2023.03.30 20:45 itsemiloveyou Trip Report: 13 days with 5 adults and 2 kids in Niigata, Shizuoka, Suzuka and Tokyo

Just got back from a 13 day trip to Japan with my family (husband, son (6), daughter (4), mother, father and grandmother). This was not our first trip to Japan; my son has now been 3 times and my parents have also both visited previously. My husband and I met in Japan and lived there for 4 years, so we speak/read Japanese pretty well. My grandmother is Japanese, so part of the trip was really to see family more than sight see. Also, given we were traveling with young children and an elderly person, we were slowed down a lot and didn't accomplish as many things as I planned.
Day 1 - We arrived in Narita late Sunday afternoon and it was a mess. Despite having all the Visit Japan Web QR codes and vaccination status ready, we lined up at immigration for 2+ hours. Most people seemed to have also done QR codes, so that didn’t seem to be the issue. Part of it could have been the immigration agents clocking off at exactly 6, so there were less people to process the line. Thankfully we had decided to stay near the airport at the Narita Tobu Hotel and did not have to rush to catch any trains that evening. There is a convenient shuttle that takes you to the hotel from the airport. The hotel is dated, but it was fine for 1 night.
Day 2 – Went back to the airport to pick up our pocket Wifi that I forgot to pick up the night before. We used Sakura Mobile and picked up at the JAL ABC Counter. There was some confusion about the pick up since I should have picked it up on Sunday night, but it worked out in the end. We also used JAL ABC to send some luggage forward to a relative’s house. Be sure to know the phone number of the delivery address otherwise they will not forward your luggage. We picked up and activated our JR passes (7-day) at the airport station and took the NEX to Tokyo, then took the Joetsu Shinkansen towards Niigata City. We stopped at Echigo-Yuzawa station to have lunch, see the snow and dip our feet in the ashiyu (footbath) outside the station. We had my daughter’s first encounter with an Eastern style toilet and let’s just say that unlocked a new potty fear. There is a shopping and restaurant area right outside the station with lots of space for you to store your luggage while you eat. After lunch we hopped back on the shinkansen to Tsubame-Sanjou station and checked into a Toyoko Inn. It was a newer building and we were able to book 3 double bed rooms for all of us that were very spacious.
Day 3 – The boys and I taxied to the Tsubame City Industrial Materials Museum. On the way, the taxi driver started taking us the wrong way, so when my husband asked about it, we found out that he was mistakenly taking us to a (way cooler) knife making experience. Unfortunately, we did not have reservations for this, so we just turned around and headed back to the museum. I wanted to visit this museum because they have a workshop where you can hammer a coppetin cup or dish and also colooxidize a titanium spoon (thrilling, I know) but it was super fun and we have some unique souvenirs. Then off to Niigata station via shinkansen (thanks, JR pass!) to have lunch and then go to the Niigata City Aquarium. The museum specializes in aquatic creatures in the Sea of Japan and was really fun - we even got to see the dolphin show! After walking across the street to see the beach and see the Sea of Japan, we headed back towards the city center via the Niigata City Loop bus. It was teeny tiny and absolutely packed with people. We got off at Pier Bandai to go shopping and eat, but the restaurant buidling was closed on Tuesdays. We failed to wave down a taxi so my poor 90 year old grandmother had to walk back to the station. We had dinner at a family friendly izakaya, did sake tastings at the ponshukan in the station and then headed back to our hotel.
Day 4 – The taxi driver from the previous morning told us about a local store that sells cheap merchandise including local knives, so we split up into knife buyers and McDonald’s eaters. We learned from our taxi mistake and had the hotel call us a taxi then arranged with the taxi driver to have someone pick us up at the clearance shop to take us back to the station. The store, Stockbusters, was awesome and we were able to pick up 5 locally made knives for cheap because they were a previous year’s make. For reference, we used to buy 1 knife for around $300 and at Stockbusters, we bought 5 for around $250.
We met my husband and kids at Tokyo station to take the Tokkaido Shinkansen to Shizuoka city. Unfortunately we were on the wrong side of the train to see Mt. Fuji, but fortunately it wasn’t out anyway due to cloudy and rainy weather. We visited the family grave site and had dinner at a delicious tendon and unagi restaurant on Shichikencho. I cannot explain how much I love Shizuoka city. I am biased because we lived there and my family is from there, but it is a cute and mildly bustling little city that has a lot of character. We stayed at a newer hotel, Birupaku that we picked because we thought it was near my parents/grandmother’s hotel (Nakajimaya, very old and do not recommend but they always stay there) but that was actually the reception area and we ended up walking up Hontori about 5 minutes. The Birupaku hotel room was HUGE. It had a large open layout with a putting green and also 2 sleeping areas. The bathroom was amazing as it had a wetroom with bathtub, sink area, shower room and toilet room…4 separate rooms! My daughter unlocked potty fear #2 when the toilet lid automatically opened when she approached.
Day 5 – In the morning we walked around Sunpu Park and visited Momijiya Garden. The cherry blossoms were just starting to bloom. We split up again later as I wanted to meet a friend for a playdate, but my parents/grandmother and auntie went to Nihon Daira to see Mt. Fuji. My aunt had the genius idea to take the free Nihon Daira Hotel shuttle bus there and back, so they saved money on a taxi. We met a friend at West Coast Brewing Company, a local brewery that has 21+ beers to choose from, and I recommend it if you are in Shizuoka. Their food also looked good.
Day 6 – My husband, kids and I headed for Suzuka Circuit while my parents/gm went to visit family. My son is obsessed with race cars and plays Gran Turismo, so I made this a priority. Unfortunately, our planning of how to get there got mixed up, so instead of ending up at the station that has a bus or taxi to get to the circuit, we ended up at one that was closer, but no transportation and had to walk over a mile, up and downhill with our bags and complaining children to the hotel. 0/10, do not recommend. We were able to check into the hotel and leave our bags to be delivered to the room later, so we went to the amusement park, the main reason for the trip as there was no race on that day. We had great time and even saw some hobby drivers racing around the track. Suzuka Circuit Hotel looks very old fashioned from the outside, but they have renovated the inside very tastefully. We stayed in a two-story room with a loft area for the kids to sleep. They thought this was just the coolest, and honestly, it pretty much was.
Day 7 – Checked out of the hotel and taxied to the tiny station again to backtrack back to Tokyo via local trains and shinkansen. We stopped in Nagoya to have lunch and it was one of the busiest stations we experienced on the trip. Checked into Mimaru Apartment Hotel Tokyo Station East. We booked adjoining rooms with 2 rooms on each side. This made the last leg of the trip very relaxed because we could always have our privacy away from my parents/gm/kids. Mimaru also has kitchens with kettles and rice cooker so we did eat a few meals at “home”. With childcare taken care of, my husband and I set off for a night in Shibuya.
Day 8 – My dad is an avid horse race fan, so we made a trip to Nakayama Race Course in Funabashi. The venue is absolutely huge and there were so many people there even though it was only a G2 race. We were able to have English racing forms printed for us at the information desk and made a few bets, but we didn’t win much. There is a children’s play area, but you need reservations and I forgot about that unfortunately. We walked to the race course on the way in, but after exploring the venue, we realized we could have walked from the station via underground tunnel so that was how we returned. We spent the afternoon and evening with family.
Day 9 – Spent the day in:
- Akihabara to buy Tomica cars for my son at TamTam)
- Ueno for snacks, lunch and shopping at AmeYoko
- Asakusa to shop for souvenirs, but there were way too many people so instead took temple and cherry blossom pictures
- Sky Tree but the walk up line was 90 minute wait, so we just took more pictures. Definitely buy tickets in advance!
Day 10 – Went to Yokohama and planned to do the Cup Ramen Museum, but bad planning led us to miss out. Try to go in the morning because there may be no availability in the afternoon. We did walk around Aka Renga Soko (should have saved that for the afternoon) and rode the Cosmo Clock 21 ferris wheel. My parents/gm/kids had sushi for dinner in Tsukiji while my husband and I struggled to find anything to eat on our date night because everything on the Yaesu exit side of Tokyo station seemed to be closed (it was a holiday).
Day 11 – Went to Odaiba to keep the kids entertained. We visited the Unko Museum, which was a lot of fun for the kids. We also played at Little Planet Digital Park, an immersive play experience that my kids absolutely adored.
Day12 – This was a rainy day, so although we had high hopes of taking the kids to Shibuya for sightseeing, we ended up just taking a picture with Hachiko, eating kaitenzushi, playing at a game center and then heading back early. In the evening we went to TeamLab Planets which was also a fun experience for the kids, but I kind of thought that it was really getting worn out and sometimes felt kind of dirty.
Day 13 – Our departure day, so we just did hanami at the nearby park and then headed to the airport. Dropped off the Sakura Mobile pocket wifi in the provided envelope at an airport post box and said goodbye to Japan…for now!
Other info:
Mask wearing became optional on day 2 of our trip, and although 95% of Japanese people wore masks, most tourists did not. We also chose not to wear masks in the end and we did not face any negative reactions.
Definitely use the JR Pass online reservation system for the shinkansen! The unreserved cars on the way to Niigata were very packed and it would have been nice to have sat together. We utilized the reservation function for all other shinkansen trips.
After our JR Pass expired, we used Suica/Toica since were staying in the Tokyo Metro area. Our Suica/Toica cards from 10 years ago still worked, something we were initially unsure about. We bought tickets for our 6 year old because there weren’t many JR Offices that would issue children’s Suica and we got too lazy.
Google Maps was awesome for getting around, we had no problems using this instead of other Japanese transportation apps.

2023.03.30 20:45 scrumblingflood Basic questions about chord progressions

I'm a saxophonist. I'm self taught , and usually play solo so thats why I don't know these things despite having played for a while.
1) is a chord like a mini scale within a key?
2) is it my job as someone improvising melody to basically improvise within each of the chords as they move along?
3) is it a given that there will a decent body of shared notes between all the chords?
4) if for example the chord progression goes G G E B, should I in turn have my improvisation over each chord center around the root note? (I'm assuming the root is the note the chord is named after but idk)
5) can a multiple chords exist inside another chord? I have a balalaika which has three strings so only produces three notes. Could there be multiple balalaika chords existing within a six string guitar chords ? Or is each balalaika chord directly analogous to a guitar chord ?
I have more questions but I can't write them now. Ill probably do another post.
Ty for responses in advance

2023.03.30 20:45 AliciaWrites [TT] Theme Thursday - Mania

“The onset of mania occurs when repression is no longer able to resist the assaults of the repressed instincts.”

Happy Thursday writing friends!

Before I go into my thoughts for this theme, I want to remind everyone that we have rules about making mental illnesses into caricatures and stereotypes, so please be mindful when writing your stories.
That out of the way, what came to mind for me was the way a person can go a little overboard when they find something or someone they like. Obsession leading to delusions and euphoria surrounding the object/person makes me think of how much a character can suffer when coming down or making that realization that their feelings aren’t reciprocated. But there are other aspects to explore and I’m really looking forward to seeing what y’all come up with! Good words!
Please make sure you are aware of the ranking rules. They’re listed in the post below and in a linked wiki. The challenge is included every week! Also, try out the new genre tags!
[IP] [MP]
New! Bonus (15 pts): Your story must be in First Person - Present point-of-view (10 pts) and use the Word of the Day in your story (5 pts).
Word of the Day:
  • an object or space used to contain something.

Here's how Theme Thursday works:

As a reminder to all of you writing for Theme Thursday: the interpretation is completely up to you! I love to share my thoughts on what the theme makes me think of but you are by no means bound to these ideas! I love when writers step outside their comfort zones or think outside the box, so take all my thoughts with a grain of salt if you had something entirely different in mind.

2023.03.30 20:45 Kiwiland2001 How do I open a little Italian takeaway?

In the past months I've been thinking about this idea of having a food truck where to sell traditional homemade pasta like I learned to make in Italy. Recently I had an acquaintance say that they're putting for rent this place that had a kitchen and it's a pretty busy area as well with schools near by and the main bus station of my town literally in front of the little store.
I've studied a bit of economics in high school but would have no clue on where to start to get this business started. I only have a vision of selling simple and traditional Italian pasta dishes for a decent price/quality ratio since everything is homemade.
Does anyone has any experience in opening a food joint?

2023.03.30 20:44 SunflowerWrites [FxM] Dark Modern Fantasy Literate Opener & Details of Plenty!

3… 2.. 1.
OPENER below.

The ouija board sat in the center of the coffee table, the letters and numbers written in black ink on a wooden surface. The flickering light from the candles cast an eerie glow on the room, making the shadows dance along the poster littered walls.
Tessa sat with Bridget and Amelia, her fingers lightly resting on the wooden planchette. They had all heard the stories about the dangers of playing with an ouija board, but they had laughed them off, thinking it was just superstition.
As they began to ask questions, the planchette moved slowly, almost imperceptibly. At first, they thought it was just their imaginations, but the movements became more pronounced. The entity they were speaking to did not identify itself, and with each passing answer, the girls became increasingly frightened.
Bridget was the first to notice that the temperature in the room had dropped. She looked around, seeing tiny droplets of condensation forming on the windows. Suddenly, a gust of wind blew through the room, extinguishing the candles and leaving them in complete darkness.
Suddenly, Tessa felt a hand grab her wrist, squeezing it tightly. She let out a scream, realizing that it wasn't Amelia's or Bridget's hand. She tugged, trying to break free. For a brief moment, the entity and her locked eyes, reflecting the same type of consuming darkness. The moment was fleeting, but it left Tessa expelling the air from her lungs.
At that moment, something happened, and he released her only to use each hand to grab Bridget and Amelia. He tightened his grip, sending shooting pain up their arms.
Frantically, the girls tried to break the connection, but he was too strong. They were trapped, helpless to escape his grasp. Then the lights cut off. Silence filled the room.
Breaking through the silence, Bridget starts to cry, "Run..." That was all Tessa needed to hear to pull herself from the ground and head to the only direction she thought to escape.
Tessa stumbled through the night, finding her way out of the dorm building, tears streaming down her face as she tried to understand what had just happened.
Every breath felt like fire in her lungs as she ran outside into the darkness. She could hear the wind howling through the trees and the sound of her own ragged breathing.
Suddenly, she felt a hand on her shoulder and spun around in terror. But it was only a security guard, one of the ones who worked at the dorms. He looked concerned as he saw her tears and asked her what was wrong.
Tessa tried to but couldn't explain.
" I... I just got spooked when all the lights cut off... I.." she fumbled with her words, but eventually, she formulated enough of a sentence to justify her demeanor.
The security guard looked at her skeptically, but something in Tessa's eyes must have convinced him. He asked her if she needed to be walked to her car, the direction she was heading before she was stopped.
Tessa waited anxiously, her heart pounding in her chest. It took all but a split second before she shook her head.
"No, I think..erm-- I'll be fine," she concluded, solidifying her fib with a confident smirk.
As Tessa pushed forward off her heels, her thoughts drifted to that dorm room. What had happened to Bridget and Amelia? Had they run too?
Tessa returned to her hotel room after just a 1-mile walk from the campus. That long mile left her head spinning in every direction until she was ultimately hollow.
It was midnight by the time she reached her single room's threshold. There was no time wasted. Tessa kicked off her shoes and flung herself on the bed. Her eyes close tightly shut, neglecting to even use a once of strength to cover herself. She welcomes the darkness as she drifts to sleep.

ABOUT TESSA ( My Character)
Tessa, formally known as Theresa Louise Logan, was a nineteen-year-old, bright, and promising talent at Julliard, dazzling her professors. However, the pressure of being a student proved too much for her. That and also, Georgina Logan, Mother, and the self-proclaimed manager, was pulling Tessa too thin.
Juilliard was a full-time commitment. Tessa knew this. However, Georgina had other plans. She had commercials and modeling on the weekend. The occasional private dance performances are usually requested by New York's top 3%--not quite making it to the top 1. Instead, they pretend. The performances always made her feel cheap, but if Georgina asked...Tessa delivered.
This road eventually led to her dropping out. Though still determined to pursue her passion, she landed a spot at the Northern Pacific Dance Company in Dover, New Hampshire. For a moment, Tessa found a renewed sense of purpose, but her stage mother followed closely behind, dimming any hope that once flickered in her eyes.
Tessa resembled her mother. She was a thin, petite girl with a delicate face framed by soft strands of honey-blonde hair and brown eyes that probably used to sparkle. Now they were filled with a mix of unyielding sorrow and vulnerability. }

Hey there! I'm Sunflower, a nickname I was given, and it has become an alias.
I am a 31F // EST US // Married with a Family NOT looking for boyfriends.
I have had a decade's worth of experience role-playing. I have been on hiatus, I got pretty sick there for a minute, but I have returned. As you (hopefully) read in my opener, I would consider myself an "Literatate"... I try putting thought and detail into every scene.
All of my characters are usually broken girls that have the potential to be some dark goddess. What does that even mean? In romance novel terms, I would teeter on the edge of Sub/Brat with a heavy amount of sass and sarcasm. They are typically far from sane and have flexible morals. They are flawed and beautifully addicting.
As for what I am looking for, I would prefer my partner to be able to mostly match me in literacy. I will always prefer quality over quantity.
I was thinking of a cat/mouse, romantic, slow-burn, modern fantasy with a "Dark Alpha Male" type for this particular plot idea! My character would be human and your character we can discuss! If you hate my idea, I am always open to other ideas.
I favor plot over adult scenes, but you can expect some NSFW scenes, especially for this particular idea. The mix would be about 80/20 in favor of the plot.
My requirements are:
-Must be 25+ (Sorry) -Must write in 3rd/Past Tense -Must not be a creep -Open to communicate -Discord preferred but not a hard limit. -Please bring ideas or at least contribute -Can write a solid 3-4 paragraphs considering. -Lastly, Be Kind. :)
I can typically type a well-thought-out post like this 3x per week-- I do have a demanding job. We can also play in discord if you would like, but I prefer to chat on Reddit before hand and discuss your thoughts and see if we are a good mix.
Anywho, you can send me a chat message if you fit the criteria and are interested in potentially being partners!
Sorry for the lengthy prompt, but I do hope you enjoy it! Also, give me some time to answer because I am typically in and out throughout the day. Also, anxiety.

2023.03.30 20:44 Ok_Initiative_1426 An Ohio Pokémon League

So, it's kind of standard for Pokémon fans to come up with their own regions. When I was home from college over Christmas break one year I got bored and decided to make my own Pokémon region based off my home state - Ohio (lol). This is my idea of what an Ohio-based Pokémon league would look like.
The gyms, in no particular order:
Columbus - Electric Type Columbus is home to a lot of tech companies and research non-profits. The Columbus gym would be a research lab with an emphasis on artificial Pokémon: the Voltorb line, the Magnemite line, the Porygon line, Dracozolt and Arctozolt since those are fossil Pokémon based off of paleontologists "messing up", and Xurkitree, an ultra beast accessed via wormhole (portals as we all know are very scientific)
Cleveland - Poison Type Cleveland was once a center of industry in Ohio and as such generated a lot of pollution. In fact, Cleveland's river, the Cuyahoga, used to be so polluted that it would catch on fire (a river...catching on fire). However there have been a lot of cleanup efforts over the past few decades and wildlife have finally returned to the river. This open-air gym would be a clean-up site on the banks of the river, and the trainers and gym leader would specialize in Pokémon that eat pollution, thereby cleaning up their enviornment: the Trubbish line (eats land pollution), the Galarian Weezing line (eats air pollution and expels clean air, plus the smokestack design plays into the industrial character of the city), the Alolan Muk line (eats water pollution), and the Hisuian Qwilfish line (also eats water pollution). Other Pokémon that might be used here are the Skrelp line, Tentacool line, and Galarian Corsola line, as these are all Pokémon that can be found in dirty water (Lake Erie is right there after all)
Cincinnati - Water Type Cincinnati is water type because of its location on the Ohio River, and the significance of that river to American history: before the Civil War, escaped slaves would cross the Ohio River from the slave state in Kentucky into freedom in Ohio. Because African-American churches in Cincinnati played such an important role in helping escaped slaves reach freedom, this gym would take place in an African-American church! Gym trainers and the gym leader would specialize in water-type Pokémon that ferry people across bodies of water such as Lapras. Additionally, because Cincinnati's nickname is "the Queen City", trainers here would also use water Pokémon with "regal" names: Seaking, Kingler, Kingdra, Slowking, and their evolutionary families. Finally, because this gym is in a church, Swablu and Altaria would be seen here as well, given their angelic appearances.
Dayton - Flying Type Ohio is known as the "Birthplace of Aviation", in large part because the Wright Brothers developed their designs for their flying machines in Dayton. Similar to Unova, this gym would take place at an airfield. Because the Wright Brothers worked together as a team, this gym would focus on double battles, with a particular emphasis on flying Pokémon that exist in pairs: Skarmory and Mantine, Braviary and Mandibuzz, male and female Unfezant, maybe even the Lati's!
Toledo - Fire Type Another gym on the shores of our largest body of water that is not the water type lol. You might not know this but Toledo was and still is a huge producer of glass products. It's even earned the nickname "the Glass Capital of the World". As such, this gym would be held inside a glassblowing plant, and the Pokémon used would be fire type Pokémon that can double as furnaces: Torkoal, the Magby line, the Numel line, the Rolycoly line, etc. Additionally, Lampent and Chandelure would a staple of this gym as they are literally fire-type Pokémon that are made of glass. And finally, since glass is just superheated sand, this gym would use a lot of ground types as well, especially the Silcobra and Hippopotas evolutionary families, maybe even Sandygast and Palossand (even though they can't learn any fire type moves)!
Youngstown - Steel Type Youngstown is like the quintessential Rust Belt city. One of its nicknames is "Steel Town", and historically it's been a center for steel production in the United States. Those days are long gone, so imagine a gym inside a grungy, dilapidated old factory. The trainers here would focus on the Steel "object" Pokémon, Pokémon that look like ordinary objects that could conceivably be made in a factory: Klefki, the Varoom line, the Bronzor line, and the Klink line. While not based on a manufactured product, Copperajah's skin is quite literally made of oxidized metal, so it has to be included here. Lastly, Timburr, Gurdurr, and Conkeldurr would be very popular Pokémon here as well.
Athens - Psychic Type Located in Ohio's Southeast, Athens is home to Ohio University, the oldest university in the state. As universities are centers of learning and knowledge, this gym would be located inside the university's library (sorry to everyone trying to study), and the Pokémon there would be mons commonly associated with exceptional intelligence: Oranguru, the Abra line, the Solosis line, the Blipbug line, heck maybe even Uxie (the idea of a Uxie just chillin out at OU of all places is very funny to me). Other Pokémon that could be here are Psychic-type cats (OU's mascot is the bobcat) like Meowstic and Espeon, and because owls are often a symbol of wisdom, owl Pokémon like Noctowl and Decidueye would be favorites among the trainers here as well.
Hocking Hills - Rock Type For our last gym, rather than focusing on a city, I wanted to focus on one of Ohio's state parks, Hocking Hills. This park is in the south of Ohio and is known for its hiking trails and beautiful rock formations. Like Cleveland, this would be another outdoor gym, maybe at the end of a trail, in a rocky clearing surrounded by waterfalls. The trainers here would use...well, living rock formations! The Nacli line, the Roggenrola line, the Geodude line, the Dwebble line, the Binacle line, and Carbink. Additionally, because the Hocking Hills are also a forest, certain grass type Pokémon like Sawsbuck and Leafon would be staples of this gym as well (especially Leafeon, as it evolves from exposure to a Moss ROCK).
So those are Ohio's gyms! Would love to hear your guys' thoughts, if enough people enjoy this maybe I'll make a post about Ohio's Elite 4 and Champion as well! 😊

Hi everyone! I am a grad student and work part time on weekends. I am short on rent this month because I had to take my dog to the vet and the bill was around $300. Anything helps! I will send you a thank you note or a silly little drawing or a picture of my dog! I appreciate anyone who can help!

My roommates and I are looking to find a 4th roommate for the apartment next year. The apartment is located on carlisle st which is one block away from broad, so it is a short walk to campus. The building is still under construction and is expected to be done end of May. Our unit will be a 4bed 4bath so everyone gets their own bathroom. Rent is 700/month. PM with questions or if interested

2023.03.30 20:43 MelissaBM Can massaging really thicken up earlobes?

Both my ears were done with a piercing gun when I was still a child. One side is a bit off center and the lobe is thinner there (thick enough to stretch). But it looks a bit weird.. If my thinner part was a bit thicker my lobe would probably look a lot better. But how can massaging make it thicker?
Thanks everyone

2023.03.30 20:42 IngridFJ How can I centre kaleidoscope ruler perfect and quick in ibis paint x?

I use my finger to (draw and) drag the center towards 500x500, so in the middle. Sometimes it works quite quickle. But sometimes it is somehow impossible to be that exact and it might take a while. I wouldn't be surprised if there's a shortcut for this. Anyone who knows it?

Best options for this? Rocker panel dented. I don’t want “accident reported” on my carfax
I was in downtown Dallas when a idiot was heading right towards me, I moved out of the way and hit a curb right in the corner and crushed my rocker panel, no other damage beside what’s seen in the image, I have Tesla Insurance and explained to them this car is in immaculate condition and I don’t want an accident report on carfax for something so minor- they told me that Tesla insurance themselves don’t report to carfax, but I don’t know if tesla service centers do, (it’s impossible to get in contact with a service center) I’ve had a few quotes under $2-3k cash. I was curious if anyone else has a similar experience and if anyone knows of the best way to go around this, thx!

2023.03.30 20:41 GarbageOpossum Unemployed roommate with a weed problem keeps avoiding issues and hasn’t paid rent in 3 months

Last year my boyfriend (22M) and I (21F) decided to becomes roommates with a friend (22F) we’ve had for a couple of years so we could afford a bigger apartment and living expenses would be easier. We were also doing it so our roommate could kind of get away from a bad family situation at her home. Perhaps she exaggerated but she would tell us stories about her family stealing her money, items, weed, and breaking her stuff. So we all decided to move into a nicer apartment complex that our other friends also lived at. They are a married couple who was living with a friend of ours. He moved out three months ago and since our current roommate hated him now she will go over to their place everyday exactly at the time they get off of work. Everyday exactly at 4:30 she will put her earbuds in, scurry out the door, and usually not say a word to us besides “bye”. She usually returns at 1:30 in the morning.
She is currently unemployed and has been for around 4 months. She kept telling us she would get a job but only started really searching a couple of weeks ago because we brought it up with her. She keeps reassuring us she has the money and that it’s just the ATM that’s messing up, or that her family took her money, or that it’s gonna be there any day now. My boyfriend believed her but she first started saying this over a couple of months ago. We have gotten no money for groceries, rent, utilities, and she has stopped cleaning. I believe her viewpoint on the matter is that if she stays in her room all day and hangs out with our friends all night then she can’t really be expected to clean or have responsibilities here. She stays in her room and smokes weed all day. Weed that our other friends have given her. She has told us that she cleans their apartment for weed. She has also told us that she’s essentially a buffer to their marriage struggles and has been put in the middle of the arguments. She complains about it but I can’t imagine it’s all that much of a problem for her since she’s constantly with them anytime she can be. It’s annoying because now those friends won’t even hang out with my boyfriend and I, they just make shitty excuses and then ghost us. Which isn’t really that bad since most hangouts have devolved to only smoking weed and watching movies rather than playing games or actually having good conversations. It’s just annoying because now all three of those friends ignore us to exclusively hang out with each other every day. That’s its own thing, whatever, but the very least a roommate should do is pay rent. I’m even more annoyed because we live in a state where living expenses are not even that expensive. Her rent is only $290 a month. She has avoided the issue so much she now owes us a total of $1,100. We have no proof of this though and are unsure of how to get the money. Breaking the lease would be another $1,100 and I highly doubt she’d be able to afford $2,200. We already have another friend we would move in if she left since he at least has a consistent job and a part time gig that in itself would cover rent. I just don’t know how to go about this issue since I told my boyfriend I was tired of dancing around the issue and wanted to confront her directly.
So I stoped her before she darted out the door and she gave me the deadest look and seemed exasperated as she took out her earbuds. I told her that last week she said she’d have the money and she didn’t so she absolutely needed to get the money or a job because this behavior was unacceptable and my boyfriend and I are struggling financially because of her actions. She just brushed it off and said “Yeah, I’ve got a job on Monday. I start then. Is that all?” She never mentioned what it was or where the job would be. I tell her that I’d really like to have a bigger discussion for at least 5 minutes and she puts her earbud back in and says “Okay. Is that all?” And then leaves. I had been discussing this with my boyfriend for an hour about what we should say and she just bolted out the door so she could get her weed, nicotine, and alcohol fix from our enabling friends who seemingly keep her around as a weird sort of maid/third partner in their relationship. It’s just annoying since she can’t even do the bare minimum of being a roommate. If she literally just paid rent I wouldn’t really care what she does but the combination of it all makes me hate her. I hate that my boyfriend and I essentially pay for her to have a vacation from her shitty family while she does nothing but drugs with our other friends while my boyfriend and I work night shift. All she does is stay in her room and play Minecraft. I’m going to have to start picking up more hours at work to cover it all and I’m just feeling an incredible amount of resentment but I literally do not know what route to take besides a legal route that I’ve never had to do before with such a limited amount of proof besides a few texts.

2023.03.30 20:40 Gold_n_honeyB Help with New Pages experience

Help with New Pages experience
I run social media for a business with a business page. Classic pages were great, customizable, and straightforward. New pages? forget it. So here are my questions:

  1. Why do I have the option to manage sections, if I can't truly manage the sections?
It gives you ridiculous options like movies, tv shows, etc that are not applicable to a business page..yes I can leave them unchecked (& have) but why are they an option?!
  1. Same goes for the about section:
  1. We used to (and still do?) have Guides- collections of posts that people could browse and get an overview of certain topics/ services... I can see them from my (admin) side, but they are not accessible or viewable from the outside. I, ironically, can add a new one, only to never be able to edit or delete it.. the joy..
When I click to view a guide I get this:
I have not changed any settings and there is no mention anywhere concerning facebook business page guides. It's not deleted, so I have no idea how or why this was taken away but I can still see it on my side.
If anyone has insight on any of the above I would be so forever grateful. I wish we had switched back to classic before posting, but now it's too late as we will lose all the content we posted on the new pages experience (plus they're rolling this out to everyone soon anyway so have to deal with it eventually). Thank you in advance!

2023.03.30 20:40 AdministrativeAd5615 my (f18) girlfriend (f19) of 2 months wants to move in together

I (f18) have been dating her for 2 months and friends for about 5, I really like her and love spending time with her but I think shes moving really fast and I dont know how to feel about it. For context I got into university last month and my family decided they wanted to live in arizona and there giving me the house and possibly renting it out to students, my gf is amazing and her family is not, there controlling and manipulative and when I told her that my parents might be renting she jumped on it and said were gonna live together asking about rent and finding jobs and travel to her campus. which sounds really great but Ive had experinces that make me dissconnect from relationships and leave me with doubt, what if we break up? We havnt even known eachother for a year, I think its too soon and too much but I dont wanna take this perfect opprotunity away from her. How do I go about this?

2023.03.30 20:39 Sassafrass1213 HELP, I need to cancel my contract…what happens if I don’t pay the fee?

I’ve been traveling for three years and I’ve never canceled a contract but I’m about to cancel this contract. However, in the contract I signed it stated that if I leave without a two weeks notice, I will be fined $1500. I’ve worked in horrible conditions but this is the worst. It is an ICU but the only intensivist is only available VIA TELEDOC!!! That means if anyone needs a procedure/line, the ER doc has to come up. It’s a stroke center and they don’t have speech, physical, or occupational therapy. They have two respiratory therapists for the entire hospital. They didn’t even have syringes in the med room this morning. No 250 NS bags. This is my first shift and the first thing they said to me this morning is that nurses don’t usually get to have lunches. im hearing horror stories from the staff. Im not willing to put my license at risk.
I don’t want to do a single more shift here. are the repercussions if I don’t pay the cancellation fee??

2023.03.30 20:39 beckalm Well here's a specific question: Potters with bisalp?

Hey y'all.
You may have guessed that I'm a potter. Are there any others here? Anyone who's gotten a bisalp?
I brace my left arm/elbow on my hip bone when I center. Obviously, this won't be possible for a few weeks after surgery at least. Wondering how other potters dealt with making in the months after surgery.
I make my work outside on our porch, so spring/summeearly autumn is my prime making period. My surgery is scheduled for May 9. I expect to lose all of May for throwing, but I'm wondering how much more time I should expect to be down.
