I got a couple questions I really need help I got a notice that I have to vacate for non-payment of rent utilities or other sums I have to move out by April 7th and it was unconditional I ended up paying my late rent and fees for the late rent they emailed me saying I do not have to move out but they won't give me a letter stating that do I need to move out or am I okay I am in Houston Texas

So, for some background, we have been together for nearly 3 years now. I was living alone in my apartment at the time we got together, but he moved in fairly quickly in the beginning. There have been financial issues due to covid, so we ended up losing the apartment to move back into his family's home.
Now, for a small portion of time I was not working, and he took up some of the responsibilities. But as our relationship has gone on, I've realized he expects things from me that he would flat out refuse to do for me himself. He, during my period of unemployment (roughly 5 months, 2 months into which he also became unemployed) would not help me pay my car insurance, my electricity, my phone, car payment, or my rent. It built up and we lost the apartment. I admit I am leaving out some context, and yes part of these losses is my own fault for not being financially literate enough to save money for these types of scenarios. They are not his responsibility to bear necessarily, but that's where some of the resentment between us has come from. Once I began working again, I have been paying for every single thing. All the food. Our recreational activities. the insurance on three vehicles. The payments on one. I even give him money to go get beer and gas to hang out with his friends. for almost 2 years now. I pay for his drinks and food when he comes into my work. I have worked full time and went back to school for a bachelors online. I bought him a motorcycle. I pour my heart and soul into this. he even uses language like "we" when hes telling ME i need to pay the car payment. but "we" is nowhere to be found when I have a surprise bill or emergency. (I own my vehicle so no payments for me) I know I have listed out the things that involve money, but that is not why I am worried about our relationship.
He treats me, like he cannot stand me. I can be loud, I like video games and anime, and I get a little heated about internet drama. I am very much a homebody. I used to be extremely social, but since I've gone back to school and gained 30 pounds I really only exchange memes with friends and have one single girl friend that I see probably 4 times a year. I try to have conversations with him, but he acts like he can't stand the sound of my voice. He will roll his eyes or ignore me while he scrolls on his phone. Sometimes, he will even shut me down, not by saying anything directly but through tone of voice, like when you say "i know" to stop somebody from explaining. all the time. It's become so distressing for me that I've just decided it's best not to engage. However, when I do this, he is suddenly interested in how I am feeling, asking if something is wrong. I have several times tried to communicate that he makes me feel as if he views me as annoying or intellectually inferior, which bothers me immensely as I have been attending school for a psychology degree. So the idea that i cannot communicate properly really sticks with me. The problem is, when I converse with others outside of my home (I am a bartender) people seem readily engaged in conversations about anything and everything. I just don't understand what I can do to reconnect with my boyfriend. even when he is happily describing his day or a moto ride he went on, as soon as I speak, he shuts the conversation down. and gets back on his phone. It HURTS girl. I have tried numerous times to converse about his interests. Make the same jokes he does to me back to him. I want him to laugh and smile at me. But he really just seems to glare. I have tried to break it off with him a couple of times, but each time he profusely admits an undying love for me and begs me not to go. I stay because I love him, and I have never had anyone who understood my traumatic childhood like he does (he had one as well). But I just do not feel emotionally or intellectually stimulated. To me, at this point in my life, Intimacy is something more than just intercourse.
As for my own problems, I have changed immensely since we met. I have taken up weightlifting, went back to college, etc. I am trying to lose weight and slim down, but I am worried that even if I improve my appearance, that he still will not respect my mind (I am not obese, just a little muffin). Today, before I wrote this, we had a small disagreement because he described somebody who was displaying repetitive movement as psychosis, to which I responded that it didn't sound like psychosis. His response was "you have no idea what you're talking about." I am literally 2 years into an associate degree on track for a four-year degree in psychology. The majority of my electives have been 200 psychology, sociology, and personality courses. I have worked late into the evening to get up at 6 am for schoolwork for months on end. I guess the point of this mini rant is to flesh out my feeling but also get advice. At one point we had talked about children and buying a house. Now when I try to bring it up, he acts like there's no point in talking about it, because it won't happen now. I want to travel to Europe, he shrugs it off as an unattainable goal. I want to vacation at the beach, he doesn't want to drive. He recently got a job last week, and since he started has been acting especially superior to me. The other day he told me I should keep track of my money because he wasn't going to "pay for a bunch of random stuff", meaning food and gas for me. I was taken aback and questioned why he would make a comment like that. I could not believe after years of me selflessly spending money so he could live comfortably at home (and ride motorcycles and go out a lot, leaving me at home much of last summer) that he would say something like that to me. It made me realize that the relationship as it is, is not the relationship I want in 10 years, five years, heck even next year. I realized that he invests a bare minimum effort but is overtly upset when he does not receive top of the line treatment. I will share a bit and say that I assume this is because of his childhood, his mom is not a great lady. But I digress, I don't think that is an excuse to treat the people who spoil you poorly.
My question for reddit is, Is there anything to stop this ship from sinking? Is there a perspective I maybe just can't see from my position? Should we go to couples therapy?
At the end of the day, I am dating for marriage. I don't want children right now; I want to party and travel and work for the rest of my twenties. But this time living together has made me feel trapped in a relationship where I am simultaneously the problem and the person trying to fix the problem and I'm incredibly exhausted. How can this be love?
(P.s: I am not in a position to move out immediately. I personally have a dog and cat here, and my car in its current state cannot be registered so I can't just up and leave. I have invested a ton into this relationship, to the point where I do not have savings.)

Gen-Z Graduates Stare Down Their First Student Loan Payments

• Three years after the pandemic-era freeze was introduced, millions of recent graduates have yet to see a student loan bill.

Millions of students graduated during the pandemic with student debt. They have yet to make a single payment.
The moratorium on federal student loan payments, which began three years ago this month, has given recent graduates the financial freedom to pay down debt, boost their credit scores and simply cover everyday expenses at a time of high inflation and economic uncertainty. All that is set to change soon, with payments scheduled to resume later this year.
The restart is likely to be a jolt for nearly everyone with federal student loans (private loans weren’t part of the pause), but perhaps no cohort will feel it quite like Generation Freeze, which has never had to budget for it. That’s likely to slow consumer spending and hurt the economy, according to a recent report from financial services firm Jefferies.“
The loans being paused was great because I paid the minimum for my private loans and that was it,” said Alix Chronister, a 24-year-old in Kansas City, Missouri. “If I had had to pay on my federal loans, my financial situation would have been a lot more stressful.”

End of an Era

The first 60-day repayment pause was issued by President Donald Trump on March 20, 2020, when the onset of the pandemic sent the economy into a tailspin. Three years, multiple extensions and one presidential administration later, the freeze is still in place and about 11 million people have since completed undergraduate degrees. Of those, an estimated 70% leave college with student debt.
But the freeze era is drawing to a close. President Joe Biden said in late November that payments will resume 60 days after the Supreme Court rules on his one-time forgiveness program or June 30, whichever comes first. That puts the restart date at no later than Aug. 29, and the first monthly installment would be due by the end of September.
For Chronister, that means a big financial adjustment is coming. She graduated in 2021 with $38,000 in private and federal loans and currently works as a chemist in a research facility. She has prioritized paying off the private loans, which make up $8,000 of her total balance.
The freeze was particularly useful because she was making $15 an hour at her first post-collegiate job, amounting to about $30,000 a year.
She’s eligible for $20,000 in forgiveness if the Supreme Court rules in favor of Biden’s plan — but she’s not holding her breath.“I think I’m really lucky to have had the pause, and it definitely benefited me and people who graduated around the same time,” she said. “We’ve had a chance to get our careers situated before worrying about paying.”
The average monthly payment before the pandemic pause was $393, according to the Federal Reserve. About 20 million borrowers were actively paying down their debt, while others were in default or had their payments deferred due to hardship or forbearance.
Depending on a borrower’s personal financial situation, the return of student loan bills won’t be like flicking an immediate “on” switch. Travis Hornsby, founder of financial service website Student Loan Planner, can see a case where some borrowers might not be expected to pay for another year or two based on their income. New rules for income-driven repayment plans would also widen the net for those who may qualify for a $0 monthly bill, and cap payments at no more than 5% of discretionary income for others.“
Compared to what payments used to be, a lot of people are going to be very much eased into repayment,” said Hornsby. That would help not only fresh college grads, but single parents and others who were previously at risk of default. “The freeze is sort of being thawed.”

Looming Bills

The freeze means many recent graduates have never had to factor federal student loan repayments into their monthly budgets, a helpful absence as prices rise for everything from eggs to rent. In a recent survey by personal-finance company Credit Karma , 26% of borrowers said they hadn’t saved any money during the freeze because they were prioritizing everyday expenses. Almost 70% said their financial situation was stagnant or declined in 2022.
For Madison Sasser in Tampa, Florida, the freeze gave her time to figure out her career trajectory without having to worry about an additional monthly bill. The 24-year-old graduated from the University of South Florida in December 2020 with $15,000 in student debt.
She initially wanted to go to law school but decided it was too expensive. Now, she’s working on building a career as a writer while waiting tables at a restaurant during the day, and makes about $38,000 a year.
The return of monthly payments is going to significantly strain her budget, she said, especially due to the high rents in Tampa.
The average starting salary for a member of the class of 2021 is $55,911, according to a July 2022 analysis by the National Association of Colleges and Employers. For young people who live in big cities and lack the financial and career flexibility to move to places with lower costs of living, those early salaries may not stretch very far.
Matthew Sánchez, a 23-year-old compliance officer who lives in Long Island, New York, says having to repay his loans will be stressful.
“For me personally, I can probably make do and adjust,” he said, though he expects he’ll have to delay a move to Maryland, which he’s trying to plan because it’s more affordable.
He’s bracing for a monthly payment of $300 on $27,000 in federal loans. He knows he’s on the luckier side: “I’m always thinking about how this affects my demographic, broadly speaking. I can see the frustration people have.”

It's not a mental health problem, and its only temporary. We had to scramble to get a new car after our old one kicked the bucket, and the downpayment took a massive chunk of financial security away with it. We had about 1,300 saved for emergencies, which took almost two years because of how little me and my spouse makes, and all of that had to go towards the vehicle, not counting the sales and registration tax that we had to save for, which is taking four paychecks to cover since we still have rent and other bills. It will take us even longer to gain back any savings, because we now have a car payment we didn't have at the time.
In short, money is tight, and will be tight for a few more months. We are keeping food in the house, barely. I do all of the cooking, so I manage the portions. We have two kids so even though its not a lot of mouths to feed, they are growing and I refuse to cut down on what they are able to eat. I'm losing weight, and have started altering my clothes so nobody notices them fitting differently. I was raised in a religion that required fasting, so I'm using tricks like drinking supplements and eating peanut butter or oatmeal to keep my protein and calories up. I'd rather it be me than anyone else, I'm used to it. It's making me a little tired and irritable, so I've been doubling down on how many hours I work (I don't make overtime though, only comp time) so I'm not at home and my family doesn't have to see me be like that. I'm saving my comp time so I can take a few days off when things start getting better and spend them catching up with everyone.
But lately its gotten harder, I've pretty much been hungry for a solid two months now, only eating to keep my blood sugar up, and make sure I sit down for dinner with my family after work. I ended up taking a sizeable box of granola bars from where I work. I feel horrible about it, but I know I don't really have a whole lot of other options. I don't know who they belonged to. i used to steal hygiene stuff, clothing, food, or stuff to sell when I was younger because I was homeless in a transitional living program, so its not like I'm gonna get caught.
Idk why I'm saying all this, I guess I'm just tired of being the only person who knows whats going on. I'm excited for things to start looking better here in a bit, maybe having this to look back on will be a source of encourgement later, idk

Im (15M) am depressed, lonely w/o any friends and abused, let me explain, 2019 was probably the last good yr of my life, 2020 was the year i would leave primary school (or Elementary school) I had many friends and I was still happy, i had to do a test to pass for a high school, my parents took this test seriously, and with that being said, they punched and beat me till my nose bled for making 1 simple mistake in practice tests at home.
A few weeks later i did the test and place in the top 100 in my country, they were proud but after that would come the worst yrs of my life, fast forward to late 2020 which was when i was supposed to go to school, however covid put us in lockdown and did online school till abt 2022 in 7th-9th grade. Now around now real school opened again but i realised, (idk why it took me so long) that after a few weeks i was still at home, confused I asked my step dad (42M) and he threatened to beat me up if I questioned it, months go by, the little friends i made from the online school period messaged me via gmail because I dont own a phone, they were asking why was I not showing up to school, but my mother forced me to block them all.
Now we jump to the current in 2023, im still at home doing online classes which im bad in bc i learn better in person and they chastise me and call me names. I try to tell them how I feel but it always ends up south, yesterday my step dad slapped the living daylights outta me and kicked me on the floor multiple times, and now im getting a short term job soon and they want $1000 rent each month or they'll kick me out, they also say that 1k is "payment for taking care of me",I cant take this anymore, my life is a living hell, just had to get it all out bc i have no one,I have 0 privacy, and my parents always say since im a child im basically not worth anything, id like someone to talk too please thank you all.

• Leon Sinks: First Saturday Hike. If it is the first Saturday of the month, it is time for a hike at Leon Sinks! We will meet at 10 am in the parking lot and hike the trail together to see the beautiful geological features of the area while walking on wooded hiking trails. Right off US 319 south of Tallahassee, the Leon Sinks Geological Area contains 5 miles of trails leading to a series of sinkholes big and small. The land in this area is underlain by a layer of limestone, eroded and dissolved by rainwater and groundwater to form caverns, holes, and tunnels. This type of terrain is called "karst" and results in many geological features such as wet sinkholes, depressions, natural bridges and a disappearing stream. The hikers can either hike the 3.6-mile Sinkhole Trail to view the numerous sinkholes and geological features, or the 2.8-mile Gum Swamp Trail around a cypress and gum swamp. We recommend wear hiking shoes and bring a water bottle, and consider bug spray or long pants/sleeves. 10am

Long story short, last year my bank's auto bill pay broke because of an update and I missed almost two months of my internet and rent payments.
I was on holiday for a period and all my mail was misplaced (it overflew so the super took it somewhere safe but also went on vacation) so I didn't realize until some time had passed. It wasn't until I noticed a letter threatening to proceed with starting legal eviction and that my scheduled payments had been drawn but unsent, so it looked like I was paying everything as usual on my end.
Most recently this year, I forgot to update the CC on my Spectrum account after I got it replaced and I only realized after I got a robocall about my service being disrupted/interrupted in about two weeks because of a missing payment. I didn't notice for this one because they honestly send so much spam to me and previous residents of my same address.
Will any of these harm my credit score? I have otherwise paid everything on time.

I’ll go first…..
Normally, I’ll take the E train to Penn for $2.75. But lately, I hop on the LIRR for $5.00 at Forest Hills which will take about 10-15m to Penn Station, express.
Then, on my way back to Forest Hills, I avoid the E train during rush hour and take an F-train at the nearest subway stop — for me that’d be a nice walk to 30 Rockefeller Center (not a long walk for me).
Instead of living through a delayed train underground nightmare, the F-train (as of lately) appear to be receiving priority treatment, and is not delayed as much as the E train can be.

Short on money due to a series of unfortunate circumstances snowballing together.

• Started in January when my girlfriend's bank got hacked and the hacker disputed the $500 she sent me for rent on Venmo. (The $500 still is caught up in disputes and support's only answer is to keep waiting).
• Unexpected phone and car repairs.
• Rent was going to go up 30% so we had no choice but to move out - the only option in our budget that wouldn't require us to move an hour away only had an opening a month before move out date, so we basically had to pay two rents for the month of March. We got through this through use of payday loans, but I am no longer being accepted for payday loans due to the ones I already have.
• Most of my paycheck is now going towards the loans. I would like to consolidate the loans in the future but I don't get approved for "real" loans through banks due to my short credit history and current loans. (I am in my early 20s and only started building credit a couple years ago.)
• It has been slow at my work lately, meaning I receive less tips and less hours due to going home early (service/beauty industry). My paycheck yesterday was 400 less than usual.

Sorry if this comes across as venting, just want to share how absolutely down on my luck I've been this year and hoping someone might empathize.
We are moving this weekend. Lease ends on the 7th so our prorated partial rent for our current place is around $350 plus the rent for the new place. I also came home yesterday to the electricity being out for nonpayment (you can see why I haven't had the funds), I am out $255 from my already small paycheck for turning it back on.
Once we move and are no longer dealing with the cost of two apartments we will have so much more leeway with money and can work on repaying everything. I just need to get past rent, moving fees, and the late fees on my loan. With my budget after we move I can do $250 every two weeks ending in a total of $1500, or we can do two payments of $750 and $750. This would put the final payment date at mid June. Repayment may come sooner if Venmo gets around to refunding me.

I was wondering if anyone can help me in regards to Everyday Loans. I had a loan from EL around 5 years ago when I was in my early 20s with a ridiculous APR. I’ve just received a letter from Everyday Loans (NSFGROUP) regarding a potential court settlement in regards to unaffordable loans.
Can I apply for a review on the loan? The APR was about 80% and I was only earning around £1100 a month. I have emails with screenshots of bank statements and me specifically saying I’m in my unused overdraft.
I’m in my late 20s now and have a decent job and hopefully ready to buy a house at the end of the year. Admitally it was my decision to take the loan but looking back now it should have been declined as I obviously could not afford it.
I would appreciate any help. I want to clarify that I know it was my fault however surely EL have a duty of care not to give such loan to a uni student

My partner (ENTP) and I (ENFJ) are in our late 20’s and are discussing whether we want to have children in the next 5-10 years. We are open minded about having and not having children as we know several people who have actively decided against it and remain happy with their decision.
We work in tech/ HR in well paid roles and are experienced with the recent layoffs. Although both of us are employed and don’t expect to be laid off, we do expect in the next few years more layoffs will continue globally and it worries us about whether it’s a smart idea to bring children into the picture.
Seeing that inflation continues to rise and there is the potential of becoming unemployed/ employable but no longer in high paying jobs, we worry about the potential financial burden and stress that it could bring to our relationship. Building a family in this era may no longer be as a reasonable idea as it once was many years ago when 1 persons salary was enough to afford a mortgage and provide for the family.
Have any of you decided not to have children and what has your experience been? Or have any of you recently had children and what are your perspectives of raising children in todays society where it will continue to be harder for them to find to be financially stable and find fulfilling work?
A part of me wants to build a family but am also open minded that I can satisfy this need in other ways such as fostering etc.

Been paying a lot of medical bills lately. Some are paid in full and others are on payment plans. Either way, I pay my cards off each month with the exception of CareCredit which I pay off before the promotion time ends.
I have a $3,690 up front medical expense coming up which I know may open up some bonus rewards if I open a new card. The other $3,690 I will pay in monthly installments over a year. I have the money in savings so I would pay it off after it posted. Mostly I’m just wondering if there’s another card I could add that would give me more rewards since medical stuff is my largest spending category. Does shipping delay happen for pre-orders a lot or it's just occasional? My last pre-order for Crown Zenith ETB was shipped a week early from the official release date and I got my ETB on the release date. However, I made two pre-orders for Scarlet and Violet products from Pokemon Center online in mid and late January, and their payment did show up on my credit card as pending last week. Top two Deirdre and Becky were always hammering the others, and struggling between themselves to win big. Both actually topped the board at different points of voting. But just as it looked like Becky had it in the bag and was home and dry first, as voting reached the halfway mark, Deirdre came back from behind and took Becky down. Becky’s cause wasn’t helped by a rise up the ranks from Karen halfway through, who had been a really slow mover at first. And fellow legend Betty slunk into fourth, after also having a really slow start. Corey became the only male to make it, in the final place, where he easily beat off the others. This means Angela will have to fight hard to join her kids in round 2, as she’s the 11th wildcard. For the first time ever, two contenders failed to score at all, as Ben and Ronnie both join Jodie Morton in the no scorers club, and it’s not just them who are eliminated, Joe and Molly are eliminated too
