the author did use Khan to address his monarch in the later part of the dairy), in year 19, the canary monkey year of the Manchu calendar.
The new year‘s day: General Manggitv(this is apparently either a spelling mistake or a nickname, since this general's name was actually Manggitu as we can find from the later part of the diary and other history sources) led his councilors,janggins (a Manchu military title)and local officials to the city of Nan ning fu (The word fu already means city in Chinese , but the author,as a Manchu, clearly was unaware of it and he probably thought it is a part of the city’s name. So in the original text he wrote Nan ning fui hoton, in which hoton means city in Manchus,thus it could be translated as the city of Nan ning city). They entered the Dung Yoo miyoo(meaning the temple of eastern mountains in Chinese) and made a dedication to the divine. The subordinates of the councillors prostrated themselves to each other to show their courtesy. By the time of the festival, the janggins of the eight banners and soldiers started to eat and drink, even those armoured bayaras(one of the most elite Manchu military units) went on the street, they got some women’s clothes and wore them themselves to pretend like women, and they sang along with those who were singing the song of Doo yang ke (again, ke already means song in Chinese, and the author was not aware of that. I think making this kind of mistake twice probably suggests the author has no knowledge of the Chinese language.)to entertain themselves. The image of the old men (sakdasa in the original text, which probably refers to the author’s parents) emerged in my heart, fuck.
25th,February: Shang zhi xin(a Chinese dynast who serves the Manchus), the mighty conqueror general, the king who pacified the south; along with Manggitu,the general of the south theatre; Ecu, the general of Jiangning; Lebei and Hife, the counsellor and lord of the banner; and Ehene, the vice janggin, met together to hold a war council on the best method to enter and conquer Yun nan(a province in southwestern China).The plan was made, and it was decided that we should initiate the invasion next winter. I sewed a tent and saddle for my horse(not sure what exactly that means,do horses need tents?) and also fixed my weapons.
3rd,March: Mang(this time for sure a nickname of general Manggitu, potentially coined by the author himself) said there was a decree issued from the khan’s court…..(the content of the decree was too long and rather irrelevant, so I did not translate it). I took some time to finish the necessary maintenance.
5th,March: The date of departure was approaching, so an order was given to us to prepare our weapons.
6th,March: Ganduhai and other low-ranked janggins strictly inspected the quantity of the horses. The message of Ma qiyang yen’s rebellion against us was delivered to our camp again, he was the Chinese governor of Bin jeo.
13th,March: General Mang(nickname of Manggitu) selected 3 bayaras from each niru(the manchu equivalent of battalion, roughly 300 men strong), and he handled this force to Hife, the lord of the banner, and Ehene, the janggin of the flag(apparently Mr Ehene got recently promoted). Hife also had 5 regiments of Chinese auxiliary forces under his command, each of which was 1000 men strong . With this army, he was ordered to fight the above-mentioned rebel Ma Qiyang Yen, and he then marched towards the direction of Bin jeo.This day my eight horses(the author forgot to use plural form and accusative case here,I assume it was due to his depression)were stolen by thieves. My heart feels so heavy. After reporting this to the general, the general informed the officials and the civilians about this matter, and an investigation was initiated; it turned out to be fruitless.
16th,March: General Ecu reached Nanning city(I assume the author was learning Chinese, since this time he did not say the city of Nanning city again)from the county of Yung Mvn by water.
20th,March: The military horse from Yung Mvn also reached our camp. The general ordered to allocate these military horses from Yung mvn among those armored soldiers who did not have one. At that time (the couriers) did not want to surrender the horses, so (the general) scolded the leaders of every regiment, calling them weak. General Mang gathered all those janggins of the camps together and told them: "Why have those horses not been allocated as ordered yet? You were ignoring my orders! It was not even something hard to do, yet you refused to follow it! Now, go and bring those horses to the city, they are government property! " Then the matter was finally settled.
25th,March: We departed from Nanning city and I was leading a squad of four soldiers in a niru. Mang the general and Lebei, Hife the lord of the banner, led the army, aiming to reach Liu zhou. We marched past the Jing ceng sy(a Chinese temple) and Kun lun pass.
In five days, we marched 170 ba(a Manchu unit of length, each ba equals roughly 500 meters)
30th,March: We reached Bin Jeo; first, we met the Bayara force; then, I and my squad were allocated to the ranks of the Aliha force(it is a combined force of Mongol and Manchu soldiers.The word Aliha means "those who are in charge").We then formed a new platoon.
1st,April: A servant of my platoon mate Hooxan distributed some beef among us. These beef meats were acquired through killing some random natives. This was discovered by the general’s own armoured guards. He called me and other squad leaders to his tent, then he asked us to sit down and comforted us with his kind words. I felt so ashamed. In the end, we were all punished, Ganduhai was sentenced to a fine of three months' salary, I and the vice janggin Dandai were sentenced to a fine of six months' salary. Bosoku (a Manchu military title, refers to a low-ranking cavalry officer) was sentenced to 70 strokes of the cane. Hooxan from the Booju niru,who was the master of the servant, was sentenced to 80 strokes of the cane. The servant was sentenced to 100 strokes of the cane.
4th, April: The rations of the army were running out, so the general decided to move the camp. We moved to a place that was 15 ba away from Bin Jeo. We were ordered to search for food in every nearby village and to hull rice plants if we could find any. I sent the children of my servant to the village,(they)discovered some rice plants hidden by the villagers in their basements, (we)dug a hole in the ground to hull the rice.
6th, April: The Chinese auxiliary force was ordered to build a temporary bridge on the river near Bin Jeo.

Hello everyone. I have been dabbling with the midlane as a secondary for when I begin my climb (iron 1 atm). I have enjoyed vex and leblanc in the lane, leaning more towards vex. While her fear makes her a menace when the teams aram mid at 15, there is one thing that annoys me to no end. That is the rod and seraphs combo. It feels like in any lane that the opponent buys rod I just lose. Especially if they buy mercs too. With someone like veigar they get 400 health and more while also having the ap to one-shot you. While I barely phase him with my dodgeable poke. Then they get seraphs and have a shield making a seemingly squishy champ unkillable. In these situations should I be looking to clean up fights rather than engage or is their a better build path than ludens, shadowflame, etc. For these tankier ap champs?

So, Riot recently said that they are removing blind pick, since no one plays it and the few people that play it are stopping. In it's place they intend on adding a "quick game" queue.
My fear about that is that they are just making it blind pick but you being able to choose your role, I think that would be a waste of a feature. What I think they should do, is essentially ARAM in Summoners Rift (but not random).
The only place in League where you can play recklessly is ARAM. Even in modes like URF or Ultimate Spellbook, you have to be careful about how you play, because if you feed someone, you can make games completely unfun. In ARAM, due to how kills are worth less and how everyone gets constant gold from, it's extremely hard for champions to get fed, so you can pick champions you don't necessarily know how to play, you can go for wacky builds, you can play without worrying about trolling because even if you troll, the game isn't over for you.
However, ARAM has it's limitations. Some champions are straight up unplayable in ARAM simply because the gamemode doesn't provide the situations in which they would excel. If you want to casually 1v1 in sidelane, ARAM is not for that. If you enjoy the 2v2 of the botlane, you don't get that either. Quick game would be an excellent place to provide both that experiences without needing to get into a serious SR game.
In conclusion, many people don't play ARAM because they like to ARAM. Many people play ARAM because it's the only casual game mode league has.

Ok, so I love zyra. Know my KDA is bad, but seems like "every time" I get here my team looses. Is it because I farm to many minions or any advice on build here? Thanks in advance fellow aramer
