So I have a friend, who has been single for a very long time. In fact, he's never really had a boyfriend. For the past 2 years or so (just around when COVID restrictions started lifting), he has gotten fixated on finding a boyfriend. Like it's all he can talk about. All conversations with him eventually lead to his complaining that he's single, guys don't like relationships, guys don't like him, guys are flaky/shallow, guys only want sex, guys only care about money etc. At first, I thought this was a temporary mindset and he was just reacting this strongly after lockdown because of the pandemic. But it has gotten worst as time has gone on.
What brought things to a head is that my fiancé and I got engaged a few months ago and have been slowly planning our wedding. At first he seemed happy for us, but as time has gone on, he's become very sippy, not just at us, but towards all the couples in our friend group. It's made a lot of people not want to get together to plan things out. My boyfriend and I are estranged from most of our families for the typical reasons, you might expect for gay men. So it means a lot of have our friends kind of take the roles that would have gone to family members and helping us plan.
He has made things unbearable and all about his singleness. He always has something sarcastic and negative to say ("Thanks for letting help out with planning your wedding, since I'm never going to have my own!", "I guess only the good looking guys get happily ever afters", "I guess the guys with money just want to marry each other and us peasants have to beg outside for scraps"). Please note, my fiancé and I are neither insanely rich or outstandingly handsome (well I think he is, but I'm bias), but it's like he's been lionising everything to make the wedding seem "outrageous", "unrealistic", or "unattainable".
He says these things in a "I just JOKING" way, and with anyone else I would probably believe that, but these catty/mean comments have been happening so frequently that I just don't buy that he means it light heartedly.
He also has had the audacity to ask me to set him up with dates, implying that I owe it to him since I'm having a wedding while he's still single and thus embarrassing him. Note, I've tried setting him up in the past, but according to the dudes I set him up with, he came on WAY too strong, was super clingy, and was already talking about relationships and LOVE before they had finished their coffee. And those guys are now in long term relationships with other men, so they were genuinely looking for relationships. So I honestly don't want to set him up with another friend, because that would be unfair to the friend.
The cherry on top is that he has started confiding to another single friend, whom has never said anything negative about being single. But now he's starting to immitate his behavior and has started to commiserate with him.
I know most of you will say to dump him as a friend. Admittedly, this would be the logical choice. But he was my first openly gay friend. When I came out to my family and my brother punched me and my father disowned me, he held me as a cried and drank myself to sleep that weekend. He's been there for me when I was at my lowest, I don't want to write him off unless I really have to.
I know I need to have a discussion with him about how his actions/statements/attitudes have become intolerable at this point. My friends and I have tried to broaching the topic before but he becomes defensive, will make excuses, and will redirect the conversation.
So how can I have a direct conversation with him, without him feeling threatened/criticized so he doesn't try to run away from the topic? How can I frame it? Should I have him come over one on one to watch TV, then transition into the discussion or should I tell him directly what I want to talk about? Should it just be me or should other friends that he's started to become critical of also be present to Voice their concerns/hurt, or would that make him feel like he's being gained up on?
Any experience and/or advice on organizing/framing this discussion would be of a great help.
TLDR: Chronically single friend had started to become intolerable toxic/mean/snippy since fiancé and I got engaged. His negatively is affecting the friend group and I need help on how to frame a discussion with him that won't feel overly critical so he doesn't try to deflect.

I‘m not sure if this belongs here so please tell me if this is the wrong sub. Also English isn’t my first language. I’m seeking advice, that’s the situation: A close relative (71M) is an alcoholic and is currently in hospital because of an alcohol related emergency and he‘s coming home tomorrow. He already has a cirrhosis of the liver and his doctor told him that he’s not allowed to drink anymore because it harms his body. But he doesn’t care and he refuses to go to seek help. So my boyfriend and I went to his home and replaced all his beer, gins and wines with non-alcoholic ones. The bottles look identical to the alcoholic ones so if you don‘t look carefully you could think it‘s real alcohol. It also tastes similar. The thought behind this is that we know he probably won’t stop drinking but with the non-alcoholic stuff he wouldn’t harm himself. But right now I‘m not sure if this is the right way and if we shouldn‘t just remove all the alcohol so it‘s out of sight and out of mind. What are your thoughts of this?

Hello everyone, first post here because I'm trying to be sure about everything before i go trough with it.
So, my girlfriend just got a new phone, she's going from an A10 to an A53 (so it's still Android) and we really really REALLY (can't stress enough) value all of our whatsapp chats togheter and she's worried that on the new phone they won't transfer because it happened to her already.
Now, I've searched everything about this topic but everytime there are some people saying that it didn't work so I'm asking here for a breakdown of the whole operation.
I know I have to first of all make a backup of the chats by going into whatsapp backup settings, connecting the Google account that she uses for drive and starting a manual backup so that every chat SHOULD go into a drive backup. (I also read that this must be performed while the phone charges for some reason)
When the backup is finished I can go on Drive and check if the backup has been done by checking the last backup date.
Now, my guess is that she can leave her SIM in the old phone, log in with her google account on drive on the new phone and, by downloading and running whatsapp for the first time, she will be promoted to insert her telephone number, confirm it on the old phone and then prompted again to restore the chats by using Drive.
Am i correct? Is there something I'm missing? I'm sorry for the long post but I really care about these chats and I cannot let them be lost for some sort of freak accident.

I'm here looking for a genuine and serious relationship, finding a life-partner to settle down with, who wants marriage and possibly (not a must per se) children. "Hello and thank you for tuning into your local Apocalypse Radio Station 102.3 FM! Today, we're discussing the origins for the outbreak and several theories we might have that caused the outbreak!" This came from a radio signal that managed to make it through the only working radios in the world. Luckily, some electricity still made it through certain parts of neighborhoods to power such devices. One man, who goes by the name Derek, has a working radio, and always tunes into this one station. Obviously, he would. It seems to be the only working radio station that has came up since the outbreak started.
Sometimes, this radio station would play music. There was certain hours of the day that music was played, roughly for about two hours, before they started their discussions for the afternoon. Since it was the only station, of course everyone who was left alive tuned into the entertainment, since the rest of the entertainment was only brought on by either watching the undead or leaving the area to scavenge for supplies.
"Hey, Patrick, do you remember hearing about a child left behind in a grocery store when the apocalypse had happened? I heard that this kid had never left the store and survived only with what he had left after people looted it out. Sad, isn't it?" The radio station host went off about. This was a true story and a legend that lived throughout the area. Those who were left alive wanted to seek out this child to protect it from any danger it could run into. However, no one was lucky enough to find this child. It was good at hiding and would remain to hide from people who entered that store.
"Samuel, that child is a massive rumor amongst the area. How do we even know they're still alive? We haven't seen any evidence of such a child, just hearsay from people who have talked with us before."
"Yeah, but could you imagine what it would be like to find this kid? We would probably hear so many stories of what this kid has witnessed and what they have done to survive all this!" Samuel had claimed.
After the discovery of this station, your character frequently tunes into this station and started to listen to the rumors of this child. She wants to find and help the child as well and will stop anyone from taking this moment from her.
On the other side, my character (Derek), is feeling the same way. He wants to help the child and make sure they are safe. He is much like your character, who will stop anyone from letting him help save a child in need.

I'm looking for new wireless headset/phones after my Lucidsound ls15x broke.They were fairly good for the price i paid(40€ on amazon sale), but it broke after 1 year on one side and it was impossible to fix. I would have to wait for next sale to get them again for similar price as they are close to 90€ now.
Mostly used for games and music, so low delay is priority. I don't care about mic as i have separate one. Battery - at least 14h+ so they can play for at least day without charging.
What i have seen on my market:
- used Astro A50(sadly read a lot about build quality, and dock problems after a while, and that they dont sound good enough for their price),
- used Turtle Beach 700 gen 2(same as above, fall apart after a while, wireless problems),

I’m a 28 y/o woman living on her own in QLD and have been independent ever since moving to a new town which is less than an hours drive from where my family live and where I graduated. I’ve been extremely upset these past two-ish years every time I think about how none of my family even know where I live. The sadness is heightened as I’ve recently become sober within the last two years at a lot of underlying emotions and trauma memories are coming to surface which I’m managing.
I feel like I am always the one to put the effort in and commute to see them (which isn’t far hence why I’m upset). Anyways, so my sister is my best friend and I thought eventually she would come and see me as she got her license a few years back but she since has had a baby and she’s scared of highways so there’s more of a risk now, which I understand. As for my father, he never calls, never messages me, doesn’t know where I live. Over thee years I’ve updated my emergency contacts from family to friends to boyfriends back to family (just to paint a picture).
I feel like my family see me as this lost puppy that doesn’t know left from right. When I told my dad I got sober he told me he supported me in all my health endeavours.. which had a slight undermining tone in my opinion but nonetheless was appreciated and comforting to hear. He never once checked in over the next 15 months of my sobriety. it really didn’t surprise me though.. it’s just added to the pain.
Recently he called me (I’m still in shock and thought it was going to be about him or something he needed but to my surprise it was just a phone call???????), and we chatted about his recent trip which he really enjoyed. The subject of alcohol came up and I told him how I’d been 15 months sober to which he sounded amused. He then began to tell me I’m not an alcoholic and I should just “be happy”. Needless to say, I was fucking distraught.
Imagine going 10 years without a visit from your own family, THAT LIVE 45 MINUTES AWAY FROM YOU, meanwhile you get your life back on track, all to end up being invalidated and told that I’m basically overreacting.
There’s a lot more I could say and a lot of other factors that should be considered. All in all I think it’s important to say this for context: - No, I have no hurt my dad, sister and other family members in any way.
I feel it is important to share this as someone reading my post may think “well what have you done for them to not want to see you?”.. and to answer it as honestly and as simply as I possible can: Nothing.
Am I overreacting? TLDR

Alright, I ripped a piece of paper in half, torn gently down the middle, lengthwise, slightly off center to the left of center, and mindfully carried it from my bedroom to the trashcan in the kitchen. That was supposed to symbolize for me that Q12023 has ended and a completely new chapter has begun. The new chapter is going to require the same amount of planning, thought, and foresight as I had when I planned what life is for me right now, a few months ago.
I hope this post will come out as good as possible. I’m trying to articulate an advanced concept here. So bear with me. Also gonna pause and take a deep breath, in and out.
One thought that I’ve had, which I feel is really special, is the depth of my understanding of the multiverse. I feel like I am capable of explaining the concept in a way that will bring you to a very deep understanding of the multiverse, very quickly, so here goes. I guess the idea of the multiverse was introduced to me in fall 2020 during a Reiki session. I’ve since then expanded on it. Basically, every single moment is a world or a universe unto itself. Let’s not reduce it down to the level of seconds. Let’s say at, say, a one-hour time frame.
During any given hour of your life, you are focused on one particular thing. That hour, taken as a moment, is a world unto itself. Even though you’re for the most part one continuous person from day to day and hour by hour, you’re performing different selves for different situations. Perhaps especially clear if you planned a particular event or picked out a movie to watch or something like that. You had a specific set of values and priorities and goals and wishes on your mind at that moment.
There are all kinds of potential versions of ourselves that never come to fruition because we don’t live life mindfully enough and we don’t appreciate or realize that the version of ourself that is present during a particular moment, social event, or phase or chapter of our lives, is not necessarily guaranteed to endure unless we do something to keep ourselves mindfully focused on that environment. And partly why I was so confident that I was able to explain the idea of the multiverse to you is because I connect it to an idea I learned in library school about aboutness. The world is divided into different kinds of aboutness, and that’s what’s trying to be represented in something like the Dewey decimal system, where the 300s represent one aboutness, the 700s another aboutness. If you make a Pinterest board, each sub board is like a different aboutness of yourself. What if you took a moment and intentionally/mindfully decided to reflect on the meaning of one of your Pinterest boards and reorient your whole life around it?
Breakups can be hard for me because of the multiverse. There are points along the breakup processing journey where sometimes you just look out the window—and perhaps you imagine your ex just looking back at you through the window from the other direction, from a distance, maybe from another house. And it’s like, here we are, among all the multiverses possible, here we are looking at each other—will you always remember this moment, or will I be lost, trapped forever in a room of existence that no one even remembers exists. That reminds me a little of the idea of the homunculus (the little man inside your head). What if hell was being a homunculus trapped in a homunculus-sized prison in someone’s mind? You could scream as loud as you want and no one would even get to the point of thinking that you might even exist because we aren’t on the plane of thinking about stuff like that. You would feel so hopeless that you would ever be found or rescued.
I’m getting tired and may have to finish later. I think that I want the aboutness of my Q2 2023 to be the spirit of this one Pinterest board I made this week about a lacrosse game I went to. My best friend wasn’t there with me, but he said that if he had gone, he would have rooted for Providence College because he’s Catholic, and he imagines I would probably root for Brown. That is an aboutness and a place in the multiverse that I want to rearrange and reorient my whole life around. And I’ve never done that before—reached out of the normal, linear progression of chronological time and explicitly chosen to step out and away back into the multiverse. I’m going to do it now for the first time.
Something is so repugnant to me about this current experience of linear time that it strikes me as important enough to leave it and step out into the multiverse. Those people in that other group mocking me and insulting me and kicking me out and threatening me over the core idea behind this entire subreddit—posting that one gif over and over again. That one guy repeating the exact same tired, lazy criticism that Carl told me early in the 2010s—Carl’s words were, "Child. This is not Twitter." The thing is I don’t know anyone who uses Twitter the way I do, either, and this isn’t how I use Twitter.
I’m leaving linear time and going to another place in the multiverse to find my best friend. I love him and I’ve lost him. I’m going back to the lacrosse game. I know that among other things, public religiousness is one of the things that sets me apart from others. The idea of just casually talking about walking through the multiverse and leaving linear time is definitely an example of how sometimes I’m so casually religious (Reiki in this case). On the note of Reiki, I remember that the serpent, the animal my Reiki master said was my spirit guide, appeared to me in a dream a few weeks ago and appeared to lunge and me and try to bite me, so powerfully that I woke up screaming and trying to jump back. That was one of the last dreams I had in my old bed before I had to saw it down and the rest of my furniture and start moving. Maybe that was a sign.

My boyfriend (Josh, 19M) and I (20F) have been together for about a year and a half. When I first met his brother (Luke, 22M); there was no noticeable flirting or ‘energy’ between us; but over the past 6 months I would say I have gotten considerably more attractive than when I first met both my boyfriend and his brother. I’m not particularly sure if this is the reason why Luke is obviously more flirtatious, or if he’s just drunkenly having some teasing fun.
In the past 6 months I’ve noticed more chemistry (?? not the right word but I can’t think of another) between us. There are more innuendos coming from Luke towards me, more flirtatious banter, and especially when he’s drinking; more touching me. For example; Josh, Luke, their family, my best friend and I went out for a few drinks. On the way home in the car (Luke, best friend, and I), Luke sat behind me in the rear passenger seat. When we parked waiting for Josh and his family to get back, Luke would put his arms around me, hold and squeeze my hands etc etc. I’m not talking like a brief friendly hand squeeze, he would hold them/me for at least 2 minutes. I’m also not really sure if this is coincidental or not, but you know how people give you “fuck me eyes”? 100% he gives me them; especially after drinking. You can FEEL the tension in the air and I always look away because he never does.
The topic of conversation changed to a funny moment where I managed to fit an entire dessert in my mouth, & Luke recounted this by calling me “babygirl” (in a joking voice), and then “goddamn” under his breath. My best friend asked where my “gag reflex went” and I laughed and said I didn’t have one. Luke threw his hands up and goes, “Woah, woah, I don’t want to know about that”. There was another time where I was telling Luke about a story and absentmindedly accidentally did a motion that was similar to sucking dick, and he paused, smirked, and asked me in a jokingly sultry voice if I could do it again. I said No!! and then he laughed.
I decided to then bring up the whole situation to Josh and ask him for his opinion on whether or not he thinks Luke is into me or not, & also because obviously this is the most appropriate decision. Josh laughed and said that he’s just naturally affectionate and drinking just brings it out more, and that he’s not worried about it and I shouldn’t be either.
I seriously cannot tell if he’s just flirting with me jokingly because I’m his younger brothers first real girlfriend, & he’s just trying to wind him up, or if he’s actually serious, & is making dismissive comments like, “woah! I don’t wanna hear about that!” when the conversation gets explicitly sexual to get people off of his trail. (??)
What do you think?? Is it just brother VS brother? Or is he hiding something that comes out accidentally after drinking?
TLDR; My boyfriends brother may be secretly into me and hiding it until he starts drinking, then he gets significantly more flirty and touchy with me. Is it just a case of brother vs. brother, or something deeper?
