2023.03.25 02:07 Saturdead The Drainpipe Siren
The summer I turned 10 was the best time of my life. For years I’d had trouble making friends with other girls, and out of nowhere I was accepted into a group of boys. We would ride our bikes everywhere, play games, and sit up all night just talking about superheroes. I loved it, and I started enjoying coming to school.
That summer was the first summer we went to Everett’s cabin. We biked up there with his dad and spent three days hiking, fishing, telling stories, building a treehouse, and chowing down on hot dogs. It was amazing, and probably the first time in my life where I truly felt like part of a group.
For the next few years, we went back up there every summer. Sometimes we’d get another member, sometimes we’d lose one. People came and went, but we biked up there every summer nonetheless.
They became my best friends. I was one of the “original members” alongside Everett and Sam, but one year we had Lewis, another year there was Owen, and so on. But me, Everett, and Sam? We were always there. The originals.
By the time we all turned 14, there was another girl joining the group; Sam’s girlfriend Josslyn. I’d had some trouble getting along with other girls, so I was a bit hesitant about having Josslyn come along. But I was hilariously wrong. Within a couple of weeks, Josslyn became my best friend. She was like the sister I never had.
The year we turned 16 was the last time we would go there as a group. By then, everyone was growing up. Some were going to college; others were getting a job. Hell, Sam and Josslyn had just broken up and could barely be in the same room. Spending the summer in Everett’s cabin became one of those things that you just stop doing. We promised we’d go back there someday and celebrate summer the right way, knowing full well that would probably never happen.
And then, nothing. And as with all names and faces, they started growing distant. We kept in touch every now and then, but Sam, Everett and Josslyn all went on with their lives. I did too.
That was until a few years ago, when we all turned 30.
By then, Sam was about to move out of state. His startup company had gained some traction, and they were moving their main office. He was hitting the big leagues.
Josslyn was planning a move to Scotland. She’d met this guy at the university that she fell head over heels in love with, and the two of them’d had a long-distance relationship for close to a decade.
Everett, well, he’d tried to play the family man. He had a four-year old son and a two-year old girl with a woman who was divorcing him. Oof.
And me? Well, I wasn’t dealing with my aging very well. I’ve had anxiety all my life and haven’t celebrated a birthday since I was 14. I can barely look myself in the mirror, horrified of the possibility of seeing a grey hair. I’m a bit of a hypochondriac, truth be told, and I imagine feeling all kinds of cramps and pains because of my age. And yes, I know 30 isn’t that old. Doesn’t matter.
But that summer, Everett sent us a message out of nowhere. His family was selling the cabin, and he figured one more trip down memory lane would do us all some good. The whole area was being sold off to a logging company at the end of summer. Personally, I just think the divorce was getting to him.
At first, I wasn’t going to accept. But after seeing both Sam and Josslyn agreeing to come, I couldn’t say no. Maybe it would distract me from turning 30.
So one sunny day in late June I drove down from Morgantown back home to Juniper (WV), not knowing what to expect. I figured I might get a nice weekend out of it.
And as I met up with Sam and Everett, it was as if nothing had changed. They hugged me. We laughed, we joked around, and we laughed some more. Everett had rented us mountain bikes. I got the blue one.
Sure, they looked a bit different. Sam had put on a few pounds and had a thick pair of glasses. He was already sweating. Everett, who used to have dreadlocks, had this short and neat office-type haircut, and his eyes looked darker. But that was all just appearance; they were the same guys. Same humor, same smiles, same favorite superheroes. Wonderful.
We stopped at the supermarket. I was comparing beef jerky prices when Sam walked up to me.
“Josslyn went on ahead,” he explained. “The roads are all dug up, so we’re taking the tunnel.”
“The Rosewater tunnel? By the railroad?” I asked.
“Yeah,” nodded Sam. “Shouldn’t take long. Josslyn is already up there.”
Made sense to me. Josslyn was the outdoorsy type. She was probably up there making a fire by rubbing sticks together or something. But just in case, I bought myself a Firestarter. You never know.
And then we were off. Riding bikes with the same people, down the same roads. Sure, it all looked different, but it really wasn’t. After all these years, I was still just me and the guys. For a moment, I felt this surge of optimism; like everything, somehow, might turn out all right.
Everett took point. We followed a trail deep into the pine forest, sweating under the summer sun. The canopy was a blessing, hiding us from the afternoon heat. It took us a bit over an hour to find the railroad tracks. We followed them north. Sam was sweating like he’d never even seen a bike before.
Then we got to the tunnel. The old Rosewater tunnel wasn’t long, but it was old. Everyone knew about it, but it was the kind of place that parents refused to let their kids go near. The place was probably covered in mold. Still, biking through it wouldn’t be a problem. You could feel the draft coming through.
The tunnel had a slight curve to it, so we couldn’t see the other side. Still, Everett took point and howled with joy as he entered. The echo bounced off the walls, reaching into the mountain. Sam followed suit, shrieking just as loud. We dove deep into the dark with the rhythmic thumping of the railroad tracks beneath us.
Our bike lights shone as bright as they could, but the tunnel swallowed them. It was getting colder and colder, almost to the point of my breath showing. Little dust particles danced in the weak light. The sound of spinning bike chains and thumping wheels echoed, and the air tasted like old moisture.
Suddenly, Everett stopped. Then Sam. And soon, I could see why.
We were in the middle of the tunnel, and there was something covering the ground.
Snow.
We were all standing there dumbfounded. Snow? In late June? That didn’t make a lick of sense.
“That’s just weird,” said Sam. “Let’s keep going.”
“Wait,” said Everett.
He stepped off his bike and walked around for a bit. I leaned against my handlebar, feeling the weight of my backpack. I hadn’t even noticed how out of breath I was. Everett leaned down, looking at the snow.
“What’s up?” Sam asked. “We going?”
“Yeah, yeah,” nodded Everett. “It’s just… I dunno.”
“Dunno what?”
“Like… where’re the tracks?”
“You’re sitting on ‘em” I added. “What’s the deal?”
“No, Josslyn’s tracks.”
Now I could definitely see my own breath. And Everett was right, the snow was undisturbed. Josslyn couldn’t have come through there, unless the snow had recently settled. But what, an inch and a half of powder snow in late June, in less than a day? Nah.
Everett got back on his bike.
“Let’s just keep going.”
We biked through the snow. About ten minutes later, we got to the edge of the tunnel.
It’d collapsed in on itself.
The ceiling had caved in and filled the entire tunnel with a steep slant of solid rock chunks. It didn’t look recent either.
We just turned around. There was no reason for us to keep pushing forward, so we decided to just go back out and follow the (if somewhat broken) main road instead. We had bikes, we could go pretty much anywhere. Still, I couldn’t help but notice how Everett seemed a bit distraught. We all were.
On our way back through the snow, I got the sense that something was off, but I couldn’t put my finger on what. But right then and there, I was just happy we were leaving.
Except we didn’t get far.
The path we came in through had also collapsed.
“Did we make a… a wrong turn?” Sam asked. “I thought this… this was just a straight line.”
“It is,” said Everett. “This, uh… this doesn’t make sense.”
“I didn’t hear anything,” I gasped. “I didn’t hear a goddamn thing.”
“This is old. There’s dust. It didn’t just collapse, this is… ,” insisted Everett.
“So we must’ve gotten turned around somewhere,” smiled Sam. “So we backtrack.”
It took us about 45 minutes to move from one end of the tunnel to the other; but both ends were definitely collapsed. How we entered in the first place was mind boggling. It didn’t make sense.
At some point, we just stopped. We stepped off our bikes and sat down. Sam used his phone as a flashlight, illuminating the dancing dust particles. The air tasted stale.
“No bars,” Sam said. “Tunnels suck.”
“It doesn’t make sense!” groaned Everett. “We got in, we can get out!”
“How?!” I asked, throwing my arms out. “I’m not seeing any exits! It… it fell!”
“That’s impossible!” spat Everett. “There would be a… a goddamn ear-bursting pressure! There’d be so much dust we… we wouldn’t be able to breathe! And there wouldn’t be goddamn snow all over the ground!”
We tried to get our phones to work. We tried moving the rocks, but the thick moisture in the air had frozen; making them all stick together like bricks and mortar. There was no way.
We wasted hours, and the temperature just kept dropping. I’d started shivering, and Sam’s breath had frozen into little icicles in his beard. Everett paced back and forth, trying to come up with a plan.
The snow was either expanding, or we kept coming back to it. Either way, it was everywhere. And the temperature kept dropping; fast.
At one point, that strange feeling in my stomach came back to me. I removed my bike light and used it as a torch. I noticed something in the snow.
I could see our tracks. Both from our bikes, and our shoes. But there was something else; a slight impression. Two thin parallel lines, running next to the wall. They twisted and turned at times, but I couldn’t make out what it was supposed to be. I called Sam and Everett over to help me, but we suddenly got distracted.
Somewhere deep in the tunnel, I heard something.
A voice.
“You should be helping me.”
It came from further in. Without a doubt in my mind, and after all these years, I could still recognize Josslyn’s voice. We tried to pinpoint where it came from, but the tunnel made it impossible.
“Joss?” Sam called out. “Joss, you there?”
Nothing. We looked at one another. It took Everett a few moments to even attempt to accept this.
“Joss!” Everett finally called out “Josslyn!”
Still, nothing.
We looked for her. I could feel myself growing more desperate as the air got colder. My teeth had started to chatter, and no amount of rubbing my arms changed a thing. My hairs were standing at attention, as if listening for warmth.
Sam and Everett kept calling out to her, but we got no response. And all over the snow I kept seeing these two parallel lines, just barely scraping the top of the snow. Either they’d been there for a while, or whatever was making them were something extraordinarily light. But there was no way of telling where it came from.
I have no idea how many hours we spent walking up and down that freezing tunnel. At some point, we all gathered in a circle and wrapped ourselves in sleeping bags. I tried to use my Firestarter, but we didn’t have much to burn. We piled up some of our extra clothes and spent the better part of an hour setting it on fire. It burned for less than ten minutes.
At some point, we just stopped trying. Our hands were raw, and I started having cold sweats. We’d turned off the lights to save on battery, but my restless eyes kept moving. I could feel myself going cross-eyed, my mind confused by the pressing dark.
There was too much ground to cover. There might be some side tunnel that we might’ve missed, but we were losing hope. I didn’t know what to make of it. Sam and Everett had gone through several cycles of arguing, making a desperate effort, being anxiously hopeful, and then back to arguing. Now they were just quiet.
I would’ve preferred an argument.
“You… should be helping me.”
We all looked up. It was distant, but not as distant as last time. I could hear Sam shuffling as he got up. He called out to Josslyn again and again, but there was no response. Sam was growing more and more desperate, and his screams got louder. At some point, he stopped calling out to her; he just screamed.
The arguing started again as Everett tried to shut him up. But I heard something. I looked up, concentrating on the sound. There was a slight reverb, like the sound bouncing off something metallic.
I put my bike light back on and looked up, letting the bright cone answer my question.
There were drainpipes running along the ceiling of the tunnel.
“Some… some kind of drainage, or a run-off,” said Sam, looking up. “That’s gotta… wait. This wasn’t at the entrance.”
“So it started further in,” I said. “Maybe there’s a maintenance area.”
At that, Everett got up.
“Yeah,” he nodded. “Yeah, that makes, uh… that makes sense.”
We followed the pipes, and I couldn’t help but notice that the parallel lines in the snow that seemed to be going the same way. They were roughly following the way the pipes were running in the ceiling. Sam and Everett didn’t seem to notice.
“There might be another way out,” said Sam. “Like a… maintenance entrance.”
“Yeah,” agreed Everett. “They can’t have people running in and out of here when the trains are coming, right?”
My stomach turned. The stress was getting to me. I wasn’t usually the quiet one of the group, but crawling around in the dark just weighed my entire mind down. It wasn’t supposed to be cold. It wasn’t supposed to be dark. We were supposed to be making hot dogs by the cabin.
There was a faint tapping sound. Something banging against the pipes, somewhere up ahead. Sam and Everett pushed forward.
And there it was. A maintenance door.
We all got excited. We ran up to it, and the moment Sam put his hands on the handle, I shouted at them to stop.
They just looked at me, barely illuminated by our combined electronics. I could see the parallel lines running in the snow leading into the maintenance door. I pointed it out to Sam and Everett, who didn’t pay it no mind. Sam thought it was water drops from condensation. Everett didn’t care.
It couldn’t be water drops. It was too cold, and too consistent. Something in me screamed at me to just… not go further. This was bad.
But the door flung open, and we stepped inside.
There was an awful smell in the air. Chemicals; mostly ammonia. It took some time getting used to, but we pushed on. There was a small corridor leading us further in, branching into maintenance tunnels that were so small that we had to move sideways to fit.
We explored, as a group. We couldn’t find an obvious way out, but we could make an educated guess. We just had to find a way that pointed us either straight forward, or straight back; following the curvature of the Rosewater tunnel.
At one point, we hit a dead end. As we turned back, I was suddenly first in line. Then we heard it again.
“You should… be helping me.”
This time it was just down the hall. It was so close it chilled me more than my freezing breath. And for a split second, I could swear I saw something move just at the edge of the light. Something that retreated into the dark with a rhythmic sound. And it was leaving behind those strange parallel lines in the frost-covered floor.
We got back to one of the maintenance hubs. The drainpipes coalesced, leading us further in. We stopped for a while, as Sam was out of batteries.
“They will come looking for us,” said Sam. “We should just go back and wait.”
“We’ll freeze,” I said. “It’s absurd, but we’ll freeze.”
“She’s right,” agreed Everett. “We… we gotta push.”
“Then I go second. I don’t have a light.”
We agreed.
And as we turned around, there was Josslyn.
We could barely make out her shape at first. She looked taller, and her hair clung to her face like she’d crawled out of a cold bath. She just stood there, barely keeping herself upright. Sam and I stood there in shock, but Everett burst into action. He sprinted forward towards her.
In a whiplash-like motion, Josslyn was pulled back into the dark. She didn’t make a sound.
I noticed two things.
One, that her legs didn’t move.
And two, that her feet barely touched the ground; leaving parallel lines in the frosted floor.
Everett rushed after her, screaming her name over and over like a desperate parrot. I was right behind him, and Sam was trying his best to keep up. We ran, seeing whiffs of her hair disappear further and further into the darkness. She was moving, fast, and we could barely keep up. Just seconds later, as we came to a four-way junction, she was gone.
Everett fell to his knees, panting. I stopped short of tripping over him.
“She… she’s here,” Everett panted. “S-something’s wrong.”
I spat and tried to stay in motion to keep my sweat from freezing. The salt stung my eyes.
“Why… why is she doing this?” he asked. “What’s going on?”
“Wait,” I said.
I turned around.
“Where’s Sam?”
We backtracked. We tried to mentally map those labyrinthian halls, but we just came up with dead end after dead end. Sam was gone. Disappeared into the dark.
And somewhere, far ahead, we could hear something again.
“Yooooouu~ should be… helping me.”
But this time, in Sam’s voice.
Sam’s broken, drawling, drawn-out half-voice. It made the drainpipes reverberate, shaking with excitement.
This time, we turned the other way. We couldn’t keep getting pulled further and further in. We made a silent agreement that whatever was in there was something we didn’t want to see. We had to keep going, and once we got out, we could help.
“We… we have to follow the pipes,” said Everett. “They have to lead outside at some point!”
“Or they’ll just… just lead us further in!”
“We can’t keep running in circles! We pick a path, and we stick to it!”
He grabbed my shoulders. Even with barely functioning light, I could see the panicked size of his pupils. I nodded. Whatever it took for us to stick together.
We must’ve walked for hours. And finally, it opened up into another junction. This one with only two adjoining corridors. But by now, we’d moved around so much there was no way to tell what was north, south, or in-between. We could only guess.
“You pick,” said Everett.
And I did.
We followed one of the halls, and I could hear my footsteps growing louder. The echo was increasing. Moments later, the halls opened into a kind of hub area where all the drainpipes coalesced. It was much large than expected, with solid concrete walls and floors. Dozens of pipes lead us here.
Everett was about to rush forward when I put a hand on his shoulder. I looked around for a bit, but he brushed me off and kept going.
“Wait!” I called out, pointing.
There was something up ahead.
It was impossible not to recognize Sam. His body hanging limp, inches off the ground like a stringed-up puppet.
His skin white as snow, with icicles hanging from his beard and hair. He didn’t move.
“You shooooould… be helping me,” his body groaned, without ever moving his mouth.
The shadows behind him moved.
The very dark of the room; it moved.
And at that moment, I realized there was something oil-slick and dark slithering along the pipes; holding Sam up like a ventriloquist dummy.
“Sssssshould. Sssssshould be.”
I could see Josslyn’s bike, snapped in half and thrown into a corner. Strange flowers grew along the edge of the wall; like little sunflowers, frozen and blue.
I could see Josslyn’s backpack torn open and thrown across the floor. The hot dogs, trampled and abandoned. And there at the very edge of my light, I could see Josslyn’s frozen hair splayed across the concrete in a pool of frozen blood.
Unnatural hands crawled across the drainpipes, causing a rhythmic thumping. And just as the horror of this vision sunk into me, my mind exploded into panic. It was like watching through my eyes like a passenger, surrendering completely to whatever power would get me out of there. My mind lit up the world with fear, as a real and tangible threat started coming our way; and it was dragging Sam along.
I bolted back out the door. Something was right behind me, but I didn’t know if it was Everett or… that Sam-thing. I didn’t care. I didn’t care the slightest.
I turned a quick corner. Everett followed. The Sam-thing couldn’t keep up, and whatever held him just tossed him aside. I could hear his body shattering like a gypsum statue; his body frozen solid.
Another corner. A quick turn.
Too quick.
I tripped on my own feet. I fell, and Everett fell right after me. We ended up on our sides, lying face-to-face. Something in my elbow broke, and I couldn’t get up.
Then, Everett stopped. I did too. I held my breath, waiting for whatever pain there was to come. Everett looked at me, slack jawed.
His breathing stopped. A long mosquito-like appendage had extended down from the drainpipes, piercing the back of his skull, like popping a water balloon. It was sucking out his warmth, making his skin lose its color. Eyes sinking into his skull, freezing. Nails and tongue turning black. Skin cracking like porcelain. Membranes shriveling into nothing but dry meat.
“Yooooooou~ “ it started. “… yoooOoou… heEeeeeEelping me. Help. Helping meeeee.”
I couldn’t look away.
But as my light dwindled, all that was left was the cold of his touch, and his words; frozen in time.
“Shhhh… shhhhoooOo… should be. Be. Be.”
As my light went out, all that was left was one desperate plea. And for a moment, it sounded just like him.
“Helping me. Helping. Helping me. Helping… me.”
I must’ve stayed there for hours, growing colder by the minute. I just lay there, listening to him slowly learning how to talk with Everett’s body. My tears had frozen my eyelids shut, and my shivers had subsided to a deep throbbing pain.
At some point, Everett was lifted off the floor. And as a cold spike poked against my skin, I realized I could barely feel it. I was too cold.
The creature must’ve thought the same thing, as it left me there. I had no warmth left for it to feast on.
I was no longer interesting prey. I’d accidentally strained my elbow as I fell, and I could barely feel my legs. Further and further away, I could hear the rhythmic thumping as the creature moved along the drainpipes. The pleas of what remained of Everett grew more confident, and distant.
At some point, it wasn’t interested anymore. I fumbled down corridor after corridor, trying to keep my eyes open.
And out of nowhere, the tunnels just seemed to... open up.
On the other side of the Rosewater Tunnel, the light blinded me.
The sun of late June promised me that I was finally safe.
Now, this was all about… five years ago. Law enforcement insist that we were “urban explorers” who messed up. There had been reports of rockslides near the Rosewater Tunnels, and they figured that Sam, Everett and Josslyn got caught in it somewhere deep in the abandoned side tunnels. They didn’t take any other report or indication of wrongdoing seriously. That I had frost burns in late June didn’t seem to bother them.
I’ve been holding off on writing this story as it was technically open for investigation until last September. They finally closed it, officially classifying it as a kind of spelunking expedition gone wrong. They swear they’ve investigated the tunnel, but I have yet to see a single squad car anywhere near it.
I don’t think this is over.
I’ve since left it all behind. The town, the people, the past.
And whatever future I have left, I will cherish.

2023.03.25 02:05 X_Act Just now: Posie Parker/Kellie-Jay Keen choked by someone on livestream as violent transactivist and AntiFa mob descended onto Let Women Speak event
Here's the link to that footage that just happened about an hour ago:
https://www.youtube.com/live/eDuy2Kx2HlI?feature=share ^ The last 10 mins are when things really amp up, but the build-up is worth watching, too. Some backstory to how/why this happened:
Kellie-Jay Keen holds non-partisan events where she platforms individual people speaking about the fallout of self ID policies, how it conflicts with women's rights, how the medicalization of children is abuse, etc in response to the media blackout on these issues and women often being threatened, cancelled and attacked for voicing their concerns. She is often accused of being populist because she doesn't follow any particular orthodoxy and centers a specific issue and appeals to a wide variety of people vs some socialist left-wing radical feminists that would prefer to only organize with people who agree on 500 issues, rather than functionally having a mass movement.
This past year, she started a global tour of this. Almost all the events - which are just grassroots public events that anyone can attend - have transactivists and AntiFa basically using noise makers, sirens, screaming, banging pots and pans to drown out the speaking (but you can watch and hear pretty clearly through the livestreams, which are all on YouTube), and worse... physically assaulting usually middle-aged and elderly women. If the people who come for the purpose of disrupting the events actually took a second to logically deduce the history of these tactics, they'd know that we usually bring theatrics and noise makers to events we want media attention for (essentially bringing more attention to the issue they're attempting to silence).
Police departments are often shown seeming to reject coming out to protect the right of the event to be held (which looks to be happening at this New Zealand event...no police barrier), even with permits...or keeping police support as limited as possible so the events are barely functional or allowing physical violence often. They often seem to stand down until after the assaults happen.
But anyway, Kellie went viral in the Australian media for her event about a week ago in Melbourne, which had multiple groups come to protest, and a group of Nazis came to antagonize AntiFa and started doing their own event over a megaphone before being ushered around by police to do a march down the street. Don't know how they got what looked to be the king's treatment, meanwhile the Let Women Speak event appeared to be the only group that actually got a permit to hold an event and was descended on multiple times, leaving a woman knocked unconscious and transactivists punching horses (mounted cops) to break the police line to get into the Let Women Speak event....for saying controversial things like "keep men convicted with killing and raping women out of women's prisons." Actual Nazis...not descended on.
The Australian media and multiple politicians coordinated to create a narrative that Kellie-Jay Keen is allied with Nazis...or worse, literally a Nazi, that the event itself was a Nazi event, and they hang up the trans flag at parliament the next day to stand against Nazis. Nevermind the fact that the Let Women Speak event started with respecting Aboriginal land, that a variety of races were in attendance, that a couple of speakers were Indigenous and Aboriginal, that multiple people spoke about WoC. A guy who records political events does a good breakdown with some footage here of what he saw:
https://youtu.be/X-YJIepbGek It's an ongoing thing to call everyone Nazis and fash, and it's been an ongoing thing to attempt to connect TERFs with Nazis specifically, but with a wide scale media and politician pushed narrative, it has really amped up and instigated the hate and a mob of people probably believing these women would be better off dead than speaking. They probably literally believe she's a Nazi.
Also, here's a pretty surprisingly proper documentary she put out of her USA tour of events she did the end of last year (free to watch):
https://youtu.be/QLkUQH81Tts Here's a mini doc about the NYC event that went viral that got really out of control that wasn't included in the main documentary:

2023.03.25 01:19 WaltzQueen Louise Cosplay
| Louise Cosplay Louise was really difficult for such an easy going narcissist. Before we begin, I offer a complaint and a warning. I thought this was easy. I thought I was getting the best end of this deal and it would be an easy side project while I was working on Kate. I was wrong and it was all of my own doing. Never underestimate your projects, reader. Anything with ruffles or pleats requires your utmost attention. Now, let's get into it. There were two versions of Louise. The first was all synthetic materials. The fabric chosen was more goldenrod than the anime but a fair match for the manga's colored pages that I had. It also had a subtle vertical line on it that really drew me in, as it simulated the pinstripes on the manga dress. The under-dress was to be made of chiffon, for a silky twirl in the correct butter yellow. I hate chiffon and the cutting of it so much, Doubly so when it requires pleating and ruffling on the same garment. I could make a lovely under-dress when I put my mind to it, but fuck it if that was also the case when I had to pleat the bust area. It kept moving and when sewn down to hold said pleats it lost the beautiful flow that was its sole redeeming feature. The psuedo-pinstriped fabric also had two glaring flaws;availability and wrinkles. It wrinkled like linen as soon as you put it into a bag or a box or wore it once. Every stitch was a stressful affair additionally, as i couldn't find any more it once i bought what I had. It had been a season fabric and was gone with the wind before i could blink. Lots of mistakes were made in the cutting, as I didn't have a very good idea of how to make what I had work for me while keeping the vertical stripes vertical. Her waist belt was stretchy yellow over a cotton base and covered with fake flowers. No cotton was used for her choker, just stretchy fabric and flowers. "Yellow" as I called her with equal affection and frustration, was becoming a menace of a costume. Second attempt was made a couple months later. This time the pinstriped look was abandoned in favor of a more accurate color and I wanted to keep the only decent work int he whole first attempt: the chiffon underskirt. That meant for a color match, the same chiffon would have to be included. In order to get pleats I layered chiffon on top of a closely matching cotton and treated them as one fabric. The results aren't perfect but far better than straight chiffon. The belt was traded out for more the stretchy yellow fabric, to keep the cinching localized to the front and not all the way around. More flowers were added for a denser belt coverage. Did you know curly black wigs are hard to find outside of costume shops when you're not ordering online? It's True! I ended up pulling this little lady out of storage. She's not quite long enough but she's what I have and very close. Same story for the shows. It's nice to have preexisting items. They solve problems. The wig and shoes probably saved me fifty bucks together. Then came the petticoat. Despite being a lolita for a while, now, I don't have any petticoats of the right size or shape for her, so I had to go buy petticoat netting and sew a cone of it directly to her underskirt. A disastrous little party girl making things harder than they needed to be, each step of the way. MONEY Take 1 - at least 7 fake flower bouquets - 8.50
- elastic yellow - 0 (leftover from other cosplay)
- 2yd synthetic goldenrod fabric -17.99
- 6yd buttercream chiffon - 26.97
- 2yd white lace trim - 0 (had already)
- black mask, gloves,stockings - 0 (reused from Kate)
Take 2 - 1yd butter yellow undercotton - 8.99
- 2.5yd golden dress fabric -32.47
- 2.5yd petticoat fabric - 4.98
All together that's $99.90 USD plus fifty if you don't have the wig and shoes already. This is a conservative estimate for this, as various receipts have gotten lost, I've had to buy thread when I ran out and various bits and bobs were surely included, discarded then forgotten. The mask system I used for Kate doesn't work as well with no curtain of hair to hide the loose ends in and the choker leaves you wanting a more defined chin. Meaning i might have to grab another pair of stockings and do this "pantyhose robber mask style". I also don't have quite the defined waist like Louise does, So, a tuck and stitch of fabric in key places might be in order. Or perhaps a bit of corsetry can come to the rescue? 📷📷 This is one of those projects that bloomed like an algae growth, due to corner cutting and inexperience double teaming me. What I learned: Chiffon is still difficult! Don't pleat things that aren't stiff. Check that things won't wrinkle before you invest too heavily. Sometimes accuracy is not achievable. Know when to give up and start over from scratch. Save yourself the tears. can be seen with more images on my blog https://www.pillowfort.social/posts/3253446 submitted by WaltzQueen to ShadowsHouse [link] [comments] |
2023.03.25 01:04 Secret-Tomatillo5044 Why I can't swallow anything blue
I was raised by a single mother whose behavior grew odder over the years. I never doubted that she loved me, but I could tell she was changing. A couple of months after my 13th birthday she began appearing more sluggish. Falling asleep on the couch often, making confusing statements, and being generally groggy. Simultaneously she became more forgetful, asking about friends I hadn't talked to in years and being unable to remember my interests. My mom was fairly young so I didn't understand why she was losing her memory so fast. Whenever I questioned it she would get defensive, saying that I was the one who was out of sorts.
At one point she even berated me after I told her that I was getting worried. Naturally, our relationship soured as her negative behaviors outweighed her positive ones. It hurt to watch, especially because I could sense how hard my growing distance was impacting her. I even blamed myself for her state to an extent, which I realize now I should have never done. One thing remained good though, she was great at making butterfly pea tea. She would prepare it for me every morning and afternoon once I was home from school. It was a sapphire blue color that turned into a light purple when something acidic was added. It was simple but it always hit the spot. It helped that blue was my favorite color, so it was aesthetically comforting as well. Outside of the previously mentioned struggles with her, I lived a happy life. I got good greats and had reliable friends. It was mostly smooth sailing until the incident that changed my life.
I was fast asleep when I felt my bed-sheet get swiftly torn off me. Naturally, I realized it was my mom since no one else lived with us.
“Mom, what are you doing?” I asked in response. She gave no reaction apart from a strange high-pitched gasp. Not knowing what to say I sleepily rolled towards the electric clock. The numbers appeared as a reddish blur until I opened my crust-coated lids. Letting out a small irritated breath once the mucus cracked. I wiped the substance off and refocused on the time, finding that it was only 2:00 AM. I pushed myself up and reached for the lamp when my wrist was gripped tightly. I groaned with annoyance, rolling my eyes.
“Okay, you're starting to freak me out, seriously what’s going on?!” I spoke with as much defiance as I could muster at that hour. My mom remained silent, stepping forward with a notable thud. Her grip grew stronger, which made me start to panic. She'd had moments where she seemed out of it before, but it never got physical. She gave a wet cough before finally speaking.
“You forgot to wash your face, you always remember to do that, what went wrong?” she questioned sternly. I scrunched up my face, she’d gotten up at four in the morning just to berate him about skincare?
“I was tired, I just brushed my teeth to be done with the day.” I felt my justification was sound but my mom practically barked her response.
“Dammit! I told you it needs to be applied once a day, now you'll have to use it two times to make up for this!” My heart skipped a beat, surprised at her volume and harshness. It made me wonder if she was upset about something else but was letting it out on me. She was getting particularly stressed from work around that time. My mom sighed and relinquished her grip. I rubbed my wrist, hoping she'd get through her outburst soon.
“Please get up,” she said softer than previously, taking a couple steps back. I obliged, getting out of bed. When my feet touched the ground, confusion wafted over me. my socks quickly dampened as I realized that liquid was seeping through the carpet.
“Hey did you spill something earlier?” I asked, stretching my arms.
“No, I didn't.” she started plainly.
“Oh, well I think I might have stepped in some type of liquid,” I motioned to the lamp, but she quickly pulled me into her arms by my shirt.
“Let’s not worry about that Blue Bird, same goes for the lamp, you don't need light right now, you'll have it soon,” she assured me with a hint of excitement, I squirmed out of her hug, accepting the odd rules she set in place, I didn't want to argue with her.
“Just follow me,” she patted me on the shoulder and held my hand as we walked out to the backyard. It was almost impossible to see anything in our home with the moon being the only source of light, I didn't have a clue about how she navigated the space without bumping into anything. Still, I remembered how our home was set up and could tell that we’d already passed the bathroom. My nerves heightened with each step, I had so many questions. Why were we going into the backyard when my face wash was inside? What did I step in? What was wrong with wanting the lamp on? Those questions rang strongly in my mind. Nothing felt right, things had felt off before but never quite wrong. The anxiety of the situation gave me an uncomfortable rush of energy, I couldn't sleep now if I wanted to. When the sliding door opened the humid air hit my body with an unrepresented strength, something my mother didn't pay any mind to. I continued to follow her, even though I was scared.
“Go ahead and sit on that chair.” she motioned to a green plastic kiddie chair that fit me despite its childish design. I went along with her instructions, seating myself. My mom appeared in front of me and I realized she was wearing something on her face. It had the shape and construction of a surgical mask but it was woven with dying flower stems and grass. Before I could say anything she picked up a mug off the ground to my right. She smelled it through the mask, lovingly holding it to my face. I observed the steam and realized the vapor had a bluish tint.
“Go ahead, drink it.” she smiled with especially groggy eyes. I would have described them as bloodshot if the veins running up her sclera weren't sapphire. I leaned away from her and the beverage. Hiding it as another stretch, pulling my arms above my head while yawning.
“Well isn't that wonderful! Keep your arms there, I’ll feed it to you, it'll be like when you were an adorable baby, drinking out of a bottle in my stroller!” she said gleefully with an uncharacteristic giggle. I was now thoroughly unnerved, putting my arms down and pushing away the drink.
“God, what’s going on with you! And why are you wearing that mask!” I yelled out getting up from the chair. My mom groaned at my attitude, putting the cup up to my face again as I attempted to walk off.
“Nothing is going on with me, don't worry! I just thought this mask looked nice. I made this nice cup of tea and it would warm my heart if my baby boy drank it! You're growing into such a handsome man and this will help your complexion!” her enthusiasm grew as she pushed the hot cup against my lips. I whined from the sizzling heat, pulling back.
“Why are you so insistent on this?!” I shouted with a growing sense of anger. I despised the way she was speaking to me. Whenever she used baby talk around me it was a set up for something manipulative. An example being when she used it to guilt me into sleeping in the same bed with her. Saying I owed her since I was her baby. Sure she apologized, but it wasn't the last time she would do something like that. I couldn't even buy her excuse that it would help with acne. I’d had the tea many times before with her and we both knew it was unhelpful in that regard.
“Because it needs to be done for your sake!” Her shoulder cracked loudly as she spoke in a deeper, raspier voice I didn't recognize. I took a couple of steps back, reaching into the pocket of my sweat pants before remembering my phone wasn't on me. I swore under my breath as I looked at my mother with concern. I took my hand out and she pounced on me, spilling a majority of the hot liquid onto my left arm. I screamed at the sensation of the steaming beverage hitting my flesh. She held me down tightly with both arms. Her eyes glistened with a holographic finish that lit up amid the night. I had never seen her like this. At this point I stopped caring about what made her act this way. Regardless of what was causing her behavior, it wouldn't justify her current actions. I squirmed beneath her, screaming at her to let go. I still couldn't bring myself to fight back, so I resorted to begging.
“Mom please stop! I’m sorry for every inconvenience I’ve caused! We can go get you help and make up, just please get off of me!” I pleaded whilst trying to push her away.
“You're the one who needs help here! You’ve been going through life as a husk for years now! It hurts my heart to watch you deteriorate like this and I can't let it go on!” she grabbed onto the sides of my head and slammed it against the ground. I cried out in pain. The pressure pounding in my skull began in the center and spread down to my teeth. The agony pulsated through me stronger than anything I’d felt before. My mom removed a hand and pulled out a sippy cup from the pocket in her pajama shorts. It too was filled with butterfly pea tea. Taking this as an opportunity, I pushed past the damage and bit her arm. I felt awful attacking her, but my fear surpassed my guilt. As uncomfortable as it was I sank my teeth in as far as I could. She let out a throaty gurgle in response to the attack. I attempted to crawl out from under her, using my legs to pull myself up across the grass. I moved frantically, praying I could keep up the momentum. She clutched my thin hips with her legs to keep me down. I continuously smacked the container away with my free arm while I squirmed, my back smashing against the ground in my attempts. My mom covered the cap of the cup and rolled her eyes, pushing her entire body onto mine. Covering my face as I screamed for help.
“STAY STILL!” she screeched as a viscous substance seeped through her mask. Directly pouring down my forehead, making me tremble from its cold. Before I could plan another move she shoved me to the side. My face, experiencing a burn from the grit and speed. She ran to me, kneeled down, and forced her fist into my mouth. I coughed and cried while she pulled on my tongue. I wiggled it but her grasp only hardened with each movement. Her sweaty skin overloaded my sense of taste. I kicked around but nothing deterred her, even when she was hit. I couldn't focus on anything but how much I hurt, none of what was happening made sense.
She frantically opened the sippy cup, pried my mouth open, and made me guzzle down the drink. It was boiling and I screamed in ways I didn't know I was capable of. My entire body bent in all directions as I looked into the eyes of the thing before me. The initial blue glow transitioned further into a shining violet every time a new drop was swallowed. I felt powerless in the arms of my mother, I couldn't understand why she was torturing me like this. What did I do? Was she always like this and I undermined the signs so I’d live with a greater sense of safety? I continued to sob once I’d finished the tea. The burning made it sting every time I breathed.
My mom stared at me and for a brief moment, I saw a glimpse of the parent I was used to. Underneath the murky cool layers, I saw a speck of guilt. A single leaf in an empty pond, rippling through the surrounding water no matter how small. My mother sighed with a hint of sorrow, closing her eyes. Once she did, my energy died out, my cries grew softer, my body grew limp, and the world blurred. I couldn't even conceive a cohesive thought by the time my body slumped to the ground. All I was left with was confusion and a trace of dread.
“I’m sorry for earlier” rang through my ears once I regained my sense of touch. I grabbed the ground tightly, despite the presence of grass I knew I wasn't in our backyard. This grass was far too damp to be the dry patch I last resided in. I slowly opened my eyes, fearing where I’d find myself. I expected to be shrouded in darkness, laying in a stuffy deep hole in the ground, but I was met with the contrary. A perfect blue sky, a bustling variety of greenery, and a fresh breeze. I took a sigh of relief, still confused at where I was but happy it didn't appear threatening. I glanced ahead, finding a cluster of my favorite flowers at my feet. The smell of Jasmine and Orchids was heavenly, sweeter than fresh vanilla cake. Though the pleasant scent re-instilled unease in me. All of this was far too good to be true, and I still had no idea where I was. Did my mother take me here? If so, why? Was she somewhere here or had she abandoned him? I sat up delving headfirst into the flowers, groaning with frustration. The petals were soft, and damp like the grass, the water on them cool against my face. In any other situation, this would be a dream, but it only made him more nervous. Something this perfect had to be a setup.
“Blue Bird!” my mother happily exclaimed, I lifted my head, finding her standing over me. She was now wearing a polka-dotted dark blue dress instead of her nightwear. I shuffled myself back from her, her pupils had vanished and her mask was wilting.
“Mom, you're scaring me, I don't get what's going on. What are we doing here?” I asked shakily, she sighed and knelt to make direct eye contact with me.
“We're in a special place, a lush land that‘s available to very few. You don't have to worry, I just brought you here to rid you of your emotional pain.” her answer only confused me further.
“Emotional pain? Mom, I'm fine, the only thing causing me emotional distress is what’s happening right now. This place is nice but you're freaking me out.” I attempted to get up but something grabbed my legs. I shrieked as two bright green vines wrapped around my limbs.
“MOM WHAT THE HELL IS THIS! GET THESE THINGS AWA-” I was cut off by a much thicker vine logging itself into my throat. My eyes once again welled up with tears while multiple tendrils clenched onto me. Every time I moved another one would grab hold and the present ones would tighten. Nevertheless I continued screaming.
“I'm sorry my child, there’s something I've avoided telling you. I feed off the life force of living things. Cats, pigeons, people, as long as they’re not close to their death bed I can consume them.” I didn't fully understand what she was saying, but it only made my fear increase.
“Every time I take something from someone, I take them here. I've avoided taking things from you since you're the most precious thing to me. But my sweet baby boy, I've gotten so, so hungry.” Her pitch dropped while developing a defined rasp. I winced further from the nickname.
“I've tried to live off others, but I couldn't resist you anymore when you're so readily available. You’re so full of life, it's been hard not to contain my urges.” she stroked my cheek, frowning at my devastation.
“If I don’t get the nutrients I need, I'll turn into an awful thing. A monster incapable of complex thought that does nothing but destroys.” There was now a vine holding down every joint in my skeletal system, down to my fingers. Multiple small ones had been twisting themselves around my stomach, now making me struggle to breathe.
“Blue Bird, I have given my life to raising you, so please understand you have to give something back to me.” she explained solemnly.
The woven mask snapped off, quickly unraveling the horrifying contents beneath it. My pupils shrunk to pin drops, my screams of agony lessening from shock. My mother’s entire jaw had been dislocated, hanging onto her face by a couple of fleshy threads. The inside of her mouth was a bright blue with scaly gums. Her murky entirely cerulean eyes watered as she began panting. She extended her tongue to an inhuman length, thick saliva rapidly dripping down it. I wanted to believe that she wasn't going to hurt me, through all this she was still my mother. Yet I couldn't convince myself of that. Not when I felt multiple vines move through my body, entering through my mouth, eyes, and nose.
I couldn't bear to look at the thing I once called mom any longer. My ears buzzed while my eardrums were compressed by an increasing number of tubes. Their weight was breaking down the layers of skin and muscle preventing entry into my skull. Every orifice I had was on fire from pressure, yet I could tell this was only the lead-up to a crescendo of pain. A sharp fang poked through the tip of her and stabbed itself into my forehead. It punctured my skin, dragging in a curve. I twitched from the spike circling around my skull, extending my gash. Blood dripped on every side of my head, stinging harsher once the wind's currents grew.
By this point, I’d rather be in a wood chipper than deal with the cascade of agony invading every part of me. The blue-eyed thing licked up the gore flowing down and I wondered how I’d managed to go this entire time without throwing up. Her tongue was akin to sandpaper slathered in chili oil. In a last-ditch attempt to gain some power over the situation, I bit down into the vine as hard as I could. Which only worsened things when a miniature yet equally as strong vine sprung from the one I bit and wrangled my teeth. Forcibly spreading my jaw open further, making room for more to be stuffed in. A couple of tiny ones even slid between my front teeth. Thankfully, no more came after since the goal of the plant had been reached. The dam between the organic tendrils and my brain broke open, allowing each one to set roots in the vital organ. Each crevice of my intellect was invaded by a slithering, rough, nature. The impact was too strong and my senses shut down once more. My struggling limbs stopped what little movement they were capable of. My breathing slowed, my screams fell silent, and my eyes closed with tears still laying behind them. I didn't even realize I was shutting down, it just happened.
I was unconscious for an amount of time I can’t measure but knew was long. When I awoke my body felt infinitely more hollow. A loud ringing permeated my ears as I slowly took breaths. My jaw ached, my throat was painfully dry, and I could feel how cracked my lips were. My body fought with itself to not pass out, desperately trying to hold together.
“It’ll be all better soon,” My mother comforted while grabbing a sharpened knife. I was laying on her bed, but there were towels in place of sheets. Once she pulled my shirt over my head, I started to panic again.
“No, stop,” I mumbled, barely recognizing my weakened muffled voice. She made a series of meticulous cuts on my torso. Once the wound was opened she would squeeze as much blood as possible out of it and bag it away. I looked down, further horrified by the fact my blood was blue.
“I know it hurts, but it’ll be worth it,” She calmly told me as I bled out. The process went on for hours, resulting in me being unable to sleep for days after. I didn't feel safe in my house anymore, I locked myself in my room more than ever. Joining the longest after-school programs and visiting my friend’s house whenever I got the chance. Something my closest friend noticed most, he asked me what was wrong, but I told him it was nothing. I didn't expect him to believe anything about what happened, and the event was too awful for me to bring up. Meanwhile, my mother kept telling me I had a bad dream and that I was just moody. I showed her the scars as evidence but she accused me of making them myself to make her look bad. The next few years were tumultuous and before I knew it the initial incident became one of many. Every year she’d do it more often than the last, and each time it would take longer for me to recover.
It got to the point where the mere sight of gardens would scare me. The scents of my once favorite flowers grew sour, I didn't want to touch butterfly pea tea, and eventually, I couldn't even handle consuming things that are blue. It took me a long time to write this, as I’ve cried at multiple points by recounting what happened. There is a long road to recovery for me, which is even harder since everyone I’ve opened up to has called me crazy, but I'm done letting these memories fester and consume my life. I'm more than the worst things that happened to me.

“Come on sis let’s go see the river!” I looked over at Niai. She was running behind me. Today we’re going to go into the forest to go play some games like hide and find.
“WIAT UP ULION YOUR TO FAST!” My sister could not keep up with me so I waited for her to catch up.
“Come on Niai” we both ran into the forest. I was first for finding so I waited until my sister was done hiding. I looked in the bushes and underneath the rocks. I sniffed the air and soon caught the scent.
“I’m going to find you Niai” I then looked up the tree and climbed. I then jumped to the next tree where I saw her.
“FOUND YOU!” I pointed at Niai as she saw me.
“WHAT NO FAIR YOU WENT TO HARD ON THIS GAME” she complained. I swear she is such a sore loser.
“Alright it’s your turn to hide Ulion” I then ran through the plants as she counted I soon found this wonderful wooded area where I could hide underneath a big rock.
“ALRIGHT BETTER BE HIDING BROTHER I COMING TO FIND YOU!” I could hear he running up a tree. I then heard her land in a bush, the leaves ruffled as I heard her sprint on the grass. She was getting near me.
“THERE YOU ARE!” Her head then appeared in front of me as I got out of the rock.
“Alright what should we do now?” She was about to say something when we both noticed smoke in the distance.
“Do you think someone is in danger” I looked over at Niai and we both thought for a moment.
“Should we go see?” Niai pointed at the smoke in the sky. I then nodded and sprinted in the direction of the smoke. When we arrived there was a ship crashed into the ground with three bronze obelisks and one crimson shiny one. The crimson one went up to us and it looked at us with its one orange eye.
“Identify” we stared at it for a bit wondering what it was.
“I’m Niai and this is my brother Ulion” she pointed her and then me with the Crimson obelisk looking at us.
“I am Dalek Skarr, I was sent here by the Dalek council to talk to the Arxur leader” an alien is here for the Prophet?
“You are to take us to your leader we are here for diplomatic reasons!” Me and Niai shook a bit.
“Sure we know where our local Betterment office is but we probably can’t go into the Prophets palace” the crimson Dalek then turned to the three bronze ones.
“You are to come with us, destroy the ship!” The three bronze Daleks then turned and shot these bright blue beams at their ship and it just exploded. We then walked out of the forest and headed to the city with the Daleks.

2023.03.25 00:35 Same_Book_9192 [M4F] DC universe
Heya! So, I’m looking for an RP set in the DC universe. More specifically the comic universe, though we can definitely go off canon and make things up as we go. I have a few different ideas and they do all involve Jason Todd. I’m looking for a partner who’s semi lit and is okay with smut, these ideas will all involve smut, but that’s not the main focus.
1.) Jason and Barbara: Now this would be an RP set around these two characters, but we could go about a few different ways. We could set the RP after UtRH. I’m thinking this could be played off as a love triangle between Babs, Jason, and Dick. With Babs going behind Dick’s back to see Jason. I would take over for Dick with this idea. Or alternatively it could just be a love story between Jason and Babs. Babs wouldn’t be paralyzed for this idea.
2.) Jason and Raven: I’m thinking we could start the RP off with them both in the Titans and becoming friends. Raven would develop a crush on Jason, but before being able to confess her feelings he would end up dying. They would meet up years later and things would go from there.
3.) Jason and Rose Wilson: I’m thinking after Jason’s death he trains with Slade and his daughter. Their relationship would develop slowly and she would end up coming to Gotham with him. We’d have to work out some more plot points, but this would be the general idea.
4.) Jason and Harley Quinn: This one is definitely one of my favorites just because I think Jay and Harles are an interesting pairing. We could go a couple different routes for this one, though the main one I’m thinking is something based around the suicide squad. Or alternatively something set in Arkham Asylum. We can work out more details for this when I receive a message from you.
That’s all I have for now, but if you have any other ideas or OCs you want to run by me, send me a message and let me know. Also include your favorite band when you send me a message so that I know you read everything. Thanks!

2023.03.25 00:24 StepwiseUndrape574 Here Are Rockstar's Alleged Remaining Grand Theft Auto 6 Leaked Game Maps
GTA 6 rumors seem to be popping up and disappearing just as quickly, like the recent news about Rockstar hiring game testers for GTA 6 or any other game the company is working on. Since 2018, it seems that the new map, or at least part of it, may have been leaked online, giving us a glimpse into GTA 6 and what it will look like.
Over the last couple of years, four images have been leaked, showing what appears to be a map with a larger landmass with smaller surrounding islands. Reports are that the first image showed an incomplete overview of the map, with the larger island having some things drawn in while other islands were entirely drawn in. The newest leak fills out the missing portion of the larger island, but there is not much to see here spare for an airport, and a major roadway, it seems. You can see the oldest and more recent image below.
earliest gta 6 map possibly leaked online The earliest leaked map image
gta 6 map The most recent map
Though these leaks seem to track with other rumors we have heard, they most certainly need to be taken with a grain of salt. They have been released over the last year by anonymous sources on 4Chan and some of the content there can be considered dubious at best. On the other hand, the city on the main island looks vaguely like Vice City, which we have heard is the main area for GTA 6.
Whatever the case may be, Rockstar has been incredibly silent, and this will not likely change. Hopefully, we will get some signal or head nod, at least, saying that GTA 6 is on the horizon rather than the stoic silence we have gotten so far, though. Either way, stay tuned to HotHardware as we provide updates on the mounting news surrounding GTA 6.

Kept you waiting huh?
Yeah so... whew, things have been stressed over here for me. University eats up a lot of your time, who knew?
I hope I never have to keep you guys waiting this long ever again, please accept this twice-as-long chapter as reconciliation.
First Prev Memory Transcription Subject: K-31 Endeavor, Off-Duty Gaian Security Guard, November 10th, 2142 Royo was probably the most excited when the news came out. As part of a celebration of the alliance between the Venlil Republic and the Gaian Concord, restrictions on what we could do were reeled way back. We couldn't show our faces or take off our suits, of course, but for the first time, we could go around town and interact with the locals more without having to fill out a bunch of paperwork or be put into an assignment specifically allowing it.
Meaning, of course, that me and Royo could take a trip around town. On top of that, "gaian" culture, that is, human media that had been re-done and censored to avoid anything that could trace us back to humanity and our predatory nature, was being shown in a much greater capacity. Music, though lacking lyrics, was quickly becoming popular, and for the first time, actual gaians were appearing on television series, including
The Exterminators.
That show always rubbed me the wrong way, but it seemed popular with the locals. Royo in particular said he had begun watching it because of the relatively recent gaian inclusion in the show; gaian characters that were previously CG were now portrayed by genuine gaians, and after our encounter during the raid, he had taken a liking to the show. I hadn't personally watched more than a couple episodes, despite my boss telling me I should take the time to watch the series; it was good to be in touch with Federation culture, he told me.
Regardless, now that I had a couple days off, Royo was insistent on taking me around town. The first ever gaian movie to be shown to the public was apparently in theaters as of today as well, The First Steps, which from what I could gather was a retelling of Apollo 11, but heavily altered to fit gaian narratives. Should be an interesting watch, at any rate.
I received a notification on my HUD, a message from Royo.
"Are you at the place?" I tapped on my arm touchpad.
"Yes, I'm at the southeast transit station, third bench to the right on the main entryway. Waiting for you." I watched as trains passed through the underground tunnel. Well, the Venlil equivalent to a maglev, anyway. It was quite fast, and I admired their efficiency. Venlil came and went through the station, as well as the occasional Krakotl or Harchen, and even a couple gaians at one point, chatting it up with a group of Venlil. Seems like I'm not the only gaian Venlils are bringing out here to have a good time.
"Hey!"
The familiarly cheery voice rang put, eliciting an unseen smile from beneath my helmet.
"Hey buddy!" I laughed and ruffled his hair. He had grown to like the little mannerisms that I found myself instinctively performing on him, and I couldn't deny how endearing he had become to me.
"Ready to go to the big city?" He asked excitedly.
"Hmm aw gee, I dunno now, I'm kinda scared now, what if-"
"W-wha? Hey! What do you mean!?"
"Relax, Royo" I laughed. "I was just joking."
"Oh… right! Haha! Uh, so next train looks like it's headed to Grand Hill, that's the place!"
"Well then let's go!"
The tram wasn't too dissimilar to what might've been found back on Earth, though it was a bit small for my liking, and I found myself having to contort my body a bit in order to fit into the seats. Looking around, there were a few venlil glancing at us, but nothing negative, atleast from what I had learned from Venlil body language.
It was a very smooth ride, if it weren't for the windows you probably couldn't even tell we were moving.
"First, I wanna take you to my favorite restaurant in the galaxy,
Virdi's. They have the best experience on the planet! Then, we could go see a movie and finish it off with a trip to the local bar!"
Seemed like he definitely had the day planned out. This was the planet he lived on though, I am but an alien visitor, so I was sure he knows what he was talking about, and I went along with it. I was sure it'd be a good time.
First stop was Virdi's. Now, I'm not an expert on Venlil culture but from what I could gather, it seems to be comparable to one of those local places that have good food but isn't famous, so the place isn't packed. Not trashy, but far for being particularly fancy, which suited me just fine.
A few customers glanced to look at us, but thankfully we didn't draw a crowd or start a scene. Gaians were novel, but most had grown atleast mostly accompanied to them. We took an empty seat and were served an appetizer of basic assortment of fruits and nuts which were totally foreign to me. Royo already began to eat some, but I hesitated.
"Whats the matter?" Royo asked.
I scanned over the fruits and nuts. My HUD informed me they're safe to eat.
"Uh, nothing just, I've never eaten these before."
"You've never had yira nuts before?"
"I've never had any of this. We always eat the wafers that are prepared for us."
"That's no way to live. Come on, give them a try!"
I pick up a single nut and bring it close to where my mouth would be. Automatically, a small section of my helmet opens like a miniature sliding door, allowing access to my mouth. As per training I was careful to cover it so no one could see my canines, and put the nut in my mouth, and chewed.
It was kind of like an almond, but sweeter and oddly… tangy? It didn't taste bad at any rate. Crunchy, too.
"That's not bad," I admit.
"Try the fruits too!"
I pick up a fruit. A small, yellow object with some firmness to it. It resembled a red blood cell in its shape, disc-like with a risen outer edge. I pop it into my mouth. It's very chewy and-
My mouth explodes with flavor. This is incredible… sweet like some sort of honey-candy, with the perfect consistency. Is this a natural growth on Dayden?
"Oh my gosh…" the trapdoor on my helmet snaps shut as my hand leaves the vicinity. "This is amazing…"
"See? I knew you'd love it!"
I take a handful from the bowl and stuff it into my mouth, letting the mix of nutty and fruity flavor flood my mouth.
This is so good! I couldn't tell if this food was just so amazing it blew everything out of the park, or if I had just grown numb to the same bland processed food wafers they'd been feeding me while planet-side.
The two of us continue to eat, and Royo commented on the little door in my helmet.
"So, that's how you guys eat huh?"
"Hmm? Oh, yeah. Well, usually for larger social meals we take our helmets off and eat, but that's not for you guys to see."
"Right… can't hardly see what's in there."
"That's the point."
Before long the bowl was empty.
"Hey so um… where are the menus?"
Royo laughed. "No menu here! They just fill the bowl with various fruits and nuts and when you're full they pay you a flat fee.
Oh, so sort of like a buffet, but a more social gathering where they bring fresh bowls of food. That's interesting.
"I need to eat out more," I chuckled.
"Hey um… sorry if this is a weird question but… I've just gotta ask, how do you… you know… expel waste, when you're wearing that all the time?" Royo asked.
The question caught me off guard, but it was innocent enough.
"We have a urine collection device so we just kinda relieve ourselves whenever we need to."
"Um… okay but what about… you know…"
"Ah… um, well, we try and hold it until we can get somewhere to take it off. The nutrient wafers we eat are extremely low in waste product so, we often don't need to go for several days."
"Oh I see. Sorry I know that was probably weird of me to ask…"
"No, no, it's fine! It's fine," I laughed. "Come to think of it I'm surprised I've never been asked that question before.
According to my HUD, we had spent a little over 30 minutes talking and eating. Royo had stopped eating long before I did, his little stomach couldn't pack away as much as I could.
"So, that Gaian movie they're showing…"
"Hm? Oh yeah, First Steps right? The one about Armst- I mean, the one about our origins as a nomadic species."
"Wanna go see it? I'm dying to see a movie about gaians from your perspective."
"Sure I'd definitely be up for it, sounds like a good time."
Admittedly, I was curious about just how much they changed history to make our journey into space acceptable for Federation viewing. I had no doubt in my mind it wouldn't at all be accurate, but at the very least it'd be nice to watch a movie with Royo. It'd certainly be more my speed than The Exterminators.
When we were finished eating, we received a flat fee for our time there, which Royo paid. It was only a short walk over to the theater, about 10 minutes.
"Maybe we should take a cab," I teased him. "So I don't have to carry you in my arms all the way to the theater."
"Oh shut up…" he replied, but I could tell from the tail signing I had picked up that he secretly enjoyed the teasing.
The theater was packed. Looks like the prospect of seeing the first gaian movie to be shown to the public was a popular one. Venlil theaters didn't include snacks to eat while watching the movie, but they also had seating more akin to giant elongated couches rather than individual seats, which was a godsend for someone like me who could barely, if ever, fit into Venlil seating.
The theater screen was also quite different. It was more panoramic, obviously to accommodate Venlil vision range. Making the screen straight forward wouldn't make any sense to them. That made the movie a little bit harder to follow along with, but I did the best I could.
So, as I expected, the movie is an adaptation of Apollo 11. An extremely loose adaptation of Apollo 11.
For starters, everyone is wearing the suits. Well, a precursor to the suits. Only the astronauts actually wear pressure suits, everyone on the ground and at mission control wear looser clothing that still obscures all skin and features from the camera. Of course, the historical names are all changed as well.
Neil Armstrong is now "H-15 Unity" and Buzz Aldrin is now "U-61 Admirality". The ever-forgotten Micheal Collins is "B-87 Serenity", and, female interestingly enough, and even Gene Krantz gets a gaian remake as "Y-23 Conviction"; I'd recognize that personality at the head of mission control no matter how many layers of censorship they put over him.
I couldn't quite recognize the planet the movie takes place on; it's undeniably Earth-like, but the vegetation seemed just a tad off. Maybe it was all CG. They call their planet "Terra", which to any gaians watching would obviously be a stand-in for Earth, though I'm pretty sure this is the first time the name of any Gaian homeworld has ever been stated in any official capacity. "Terra" does not appear in any Federation databanks, at any rate.
The story of course, also had to be changed. The real story probably wouldn't fly… rising tensions between two rival superpowers threatening each other with nuclear weapons, going to the moon to show off their technology for launching warheads? Yeah that wouldn't do. Though, I was surprised with the actual direction they went.
The narrative given in
First Steps is that gaians have immense respect for all planets, and rather than stay and settle these planets, eventually stripping them dry, they move from planet to planet to avoid wrecking the local ecosystems. This of course, was a completely foreign concept to the Federation, dare I say it could make the movie controversial, but hopefully it helped sway some folks into being less destructive with their colonialism.
During the events of the movie of course, Gaians are united and just now developing the technology for spaceflight, preparing to leave their birth planet. And the first steps in that journey of course, is a trip to the moon and back. That out of the way, the rest of the movie is actually very similar to the real events. The rocket they used to leave their planet is blatantly a Saturn V, it's not even modified at all.
The costumes and spacecraft were actually surprisingly faithful to the historical ones. The NASA logo and American flag were changed to the Gaian Concord's symbol, the bubble-helmets were made a uniform opaque all around, and the lander had its iconic triangular windows moved from the front to the sides to lessen any potentially predatory parallels, but aside from that, they looked just like the real things, which would be completely new to all the Venlil in the audience.
Of course, they had to introduce some drama. In real life, the landing went almost flawlessly and without a hitch, but that doesn't make for a riveting scene. So naturally they spiced it up. Failing RCS thrusters and a small explosion destroying the antenna leads the team back home to believe they had crashed. Having lost all contact with mission control, the gaians on Terra begin to mourn their loss. However "Serenity" (Collins), who's job was to wait in orbit to rendevous and bring them back home, refused to return home.
"No Command, with all due respect, I don't think you do understand. I decided a long time ago that if something like this were to happen, that I wasn't coming home alone. I'm staying right where I am."
Mission control panics, not knowing what to do. Just when all hope seems lost and everyone thinks they're going to lose Serenity as well, communications resume, Unity and Admiralty having fixed the antenna to reveal a messy, but successful, landing. Everyone at home celebrates, Serenity cries tears of joy, and the two astronauts on the surface erect the flag of the Gaian Concord. A jazzy, triumphant song fades in as the two astronauts happily hop around, and as the reflection of "Terra", an Earth with different continents, appears on Unity's visor, the credits roll.
For a xeno-safe reimagining of Apollo 11, this really wasn't too bad. I actually found myself enjoying it when I tried to put myself in Royo's shoes, seeing all this for the first time. Apollo 11 had been turned into dozens of movies for humans by this point of course, and it was far from the best version I had seen. But Royo definitely seemed to enjoy it, his eyes had been glued to the screen the entire time.
"That was amazing!" Exclaimed Royo as we left the theater. "Is that all true? Did that happen?"
"Yes, well, mostly" I lied. "It's definitely more… dramatized than the actual historical event," I answered. Technically the truth, though "idealized" might be another word to add there.
"Well, I loved it. You gaians sure know how to make an impression!"
It wasn't THAT good. Fine, I guess. "So, ready for some drinks?"
Oh yeah that's right, Royo wanted to take me out to the bar. "Oh, yeah! Sure. That sounds like a nice way to end it off."
After another short walk, we walk to the bar. The sun was already beginning to set, had we really been in the theater that long?
We take our seats, and the bar looked very similar to what one would expect on Earth. Stools, a bartender with drinks, looked promising. Our helmets had built in drinking straws which we could put into anything we needed to drink. Never a bad idea to save on your own water supply after all. The bartender slid me a drink, I sipped, and immediately spat it out inside my helmet, which registered as a gargling shout on my vocoder.
"Holy shit! What's in this? How strong is it?"
"Its… only 60% alcohol, sir," the bartender replied.
60 percent!? Can Venlil stomachs handle liquor that strong? "We, uh I mean… I uh, can't handle drinks that strong. It's uh… a condition. Yknow."
"Weakest we have is 40%..."
"Could you uh… maybe water it down?"
That got me some weird looks.
"Heh alright. Big strong gaian needs his alcohol tame."
If my helmet didn't cover my face I'd have given her an unamused look, but for now I just took the watered down drink and sipped with my straw. That was definitely better, and the fruity taste reminded me of the rum my local brewery back home produced. Very sweet once I could actually taste the stuff.
"Are all gaians that sensitive to alcohol?" Royo asked.
"Uhh… no…" technically the truth. There were some folks who could down Vodka like it's nothing.
"Just a condition. Don't worry about it, I'm a little more sensitive, that's all. Won't stop us from having fun!"
:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: **Memory Transcription Subject: Royo, Venlil Civilian, November 10th, 2142,*
It was kinda funny seeing Endeavor sip watered down alcohol through a straw like he was a child, but I wasn't one to judge. We went through drink after drink, and Endeavor was becoming more and more… woozy. He hadn't had any more drinks than I had, AND they were watered down, yet he was already wobbling.
"Yall see the new gaian movie yet?" The bartender asked.
Before I could respond, Endeavor slammed his drink on the table and answered in slurred speech.
"Fackin… stupid… they had to water it down for the…"
hic "Venlil… none of that movie is fuckin accurate…"
hic I thought that maybe we should get Endeavor back home now with how intoxicated he was becoming, but I couldn't deny my curiosity in what he was saying.
"Serenity wasn't a fuckin girl… and his name was COLLINS" he shouted.
Collins? I'd never heard that word before. By now we were definitely getting some weird stares.
"Uh… Endeavor, maybe we should-"
"Aww Royo you fuckin… I just wanna KISS you ya fuckin… adorable little… hrnng…"
"Well, I hope the bit about leaving the planets alone was also wrong. Leaving natural predators to wreck the planet is just irresponsible. I was hoping we'd see some exterminators in the movie," one other bar patron commented.
Endeavor swiveled around, holding up one finger as though accusing.
"Yooouuuuuu… mother-fuckers… you guys are just… fuckin… torch everything you don't like! That's fucked!"
What was Endeavor talking about? The extermination of predators? Everyone knew that was something that had to be done to save the environment. Predators were a curse on the planets they inhabited, and wouldn't stop until everything was ravaged.
"H-hey Endeavor, let's go home-"
"What did you just call me!?" The other Venlil yelled, getting off his stool.
"I said…"
hic "that you guys are a bunch of planet-destroying maniacs," he laughed. "Did you know we gaians banned flamethrower? That's cuz they're fucked up!"
Okay he definitely isn't thinking straight. "P-please, pay no mind to him… he's sensitive to alcohol!" I tried to remedy the situation and brought him down from his stool. He stumbled, and… I think vomited? Oh my stars… he vomited inside his helmet.
His stumbles became struggles and muffled yelling as vomit threatened to suffocate him, and I almost puked myself with the image in my mind. I took his hand and forcefully brought him to the bathroom, which was thankfully empty, and locked the door.
Endeavor was grasping at his neck, which I thought was instinctual, until I noticed two pairs of buttons and a pair of latches…
Endeavor's helmet came off. From behind, I saw a gaian's head. Mostly bald, with a small patch of dark hair on the top. Light, pale skin, a pair of very small ears on either side. Puke was smeared across the inside of his helmet, and it dropped from what must have been his mouth as he panted and groaned on his knees.
Tentatively, I slowly walked around him, and froze in place.
His eyes aren't on the sides.
Endeavor turned his head at me, two binocular eyes locked onto me with crazed vigor, mouth agape with two pairs of pointed teeth.
I screamed.

Joseph loves the agricultural life, but he is the second son, and his father’s vineyard will be inherited by his brother Donat, the firstborn. He yearns for a job growing grapes and for an opportunity to marry Teresa Gallego. In Madrid, an assassination plot, conceived against the political leader of Spain by men of wealth and power, creates a storm of intrigue that sucks into its vortex a group of innocent young farm workers in Santa Eulália. How Josep’s life is changed drastically by these events, and how, ironically, they gradually turn him into an inspired vintner with an evolving vision of life, is the fascinating story of "The Winemaker". During the Book Club, enjoy four fantastic Spanish wines to taste. Chef Bryan will create a pairing board of house–made Spanish tapas, cheese and charcuterie to accompany the tasting. 2023.03.24 23:56 Capital-Transition-5 Has anyone with ME/CFS symptoms tried swimming?
I know that cold water helps to boost some people's energy, so I was wondering if being inside the cold water of the swimming pool would relieve some symptoms.
Also I can't move about much. I can walk a couple of minutes at a time without triggering PEM. I can't stand or sit for long periods. But I'm wondering whether my body floating in water would relieve some pressure from my body so that I could move without triggering PEM.
In order to reduce as much energy expenditure as possible and be safe, I was planning to dress into a swimming costume beforehand under my clothes then rest, have my mum drive me to the pool, rest once I'm there before getting into the pool, at the most paddle about and swim one lap of breast stroke, then have my mum drive me back home, have a bath at home to wash rather than a shower, and then ensure I've got nothing planned for the next two days so I can rest and monitor whether I've exerted myself.

2023.03.24 23:52 Spencewin Jimmy Lee the Jersey Outlaw as 21st Century American Mythos: Identity, Jungian Autistonalysis, and the Unlimited Sunset of Western Decline Under Late Stage Capitalism as Understood Through A Post-Hegelian Neomonarchical Radical-Centrist Traditional Lens with an Emphasis on Being Drenched In Cum Okay
The Jersey Outlaw lives! The Jersey Outlaw is in each of us. The part of us that believes that if we lean out for love straight-ahead, with pupil2pupil eye contact, we will be rejected, and so instead come at an angle, groping at connection in bent, strange ways. Our longing for even the simplest semblance of social success leaving us contorted, tragically tangled, in a twisted ironic fashion, as if the polarity of the magnets fucked around and what was meant to attract instead repelled.
That's the Outlaw within, man. Get it? The character, the mask we don when we trick ourselves into believing who we really are won't be understood, or accepted, and who we really aren't, will. Opting instead to cobble together something we hope is more familiar, palatable, and attempt to disguise ourselves in it, something that can replace the messy fucked-up real thing, a sheet slid across the shambles of the sole soul of the self, silent, supine and statuesque.
The Outlaw functions as aegis and protects us against rejection by otherfolk, so that what would otherwise feel like an attack on self-esteem with the subsequent bruise to the ego both realizing and reinforcing respectively the deepest held fear, the belief that in some fundamental, immutable way, we are unworthy - too ugly for eyes - is instead mitigated by the "armor" and made to fit much more manageable framing (e.g., difference in taste, jock v. nerd, bigotry, [giving and receiving] "They don't 'get it'" etc.) and what is instead rejected are the colorfully-costumed alter egos - the stunt-double identities - which are invariably merely reproductions borrowed from our swinish culture anyway. As a result, the self can remain safely hidden, unscathed.
The Outlaw is one of many archetypes, but like all archetypes, he is fat... --no, sorry, flat, not fat, I meant flat, like all archetypes he is flat, two-dimensional, and therefore can't contain the parts of a person that can be loved. In this way, Jimmy's appearance was a genuine triumph in my eyes, even personally inspiring, as I realized that even if the Outlaw is what put him on our radar in the first place, it's Jimmy who we want to stick around. I realized also that the same must be true of me, of all of us.
While I appreciate that my own "Outlaw" has been an invaluable companion along the treacherous ride through the various gulches and swamps of insane insecurity (possibly insecure sanity, probably insecurity about possible insanity, or possibly insecurity about probable insanity, no way to know to know ways to know) all of us here are no doubt familiar with, it is inevitable that personal growth demands a parting of ways.
I guess what I'm saying is, it's only helpful for a time; then you ought to say goodbye, but, while the silhouette of the Outlaw still stands in sight, backlit by straight line stellar shine, starlight strung like zithers pulled through pinholes unplucked in the sable sky, before the Outlaw is in the infinite obliviate murk of umbral midnight obscured, be sure tip the brim of your ridiculous, silly hat, as a "Thank pardner" and ride on, toward yourself. What the heckin' dog…
"He who slept long has risen
Risen from vaults deep below.
In the twilight he stands, great and unknown,
And he crushes the moon in his black hand.
It falls far into the evening noise of the cities
Frost and shadow of a strange darkness.
And the market of round vortices freezes to ice.
It's getting quiet. you look around
And nobody knows."

I am aware it is not perfect but I had LOADS OF Fun watching it and I think it deserves a lot of love. Here are the reasons
Costumes - soooi detailed and beautiful and consistent
Wide shots with nature, places with so many objects and details and a lot of different stages to see
Music - reminded me of LotR and brought back nice memories
Magic, oh god it was sooooo good, it's the first fantasy series that managed to make it look exactly how I always imagined magic
Fight sequences
Kaz Brekker - the actor
Romances - yes, so many happy couples!
Healthy boundaries - yessssss please more wise people who won't throw themselves away for a bit of love
Powerful women
Consent!
Lack of homophobia great god thank you
The flying ship looked great!
Amazingly clichéd romantic or emotional lines that I have read in all the books but here sounded sincere
The visuals, lights and shadows, the best
Baghra!
Ben Barnes!
So much action, whoa
Also male vulnerability and hugs

2023.03.24 23:18 zbracisz Big Game -- How Millarworld fits together
Had this on my mind for a bit, and seemed like a convenient spot to put it.
As of 2014 Millar sketched out the basics of how the books interconnect. Basically, there are two universes the books are sorted into. The high-superhero books like Jupiter's Legacy/Circle/Requiem and Supercrooks exist in their own world, which is fictional in the other world, which begins as a facsimile of our own, but changes over time, becoming more fantastical. Effectively, JL is what OUR world looked like before the supervillain uprising, which the villains eventually won, and then used super-science and reality warping imp powers to reboot into something like our real world, except with the Fraternity of supervillains ruling everything behind the scenes. JL presumably depicts what that world would have become if the uprising had never happened and superheroes more or less got rid of the worst of the villains.
Kick Ass and Hitgirl are the first overt eruptions of the old reality into the one the Fraternity is controlling, followed by Superior, who is explicitly stated to be a hero from the JL world, brought into our world by the demon Orman. The original Nemesis and Run take place around the same time as Superior, and the second part of the American Jesus trilogy is referenced in Wanted, which occurs around 2004.
That's as far as Millar himself has explicitly confirmed, so the rest is speculation and supposition. Buckle up.
Wanted is more or less explained already. What became of the Fraternity after the conflict we see in the original series is unclear, but most of the North American, Australian and European families are wiped out, and may have either been repopulated or just gone extinct. Bigger picture, how exactly the actions of the Fraternity fit with the existence of something like the Magic Order needs explaining, or how the Fraternity interacts with the Weird Satanic Conspiracy ( WSC, see below)
Chosen/American Jesus is already more or less explained. The trilogy conclusion seems to be rooted in the recent past, with covid lockdowns mentioned, so the antichrist may even still be president. The main thing is that Lucifer has re-ascended to heaven, and maybe even taken his legion of fallen angels with him, which has some implications for the other books' characters. Did Orman serve Lucifer? What happened to the Weird Satanic Conspiracy we see in this trilogy? I have some thoughts.
The Unfunnies will probably not be mentioned except perhaps in a deep cut easter-egg.
Kick-Ass/Hit-Girl are more or less already explained. Curious how old Mindy and Dave are supposed to be now. Probably both in their early twenties. We do see Mindy in the preview pages and she does look older.
War Heroes is unfinished and probably will not be mentioned. Doesn't fit well with the rest of the universe anyway.
Nemesis is an interesting question, as the one we see in the first series dies, and is later revealed to be essentially a rich person being empowered to go on a joy ride by some unspecified company with incredible resources. The 'Matthew Anderson' in that story describes a family background including a father who hunted children with his rich friends and committed suicide when he got caught. This is almost exactly the sort of thing we see in the first Prodigy series and pretty similar to the hijinks of the satanic conspiracy. We see echoes of similar stuff in the Nemesis reboot. This Weird Satanic Conspiracy is a favorite trope of MM and shows up or is alluded to in many forms. How exactly the old "Matt Anderson" and the new one can be reconciled remains to be seen. I would be extremely surprised if it did not also involve The Fraternity in some form.
Superior is more or less already explained. Presumably Simon is a similar age to Dave and Mindy and will be able to access his powers again somehow. If Orman followed Lucifer and returned to heaven at the end of American Jesus, then that might be a clue.
Jupiter's Legacy and Supercrooks will probably be treated as fiction in the world Big Game will take place in.
Kingsman/Secret Service: Eggsy shows up in the preview material and reconciling the SS stories with the rest is not terribly difficult. Similarly for King of Spies.
MPH, as mentioned, has been explicitly confirmed and shouldn't pose many difficulties to include in some way.
Starlight is an interesting case, as it raises questions of how extensive the Fraternity's reality-reboot was. It obviously didn't extend to other planets, and Duke's memories of his adventures appear intact. Was it a global mind wipe of some kind, or a hard reboot of the whole universe? Either way, something needs explaining. Whatever gets decided probably can also go for Sharkey the Bounty Hunter and Space Bandits, but these latter two easily fit into the more fantastical JL universe if need be.
Prodigy: Surely Edison will be front and center for the crossover and there are a couple points where his two volumes raise questions. As mentioned, Sir Francis' cult of other-dimensionally-descended sadists seems extremely reminiscent to similar things seen and mentioned in both versions of Nemesis, and to things seen in the American Jesus trilogy. The stranded Prince Nimrod of the first volume potentially forms a bridge between the more science-based Fraternity and the more supernatural WSC. In the second volume, the city of shangri-la and it's references to an advanced ancient civilization and a great cataclysm easily tie into the setting of Empress, and The Icarus Society is basically The Fraternity without the costumes.
Huck: The main thing here is explaining where exactly Huck's mom got her powers and how Russian scientist dude got the wherewithal to make super-advanced androids. The involvement of the Russian Fraternity seems likely.
Reborn: how the cosmology and afterlife scheme described in the this book squares with the cosmology of the American Jesus trilogy is not entirely clear, but MM generally leans toward a pretty sci-fi version of heaven and hell, so it's all hand-waveable. HOW it might be included in the story is another matter, but probably the Magic Order would be involved somehow.
The Magic Order raises huge questions. Did they exist in the old version of reality, or were they something that arose as some sort of compensation by the universe to the reboot? If they always existed, did they fight the Fraternity and lose, or strike some sort of bargain?
Night Club and The Ambassadors are ongoing or not even started so I will suspend speculation for now, and Chrononauts I actually haven't read yet, so put a pin in that...

2023.03.24 23:13 hypnotis3r My (F25) boyfriend (M28) is doing nothing.
Hello, I am not fluent, sorry for writing mistakes. I wrote both drunk and with tears. I don’t have many friends and I believe someone will read this.
Our relationship started at collage and we’ve been together for 4 years. When I met him, he was failing all of his classes (14 class. exactly) and I helped him, he graduated with me. He is only child and very spoiled. One of our professors failed him again but I advised him to talk with her and he visited, when she learned I am with him, he said, she was happy and supports our future together so changed his result. This made him graduate.
I am a tour guide, lisenced and professional. My bff secured me a good job in a perfect travel agency and later I secured him a job there too. He is also a guide. In my country, our salary is very high, only work for a week and you don’t have to work another month. That’s how perfect.
But he didn’t keep up with me and the other guides in the agency. We joked about how fake our smiles etc. It’s like a role, we tell where we are visiting, feel costumers valuable and as soons as they left the bus we calm and be ourselves again. He didn’t like it. He has a talent, and i supported him to draw. Digital art. Monsters, animals etc. But we are not in America or Europe so print on demands are not like in our country, it’s zero demand. He connected couple of tattoo shops for design but got declined.
When he went to a tour, he always came back with complaints. Costumers sometimes called and told he wasn’t happy, he didn’t care them etc. Our boss finally ended his job. She was polite and said him that maybe it’s the best and he can find another agency. Then my bff left and only I stayed, she knows my job and always keep my days busy.
After he fired, both me and our friends passed him job offers but he refused. I live in my own apartment, far away from my family. He always here. Never leaves and finds job. I pay rent, bills, buy meals, ingredients, do cooking, make him happy in bed, cleaning and he doesn’t do anything since past year. He only got one job in Istanbul. A foreign group came and he travelled with them 5 days. Got 10k. Perfect. He spend that money to fix his pc.
But, 44 days ago my working area hit with two earthquakes and thousands are dead. Cities are dead. So I am at home and spending my savings to both of us. Sometimes, when I he doesn’t want to eat what I’m gonna cook, he wants to order. With my money, mostly. And i feel drowning. My boss can’t give me jobs because there is no demand to tours. He actually lives with his family but he always came to stay.
Couple of days ago, we met with my bff. She was thrilled because she is going to marry end of this year and has a perfect boyfriend. We haven’t seen eachother for 3 months so she had a lot of to tell. While she was talking, i felt he feel awful. Because he never buys me flowers, buy me a Pandora bracelet, pay my rent to help me… not even a theatre ticket. What i mean, he doesn’t do anything to make me feel valuable.
After we got home, he asked how i feel. And that was my break point. I explained how hurt I am, how I feel awful. He didn’t speak. Not even a word. Then he packed his computer. I asked him, if he is leaving. But he said no.
He packed only to unpack tomorrow to play LOL with his friends. In the same house, he didn’t spoke to me three days, refused to eat, drink and only play online.
Slowly started talking with me but like I am the bad guy. I left to visit my friend so that I am writing.
I am considering break up. Maybe too late but when I think, i never felt beautiful, feel valuable in the past two years. I don’t know how to break up. What to say. Maybe giving him a change? But i tried to give him many times. I am sorry, it is a long post. But i think i need help.

2023.03.24 23:11 OperationNervous1636 Some Neighborhood Stories that I found interesting
2023.03.24 23:07 MrSharks202 World War Service Industry
I could see it in his eyes, a distant and pained thousand-yard-stare, the type of look that was hardened over years of brutality, the mind of a man cursed with the knowledge of humanity’s most horrid and inescapable depths, the grimace of a human who knew.
“What theater?” I asked simply while sitting beside him, offering my bottle of Jack Daniels.
The park was sparse and cute, families and picnics dotted the horizon like freckles, yet I saw him amongst the pantomime. I saw him because he wasn’t acting. “Olive garden,” He said with grizzled honesty, taking the Jack from my hand and swigging without reservation. “You?”
“Started at a Ruby Tuesdays,” Memories of violence and horrid trauma flashed in my mind like grenades. “Worked my way up the ranks before moving.”
He nodded, “What branch?”
“Front of house, but they also put me on dish when manpower was low.”
A smirk glanced the man’s face, one that spoke of understanding and sympathy, but not of remorse. He knew just as well as I that war was hell, and hell was the service industry. “Call outs?”
“They just quit.” I said while drinking the Jack. “They just….”
“Couldn’t take it.” He finished for me with a nod. “I know son.”
Comradely was all we had. Unity in knowing that we weren’t alone in this brutal state of awareness. We were the tainted children of the modern world, the slimey cogs used to push humanity deeper into whatever sin we were heading for.
“You?”
“Back of house.”
The branch only said so much, how strong was his leader? What was the rush like? Only God can judge a man, and only God can understand the pain of a man on grill.
“The brass hats?” I asked.
He chuckled, letting his head rest between his legs before brining his eyes back to the light of day. Sometimes the soul needs the familiarity of darkness, “GM was fine. A good woman who knew what battle was, but the high end brass hats…”
“Corporate.”
“Corporate.” He corroborated. “They could go to hell. Didn’t know a damn thing about what we went through.”
“They never do,” I offered him more Jack, but I saw the shake in his hands. Raising my eyes to meet his I didn’t see the stare anymore, but I saw the fear, the scare of a man reliving the war.
“Bread-sticks.” He said with a shutter. “If I hear one more damn man say Bread—“
“Shhhh” I wrapped my arm around him, keeping my voice low and trying to pull him back to reality, to the park where no one would ask for salted carbs. “It’s over now, it’s over.”
He nodded, but I could tell that the pain wouldn’t leave. Bread-sticks stay with a man, now and forever. “Where’d you end up?” He asked, finally taking the Jack and downing some with a shake.
“Local chain.” I said with a distant glare. “Pay was good, damn good.”
Only veterans knew what that meant, it was a false summit, a golden dance that hid something venomous. Every great victory comes at a great cost, and the bigger the stakes, the deeper the cut. He asked timidly, “Was it worth it?”
A shutter hit me, it ran down the length of my spine and found my feet shifting awkwardly on the green grass. “I rose through the ranks quick.” I storied. “Host to server to bartender within a year… No one could last.”
“You manned the glass?”
“Damn right,” I said with honest pride. “That bar was mine. Held the front with pride… But…”
“Aye?”
“We were a destination spot, right by a stadium.”
"Dear God!” His face of horror brought me some sort of strange warmth, it is why we talk amongst each other, this understanding. It was all we had. “Concerts?”
“Sports.” I said with spite. “College ball.”
“No!”
The rush of memories was almost too much. The constant ring of drinks arriving at the bar computer, the deep sea of angry, bustling people begging for more. They were incessant, almost inhuman. What rested in the eyes of a person wanting to be served wasn't thirst or hunger, but desperation. They clawed to reach my bar, and by the time they made it they were hardened, different than when they'd arrived. It was enough to make a grown man shake.
"Buddy?" He rested a hand on my back. "You still there?"
"Sorry," I shook me head, but my train of thought didn't return. The man seemed to understand, and for the moment we just enjoyed the silence, something service vets know too little of.
"I can't sleep some nights." I admitted. "I keep hearing the alarm demanding more drinks."
"Mine is the grill timer." He sipped more. "...That damn buzz."
"I suppose we all have some sort of haunt don't we?"
"Something has to last with us."
I wiped the dripping liquor off of my chin, but it had already stained my shirt. "Do you miss anything about it?"
He was silent for a moment, musing the idea while we both let the Jack warm our stomachs and make its way to our brains. "It was instant." He finally said. "Everything about it, the money, the battle, the friendships, it was all in the moment. No rest for the wicked or her servers. No such thing as tomorrow, no such thing as later, it was all now or never."
I smiled, "Never ask a member of the service industry what they're doing tomorrow."
"God knows they won't know."
"But after work?"
"What else but drink!"
We laughed, letting the only lovely thing of war have the microphone for a moment.
Then the man took a deep breath, and looked at me with a sympathetic glare. "I have to apologize."
"For?"
Then he stood up from the grass, peering into the horizon with a pained grimace. "I've got to go."
"Home?"
"No... I hope you understand, I needed to feel what it was like for a moment... To be free"
"No!" I stood up, shocked. "You're still in?"
He looked at his watch. "Shift starts in thirty."
Just like that his face changed right before my eyes. The scars were no longer so old, and the depth that surrounded his eyes seemed to be made of fresh dirt. "I don't think I can leave at this point."
I didn't want to understand, I didn't want to agree, but I did. I knew all too well. Sometimes the memories were enough to bring you back, like a stockholmed prisoner you'd waddle into a restaurant and enlist again, not sure why, and relive the battle all over. You'd be beaten, thrashed against the wall, and shot up with humanities worst, but you'd be paid in cash that very night, and you'd spend the moonlight hours celebrating your survival, not caring about tomorrow or her worries, for you lived today.
"You can fight it!" I said while grabbing him by the shoulders, a new and sharp desperation gripping me. "Just leave! Don't come back, find another job! Anything but that!"
"No son," My hands fell from him, and his found mine. A gentle and caring hand, and a small smile. "Some of us are just meant to die out there. Some of us have to be the soil for the flowers to grow."
I shook my head... He was for life. He would move from front to front, swap branches and rise through the ranks a plethora of times. He'd go out every night and blow his money, then walk in the next day with a nigh-fatal hangover. He'd cook, wash, maybe manage for a bit, and keep the world running. He was a lifer.
I couldn't deny it, I knew the breed. Men and women made different from myself, stronger, more hearty. "Good luck." I finally said. "It's hard out there."
"Oh I know." He turned and began to waltz off through the park, heading towards his fate like Sisyphus and his boulder, traveling in between the families and couples, in between the young kids who didn't need to work, and by the adults who would never understand. "No one knows more than us son..."
And he went, the nameless veteran of World War Service Industry. The man who wouldn't stop, who couldn't stop, for it was his blood. Sir, you have my salute, and my sympathies. Keep fighting, and enjoy the ecstasy of being able to say, everyday: I lived.

Chapter 23: 2008: A Shawn Odyssey
Boys: Shawn
Girls: Courtney, Heather, Shawn
Episode 23: 2008: A Shawn Odyssey
"Last time on Total Drama Action," Chris said over a shot of the film lot. "In a world they didn't create," the four teens were shown waking up in the forest, "two honorable warriors," Shawn and Lindsay's fight was shown, "and two foes battled it out for Kung-fu supremacy," Courtney and Heather were shown fiddling with their joysticks.
"No mountain was too high," Heather and Shawn were shown climbing. "No aquatic creature too viscous," Courtney was shown fighting a jellyfish.
"In the end, Shawn won the reward," the theorist was shown fighting the Sasquatch, "but lost his alliance with Courtney," he and Courtney were shown ending their partnership.
"But it's gonna take more than puny alliances to survive this week," Chris told the camera as it flashed to his close-up, "on Total! Drama! Action!"
XXXXX
The episode opened on a shot of the full moon. A rat walked on-screen in front of the camera as a grandiose tune started to play. The rat sniffed the air then scurried along what was revealed to be the top of a large speaker. The music reached its climax, and the speaker shook so much the rat fell off behind it.
The shot pulled out to show the cast trailers, both flanked by speakers as tall as they were. Further to the left was a tall blueish-green monolith-like set piece. The lights inside the trailers flicked on and the complaints of the castmates echoed out of them. The doors opened, showing the girls filing out; Courtney, then a hunched over Heather, then Lindsay at the end, all three in their pajamas. The camera cut over to the guys' trailer as Shawn exited similarly. The survivalist paused briefly to yawn and stretch his arms, and the camera moved back to the girls.
"What is wrong with those mattresses?" Lindsay asked. "It's like they were full of rocks."
Confessional: Shawn
"I slept on Noah’s bed, so I don’t have the same back problems that the girls do," Shawn said. "The layers on it are super soft."
Confessional Ends
The remaining four met up as a group. Heather looked over to see the lone male scratching his butt and armpit at the same time.
"Can you believe this guy?" Heather commented.
"What a neanderthal," Courtney said.
They looked over at Lindsay, who noticed the monolith off to the side, and pointed at it with a few animalistic grunts.
The shot cut to the top of it, the moon still visible behind it. The camera panned down to its base where Chef sat in a leopard-print loincloth banging on an upside-down soup pot with a couple bones as though it were a drum. Both the castmates and Chris, also wearing a leopard-print loincloth and with his hair unkempt, approached the monolith at the same time.
"Good morning, cast!" Chris greeted as Chef stopped playing. "Or should I say, good middle of the night? Hope you're all well-rested and ready to boldly go where very few men and even fewer ladies have gone before!"
"Wait," Shawn spoke up. "Didn't we already do the caveman movie?"
"We did, Shawn," Chris answered, "but we had to reuse the costumes since my astronomical salary accounts for oh, roughly ninety-seven percent of the show's budget."
"Chris," Heather said, "it is the middle of the night. Can't we do the challenge in the morning?"
"No can do Heather," Chris replied. "While today's movie genre may start at the dawn of time, it quickly moves up, up, and away!" The camera panned up to the night sky as a shooting star flew in front of the moon.
"So we're doing space movies today?" Lindsay asked as if she already knew the answer.
"What was your first clue, Linds-iot?" Heather told her.
Confessional: Lindsay
"I've been called a lot of things, such as moron, dimwit, idiot, and much more," Lindsay said. "I've been trying to prove myself, and no way am I letting Heather drag me down."
Confessional Ends
"Awesome!" Shawn cheered. "I love sci-fi movies."
"Don't you get enough science fiction from those movies you binge watch?" Courtney half-insulted, half-asked the boy.
"Don't you get enough pleasure from looking down and nagging on us?" Shawn retorted.
"Listen up, space cases," Chris interrupted. "You'll soon be facing some out-of-this-world challenges, but first..." He quickly ducked away, and the camera cut to him pushing away the monolith to reveal four small boxes set on a table behind it. "I have a very special surprise for you," he told the cast. "Each of you has received one special item sent to you from the outside world. Which by now," he picked up one of the packages and tossed it to Lindsay, who caught it before Heather was tossed her own gift, "must feel like a distant planet."
He tossed another one like a football and it was caught by Courtney, with Shawn also shown to have received his gift.
Shawn opened his, and looked at a silver tinfoil hat shaped like his beanie with excitement. "My tinfoil hat!" he cheered. "Nice!"
"You have a tinfoil hat?" Lindsay asked.
"Yup," Shawn answered. "It keeps the aliens from reading my brains and what I think."
Confessional: Shawn
"I used to wear this thing all the time," Shawn told the audience. "Unfortunately, my dad confiscated it since it made me look weird and unusual to others. Afterwards, I decided to get the beanie I’m wearing right now."
Confessional Ends
The shot cut to Lindsay as she opened hers and smiled. "My pom poms!" she exclaimed. "My cheer team didn't forget about them!"
The camera cut to Courtney and Heather, both having opened their boxes. The former took out a picture frame and let out a choked sob.
"What's wrong?" Heather asked. "Did you get a photo of a bad hair day?"
"Just… I need a minute," Courtney claimed.
Confessional: Courtney
Courtney had her picture with her. "When I was head of the school debating team, my partner walked out on me during the biggest debate of the year because she felt I wasn't being a "team player". I went on to win it without her! Take that, Brittany Reed!" She revealed her picture, which was her in the middle of a speech. "This photo is a reminder. If you want something done right, you do it yourself!"
Confessional Ends
Heather finally managed to open her box and pulled out a green jawbreaker. "A jawbreaker? How is this a prize?" She asked in frustration.
"I don't know, but sweet things usually go to sweet people," Courtney insulted.
"Damien must have delivered this to me!" Heather growled.
"Who the heck is Damien?" Courtney questioned.
"He's my little brother," Heather answered. "That twerp likes to pull pranks on me every chance he gets. He's almost like Sadie."
"What else were you expecting?" Courtney wondered.
"He could've given me my trophy for the annual ballet contest I participated in when I was eight," Heather grumbled.
Confessional: Heather
"I'm still going to keep this jawbreaker," Heather said as she held it. "Damien may have sent it as a joke, but I won't let him have the last laugh."
Confessional Ends
"Alright gang," Chris addressed the cast, "time to blast off to the great unknown. Everyone knows a good outer space movie has three things in common. One, the zero gravity is always a trip. Two, the G-forces are killer! And three, everything is recycled in space. Including number one, and number two."
"Gross," Courtney winced.
"Eww," Heather said in disgust.
"Which brings us to our first challenge," Chris continued. "I'll meet you at the thrill ride set in ten minutes."
The cast looked at each other in confusion. "Did he say thrill ride?" Lindsay asked.
\
The scene briefly flashed to the full moon behind the water tower for a moment before flashing away again to a close-up of the host, back in his normal clothes.
"The way to achieve zero gravity," Chris explained to the contestants, all of whom have also gotten dressed, "is to fly a jet on a parabolic course. With large vertical climbs, and even larger vertical drops." The camera panned across the faces of the cast, all of which looked freaked. "But with the price of jet fuel today," the scene flashed to a makeshift space shuttle tied to what looked like a roller coaster cart at a boarding platform, "we're gonna simulate the effect on this makeshift space shuttle!"
The shot flashed away again, the camera now panning up a spaceship-themed roller coaster set among several other theme park attractions. "Which will hit the optimum speed needed to keep you all in a perpetual state of zero gravity," the host explained before the shot cut back to him and the cast.
"Are we going to get killed?" Lindsay asked. "I won't go in if it will."
"Is that thing even up to code?" Courtney wondered.
"Your first outer space challenge will be to spend the rest of the night on the shuttle sleeping in zero gravity conditions," Chris told the cast.
"That doesn't sound so difficult," Shawn said with a pleased expression.
\
The footage flashed ahead to a close-up of an intercom speaker as the host's voice came in over it. "Y'all might wanna hold on to something bolted down," Chris told the cast as the camera pulled back to show them holding pillows in their hands, "'cause we're almost ready to launch!"
"Yes!" Lindsay cheered.
"He said launch," Heather told her, "not lunch."
"I know," Lindsay explained. "I just can't wait to be flying inside a spaceship."
The shot cut back to the intercom as an engine was heard starting up over it. "In five! Four! Three! Two! One!" The camera cut outside as the space shuttle strapped to the roller coaster cart shuddered to life. "Blast off!" At Chris' ecstatic signal, the shuttle's engines flared on and the contraption took off along the track. It quickly reached the main peak as the castmates screamed in terror, and the scene cut back inside.
"If I'm gonna die, at least make my death look cool!" Shawn yelled as he clenched his eyes shut. The camera began to pull back from his close-up as he slowly opened his eyes, looked around, and smiled. He and the other three were now floating inside the shuttle's cabin. "How about that? We're floating in mid-air!"
"Alright astronauts," Chris told them, the camera cutting from a close-up of the intercom to the host lounging in his chair at the monitor room watching the cast on the monitors, "it's gonna be a long night. Better get some sleep!" He pressed a button on the keyboard and added "If you can!" The monitor screens switched from Heather and Shawn to Courtney and Lindsay, and the host accepted a cup of coffee from Chef with a laugh.
\
"Can I borrow any of your pillows?" Courtney asked as she floated around. "I lost mine."
"That's your own fault then," Shawn relaxed on his pillow. "You lose it, you deal with it."
"Fine," Courtney looked away from his former ally. "We are floating in mid-air, so I won't complain… much."
Confessional: Lindsay
"Courtney and Shawn are at each other's throats just like me and Amy," Lindsay said. "There's only one person who could've made them split, which is obviously Heather."
Confessional Ends
The scene returned to a shot of a jawbreaker floating in the air, then panned out to show that Heather was chasing after it. "If that jawbreaker wasn't so big, I would be able to stash it into my pocket!" She said as she floated past Lindsay who was looking at her pom poms.
"At least what you got is tasty," Lindsay said. "I can't eat or lick my pom poms."
"Good thing you're smart enough to know what's edible," Heather snootily responded.
"If they were taffy, I'd likely eat them," Lindsay responded.
Confessional: Heather
Heather was focused on filing her nails. "I assume I'm the favorite to win. I mean, look who's left. A control freak, a smelly nut, and a dumb blonde. And the only thing Lindsay has going for her is that she hasn't made any enemies. Whoop-de-doo! We're not here to make friends. We're here to win." As she talked, she snapped her nail filer in half. "And that is exactly what I plan on doing."
Confessional Ends
The scene cut forward to the castmates as they slept peacefully with their pillows. This only lasted for a couple seconds before an alarm started to sound off loudly, and the lights in the cabin flashed red as the four teens woke up. "This is Houston," Chris said over the loudspeaker, "and you have a problem. You've been hit by an asteroid, and your guidance system is toast!"
"What do we do?!" Lindsay asked in a panic.
"I've watched Race to Save Space 3 before I came to this show," Shawn said. "We have to override the navigation controls."
"Quick!" Heather cried. "Someone grab the joystick thingy!"
Courtney sprung off a nearby wall and darted towards the shuttle's main computer. She grabbed onto a central joystick as she floated by, then planted her feet on the desk and pulled. The camera zoomed in on it and after a few moments of effort the stick moved to the side, shutting off the alarms and returning the lights to normal.
"Way to go Courtney!" Lindsay cheered.
"Nice job," Shawn said.
The camera zoomed in on Heather's jawbreaker as it drifted closer to a small window. It hit the window, cracking it slightly. The camera pulled back again to show it pushing back forward, but the force of its push-off caused the glass to shatter soon after it floated away. The air immediately began to be sucked out of the cabin, and the lights flashed red once more as Heather looked at the broken window with a shocked look.
Confessional: Heather
"At the very least, I can say that I'm not to blame for the window breaking," Heather claimed.
Confessional Ends
Heather, Courtney, Lindsay, and Shawn were shown floating in front of the shuttle controls. "Uh-oh!'" Chris announced jovially over the intercom. "Looks like you have a hole in your fuselage!" He laughed, and the camera panned across a closer shot of the four teens' faces. "You have exactly t-minus-ten minutes to plug the hole, or you'll run out of precious oxygen."
"We have to plug the hole!" Heather yelled.
"We just need something big and form-fitting!" Courtney replied.
They all turned to Lindsay. "Why are you looking at me?"
"We can use your pom poms to fill the hole," Heather said. "It's either that, or death."
Lindsay gave them a brief look and sighed. "They are valuable, but I can get new ones after the show ends."
The scene flashed back outside, the sun already up and the shuttle-coaster still flying along its track. The camera cut to the boarding platform as it finally came to a stop, and Chris was standing in wait as the shuttle door burst open with a puff of steam. One by one, the castmates fell out of it. Lindsay was first, then Courtney, then Shawn; all landed on top of one another in a heap. Heather was the last, and was the only one who maintained her balance.
"Will somebody help me down, or will I have to do it myself?" Heather huffed.
"Go with the second option," Lindsay replied. "There's a ladder in front of you."
Heather rolled her eyes, but climbed down the ladder.
The camera cut to Chef standing outside of the broken window, Lindsay's pom poms sticking out of it. "That was smart, sealing the breach with those pom poms," he said while pulling them out.
"It was my idea," Courtney claimed. "No sweat to it."
"You just love to pat yourself on the back," Shawn rolled his eyes.
Confessional: Shawn
"I really hope that I can get Courtney and Heather out," Shawn confessed. "Lindsay's the only one I'd like to face in the finale."
Confessional Ends
"Nice going Lindsay," Chris told her. "It was your pom poms that saved the group."
"Yes!" Lindsay jumped in Victory with her pom poms on."
"What?" Heather gaped. "I was the one who suggested we fill that hole!"
"Lindsay was the one who actually plugged in the hole," Chris said. "As a reward, she'll get to decide the order of who goes first to last at the next challenge!"
"I got it," Lindsay exclaimed. "The order is me, Courtney, Shawn, and Heather."
Confessional: Lindsay
"I don't know what the next part of the challenge is," Lindsay confessed, "but making sure Heather participates last was just too good to pass up."
Confessional Ends

(Commercial break)
\
The footage cut forward to a shot of the sun over a few of the film lot's fake buildings near one of the studios. The wind was shown blowing a few pieces of paper along the road between the studios, then the shot cut to and upward pan of the fake hill. The camera cut back to the front of a studio as its garage-like door began to open.
A few feet were briefly shown behind the door before the camera moved inside, showing the silhouettes of the four castmates against the light flooding in from outside. The feet were shown again in an angled profile as they began to walk outside, and the shot moved up to show the four staring forward. Lindsay was first, then Shawn, then Courtney, then Heather.
The camera switched to a face-on shot, panning right across the castmates and stopping at Lindsay. A record scratch was heard as Chris ran across the shot with a scowl on his face, the teens following him with their eyes.
"Enough messing around," Chris said before the scene changed to the usual side-view as he addressed the contestants. "Alright gang, if you thought spending the night in zero G's was a stomach-churning experience, then you're gonna love this next challenge! Who can last the longest on the G-force Trainer?" The castmates were shown watching cautiously. "Or as I like to call it," Chris said before the shot quick-panned further to the right, "The Vomit Comet!" The machine he was referring to looked like a bulbous, oversized, and legless space suit attached by a hefty arm to a smaller wheeled cart.
"If you thought you were under pressure before," the host said giddily as the camera panned up a close-up of the suit, "wait 'til you feel the effects of four times Earth's gravitational force!"
"We just ate chili for lunch," Heather said. "This won't be good."
"That was a bad call," Lindsay agreed.
The shot quick-panned over to Chef Hatchet who was standing by a bubbling pot on a small table. "Plenty more where that came from," he told the camera while tapping the side of the pot with a ladle. The camera zoomed in for a close-up, showing a foul-looking vomit-green stew filled with a variety of bones, old socks, and octopus tentacles.
The focus moved back to Chris. "Remember crew, Lindsay's already picked the order, so she's up first."
"Wonderful," Lindsay said with a smile as she approached the machine. "I didn't know we were gonna barf inside this thing, but now that I know the order and I'm going first, I don't have to worry about getting covered in other people's barf."
Courtney quickly grew uncomfortable. "Uh, what's the order she picked for us."
Chris donned a villainous sneer. "You're not going to like this. After Lindsay goes Courtney, Shawn, and last but not least, Heather."
"WHAT!!??" Heather screeched. "Can I trade places with someone?"
"Too late," Chris said. "The order is set."
Heather shot daggers at Lindsay, who smiled innocently and shrugged in response.
Confessional: Lindsay
Lindsay was shown laughing to herself for a couple of seconds. "It's going to take a long time for her to wash the puke off!" She resumed her laughter.
Confessional: Heather
"When this is over, I'm going to kill Lindsay…" Heather shot the camera a deadly glare, "...right after I take a long shower!"
Confessionals End
The scene skipped to Lindsay as she was about to climb the G-force training suit. She looked over and said "This will almost be like the Hurlinator back at the carnival."
"But unlike that heap of junk, you’ll actually hurl inside that suit if you’re unlucky," Chris taunted.
Lindsay dropped into the suit and closed the helmet shut. "Have a nice spin, Lindsay!" Chris said with a wave before pressing the buttons on his stopwatch and remote control simultaneously.
The machine immediately started to move, and Lindsay began cheering out of fun and enjoyment. A bird's-eye view showed the arms rotating rapidly about the wheeled cart it was attached to. The camera cut to a close-up of the viewing window on the helmet, where the blonde's face could clearly be seen. Her happy expression changed to struggling to contain her vomit. She forced it down and exclaimed "Let me out!"
Chris obliged by pressing both buttons again, and the machine slowed to a stop. The helmet swung open and Lindsay pulled herself out. She was frazzled, but she didn’t throw up on herself.
"15.4 seconds!" Chris read off from his stopwatch with a grin. "Pretty impressive for a first run, and despite my theory, you did not hurl!"
"I did not want to smell bad," Lindsay groaned and fell over.
Confessional: Lindsay
"So I have this friend who ate twenty corn dogs as a dare," Lindsay confessed. "When we were inside the car, she started to throw up, and some of it got on us. I'm never eating a corn dog again."
Confessional Ends
"Alright Courtney, you're next," Chris told the control freak who approached him and the training suit. "Lindsay managed to keep her lunch down, so at least you'll have a dry run."
\
The scene flashed forward to Courtney in the suit, already looking nervous. "Let's get this over with," she said before the helmet swung down over her head.
Chris smiled and pressed the button on the remote control, and the camera switched over to the bird's-eye-view of the machine. The rotating arm rapidly built up speed, and unlike Lindsay before her, Courtney immediately screamed in terror. Another viewpoint change showed the panicking type-a through the helmet's viewing window, then back to the bird's-eye-view. The sound of vomiting was heard and the shot cut back to the host.
"27 seconds on the dot!" Chris announced.
"Am I in the lead?" a messy Courtney wondered after climbing out the suit.
"No," Chris answered. "I'm deducting ten seconds for puking."
"That was totally disgusting!" Courtney muttered. "I hope you can handle it, Shawn."
"I've dived through garbage and covered myself in fish guts once," Shawn shrugged her off. "This is nothing I can handle."
"I don't want to say it, but your determination is admirable," Courtney said.
"It's down to you two," Chris told Shawn and Heather. "Shawn, your slightly soiled chariot awaits."
\
"Ready or not, here I come," Shawn got in the suit.
"He's got high confidence," Chris told the camera. "Confidence that's going to disappear." The helmet closed, the buttons were pressed, and the machine began to spin.
The camera cut to the window of the helmet, showing Shawn screaming in panic. Sooner or later, ominous rumbling came from inside the suit and his cheeks bulged.
The scene cut back to Chris just as the sound of puke was heard, and the host stopped both watch and machine. "Whether Shawn will shower or not is up to him," Chris commented as the conspiracy nut exited the suit covered with vomit. "But he will definitely smell like his own lunch now. After the ten second deduction, he comes in at a grand total of 20 seconds."
"Thanks for choosing me to go last, Lindsay," Heather spat at her. "Two people threw up, and I have to be surrounded by their puke."
"Heather, you're the last one," Chris slyly said. "Unless you want to lose out on winning invincibility, I say you get inside the suit now."
Heather looked at the others and narrowed her eyes. "I'm not forfeiting."
Confessional: Heather
"The things I do to keep myself in the game," Heather rolled her eyes.
Confessional Ends
"This is so gross," Heather said in disgust as she got in the vomit-covered suit. "Start it already!" Heather yelled before slamming the helmet shut.
Chris pressed his two buttons. As with the others the camera switched first to a bird's-eye view of the machine as it began to move, then to a close-up of Heather's face through the helmet. Though she was wincing from the bits of vomit dripping down her face, she kept her determination still and wasn't about to quit.
The shot cut outside to the host and the other three castmates as they watched. Chris was focused on the stopwatch in his hands, Shawn was uninterested, Lindsay was nervous, and Courtney was scared.
"She's going longer than I thought she would," Chris said.
"Just barf already!" Courtney shouted.
The sound of vomiting was heard. The camera zoomed in on Chris again as a smile formed and he clicked his buttons, and the machine came to a stop. "That's time!" he called.
"Did I win?" Heather asked after swinging open the helmet and flopping over the side, vomit all over her head, chest, and mouth. "I know that was more than 27 seconds."
"35 and a half seconds! A new Vomit Comet record!" Chris told her.
"I know what this means," Heather grinned in victory.
"Since she lasted the longest inside that machine, I declare Heather the winner of today's challenge!" Chris announced.
"In your face, everyone!" Heather taunted the other three contestants.
"Can you mock us from far away?" Lindsay held her nose.
"We would like to be away from you," Courtney said.
"Never thought I'd say this, but I agree," Shawn stepped back. "You stink really bad, and I have horrible hygiene."
"That's just the smell of victory," Heather said.
A sudden whistle caught the group's attention, and they looked over to see Chef standing on a stepladder calmly slicing a carrot over the open suit. "Hope y'all like gumbo!" he told them before resuming his work.
The camera panned across the castmates and host as all wretched in sheerest disgust.
\
The scene flashed to Lindsay in the girls’ trailer alone. She had a pencil and paper and was seen writing on the paper but what it said was unknown.
"This should be about it," Lindsay said once she was finished.
She folded the paper hamburger style and left her trailer.
Confessional: Lindsay
"You're probably wondering what I'm doing," Lindsay said. "Courtney and Shawn can't stay mad at each other forever. They are a great duo, even if they're total opposites. This may cost me my spot in the game, but if it means repairing a friendship, I'll take that risk because friendship is magic and more important than money."
Confessional Ends
It was soon night time, and after focusing on the moon, the camera panned down to reveal that Shawn was standing near the tree he slept in.
"Lindsay said to meet here," Shawn said. "I don't know why, but I ain't gonna question her."
Soon Lindsay and Courtney both walked to the scene together and Lindsay smiled. "Good to have you both here."
Shawn was stunned to see Courtney. "Why is she here?"
"Why is he here?" Courtney asked in a startled tone.
"I brought you both here so you two could talk," Lindsay smiled brightly.
"I don't want to talk to a deadbeat survivor who can't act normal for more than a minute!" Courtney complained.
"I refuse to be with an uptight politician that thinks only about herself!" Shawn shot back.
"At least I have public decency!" Courtney shouted.
"At least I don't complain when things don't go my way!" Shawn yelled.
"SHUT UP!" Lindsay cried out furiously, earning her shocked looks from both Shawn and Courtney. "You two are clearly crushed and hurt over something really upsetting because if you were not, you wouldn’t be fighting! I’ve seen how close you both are, and I know that a small argument couldn’t be the reason you broke up." Courtney and Shawn's anger diminished as she spoke. "Something big happened but if I were to guess, Heather had something to do with it. Now please just tell each other what happened without screaming at each other!"
Shawn took a few deep breaths before speaking. "Last challenge, Heather told me about Courtney using me in order to make it to the finale."
"Why did you listen to her?" Courtney asked.
"She had a recording of you talking about it with your own voice," Shawn said.
"What exactly did the recording say?" Courtney demanded.
"Don't act so confused," Shawn said. "You said that working with me and Noah was practically torture for you and that you’ll be glad to ditch me once you claim the million!" he brought up angrily.
"If that's what you heard, then you're way wrong," Courtney glared. "I have a vivid memory, and I don't recall saying those things."
"But I heard your voice in the recording," Shawn raised an eyebrow, starting to rethink what he heard.
"I'm starting to think that someone impersonated Courtney's voice just to make her look bad," Lindsay chimed in.
"Shawn's a boy, and no way can you match my octaves, so that means Heather set me up!" Courtney grit her teeth.
Shawn then widened his eyes before groaning. "Your voices are pretty similar."
"See I told you. Heather caused a rift between you guys just like she did to me and Amy," Lindsay said.
"And I fell for her lie," Shawn admitted. "How stupid could I have been?"
Courtney’s gaze softened a bit before saying, "Well… you’re not the only one who’s fallen for it before."
"We've let her come this far," Lindsay continued. "And now that she has invincibility, we can't kick her out today. I just want you two to make up and vote together again."
Shawn and Courtney both turned to Lindsay and Shawn piped up, "But that means you’ll be on the chopping block."
"Friendship is worth more than a briefcase filled with dollars," Lindsay said. "Courtney, you can be really bossy. And Shawn, you can be really messy. But you've come this far. Don't break up your partnership just because of a mean girl."
Shawn looked at Courtney. "I shouldn't have let myself be tricked like that."
"I don't blame you," Courtney said. "I have been acting crazy the last few days. I just wanted to win."
"If I’ll be honest, I missed working with you. It’s not as fun working alone as it used to be once I started putting my faith in others," Shawn admitted.
"You want to patch up our alliance again?" Courtney held out her hand.
"Absolutely," Shawn shook her hand. "I won't let anything break us up again."
Lindsay watched the scene with happiness. "It's nice to see you two comfortable around each other. Jo and Brick are really lucky to be dating you two, if you're actually dating."
Confessional: Courtney
"That was really cool of Lindsay to patch up my friendship with Shawn," Courtney admitted. "I've been taking her for granted up until this point, and I won't think ill of her again."
Confessional Ends
[A grand theme played as the camera zoomed in on the amphitheatre. Several film strips of the host's highlights from the previous season flew past the screen, then the camera panned out from a solid gold screen to show a Gilded Chris.]
\
The camera flashed into a shot of the night sky. "And four," Chris said as the camera panned down to the amphitheater, "shall soon become three, as we bid farewell to another cast member. Everyone, cast your votes."
The shot cut to the cast members in the bleachers. Courtney and Shawn were on the top row and Heather and Lindsay on the bottom.
Courtney sighed before casting her vote.
Lindsay thought for a second before she made her vote.
Shawn shrugged and casted his vote.
Heather smirked deviously and then made her vote.
The scene flashed to a close-up of the three gilded statuettes on a tray held by Chef, who was wearing his formal pink gown once again.
"And the Gilded Chris goes to...," Chris began to read from his envelope, "Heather and Shawn," the two were shown catching their awards. Courtney and Lindsay were shown in a split screen and they both braced themselves.
"And the last statue goes to…" Chris said slowly as the music reached its peak, "No one yet!"
"What's going on?" Lindsay wondered.
"It seems we have a situation similar to episode fifteen," Chris told them. "Courtney and Lindsay got the most votes at two per contestant."
"Not again!" Courtney moaned.
"Is there going to be a tiebreaker?" Lindsay asked.
"You bet your boots there is," Chris said and turned to Chef. “Got any gumbo left?”
“Two pots full of it!” Chef cackled. “What do you want with it?”
“In order to stay in the game, Lindsay and Courtney have to eat a pot filled with Chef’s very own gumbo!” Chris declared to them.
“You do know that Chef made it with our own vomit!” Lindsay proclaimed.
“I know. That’s what makes it fun. For me!” Chris laughed.
“If I have to do this, then bring out the barf-bo,” Courtney shivered.
\
The scene switched to Courtney and Lindsay on the stage of the amphitheater. They were sitting on chairs while holding pots of gumbo and large spoons.
“Now remember,” Chris walked over to the two. “If you don’t finish your pot, you’re not going into the final two. Got it?”
“I did come this far,” Lindsay said.
“I’ll accept the challenge. I won’t give up when I’m this close to the finale,” Courtney said.
Heather and Shawn were watching from far away. “I’m rooting for you, Courtney!” the latter cheered.
“Whoever loses or wins, I don’t care,” Heather said.
"And… go!" Chris started the tiebreaker.
As soon as he said those words, Courtney and Lindsay began putting gumbo into their mouths. Courtney was rapidly scooping the meal while Lindsay was sipping on it. Both girls were repulsed, but they still wanted to be in the game.
Lindsay saw that Courtney was halfway done with her pot, so she started to follow her path and scoop up the gumbo in hopes of catching up to her.
Just when it seemed like Courtney was about to finish, her stomach started to grumble from what she'd eaten. She tried to fight it, but eventually, she puked inside of her pot.
Seeing that she had an opportunity to win, Lindsay opened her mouth widely and poured the gumbo in. Afterwards, she placed her pot down.
"I'm finished!" she declared, only to feel nauseous and barf into her pot.
"Man, you girls are sick!" Chris teased them. "Regardless, Lindsay's still in the game, and Courtney just went from 22nd to 4th place in two seasons!"
"Drats!" Shawn complained.
Both girls have finished throwing up. "Looks like you have to go," Lindsay told Courtney.
"I know," Courtney moped. "I almost got to the million dollars, and I've never been in 4th place before."
"At least you did much better than before, and you're not wearing a chicken hat this time," Shawn said.
Courtney smiled in response. "I wanted to win the season, but I did learn to value friendship and cooperation, and like Lindsay said, those are more worthy than cash."
"I'm just glad you're not being mean to me for once," Lindsay said.
"We'll take down Heather and be the final two," Shawn said. "We promised Noah, and we're also promising you as well."
"Not sorry to interrupt," Chris got between them, "but Courtney should be getting going right about now."
"Shove it, McLean!" Courtney shoved Chris to the floor with one hand. "I'm saying goodbye to my friends, but I will enter the Lame-osine soon."
\
The footage skipped ahead to Courtney standing near the limo. She saw Lindsay and Shawn waving goodbye to her. After returning the gesture, she entered the limo with a smile on her face. The limo's tires revved up and sped off into the night, leaving behind two trails of fire.
Just as Shawn and Lindsay were about to go to their trailer, they were stopped by a snobby voice.
"Love to stick around, but it's been a long day and I'm gonna hit the showers," Heather bragged and got off the stage. "Great work, everybody."
While Lindsay rolled her eyes and left, Shawn stayed back, but had a face filled with anger and vengeance.
\
The scene cut to a shot of the washroom. Inside, Heather was bathing herself and humming a tune.
Unbeknownst to her, Shawn snuck to the side of the bathroom. He had a barrel filled with gumbo with him. After placing it down, he hooked the shower pipe to the barrel, wrapped it with tape, and turned the wheel to let the gumbo flow through.
Heather was heard screaming once the gumbo rained on her. "What the... Ew! Ugh, oh! Is this sewage?! Stop it! Stop! Oh! No!"
Seeing that his job was done, Shawn laughed to himself and turned in for the night as Heather continued to scream in anguish.
Chris popped up into the camera's view. "And you'll see how our remaining contestants suffer next time on Total Drama Action!"

(Bonus Clip)
"I want Shawn to win Season 2, but I won't mind if Lindsay does the job for him," Courtney said inside the limo. "She's pretty capable of handling herself, and I did hear about her plan to become the Queen of France, which I kinda want to see come to fruition." The C.I.T. laughed for a few seconds. "I know my parents want me to succeed and thrive for victory, but I'm certain that they'll see how far I've gotten in the competition and be proud of it. That's not to say I won't quit trying. I just have to never give up."

2023.03.24 22:43 RedLabelIB How do I support a girl I’ve been seeing with bipolar?
Hey. A girl I’ve been seeing for about a year and a half told me at the start that she has bipolar. She disappears until she feels better. She did this when we first started talking but over the last year and a half she’s actually been okay. She’s had episodes of being down/low but she hasn’t disappeared. A few weeks ago she just suddenly went silent. I sent her a few messages and she read them but didn’t reply. Then in the evening she messaged me and basically ended things between us because she didn’t want me to have to deal with her issues. We spoke a little bit and I told her I wasn’t going anywhere - and things got better and back to normal. I support her with eating healthy, going to the gym etc and when she’s doing these healthy habits she feels great. About a week ago, she went a little quiet. I was trying to figure out what she needed - she said she’d be alright she just wasn’t feeling herself. And then a couple of days ago she went silent again. I thought she’d just had a hectic day at work. I tried to call her but she didn’t answer. Then she messaged me and told me she was on the phone to her friend. I felt a bit upset that she didn’t want to talk to me, but would talk to her friend who she says drains her etc. I sent her a message before I went to sleep and she read it and ignored it. I hoped she’d have sent me a goodnight or a good morning to let me know we are still good… but nothing. I went to work and was hoping she’d contact me, but nothing. This is where I messed up. I thought she was just blatantly ignoring me and wasn’t interested in me anymore so I messaged her basically telling her that. We then got into a bit of an argument and I feel I probably made her feel even worse. I have apologised to her and I sent her a good morning today and she said it back. I’ve left her alone today as i messed up yesterday. I just went on my phone to message her to say goodnight and realised I was blocked. Felt like a kick in the stomach. I sent her an email asking why she’s blocked me and she said she has to disappear for a bit and she’s sorry.
There’s much more to this, I don’t see her very often due to our busy lives but we usually talk on the phone and text every day. Last time she went silent she told me she would try not to do that again and said she struggles to open up.
She will not take medication or go to therapy.
Any advice on how I can support her? I love her and I don’t want to keep messing up.

2023.03.24 22:38 priyalkiaraa My Mom Is A Cheater (18F)
What i am sharing today is something i have never shared with anybody else before. Not fluent in english so bare with me :)
My parents had an arranged marriage, they did not hate each other but when i think about my childhood i can only remember them fighting. My dad was never abusive in any way, not verbally or physically; they fought on stupid things everyday but just screamed their guts out at each other (without abusing). He has extreme anger issues and would always end up making my mom cry. They had a typical relationship. They often made love to each other every night and still fought everyday.
Hearing them fight would always make me upset and cry my eyes out but at night when i heard them having sex, it made me feel good that even after all this fighting, they at least love each other and wont get a divorce. I never wanted my parents to split up.
When i was 12 years old at the night of my parents anniversary my parents went out for dinner and left me at home because i was grounded for scoring less marks, they had taken away my phone from me. I knew they hid my phone somewhere in their room so as soon as they left i locked the house from the inside and started searching for it.
While searching for my phone, i found some other phone i had never seen before in my mom's drawer. I never knew my mom kept two phones, so i decided to take a look at it and what i found blew my mind.
So apparently, my parents were swinger couples, they had at least a thousand pics with other couples. Every pic and video of their time with other couples were stored neatly organised in the drive and she had 2 gmail ids which were full of this stuff. I remember them having an app called "mewe" where they met other couple and decided to meet or have fun on cam(skype calls).
Well this maybe normal i don't know but i was pretty young back then and did not have any idea what to do. I couldn't think anything i should have just stopped scrolling through her phone right away but i didn't and i regret it soo much because the next thing what i found absolutely destroyed my childhood and it was never the same again for me.
I read her whatsapp chats next, and i found out my mom has been having sexual intercourse with one of my dad's friend. I read her sexting and saw her nudes which she had sent him. Now you maybe thinking that what's the problem here my mom probably has had sex with many other guys anyways right? but no this was different. She was not just having casual sex with other couple in front of my dad with his consent, she was cheating on him and fucking his friend behind his back.
In the chats my mom used to tell his friend to come home in the morning when my dad left at work and i was asleep. She would talk shit about my dad and they both abused and made fun of him, reading that absolutely broke me. I loved my mom soo much and she was my favourite person but in couple of minutes everything changed i could never imagine her doing this to my dad. She would lock my room every morning from the outside when my dad left for work and called his friend over. And she was doing this for soo long i had no idea. When i read her chats and found out about it, i woke up in the morning, i heard my dad leave and later from my room's window i saw his friend entering the house, i heard my mom locking my room from the outside, i cried silently knowing my mom would hear me if i make noise.
I would have been okay with it and ignored it if my dad knew about it and he was okay with it too, but he didn't. My dad never cheated on my mom i can say for sure because i know him and i love him a lot
I had absolutely no one i could talk to about this. I had no idea what to do. I thought a lot about telling my dad even tough i knew this would result in the end of my parents marriage. But i just couldn't, maybe i am just a fucking coward.
Days went by and i just kept thinking what i should do and eventually i did nothing for an year. During that time he started visiting us frequently, became close friend of my dad, i absolutely hated that asshole, he even tried to touch me once, i used to stay away from him. Just by hearing his name i would get tears in my eyes thinking about everything.
But after an year, things changed, i hear news, he has lung cancer and 3 more deadly diseases i dont even remember the name, he had dialysis.
Everybody knew he wasn't going to survive. His family and our family were really close and during the time he was admitted in hospital for 4 months, our family spent time together and me a 13 year old girl was happy to see him die. I watched his family cry everyday and that would make me soo happy.
He died a horrible death, he gained 30 kgs then lost 60 kgs all within 4 months. His face couldn't be recognized by his own family when he passed away.
I absolutely loved every day hearing his condition getting worse. i was praying for his death. On his funeral i did not shed a tear, i was home alone watching web series.
Well to this day now, i haven't told my dad about my mom, or ever confronted my mom about it. She has no idea that i know and probably thinks that i love her. i wish i had told my dad everything, i wish my parents had seperated already because my dad deserves a loyal women.
I absolutely hate my mom for cheating on my dad. Sometimes i wonder if i'll cry on my mom's funeral too. My feelings for her died at a pretty early age.
I wish i had a normal childhood like most of the people do but i'm not normal anymore. I haven't felt normal since a very long time and i blame my mom for it.
As of now they dont fight anymore but they dont have sex anymore either. Their relationship has improved a lot. My dad has become a lot more calm now. they love each other i guess...
Only reason i could post all this was because this is my throw away account and nobody would know who i really am. I still can't share this stuff with anybody that i know
Thanks for reading if you made it this far :D

2023.03.24 22:37 Badger411 Should I simply stop talking?
I joined a Reddit chat group about a month ago. I was talking about my family relationships, my wife, our money problems, dead bedroom, why we can’t divorce, etc. A couple of the people engaged and were giving advice that is valid but not possible in my situation. I was talking about it again today. The mod told me that if I wasn’t going to take their advice, they weren’t interested in hearing me “wallow.” He’s known me online for a month.
My therapist is basically saying the same thing. That after 3 years of discussing the same problems I should have them solved. She gave me the same advice she always does and I told her why it wasn’t realistic to act on it at this time. She told me that everyone has choices and I CHOOSE not to take her advice and I CHOOSE to stay in a bad marriage. That I will never get better because I CHOOSE not to get better. I am calling on Monday to cancel my remaining appointments with her.
Should I simply remain silent in the future and bottle everything up until I die? My remaining family barely contacts me, I have no friends IRL, and my wife completely ignores me. My 17-year-old is my only contact, and I fear that I have parentified her just as my mother did to me. She told me today she has known since she was 11 that she knows her parents hate each other.
