Take vitamin D supplements with fat-containing meals/snacks. Morning or evening, paired with quality fat sources for optimal absorption.
Vitamin D is an essential nutrient for your health, but it can be hard to get enough from food or sunlight alone. That's why many people choose to supplement with vitamin D pills or drops.
But when is the best time to take vitamin D? Does it matter if you take it in the morning or at night? The answer might surprise you, as it largely depends on your individual needs and lifestyle habits.
In this blog post, we'll explore the benefits and drawbacks of taking Vitamin D in the morning versus at night, and take a look at the advantages of using an organic liquid multivitamin as a source of this crucial nutrient. Read on to learn more about how to optimize your Vitamin D intake for optimal health.

Why You Need Vitamin D

Vitamin D is a nutrient that your body needs for building and maintaining healthy bones. It helps your body absorb calcium and phosphorus, which is essential for strong bones.
In addition to its primary benefits, this Healthline article suggests that vitamin D may also play a role in reducing the risk of multiple sclerosis (MS), regulating mood and reducing depression symptoms, supporting weight loss, and reducing the risk of certain diseases.
Low levels of vitamin D can lead to problems like osteoporosis, rickets, infections, depression, and chronic pain.

How Much Vitamin D Do You Need?

The recommended daily intake (RDI) of vitamin D for adults is 600 IU (15 mcg). However, some experts suggest that this may be too low for optimal health and recommend higher doses of up to 4,000 IU (100 mcg) per day. The best way to find out how much vitamin D you need is to get a blood test and consult with your doctor.

How to Take Vitamin D

Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin, which means it needs fat to be absorbed by your body. Therefore, you should always take vitamin D with a meal that contains some fat, such as eggs, cheese, nuts, seeds, avocados, or oil. This will help you get the most benefits from your supplement.

When to Take Vitamin D: Morning or Night?

There is no clear evidence that taking vitamin D at a specific time of day makes a difference in its effectiveness. However, some people may have personal preferences based on their lifestyle or sleep quality. Some people like to take vitamin D in the morning because it can boost their energy and mood for the day. It also reduces the potential risk of sleep disturbance.
Others prefer to take it at lunchtime or evening when they have high-fat foods that can enhance their absorption.
You may want to avoid taking vitamin D at night because it can interfere with your sleep. This is because vitamin D may affect the production of melatonin, a hormone that regulates your sleep-wake cycle.
Taking vitamin D too close to bedtime may make it harder for you to fall asleep or stay asleep. This statement is solely a result of the people’s experience. There is no research to confirm this.

The Bottom Line

The best time to take vitamin D is when it fits your schedule and preferences. As long as you take it with a meal that contains some fat and don't exceed the safe upper limit of 4,000 IU (100 mcg) per day without medical supervision, you should be able to enjoy its benefits for your health.

2023.03.06 19:48 TheIllandTheAd I just completed a home sleep study (Itamar) and I can't make heads or tales of my results. I also have some concerns it might not be accurate. Could anyone chime in?

I completed an Itamar home study (my somnologist doesn't believe in lab studies). I had 22 pRDI (35.2 REM/16.1 NREM), 15.4 pAHI 3% (30 REM/9.2 NREM), 8.1 ODI (18 REM/4 NREM), 10 pAHI 4% (doesn't differentiate REM from NREM here). My nadir was 86, but I only spent 2 minutes below 90 (0.5% of total time). I had 42 events of desaturation under 5-10%, 2 events 10-20%. My mean nadir was 90%.
I got a call from my doctor's office, saying she wants to discuss this with me, because they're "very concerning", but from what I gather online, this is not that bad.
I am concerned that this isn't accurate because I had TREMENDOUS difficulty sleeping with this thing. It took me a good three hours of tossing and turning before I fell asleep at 7:30 AM with it with the aid of a sleeping pill. And I could have sworn that I had only slept 1 hour, but my doctor's tech (who tracked the process) said I had actually slept close to 5 hours. I distinctly remember my doctor saying she needed at least 6 hours of sleep to be confident with a sleep study, but now both the tech and my doctor are saying 5 is enough.
Also I felt like my sleep was very, very poor, much more shallow than usual. I did not wake up well-rested at allllll (when, typically, I always do). Could this interfere with the results?
Thank you to everyone in advance!

VITAMIN B7 BIOTIN BENEFITS THE WHOLE BODY INCLUDING YOUR HAIR
https://preview.redd.it/htjq6pfrthja1.png?width=731&format=png&auto=webp&s=9339a1017e398750413cd8c38165e265f97838e5
Biotin acts in the body as a coenzyme required for the metabolism of fatty acids, amino acids and glucose. This means that when the food we eat is a source of fat, protein and carbohydrates, biotin (also known as vitamin B7) must be present in order to convert and use these macronutrients.
Our bodies then have the energy they need for physical activity, proper mental function, and growth.
The benefits of biotin include helping us achieve a youthful, attractive appearance, as this vitamin plays an important role in maintaining the health of our hair, nails and skin. In fact, it's sometimes called the "H" vitamin. This is derived from the German words Haar and Haut, meaning "hair and skin".
What is biotin?
Biotin, or vitamin B7, is a water-soluble vitamin that is part of the B vitamin complex - a group of key nutrients needed for healthy metabolic, neurological, digestive and cardiovascular function.
Vitamin B7/biotin deficiency is rare in countries where adequate calorie and food intake is common. This is mainly because of three reasons:
The recommended daily requirement is relatively low.
Many biotin foods are commonly consumed.
The researchers believe that our gut's digestive bacteria are capable of making some biotin themselves.
biotin products
Biotin products have recently become a trend among consumers looking to have longer, healthier hair and nails. If you wish to take a biotin supplement for this purpose or for other health improvements, you have several options such as: biotin pills, biotin vitamins that include other B vitamins, skin care serums and lotions that contain biotin, and biotin Vegan shampoo.
Supplements are available over the counter in tablet or capsule form, and you can also find liquid biotin online or at your local vitamin store.
Vitamin B7 is also available as part of a B-complex supplement, which includes the full range of B vitamins, including vitamin B6, vitamin B12, vitamin B2 riboflavin and vitamin B3 niacin. Together, the B vitamin complex supports metabolic activity, brain function, nerve signaling and many other important daily functions.
Vitamins also work together, so taking B vitamins together is always the best way to ensure you get the best results.
Biotin for hair growth?
Thinning hair is a symptom associated with biotin deficiency, but as mentioned above, this deficiency is rare.
Additionally, vitamin B7 is commonly added to hair and skin beauty products, although it is not thought to be well absorbed by the skin. Some research shows that you get the greatest biotin benefits when you get it from food sources (such as B vitamin foods) or supplements.
What's the best way to get biotin from your diet? By eating biotin-rich foods -- like organ meats, eggs, avocados, cauliflower, berries, fish, beans, and mushrooms.
The benefits of biotin do seem to help build the proteins needed to maintain youthful hair and skin, including keratin.
At least several studies, including one published in Dermatology Research and Practice and another in the Journal of Clinical and Aesthetic Dermatology, have found evidence that taking daily supplements including biotin for about 3-6 months helps Helps promote hair growth and reduce hair loss/shedding.
One of the studies found that subjects taking supplements containing biotin experienced overall hair volume, scalp coverage and hair thickness after 90 days and hair shine, skin hydration and skin Days of improvement in smoothness.
A 2017 review focused on the effectiveness of biotin for hair growth, stating that "we found 18 reported cases of biotin use for hair and nail changes. In all cases, patients receiving biotin supplementation had underlying pathology of poor hair or nail growth. All cases showed evidence of clinical improvement after receiving biotin."
That being said, based on the review's conclusions, biotin supplements may only be truly effective if someone is deficient (again, this is rare).
benefit
  1. Supports a healthy metabolism
Biotin regulates the expression of genes critical for carrying out metabolic functions. Vitamin B7 and other B vitamins are needed to convert the food you eat into usable energy that supports a healthy metabolism.
It does this in several ways:
It converts glucose from carbohydrates and sugar sources into usable "fuel", which is the body's preferred source of energy.
It helps the body use the amino acids in protein to perform a variety of bodily functions.
It activates fatty acids in fatty foods such as oil or animal fat.
If there is not enough vitamin B7 in the body, symptoms of a slow metabolism may occur, such as low energy levels, fatigue, weight gain, digestive problems, possible development of diabetes, changes in appetite, depressed mood, and more.
Normal, healthy metabolic activity occurs only when the body is able to use the macronutrients in food for energy. Vitamin B7 also improves glucose metabolism and utilization, providing some protection against insulin resistance/type 2 diabetes.
  1. Can improve glucose intolerance and help balance blood sugar
Vitamin B7, especially when combined with chromium, has been shown to help lower blood sugar in people with diabetes. This is especially true for those whose blood sugar (sugar) levels are not well controlled with prescription medications.
Biotin benefits blood sugar levels because it boosts the activity of insulin, a key hormone needed to bring blood sugar back into balance. A better insulin response helps reduce the risk of large swings in blood sugar levels, which can lead to prediabetic symptoms, type 2 diabetes, weight gain and forms of metabolic syndrome.
Biotin reduces the expression of an enzyme that stimulates the liver to produce glucose, so less sugar is released into the blood. For this reason, vitamin B7 deficiency is associated with impaired glucose tolerance and decreased glucose utilization, which are risk factors for diabetes.
Vitamin B7 can also help reduce symptoms of existing diabetes cases, including nerve pain.
  1. Maintains healthy hair, skin and nails
Vitamin B7 is necessary to maintain healthy skin, hair and nails, so when someone is deficient in vitamin B7, symptoms may manifest as thinning, splitting and brittle hair, or dermatitis that leads to dry, irritated skin.
How Does Biotin Help Hair Growth? Taking a biotin supplement (or "vitamin for hair growth," as some supplements may be marketed) can help reverse this vitamin deficiency and support the production of proteins and enzymes needed for hair growth.
Biotin is beneficial for hair as it has been shown to help reduce alopecia (hair loss) in adults and improve protein synthesis and the infrastructure of keratin, the protein that makes up hair, skin and nails. Keep in mind that studies have shown that deficiencies in other nutrients like zinc, selenium, and iron can also contribute to thinning hair, not to mention that many health conditions like hormonal/endocrine imbalances can be to blame.
Taking high doses of biotin can also help treat brittle hair and brittle nails, according to research. In fact, this benefit of vitamin B7 was first discovered when horses were effectively treated with biotin to correct brittle and cracked hooves.
Other biotin benefits include helping to protect the skin from acne, fungal infections, rashes, and severe dryness and cracking.
An important thing to note is that although biotin is included in many cosmetic creams, hair masks, and other over-the-counter beauty products, it appears to be more effective when ingested/consumed rather than applied topically.
  1. Protects Brain Function and Fights Cognitive Decline
Biotin benefits nervous system health due to its role in nerve signaling and neurotransmitter activity. Together, B vitamins affect memory function and ward off age-related cognitive impairment, such as Alzheimer's disease or neurodegenerative diseases such as dementia.
Due to their role in the synthesis of hormones associated with mood regulation, B vitamins like vitamin B7 help maintain a positive mindset, boost energy and improve focus.
  1. Helps Maintain a Healthy Cardiovascular System
B vitamins like vitamin B7 play a role in preventing common causes of heart disease, including inflammation, atherosclerosis (or plaque buildup in arteries), heart attack and stroke.
According to some studies, vitamin B7 and chromium together can help improve cholesterol levels. Vitamin B7 has been shown to have the positive effect of increasing "good" HDL cholesterol while helping to lower "bad" LDL cholesterol and triglyceride levels.
This is especially true for diabetics who are prone to heart disease.
  1. Supports Thyroid and Adrenal Function
B vitamins such as vitamin B7/biotin are necessary for proper thyroid activity and to prevent adrenal fatigue. The thyroid gland and adrenal glands are the "master" glands responsible for many bodily states, including hunger, sleep, pain perception, mood, and energy.
A deficiency of B vitamins can lead to thyroid and adrenal complications, which can produce many negative symptoms such as fatigue, weight gain or loss, trouble sleeping, and more.
That being said, there is evidence that taking very high doses of biotin can cause incorrect results on various thyroid/endocrine lab tests, so it is important to work with your doctor if you have a history of thyroid dysfunction.
  1. Need to build and repair tissue and muscle
The benefits of biotin include aiding in the growth and maintenance of body tissue, including helping to repair and build muscle. When tissue or muscle is broken down, B vitamins such as Vitamin B7 Biotin restore muscle and tissue strength to promote growth.
B vitamins also help reduce inflammation that can lead to muscle or joint pain, pain, or difficulty moving. What's more, a deficiency of vitamin B7 and other B vitamins can stunt growth and lead to stunted fetal and infant development.
This is one reason why getting enough vitamin B7/biotin and all other B vitamins is critical during pregnancy.
biotin deficiency
As mentioned above, biotin deficiency is rare, but it can happen. Dry, irritated skin, brittle or thinning hair, lack of energy or chronic fatigue, or digestive and intestinal problems are all possible signs that you may not be getting enough biotin.
According to an article published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, some of the root causes of biotin deficiency include:
Pregnant
long-term use of certain antiepileptic drugs
excessive drinking
Consume lots of raw egg whites
smokes
long-term use of antibiotics
Intestinal malabsorption problems or serious digestive disorders, such as Crohn's disease, celiac disease, or leaky gut syndrome
Drug interactions can also lower biotin levels in the body. Certain medications—including the skin medication isotretinoin (Accutane), which is used to treat acne—may decrease the activity of vitamin B7. Unusually high doses of other B vitamins (such as pantothenic acid) can also lower vitamin B7 biotin levels.
Vitamin B7 levels may also be affected if someone is taking anti-epileptic drugs or oral antibiotics, or if they have a digestive disorder known to disrupt normal levels of gut bacteria.
Supplementary dosage
Most healthy adults meet their biotin needs through a balanced diet. Keep in mind that in supplement form, common biotin doses range from 1,000 micrograms to 10,000 micrograms, which is well above your daily recommended value, or the amount considered an "adequate intake."
Due to lack of sufficient evidence, no "recommended daily intake" (RDA or RDI) for biotin has been established. According to the National Institutes of Health, "adequate intakes" (levels assumed to ensure nutritional adequacy) for different age groups to reap the benefits of biotin are as follows:
5 micrograms per day for infants
Infants 7 months to 3 years 6-8 micrograms per day
Children 4-13 years old 12-20 micrograms per day
Teens 25 micrograms
Adults 30 micrograms for men and women over 19 years of age
30 mg for pregnant women, 35 mg for lactating women
How much biotin should you take for hair growth? The appropriate dose depends on several factors, including your age and whether you are biotin deficient.
When it comes to the benefits of using biotin for hair loss/growth promotion, you can start by taking 1,0000 micrograms of biotin per day and increase the amount of biotin in your food intake throughout the day. The general recommendation is to try to gradually increase your intake to about 2.5 to 3 mg (or 2,500 to 3,000 mcg) per day, which will meet your needs, and then add some more.
If you want to try biotin supplements, start with smaller doses and gradually increase if you notice positive changes. Remember, not all types are created equal.
To get the most biotin benefits, buy a high-quality multivitamin or supplement product that's made from real food sources and contains no fillers or toxins to get the most benefit. These are made by combining different synergistic nutrients so your body recognizes vitamins and minerals and can use them in a synergistic way—similar to how they appear in food sources.
Risks and Side Effects
Are there any side effects of taking biotin? Biotin side effects are rare because this vitamin (like other B vitamins) is water soluble, which means it travels in the blood and any excess or unused amounts present in the body pass through the urine discharge.
As a result, the body does not accumulate biotin reserves and it is difficult to consume too much or reach toxic levels.
Few side effects have been reported at doses less than 10 mg per day. Therefore, taking biotin pills or supplements is considered safe when doses are within the recommended amounts.
That being said, mild adverse effects such as indigestion, nausea, cramping, or diarrhea may occur. If someone takes very high doses for an extended period of time, they may experience biotin overdose symptoms such as a rash, decreased vitamin C and B6 levels, and increased blood sugar levels.
Bottom line? As with all B vitamins, very high doses of vitamins from supplements can affect other people's doses, so it is always recommended that you only take the recommended dose unless otherwise advised by your healthcare professional.
final thoughts
Biotin, also known as vitamin B7, is a water-soluble vitamin that is part of the vitamin B complex - a group of key nutrients needed for healthy metabolic, neurological, digestive and cardiovascular function.
Biotin benefits include supporting your metabolism, glucose tolerance, heart health, muscle and tissue, and skin and hair health.
Does it work for hair growth? Limited research shows that this vitamin helps reduce alopecia (hair loss) in adults and improves protein synthesis and the basic structure of keratin, the protein that makes up hair, skin, and nails, among other biotin benefits.
Vitamin B7 deficiency is rare because it is found in many common foods such as meat, fish, cheese, beans, nuts, eggs, and more. In supplement form, the recommended dosage range is about 1 mg to 3 mg (or 1,000 to 3,000 micrograms) per day, which will meet your daily needs and then some.
What are the side effects? Side effects are rare, but when taken in very high doses, may include indigestion, rash, decreased vitamin C and B6 levels, and increased blood sugar levels.

Ingredients of Java Burn

Java Burn is coffee that also contains a few substances that are frequently found in weight-loss pills, although the majority of them are inferior and only helpful when used in conjunction with exercise.
  • Vitamin D: 100% of the RDI for vitamin D is included in the Java burn’s 20 mcg of vitamin D. There are some advantages to this; however, as only 50% of Americans are deficient, testosterone levels in men might contribute to weight gain. As you already know, vitamin D supplements can also enhance athletic performance. For this reason, it’s frequently included in fat-burning supplements for sporty guys trying to lose weight for a show, the summer, or other events.
  • Vitamin B6: Like vitamin D, vitamin B6 is found in several fat burners but is only provided as a bonus because it helps help with energy but not much with metabolism. When you are already on a calorie-restricted diet, which makes individuals fatigued, it does help to increase energy levels, which is a positive.
  • Vitamin B12: Vitamin B12 5mcg performs a similar role to B6 in Java Burn. A water-soluble member of the B complex, vitamin B-12. It can be naturally found in a variety of foods, including dairy, fish, and meat. A nutritional supplement and food additive both contain vitamin B-12.
  • Chromium: Chromium has been demonstrated to have some effect as an appetite suppressant, which makes it helpful for weight loss. It’s still a good addition to the java burn formula.
  • Green Tea Extract: Although it’s present in several of the better fat-burning supplements, green tea extract 300 mg is typically regarded as a middle-tier component. Even the greatest fat burners include it as a nice extra.
  • Green coffee bean extract: Green coffee bean extract is once again a powerful supplement, but it only supports weight loss when combined with a calorie-restricted diet. People who were dieting did better, and many people have remarked that using green coffee bean extract made calorie restriction much easier.
  • L-Carnitine: An amino acid derivative called L-carnitine has a big impact on how much fat the body contains. It decreases the possibility of developing fatty liver since it aids in the burning of extra visceral fat around internal organs.
  • L-Theanine: Studies have indicated that L-Theanine helps regulate blood sugar, which can aid with cravings by preventing blood sugar surges.

How is Coffee related to Losing Weight?
There are various arguments over the effects of coffee on weight loss. Some claim it helps people lose weight, while others claim it has no effect.
It would help if you researched coffee’s effects on weight loss. Since caffeine substantially impacts metabolism, it might aid in weight loss.
Caffeine causes thermogenesis, which causes your body to burn many more calories than usual and results in weight loss.
However, if you drink coffee in the morning, the fat-burning will last the entire day. Coffee may lessen appetite and food cravings and foster a feeling of satiety.
The fat loss rate of those who drink two or more cups of coffee a day is faster than the fat loss rate of persons who don’t drink coffee. Additionally, black coffee has more caffeine than sweetened and frothy coffee drinks.

2023.01.08 00:28 veglord69 My Complete Prepare-in-Advance FMD Copycat Diet (for 135 lbs)

My Complete Prepare-in-Advance FMD Copycat Diet (for 135 lbs)
I wanted to get the most benefit I could from FMD, so I adjusted the macros for my bodyweight and added more fresh food and greens. I also wanted to remain in keeping with my whole foods plant based diet.
I tried to use as many of the same ingredients that are in the Prolon kit and match the calories/macros. However, I adjusted some ingredients to suit my personal requirements and reduce blood sugar spikes from the potato and rice starches used in the Prolon soups.
It takes about half a day to prepare everything, and you can double the recipes and freeze for a later round.
The soups fit perfectly into 32oz mason jars, 2 servings per jar. If you're freezing for storage, don't use mason jars, they'll be too full. Or use less water.
I used Cronometer to adjust all the nutrients. I like prepping in advance because when you're past day 1 it's a real hog to try to prepare a meal. Also I really like the way Prolon organizes the week so I wanted to stick to that as much as I could. Hope this is useful for some of you, and let me know if you have any questions. Eventually I'll adjust these recipes for the 170 lbs average that Prolon uses.

5 day fast mimicking diet recipes for 2 people at 135 lbs
The below recipes, used according to the schedule above, provide the following macros:
Day 1 - 894.9 calories, 17.1 g protein (6%), 77.2 g carbs (50%), 46.7 g fat (43%) Day 2 - 608.3 calories, 11.6 g protein (7%), 60.6 g carbs (53%), 29.7 g fat (40%) Day 3 - 585.8 calories, 13.3 g protein (8%), 50 g carbs (48%), 31.2 g fat (44%) Day 4 - 608.3 calories, 11.6 g protein (7%), 60.6 g carbs (53%), 29.7 g fat (40%) Day 5 - 600.8 calories, 13.3 g protein (8%), 50 g carbs (47%), 32.7 g fat (45%)
Breakfast granola / Fast Bar replacement - 209 calories, 4g protein, 6g carbs, 19g fat Makes 10 servings, 35g each
60g creamed honey (warmed to liquid) OR 1+3/4 Tablespoon of maple syrup 40g flaxseed (blended) 60g almond butter 10 t inulin powder (perhaps reduced to 5t?) (I use Heather's Tummy Acacia Fiber) 40g macadamia nut 60g pecans 70g walnuts
Mix first 4 ingredients until uniform. (I hand mix these because it gets too much air in it with the food processor). Then add to the food processor with all the nuts and blend until desired consistency is achieved. Leave as a raw granola or form into bars and store in the fridge, or bake like a granola (300F stirring every 15m until desired browning is achieved.
Flax Seed + Kale Crackers - 81 calories, 4g protein, 3g carb, 5g fat Makes 10 servings You can also use Mary’s Gone Crackers Original Crackers instead of making these, it works out to 9 crackers per serving :)
30g kale raw 1 t fresh basil 10g garlic 1 T apple cider vinegar 30g sesame seeds 40g chia seeds 30g flax seeds 1/2 t dried oregano 1/2 t onion powder 1 t cumin seed 1/2 cup water or less
In a food processor, blend flax first then add all ingredients to form a dough. Add water slowly as needed to hold shape and form crackers. Scoop out small balls ( I used a 1” cookie scoop for 80 crackers) and press flat with wet fingers (1mm), dehydrate/bake at 160 degrees for 2-3 hours.
Tomato soup - 43 calories, 2g protein, 6g carbs, 0g fat Makes 6 servings
360g Organico Bella whole peeled tomatoes (canned) (or 100g of whole red tomatoes) 180g red bell pepper 72g red onion 6g garlic 9 c low sodium vegetable broth/water (365 organic or kettle & fire) 2 t dried basil Black pepper Any additional spices you prefer (eg. salt, cloves, oregano, bay leaf, etc.)
Simmer everything together until veggies are soft then blend. Divide evenly between 3 x 32oz mason jars, top off with broth/water. Store in fridge. Serve with kale flax crackers and top with; 1 t fresh basil (2g) 10g of arugula micro greens
Dinner Vegetable Soup - 145 calories, 3g protein, 27g carbs, 1g fat Makes 10 servings
12 c vegetable broth/water (365 organic or kettle & fire) 100g onion 700g summer squash 200g celery 10g garlic 70g leeks 500g sweet potato 3 t turmeric powder 18g cooked brown short grain rice (pre-cooked, add last) Any additional spices you prefer (eg. salt, bay leaf, etc.)
Simmer ingredients, add precooked rice once veggies are cooked then blend. Divide evenly between 5 x 32oz mason jars, top off with broth/water. Store in fridge. To serve top with; 2 T sauerkraut 1 t fresh parsley or basil
Mushroom Soup - 77 calories, 3g protein, 12g carbs, 0 fat Makes 4 servings
100g mushroom mix (365 organic mixed mushrooms, frozen) 6 cups mushroom broth (or vegetable broth, 365 organic or kettle & fire) 40g onion 6g garlic (2 cloves) 12 g cooked brown short grain rice (pre-cooked, add last) Any additional spices you prefer (eg. kombu, bay leaf, black pepper, etc.)
Simmer all ingredients, add rice last if precooked, blend. Divide evenly between 2 x 32oz mason jars, top off with broth/water. Store in fridge. To serve, top with; 1 tsp parsley

L-Drink recipe
0.245 grams of food-grade glycerine per kg of bodyweight added to 32oz water, sipped throughout days 2-5. For 135 lbs, that amounts to 15g of glycerine per day.
Vitamin Pill
Multi vitamins often have mega doses of most components, whereas the NR-1/Prolon has about 25% of of RDI per day. This isn’t the easiest approach but currently I split the Naturelo Men’s One Daily (which provides 100%) into 4 servings per pill with a micro scale. This is pretty close to the NR-1 quantities.
Substitutions
Arugula sprouts and broccoli sprouts are interchangeable, could also be subbed for kale sprouts. My sauerkraut is a homemade red kraut with ginger and arame, it doesn’t affect the macros much so feel free to replace with store bought live kraut, or just skip it. 2 T is 10 calories. Basil and parsley are interchangeable, or skip them. Dark chocolate can be subbed for 70 more grams of avocado. Total 150g avocado on day 1.
Algae oil brand I use is Sports Research Omega-3 Plant Based Algae Oil. Olives are Divina Whole Kalamata. Blueberries are 365 Wild Frozen Organic.

2022.12.10 11:48 amlak1 5 years later, I finally feel better!

I am writing this post hoping that it helps at least one person. I would argue that my experience with brain fog and related symptoms has been on the extreme side. I will be brief as I know how difficult it can get to focus on long text.
My symptoms started 5 years ago. I am not sure exactly what the primary cause was, but it was a period with plenty of stressful events. As time progressed more and more symptoms started to show. I will list first the symptoms in chronological order, then I will list the things that I tried to do to solve them. I will keep this short but happy to share more details if questions come up.
1) eczema-like rash on my arms and legs. It was itchy and scaly. 2) bloating and water retention. 3) muscle loss and inability to exercise properly. 4) extreme brain fog and head pressure. 5) congestion most of the day. 6) fatigue almost all day long. 7) panic attack like feeling in my chest. 8) very poor sleep, particularly deep sleep, as measured by smartwatch and multiple sleep studies. 9) very depressed mood, inability to focus, very short temper.
What I did to try and diagnose and resolve the issues: 1) dietary changes like cutting out sugars, carbs, caffeine and processed foods. I tried intermittent fasting and even keto for a long time. Some things helped to a certain degree but nothing was permanent. 2) dietary supplements: the list is too long to share, but the bottom line was nothing worked, except one (i’ll share below). 3) probiotics: these actually made things worse. And when I found out the right diagnosis, its clear why they made things worse. 4) blood works: everything was fine and inline with expectation. 5) Allergy testing: nothing significant really except allergies to rye grass. But I traveled a lot and my symptoms were there regardless of the environment. 6) antidepressants and such: nothing worked effectively. 7) sleep aid: nothing worked effectively. 8) stimulants: they worked to a certain degree, but of course they will! 9) deviated septum surgery: I had a very deviated septum, so i did a surgery and it helped a little with sleep and symptoms improved by 20% but things were far from good. 10) sleep studies: my AHI was 7, my RDI was 12. So it wasnt sleep disturbance but my deep sleep ratio was 7 or 8% of total sleep time, when it should have been at least double or triple that. 11) CPAP: it didnt work and i couldn’t tolerate it. 12) Visited more drs and therapists: neurologists, ENT surgeons, musculoskeletal, mayofacial, allergists… etc. Nothing worked. 13) Allergy medications, nasal rinse and sprays: what I had tried up to this point did not work. All was over the counter medication.
Then coincidently, I came across this post: https://www.insights4print.ceo/my-4-year-long-fatigue-issue-and-how-i-recoverred/
And the following day I had a surgeon ENT consultation. While the dr was trying to sell me to redo my nasal surgery to perfect airflow, I pushed the theory of allergies as the cause of head pressure and mentioned all the medications that I took. He suggested that I try “Levmont 5/10” as it is the newest allergies medication out there. I immediately went out and got it from the pharmacy and bought Bromlain (mentioned in the above blog post) and took one pill before time along with the usual routine of nasal rinse and spray.
I HAD NOT SLEPT THAT WELL IN YEARS!
I was finally onto something, so I started to investigate further.
Long story short, I believe what I have is histamine intolerance. Please refer to a book by Dr. Janice Joneja called “The beginner’s guide to Histamine Intolerance” for more details into this. She also has some podcasts on youtube for a quicker breakdown. The way to confirm this theory is by doing a low histamine diet. I have always felt that my symptoms were correlated with what I consumerd. But I never was able to pinpoint what the culprit was, especially that histamine intolerance is particularly vulnerable to be triggered by foods touted as healthy such as cheese, yogurt, kefir, other fermented foods and probiotics.
I am still taking the antihistamine and bromlain for now, but according to Dr. Joneja long term consumption of antihistamines can cause counter effects, so I am planning to stop that soon. We will see whether the improvements stay after stopping. However, my observation thus far has been that over the past month or so, sticking to/breaking this diet has had the highest correlation to my symptoms and sticking to a low histamine diet has me feeling normal again thank God.

2022.06.28 14:33 AnathemaMaranatha Danny Deever --- RePOST

Something I posted on reddit six years ago. Sorry it's so long.

Danny Deever

They are hangin' Danny Deever, you must mark 'im to 'is place,
For 'e shot a comrade sleepin' -- you must look 'im in the face;
Nine 'undred of 'is county an' the Regiment's disgrace,
While they're hangin' Danny Deever in the mornin'.
Rudyard Kipling, “Danny Deever,” Barracks Room Ballads
Cowardice
It is a rough thing to call a man a coward. Fighting words, even if true. Maybe especially if true - the truer such a thing is, the more likely the coward will panic and attack. There is a good probability that he’s more afraid of his cowardice than he is of you.
So it’s a dicey business, talking about cowardice. But it’s been on my mind lately.
This is one story about Cowardice in three episodes. It stars a man I’m going to call “Danny Deever,” because... well, he’s the star. He was the 7th Cavalry “Regiment's disgrace.” He never shot anyone. But some people wanted to execute him anyway, mostly for not shooting anyone. He is a strange memory to me - infuriating, despicable, shameful. Also oddly helpful to me at a time in my life when I needed to know the true nature of cowardice.
Forward Observing
I had spent my first year in Vietnam as a gypsy artillery Forward Observer, meaning I wasn’t permanently attached to any particular unit. I traveled around shooting artillery for units that had outrun their own artillery, that had lost their FO for one reason or another, that had some need for an artillery specialist. That was me. I had called in the big guns in every kind of terrain Vietnam had. I had seen a lot. I was about 20 years old.
Consequently, after a year in-country when I transferred down to III Corps in the jungles between Saigon and the Cambodian border and joined the 1st Cavalry Division, I expected things would be different, but the last thing I expected to see was something new. Life lesson: there’s always something new.
I was assigned to shoot artillery for a light infantry company in the boonies. They were doing azimuth-and-cloverleaf patrols in and out of the bush and the ruined rubber tree orchards of the Michelin Corporation. We were in flatlands, couldn’t see squat. Good ambush country.
I usually stayed with the Command Post (CP) when we were on company-sized patrols, close to the company’s Commanding Officer (CO), a captain - I was his artillery guy, and by then a 1st Lieutenant. We were patrolling in single file, point platoon first. Pretty soon after I arrived, point ran into some North Vietnamese Army (NVA) troops bopping down a trail. Some firing up ahead of us in the line. I got on my radio and started lining up a battery of howitzers.
As I was busy with that, I saw the damnedest thing. As soon as the firing started, one of the CO’s radio operators (RTO) dropped flat on the ground. I mean, all of us ducked a little when we heard firing, but this guy went spread-eagle face down on the ground - even turned his head sideways to make a lower profile. I thought he’d been hit.
Nope. Nobody else reacted. When the CO called for his radio, the RTO reached behind his back - without lifting his head up - got the handset and threw it in the direction of the CO. The CO caught it in a way that made me think he had previously perfected his skills at catching tossed radio handsets, and proceeded to communicate with Battalion HQ.
I didn’t know WHAT to make of the RTO’s behavior. What the hell? When the firing stopped - no artillery needed - our captain decided to move the CP up to point. He kicked the boot of his spread-eagle RTO, who commenced to run from cover to cover in a crouch, while the rest of us just walked up the trail. When the CO finally told everyone in the CP to stay put for a minute, the RTO hit the ground again - same spread-eagle posture.
At some point the RTO decided the danger was over, and he resumed walking around like a normal person.
I was the newbie in the company - I was meeting a lot of guys. I noticed nobody associated with the RTO we’re calling Danny Deever. People gave him orders, instructed him on which radio freqs were current, checked his ammo and made him take his malaria pills, but he was otherwise pretty much ignored. Took me a while to realize that was because everyone wanted to kill him.
Understandable. I didn’t feel that way (yet) because I simply could not believe that I had seen what I had just seen. It looked like rank cowardice. Couldn’t be. No American soldier was that craven, right? What was he even doing out here in the field?
The Regiment’s Disgrace
Some time later I got the whole story from the CO and the Exec. Deever had failed to qualify for conscientious objector status - he wasn’t opposed to all wars, just the Vietnam War. Not good enough. That left him with the option of mutilating himself or going to Canada. He didn’t want to do either of those things. So he decided to tough it out. Two years in, and all of this unpleasantness would be behind him.
He also decided that he wasn’t gonna die in that stupid war. Evidently he talked too much, because he sorely pissed some people off. The next thing he knew, he was on his way to Vietnam. He learned to be careful in his caution. He never actually ran away, never failed to show up for guard duty or convoy protection or whatever he considered dangerous. They couldn’t get him for malingering (he was there!) or desertion or failure to do his duty. If he was on guard duty, he would always have one eye on the treeline while the rest of his body was behind sandbags. What were they going to prosecute him for? Excessive defilade? Hyper-caution? Taking cover in an over-eager fashion?
Even so, you cannot cross the Powers-That-Be without consequence. He was sent to an infantry platoon in the field. Took him a while to get oriented - he was the RTO for a squad - but then he came up with a solution. Take cover. He was NOT willing to get wounded or killed for this vile little war. Or for God and Country. Or even for us.
That last part is what nearly got him killed. The first time he splayed himself out, he nearly got kicked to death by his squad. He survived that, but he was a marked man. His fellow soldiers were incoherently furious with him. I mean, plenty of them had peace signs on their helmets. Some wore beads and peace medallions. They were all eager to get back Stateside and join the Peace Movement because, because... well, y’know, that’s where all the cool girls were... also peace. Sounded good, right? Theoretically.
But not here. Not now. This war wasn’t about the geopolitical challenge of Communism. Wasn’t about Democracy versus Tyranny. Wasn’t about Mom and apple pie. It was about US and THEM, and who is going to die first. Deever wasn’t willing to fight for us, and that was unforgivable. What was this craven bastard even doing up here at the tip of the spear? He was gonna get himself killed - no room here for guys who won’t fight.
Which was the point, I guess. Our CO, a Nisei captain with a Special Forces battle patch, explained it to me. “They sent him up here to die. They know me, and they sent him here anyway. They expect me to let him be killed. No.” Then he said something in Japanese (I’m guessing). I gave him a quizzical look. “Dishonor,” he said quietly. Then louder, “DISHONOR!” First time I ever heard him raise his voice. Then he calmed down. “I will not let them kill him under my command.”
Ah. Yes sir. Got it. Won’t bring it up again.
So Deever came up from the maneuver platoons into the company CP as the Captain’s RTO. There he stayed until he rotated out. He never stopped hitting the dirt at the slightest hint of danger. Did his two years, didn’t pop his eardrums, didn’t go to Canada, didn’t go to jail, did what he had to do, and nothing more.
He made me furious too, every damned time he splayed himself out on the ground. Was contemptible. It was personal. If he wouldn’t fight for us, what was he even doing here? I assume he wondered the same thing. I am a peaceable man, and I wanted to kill him.
Still do, a little bit - just by remembering all this stuff. I wonder how he is now? I wonder if he found something he’d fight for? I hate to say it, but I bet he did. Damn it. Just saying that makes me mad, again. He’d fight for that - whatever it is - but there he was, among us, and he wouldn’t fight for us. Fuck him.
Still, seems almost brave, what he did, standing up to all that contempt and anger. It’s confusing. Even now.
Shotgun - "Shoot 'im 'fore he runs now..."
Strange to think of American soldiers running away. Not a new thing, though. Here’s an excerpt from Stephen Crane’s The Red Badge of Courage about a time when the nature of war favored the soldier who knew when to fight and when to run away:
“The tall private waved his hand. ‘Well’, said he profoundly, ‘I've thought it might get too hot for Jim Conklin in some of them scrimmages, and if a whole lot of boys started and run, why, I s'pose I'd start and run. And if I once started to run, I'd run like the devil, and no mistake. But if everybody was a-standing and a-fighting, why, I'd stand and fight. By jiminey, I would. I'll bet on it.”
Makes sense, no? Run too late, and you’re a dead man or a prisoner. Run too soon, and you’re a coward. Hard to grok that the difference between courage and cowardice could be a matter of timing. Even so, the idea of American soldiers running away was alien, impossible. Not us.
The American boys in Vietnam were raised - like me - on the idea that American soldiers don’t run. They never ran in any of those old black and white movies, or TV shows. It was an item of faith with us, I guess, sort of unquestioned really. The North Vietnamese and VC might run. The South Vietnamese ARVNs and RF/PF might run. But not us. No way. Not sure who decided that.
Of course, there was nowhere to run to, so I suppose that kind of reinforced our determination. We really had no choice. Stand and defend the firebase. Hold your company position. No other options. Where you gonna go? Out into the jungle? Alone? Bad idea, foreigner. You don’t blend.
Our air-mobile infantry (well, cavalry actually) battalion had a “Recon Platoon.” I put it in quotes, because I’m not sure this was even authorized. The guys in the Recon Platoon were all technically assigned to the regular maneuver companies. They had been selected by our Battalion Commander, a Lieutenant Colonel, for their military skill sets, detached from their companies and formed into the Colonel’s own, pet commando group.
We were all required to wear helmets - statistically most of the fatal wounds in Vietnam were head wounds. But helmets were little noisemakers too, so reconnaissance units were excused from the Division order. The Colonel excused his boys, too.
They got special weapons, submachine guns with collapsible stocks, AR-15's and some kind of burp-gun. They had shotguns. They had all kinds of nifty gear and knives. They were better than the rest of us, and they acted like it.
Okay. I didn’t know any of these guys, but maybe they were special-special forces. I didn’t care. I only saw them a couple of times. We certainly could’ve used some of those weapons - point teams were always jonesin’ for a shotgun - but fine. We’ll just grunt it out. Let the cowboys be cowboys.
The last time I (or anyone else) saw the battalion Recon Platoon was when we were tearing down a firebase. The artillery had left, and the engineers were flattening everything and salvaging what could be salvaged. They’d helicopter out in the evening, and our company would man what they had left of the firebase perimeter positions, mostly to keep the local villagers from looting the remains and stealing the engineers’ heavy equipment.
The engineers had knocked holes in the concertina wire and tanglefoot - the berm was mostly intact, but torn open in spots. Not really defensible. We were clearly located by all the daytime activity. The North Vietnamese knew exactly where we were. They had attacked this firebase with a regimental-sized unit earlier in the summer. Didn’t work, but they had scouted out the territory. We were pretty exposed.
Not to worry. The Colonel sent us his super-soldiers. They flew in and headed for the treeline. They were supposed to do daytime patrols into the immediate jungle, then at dusk break up into four Listening Posts (LPs) just inside treeline. We didn’t see them at all, after they came in. Our CP was in contact with them by radio - hourly whispered sitrep requests from their Platoon Leader or Platoon Sergeant to LP1 or 2 or 3 or 4, which were answered by a squelch, nothing more.
About the third night of this, we were getting close to finished. The engineers were going to wind up the wire tomorrow, and lift out their heavy machinery. Tomorrow night we could head for the bush and go back into stealth mode.
About midnight, there was shooting and explosions in the treeline. The next thing the perimeter knew there were figures coming through what was left of the wire shouting “Americans! Friendlies in the wire!! Don’t shoot!!”
Sure enough, here came the Recon Platoon. Running flat out. Minus their bush hats. Minus their weapons. Minus their packs. Some of them minus their boots and shirts. All of them yelling to beat the band and bound for the safety of the berm.
Turns out we should’ve shot them. Here’s the deal: For the last three nights we had no LPs at all. They were having a picnic out there, all gathered together literally shotgunning dope and having a good old time. Then a North Vietnamese recon unit had crashed the party, and our heroes had booked it for the wire. Didn’t even stop to chat.
That was the story that was winkled out of them overnight inside the wire. By morning, we had all heard it. The Colonel had instructed that at first light, the Recon Platoon would be required to “borrow” weapons from our company, then go out and see if they could recover their equipment. By “borrow” the Colonel meant that each man had to go to individual soldiers from our company and ask to borrow his weapon.
Most of our guys turned them down. I’ve never experienced that kind of unit cohesion. There was always a lot of hippie talk in our ranks - Hope Uncle Sam isn’t too fond of this pack and rifle, ‘cause if I need to get out of somewhere fast, I’m not carrying anything extra! I didn’t get drafted to be some kind of hero!
Yeah, no. Draftees, enlistees, professionals - we were all of one mind. Utter contempt for the Recon Platoon. The guys who were willing to lend them weapons were not much kinder. “Don’t you lose that one, too! Bring ‘er back to me. Y’all seem to be careless people.”
They left the wire half-armed. And guess what? They found all of their stuff, right where they left it. Weapons, packs, grenades, ammo, porn, shotgun-bong, rolling papers - ALL of it. Turns out the NVA weren’t expecting them to be there. The NVA patrol ran just as hard the other way.
By the time they got back in the wire, the Colonel had helicoptered in. They were disbanded on the spot. They gave us our weapons back, put all of their weapons in a cargo net, and boarded a gaggle of choppers, weaponless, missionless, useless cowards, headed back to the rear area for assignment somewhere that did not require courage or faithfulness.
I have to say, it was hard to watch them. I even felt sorry for them. Not our grunts. Those guys had left them without protection, then they ran away. It was an unimaginable betrayal. The grunts watched with steely eyes. Nobody even wanted those nifty weapons. They were tainted, I guess. I thought so too.
Deever was one of the guys who lent out his rifle to them. The CP RTOs were sitting on sandbags watching the Recon Platoon file onto helicopters. One of the CP Sergeants said [paraphrasing], “Deever, you gave them your rifle. Not like you were using it, but howcome? Is it because those guys are on your side? They didn’t want to fight either.”
Danny didn’t take offense. He looked thoughtful as he watched the helicopters leave. “No. Not my people. They said they would protect us. Then they dropped their weapons and ran. They would’ve left us high and dry. Fuck those guys.”
The CP people looked surprised, but nobody said anything. Some of them nodded.
Backward Observing
All this Vietnam stuff stuck with me when I got home. I struggled to make it less important and make the career and family I had acquired more important. I was not succeeding very well. I staggered through school, got a degree and a dream job in a beautiful part of Colorado.
I couldn’t make the job matter, couldn’t seem to do the easy work that I was assigned. I was just augering in for about a year. Finally, I couldn’t stand myself any more. Thirteen years after Vietnam, I decided that I was a worthless piece of shit doing more harm than good for the people who were depending on me. Time to go.
So one morning, I stayed home from work. I had already gotten a handgun. It was time.
And I couldn’t do it. Hands and arms wouldn’t work. I was floored. I couldn’t believe it. I had no alternative course of action, this was my last resort. Turns out I had no resort. I just sat there, numb and dismayed until my wife came home and transported me up the nearest VA Psych Ward. I sleepwalked through it as they processed me in, took all my stuff, gave me blue pajamas, plastic slippers and a garishly-striped bathrobe.
I was utterly defeated. I had expected to be dead by now. I think I was trying to get dead in spite of my traitor arms and hands. Wasn’t working.
The voice in my head - my voice - was furious and unforgiving. You killed ALL of those people, people you didn’t even KNOW, people who probably didn’t even deserve to die! YOU killed them! And now there is only ONE person on the planet that you KNOW deserves to DIE! And you CAN’T kill him? What kind of mewling coward does that MAKE you? How could you NOT be ABLE to do that one, last, simple chore?
And so on. Relentless. I had no answers. But I kept thinking of a dead NVA I had spent time with in the field. And Danny Deever, for some reason. Maybe he was the only for-sure coward I knew. Maybe - since I was going to force myself to go on living - I was looking for a role model.
I wrestled with my internal harangue for a couple of weeks while I was in-patient. I kept coming back to the idea that even Danny wasn’t a role model for contemptible me. He had - in a manner of speaking - bravely stuck to his guns throughout his military ordeal. He never promised us anything, and he never even pretended he was willing to fight. And he took some risk by doing that. By comparison to me, he was fucking Audie Murphy.
Finally I was imagining that Danny was there in my head, too, listening to all my diatribes. Then he spoke to me. (I know that sounds psycho, but it was a Psych Ward, so gimme some slack here.) I kept seeing Danny sitting on the sandbags as that Recon Platoon dude sidled up to him to give him his rifle back, then beat feet over to the helicopter and go some place where not everyone knew what a puking fake and coward he was. In contrast, Danny was willing to take all we had to dish out. If he wasn’t such a coward, you might even call him brave.
I imagined Danny talking to me. “I’m here inside your head! Far out! And you know that guy who looks just like you who is doing all the yelling in here? That guy is as full of shit as anyone in the Recon Platoon. He’s a coward - he wants you to run away, man. He’s afraid.
“You really think your kids will be better off without you? You think the world will be better? Bullshit. Don’t run. Stay and fight. Fight through the humiliation and contempt. Fight for the people who love you, the people you love. Fight for yourself.”
Took me some time to come around to that way of thinking. It’s a lot easier to tell that kind of thing to someone else than it is to prescribe humiliation and dishonor for yourself. Takes courage.
Huh. Hard for me to admit that, even now. Doesn’t seem like courage, but looking at it from Danny’s point of view... I dunno. I spent a lot of time in the Psych Ward giving the same advice to others. Courage. Don’t give up. Don’t surrender. Don’t run away. Turn and face it. Own it.
I just had to choke down my own medicine. Was certainly harder than prescribing it for someone else. And Danny... Fuck Danny. Sonofabitch turned out to be braver than I thought. Saved me, if you can call this life I’m living worth saving.
You know what? I think it is worth saving. I came here to say that.
Your life too. Listen to Danny Deever, the ratfuck coward. Help comes from unexpected places - any combat vet knows that. Maybe he can help save you, too. Courage.

2022.03.19 11:00 Tiny-Journalist-1448 Being so long in bed(Not a flex,I need help)

I am a 20 years old male and was a virgin till one of my friends took me to have sex with a prostitute(lots of girls in my country are not rdy for sex until marriage).
My foreskin is not circumcisied and I mastrubated with my foreskin not pulled since these days. The problem is when I have sex, foreskin is automatically pulled(that's not the problem) and it take so long(about 45 minutes) to cum. I am not controling not to cum.I wish to cum actually when the prostitute start telling me like her vagina become so hot(high temperature hot😄) and asking questions like "Did u take some pills to last long?" I mean I know the average vaginal sex mostly took about 10-15 minutes.
What I worry is when I have a girlfriend and when we have sex,the problem of lasting so long will make her feel pain? Thats what I worry. Guys help me. Should I consult with a doctor to remove my foreskin?

2022.02.15 12:58 Garnetto56 Cure and dark side(pssd subreddit and related problems)

Ok guys. I want to speak with you about cure, subreddit, and especially about cured people. But, at start, we need to mention that our subreddit is one of the darkest side of Reddit. Previously, several months ago i know a little about Reddit. In my region it's not so popular. I discovered about it after found out about pssd. Also i found here pssdhealing, however it's not so happy as many of us expected. I mean, yea, there are positive stories, people cured pssd and so on. It's give motivation don't give up. But, as i mentioned previously, pssd subreddit is still dark side of our little world. Maybe you say problem is people. But it's not people's fault. People don't want to be so miserable, they don't want to be with these problems. Ok, probably it's our asylum. But for every creature there is his own place. This place for us is pssd subreddit. Cause out of this "world", how many people understand us? Or how many people rdy to hear about struggling? Everyone should do their own conclusion about it. We must accept every new member, if he rdy to come here. Because most of us already exist in hell, so for me it's strange to hear that pssd is asylum. It's one part of my speech.
Second part is about cured people and what is problem of pssd. I warn you that is a hard part, so for many people i would recommend not to continue reading the next text. It's my thoughts, my conclusions, you can disagree with it. I have read many cured stories. But for me it's still not enough. It's not enough to persuade me to continue struggling with it over 3,4,5 years and more. I read about exercise, foods, diet, supplements and meds. About hope and about crash. About thousands and one hypothesis. And still it's all just hypothesis. Against what we fight? Toxins? Serotonin? Virus or changed genes? Unfortunately, we must recognise that our problem is not "our" problem. Here we are united by reason and symptoms. But in fact, every person has his personal mechanism of problem. It's not be the secret, that someone got pssd from depression. We can't deny that fact. For someone problem is in hypersensitivity to drugs, especially, who take one or two pills. And of course, someone has got really injured by meds, it's a hardest case and don't include just pssd. These cases have a very little chance to be cured, unfortunately. Someone has psychosomatic problem. I mean when people get pssd after several months when stopped taking antidepressants. It's not fault of drugs, it's fault of stress and psychological problems. Recently we had an example, when man got ED after found our subReddit. Cause in subReddit or AD? No, cause in mind of this young man. So, next about "cured" people. Where are they? It's very funny when people say that cured man or woman doesn't come here again after cured. And one more funny, when one man said that he heard from another man who know about 30 "cured" persons. Probably it sounds something naive, isn't? I don't want to ruin people's hope, but want to do something clear about all this fantastic stories. I do not remember about how many, but about 800 recorded cases Healy has? For 20-30 years? I don't say about amounts of pssd cases, i would like to say how little we know about cured stories here. Probably it's because people usually are not cured with time, supplements, meds, etc. And unfortunately this is a realistic truth. The longest period I found was 30 years with pssd. Also there are 10, 15, 20 years. I don't want to be toxic and i never was him. But this problem did it with me. It's just my thoughts and my view of perspective future.

2021.11.20 01:31 PhoenixMandate MMA surgery post op day 5

Hi Folks,
Wanted to share my story so far. I had responded on another thread that my surgery was partially approved by UHC and I had decided to go through with the surgery. My total RDI has always been well into the 30s lower 40s and has been a 20 years of struggling to manage.
We did suspect surgery would be viable since the root cause was likely the result of retrognathia. The latter was confirmed by CBCT. Note that we had attempted to correct the deficiency via a Herbst appliance decades ago but it either didn't do enough or it didn't hold.
Surgery was on Monday and involved an MMA/LeFort1 with a total jaw advancement of 7.5mm, and some fancy jaw rotation changes that went in one ear and out the other; my surgeons specialty is reconstructive so there were elements of plastic surgery thrown in to compensate for the facial changes. This part was NOT covered by insurance so I ended up footing a roughly 11k bill for some uncovered services.
So far I can feel major improvement but there's still too much swelling. All I know is that I can stand up straight against the wall for the first time in probably 30 years.
Here's my initial feedback on recovery. The surgery is brutal, at least mine feels that way, so don't take this decision lightly
  1. Recovery is absolutely brutal. My mouth is tightly banded shut so mouth breathing is limited and swelling made nasal breathing tough.
  2. I'm claustrophobic so the breathing issues caused me to panic a few times.
  3. You'll be drinking fluids through a syringe for 8-10 days. Make sure some of that has caloric value like bone broth otherwise you'll find yourself on your ass from weakness.
  4. Drink as much fluid as you can in general. People do end up back in the ER with dehydration. So far I've been ok.
  5. Stock up on Vaseline for your lips. They will peel and they will peel badly.
  6. Liquid Tylenol is a god send. I prefer the grape over the cherry, cherry gave me heartburn.
  7. Make sure they send you home with a pill crusher. I had to take an antacid crushed and dissolved in water because of the aforementioned cherry shite.
  8. Ice ice baby.
  9. Give it time, this will take a few days just to get over the inflammation. Wednesday I nearly has a breakdown because I didn't think I could manage my jaw being shut for so long. Today was a good day.

2021.11.14 22:37 Mr_hyde2000 The Way of Ethan chapter 16

Good Evening you crazy people, here it is, and a bit earlier this time, a good hour and a half before midnight, so as always, comments and constructive criticism in the comment are very much appreciated
and now, have at it!
previous first next.
___________________________________________________________________________________________
Taruk:
"What can we do about this Mushty? Is it possible to change to a different FTL lane?" Taruk was pacing back and forth on the bridge, rubbing his hands.
"Well, sure we can change FTL lane, but that will add a significant amount of travel time, but choosing one that takes us closer to Republic controlled space will be safer. Do you want me to plot a course and give an estimate of our new travel time?" Mushty was sitting in her captains chair already plotting several new courses trying to get estimates on travel time, and looking for empty slots in the FTL lanes travel system.
"Don't bother giving me an estimate, choose one that's far safer than our current path and make the shift, Ethan is no way prepared to deal with a full on pirate assault." Taruk was wringing his hands at this point.
"Should i get our old gear out, just to be safe?"
"Once your done with the new course, I don't think it will be a bad idea to at least be prepared, we are still only just a day or so away from the station, what is the likelihood of getting attacked so close to a Republic station."
Ethan:
Suddenly Ethan felt a cold shiver run down his spine. "This can't be good" he thought as he was carrying two chairs and a table towards the cargo bay, a small red and white cross patterned bundle lay atop the table, containing a set of plates, cutlery, glasses and a candlestick, made to look like brass, complete with candles.
Once in the cargo bay he found a nice corner spot and put it all down, but before he started to set up he needed to change, so off the engineering bay once more, last he was there all the fabric was done but nothing had been collected yet.
Upon entering, he saw that both Tifa and Tonfa was standing there admiring the new dress Tonfa had designed.
Ethan cleared his throat, which made the two Loraxian spin on their heels and instantly hide the dress behind their backs.
"Ethan? What are you doing here?"
"I was going to pick up the clothes I had printed for our date, also I have question for Tifa."
"Oh yeah, what might that be?"
Ethan could hear the trepidation in her voice.
"I was wondering if there was some kind of translation system implemented on my data pad that let's me write in my language and it then converts it to what ever language that's the most universal standard?"
"Not that I'm aware of no, but it doesn't sound like it would be to much of a problem to make, maybe... Maybe we could work on it together, you know, like a date... Thing?"
"You know what, that could actually be kind of a fun date thing to do. Hey Tonfa if you aren't to busy in about an hour, could you meet me in the cargo bay? For our date of course."
"Sure Ethan, I'll go get ready right away for our date." she said while glaring at Tifa as walked by on her way out of the room.
"I want to ask you for a favour Tifa, do you still my phone, you know that little data pad looking thing?"
"Yes, I actually put it back together with a little upgrade so that it can connect to the ships network, like our data pads, though the programming language was weird to work with but I made it connect, somehow. I'm still not entirely sure how it works but the bulk on the backside is a data converter that let's your device talk with the ship and share data."
Ethan immediately recognised the passion for the tech and the desire to solve the puzzle that was human coding. As she handed him the phone, that was a bit more clunky than it used to be due to the black lump that now resided on the back of it, she stood next to him swiping away on the screen to show him how she thought it might work.
"That's actually what I wanted you to do, can I transfer data directly to the ship, for example play music or upload schematics?"
"You should be able to do it, it might take some fiddling but it should work."
This was perfect, a romantic candlelit dinner wasn't complete with some tunes to set the mood.
"Thanks Tifa, you're the best, I can hardly wait for our... Date? Yeah, date."
He gave her a sideways hug after the small tutorial of how it might work, then went to get his new clothes,
"I'll be seeing you later." with a pair of finger pistols he was out the door, swiping and tapping away on the phone to try and make connect with network on the ship.
Tifa had made a crude kind of app the looked awfully a lot like commando prompt on a pc, with different codes he could try to type in, after each code he had to wait for the system to execute the code, convert it to something the ship might understand, so instead of just starring at the screen, he changed and went to the mess hall to get something for them to eat and drink.
While in the mess hall, feeling increasingly more frustrated over the damned phone wouldn't properly connect to the damned ship, Ethan had giving up on printing a fancy three course dinner and had conceded to make something that look similar to pasta with meatballs, using the pictograms on the screen, when suddenly the phone pinged, having connected to the ships network, "But of course it works now, it didn't even see what worked, but hey, it works, that calls for cake. Hmm cake, what looks like cake, maybe that tiramisu looking kinda thing, two of each please. Oh and maybe some wine, that would be sooo nice." grinning while tapping away.
Ethan was actually feeling good about this date, when a thought struck him.
"Wait a minute. If Tonfa, and Tifa for that matter, never have been on a date, they don't know about all the clichés, I can be as cheesy as want, say all kinds of corny shit, and get away with it without eyerolls and groans, this is going to be awesome."
Feeling very giddy while setting up Ethan couldn't help put start whistling a tune and second after started vocalising his excitement.
🎶"Ba-da-da, ba-da-da-da-da-da, ba-da-da
Ba-da-da, ba-da-da-da-da-da, ba-da-da
There used to be a graying tower alone on the sea
You became the light on the dark side of me
Love remained a drug that's the high and not the pill
But did you know that when it snows
My eyes become large and the light that you shine can be seen?"🎶
Caught in the moment of finally being happy and singing Ethan spun around and sang full blast, eyes closed, and full of passion
🎶"Baby, I compare you to a kiss from a rose... " he froze as he opened his eyes a saw Tonfa starring at him from a short distance across the bay, his breath caught in his throat as he saw just how fantastic she looked in her dress, the short sleeves and v neck, the tight fit all the way down to her hips, showing of her lithe shape, the billowing skirt, stopping just below her knees, the fact she didn't wear any shoes made her seem even more natural.
"How long have you been standing there?? Wait, don't answer." he hurried, as she made to answer his first question. Blushing profusely.
"That's not what I wanted to be the first thing I said to you. I mean, what I want to say is, wow you look gorgeous."
Ethan saw how her ears vibrated, it was so adorable.
"You don't look half bad yourself mister. What was that you where doing before, that high pitched thing?" She was clearly trying to as confident as possible, and it was working.
"That's called whistling, you pout our mouth 'wrike rish and bwow'" Ethan let out four tones each climbing in pitch, before ending with a little tune.
He couldn't help but start laughing when Tonfa tried the same, but her lips just couldn't form that way, no matter how hard she tried and scrounged up her face, all that came out was a lot of air and sputtering.
"I think that with practice you might be able to produce something akin to a whistle."
“Come sit with me, I've tried to make a romantic date, well romantic by human standards, this would be, in my opinion, a very romantic date. This is the place where you so blatantly asked me to... Well you know, you where there, so I thought if we where to give it a go, then why not start here, properly this time." he had said it all with a smile on his lips, but he could still see Tonfas mood change a little bit.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to offend you, I just thought it would be a little funny thing we could have, between the two of us."
"it's okay Ethan, I... It is just not a joking matter, not yet, anyway." she was looking down at her feet, one arm rubbing the other.
“Hey come here." he said softly while slowly embracing her, giving her a consolidating back rub. "I promise I won't joke about it until you say that it's okay, okay?" He looked at her and swore he could see her blush just beneath the short fur on her cheeks.
She gave him a little nod and pushed herself past him towards the table.
"So what's all this then, the food I can tell but talk me through the rest."
Ethan smiled, glad that his little fumble was past them now and joined her at the table
"First off, we have spaghetti and meatballs, sort of, accompanied by a, what I presume is a lovely bottle, of fermented fruit. Then for dessert, we have a nice tiramisu, or the only thing I could find that looked remotely like cake. For added romance, candlelight!" he said with a flourish as he lit them with a small lighter. "And some music."with a push of a button soft jazz started flowing from the announcement speakers that where spread out all over the ship.

Taruk:
He had been monitoring the entire sector alongside Mushty, when all of a sudden wierd music started coming from the announcement speakers.
"By the stars! What is this? Mushty, are you playing tricks on me again?" she was known to play the odd trick once in a while, but if this was her doing, poor timing. Ever since they left their FTL lane, Taruk had been a nervous wreck. If you got robbed by pirates on an FTL lane, insurance would cover you, but outside, that was on you, and Taruk would take a big hit if this cargo was stolen.
"It is not me old friend, scanning ships system now, hold on... Its an internal source, but the terminal is of unknown origin. Do you think Ethan might have a thing to do with this?"
"Hmm yes, maybe, I'll go ask him. He is still in the cargo bay yes?"
"Yes, he and that Loraxian scientist is... Having dinner? In the cargo bay? Taruk who even are these people?"
"Good people." he said as he walked through the door.
Walking through the ship, listening to the strange music playing, he felt an otherworldly calm fall upon him, like a blanket of serenity was slowly drawn over him making him slow his pace slightly to match the flow of the music.
The doors opened up to a dimly lit cargo bay, Ethan and Tonfa illuminated by three small pillars between them, with a live flame at the very top, both enraptured in the conversation flowing between them.
As he neared the couple, Ethan stood and leaned towards Tonfa, whispering something, then made his way towards Taruk.
"I'm sorry to be interrupting you, but I thought you should be made aware of the current situation." he spoke softly as to not disturb the situation more than necessary.
"What is the current situation Taruk, it can't be good with gear you're wearing, should I prepare for war or something?"
Taruk had completely forgotten that he had donned the equipment that Mushty had found earlier, but was reminded as Ethans eyes wandered from his arms to his legs.
"This is merely a precaution, however, the FTL Lane we were travelling on was no longer as safe, as when we left the station. We are currently in process of switching to a much safer lane, unfortunately that brings us out of controlled FTL lanes and in to unregulated space, meaning, slightly higher risk of... Incidents to occur. We are hoping that due to our short distance to the station that we just left, marauders, thieves and pirates are much less likely to interfere."
"But they do occur? Is there something I should prepare for or what is procedure in case of pirates?"
He hesitated, but eventually answered.
"There will be time later to go through protocol and procedures in case of a hostile encounter with someone less desirable."
"If you say so Taruk, thanks for the update, and you're sure I can go backs to enjoying my date without a care in the world?"
"Yes my friend, go enjoy yourself, I will call if necessary." he walked away from Ethan, once at the door out of the cargo bay he looked back, seeing that his little interruption of their dinner hadn't put any sort of damper on their mood as they where once again deep in conversation he thought to himself.
"Let them have this night in peace."
Tonfa:
Aside from Taruks interruption, this was the most magnificent evening she had ever had, Ethan told so much about himself and asked her in return, about things she loved to talk about, he even agreed to let her do a complete physical test on him, on the one condition she be wearing a complete environmental suit, they had a good chuckle about that.
During dinner Ethan had procured a bottle of some fruit wine that hailed from her peoples home planet, she smiled and asked how he had known where the bottle came from, that it actually meant a lot to her, to which he applied, that a “magician” never revealed his tricks, but she had suspicions that someone had helped him.
“What happens now, that all the food is gone? And the wonderful wine is almost gone.” she eyed the small amount left in Ethans glass.
“Now my lady.” Ethan said just before he bottomed the glass. “Now, we dance.”
he swiped at his little data pad and the rhythm of the music changed, Tonfa closed her eyes and could fell her spirit being lifted by the music, what a powerful tool this music was that Ethan so readily had at his fingertips.
When she opened her eyes again, she felt he stomach turn into knots, as Ethan stood in front of her with a hand stretched towards her.
As she tentatively grabbed, he yanked her to her feet, even though she was quite a bit taller than him, it seemed so effortless, she didn’t know what to do with herself, but that didn’t seem to bother Ethan much, as he simply started leading her away from the table with a little pep in his step, before twirling her around.
Music. Wine. Movement. The world went by so fast, again and again she thought she would fall but there would Ethan be, catching her, spinning her around, she felt her self smiling and giggling. Slowly the music faded and was replaced by something a little slower, out of breath she suddenly tensed when she felt Ethan change his stance and was in an instant much closer to her, one hand on her lower back and holding her in the other, in sync with the rhythm, he started swaying and she quickly follow suit.
Just as the music started slowing down it was suddenly cut short by a high chime, shaken of the trance she was in she felt Ethan rush from her to the table where he pick up his tiny tablet.
Seconds past and he turned towards her, fear in his eyes but he wasn’t looking at her, but beyond her, she turned her head to what ever it was that had grabbed Ethans attention so, and saw a red ring forming on the cargo bays loading ramp.
Fear froze her in to a near catatonic state, only when she felt Ethans hand on the back of her head, him shouting in her face to get down, did she react, she did as he screamed, all bundled up into a small as possible figure.
Ethan placed himself between her and the inevitable hole to come, got down on his knees, body and arms stretched around her as he grabbed the grated floor and braced for impact.
“Take a deep breath, its about to get real cold and quiet in here.”
And then... Silence.

2021.10.29 20:26 Boatwhistle Foods I have included in my diet for feeling good and improved physical performance.

If you didn’t know already it is startling just how many people aren’t getting in recommended daily vitamins and minerals. Many people are deficient in such vitals things as vitamins d, c, and a. Too common are people not getting in a good amount of potassium, magnesium, copper, or zinc... important for either a healthy brain, nervous system functions, or hormone production. Lastly the number of people that don’t get in their omega fatty acids is disappointing with how often we are told to get in thsee highly beneficial macros. This is despite most people either eating enough or too much. Take a second to realize that we live in a world where it is common to be both obese and malnourished at the same time. With this being the case, how do you think people do when they intentionally eat less to lose weight. Depends, cause some people opt to eat healthier foods specifically when they go on a diet so they can enjoy the lower calorie dense, higher protie, and fiber rich foods. In many cases people become confused as to why they feel better on a 500+ calories deficient then when they are eating too much. This is the reason, you stop eating junk that only give you calories and start eat quality foods that give you so much more per gram, obviously you will feel much better very quickly.
I lost most of the weight over 8 months ago, I still eat the same health foods cause I have learned to like them and cook a high variety of things with them. Plus when you feel better eating a healthy food on a diet, imagine how much better you‘ll feel when you eat a larger quantity of the same healthy foods without trying to lose weight? It’s amazing, my capacity to be comfortably productive and active all day every day is off the charts. A year and half ago when I was over 55% body fat I couldn’t hardly deal with any significant effort for more then 30 minutes before feeling sick.
Another thing when people try to lose weight many will go into the gym to pick up the pace and allow them to eat a little more as well. However if they are still eating mostly empty calories they may find that the gym is more suffering then it is worth after the first few weeks. When you increase your work volume for the day at a higher intensity, this is when your deficiencies really impact you, not when you are resting and being as you want all the time. No, it is when you force yourself to consistently move behond your typical comfort level. This is when your low electrolytes, insufficient protien, low omegas, and lacking hormones will impact you and result in feeling worse... trouble recovering, and little to no improvement. “I tried to get stronger, ate plenty of protien. I don’t think I can improve and lose fat at the same time.” Well were you eating enough omegas and zinc cause a deficiency in either one of these will screw you over. The common lack of zinc is one of the reason why whey supplements are so effective, they sneak 20% or more of your RDI into it in order to help make sure you are producing enough growth hormones. There is also why just about every pro athlete uses fish oil pills, omegas are crucial for efficient cell production. Then let’s say you want better result then just good enough to be healthy, maybe you want big muscles, higher endurance, or wanna excel at an activity. In this case the recommended daily intake isn’t enough for many things. The RDI for various nutrients is meant for normal people with normal levels of activity and normal life styles. If you do more then 5 miles of cardio a day, resistance train for more then an hour, and do some form of functional specificity training then you will need more then RDI to get the better result, feel good, and recover fast fully. Everyone knows you need more protien and rest but they don’t eats more vegetables and fruits for more vitamins and mineral which you will also need more of. Again the protien powders are so effective for a reason. It’s not magic, the manufacturer just knows that most people aren’t competent enough to include more of this stuff in their diet so they add it to help you succeed so you will continue to buy their product, so you won’t give up due to lack luster results.
So I take great satisfaction consistently cooking a variety of things with the following foods almost every day. I feel great and recover from 3 or more hours of training each day, no rests. Doesn’t matter my goal, these foods are a must for me.
-oysters(120 grams cooked two-three meals a week in this case. Insanely nutritious I’m so many things even for a sea food, to the point that going 3-4 days without them is inconsequential)
-spinach
-collard greens
-broccoli
-strawberries
-non fat yogurt with live cultures
-oats
-flax seeds
-olives(whole, butter, oil)
-almonds/walnuts
-Whole eggs/egg white(1-2 egg yolks a day and the rest in whites as desired, yolks are good for you and provide a ton of benefits but the as of law of diminishing return hits and the saturated fats increase with each additional gram it just isn’t helping you after the second yolk enough to justify the bad cholesterol cost... moderation).
-black tea/coffee
-whey isolate and casein powder(isolate after energy demanding exercises like 40 minutes or more cardio, casein before sleepy time).
-fish oil pills
-creatine
-sucralose(does it help me? No. Does it hurt me? Not in any proven way as of yet. Does it consistently help prevent me from even thinking about junk food ps to begin with? Very effectively. At this point I don’t need sucralose to not eat junk... I am too far and too happy to give in now, even then why try to fix something that ain’t broke?)
Its likely not much stuff you ain’t heard of before, and yet still so many people don’t even get close to the minimum healthy RDIs, yet here I am exceeding most things by more then double without issue and feeling/doing great for it.

2021.10.23 12:51 herzei 100k

Guys, atm im running a 100k (or try at least). Me against me. Im at km 56, with 6:20h on the clock. Do u have some motivation for me? Goal is to finish under 12h.
So heres how it did go:
I started around 5:30. My support driver called me the day before, he wont come. No problem, i carry my bag myself. I had my mother at km 30 with a bread and butter and drinks to fill up. My 2nd „station“ was my brother at km 45 with a plate of evrything i would need he told me. There was bread with cheese, meat, salad, salty snacks, magnesium pulver, and also some powerbars. Aswell drinks to fill up. I could choose what i wanted. After that, i had my mother again at km 60. But the weather got so nice she was tired of waiting for me and did go for a walk by herself w/o putting some in front door to refill. So far so good. Supermarkets would be on the way, but i forgot my wallet. I could pay with the garmin if they would have nfc thing.
So i got up in the morning, walked with my dog, then come back home and rdy to start. When i started the run i wasnt rly motivated, or lets say i had respect from my plan. I started at 5degrees celsius, with a merino jacket and a windbreaker. the forecast was fog, sun and clouds, but no rain. I live in the mountains, so u should be prepared for rain aswell. in my backpag was 2 Bananas. 3 latches. 3 Powerbars. and some small stuff like a creme, tissues, headphones etc
After km7 i recognized i forgot my snacks, and wallet. Turning around wasnt a thing, cuz of the lack of motivation. The fog didnt appeared so it got quite fast too warm for me. My first drop was at my moms house. Ok, carry the jacket into the running backpack. (5Liters) I didnt found a real rythm to run and it was too warm. After 1h i did eat the first banana. (no breakfast, im used to it up to half marathon without. After 2nd hour 1 latch. At 25km i put in my headphones and eat 2nd banana and first powerbar gel. At km 30 my thigh and my left knee said hello the first time. So far so good. I kept carry on with 5km run, 3-500m fast walk. I was well in my time plan. When i arrived my brothers house i was rly happy with the menu i could choose from, but also told him i still have like no motivation at all to kept running. i changed shoes from altra rivera to altra torin 5, that i deponated at his location. But i wanted to break my actual record of 50k. He said, dont worry call me anytime and i bring u home. But i refused to and kept on running towards back home. I felt quite good, the eating and also the salt pill he gave me helpd my thighs. he drove like 4km with the bike with me, talked a little bit and pushed me to keep goin for at least 55/60k. So i called my mom and the surpise was real. Ok, might happen, keep on going. When i wrote the reddit post i kept like running for 3km and walk 300m. It wasnt flat, i did walk all the uphills to not waste energy there. At km 59 i did go to a random house and asked for some salt, like quartehalf a tea spoon of salt and fresh water. After like 5-7nips of salt water and normal water my stomach said hello mr, i dont like salt water. From there on it wasnt a pleasure anymore, more and more my stomach wanted to give up. After nearly throwing up several times i found a bench to rest. That was at km 66,xx. After resting ~10minutes (yes i sat the fuck down, i will never ever do it again) i wanted to stand up but legs said - u sat alrdy down, our jobs done. i tried to walk (it felt like a penguin if u watch them) i was able to run some meters but from there on it was over. I fighted to fill up 70km and my gf picked me up then.
What i will change next time?
No salt water for sure. More magnesium and salt pills. A 2nd full menu at km 60 and something at around 80.
the surface was like 68km road, 500m grass and rest crushed rock/ side verge.
What did my trainig looked like? 3 weeks of 10-15km runs at that slow pace 6:30-6:45. Im used for easy runs at around 5:15. Im not lying, i dont recommend that distance with that amount of training, short runs. But i knew i was able to do so becuz i have a strong mind, what pain in legs affects. I will definitely try again february i think, when roads are free of snow. Sorry, english isnt my main language, if u find mistakes, keep em ;).
Thank u for all the positve feedback and i will come back with a 100k, i promise. Quick facts: Distance 70k Total time 8h25min Average heart rate 150. (my max is 205, anaerobic threshold at 179) Avg pace 6:59 Avg cadence 150 (says garmin)

2021.06.14 17:06 SheilaSherlockHolmes The Involvement of Alcohol

For this post, we're assuming RDI, although I always keep an open mind. Something I've been curious about for a while, and have seen brief mentions of, but never fully discussed, is the possible involvement of alcohol. I'd love to know more about whether we have evidence to answer this question.
In my opinion, IF John and/or Patsy had been drinking, it could answer a few of the questions, and explain things that don't make sense.
So, we know they were at a Christmas party. It's not unreasonable to think they may have had a few to drink, and maybe a few too many.
Perhaps Patsy had a couple to settle her nerves before the party. We know there was a big argument because Jonbenet wouldn't wear the matching outfit that Patsy wanted her to wear, and we know that tensions were running high because Jonbenet wasn't pleased with the lookalike doll that was one of her presents. These are the points from the Ramseys' own story. There could have been any number of other arguments that we don't know about. If Patsy was frazzled, she could have had a swift drink to calm down, and then continued a the party.
Perhaps John had a couple at the party, and then drove home when he shouldn't have? Maybe that's why he stayed in the car, and didn't go into the Stines?
Perhaps John came home, and grabbed a scotch before going to bed?
Perhaps John and/or Patsy were taking medication which shouldn't have mixed with drink? We know from their own story that they both took sleeping pills, and many other things.
If either of them, or both of them, were slightly too drunk, it might explain why they behaved in the way they did, and it might explain the gap that we are all struggling to understand between nice, normal people who have never been in trouble, to suddenly people who cover up a murder?
Alcohol could explain why Patsy could have hit Jonbenet harder than she would have normally done.
One point I find hard is believing John (the nice, mild-mannered, softly spoken person we see in interviews) could be capable of molesting his child, and indeed killing her, especially on Christmas Day/Night, the happiest family time of the year. An interesting point that Straydog77 made a while back when discussing this, is that this could explain the very reason why it did happen then of all times. The festive season, whilst being a wholesome, sacred time for families to be happy together, is also a time of excess; it's time for parties, indulgence, drinking, eating, making merry, and letting your hair down after a long year of working. It's a time to treat yourself, and let yourself indulge in things that you would usually restrain from. For most of us, this might be an extra mince pie, or glass of sherry, or another slice of Yule Log. Perhaps this spirit of indulgence would lead somebody (John) into satisfying his unmet urges, and indulging is molestation to quench his thirst, as a treat to himself, kind of like an additional cigarette at the end of a party. I feel awful writing like this, but don't know how else to say it.
There are so many points about this case that don't make sense, and we can't understand why normal people would behave in certain ways, and this is why we can't fully accept RDI, or have reservations about it. But, if we imagine two drunk parents who aren't in their right minds, suddenly faced with an unconscious child, it becomes easier to imagine why they would make unwise decisions.
Does anyone have any thoughts, examples, evidence?

2021.04.15 17:28 Gdb_179 After 9 months of hell, I’m almost positive I found the root cause....UARS.

I have obstruction through my nose that I can never breath through.
My sleep study showed I had 62 RDI’s (arousal’s). My oxygen dropped to 85% because I was suffocating, and because of that my heart rate jacked up from my resting heart rate (which is 35 bc I am a runner, and it jacked up to 87.)
I have not been getting adequate restful sleep for 2 years. No wonder why I feel like shit ALL the time.
No doctor was smart enough to tell me, “uhhhh how’s you’re sleep?”
All they ever told me is that I’m depressed and have anxiety and that I need to see a physiologist. Wanted to make me a walking pharmaceutical company and throw drugs.
I would HIGHLY recommend taking a wholistic approach, where they look at everything.
Hormones, Genetics, Toxins, Allergies, Food Allergies, Diet, Overall lifestyle, and in my case.... Sleep.
Looking back I really was not feeling good for about 2 years, becoming more fatigued. However the fog seriously got bad about 8 months ago.
Take the wholesistic approach, because guess what... if you’re not feeling good, uuuhhh duh you are going to be showing symptoms that make you feel depressed and have anxiety. For me it was the fear of the unknown.
One might have depression and that might be the underlying cause for the fog. However for me I KNEW it was something else and I refused to take a pill.
God bless and I really hope all of you find the cause and move FORWARD in life. Much love. I will keep y’all updated on my progress!

2021.03.31 06:32 regina-consuella Accidently took 2 doses of not my ADHD medication right before bed.

Went to take my (multiple) meds before bed tn to realize I was out of a certain one cuz I had upped the dosage to 3 pills from 2 daily recently and needed to refill sooner than usual. so I went hunting for a few to take till I could get to the pharmacy. Got all excited when I found 2 little pills randomly in an old unmarked pill bottle and gulped em down. Getting rdy for bed later and notice I am feeling wired! Racing heart, kinda anxious and restless.like I shud be doing something- anything but it's 11pm and I'm usually an early to bed person. Thats when I realize that my sons ADHD pills look exactly like my meds only with a diff. Dose Number printed nice and tiny on each little pill. Damn. I took 2 doses of ADHD meds at 11 pm when I do not have ADHD. Shit.

2021.03.16 18:59 adamaero Micronutrient Gaps in Three Commercial Weight-Loss Diet Plans (2018)

ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5793336
This study was found by searching Google:

1. Introduction

[In 2016] About 39% of adults in the world are overweight and 13% are obese [1]. The prevalence of obesity among U.S. adults is as high as 36.5%; that is, more than one in three American adults are obese [2].
[…]
In 2014, Americans were estimated to spend US$2.5 billion on weight-loss services [8]. The U.S. weight loss market is projected to grow to US$ 66 billion in 2017 [9].

2. Methods

2.1. Selection of Weight-Loss Diet Plans

[At the end of 2016] Selection of specific diet plans was established by a ranking based on number of reviews [of books] on Amazon.com.
Table S1: Top five most reviewed weight-loss diet books on Amazon.com.
Table 1 Summary of three weight-loss diet plans for meal-plan analysis *.

2.2. Meal-Plan Analysis

Seven single-day menus of each diet were sampled to represent one week of menus on each diet regimen (n = 21 menus, 7 menus/diet). Sample menus were manually entered into the online nutrient tracker CRON-O-Meter (https://cronometer.com). CRON-O-Meter is a web-based nutrition and biometric tracking application which features data on over 60 nutrients and contains more than 7500 foods in its databases [18]. CRON-O-Meter was chosen as a tool for nutrient analysis mainly because of its large food database including the U.S. Department of Agriculture (U.S. DA) National Nutrient Database for Standard Reference. Additional databases included in CRON-O-Meter are the Nutrition Coordinating Center Food and Nutrient Database (NCCDB), ESHA Database, Canadian Nutrient File (CNF) and the Irish Food Composition Database (IFCDB).

3. Results

Table 4 Nutrient density * (per 2000 calories) in three weight-loss diet plans compared to Dietary Reference Intake (DRI) values for U.S male adults.

4. Discussion

Commercial weight-loss diet plans vary greatly, not only in energy content but also in macronutrient and micronutrient composition [11,13,14]. In the present analysis, protein content in the vegan diet plan (ETL-VAWL) was about 42% lower than in the other two plans (FMD and EDH), which is worth noting due to the role protein plays in preserving muscle mass. Although there are limited data on the risk of nutrient deficiencies among dieters, select weight-loss diets have been evaluated using self-reported dietary recalls or menu analysis. [This is a shitty method.] Menu analysis is an objective method to investigate nutrient profiles of diet plans and is not subject to recall bias due to reliance on participants’ memory. In our menu analysis, out of twenty micronutrients that were assessed, 2–6 essential micronutrients were below 90% of the recommended intakes (DRIs for U.S. male adults) in the three diets. After micronutrient content was standardized to a 2000-calorie diet …
[…]
Given these differences between female and male DRIs, we performed additional analysis using DRIs for U.S. adult women. Without adjustment for energy intake, the following micronutrients did not meet 90% of the recommended intakes for women:
Our data are supportive of micronutrient deficits and questionable dietary quality reported in previous work [11,12,13,14]. Daily menus of four weight-loss diets (Atkins for Life, South Beach, DASH, Best Life) were previously analyzed for 27 micronutrients contents and reported to be consistently low in six micronutrients including vitamin B7 (biotin), D, E, chromium, iodine and molybdenum compared to the minimum Reference Daily Intake (RDI) levels …
[…]
A relevant question that needs to be asked is if people who are dieting can realistically achieve adequate nutrient intakes purely via food? Diet optimization research does not support the feasibility of achieving recommended nutrient levels via food only while following diet plans.
[…]
In order to help people achieve recommended intakes of nutrients, the American Medical Association announced its position of advising “all adults to take at least one multivitamin pill each day” [23] and the 2015 DGAC recommended dietary supplements as useful to fill nutrient gaps in the American diet [20].

5. Conclusions

To our knowledge, this study is the first to analyze seven single-day menus and nutrient density to evaluate micronutrient profiles of commercial diet plans (ETL-VAWL, FMD and EDH) compared to DRIs for U.S. male adults. At a daily energy intake of 2000 kcal, the three diets did not provide recommended intakes (<90% DRI) of at least two micronutrients (vitamin D + calcium or B12) and one micronutrient (vitamin D) was below 600 IU (<30% DRI) across all diet plans. Our data complement and support previously published literature that micronutrient deficits are prevalent in weight-loss diet plans. More research is needed to find an optimal balance between macronutrient and micronutrient content in weight-loss diets in order to reduce risk of micronutrient deficiency among dieters. If not, adding an economically effective way of filling nutrient gaps, such as appropriate dietary supplements, should be considered.

Conflicts of Interest

Matthew G. Engel and J. Thomas Brenna do not have any conflict of interest. Hua J. Kern is an employee of the Nature’s Bounty Co. Susan H. Mitmesser was an employee of the Nature’s Bounty Co. when the work was performed.
Also, MDPI (publisher) was included on Jeffrey Beall's list of predatory open access publishing companies. I was told MDPI it is still on Cabell’s predatory journal blacklist (but I do not have a subscription).
