I launched my 2023 Expedition on 14 March by departing my buddy's house in Goose Creek, SC to go and fetch my 5th Wheel Trailer that was getting some maintenance done on up in Greenville, NC. The Camping World there did not do all that I asked them to do to get my trailer ready for the season, but they got enough of it done to be able to hit the road. I pressed on another 100 miles to my first stay which was back at the US Coast Guard Aviation Base, Family Camp up in Elizabeth City, NC for a 5-night stay. While there I had my F-450 worked on one last time to get the Diesel Boost corrected to restore more power to the engine.
From Elizabeth City I travelled up across the Chesapeake through Virginia and to my next campsite at Assateague National Shoreline in Maryland for a 4 night stay. The campsite was right across the sand dunes from the vast, empty beach and made for a very quiet home but for the wonderful sound of the surf. Assateague is known for the numerous wild horses that roam the island and I certainly got the pleasure of viewing them on several occasions. The have free run of the place and you may be walking down a path and simply come upon them. For me, there was plenty of great eBiking as well; I even rode my eBike up to Ocean City, Maryland to take in the Boardwalk and sights there. That was a 33 mile round trip that day. Fortunately, the weather was beautiful and in the low 60's.
Upon leaving Assateague, I travelled north to Bethany Beach, Delaware about 35 miles to get to my latest destination at the Delaware Army National Guard Family Camp. I've been here about 4 days now and will be departing tomorrow morning to head to my next destination, Belleplain State Forest in New Jersey where I'll be staying for 4 nights. I'll be catching an early car ferry between Lewes, DE and Cape May, NJ. This should be an interesting treat!
While here at Bethany Beach I've been able to explore the local boardwalk, town, and took two eBike rides; one down south to see Ocean Beach again (34 mile roundtrip), and the other northward to see the sights in Rehoboth Beach, DE. I had the pleasure of seeing the now-famous "Brandon Falls" (look it up) and even made my own mocking video while there. I rode on some very beautiful paths around the beaches and forests within the area before settling in for beer and food at the original, Dogfish Head Brewery in downtown Rehoboth -- a longtime destination goal for me ever since becoming acquainted with Dogfish Head beer and their three licensed restaurants over in the Washington DC area. By the time I rode back to Bethany Beach I think I had put in a good 42'ish miles. So far, this early part of my 2023 Expedition has provided some great bike riding opportunities!
I took multiple pictures along the way of places I have parked my trailer and some of the sights I've seen... I'll add a posting with those to share.

I'm 31 years old and live near Charlotte, NC. After considering trying my hand at surveying for a couple years now (and doing a ton of research), I actually interviewed at a couple places this month. Recently, I had an interview with a midsize southeastern engineering firm and even though I'm "green" they liked that I had a bachelor's degree (unrelated field) and my work history, mostly IT help desk type stuff and warehouse work, and it seems like they are going to extend an offer.
The firm primarily does North Carolina/South Carolina DOT work along the side of highways and I'd be starting as a rodman. Does anyone here have experience doing DOT-type surveying and is it a good entry point for someone just starting out? It doesn't sound like it's going to be as well rounded as a typical boundary surveying work (learning how to research deeds, exposure to CAD, etc). They do 4x10's with a three-day weekend and their crews often travel around the region staying at hotels during the work week. You're also given a per diem. Met someone today ( a teenage guy almost same age as me who is earning twice than most iitians/any top college graduates ) and after talking with him, i am having alot of rethinking about life , jee , education, teenage and stuff . Now I do know y'all might have seen tons of teens ranting all kinds of things but I feel this one is actually worth talking about ....
some background about me: a jee24tard currently in kota since class 8th , originally from a small town
Some background about him( ik the specific details but will try to mention the least required for his privacy) : a guy from same state and simple town who is earning approx twice/thrice of iitians and going some country in Europe for college this year all paid by himself, he is also going another developed country in Asia in a few days for a hackathon. He works in a European web3 company ( wfh) full time
Btw I do know that since i met him online he can fake and lie everything so for that- he didn't tell me anything by himself, he joined my discord server from one of subreddits randomly and then I visited all his profiles and pages on various socials like Twitter , website , company profile etc and verified that he is legit , then tried to talk to him and get some tips ....
Now after talking I felt a lot of fomo, like how I didn't even enjoy school life properly neither did much academic wise, I have wasted most of my 9th and 10th due to covid and then 11th due to procrastination, overthinking and worrying about wrong things and ye so pretty fucked in preparation for the only thing I came Kota 4 years ago, Now I was a pretty ambitious child before kota and even in first year of kota, wanted to go MIT , crack olympiads, do coding , my final dream was to start and run a successful startup...I was cheerful, ambitious, hopeful, optimistic, eager to learn etc but starting covid and entering teenage I started worrying about wrong things like not having enough social life, not having girls to talk to, not being attractive, being insecure af about my looks, having fomo by seeing influencer kids on insta , hating my life and fucking my self esteem during those years, barely managing to get out of depression which I got by being isolated af in covid and only being online ( for 2 years of covid I was at home since kota coachings and hostels were closed) and even till this date, I worry about those things sometimes and get insecure , ok the blame goes to bullying...I was bullied for it in school and few times during my first year in kota too but I think it shouldn't have affected me to the level it did, anyways so ye I went from a ambitious, gifted( in studies) , optimistic child to a self loathing, non confident teen . I fucked my studies and mental health and everything , partially but surely because of getting freedom and personal phone at an early age.
While him.....he didn't care about who is doing jee/neet as his parents wanted him to, who is a topper in class, who is attractive, who hangs out with tons of friends, which celeb teen is having what fun, who is being more successful, who is getting sex OR PROBABLY he did think about all that but never let those thoughts affect his work and efforts, he just kept grinding on computer all by himself and working as freelancer from as small as 13-14 , he was so consistent in whatever he was doing that now he gets invited in hackathones all across world, does a full time job as developer in an international web3 company, probably has more social life than me, earns more than any iitian would and also much before them
Mannnnnn like at the age of 10-12 we must be same right? He is also from middle class family who wanted him to do jee, he also was ambitious and optimistic and had big dreams , he also went through teenage , he also must have felt some difficulties and non- validation from his peers because of how he just coded all day
But our lives at present turned out to be so different, like so so so different, I am not saying my whole future is fucked or I can never achieve what I wanted to..a successful tech startup, but man i am far less ambitious now. I have gotten comfortable in being average , I have gotten comfortable in overthinking and not pushing myself , i have ripped my childhood dreams apart because of fear of not being enough, I have gotten comfortable in ranting and complaining more than working, I have...ye it just all seems so impossible now and the thinking of being successful or having big dreams now just gives me anxiety and stress, like what the fuckk

I know this is a stupid question as I write it, but idk, I kind of just want some opinions. So, while I'm 80, I haven't started end game or anything, but my main is a Jugg/Assassin. I love having alts to play around with different styles, but I'm having such a hard time getting into tech classes. On paper, I love operative (who is level 72 currently), but playing it just doesn't feel satisfying and I'm having a hard time getting into it. I haven't picked a second style on her yet, but was leaning toward Mercenary so that I had a character with 2 tank specs and one with 2 healing specs. But I'm just so incredibly drawn to force users in this game, it just feels "lame" to me without it. I know operatives are and usually have always been in an amazing spot, both dps (especially lethality) and heals.
I have another character I was working on who is a Sage/Shadow (shadow purely for solo/stealth). I'm having so much more fun on her. I love sage and shadow gives me more practice for specs I use on my main. However, it seems that Sage is usually always in a rough spot. Their dps is at best middling on parses and they seem to nearly always be the worst of the healers. I don't think I'd ever play Shadow in groups, only sage. I have my main if I want to play that style. How much would I be shooting myself in the foot to just play Inquis (sage/shadow) and Warrior (jugg/assassin)? Should I give Operative some more time and just see if the specs eventually click with me? Even though I'm 72, I haven't played her in years before this month, so I've not spent a ton of time on her.
To give a little more info as to my issues with operative, it's mostly a feel thing. I love the idea of poisons, but none of my button presses seem to have much weight behind them. I'm also not a huge fan of the rotation, I'm finding myself playing very suboptimally, like refreshing dots way too early and not being sure what to press next. I know that's a practice issue, but I'm still having issues with it. I keep comparing it to Hatred/Serenity and those specs are so much more enjoyable imo. Concealment feels a little better, but I hate the lack of aoe, so I was trying to get into lethality. I haven't tried healing yet, but between operative and merc, I'm sure I'd manage to find some love there. Being able to enjoy a class solo though is very important to me.

I can't believe it happened to me once again. Always been friendly and helpful to others, but many continue to take advantage of this. I'm sick and tired of people manipulating me to get something from me. I am aware that this is a problem, but I am unable to distinguish who is genuine and who is not. So I reconnected with my former neighbour and friend around a month ago. We had a close friendship before she moved away a few years ago. She was really flirty when we first met, holding hands and clinging on my arm while taking a walk. The issue is that she is quite attractive, and I used to have a crush on her.
I interpreted these as signals that she might be interested in me. I did ask her to "hang out" together again and continued chatting with her. It turns out that she needs my help to complete a project. I assumed it would be something small, but she wants me to do a significant portion of the job on her part. Due to my busy schedule with my own examinations and projects, I did suggest her some websites where she could possibly get what she wants. All of our communication over the past two to three days has been about doubts regarding her project. I interpreted these as signals that she might be interested in me. I did ask her to "hang out" together again and continued chatting with her. It turns out that she needs my help to complete a project. I assumed it would be something small, but she wants me to do a significant portion of the job on her part. Due to my busy schedule with my own examinations and projects, I did suggest her some websites where she could possibly get what she wants. All of our communication over the past two to three days has been about doubts regarding her project. She didn't mention our daily topics of conversationâtalking about each other's days or anything elseâeven once.
I am so angry and depressed right now, and just want to confront her directly but don't have to courage to do it. I have just given up on people now. "Yeah, Engi, come on, you don't see me complaining about your crap platform placing eh," Scout says as he uses his grappling gun to zip through the air to a Plastcrete MKII platform with barely a ledge to stand on, hanging at least ten stories high above solid rock ground. As he begins to mine the Nitra there, the wall shuffles, and a tunnel gives way to the Driller standing in sight. He says, "Might have taken a wrong turn down there somewhere," after a moment of silence the Scout and Driller both burst out laughing. The ground starts trembling. "I'm not the one doing that this time," Driller comments to Scout. Scout looks below and shouts at Engi and Gunner, "You guys feel that down there!?" Gunner's and Scout's stomachs sink, "Had their eyes not adjusted yet, this couldn't be a Glyphid right, not even Oppressors nor Hiveguard Dreadnaughts could grow this big," Scout thought to himself, but whatever other thoughts he might have had were lost by the shouting of Gunner and the roaring of his minigun as it amps up to its maximum speed and starts unloading on the creature. "Aaaaaarrrgggh!"Gunner roars alongside his minigun, Scout joins in the shout. He doesn't know why he's shouting, but it feels goddamn right. "This must be what the rumors said about what wanders in the dark depths of Hoxxes IV, the bloody Glyphid queen!" Gunner shouts to scout above all the firepower being deployed, wishing they had taken it more seriously than just a tale to scare the green-beards.  Yet no matter how much they try, the armor of this mountainous beast isn't being damaged by their attacks. It actually seems as if the creature might not have even noticed the dwarves being there, could be she is just on her way. But the creature had noticed them and understood them more than they thought, as she was waiting patiently for the shield to die out, as would the dwarves alongside it. As the shield flickered signifying its end, the queen makes her move. She unhinges her jaw breaking away into four parts to reveal rows and rows of teeth, all circulating, sharp as a pickaxe, with Glyphids running in and out of her mouth as well in between the rows of teeth. Her armor begins to rattle, creaking and shaking as it opens up to expose tunnels of flesh where eggs are being dropped out amongst venomous, poisonous green goo bile that starts to flood the cave, being held back only by the shield bubble. The eggs hatch, giving birth to all manners of Glyphids while full-grown Glyphids are coming out of her orifices. "Gross," says Scout as the shield runs out of energy when the queen suddenly lunges forward violently and with more speed than her massive body should be able to have ripping and tearing the ground where Scout and Gunner had stood but moments ago. "By the beard, Gunner, you got to lay off the sandwiches," Scout says, with the grappling hook wearing and screeching due to having been overloaded to manage and be able to take Gunner and himself out of the hellish beast's path. "Never!" replies Gunner holding on to Scout for safety, something he never thought would happen. Before Gunner can add to that the grappling hook snaps and they slam down onto the cave's floor. In the pitch-black darkness, Gunner is disoriented and can't find his footing. "Scout? Scout?" Gunner throws a flare and sees Scout lying on the ground injured. He runs to him, only to realize his leg is also badly hurt. "Aargh," he almost falls to the floor but manages to support himself using the minigun as a crutch. Gunner limps towards Scout, saying, "Hey Scout, I promise I'll leave the sandwiches alone... but only if we drink double the beer." As Gunner crouches next to Scout, Scout turns with a bloody face and says, "You better be paying, then." As Scout is helped to his feet by Gunner, the rumbling starts again, and multiple cave tunnels open around them, unleashing a swarm of Glyphids. The dark cave is lit up not by flares but by all the firepower being unleashed on the Glyphids. Gunner and Scout stand shoulder to shoulder against the unyielding swarm. It wasn't necessary to say it, they were both thinking the same, that if this is to be the end then we better make it a bloody good one, as they shout "FOR ROCK AND STONE!!!" in unison. The Glyphid bodies begin to pile up even managing to clog up some of the tunnels, the dwarves' weapons glowing red nearing their melting points from the non-stop use. "Could we actually make it?" thought Gunner" Command we have made contact with the Glyphid Queen and need immediate extraction, Command do you copy we have made contact with the Glyphid Queen, need immediate extraction" when the ground they are standing on begins to tremble to crack and open beneath them, swallowing them both whole, into the darkness. The ground shakes as the Glyphid queen crawls out of the giant sinkhole where Scout and Gunner held their ground against all odds. The earth trembles while the Glyphid queen continues on her trail of death and destruction in the darkness of Hoxxes IV. I would like to share something personal and that is that I have or used to have huge trouble understanding tone over text mixed with anxiety which means I mostly used to play solo games or multiplayer games solo as talking online induced my anxiety, and that was until I met Deep Rock Galactic. At first, it was, as usual, playing solo but the more I played the more I saw the community for what awesome understanding dwarves they are and that allowed me to interact with people, finally being able to chat over text and carry conversations and jokes making friends and memories. which leads me to this because the community is so awesome it has given me the confidence to post this, hopefully, you liked it fellow miners. |

It's really bad an affects my quality of life and ability to hold a job and relationships. I've tried a few SSRIs but gotten intolerable side effects (insomnia, sexual side effects), an NDRI (Bupropion) which also raised my anxiety, heart rate, and blood pressure, but helped with some of the motivation. I currently take Bupropion but am considering ceasing it to see if anxiety improves. I've experimented with L-methylfolate and methylcobalamin. I had a ton of energy and mental clarity the first day taking both, but felt dreadful on day 2 (lethargy, sad, brain fog, headache, general feeling of malaise, irritable), which I now suspect is due to low MAOA activity. I also have a rare CYP3A4 mutation that I haven't found much good info about. Based on what I've read so far on selfhacked.com , I think low MAOA could be the cause of my heretofore untreatable mental health issues: an overabundance of neurotransmitters that aren't being broken down. But that seems to be somewhat contradicted by the MTHFR genes, which would cause me to underproduce catecholamines and serotonin, right? So I'm bad at making neurotransmitters, and bad at breaking them down? Can anybody help me to interpret this and decide what, if any, supplements are worth looking into? Would a low tyramine diet also potentially improve brain fog? |

I know this is a very controversial topic but I'm coming from a thread where this was talked about and i'm a bit perplexed.
Everyone hates SaSS because yeah ... you have to pay monthly or yearly or what not bu, on the other spectrum no one is really going to do this work for absolutely free.
So what's the best way to go about this. Is one time payment feasible ?
Let's say i create a plugin and ask for $50 for it and offer 1yr of free updates and support. Well considering the medium PHP Development salary in the US which is ~$100-125k you would have to sell said plugin in order to really afford to live off this and offer the support and fixes users need about 2000-2500 licenses (which is HUGE to convince 2500 people to buy something off you). Another problem is also the fact that you would have to continuously do this year over year because from all i've heard retention is about 7-10% so basically after a year you lose 90% of the people who bought it.
The second thing is what do you do after that year ? what happens if a leak is found in an older 2-3 year old version of the plugin ? do you offer users a fix for that or just not care about it ?
The third one is reputation, if you just don't care about old versions of software it's absolutely normal that at some point that becomes obsolete and hackable, and basically you'll also have people leaving you reviews that they got hacked "because of you" off a 3-4-5 year old software. So here i'm a bit stressed by this not nearly as much about reputation but because of the fact that you leave broken and hackable software in the wild which is not cool

I just want to sum up what happened with one of my orders last night for ALL the drivers to see here.
I accepted a Five Guys order 7.8miles for $16. While on my way to Five Guys, a second order pops up for Wokano 3.4miles for $6. I hit accept and the app immediately switches my pick up location to pick up Wokano first. Once I picked up Wokano, the app directs me to pick up Five Guys (app's direction takes me in to a paid parking structure) I'm like: "fine lets just get the job done quickly". I get to Five Guys and the worker tells me the food was already picked up by another driver 1 hour ago. So I had to cancel this $16 job and ended up driving a total of 11 miles to deliver the Wokano for $7 which I would have never accepted if it wasn't for that Five Guys order going the same direction.
It seems like Ubereats just tricked me in to doing a low pay high mileage job by baiting me with another delivery (already picked up by another driver). Not only I lost time, I was hit with a parking fee. I'm still pretty zen but I just wanted to leave this here for all the drivers to see that Ubereats be playing games with their drivers. I hope this encourages more drivers to reject low paying deliveries that doesn't meet your mileage rate. Especially when they try to stack an order on you while you're already in progress with another delivery.
