2023.05.29 16:27 ThatAnimeSnob Here is a far cooler version of The Silent Passages (spoilers for quests 3, 4, and 5 of the Return of the Witch Lord)
This is the first time I combine Quests from ROTWL because the next missions in line are very simple.
- The worthy ideas in The Silent Passages are the Death Mist and the tomb that returns ruined equipment. Both these ideas were kept in the revision I made (although the Death Mist got renamed to Bellthor gas).
- The worthy ideas in The Halls of Vision are the doors that open when you beat a Mummy and the keys that prevent the Mummies from attacking. Both these ideas were kept in the revision I made.
- The Gate of Bellthor is a troll Quest, since it’s unbeatable. You are meant to lose no matter what. I changed that detail to ‘defeated heroes in this Quest are automatically teleported away and become prisoners of the Witch Lord.’ Basically, you can defeat Bellthor and escape the dungeon, but there needs to be at least 1 hero who gets captured. Since the Bellthor gas hits Mind Points, the odds of the Barbarian losing in this Quest are high.
Proposed map:
The quest is now beatable Red numbers: The monsters in this room are magical guardians. When they are all defeated, the door with the same number unlocks.
Blue numbers: The door is magically shut. It will open only when the magical guardians with the same number as it are defeated.
X: All corridors are filled with Bellthor gas. A hero who ends his turn in them rolls a Combat die. If he rolls a Skull, he loses1 Mind Point.
A: Turning the lever fills the room with Bellthor gas. Every hero in the room loses 1 Mind Point.
B: Turning the lever opens an air duct that clears the outer north and outer west corridors of Bellthor gas.
C: Turning the lever opens an air duct that clears the inner west corridor of Bellthor gas.
D: Turning the lever opens an air duct that clears the outer south corridor of Bellthor gas.
E: There is a metallic beak-shaped full-helmet on the table. A filter clears the air as it passes through the beak. The hero who wears it on his head gains 1 Defense die and becomes immune to the effects of gas traps.
F: You find King Agrain’s magical copper key. Skeletons will ignore the hero who carries it until they are attacked.
G: These magical circles teleport anyone stepping on them between the two locations (notice that the doors are initially locked on the east room).
H: Inside the tomb the heroes will find up to 1 helmet, 1 mail, and 1 weapon that was destroyed during the previous Quest. If no equipment was lost that way, the tomb is empty.
I: You find King Agrain’s magical silver key. Zombies will ignore the hero who carries it until they are attacked.
J: You find King Agrain’s magical gold key. Mummies will ignore the hero who carries it until they are attacked.
K: The east door is fake and does not open.
L: Opening the chest fills the room with Bellthor gas. Every hero in the room loses 1 Mind Point.
M: This is Bellthor. The same rules apply as in the original Quest, with the only difference being he doesn’t knock everyone out when he dies.

The issue I am experiencing is that everytime i login my account the website wont load and will just show white screen. Deleting browsing data and caches doesn't fix it and it continues to show white screen. To resolve this i need to reinstall the browser again. 2023.05.29 16:25 reddiart12 (Synology Photos) Proper way to import photos previously exported from iPhone, into Synology Photos
Hi fellows,
Use case: I’m about to import some photos I’d airdropped into my Mac previously, into a NAS’s photo library.
iPhone live photo (withOUT any edits/markup) I observed for simple, non-edited iPhone (live) photos, those photos show up as a combination of a .HEIC + a .MOV file on my laptop. I’m aware Synology Photos supports Live Photo natively so presumably I can just drag this folder into my Synology Photos’ home directly without issue.
iPhone live photo (WITH any edits/markup) However, the issue are for photos which I’d made some edits before. When they were imported into my Mac, a single photo is represented by a total of 4 files?!
Example:
IMG_3980.AAE IMG_3980.HEIC IMG_3980.MOV IMG_E3980.jpg
So my questions are:
Qn1: If I want my edits, do I have no choice but to import the .jpg version, & with that I can no longer perform a different series of edits from the original unedited photo?
Qn2: I have this inkling that the .AAE file stores the edit in xml values, if I import the .HEIC + .AAE files into Synology Photos, will Synology photos “derive” & show the edited image by “replaying” the .AAE file’s "edit instructions" onto the .HEIC file? Which means I still have the original unedited photo in my underlying NAS, which is in the form of the .HEIC file?

2023.05.29 16:22 ukjames1990 32 [M4F] School holidays bring time!
Could you be a new spark in my changing world and new lease of life?
After 18 months my decree absolute has finally come through and I am officially divorced. So no, I’m not in a struggling relationship and looking for an out or distraction, it’s done and dusted and I want to find someone special. (I find it hard to believe that I have to clarify that part but I guess it’s a thing!)
Now that reflection is done… Hello I’m James a 32 year old from the Uk. I am a teacher (maths and sport) and rugby player very much on the road to recover my after my 3rd rugby related surgery. I have a wonderful 4 year old daughter who I see regularly as the above divorce, though long, has been quite amicable. This leaves me time to find someone special who wants to chat away, share stories and hopefully find that deeper connection and maybe that romantic vibe. Where you come from doesn’t bother me, the world is a small place so long distance isn’t an issue for me right now. I’m certainly not shallow, I tend to get attracted to how you make me feel rather than how you look, I will of course share pictures if you are willing too.
I don’t know what I’m looking for, companionship and friendship sounds amazing, attraction and flirty fun is also great so a bit of everything or whatever we fancy. I’m aware people tend to rush into the NSFW thing and as much as that may be of interest, a connection can’t be built solely on that.
I love walking and adventuring, I camp when the weather in England allows. I’m a sports fan, any and every really. Just re joined the gym as physio has allowed it again. I used to game and still have an interest but not as much as I used to for sure as real life is taking over and I’m enjoying focusing on and finding myself.
In terms of looks 6’1”, on the heavier side but actively working on that after surgery. Hair a bit on the missing side but tend to keep a beard for that balance reason 😂 but relatively rugby thick and strong.
I sincerely hope this message finds you well and that you throw me a chat or message, enjoying the weekend so have plenty time to chat away. I do like to use kik or telegram (better) to chat on if we decide we want to pursue getting to know each other.
James

2023.05.29 16:22 BlueTwinFlame God is not always on your side.
The reason I am posting this is because it’s a thought that’s been on my mind and I need other peoples opinions to back it up for a little article I’m writing.
This thought first came to mind during the Tory Lanez situation, where he tweeted “no weapon formed against me shall prosper and every tongue that rises up against me in judgement will be condemned!” while he was being convicted, and it turned out he was guilty of shooting Megan. But I don’t want to use that example because it’s controversial.
There is a group of guys I know, and they’re the species of misogynistic, hateful Christian youths (usually gym rats) who think all you have to do to get saved is ‘not be ashamed’, which to them is basically putting a cross in your bio and sharing bible verses on your story.
That’s not the problem. Performative Christianity affects them and them alone. HOWEVER, the problem is they’re actively promoting hate, particularly towards women for some reason. This includes body shaming, calling them slurs, lustfully objectifying them, catcalling, just regular bitter behavior. And it’s worse to women who have rejected them or had failed relationships with them. They preach ‘bring bullying back’.
They know this is going to bite them in the back. The women will slowly come out sharing their stories regarding their disgusting behavior. But I can tell they don’t think anything will happen to them, because all throughout I’ve been seeing them quote Romans 8:31, Isaiah 54:17 and Philippians 4:13.
I have warned one of them that all this stuff will come and bite them in the back in the future. He just replied “if anything happens, [he pointed at the crucifix hanging from his neck]”
The topic of my article is the fact that just because you supposedly believe in Jesus Christ, doesn’t mean YHWH is on your side and going to protect you from everything. If you are doing actions that are hateful and actively harming others, he has a right to take away blessings or let karma bite you. It’s not one of those sins like porn addiction that are really really hard to stop doing. Sometimes you can actually just not bully people. Usually no rehab needed.
What I need is probably some examples of this happening in the Bible. I think this happened somewhere in Judges/Kings/Samuel?
Anyway, I also just need insight about this from anyone. Articles, sermons, thre, whatever.
I’d prefer the replies are actually helpful and don’t nitpick at small pieces of what I’ve said, or do things like changing the topic to Tory Lanez or giving an essay on why you think porn isn’t actually a sin or something like that.

2023.05.29 16:21 1000yearoldstreet “Fear Thai Latte” (improved v.2)
| A few days ago I made this post about a latte that I ordered in a dream. A quick test run upon waking up proved that this recipe could have legs. A few kind redditors seemed interested in an improved version, so here it is: Improved Thai Fear Latte: * 1.5 oz. freshly pulled espresso (South American light roast blend) * 1 oz. semi-rich simple syrup infused with clove and lavender * 1/4 cup unsweetened coconut milk with 1-1.5 tsp of a basic Indian curry blend (couldn’t find a Thai blend) Pull espresso shot, add simple syrup to shot, steam coconut milk with the curry powder, pour over espresso. Garnish with lavender buds and a little ground clove. I drank the whole fucking thing. It’s like an Indian-Mexican hot chocolate. I was not expecting it to be this good. I think the type of curry blend you use will make or break it. I used Frontier Co-Op Indian Curry Seasoning, which has a simple blend that is not too savory. I would 100% make this again. Holy shit. submitted by 1000yearoldstreet to somnigastronomy [link] [comments] |

(Original Blood Family)The Bloods, also known as Original Blood Family, are an Los Angeles gang with somewhere between 15,000 to 20,000 members. The Bloods are made of smaller groups known as "sets" between which differences exist such as colors, clothing, and hoods. The bloods are affiliated with the color red and are known for being rivals with the Crips/Folks Nation gang. Allies of the Bloods are Pirus, Latin kings, Nortenos, and People Nation. The Bloods were made when a number of small gangs, some sects of Pirus, Laurdes park hustlers and other small gangs, merged together to make the Bloods gang against the crips, who they were all rivals with in the early 1970’s. (Piru Blood History) In the 1960’s Washington and Williams went after Sylvester Scott and Benson Owens. After the attack both Scott and Owens setup their own gangs which made the Piru Street Boys, this would be the first known Blood gangSets

2023.05.29 16:19 1_yungboi Help: Low framerate and GPU usage in Boneworks
| note: I play on a RTX 2060 Super paired with an i5-10600k and 16gb of dual channel ram @ 2666mhz. I'm on a Rift CV1 and have the render resolution set to the headset's low resolution of 1080 x 1200, and even if i lower the in game settings as low as possible I still get a low framerate. -my temps are fine -I've set my system power plan to high performance -I've set the application to high performance in graphics settings -using oculus as my active runtime -I've set Boneworks to high priority in task manager Yet despite all this my gpu usage is low (not seen it go above 50%) and in some areas, notably the tower, reprojection kicks in an my framerate tanks to 45fps. I don't think this is a hardware issue as I've seen people on worse systems have better performance than me, I believe it's linked to the low gpu usage however I'm not sure what the problem is or what's causing the usage to be so low. Here's a picture of task manager while in the tower level: https://preview.redd.it/6uht2vfzlt2b1.png?width=926&format=png&auto=webp&s=b3edf53f164c5037850ee59b10b53443e8758f31 I've ploughed through and already have beat the campaign, however this is really ruining the experience for me. Any help would be much appreciated :) submitted by 1_yungboi to boneworks [link] [comments] |
2023.05.29 16:19 Anonymous_Whale1 Things we’re supposed to believe
Ive been super swamped these last few weeks so my apologies if this has been said already.
I’m having a really hard time believing that a guy with 2 undergrad degrees in psychology and cloud based forensics and getting a PhD in criminology took his phone with him when he left his apartment, then turned it back on after allegedly committing a quadruple murder.
We’re just supposed to believe that he was “smart” by turning his phone off so it didn’t report to the network and then he just turns it on at 4:48 approximately 24 minutes after the murders knowing it will ping off a Moscow tower?
If I were LE, I’d be checking to see what if any connections there are to BK, any living it deceased resident at king rd, and anyone connected to anyone at king rd in Uniontown, Genesee, and Blaine ID

2023.05.29 16:17 Buurto Why does the game make link seem to have a max of 10 IQ ?
After having the first sage cutscene and after seeing the first dragon tear cutscene it should be clear to link and anyone else that the enemy is the demon king and that zelda traveled in the past.
I hate how 90% of the story is about who is the evil guy and where is zelda even when link should know this after the first 10 or even less hours of the game.
I hate how they make it such a mystery about zelda or the demon king when link should know it pretty early in the game, they should make Link tell the people about it or make it seem different.
It feels like the whole story is writing not for that type of open world game, because after hearing 4 times about the imprisoning war and that it's clear where zelda is still having link and purah figuring out what happens with zelda it just feels so stupid writing wise.
I am not done with the story but the story telling for the freedom of the game just feels bad how link and purah etc. react to most of the story stuff that is clear after doing like 1 main quest.
My headcanon now is just that link has alzheimer and just forgets about every piece of information he gets 10 minutes later.

2023.05.29 16:12 AmphibianLive8943 Keeking your kingdom small keeps the game fun
Im currently ~100 years into my campaign, Third king. My kingdom is the northern half of vlandia (rovalt, ostican, ocks hall, pravend) and a couple of battanian castles to act as a western barrier and provide extra resources to my main town rovalt (villages bound to castles will trade with the closest friendly city). I actively work to keep my borders the same and keep my expansionist vassals in check. Using MLB and some armor mods I’ve created a new culture in the game. I decided from the start what towns I wanted and not to expand and honestly it’s made the game so much more playable in the late game (along with some much needed Mods like diplomacy
Because my kingdom is small , I can focus on doing quests and making my region prosperous. Currently the most prosperous region in game, as most cities have faced war and sieges at this point. My villager parties are 100+ and prosperity in rovalt Is usually above 10,000. I have an easy 20 m in gold and I spend like a manic.
When I want war I load up 4 clan members with top tier troops and march my 850 man army into whatever fight I want, always winning (my custom troops may be a liiiiitle OP) honestly the main headache I have is keeping my bloodthirsty, expansionist vassals in check so we don’t swallow up the rest of vlandia and battania.
Wondering if anyone else plays this way, or if everyone who plays this game just wants to conquer the whole world

2023.05.29 16:11 Basicmason Was Jesus a stonemason?
What do you think of this?
Throughout the centuries, Western Christians have traditionally associated Joseph, who served as Jesus's earthly father, with the occupation of carpentry. This perception has been shaped by depictions in children's Bibles, illustrating Joseph teaching young Jesus the skills of sawing, hammering nails, and crafting wooden joints. However, it is crucial to question whether this assumption accurately reflects the type of work Jesus was engaged in and whether it was what he learned from Joseph. Over time, our understanding has been influenced by flawed cultural assumptions, which have overshadowed significant aspects of Jesus's teachings, actions, and fulfillment of his mission.
The primary misunderstanding stems from a translation issue that occurred centuries ago, particularly in relation to a verse in the Gospel of Matthew, specifically Matthew 13. Following Jesus's teaching in his hometown synagogue, the crowd refers to him as the "carpenter's son" and identifies his mother as Mary (verse 55). The Greek word translated as "carpenter" is "tekton," which more accurately conveys the meaning of a craftsman or builder. At face value, without considering the Jewish cultural context, the term "carpenter" could fit this description. Nevertheless, an examination of the landscape in northern Israel reveals that the job of a carpenter may not align with the implications of the Greek word.
Hebraic scholar James W. Fleming points out that the majority of homes in Israel were constructed using stone. Fleming explains that Jesus and Joseph would have primarily worked on projects involving stone, using techniques such as chiseling, carving, or stacking building blocks. This suggests that Jesus may not have worked with wood, at least not exclusively. While it is impossible to conclusively determine whether Jesus worked with wood or not, the scarcity of trees in the region would have made it challenging for someone seeking to earn a living as a wood carpenter.
Another factor supporting the likelihood of Jesus and Joseph working with stone rather than wood is the proximity of Nazareth to the ancient town of Zippori, also known as Sepphoris at that time. During the first century, Zippori experienced rapid development under the rule of Herod Antipas and eventually became known as "The jewel of all Galilee" according to Jewish historian Josephus. Herod's extensive beautification project in Zippori would have required the assistance of skilled craftsmen, including tektons, from the surrounding area, including Joseph. Additionally, there was a sizable rock quarry halfway between Nazareth and Zippori. While it cannot be definitively stated whether Jesus himself worked there, it is likely that he visited the ancient quarry and witnessed his stonemason father cutting stones.
If it is indeed accurate that Jesus was the son of a stonemason, it follows that he would have received training in stonemasonry, following his father's profession. Understanding this background knowledge is helpful in reevaluating the language used by Jesus and his followers when referring to stones in the Bible. For instance, after the religious leaders questioned Jesus's authority in the temple, he shared the parable of the wicked tenants. Upon its completion, he looked directly at them and said, "What then is this that is written: 'The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone?'" (Luke 20:17–18; Psalms 118:22, emphasis added).
Likewise, when defending himself before the religious leaders, Peter also quoted the same Old Testament passage, stating, "This Jesus is the stone that was rejected by you, the builders, which has become the cornerstone. And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved" (Acts 4:11–12, emphasis added).
Psalms 118:22, which portrays the stone as a symbol of the messianic lineage of David. The concept of a cornerstone, a crucial element in building with stone, would have been familiar to those who worked with stone.
Furthermore, when Peter seeks a metaphor to describe believers in the family of God, he refers to them as "living stones" being built up as a spiritual house, forming a holy priesthood that offers acceptable spiritual sacrifices through Jesus Christ (1 Peter 2:5, emphasis added). Peter's use of the imagery of building a house with stones resonates with the audience and may reflect Jesus's own familiarity with stonemasonry as a trained master stonemason.
Do you think that there is any validity in this argument?

2023.05.29 16:11 __Whiskeyjack__ Advise for Home NAS setup needed, feeling very lost :(
Hey everyone, I’m really at my wits end, I’ve tried to research as much as I could but I could really use some help at this point in the process..
Objective:
I’m basically trying to build a NAS to:
- put all my data (currently on a bunch of 2.5” externals), and have it be something me and my family can access over the internet. Primarily movies and tv shows, PLEX / jellyfin server, but also as a network drive for file access for photos and docs
- I would also like to be able to do things like run a torrent client on the NAS remotely, to download files, but also to seed, as i don’t have a desktop
- maybe have it transcode media before serving it if that’s possible? (the movies can be up to 60gig remuxes, and the devices accessing them will be basic laptops and TVs) - low priority
- I’d also probably want to run a virtual machine on it, but i haven’t done any further research on what that would entail.
Tentative build:
- Processor - Intel I5 12400
- Motherboard - ASRock Z690 Steel Legend Motherboard
- Ram - Corsair vengeance lpx OR Patriot Memory Viper Steel; both DDR4 64GB (2 x 32GB) 3200 - 3600MHz
- Cabinet - Silverstone CS380 ATX Mid Tower Case SST-CS380B - this is one of the only ones with 8 HDD bays in the front - hot swappable
- Graphics - currently nothing, just the integrated intel 730, but thinking of the GTX 1050 if you feel it’ll be required
- HDDs: 2-4 to start with, but eventually 8x 20TB WD Ultrastar HDDs
- OS - FreeNas, with a windows VM if feasible
- PSU - HELP - I’ve basically modelled this as a DIY version of the Qnap TVS h874 with a better motherboard and more ram.. the Qnap only uses a 250W power supply but I’m thinking this is nowhere near enough?
Questions / Issues:
- How important is ECC Ram? Not sure how much of it is marketing and how much is legit… I‘ve read that it isn’t supported on intel consumer Level chipsets and processors, but that it is on AMD… is it worth going back to the drawing board to see what i can build with AMD instead just for this support? It will likely be a fair bit more expensive for an equivalent config (~$100 or so) - I live in india so while i have access to parts, prices can vary wildly.
- How do i figure out whether my motherboard can support SAS? I can shortlist by 6Gb/s SATA ports, but nothing specified on SAS.. will i need a separate Pcle card or something? The cabinet supports SAS HDDs, but i can’t figure out how to check if any of the motherboards can.
- Follow up - will SAS be worth it on my setup? What kind of performance increase can i expect? The mobo has 1x 2.5G Ethernet port
- Is one 2.5G ethernet port enough? I know i can add another vie Pcle, but they’re pretty expensive, i think a 10G expansion slot costs as much as my processor :/
- For the love of god, someone help me choose a PSU, I’m lost AF .. is it enough if i just filter by number of SATA drives it can power (8) and leave it at that? What wattage will i need? I’d like to plan ahead and include power for a graphics card (GTX 1050 or similar), but other than that nothing.
- what filesystem do i use? I‘ve read that ZFS is great, but can i use ext4? The only reason I’m considering this is because of what i saw on the Qnap QTS os - the ability to add HDDs to the pool afterwards - I wont be able to afford all 8 drives at once, I’d ideally like to start with 2 and build my way up from there, but with ZFS that isn’t an option unless i create raid1 pools or something.. is ext4 and the addition of drives to the pool even an option with freeNAS?
- How real is the strain or stress involved in re-creating a pool in the event of a single drive failure? A lot of videos on the subject make it sound like the stress involved in recreating the pool can in itself cause another drive to fail … is this actually likely or more like a small possibility? Additionally, will a raid5 on a 8x array put more stress / likelihood of failure than a raid 5 on a 4x array? Basically, does increasing the size of the (single) pool from 4 to 8 make raid5 an unwise choice? I’m maybe considering (very very $$) starting out with 1 pool of 4 in raid5 and then adding another pool of 4 in raid5 in a year or so, making 2x pools of 4x drives in raid5.. $ aside, would this be better, worse, or equivalent to 8 drives in raid6?
- How many additional NVMe / SATA SSDs do i need? I’ve read people talking about not just boot drives, but also cache drives and arch(?).. can someone please recommend how much of each I’ll need, and what this arch? type is? Can i get a larger one and partition it, or do I have to use different physical drives?
- Is Unraid a better choice than freenas?
PLEASE feel free to tweak / modify my proposed build, I’m not really married to any of this and its been more than a decade since i built a PC.. cost is a factor but i also want this to be something i don’t have to touch for at least a few years, so please let me know what you think
Thanks in advance, I’m in your hands!
