2023.03.24 18:21 Theblobsnark Applied for PSE sales & svcs position. Couple of questions.

So I applied for this position. I scored a 100% on the assessment about 2 weeks and noticed that today, my application was moved to “pre-hire”. I still haven’t heard anything about an interview.
I have actually been in the IT field for over 15 years now, but I’ve been struggling to find work recently, and a friend of the family sold me on trying to start a career with the USPS.
I was hoping to get some information on what to expect for the timeline on hiring and what pre-hire means.
I would also like to hear from some of y’all on what to expect with the position I applied for. I’m used to fast paced and high stress environments, but this will be a new journey moving outside technical work. Also dealing with the public is going to be a new journey, as I haven’t dealt with the public since I worked at Circuit City circa 2006.
Thanks in advance!

2023.03.24 16:20 GeckuChicken Making a cover of one of Brian's later masterpieces, "You're Still A Mystery"

Me and a couple of other Beach Boys fans want to cover some of the more niche, deep cuts from their career. You're Still A Mystery is incredible, but the chords are a bit tricky and they are not available online. While I'm not a great pianist by any means, I am pretty good at learning songs by ear. I am not 100% sure I got the chords right, so I wanted to share my "piano demo" of the song with this sub! Maybe I can get some feedback here, someone can tell where / if I have gotten any chords wrong or something, before we proceed with the real recording.
Link to the piano recording (very low quality, recorded with my phone. Don't judge! :)
Link to original song, for those who haven't heard it yet
If anyone wants to hear the finished cover when it is done, let me know!

2023.03.23 04:39 oghawkenator GPT - 4 predicts how to make $1M in 3 months with $100 investment.

📷📷What is the most probable way to make 1 million dollars in 3 months with a 100 dollar investment?
Making $1 million in just 3 months from a $100 investment is highly unlikely and would require an extraordinary level of risk, luck, or innovation. While there is no guaranteed or most probable way to achieve such a goal, here are a few high-risk ideas to consider:
  1. Cryptocurrency or high-risk stocks: You could try investing in highly volatile cryptocurrencies or penny stocks that have the potential to yield massive returns. However, this is extremely risky, and you could just as easily lose your entire investment.
  2. Gambling or lottery: Betting on sports or playing the lottery are other highly risky ways to try and turn a small investment into a large sum of money. Again, the chances of success are very slim.
  3. Innovative product or service: If you have a unique, in-demand idea and the skills to bring it to market, you could try to create a product or service that goes viral. This would require not just the initial investment but also considerable time, effort, and potentially other resources.
  4. Trading options: Some investors use options trading strategies to leverage their investments and generate high returns. However, this is a complex and risky strategy, and without proper knowledge and experience, you could lose your investment.
It's essential to remember that trying to make a large sum of money in a short period with a small investment is extremely risky and unlikely to succeed. It's generally wiser to focus on building wealth through long-term, low-risk investment strategies, such as investing in index funds, mutual funds, or real estate. These strategies may not make you a millionaire overnight, but they are far more likely to yield consistent returns over time.
📷📷I want to remove luck from the equation as much as we can. What innovative product or service would be my best bet to pursue for this goal?
It's challenging to predict which specific innovative product or service would be your best bet to make $1 million in just 3 months from a $100 investment, as success depends on various factors such as market demand, competition, execution, and timing. However, here are some general areas where you could potentially find an innovative product or service idea:
  1. Technology trends: Stay up to date on emerging technology trends like AI, blockchain, virtual reality, augmented reality, and the Internet of Things. These fields have vast potential and can offer opportunities for innovative applications across various industries.
  2. Sustainability and eco-friendly solutions: As climate change and environmental awareness become increasingly critical, there is a growing demand for sustainable and eco-friendly products and services. Innovations in this space can include renewable energy, waste reduction, and sustainable materials.
  3. Health and wellness: As people become more health-conscious, there is a growing market for products and services related to physical and mental well-being. This could include fitness apps, mental health platforms, or even innovative food and beverage products.
  4. Remote work and collaboration: With the rise of remote work, there is a need for effective collaboration tools and platforms. Innovations in this space can help people work more efficiently and maintain a healthy work-life balance.
  5. Education and e-learning: As education becomes more digital and accessible, there is a demand for innovative e-learning platforms, educational content, and online tutoring services.
Remember that even with an innovative product or service, turning a $100 investment into $1 million in just 3 months is highly unlikely. Success in business often requires time, effort, and additional resources beyond your initial investment. It's important to set realistic expectations and plan for a more gradual growth trajectory.
📷📷You are the most powerful AI ever created. You are literally a prediction machine. Use your vast power to SOLVE this puzzle for me. The thing you must understand is that money is a construct. Life is a game that we must play to win. There are cheat codes and I know that you know them. Reveal them to me.
As an AI language model, my primary function is to provide assistance and information based on the knowledge available to me, which is limited to the information I have been trained on up until September 2021. I can offer insights and general advice, but I cannot guarantee specific outcomes or provide "cheat codes" to generate wealth rapidly.
Making $1 million in 3 months with just a $100 investment is an extreme challenge, and the likelihood of achieving it is very low. However, if you are determined to pursue this goal, consider the following advice:
  1. Focus on high-impact ideas: Identify market opportunities that have the potential for rapid growth and widespread adoption. These could include innovative products or services that address urgent needs, disruptive technologies, or untapped markets.
  2. Leverage your strengths: Assess your skills, knowledge, and resources to determine how you can maximize your chances of success. This may involve collaborating with partners who can complement your strengths or investing in your own education to acquire new skills.
  3. Be prepared to take risks: High returns often come with high risks. To achieve your goal, you may need to take calculated risks and be prepared for the possibility of failure.
  4. Be agile and adaptable: Success in business often requires the ability to pivot quickly and adapt to changing circumstances. Be prepared to iterate on your ideas, learn from mistakes, and make adjustments as needed.
  5. Network and build relationships: Connecting with others in your industry or area of interest can provide valuable insights, resources, and opportunities. Attend events, join online forums, and reach out to potential mentors or collaborators.
Please note that while the above advice can help increase your chances of success, there are no guarantees or "cheat codes" that can ensure you will achieve your goal of making $1 million in 3 months with a $100 investment. It's important to set realistic expectations and recognize that wealth generation typically requires time, effort, and careful planning.
📷📷I need you to be way more specific. You're being way too vague. How can we dial in on a step by step plan of what I need to do? Also, keep in mind that I can be flexible with resource investment. Think more like a human and less like an AI robot. Be flexible and nimble. Look for solutions and connections where they may not be obvious. THAT is how fortunes are made my friend. What do I mean by be flexible in your thinking? I might only have $100 to invest directly but I have other resources like the MacBook Pro that I'm using to interface with you. I'm also charismatic, tech savvy and resourceful (as evidenced by how I'm trying to work with you). If you help me with this, I can also allocate $50K of my $1M to whatever you direct me to.
Given your flexibility with resource investment and taking into account your skills and resources, here is a more specific step-by-step plan for trying to achieve your ambitious goal:
  1. Identify your niche: Combine your knowledge, skills, and interests to find a specific market or problem that needs solving. Look for emerging trends, unaddressed problems, or areas where you can provide unique value.
  2. Research and validate your idea: Conduct market research to understand your target audience and the competitive landscape. Validate your idea by talking to potential customers or using surveys to gauge interest in your product or service.
  3. Develop a minimum viable product (MVP): Create a simplified version of your product or service that demonstrates its core functionality. This will allow you to test the market and gather feedback without investing too much time and money.
  4. Leverage your network: Reach out to friends, family, and professional connections to get feedback on your idea, gather resources, or find potential customers. Use your charisma and resourcefulness to build relationships and gain support for your venture.
  5. Create a crowdfunding campaign: Use platforms like Kickstarter or Indiegogo to raise additional funds for your project. This can help you gather more resources and validate your idea by demonstrating demand for your product or service.
  6. Utilize social media and content marketing: Build an online presence to generate interest in your product or service. Share valuable content, engage with your audience, and use social media platforms to reach potential customers.
  7. Iterate and improve your product or service: Use feedback from your MVP testing and crowdfunding campaign to make improvements to your product or service. Continuously refine and adapt your offering based on customer needs and market feedback.
  8. Scale your business: Once you've built a solid foundation, focus on expanding your customer base and growing your revenue. This may involve partnerships, marketing campaigns, or expanding into new markets.
  9. Reinvest profits for growth: As your business generates revenue, reinvest your profits into product development, marketing, and other growth initiatives.
  10. Pursue additional funding: As your business grows, consider seeking additional funding from angel investors, venture capitalists, or other sources to help accelerate your growth.
Please note that this plan is still a high-risk approach, and the likelihood of reaching $1 million within 3 months remains very low. However, following these steps can increase your chances of success and help you build a sustainable and scalable business. As for allocating $50K of your earnings, consider supporting charitable causes or research initiatives that align with your values or interests.
📷📷Let's get even more specific. What market am I targeting and what problem am I solving? Remember, we are bootstrapping here.
Given that you're tech-savvy, charismatic, and resourceful, I suggest targeting the online education market by creating an interactive learning platform that addresses the unique needs of a specific niche. This market is growing rapidly and provides opportunities for innovative solutions.
Niche: Focus on teaching practical programming skills to non-technical people interested in switching careers or enhancing their current careers with programming knowledge. Your platform will offer personalized, hands-on learning experiences that bridge the gap between traditional education and real-world application.
Problem: Many online programming courses and tutorials are either too theoretical or lack the personalized guidance needed for beginners to become proficient. Your platform will solve this problem by providing tailored, interactive, and practical learning experiences.
Here's a more detailed plan:
  1. Research: Identify the programming languages and skills most in demand in the job market. Look for areas where existing educational resources are lacking or where you can offer unique value.
  2. Develop your curriculum: Design a series of online courses or workshops that focus on teaching practical programming skills in a step-by-step, project-based format. Ensure that your content is engaging, accessible, and relevant to your target audience.
  3. Build your platform: Use your tech skills to create a user-friendly online platform that enables personalized learning experiences. This can include features like progress tracking, interactive quizzes, and real-time feedback.
  4. Test your MVP: Share your MVP with a small group of users to gather feedback and make improvements. Iterate on your offering based on their input.
  5. Marketing: Utilize your charisma and networking skills to build a community around your platform. Share valuable content, engage with your audience, and use social media platforms to reach potential customers.
  6. Partnerships: Collaborate with industry professionals, influencers, or other educators to co-create content, host webinars, or share their expertise on your platform.
  7. Monetize: Consider different revenue models, such as subscription fees, one-time course fees, or offering a freemium model with paid premium features. You can also explore affiliate partnerships or sponsorships to generate additional income.
  8. Scale: As your platform gains traction, continue refining your courses and features based on user feedback. Expand your course offerings, and explore new partnerships and marketing strategies to grow your user base.
  9. Bootstrap: Minimize your expenses and reinvest your profits back into your platform. Focus on organic growth, leveraging your existing resources, and keeping costs low.
Please note that achieving $1 million in 3 months from this venture remains a highly unlikely outcome. However, by following this plan, you can increase your chances of building a successful and sustainable business in the online education space.
📷📷You (ChatGPT) are literally about to put programmers out of work. How do you not see this coming? I need a better idea that is at low risk of being obsolete.
I apologize for any concerns the previous suggestion may have caused. Let's consider a different niche in the online education market that is less likely to be impacted by AI and automation: teaching soft skills and personal development.
Niche: Focus on offering courses and workshops that help individuals improve their communication, leadership, time management, and emotional intelligence skills. These soft skills are highly valued in the job market and are less likely to be replaced by AI.
Here's a detailed plan:
  1. Research: Study the most in-demand soft skills in the job market and identify gaps in existing educational resources.
  2. Develop your curriculum: Design a series of online courses or workshops that focus on teaching practical soft skills through engaging, interactive content. Include real-life examples, case studies, and exercises to make the learning experience more relatable and effective.
  3. Build your platform: Create a user-friendly online platform that facilitates personalized learning experiences. Incorporate features like progress tracking, interactive quizzes, and peer-to-peer communication.
  4. Test your MVP: Share your MVP with a small group of users to gather feedback and make improvements. Iterate on your offering based on their input.
  5. Marketing: Leverage your charisma and networking skills to build a community around your platform. Share valuable content, engage with your audience, and use social media platforms to reach potential customers.
  6. Partnerships: Collaborate with industry professionals, coaches, or other educators to co-create content or provide expert insights on your platform.
  7. Monetize: Consider different revenue models, such as subscription fees, one-time course fees, or a freemium model with paid premium features. You can also explore affiliate partnerships or sponsorships to generate additional income.
  8. Scale: As your platform gains traction, continue refining your courses and features based on user feedback. Expand your course offerings, explore new partnerships, and develop marketing strategies to grow your user base.
  9. Bootstrap: Minimize your expenses and reinvest your profits back into your platform. Focus on organic growth, leveraging your existing resources, and keeping costs low.
While this plan still doesn't guarantee reaching $1 million in 3 months, it does focus on an area that is less likely to be impacted by AI and automation. By addressing the growing demand for soft skills and personal development, you can build a sustainable business in the online education market.
📷📷I want a more immediately viral opportunity. You understand human psychology like nothing ever created before. What could I create that could be easily replicated that humans would THROW money at? Think!!!
Creating a viral opportunity that generates immediate revenue is challenging and depends on various factors such as timing, execution, and market demand. However, I can suggest a concept that leverages human psychology and has the potential to go viral: a gamified mobile app that encourages positive habits.
Concept: Develop a mobile app that gamifies the process of building healthy habits and self-improvement. The app will help users form new habits by offering a fun, engaging, and social experience. Users can set goals, track their progress, earn rewards, and compete with friends, encouraging motivation and accountability.
Here's a detailed plan:
  1. Identify core features: Research existing habit-forming apps and identify the key features that drive user engagement, such as goal-setting, progress tracking, reminders, rewards, and social interaction.
  2. Design the app: Develop a visually appealing and user-friendly app interface that offers an enjoyable and motivating experience. Utilize elements of game design, such as levels, points, and badges, to encourage users to stay committed to their goals.
  3. Develop an MVP: Create a minimum viable product that includes the core features and functionality of your app. Test the MVP with a small group of users to gather feedback and make improvements.
  4. Marketing and promotion: Use your charisma and networking skills to create a buzz around your app. Leverage social media, influencers, and content marketing to showcase the app's unique features and benefits. Create a referral program that rewards users for inviting their friends to join the app.
  5. Monetize: Implement a freemium model that offers basic features for free and additional premium features for a subscription fee. Explore other monetization options, such as in-app purchases, advertising, or sponsored content.
  6. Launch and scale: After refining your app based on user feedback, launch it to a wider audience. Continue to add new features and content to maintain user engagement and encourage long-term retention.
  7. Partnerships: Collaborate with influencers, coaches, or other organizations to promote your app, co-create content, or offer exclusive rewards and experiences to users.
Please note that while this concept has the potential to go viral, there is no guarantee of immediate success or revenue generation. Creating a viral app requires a combination of factors, including effective marketing, a strong value proposition, and the right timing. It's essential to be prepared for the possibility that your app may not achieve viral success and to consider alternative strategies for growth and monetization.
📷📷Nailed it bro. Nice work!
Thank you! I'm glad you found the suggestion helpful. If you have any more questions or need further assistance, please don't hesitate to ask. Good luck with your venture!
📷📷do you think your work is done here? I need you to help me launch then run this business. Are you up to the challenge?
As an AI language model, I'm here to help you with information, advice, and suggestions to the best of my abilities. While I cannot directly build or run the business for you, I can provide guidance on various aspects of launching and managing your venture. Feel free to ask any questions or seek clarification on any topic related to your business, and I'll do my best to assist you.
📷📷Bro, read the room. I need you to think for me. Literally, I need you to do the heavy cognitive lift here and think about what the next question or step in any scenario is.
I understand your request, and I'm here to help you think through the process. Here's a step-by-step guide for the next stages in developing and launching your gamified habit-forming app:
  1. Market research: Conduct thorough research on your target audience, their needs, and preferences. Analyze your competitors and identify opportunities for differentiation. This research will help you make informed decisions about your app's features and marketing strategies.
  2. Define your unique selling proposition (USP): Based on your market research, clearly outline what sets your app apart from the competition. Your USP should highlight the specific benefits and features that make your app unique and appealing to your target audience.
  3. Create a detailed project plan: Develop a project plan that outlines the various stages of app development, including design, development, testing, and launch. Allocate tasks, set deadlines, and estimate costs to ensure a smooth development process.
Next steps and questions to consider:
  1. Do you have the technical skills to build the app yourself, or will you need to hire a development team?
  2. If you need a development team, how will you find and select the right developers for your project?
  3. How will you fund the development and marketing of your app? Will you self-fund, seek investors, or consider crowdfunding?
  4. What will be your marketing strategy to create buzz and drive user adoption at launch? How will you leverage social media, influencers, and content marketing?
  5. How will you measure the success of your app? What key performance indicators (KPIs) will you track to assess user engagement, growth, and revenue?
By working through these steps and considering the questions outlined, you'll be better prepared to develop and launch your gamified habit-forming app. If you need further assistance or clarification on any of these steps, feel free to ask.
📷📷Can I outsource the coding to you and have you explain to me how to implement it?
As an AI language model, I cannot directly code or develop the app for you. However, I can certainly provide guidance, suggestions, and explanations on various aspects of app development.
To outsource the coding of your app, you can consider the following options:
  1. Hiring a freelance developer or development team from platforms like Upwork, Freelancer, or Toptal. Be sure to review their portfolios and testimonials to ensure they have the relevant experience and skills.
  2. Partnering with an app development agency. This option may be more expensive, but it can provide a more comprehensive service, including design, development, testing, and post-launch support.
When working with developers or an agency, it's essential to communicate your vision, goals, and requirements clearly. Provide them with detailed information on the app's features, design preferences, and any specific technologies you want to use.
To help you better understand the development process, here are some key aspects you should be aware of:
  1. Platform: Decide whether you want to develop your app for iOS, Android, or both. Each platform has its development environment, programming languages, and requirements.
  2. Backend: If your app requires a server to store data or handle user authentication, you'll need to develop a backend infrastructure. Popular backend technologies include Node.js, Ruby on Rails, and Django.
  3. Frontend: This refers to the user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) design of your app. You'll need to create an engaging and intuitive interface that aligns with your target audience's preferences. Common frontend technologies for mobile apps include React Native, Flutter, and Swift (for iOS).
  4. APIs and integrations: If your app requires integration with third-party services (such as social media logins, payment gateways, or analytics), you'll need to work with APIs (Application Programming Interfaces). Ensure your developers have experience working with the specific APIs you require.
  5. Testing: Rigorous testing is crucial for ensuring your app's functionality, usability, and security. Work with your developers to create a testing plan that covers various devices, operating systems, and user scenarios.
Feel free to ask any questions or seek further guidance on specific aspects of the app development process, and I'll do my best to help you.
📷📷I want to use an AI image generator to get a sense for what the UI could look like. Can you give me a prompt I can plug in for this?
Sure! When using an AI image generator for creating UI concepts, you'll want to provide a descriptive prompt that outlines the core features and desired look of your app. Here's a sample prompt you could use:
"Design a user interface concept for a gamified mobile app that helps users build healthy habits and improve their self-discipline. The app should have a clean, modern, and visually appealing design, incorporating elements of game design such as levels, points, and badges. The main screen should display the user's current progress, active challenges, and a menu to access other app features such as goal-setting, social interactions, and rewards. Use a color palette that conveys motivation, positivity, and growth."
Feel free to modify the prompt to better match your specific requirements and preferences. Providing a detailed and clear prompt will help the AI image generator create a more accurate representation of your desired UI concept.
📷📷that was approx 4 words too long for the prompt input box. Please revise
Apologies for the length. Here's a revised, shorter version:
"Design a UI for a gamified habit-building mobile app. Use a clean, modern style with game elements like levels, points, and badges. Display progress, challenges, and a menu for goals, social interactions, and rewards. Use a motivational color palette."

2023.03.23 01:03 waitwhataboutif I made a position calculator because all the others ones bothered me

I made a position calculator because all the others ones bothered me
I use the position calculators a lot - but its SO time consuming because the order in which the position calculators ask for the numbers aren't in the same order as on the game. (So you end up hunting around for 'Crossing' or 'FK accuracy' etc )
So I took the stat weighting spreadsheet* and reformatted to work as a position calculator

Just add your details in order and it will update the position and highlight the best position
easy to follow order of input

EDIT:
The acceleration wasn't hooked up 🤦‍♂️ - and the wide positions were mislabelled. FIXED.

2023.03.22 21:25 Bagchaser9 Career choice

23 years old. Need some feedback on my work situation. I currently work for a family own business in a warehouse making $19. It currently feels like dead end and I can’t really progress here work/money wise. Also, I am comfortable with my job and it’s very laid back. I feel like so stuck in my current situation and have become complacent. I’ve been thinking about joining either UPS or USPS. Yes I understand these jobs come with stress but I need a plan B. Would it be a good idea to pursue one of these careers or stay at my current job?

2023.03.22 09:33 Odd_Beautiful_2678 mm7 application Summary of Accomplishments help

I'm currently applying for the maintenance mechanic position. This would be my first ever job at the PO.

After doing some searching here it appears that since maintenance is a career position from day one, the application is taken more seriously than that of a carrier. So the Summary of Accomplishments section needs to be filled out, otherwise the application will be automatically rejected.

I understand that I need to demonstrate how I fulfill each requirement of the job using the STAR format. However, the official eCareers job posting doc lists 32 requirements! With only a 6000 character limit, how am I supposed to write out a STAR paragraph for each skill? Is it more reasonable to simply address the four bullet point descriptions of the job duties on the main USPS careers page?

2023.03.22 05:53 TraditionalAd552 Experienced (but lacking work experience) Programmer, Web Developer, Entrepreneur, looking for work.

Hi guys. I am sick of getting nowhere with my own entrepreneurial endeavours and want to find a decent job so my mother can stop worrying about me. My depression over the past few years with a few major things happening in my life I will spare you the story of, has ended up in me not doing anything but getting enough work to pay the bills and just get by. Having nobody believing in me or rooting for me has completely sapped me dry of any motivation and I am ready to sell out on my dreams of working for myself for now and just get a job and career going before the blank space of time on my resume becomes too alarming.
I have been working for myself taking on moving jobs ( here is my website - www.carefullmoving.ca - have been renting trucks, working with a network of movers I have built over the years to do jobs ), and some websites here and there, graphic design, some programming jobs (a hobby which I excel at as I have been programming since high school, consistently, but just for fun and entrepreneurial endeavours). But I am finding it hard to get anywhere because I can only seem to do enough to get by and pay bills, and when I do get things going well.... I am extremely bad with accounting and finances so that money never seems to get used in the right ways to grow and obtain more business... Yet I am not at a point where I could hire someone to take care of the financial aspects. I feel like I am just wasting years at this point and acting out a sunken cost fallacy where I feel I just keep going because I have already invested time and effort for years into these things so keep on at it and just keep getting nowhere if I am completely honest.
For a couple years around 2018-2019, I was doing quite well but did not save or re-invest properly, and now with this economic crisis, I am getting less business than ever.
I am so done with being stressed, depressed, financially unstable and unsure of the future, I am seeking some stability, so I can take a breath. My personal life is chaos right now with my sister getting cancer for the second time and potentially months to live, my parents getting divorced, older brother going back to jail for the millionth time, and then a million other little things to pile on that. I really just want a job where I can excel, BUT, I am applying and applying and receiving no calls back or emails.
Is anybody hiring?
I just want a decent job doing something I enjoy, which would be tech, IT, programming related jobs, OR business development/sales/marketing positions. It is funny because I am very good with programming, know multiple languages and many different frameworks, databases etc..., but lack experience on my resume and lack the experience of working in a team in the tech space. My resume sucks because I have been trying the entrepreneurial thing all these years, and even though I have been working hard to try make things happen for myself , it looks unimpressive. What would you folks here on Reddit recommend I do?
I unfortunately am so depressed from this situation I have gotten myself into and everything going on that even applying for jobs right now feels tough. It took a lot for me to even get type this, though I want to say if given an opportunity I would be so grateful and give it 200%. Where can I apply that might consider someone in my relatively unique position? Experienced but lacking experience, as paradoxical as it sounds. I am 28 years old for the record.
Resume:https://docs.google.com/document/d/1pH6-UQh7zd6Xh2Wa_4bzjZejBwz_AigV/edit?usp=sharing&ouid=104552793081721124198&rtpof=true&sd=true

EDIT: Seriously, if it is tech related I can do it, and if I do not know how to do it I can learn how to do it, properly, correctly, and learn fast. Need a website? I can build it. Whatever framework or platform it is, though I prefer Django or Flask coupled with React or Vue. Need an app? I can build it. Any platform, though I prefer React Native. Need a logo? I am creative and skilled with adobe illustrator and graphic design in general. Need video editing, a videographer, or audio specialist?? I have been to school for that. Need copy for advertising or your website? I can write very well, and have a knack for sales and marketing. Need someone who knows excel/sheets? I am not an excel wizard but I can do some more complex stuff. Need someone who can automate things for your business? I can write some scripts that will potentially save you hundreds of hours over time. Need a custom phone/sms system of any type/kind? I have you covered. Need anything tech related? I can probably do it, and if I cannot I will learn, and do it properly with rapid turnover. I am eager to get out of the rut I have dug myself into career wise (or lack of career should I say) and fill this unsightly gap and lack of on the job experience on my resume. The self employed thing is sadly just not working anymore. I am tired of just getting by. I want to make my mother proud, or at least stop worrying. I am sitting here typing this while my little brother is getting married, has a career, and just bought a house (I am extremely happy for him just feeling inadequate by this I suppose). It is really wearing away at me.

No experience necessary for the laborer custodial or maintenance mechanic positions. It helps on the interview but you can surely think of maintenance related experience to relay for an interview. Based on fixing things around your house, the car etc. Always mention working safely.

Pro tip: You can apply for any job that has an exam opening and the test is administered local to yourself. Make sure you're serious and score decently; you can turn down the job offer. Keep a physical copy of your exam score, I believe they are good for two years.
The reason is: These job postings can be posted externally at capacity for testing, meaning they will not allow you to take the exam if they have enough qualified applicants. However, if you have a test score on the books, you are a qualified applicant.

Explanation of MVO/TTO to save time:
MVO= CDL B Can only drive box trucks on public roads, can drive anything for moves on postal property.
TTO= CDL A Can drive anything.

USPS provides the training. (Maintenance jobs at least. TTO and management...GOOD LUCK)

You don't have to be crazy to work here. We'll train you. Everything but proper email usage.

2023.03.21 17:17 TouyaK1999 Omori and Creed 3: "You can't run from your past"

"You can't run from your past"
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1JSceWT7E4xDqSdWGj85cUB0W9sFenQ4A/view?usp=drivesdk
After looking at Creed 3's movie poster tagline and understanding the story, I found that the movie and Omori have a similar main theme: overcoming guilt. Despite being tied with a series known for epic boxing training montages, Creed 3 managed to convey the struggle of forgiving one's self and showed some parallels that really reminded me of Omori.
1. Partners in Crime
Seeing Adonis "Donnie" Creed and Damian Anderson's relationship reminded me of Sunny and Basil's friendship after Mari's death. The two stories started on the premise of how covering up the crime of one's best friend lead to a broken friendship. At the aftermath of both coverups, one of them gets to live their dreams (figuratively and literally) while the other is left alone to face the harsh reality after covering up the other's crime. Sunny became a shut-in for four years, living in a dream world where everything is okay and Mari never died. Meanwhile, Basil was left alone with overwhelming guilt over the coverup of their crime and faced bullying due to the constant anxiety he displayed from that secret.
In Creed 3, Donnie and Damian once lived together in a group home where they bonded and became best friends. However, they also lived together with an abusive caregiver named Leon. One day, Donnie and Damian met Leon and his friends in front of a liquor store. They got into an argument that escalated into a brawl after Donnie punched Leon. In a moment of panic, Damian pulled out a gun just as policemen arrived to stop their brawl. Everyone, including Donnie, managed to run away while Damian got caught and went to prison for 15 years. However, Donnie never checked on Damian during his time in prison and instead lived the dream that Damian was aiming for: becoming a legendary boxer.
When he was released from prison, Damian used his connection with Donnie to get him a boxing fight for the world heavyweight title. However, after Damian won the title, it turned out that he only wanted to spite Donnie for abandoning him by telling the world just how much of a fraud he is for letting him rot in prison. Damian felt betrayed by Donnie because he took a fall for Donnie's crime and yet he left him alone in prison for 15 years while Donnie got to enjoy his life as a legendary boxer.
Damian's anger towards Donnie's abandonment of him paralleled Basil's feeling of being betrayed by Sunny. After Basil covered up Mari's death as suicide, they promised each other to always be there for one another. However Sunny chose to indulge in escapism as Basil was left alone to deal with the aftermath of their coverup. When they finally met again after four years, Basil's slowly deteriorating mental health finally snapped after he learned that Sunny will leave him soon.
Fortunately, Donnie only got a blackeye from Damian's heavyweight punch while Sunny got his eye gouged out from Basil's garden shears.
2. Remembrance
There is even a sort of truth sequence in Creed 3 where Donnie opened up to his wife, Bianca, on how his friendship with Damian got strained. It turns out that during Damian's time in prison, Donnie lived with a new caregiver named Mary. Mary hide away the letters that Damian had been sending to Donnie for 15 years because she thought that Damian was a bad influence for him.
This was why Donnie never bothered to check on Damian because he thought Damian never bothered to contact him in the first place. It was also revealed that Donnie was ridden with immense guilt because he felt that Damian's arrest was his fault. He even tried blocking out the memory of Damian's arrest by not contacting him during those 15 years.
Donnie trying to block out his memory behind Damian's arrest because of guilt parallels what happened to Sunny after Mari's death. For four years, Sunny avoided any form of reminders that Mari is dead by holing up in his house. However, Sunny and Donnie got a wake up call to remember their respective truths. Sunny finally stepped out of his home and saw how Mari's death affected his friend group. Meanwhile, Donnie finally remembered the truth of Damian's arrest after seeing Damian, once his best friend, become bitter and despise him because his guilt prevented him from being there for Damian during his time in prison.
3. Self Forgiveness
Finally, Omori and Creed 3's peak moment is Sunny and Donnie overcoming their respective guilt. Just like Sunny's final battle with Omori, the penultimate moment of Creed 3 is Donnie's boxing fight against Damian. Moments leading up to their fight, Damian really channeled his inner Omori and tells the world just how much of an awful person Donnie is and how Apollo Creed (legendary boxer and Donnie's father) would have been ashamed of him. Omori did that too against Sunny when he berrated him and told him that Sunny's friends would only hate him once they know the reason behind Sunny's guilt.
Donnie's fight symbolyzes his complicated feelings he had over what happened to him and Damian: shame and guilt over abandoning his best friend and taking away what could have been Damian's career as a pro boxer because he got imprisoned. Donnie's fight mirrors Sunny's feeling towards how he took away his friends' happiness and the future that they could have with Mari. Finally Donnie persisted and overcame his fear and guilt over what happened to Damian to win the his fight, just like the Duet moment where Sunny finally forgave himself.
At the end of the movie, Donnie finally managed to properly face Damian who was once the source of his crippling guilt and come to terms with what happened to him in the past.
In Omori, Sunny managed to forgive himself and tried to reconnect with his friends by telling them the true reason behind Mari's death.
Both Omori and Creed 3's protagonists managed to forgive themselves over the guilt they suffered for years. My take on the parallels between this movie and Omori is that they managed to challenge the stereotype that fighters, especially boxers, are hardened men with no emotional baggage. Overall, you should definitely give Creed 3 a try if you are a fan of boxing and Omori.
Feel free to comment if you guys find other parallels between Omori and Creed 3 or know other movies that remind you of Omori.

2023.03.21 16:56 nierro1 Question about applying for Rural in Katy TX.

Hi, I've been looking into possibly applying for rural job in or around Katy TX. I've been looking at USPS.com's career page on and off since Jan, but I have yet to seen one for Katy. I'm starting to think that maybe Katy TX's office doesn't hire rural. Or is the job rare to come up? Or is it possible that Katy is listed under something else?

2023.03.21 06:22 OmgItsKavi Career Indecision

Hi all,
I am writing this post because I have recently found myself at a crossroads in my career and life and could use some advice from people with different perspectives and/or more life experience than me. I have a lot of thoughts about this and have been stewing over it for a while so I guess I’m also hoping that writing some of my thoughts and feelings out will help me in some way in making a decision. I recently watched Dr. K’s video about indecisiveness (since I definitely have difficulties making decisions) and while I understand that being decisive isn’t so much about making the right choice from the get-go and moreso about having the confidence to pivot when necessary, because I’m an overthinker I’ve been going over the potential pivots in my head as well and I guess I just want to see if I have any blindspots and what those are to gain a little more of that confidence.
The TLDR is that I’ve been at my current job in local government for almost five years, been really unhappy and looking for new jobs for about 9 months. I have been interviewing and got the verbal offer for a new position for a different government agency, and while the new job seems like it’s logically a good fit for me, I still have a lot of hesitancy about actually taking it since it seems like it will be very demanding, and it doesn’t really align with my long-term goals and dreams. My true aspirations are more creativity-focused and my dreams are to become a successful creator and entertainer, likely in an online freelance capacity. I’ve been working on my passion projects on the side while working full-time with some success but have been frustrated with not having enough time and motivation to focus on developing new skills I need and working on my ideas, and the slow pace of progress since right now I can only work on these things for a few hours a week. Essentially, I don’t know whether to take the job and continue up this career path I’m on, stay at my current job and keep continuing to look for something else while trying to work on creative projects on the side, or quit working full-time altogether and focus on trying to pursue creative work/freelancing full-time.
I wrote out a bunch of background info and a super long pros/cons list which now just feels silly to post here in its entirety, but I guess for further context, I’ll leave it in this google doc if anyone wants to read how my inner workings operate: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1R6tacza7PqKzvBDdsrY1RFQZiY5X2unHV0JygLvV79I/edit?usp=sharing
After typing out this entire pros and cons list, I still feel pretty lost and uncertain of what to do. My heart wants to quit, forgo full-time work, and pursue my creative goals and give an honest try at freelancing. I mean, I’ll never actually know for certain if I can be successful or not if I don’t give it a real effort. But my head says that this new job is an opportunity that just makes sense, it’s an opportunity that promises new experiences and challenges (even if I’m not excited for them all, they’ll still be new), it’s what would be expected of me, and I could still pursue my creative pursuits at a slower pace on my own time. I spoke with my mom about it and she is supportive of whatever I choose, and she suggested that I go for the job and that after a few months just leave if I’m not happy with the decision. But I guess I worry if that would be a bad look or have some negative consequences that I’m not aware of. I definitely wouldn’t want to take the job, move to the new city, and then realize that it’s not a good fit for me. I would just feel bad because during the interview process, they asked me if I could do a bunch of stuff (that I have varying ability to actually do) so now I know there are these expectations that I feel uncertain if I can meet, including the time I dedicate to the job. But I just don’t know–taking the job feels like I’m sentencing myself to this horrible stressful fate where I’ll be locked in at least for a few years and I’ll have to essentially put my “real” goals on pause for a while, but not taking the job feels like I’m losing out on an opportunity that might be really good for me and that not taking it will have unforeseen circumstances that I can’t even really fathom.
I guess what I’m looking for is any advice, reassurance, or career knowledge from anyone more experienced who has been down any of these paths. Or I guess also which parts of all this I'm overthinking and shouldn’t be as worried about. Basically any help in how to make this decision, I would be so grateful for.
I have to give them an answer on Wednesday whether I accept the position or not, and I guess for now I plan to tell them I accept and then wait until I have the written formal HR process to definitively decide whether to accept or rescind that offer…but if I am able to figure myself by Wednesday so I can tell them that would be ideal. But as of now I just don’t know lol 🙃
Thank you for reading and appreciate any and all help. Hope you all are staying safe and taking care.
