2023.03.30 18:56 FarmWhich4275 When Humans Human

(one of my earliest attempts at writing. decided to just finish and post it. apologies.)

Entry Log One: Khrakhan Eld, Jukhanian Ambassador to the Human Alliance. Stardate - Human Year 2086.

It has been over three centuries since I accepted this commission to work with the Human Alliance, and even though I have known them for that long, they still surprise me to a shocking extent. A highly diverse species with so many different cultures congealed into one staggering mass of a hundred billion strong, settled alongside all the galaxy's different species.
Humanity was, and still remains, the driving force behind the rapidly growing Federations power and might. The strange, gaunt, high gravity race of bipedal apes took the galaxy by complete surprise, not only due to their appearance, but also due to their surprising strength.

In barely forty years of their time here, they have integrated seamlessly with species previously thought inhospitable. Planets thought harsh or unuseable, supported massive colonies of millions of humans, and the richness the industries these worlds provide. Humans, as it later turned out, had an affinity for members of other species, and by staggering luck they had a one-in-a-billion reproductive system that was robust enough that they could actually interbreed with most mammalian species in the galaxy, and one or two of the reptillians as well.

Humanity's capabilities in terms of engineering surpassed ours in a matter of decades, and due to the terms of the Federation, they shared it with us. This is primarily due to the tribal nature of the race, and they are well known for their petty squabbles and minor disputes, that result in skirmishes or outright wars, but would never come to full scale attacks. Maybe a warning shot or two, a small exchange of fire to disable shield arrays, but never more than that.
When questioned about these incidents, Human ambassadors and leaders would simply say something on the lines of:
"Meh. Local tensions. Pirates. Idiots. God botherers or Idealists that randomly decide to slug it out one day. Just ignore them, they run out of steam eventually and bugger off back to where they came from."

We really cared not. Owing to how the humans never turned their guns on us, we were fine with it, so long as they never got us involved. Everything about the humans confused and amazed us. They had, during First Contact Exchanges, given us reels upon reels of their historical archives. And what we had now was essentially a marginally watered down version of what humanity once was.

Hardened like a battleship hull.

***************************************************************************
Entry Log Two: Human Expansion

Owing to their ability to breed with a majority of the species in the galaxy, Human society, cultures and customs became part and parcel of the Federations species, almost to the point where we started getting cults forming in small pockets on the outer rims worshipping this aspect. Humanity, surprisingly enough, even though they technically were the deity being worshipped by these cults, were the first ones to clamp down on them, disbanding or outright attacking them.

Humans retained a lot of their individual national cultures long after their arrival into space. Many of their soldiers still carried blades, swords, knives and other such primitive weapons, weapons that most members of the galactic species considered worthless, or obsolete. But humans wielded these weapons to devastating effect, as witnessed in a few incidents and military conflicts seen during their short time in the Federation.

Technological advancement in terms of military and civilian development outstretched the rest of the galaxy by - to quote an expression - "a Country Mile." Human creativity and the natural drive for both an Omnivorous species' capacity for greed, and the species natural curiosity drove them to accomplish tasks and tech we never would have imagined. Humans and their concept of "Percussive Maintenance", or smack it 'til it worked was also something that took us by surprise. Especially considering that most of the time it actually worked.

For a few decades, a long time in human years apparently, we simply took it at face value, and never questioned it. As the expression goes: "Never look a gift horse in the mouth."

***************************************************************************
Entry Log Three: Capacity for Evil

They were not complete angels and paragons of course, Many a time, more than other races especially during the early years, they were extremely aggressive in their colonization efforts, going to active war with many nations over territorial disputes, corporate conflicts or other such disputes. Either they would win by a bare margin, or they would be routed and sent off in pieces.

One such occasion was the Tabrisko Incident, where, from what I could discern, was a human Corporation, a private entity separate from the Alliance and the Federation, known as Cybratech Industries, had laid claim to a particular star system. A star system, already settled by its current inhabitants the Hasaki Triumvirate. It was here that humanity showed its capacity for callous greed, and why so much emphasis is placed in society on the rejection of Corporate ideals. It also showed us a modicum mof respectability. When someone was being a dick... they had no trouble fucking them.

The Corporation, or simply 'Corpos' gathered a fleet of about forty ships, two of them cruisers and one Ark ship. They proceeded, without orders to bypass most security legislation, bribing their way across the galaxy and arrived in the system of Tabrisko. Two terrestrial planets, one Oceanic planet in the habitable zone, one Gas giant, two Ice planets and one newborn Molten planet. An unremarkable system by all accounts, there were thousands just like it throughout the galaxy.

The Corpos warped in and sent out a mass broadcast. "This is a public declaration. On behalf of the CybraTech Corporation, your occupation of this star system is now null and void. You will evacuate from the area immediately. You have a standard week to respond."

The sheer bastarding balls of them. A human representative was contacted and informed of the situation.

The human Ambassador, a gaunt, tall white haired gent by the name of Harley Alride, had a sneaky, unmistakable grin on his face as he spoke to the ambassador from the Hasaki Triumvirate. "So... what exactly is the issue here?"
The Hasaki Ambassador, Sings-On-Shores, was by no means amused. The lizard like reptilians blue scales flared in anger as he spoke back. "For the third time, we have a human fleet calling itself the Cybratech Corporation demanding that we surrender one of our colony worlds! I demand an explanation!"
Harley simply let out a chuckle, as if he was suppressing the desire to laugh. "Oh? Corpo rats huh? Well they are a private entity. There's nothing we can do to stop you, or them."
Sings-On-Shores was somewhat confused, but more upset and angry. "What? WHAT!?"
Harley simply said, that typical sly, 'I am up to something sneaky' grin on his face that we had become so accustomed to seeing. "What I am saying Ambassador is... That whatever you decide to do with them is entirely your decision."
Sings-On-Shores was astonished. This situation was a full invasion by galactic standards, it was the equivalent of a declaration of war. "But... They are your people! You speak for them!"
Harley's smile disappeared and his demeanor changed to one of seriousness. "Mister Ambassador with all due respect, need I remind you of Federation Colonization legislation number Seven Five Eight, Paragraph three? I quote: 'The first claimant to any star system that has the capacity to maintain any industry on that planet, has full and absolute control of its industry and inevitably, it's defense, is the sole and exclusive claimant to that star system.'" Harley said, and looked at his counterpart.
"Of course I remember the damn legislation! I helped sign that into law a hundred years ago! What the hell are you talking about!?" Sings-On-Shores demanded, his scales flustering between breaths.
"What I am saying, Sir, is that Private entities known as Corporations and other private entities can form OUTSIDE of the Alliances jurisdiction. They can get rich, get an ego the size of a cargo freighter and then suddenly decide 'I am god now, I can do what I want.' and go on a rampage. We allow it, for reasons that should be obvious. We do however... DISAVOW." Harleys last word in that statement took the Hasaki Ambassador by surprise.
"Disavow... wh-?" The entire concept for the Hasaki of private corporations operating outside of jurisdiction was as much a foreign concept to him as could be imagined.
"We allow these entities to buy their own fleets, set up shop and do what they do. they return to the Alliance eventually one way or another, Its just business. But sometimes... the rich and wealthy develop a god complex. And it is up to the normal people in the galaxy to remind them of what they really are. Lest they do stupid things." Harley responded. He looked into the monitor, and visibly closed one of his eyes in a cheeky manner, with his smile returned.
Sings-On-Shores went silent for a moment. As if processing the information. "Understood, Ambassador."
"One more thing..." Harley said. His demeanor shifted again, to a dead serious and absolute severity. "Do not fire on that Ark ship. Those people signed up for a new life, not an execution. There are children on board. We will see to it they get passage to a new colony world one way or another. But the corpo fleet? Heh... Enjoy the salvage."
Sings-On-Shores acknowledged with his own sinister grin, and closed the call.

A few hours later, a very heavily armed war fleet of the Triumvirate warped into the star system. Outnumbering and heavily outgunning the Corpo fleet. As expected, sensing danger the Ark ship immediately performed an FTL emergency jump, and vanished to the borders of the system where, a Human Alliance fleet was casually waiting for them. The corporate fleet was nothing short of obliterated by plasma cannons and heavy weapons fire from a Triumvirate dreadnought and its escorts. Nothing left but salvage and slag floating hopeless in the expanse where a salvage crew from the colony appeared and went to town.
Three thousand people were killed in that fight. Two Triumvirate ships were lost, totaling 600 losses, battleships no less. The rest were human losses. Corvettes, pickets, escort ships and mostly small low quality frigates crewed by 'Corporate drones' and contracted slave workers. As Harley said, 'nothing worth keeping.'

The human ambassadors and agents explained that rich corporations or other such entities would go mad with power, gather followers or create clone armies - highly illegal clone armies - and attempt to claim what they wanted. Human Alliance officers always knew what was going on, and made sure that one way or another, in a fair and balanced manner, they would always lose.
"In a fair and balanced manner." That sentence is almost always expressed with a certain sadistic glee.

Entry Four: Unbelievable Charity

This event is in stark contrast to the New Haven Incident that took place some twelve years later. Humanity was now at the forefront of Galactic politics and economics. New Haven was in fact a Bakari settlement and I had been called in to help them reinforce their trade position with the local area and help them along. I was in the orbital station garrisoning the colony when I heard the call to action.
The communications arrays suddenly exploded with SOS signals, emergency alerts and warnings of every kind as a staggering earthquake hit one of the continents. Seismologists put the quake on a massive eleven point four on the scale, enough to tilt the planets axis three degrees, open two new fault lines, slow the planets rotation speed by almost a full second and cause seven subsequent volcanic detonations across the tectonic plate.
Twenty nine cities were impacted and a hundred and fifty million lives were at stake. Before I could do anything however. A message interrupted all communications directed at the local garrison.

"Distress Signal Received. This is Alliance Fleet Sons Of The Dawn responding. Admiral Beckett Gray reporting. Request permission to enter Federation airspace."
I was on the bridge with the station captain helping him organize a response at this time, and without thinking, I immediately jumped on the communicator in a response. "This is federation Ambassador Khrakhan Eld responding, permission granted."
The station captain was somewhat annoyed with me. It was not exactly polite to supplant his authority. I was only an ambassador, so he scolded me for it. "How dare you do that! This is my station! You dare break with protocol like that!"
"Captain Sundaris please, this is an emergency situation." I responded, trying to stay calm.

Before however we could argue this point, a hundred dropships, cargo ships and two planetary cruisers blasted past the station making us jump in surprise as they whizzed past us. Moments later the massive hull of one of the Alliances two kilometer long Planetary Assault Carriers rumbled past the station, its sheer size and speed causing the windows and plating on the stations hull to rattle. Very few people outside the Alliance had seen one of these magnificent beasts, and as it slipped past us we got a glimpse as to exactly why.

A strange ship with a triangular or diamond shaped hull, hangar bays on the sides, heavy armor plating with dozens of shield generators dotted the meters thick armor plating. Weapons seen only on dreadnoughts or battleships lined its side hull under the bridge section and more small craft were being hastily ejected from its side mounted hangars. Its most terrifying component was what was mounted at the front - a Spinal mounted ion cannon. I could very clearly see a tell-tale sign of an emitter array barely sticking out the front end.

It entered the planets atmosphere flawlessly and we watched in awe as a full army of humans flooded out of the ships hull as it touched ground causing a puff of dust. Two more of these PAC class ships followed, then three more after that, and one more lagging behind with various cargo ships and drop transports seemingly welded to its outer hull followed, all within moments of each other. Two more smaller craft, known as Trade Frigates or Droid Frigates, ships whose superstructure is primarily consistent of communications arrays and antennae, appeared and entered the stations orbital patterns and began transmitting commands and orders, organizing the planets scattered and broken emergency signals.

The captain and I looked at each other, mouths agape at the sight we just witnessed. Not just one of them, but SEVEN? How many of them did humanity have!?

"One hundred and thirty four. And still counting." I heard a voice behind me say.
"Wh- Pardon?" I asked, now looking at a human Marine standing in the control room.
"That's how many of those ships we have. One hundred and thirty four by last count, with drydocks and shipyards in Alliance space working to produce another six hundred within the next ten years. As per our trade agreements, one hundred of those ships will be handed over to our allies and trade partners." He said with a smile, handing me a data pad.
He must have heard the voice in my head somehow, or he just simply knew what the question was, probably having been asked it a thousand times. "Erm... Uh... Th-Thank you uh..." I cleared my throat and straightened my shoulders, attempting to compose myself. "Carry on soldier. We will coordinate with your teams on the ground and translate what we can. Not everyone on the planet understands the Galactic standard language yet, so we will do our best. Patch us in to your commslink and we will assist where we can."
"Sir yes, Sir!" The human saluted, then immediately charged back out of the station. Moments later, a new group of humans appeared and without orders, began to redirect communications and show us bodycam footage from the ground.

What followed was the single largest and most grueling disaster relief campaign in seventy years. Twenty thousand ships. Two hundred million tons of medical supplies. Six hundred million tons of food and water. Two million humans working to save the lives of a hundred million people. Three and a half months of work.

After all was said and done, as many lives saved as possible, Human constructor fleets appeared with another surprise. They called them Manufactoriums, city sized ships with no armament or defense equipment, but cargo containers, construction drones and building hardware. Twenty two of them. It wasn't a ship in the traditional sense... to be honest it looked more like a children's block building set with giant engines. Big, fat, squared boxes with various patterns of armor plating mounted on a set of giant starship thrusters.

They landed on the planets surface and began to, for lack of a better term, unpack themselves. They landed, then a system of... i guess robots, started to unpack the blocky monster. Within hours, the ships had disappeared and turned into organized and perfected geometric patterns. They essentially made a prepackaged city and flew it out to act as a replacement for the city that was destroyed. Millions homeless, now almost instantly rehoused.

All the humans asked for in return was that we honor trade agreements and maintain the Alliance.

***************************************************************************

And so here we stand, many decades into the greatest and hopefully longest lasting friendship in history as Humanity rapidly carves itself into our hearts and our minds, with their increasingly erratic and interesting behavior. They are the only species in galactic history - that we are aware of anyway - to not immediately attempt to forge a galactic hegemony or engage in a genocide without due cause.

They are also one of extremely few species that everybody likes. Most like their presence or enjoy their company. Some simply ignore them. The few that don't like them are quick to change their minds when rescuers or negotiators arrive when a problem shows up.

Humans are here to stay. Hopefully for a damn long time.

Final Log: Khrakhan Eld, Jukhanian Ambassador to the Human Alliance. Stardate - Human Year 2386.

2023.03.30 18:55 TheCybersmith No: "Somehow Palpatine Returned" doesn't undermine Vader's Redemption...

...because Vader's choice to Return to the Light and become Anakin Skywalker again had no bearing on whether Palpatine lived or died.
There's an all-too-common take online that I fundamentally disagree with, and today I am going to address it... WITH TIMESTAMPS!
The take goes something like this:
"The return of Darth Sidious undermines VadeAnakin's decision to kill him, because now that choice has no consequence."
or, even more extreme:
The rise of the First Order undermines VadeAnakin's decision to institute the New Republic, because now that choice has no consequence."
There's a problem with these positions, though... they ascribe way more impact to Vader's choice than it ever originally had.
Let's rewind to Return of the Jedi. Luke surrenders to the Empire on Endor for two reasons:
  1. He fears that his presence will lure Vader to the Rebels, and endanger the mission.
  2. He hopes he can convince his Father to defect.
The moment he leaves the Rebel Pathfinder group, he has achieved objective 1.
He has full faith that his friends will down the shield, and destroy the Death Star. HIS DIALOGUE MAKES THIS CLEAR.
After his surrender, the stakes of his actions are PURELY PERSONAL. He might redeem Vader, save his own life, the life of his father, or he might not... but he won't impact the mission. He cannot. Nothing he does from that point until the end of the film has ANY IMPACT on galactic politics. It's all personal stakes. When Vader elects not to take Luke's initial offer, Luke accepts that he will die, his father will die, and that there will be no redemption.
But what about the Emperor himself, I hear you ask?
He'd have died anyway. He makes it 100% clear that he had no intention of leaving, nobody could or would tell him that the situation has changed, and the space station he is standing in was about to turn into rubble.
1 hour, 32: minutes: Luke tells the Emperor, in explicit terms, that both of them will soon be dead.
"Soon, I'll be dead, and you along with me."
The emperor disagrees, citing the legion of troops on Endor, and the operational nature of the Death Star.
Crucially... if he doesn't learn that this is incorrect with enough time to leave, he's going to die. The explosion will kill him.
I'll repeat that.
If the Emperor had not left the Death Star before it exploded, he would have died no matter what Vader did or didn't do.
So, the question then becomes: would he have left?
I argue that he would not have.
As Luke rightly points out (again, this is all EXPLICIT DIALOGUE):
"Your overconfidence is your weakness"
The emperor has absolute faith in his soldiers, his ships, his weapons. He is sure they cannot fail him. So sure, in fact, that he never indicates any plan to leave. So sure that he conducts his attempted conversion of Luke aboard the very structure that is under attack.
1 hour, 55 minutes: the shield generator explodes. Lando IMMEDIATELY realises the shield is down, and so, presumably, does everyone else with functioning sensors. The Emperor? He continues to speak slowly and calmly (albeit with notable contempt), and chooses a very slow and tortuous method to kill the unarmed and defenceless enemy before him.
He either does not know that the shield is down, meaning that his underlings have orders not to disturb him, which is plausible, as he sent even his guards away (technically, it's possible that they could tell him, but refuse to, for fear of his retribution; I think this is possible, given how scared Jerjerrod was of him); or he knows and doesn't care! In either case, there's no indication that he was going to do anything different!
1 hour, 57 minutes: Vader turns on, and kills, his master.
1 hour, 58 minutes: Rebel ships actually enter the superstructure. If ever there was a time to alert the Emperor, it would be now. And yet... no alarms in the Throne room.
1 hour, 59 minutes, 42 seconds: Luke and his dying father have left the throne room. Tie Pilots are scrambling everyone is at battle-stations, but there are still unattended shuttles. This is not a full evacuation. There has not been a call to Abandon Ship, because they are able to have a full conversation before Anakin finally dies... and nobody pushes past them, or tells them to board the shuttle. The Empire is still fighting, the people aboard the Death Star DO NOT EXPECT TO DIE.
Luke -alone- recognises the need to leave, because he has, as the Emperor puts it:
"faith in [his] friends"
Luke believes the Alliance will destroy the Death Star, but nobody else, including (especially?) the Emperor does.
And... that's it.
2 hours, 3 minutes: The explosive shockwave from the Death Star's reactor reaches the surface. Anyone still aboard is dead.
Palpatine was going to die there no matter what. Had Vader allowed him to torture Luke to death, Darth Sidious would have sat in his throne cackling for six minutes until the resulting shockwave turned his bones to splinters and ruptured his stomach.
Vader's last words to his son were purely personal. No "here is how you should run the new Galactic Government", or even "here's how you should run the Jedi Order".
"Balancing the Force" meant redeeming himself and saving his son's life, not killing his master or replacing the Empire with the New Republic, because THOSE THINGS WOULD HAVE OCCURED ANYWAY.
Thanks to Vader, his child lived a full lifespan.
Thanks to Vader, the ideology of the Jedi triumphed, and the prophecy was fulfilled.
Thanks to Vader, sinners found hope of atonement, and the new regime was one built on an ideal of mercy.
None of that was undone by the First Order, or the cloning experiments on Exegol.
But to act as if the events of the sequels undermined Vader's sacrifice is to ascribe to them entirely too much weight!
That story thread in RotJ was a personal and spiritual one. It NEVER had direct astropolitical consequences!

2023.03.30 18:53 Snoo-76353 Data driven closed loop LQG control

Hi, I've been struggling to understand how to implement an LQG controller into my problem. My problem involves fluid flow where I take direct numerical simulations using computational fluid dynamics software, I extract my velocity at sensor points. Due to the high order problem, its important that I reduced the dimension of my problem using techniques such as Proper Orthogonal Decomposition (POD). I then want to design an estimator, where i used subspace identification (with no input) to get my state space matrices, this will then help to be use for the Kalman filter. Onto controller design, I first excited my system with a signal u, did the POD again, used the subspace identification again (but with an input u this time). I now have my state space matrices. I am confused after this point on how to design my LQG controller.
Any suggestions or pointers towards informationwould be much appreciated.

2023.03.30 18:52 Formal-Mud-990 For what it's worth this is the proof for later when some try to say I didn't try

Misinform comes in all shapes and sizes. To all degrees and extents. In ever form and fashion's conceivable. Only as limited as the limitless stretch of human imagination. I strongly encourage to do google checks on any and indeed all if you can manage the parts of this you don't understand or believe to be correct. I challenge you to prove it wrong with reliable and trustworthy sources. If I am wrong then you proved it. An only time was lost. If I'm right . Then it is your future loved ones who are yet to be born that are lost. If that seems worth checking into then I say do it.
As a life long Minnesota home grown individual. I tend to believe as a whole MN is better . Better then those who will blindly follow without doing the due diligence of staying the course when necessary and going around when need arise. Maybe I'm wrong there too huh?
Earl Miller along with alot of original top level of various positions like head of marketing, the guy who made the thumbs up like icon on face book is a specific example for instance, all agree on attention grabbing tactics being used to work for the interest of someone rich. Misinformation comes in all shapes and sizes. all Forms and fashions. To all conceivable degrees and extents. As countless and limitless as the ppls own personal perspectives allows them. It can be on purpose on accident. For fun for harm and even just for the fuck of it. This is a problem for us all that can only get worse the longer it goes unaddressed. Trickle down economics: Reaganomics as it's sometimes referred to as. The only responsibility of the corporation is that of the fiduciary responsibility to it's stock holders even at the expense of the stake holders, at the expense of the environment, and community. this is not the solution it is in fact the problem. It is the reason for 90% of the suffering by the 99% less rich then the top 1% of wealth holders. If I create money in my home it is considered bad counterfeit and illegal. When businesses do this with no money it is called " cooking the books" Also illegal. When private and commercial banks do it it is legal, and when you continue to allow fraud to remain legalized it creates a lot of problems that can have nothing done against them. In 1971 Nixon takes America off the gold standard system replaced with the FIAT system. Fiat is Latin for let it be so by the way. Only governments can make a Fiat currency. And only banks can create by lending. Central banks lend to investment banks , who lend to commercial banks, who lend to top corporations who go to giant govt contractors who then finally lend to borrowers. It was in 1932 that the glass steagall act was passed to help oppose this. Yet in 1999 treasury's Secretary at the time Larry summers as well as his predecessor Robert Rubin repealed this glass steagall act. Then congressman Hank Paulson more or less said if you don't bail is banks out for letting this problem occur via these methods ever citizens bank account emptys and they revolt and you lose so do what you got to make it borrow it whatever we need a 700 billion dollar bail out now. This is how along with Allen Greenspan's timely encouraging you get inflation and insurance causing subprime housing crises. The FED is the lobbyist for the commercial banking system. Plutocracy is government by the rich. Goldman Sachs uses money to buy influence in Congress to pass laws to make it easier to make money on wall street to buy more influence in Congress....one of the most influential investment banks of the world in Sept 2008, just about one month before the stock market crashed conveniently changed it's banking status from investment to commercial, this made it eligible for state protection. It was in ancient Greece that Pluto stated it should never be more then six to one ratio in financial pay between the highest and lowest paid position. It wasn't until 1923 that J.P Morgan said it was actually 20:1 as optimal difference. I'm sure him being a banker is just coincidence. Now just 100 years later it is sometimes 500:1 even 1000:1 and when the income inequality is in a ratio of 500 to 1 the whole concept of living may as well be between two different species. The difference in economy ideals the ways of living all together. The ranges of disparity is in entirely different brackets. One never seeing even the best of the worst of the other in any circumstances. There can be no sense of community's if there is no common ground on which to live next to one another. It takes good communities to raise good kids teaching them in good schools without biases and agendas other then that of allowing the next generation to be the most capable and competent when the time comes to pass the torch as no one can hold it up forever no matter how strong it must be passed. Human beings right now at this moment are acting to accelerate if not make it a certainty the lives of our grandchildren will be worsening. More world wide famine disease and war. All creating more death . We all follow suit unquestionably due to the slavery of greed stemmed from this income inequalities. We do this even though we all love our grand kids when over a time any system is built to create laws for legalization and moral codes for the justifying these walks of life. We do I think deserve to be walked on by them. For if that is not so then it is equally as not so possible for us to rise together for the future of mankind. Truly then and only then will the systemic changes necessary for elimination of the evils allowing this way of life. The American declaration of independence states the following in it's article 11 but for those saying I take what I want out of context to suit my own ends...yes that is correct. I would encourage all to go when able and read the thing in it's entirety to see the context for themselves. --" All experience has shown that mankind is more disposed to suffer- Whilst evils are sufferable- then to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed."-- American declaration of independence --"God made all men equal and gave them the rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit to happiness. That to secure these rights governments are instituted amongst men deriving there just powers from the consent of governed. That when any form of government becomes destructive of these ends. It is the rights of the people,it is the duty, to alter or abolish it and institute new guards for there future security."-- George Washington (1796) - In his farewell address, President Washington discussed the dangers of political factions and foreign entanglements. He warned that excessive partisanship and international alliances could undermine the unity and independence of the country. Washington's concerns reflected the challenges facing the young nation as it sought to establish a stable and democratic government, while also dealing with powerful European powers and internal divisions. In his farewell address in 1796, President George Washington warned of the dangers of political parties and foreign entanglements, and called on Americans to preserve unity and avoid division.
Andrew Johnson (1869) - In his farewell address, President Johnson discussed the importance of constitutional government and the rule of law, and warned against the dangers of corruption and abuse of power. Johnson's presidency had been marked by conflict with Congress and controversy over his approach to Reconstruction following the Civil War. Hoover had been widely criticized for his handling of the Depression, and had faced growing calls for government intervention in the economy. His farewell address reflected his belief in the importance of self-reliance and individual initiative, but also acknowledged the need for collective action and government assistance in times of crisis. In his farewell address in 1933, President Herbert Hoover discussed the challenges of the Great Depression, and called on Americans to work together to address economic and social problems.

Johnson spoke about the need for continued progress on issues like civil rights and poverty, and called on Americans to remain committed to the values of justice and equality.
Franklin D. Roosevelt (1938) - In his "Message to Congress on Curbing Monopolies," President Roosevelt was responding to a growing concern among Americans about the power of big business and monopolies. During the Great Depression, many people felt that corporations were exploiting workers and consumers, and that the government needed to step in to protect the interests of the people. Roosevelt's speech called for stronger government regulation of the economy, including antitrust laws to break up monopolies and promote competition. Roosevelt argued that a fair and just society required strong government intervention to prevent abuses by powerful economic interests.
Harry S. Truman (1951) - In his "Labor Day Address," President Truman was responding to concerns among workers about the state of the American economy. Truman argued that the government had a responsibility to protect workers' rights and freedoms, and to ensure that the economy worked for everyone, not just the wealthy. Truman called for stronger government regulation of the economy to prevent abuses by employers and corporations, and to promote fair wages and working conditions for workers. Truman's speech reflected a growing concern among Americans about economic inequality and the need for government intervention to promote social justice.
Lyndon B. Johnson (1965) - In his "Special Message to the Congress: The Quality of American Life," President Johnson was responding to a range of social problems facing the country, including poverty, discrimination, and environmental degradation. Johnson's speech reflected a growing concern among Americans about the need for government intervention to address social and environmental problems.
Richard Nixon (1971) - In his "Message to the Congress on Reorganization of the Executive Branch," President Nixon was responding to concerns among conservatives about the size and power of the federal government. Nixon argued that excessive bureaucracy and regulation were stifling economic growth and innovation, and that government needed to be streamlined and made more efficient. Nixon's speech called for a reorganization of the executive branch of government to make it more effective and responsive to the needs of the American people. Nixon's speech reflected a growing concern among conservatives about the need to reduce the size and power of government
Bill Clinton (1993) - In his "Address to the Nation on Health Care Reform," President Clinton was responding to concerns among Americans about the high cost and limited access to health care. Clinton argued that the government had a responsibility to ensure access to affordable health care for all Americans, and that the current system was subject to unwarranted influence by special interests. Clinton's speech called for comprehensive health care reform, including new regulations to control costs and expand coverage. Clinton's speech reflected a growing concern among Americans about the need for government intervention to address the problems in the health care system.
John F. Kennedy (1961) - In his inaugural address, President Kennedy famously called on Americans to "ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country." Kennedy's speech reflected his belief in the importance of civic responsibility and public service, and his hope that Americans would be willing to work together to address the challenges facing the country.
Jimmy Carter (1979) - In his "Crisis of Confidence" speech, President Carter discussed the need for Americans to confront the energy crisis, and to work together to build a more sustainable and equitable society. Carter's speech reflected his concern that the country was losing its sense of purpose and direction, and his belief in the importance of public engagement and citizen involvement.
Barack Obama (2009) - In his inaugural address, President Obama discussed the need for a new era of responsibility and citizenship, and called on Americans to work together to overcome the challenges facing the country. Donald Trump (2021) - In his farewell address, President Trump discussed his accomplishments as president, and called on Americans to continue to support his agenda and vision for the country. Trump's speech reflected his belief in the importance of strong borders, economic growth, and America-first policies, and his hope that his supporters would remain committed to these values in the years to come
Dwight D. Eisenhower (1961) - In his farewell address, President Eisenhower warned of the dangers of the military-industrial complex, and called on Americans to remain vigilant in protecting democratic values and institutions. Eisenhower had served as a general in World War II before becoming president, and had witnessed firsthand the growth of the military and defense industries during his time in office. His farewell address reflected his concern that the power of these industries could threaten the stability and security of the country, and his belief in the importance of maintaining a balance between military preparedness and civilian control.
Richard Nixon (1974) - In his resignation speech, President Nixon discussed the need for national healing and reconciliation following the Watergate scandal and his resignation from office. Nixon's presidency had been marked by significant achievements in foreign policy and domestic issues, but had also been marred by corruption and abuse of power. His resignation speech reflected his recognition of the damage done to the country by the Watergate scandal, and his hope that the country could move past it and focus on the future.
Ronald Reagan (1989) - In his farewell address, President Reagan discussed the importance of individual freedom and limited government, and called on Americans to remain committed to these values. Reagan's presidency had been marked by a conservative shift in American politics, and he had championed policies like tax cuts, deregulation, and increased military spending. His farewell address reflected his belief in the importance of these policies in promoting economic growth and national security, and his hope that they would continue to guide American policy in the future.
In his 1936 State of the Union address, President Franklin D. Roosevelt expressed concern about the increasing concentration of economic power in the hands of a few large corporations and wealthy individuals. He argued that the government had a responsibility to protect the rights of workers and consumers and to promote competition and economic opportunity for all Americans.
In his 1961 farewell address, President Dwight D. Eisenhower warned of the potential dangers of the close relationship between the military and the defense industry. He believed that this could lead to the creation of a powerful military-industrial complex that would distort national priorities and threaten individual liberties.
President Jimmy Carter's 1979 speech on the energy crisis reflected his concern that excessive government regulation was hindering the development of alternative energy sources and impeding economic growth. He called for a more balanced approach to energy policy that would promote conservation, innovation, and private investment.
In his 1981 inaugural address, President Ronald Reagan expressed his belief that government had become too large and too intrusive, and that excessive regulation was stifling economic growth and individual freedom. He advocated for a smaller, more limited government that would give individuals and businesses more control over their own lives.
In his 1992 State of the Union address, President George H.W. Bush was responding to concerns that government regulations were placing an undue burden on businesses and impeding economic growth. He called for a "regulatory bill of rights" that would give citizens and businesses greater protection against unnecessary government interference.
In his 2000 State of the Union address, President Bill Clinton called for a renewed focus on economic growth and innovation, emphasizing the importance of investing in education, research and development, and technology. He also highlighted the need for greater economic opportunity for all Americans.
In his 2008 campaign speech on the economy, then-Senator Barack Obama called for a more balanced approach to economic policy that would address growing income inequality, promote job growth, and provide greater support for the middle class.
In his 2011 State of the Union address, President Barack Obama emphasized the need to invest in education, innovation, and infrastructure in order to promote long-term economic growth. He also called for greater cooperation between government and business to create jobs and spur economic development. In his 1936 State of the Union address, President Franklin D. Roosevelt was responding to the increasing concentration of economic power in the hands of a few large corporations and wealthy individuals, which he saw as a threat to American democracy. He argued that the government had a responsibility to protect the rights of workers and consumers and to promote competition and economic opportunity for all Americans.

They also show how these addresses can be used to call attention to important issues and values, and to set the tone for future national debates and policies. Eariguardless of your side or preference.for perceived better or worse. In this there is togetherness that is truly American at heart.

Tax cuts Deregulation of industries Changes to government spending priorities Infrastructure spending Presidential remarks during economic upswings:
Claims credit for economic growth and job creation Proposes tax cuts or other measures to continue economic growth Promises to maintain fiscal responsibility and decrease government debt levels Many of these systemic changes have persisted from their time of origin to present day, although the specifics may vary depending on the time period and the context. For example, government spending on social welfare programs tends to increase during economic downturns and decrease during economic upswings, but the specific programs and amounts of funding may change over time. Similarly, tax policy changes and deregulation can have long-lasting impacts on the economy, but the specific policies and their effects will depend on the political and economic context. Other systemic changes, such as changes in unemployment rates, GDP growth, and income inequality, may be more cyclical and subject to fluctuations over time. However, even these changes can be influenced by long-term factors such as technological innovation, demographic shifts, and globalization. George Washington, who warned against the dangers of political factions and the concentration of power in his farewell address. Abraham Lincoln, who famously described democracy as "government of the people, by the people, for the people" in his Gettysburg Address. Franklin D. Roosevelt, who championed the New Deal as a way to restore economic power to ordinary Americans and protect them against the excesses of the wealthy and powerful. Lyndon B. Johnson, who declared a "war on poverty" and passed legislation like the Voting Rights Act and the Civil Rights Act to promote greater equality and fairness in society. Barack Obama, who frequently spoke out against income inequality and the influence of big money in politics, and who warned of the dangers of authoritarianism and polarization in his farewell address. Dwight D. Eisenhower, who warned against the dangers of the military-industrial complex and emphasized the need for balance between national security and civil liberties. Ronald Reagan, who championed conservative principles such as free market capitalism and individual liberty, but who also spoke out against government corruption and waste, and who signed into law the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986, which granted amnesty to millions of undocumented immigrants George H.W. Bush, who championed a "kinder, gentler" conservatism and who signed into law the Americans with Disabilities Act, which prohibited discrimination against individuals with disabilities
Gerald Ford, who emphasized the need for transparency and accountability in government and who sought to heal divisions in the wake of the Watergate scandal Richard Nixon, who championed conservative policies such as law and order and the war on drugs, but who also signed into law important environmental and workplace safety legislation, and who famously declared in his second inaugural address that "we cannot learn from one another until we stop shouting at one another" John Quincy Adams, who spoke out against slavery and who called for greater investment in education and science, and who famously declared that "if your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader." James Madison, who helped draft the U.S. Constitution and who championed principles such as federalism and separation of powers, and who famously declared in Federalist No. 10 that a well-constructed government can control the effects of factions and prevent them from undermining democracy. Thomas Jefferson, who championed democratic principles such as individual liberty, religious freedom, and popular sovereignty, and who famously declared in the Declaration of Independence that "all men are created equal."
Andrew Jackson, who championed the interests of the common man and who fought against the power of entrenched elites, but who also faced criticism for his treatment of Native Americans and his expansion of executive power Franklin Pierce, who emphasized the importance of compromise and reconciliation in the face of political divisions, but who also faced criticism for his support of pro-slavery policies and his handling of the issue of states' rights James K. Polk, who presided over a period of territorial expansion and economic growth, but who also faced criticism for his aggressive foreign policy and his handling of the issue of slavery in the territories James Monroe, who championed the principles of nationalism and self-determination, and who famously declared in his Monroe Doctrine that the United States would not tolerate European interference in the affairs of the Western Hemisphere John Adams, who helped draft the Declaration of Independence and who emphasized the importance of civic virtue and education in maintaining a healthy democracy, but who also faced criticism for his handling of the issue of free speech during the Alien and Sedition Acts. Again, as we go further back in history, the language and context of presidential speeches may differ from what we are accustomed to today, but many of the underlying principles and ideals remain relevant and important.
Martin Van Buren, who championed the principles of limited government and individual liberty, and who emphasized the importance of protecting the rights of minorities and marginalized groups William Henry Harrison, who emphasized the importance of public service and civic responsibility, and who called for greater investment in infrastructure and public works projects James Buchanan, who emphasized the importance of preserving the Union and upholding the Constitution, but who also faced criticism for his handling of the issue of slavery and his failure to prevent the outbreak of the Civil War Millard Fillmore, who championed the principles of free trade and religious tolerance, and who signed into law the Compromise of 1850, which sought to resolve the issue of slavery in the territories Zachary Taylor, who emphasized the importance of national unity and the preservation of the Union, and who faced criticism for his handling of the issue of states' rights and his failure to prevent the outbreak of the Civil War.
Franklin D. Roosevelt, who championed the principles of social justice and economic equality, and who led the country through the Great Depression and World War II, and who famously declared in his first inaugural address that "the only thing we have to fear is fear itself" Harry S. Truman, who emphasized the importance of international cooperation and who oversaw the establishment of the United Nations and the Marshall Plan, but who also faced criticism for his handling of the issue of civil rights and his decision to drop atomic bombs on Japan Dwight D. Eisenhower, who championed the principles of national security and economic growth, and who oversaw the construction of the interstate highway system and the launch of the space race, but who also faced criticism for his handling of the issue of civil rights and his reluctance to push for greater social and economic reforms John F. Kennedy, who emphasized the importance of civil rights and social justice, and who led the country through the Cuban Missile Crisis and the early years of the Cold War, but who also faced criticism for his handling of the Bay of Pigs invasion and his personal life and character Lyndon B. Johnson, who championed the principles of civil rights and social welfare, and who oversaw the passage of important legislation such as the Civil Rights Act and the Voting Rights Act, but who also faced criticism for his handling of the Vietnam War and his expansion of the federal government's role in domestic affairs. Again, these examples span a wide range of historical eras and political contexts, but they all demonstrate the ways in which presidential speeches and policies can have a lasting impact on American society and its political and economic systems.
On how Presidential speeches and policies can have a significant impact on American society id point to the following.
Presidential speeches can inspire and mobilize the public to support certain policy initiatives or social movements. For instance, Franklin D. Roosevelt's famous Fireside Chats during the Great Depression helped to restore confidence in the government and laid the groundwork for the New Deal, while John F. Kennedy's call to "ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country" inspired a generation of Americans to volunteer and engage in public service.
Presidential policies can have far-reaching effects on the economy, including on employment, wages, and the distribution of wealth. For example, Ronald Reagan's policies of deregulation and tax cuts in the 1980s helped to stimulate economic growth and job creation, but also led to rising income inequality and a decline in union membership. Similarly, Barack Obama's stimulus package and health care reform efforts in the wake of the 2008 financial crisis helped to stabilize the economy and expand access to health care, but also faced criticism for their cost and potential long-term effects.
Presidential speeches and policies can also shape the country's political and social structures, including issues such as civil rights, immigration, and foreign policy. For example, Lyndon B. Johnson's support for the Civil Rights Act and the Voting Rights Act helped to dismantle legal segregation and expand voting rights for African Americans, while Donald Trump's policies on immigration and trade reshaped the country's relationship with its neighbors and with the world.
And while arguably at worst and debatable at best I'd summarize it by way of how It's difficult to quantify exactly how many presidential speeches and policies have lasting effects to the present day, as the impact of a given speech or policy can depend on a wide range of factors, including historical context, political opposition, and implementation challenges. However, it's safe to say that many of the examples we've discussed earlier in this conversation have had a significant and lasting impact on American society and its political and economic structures. For instance:
The New Deal programs and reforms initiated by Franklin D. Roosevelt during the Great Depression continue to shape the country's social safety net and regulatory framework, with programs like Social Security and the National Labor Relations Act still in place today.
The civil rights legislation passed during the 1960s, including the Civil Rights Act and the Voting Rights Act, helped to dismantle legal segregation and expand voting rights for African Americans, although issues of racial inequality and discrimination persist to this day.
The deregulation and tax cuts implemented during the Reagan era continue to shape the country's economic policies and debates, with questions about the role of government in the economy and the distribution of wealth remaining hotly contested.
The health care reform efforts of the Obama administration, including the Affordable Care Act, have had a lasting impact on the country's health care system and access to care, although challenges to its implementation and ongoing political opposition continue to shape the debate.
These are just a few examples, but they demonstrate how presidential speeches and policies can have a lasting impact on American society and its political and economic structures.
The Marshall Plan, proposed by Harry Truman in 1947, helped to rebuild Europe after World War II and cemented the United States' role as a global superpower.
The War on Poverty and Great Society programs, initiated by Lyndon B. Johnson in the 1960s, helped to reduce poverty and expand access to education and health care for millions of Americans, although issues of poverty and inequality remain a challenge today.
The Clean Air Act and Clean Water Act, passed under Richard Nixon in the 1970s, helped to protect the environment and improve public health, although debates over environmental regulation and climate change continue to be major issues today.
The Americans with Disabilities Act, signed into law by George H.W. Bush in 1990, helped to expand access and opportunities for people with disabilities, although challenges to implementation and ongoing debates over disability rights and accommodations remain.
1987 CDC knew how and who aids would most likely effect and harm. Instead of being helpful and precise a fear campaign was launched. " Aids will explode into the hetero sexual community." , So instead a lot of in reality not even needed but now clogging the lines for those who do from being tested, Was said on commercials to the public at large. Just like covid is not Russian roulette, and of course technically anything can kill anyone or anything else at any time, yea sure it's not wrong. That is the just the law of the universe and as such it applies at all times to all things regardless of gender , race economic status , or personal preference of the plethora of human enjoyments practiced throughout the ages. As of may 2021 according to the CDC 75% of covid deaths are 65 years or older in America. 98-99% of those are unvaccinated.
So if if your 65 years old or older and not vaccinated don't go crowd surfing at a concert or you will probably be a goner.
The easy said an not implemented as easy as said I get that but none the less a fact for it Solution here is simply put help the most vulnerable after discovery of who that is and how to do so. Not to panic into a pandemic Robbing kids of education and sanity via stupid ,pointless , unhelpful, horrible means. Just to parade them around like masked bandits is both as ironic as it is ignorant. And what the whole world was doing not so long ago.when the same people in private health care, who are the very ones always saying to go get a second opinion, want to allow only one in the public debate you have problems. Problems including but not limited too Countless prescriptions labeled effective, safe , now giving out lawsuits for those who took them.

2023.03.30 18:47 11th_whorebinger Vent about keto/need some reassurance but just need to get it all out (TW)

I have a history of anorexia where I would restrict myself for months in isolation, had a period of vomiting at least once or twice a day until I vomited up blood and had to visit the ER. This was a couple of years ago and it was a really dark and lonely time and possibly some of my most traumatic memories thinking back on it.
Since then I have somewhat recovered from it, mostly alone through radical self acceptance, having actual stuff to do in my life and having a support network/friends in general. The ED never really left my mind though, I have always constantly been focusing on what I eat/other people eat, afraid of certain foods like oil and butter and phases of being afraid of bread. I always had to ask and check if my SO was eating enough and sometimes couldn't even eat in front of them if they weren't also eating. It's like my mind was constantly checking and comparing without me actively wanting to or making the conscious decision to. I've also constantly been struggling with extreme self hatred towards my body. My biggest passion, cosplay, has also become my absolute cryptonite for my ED (partially what kickstarted it in the first place) with how literally every single cosplayer deemed 'the best' and 'most popular' is (edited to be) tall, extremely thin, androgynous (as in, no curves whatsoever), white and edited to have a thousand filters so their makeup and bone structure looks even more flawless. It's all about being a thin fucking model. And it's fucked up my brain to think that in order to be presentable at X convention or have an active social media account again, I should first starve myself and then build muscle so I can also be one of those 'perfect' cosplayers.
But, yeah, the past years my ED has been more manageable. Not the self-consciouss thoughts per se, but I wouldn't say it impacted me to extreme degrees that I really felt 'disordered' in my behaviour again.
At the beginning of this year though, I noticed my ED thoughts flare up again. I've been depressed and have severe OCD for which I've been trying to get proper help for literal years now, and I finally started therapy like... this month. But it's at the very beginning though so nothing major has changed yet. I also have autism, ADHD and chronic fatigue so I am currently unable to have a job and had to quit university twice because it was way too much without a proper support network.
I'm sorry, this is all over the place. But I have to get it out even if it isn't coherent. I've never vented about this anywhere before.
In December I started working on fixing my sleep schedule (I used to fall asleep at like 7 AM) and I in general really wanted to work on feeling better. Being healthier. Loving myself more and getting more energy. The following month I did actually make some progress, but I was aware of how 'getting healthier' for me could spiral into really toxic behaviour again, so I warned my mom and SO about it.
And, well, it did.
I have some big events coming up this spring and summer and my mind was constantly telling me I had to change in order to look perfect and presentable. I have literally nothing on hands in my life and was trying to get control over it by 'getting better', so my ED was like ''Hi!". Even though I was aware of its dangers and presence in the back of my mind. So I convinced myself I had to lose a lot of weight and exercise every day in order to e.g. see my friends again 2 months later. So I was constantly looking for ways to do this as effectively as possible. Cue: Keto : -)
What better way to convince yourself you're not really 'eating disordered' but 'taking care of yourself' than to start a new diet which restricts an entire food group in order to change your body!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I read that it could help with OCD, that people got mental clarity, slept better, lost tons of weight and felt like Jesus himself had basically descended and given them the gift of a perfect life forever.
I was struggling with all of those things, so of course I wanted to do keto. It was perfect for me, it was right for me. It was my new gateway to a perfect life and more control, I would finally be happy and people would admire me and I could finally do what I enjoy most again without shame or feeling self conscious! So I did. And I didn't tell anyone. Didn't visit my SO that whole month, was barely online, was on keto subreddits literally all day, was body checking like every 5 minutes. Read about IF (intermittent fasting) and tried to implement it but felt guilty when I was feeling a bit hungry while skipping breakfast, or couldn't fast for longer than 14-16 hours. Was only eating eggs, fish and greens and felt guilty for implementing stuff like mayonaisse, nuts, peanut butter and raspberries bc they were either too high in calories or had too many carbs and I was stressed out all day thinking about my carb intake after eating 6 walnuts or 10 raspberries in my keto yoghurt with cocoa powder.
Thing is, I did feel like my OCD lessened and I slept better? I did lose weight (water weight ofc but water weight is also desirable to lose bc then you look....slimmer ugh). I never used a scale though and didn't religiously counted calories because I didn't want to be 'disordered' and wanted to look out for myself but. Lol. Man. I put my whole life on hold for 5 weeks and severely restricted myself, didn't go out and avoided social stuff and didn't have energy at all, started drinking black coffee even though I found it disgusting before and also relied on caffeine all morning and afternoon so I at least could get through the day while fasting. I felt guilty for eating ''too many eggs / fish'' or ''too much keto yoghurt'' but looking back I'm like. Bro I didn't eat enough. But then my ED brain is like>! ''yes you did. you even ate too much you ****"????? !constantly focused on it, constantly preoccupied with keto thoughts and losing weight, and body checking 24/7. I was constantly lonely and miserable and low energy and scared of social settings or someone finding out and forcing me to eat carbs. I was dreaming about eating 'bad' foods and woke up feeling guilty.
Then last weekend there was a social event with friends where we were gonna eat nachos and someone had made cake and I missed them all so much and I really wanted to go but even 2 weeks before the event I had already decided in my mind that I could not go no matter what bc it was too scary and it would fuck up my ketosis. But I was trying to battle so hard against it and I finally opened up about my struggles to my SO again and I did eventually decide to go and it was SO scary. I left my piece of cake on the plate all evening and I almost cried in front of everyone when I ate a nacho bc that was the first time in like 5 weeks I ate something that had 'a carb'.
I felt so happy to be with them though and I was so proud of myself and I felt so good but I was so afraid of having a breakdown about eating that evening... and I did. And then came the extreme cravings which I was SO afraid of. I did eat the little piece of apple cake at the end of the evening and it was SO good I again almost cried because I had missed the pleasure of food and sharing it with friends so much. It's such an important and healthy cultural thing to not just see food as fuel but explore a vast amount of flavours with the people you love. But that evening I started craving carbs like crazy. At home I suddenly couldn't stop the feeling of intense hunger and ate savory waffles with chocolate spread and lots of bread with butter and I got so full my stomach was so bloated but my mind and mouth(??) still weren't satisfied and I cried for 2 hours about it on the phone with my SO. The day after I was so scared I did keto again, then the day after I had immense hunger and 'binged' again on bread with chocolate spread and the day after again- that was yesterday - and I just suddenly am SO hungry and craving carbs and sugar and chocolate and shit and I am so scared of eating too much and 'bingeing' and shit. My ED is panicking SO much and telling me to go back to keto but my body is like, it feels deprived and like it HAS to eat all this??? I know extreme hunger exists but it's not like I've only been eating 200 calories a day for 3 years or something so it just feels like I'm out of control bingeing and disgusting and it's all not justified and I just have to start keto restriction again to even it out and also add exercise but I am SO depressed about it all. I want to STOP THINKING about this bullshit I just want to LOVE my body and feel happy and energised and have a fulfilling life with friends and people I love what the FUCK I fucking HATE this so much.
But my brain is still like,>! ''well you went into it with the right intentions and only did this for 5 weeks or something and you did eat, just not carbs, so you're probably just too weak to do keto because you know, the whole keto subreddit is so positive about it and you're just being a piece of shit about it because you're weak and you don't even have an ED lol look at all these real anorexics you'll never be like them, you have a normal body and you'll never be underweight you'll never get there so why even bother. now you're just eating so much bc you're weak and you slipped so get back to fucking keto and restriction''!<
Anyway I feel like a fraud and a scam like I don't really have an ED but I know I do but I'm also full of doubt and I'm just so depressed. I'm sorry I just needed to vent. If anyone read this far, thank you and I'm sorry I don't feel like I deserve or am allowed to take up much space anywhere even on a subreddit meant for ED help

2023.03.30 18:44 garmdian Why since Jedi under siege the subtlety of the series is taken the forefront.

I've seen a lot of people complain about the story beats since Jedi under siege and while I admit I would love to see more classes based content I know that the best I'll get us imagining what my character would do in that moment and how they would run their allience.
But I think it's extremely clever that the devs wrote us into a supporting role rather than some grand place among Waring factions. We're still respected but our motivations stem from 2 things: building ourself back up as imperial/republic citizens or going undercover in order to undermine those institutions.
In both cases it allows our character to take a back seat, play that supporting role to help a major faction and still keep us open enough that if another faction (like the Mandalorians) need our help we can justifiably drop what we are doing and help them. Whether we play subterfuge and undermine everyone's efforts is up to us and there is real story impact for hard choices.
Legacy of the Sith has had 2 great choices for players to mull over, securing the kolto for the republic and helping Shae in the arena, for the republic side you need to widen the gap between the selkath and the republic but gain enough medical supplies to allow for better deployment of troops down the line and for Shae you can work with or against her for various reasons so while all the mando politics is going on you can choose your line in the sand, let Shae win and possibly help the Mandalorians get the support they need or betray them to funnel supplies to/out of your faction hands and remove the darmanda as a threat.
In any option while we do take more of a passive role those key moments are caused and decided by the player, we gain less control over our immediate story for the sake of an overarching one.
Lastly before I close out I just wanted to say is a I get people may not like new content but remember that some people do like it and both are valid, there will always be those that complain about everything and others that couldn't care less, this is just my opinion on the matter and it's ok if you disagree you opinion is just a valid as mine.

2023.03.30 18:37 JackRosier PC Gamepass users NEVER get updates on time

This is yet another post about not getting the updates if you play on PC Gamepass UNLESS you reinstall the entire game.
There have been two hotfixes in the last 15 days. It’s not fair we have to reinstall the game so often in order to be able to play on official servers after every update.
Anyone has any solution other than a reinstall? I’ve seen similar threads and they never have another solution, but maybe someone knows something new this time around… Maybe we could delete some files to force an update or a repair that comes along with the update?
I asked the Xbox support team about this, this is my chat log with them:
XBOX Support team: Hello Erick, thank you for reaching out to Xbox Support, We apologize for the inconvenience caused, But can you please elaborate more on the issue your having ?
Me: Sure. I don't know why this happens, and I'm not the only one experiencing this issue. I'm also not sure if this happens with every single game available on the PC Gamepass, but it certainly always happens with Conan Exiles. Everytime Funcom (Conan Exile's developers) releases an update, it becomes instantly available in stores like Steam or Epic. However, it never shows up in the PC Gamepass on time. The first time I noticed this issue, I was trying to log into an official online Conan Exiles server, but it showed up as invalid, even though my Steam friends could join in immediately. This went on for days. Even after clicking the "Search for updates" button, it never said there was an update available. I read in a forum that the only way to solve this was either waiting for up to a couple of weeks for the Gamepass to make the update available, or to reinstall the game.
What I don't understand is, why does the game comes with the update included if I reinstall it, but if I don't reinstall it and I only click the update option, the Gamepass says there are no updates available
This is a major issue as Conan Exiles is mainly an online game, and if I don't have the latest update installed, I just can't join the official servers. It's not an appropriate solution to reinstall the game every time there's an update just to be able to play, as the game size is 90gb.
Yesterday there was a hotfix and Steam and Epic users were able to install that minor update with no issues at all, but us PC Gamepass users either had to reinstall the game, or wait for the update to be available. I tried to update it in the morning, and the update was not available, I tried again in the afternoon and it still wasn't available. As this has happened before, I just ended up reinstalling the game for the fourth time since I started playing. Once again, how come if you reinstall the game, it comes with the new update included, but such update always takes way, way, way too long to become available for everyone who already has the game installed? Sorry if I repeated myself too much, I wanted to be as clear as possible with what the issue is.
XBOX Support team: We apologize for the late reply, it's due to the high volume of messages, Can you please try on a different game to see if the issue with the game itself ?
Me: That's not how game updates work. How could I know when a game is going to be updated so that I download it before the update comes out?
XBOX Support team: We apologize for the inconvenience caused, But when we check the updates for games are pushed by the game developers.
Me: So, let me get this right
My Steam friends have been able to play Conan Exiles with the new update for almost a week now.
I uninstalled the game and installed it again, and I also have the update.
But my friends who play it through PC Gamepass who have not reinstalled the game like I did, can't play the game yet, because the update hasn't been released on PC Gamepass Even though Funcom told us they release the update for all platforms at the same time.
What gives? where does it go wrong?
XBOX Support team: Hello Erick! We are terribly sorry to know that you are going through this. Please accept our deep apologies for the inconvenience. We would like to inform you Erick is this is something that the game developers must address because we have no control over the game's updates. The only thing We can advise is to avoid reinstalling the game when there is an update for it is to go to the Microsoft store on PC, go to the updates tab, and try starting the update from there rather than from the Xbox app. Can you also please verify that Xbox app and all gaming services is up-to-date including Microsoft Store and Windows OS. We will be looking forwards to your reply. :)
Me: I did exactly what you told me to. I checked for OS and Microsoft store updates, there was nothing. I then checked if I could update Conan Exiles through the Microsoft Store, and no update showed up. Today there was yet another hotfix, and it just does not show up anywhere. Not after checking for updates like you told me to, and not through the usual methods. Once again, the only solution I can see is to reinstall the game, for the fifth or sixth time now.

2023.03.30 18:31 Maleficent_Plankton The Complete Guide to Moons (Compilation of multiple guides) [Mar 2023]

Intro

The purpose of this guide is to combine all other guides

This is a complete starter's guide to Moons.
We have too many guides on Moons in both CC and CryptoCurrencyMoons (the latter being the proper sub to discuss Moons). Most of them are incomplete and likely poor attempts at Moon farming.
I've decided to consolidate the 30+ other guides written over the past couple of years into a single guide (or at least link to them). Hopefully, this will be complete enough to avoid getting coached by an XKCD comic.
Please comment below if you spot any corrections that need to be made.

What are Moons?

They are an ERC-20 token (with no supply cap) on the Arbitrum Nova (ArbNova) Layer 2 network of Ethereum. They are used for governance of the CryptoCurrency subreddit. Officially as far as Reddit is concerned, they have no value.
Once a month, Moons are distributed to members of the sub based on their accumulated post and comment karma. You can see everyone's balance using the official Reddit mobile app in the CryptoCurrency subreddit. Or by visiting new.reddit.com on a desktop browser.
There are many complex rules that govern the distribution of Moons, and I strongly recommended reading through them. For complete details, see the Wiki: https://np.reddit.com/CryptoCurrency/wiki/moons_wiki
One very important rule is CCIP-030, where your rewards distribution is reduced if you hold less than 75% of your earned Moons.
If you have generic questions about Moons that the Wiki, please ask on the CryptoCurrencyMoons sub. The mods usually remove any generic Moons posts on CC.

Reddit Vault Setup

Set up your Reddit Vault

  • The Reddit Vault is a mobile wallet that only works with the official Reddit mobile app
  • Open the Reddit Mobile app (not desktop)
  • Click on your User icon in the top right corner and select "Vault"
  • Open the Reddit Vault and safely your seed phrase in a secure location. Absolutely keep this seed phrase safe. If you lose it or share it, your account's tokens will be lost or stolen.
  • Press the settings icon at the top. Create a "password". Store this recovery password in a secure location too. I do NOT recommend using the Google cloud storage even though they say it's encrypted.
  • If you ever reset or reinstall your Reddit app, you can always access your account using either your seed phrase or your recovery password.
How to tip
On the CryptoCurrency sub, click on any user's name. There will be an option to tip them. Note that you need ETH gas to tip.
Unfortunately, due to CCIP-030, I do not recommend moving your Moons to a hardware wallet. Your distribution will be cut significantly if your moon balance falls below 75%.
If all you want to do is receive Moons and tip others, you can stop here.

MetaMask setup

Download Metamask and import your seed phrase.

  • Most people prefer to use a 3rd-party wallet to manage their tokens because it allows them to transfer their tokens, interact with smart contracts, and engage in DeFi.
  • I recommend the Metamask wallet extension in the desktop Chrome browser. (You can use any Ethereum-compatible wallet that supports the Arbitrum Nova and Polygon PoS. But not every wallet supports adding custom chains. Metamask is compatible with every network.)
  • If you already have wallet with an Ethereum account set up, you will want to create a fresh wallet for this. Create a new Chrome profile if needed.
  • After installing the extension or app, follow the directions to import the 12-word seed phrase you obtained from your Reddit Vault.
  • Set a password for the wallet. That's the password you'll need to type every time you want to access or unlock the wallet.

Connect to Arbitrum Nova

Import Moons

  • By default, Metamask does not automatically add tokens in order to avoid spam tokens. You have to manually add them.
  • In the "Assets" tab, scoll down to the bottom below the "Don't see your token?" section. Click on the "Import tokens" link.
  • Paste the Moons Contract address: 0x0057ac2d777797d31cd3f8f13bf5e927571d6ad0
  • Wait 5 seconds for it to load and then add the custom token.
  • If you need to manually add info, the Token Symbol is "MOON" and the Token Decimal is "18"

Getting Gas

Add ETH to your account on Arbitrum Nova

In order to make transactions and do anything on the Arbitrum Nova (ArbNova) network, you have to have Ether (ETH) gas on it. There are many ways to get gas on ArbNova:
  1. Bridge from a CEX: Unfortunately, if you check the Arbitrum Nova portal there isn't a single CEX that currently supports withdrawing ETH to ArbNova. You'll have to withdraw ETH to Arbitrum One first (Coinbase, Binance, and Kraken all support Arbitrum One). Then use a 3rd-party bridge to get to ArbNova.
  2. Use a 3rd-party bridge: Orbiter Finance is one of the few bridges that supports Ethereum, Polygon PoS, and nearly every Layer 2 network. Another option is Multichain
  3. Use the offical L1/L2 bridge: This is expensive and usually costs $5-10 of L1 Ethereum gas fees. It's also much slower than using a 3rd-party bridge.
The cheapest method is to use a CEX to withdraw to Arbitrum One, and then use Orbiter Fiannce to bridge from Arbitrum One to ArbNova.
Lastly, there is also a community gas faucet operated by the u/MOON2gas bot that runs on the CryptoCurrencyMoons subreddit.

Add MATIC to your account on Polygon PoS

There are several ways:
  1. Withdraw from a CEX: Many CEXs (e.g. Coinbase, Binance, and Kraken) support withdrawing MATIC directly to the Polygon PoS network. This is the cheapest method.
  2. Use the Polygon PoS bridge: Follow the directions in the Polygon Wallet Suite to bridge MATIC from Ethereum to Polygon PoS. This is much more expensive and will incur L1 Ethereum gas fees. It's also slow and sometimes takes up to an hour.
  3. Use a faucet: The MOON2gas faucet works for Polygon PoS too.

DeFi Matters

How to Swap Moon tokens, or Buy/Sell them

On DEXs: You can Swap Moons with other tokens like Ether.
  • The swap with the most liquidity on Arbitrum Nova is SushiSwap
  • Visit the SushiSwap app
  • In the top right corner, connect your wallet and set the network to Arbitrum Nova.
  • Pick the token you are trading and the one you want to receive. When you select the tokens, it'll show your account's current balance.
  • Whenever want to swap an ERC-20, you need to first send an approve transactions. This allows the swap's contract to transfer your tokens in order to do the trade. This is also potentially dangerous, so only approve of the amount you intend to swap.
  • The default settings are usually good for trades. (If you are swapping huge amounts of tokens, you may need to increase the slippage in the advanced settings.)
  • Wait about 5-10s for the approval to go through. Then trade.
There is an alternative swap: RCPSwap. But it has less liquidity.
On CEXs: Some CEXs like MEXC and Gate.io allow you to buy/sell MOONs directly through their exchange.

Providing Liquidity

Liquidity is the process of providing tokens to a pool that can be used by AMM DEXs. When you're swapping tokens on a DEX, you're actually trading against the liquidity pool. The larger the pool, the less the slippage during the trade. In return for providing liquidity, LPs earn a small portion of the trading fees and some additional rewards.
Providing liquidity is complex and long, so please see these 3 other guides:

MoonPlace

Reddit Collectible Avatars

Moons have no official connection to Reddit Collectible Avatars. They're 2 separate projects.
You can view your NFTS on https://opensea.io/

Only the future will be able to tell.

2023.03.30 18:26 KUNGERMOoN2 New Input System: Switch between Left Stick and D-Pad input

How can I automatically switch the player's current movement input method to Gamepad's Left Stick or D-Pad, based on which one the player is currently using? I've tried adding both as bindings in my Movement action, but it seems like input is registered from both simultaneously, as the result is very laggy/snappy (even if I use only one of them)
Additional info: - I'm using the Player Input component to communicate with the input system - I have two control schemes in my Input Action Asset, one for Gamepad input, and the second one for keyboard and mouse

2023.03.30 18:25 RegulusPlus Tier 4 this skill! #18: Infantry Pulse

IP. This skill is dependent on the unit with it having higher HP than the infantry allies it wants to support. Do you see this skill evolving to support more than infantry users, or maybe to support more movement types? As a support skill it could also grant more effects, like we've seen with Inf. Spd Tactic. The game devs have given out sources of special pulses more generously in the past year, I'm curious to see what's to be done with this skill.
Today we have: Infantry Pulse. The skill's current description:
At the start of turn 1, grants Special cooldown count-1 to all infantry allies on team with HP < unit's HP. (Stacks with similar skills.)
Notable Users: Dancers/Supports with workable HP (Nils, Mikoto, Loki, Ninians)
Tier-4 upgrades so far almost all go the route of bringing more utility to the units that already have it, rather than making it accessible to more units. Some of the upgrades we've gotten so far have taken a different direction, so remember that this is all for fun. For the sake of discussion I just recommend that any crafts are practical. That's a subjective word, but what I really mean is that it's no fun if the skill gives you +50 to all stats and 5 bonus statuses. Feel free to push the envelope, otherwise.
For guidance, here's what A/B/C passive skills tend to do, although additional effects can take from other categories, as IS has done in the past:
A
B
C
Have fun!

2023.03.30 18:20 Upstairs_Cow_3978 I don’t want this

This is going to be long and all over the place.
BM of my SD(10) is a narcissist and neglects her kids. SD has T1 diabetes and BM neglects the diabetes. She also locks her kids in their room or leaves them outside in the sun with no sunscreen and they end up with second degree sunburns. Their clothes smell like cat urine and the clothes don’t even fit right. To make a long story short, my DH now has temporary full custody of my SD since November 2022. The temporary order was continued until June 2023 when there will be another court hearing with permanent orders. Goal is for DH to have full custody permanently and BM can see SD every other weekend. I don’t know how she hasn’t lost custody of her other daughter yet.
BM is the reason DH and I are together. BM and I went to high school together but weren’t ever really friends we just had each other on social media all these years. When she got pregnant she cheated on my DH and continued to until he finally left when SD was about 2. Years later BM showed DH my social media and he sent me a DM and now we are married. But, in the beginning she would try to control the relationship DH and I were building. Telling us when we could move in together, when we could sleep together, how often we could see each other, etc. I got sick of it and stood up for us and ever since then she has tried to make my life a living hell. Even tried to get DH to break up with me and tried to get SD to hate me. It’s been years of this. Needless to say I have big problems with BM.
Now, I have issues with SD as well. She is the most defiant and disrespectful kid I have ever met and always has been even before DH got temporary custody. She cries and screams when she doesn’t get her way. She deliberately doesn’t do what she’s asked to do. We don’t ask to much of her. The normal stuff like clean her room, brush her hair, brush her teeth, shower. Doesn’t matter what we ask of her, she throws a tantrum like a 3 year old. I try to teach her basic life skills and she forgets in 5 minutes. Every day it’s like teaching her the same things for the first time. Any time DH and I get close, SD throws a fit. I can’t hug my DH, kiss him, hold his hand or even say “I love you” without her getting upset. Any time he tries to give me just an ounce of attention when SD is around, SD immediately acts out or does something to divert the attention back to her. Attention to her from DH and I has never been an issue. We spend family time together all the time. I know when she was with BM, BM would make SD stay in her room and wouldn’t let her come out. I can understand why SD has needs for attention but I don’t understand why she demands it the way she does from DH and I.
I really could go on and on but I think you get my point. I just don’t know what to do any more. I don’t want her to live with her BM again because that’s just toxic altogether. She’s better off living with DH and I but I just can’t help feeling all this resentment and I really don’t know what to do.

2023.03.30 18:19 Oratory_madness02 Taissa's Family in S2

Do you think Taissa will physically hurt Simone in S2? I'm marking this as a spoiler because of a split-second still from one of the trailers and a comment that the actress made about S2.
We know Simone is keeping Sammy from Taissa (as she should) and threatened to go to the press if Tai didn't step down from office and seek help for her condition. She loves Taissa, that much is clear given how she didn't threaten to keep Sammy away from her forever, but established very clear conditions that would need to be met in order to reestablish that connection. Yet, I genuinely think that threatening to expose her was taking it a bit too far, not because I disagree with Simone but because Bad-Tai won't take something like that laying down. Simone knows Tai is dangerous, but doesn't know just how dangerous she is.
The adult actress for Tai mentioned that we could come to hate Tai this season. In one of the trailers, there is a shot of Simone sitting in a hospital bed badly hurt and looking completely done with life. I think Taissa's journey this season will not end in her learning to control Bad-Tai, but in her accepting this feral/dangerous persona as a part of herself. I think she will be the reason why Simone ends up in the hospital, maybe to get Sammy back or to stop Simone from exposing her, and that's why we could come to hate Tai. What do you guys think? Does it make sense to you?
If something like that were to happen, would you feel about Simone like whatever you felt about Adam?

2023.03.30 18:10 OuijaSurfBoard SGI's own Hawaiian version of the "Nigerian Prince" - SURF'S UP!!

Honolulu Star Bulletin
Honolulu attorney booked in fake-visa scheme
Star Bulletin Staff
September 17, 1997
A Honolulu attorney is accused of running a scheme to defraud Japanese nationals by filing false applications for visas.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Omer Poirier said the scheme run by S. Jay Matsumaru was elaborate, wiring and diverting funds through Matsumaru-controlled corporations. He said there were three victims.
Matsumaru is accused of telling Japanese nationals that he could get them E-2 visas that would allow them to come to the United States.
An E-2 visa is granted to foreign nationals who actively manage substantial business enterprises in the United States.
The indictment further alleges that Matsumaru set up Hawaii corporations, which he controlled and to which he had his clients wire large amounts of money. for the claimed purpose of allowing them to get a visa.
The two wire fraud charges allege the clients wired $650,000 and $50,000 to such accounts.
The indictment alleges the funds were diverted for Matsumaru's own use without the knowledge or permission of his clients.
The indictment says Matsumaru also presented visa applications and other documents falsely claiming "treaty investor" status, as a result of investments which Matsumaru knew had not been made.
Matsumaru faces a possible five year imprisonment on each of the five counts.
Note: Mr. Matsumura was not only a member of SGI, but he also represented the local SGI corporation in Hawaii. Source
The SGI's "Hawaiian Prince" ended up sentenced to 41 months in prison:
Attorney going to prison for wire, visa fraud
A Honolulu attorney convicted of preparing fraudulent visa applications and stealing money from clients will serve 41 months in federal prison.
U.S. District Judge Susan Oki Mollway yesterday also sentenced S. Jay Matsumaru, 44, to three years of supervised release and ordered $50,000 restitution to one of the victims.
A federal jury in January found Matsumaru, a Japanese citizen, guilty of two counts of wire fraud, two counts of visa fraud and one count of establishing a commercial enterprise to violate immigration laws. Matsumaru received 41 months on each count to run concurrently and also faces deportation.
He was facing a maximum five years on each wire fraud count and commercial enterprise violation and a maximum 10 years on each visa fraud count.
Defense attorneys for Matsumaru say they will appeal his conviction. "We don't believe the evidence sustained a conviction and hope it will be overturned on appeal," said William L. Osterhoudt.
Matsumaru feels "deep sadness" for the impact the charges has had on his family and friends, Osterhoudt said.
[So saaaad he got caught! 😭]
Assistant U.S. Attorney Omer Poirier said Matsumaru defrauded his Japanese national clients by having them set up companies that wired him money for purposes of submitting applications for treaty investor visas.
Treaty investor visas are granted to foreign nationals who make substantial investments in the United States.
Matsumaru diverted the wired money -- totaling $711,000 -- for his personal use, Poirier said. "This was out and out theft."
He took advantage of people who put trust in him as their lawyer and as an "officer of the court" lied to the U.S. government, Poirier said.
Osterhoudt argued that until his client's conviction, Matsumaru, who has practiced law for more than 10 years, has been law-abiding.
Characterizing his victims as "vulnerable" distorts sentencing guidelines, which call for additional prison time for offenses against the young, old and the sick, he said "They were sophisticated businessmen who received the benefit of what they bargained for."
Poirier said Matsumaru targeted specific clients by placing Japanese ads and took advantage of the fact that they couldn't speak English and were unfamiliar with aspects of doing business in the United States.
Mollway said Matsumaru's actions violated the attorney's professional code of ethics and negatively impacts the public's views concerning the integrity of the legal profession. Source
Gee, ya think?? How do you suppose this "actual proof" impacts the public's views concerning his CULT's claims about the "benefits" of their supposed "human revolution"??? Some "TRUE" Buddhism!
There is a long summary with loads of legalese here for anyone who's interested.

2023.03.30 18:08 _wellIguess About playable party members and why it's better for XVI to not have them

I've thought a lot about this (as you can see by the size of this post lol). Since there's always someone whishing for the companions to be playable, I thought it'd be nice to offer a (personal) explanation why it's better that they're not.
Because of vital plot reasons, Clive is collecting eikonic powers, which is translated to gameplay in the form of 7 eikonic skill trees (I won't count Ifrit and Leviathan just yet). Each eikon has 5 abilities. This means 35 abilities already. Clive himself has 14 "normal" abilities. This amounts to 49 abilities that can be combo'ed to various effects and in any order between them. That's a lot. And I'm not counting magic (Fire, Blizzara, etc) nor the eikons' "special" abilities (Phoenix Shift, Deadly Embrace, etc). This would bring Clive to around 63 battle options.
If a character like Jill, for example, had eikonic abilities, it makes sense she'd only have the Shiva ones, which means 5. Even if they gave her 14 "normal" abilities like Clive and you count Blizzard and Cold Snap, she'd only have around 21 abilities. Which means that everything she can do battle wise, Clive can do better and with more complexity.
It makes no sense to make a character that won't always be in the party have a very complex ability set, for you won't have too much time with them to grasp it or invest in it. And if you make them playable, they become redundant and obsolete next to Clive. So really, why bother? It's a bad decision game design wise and I don't think they should do it just so they can say "yes, you can control everybody".
Also, Clive is already a handful. Instead of wanting others to be playable, people should worry about mastering him first lol.

2023.03.30 18:01 chrisza4 Using Enneagram as a growth tool

Today I want to talk about using Eneagram as a growth tool.
Most Enneagram resources online mention briefly growth path, growth journey and health level. Basically, most of them just talk about what are each type's blind spots and how to grow.
I think it is worth mentioning the theory behind Enneagram growth that has been missing.

We are all born with all Enneagram type

For someone who starts to type themselves according to Enneagram and feels like they have multiple types, you are correct.
Every human being has some degree of every type. That is a given. I'm type 7s and I'm fixating on happiness according to Enneagram. But I can assure you no one in the world look at me like an alien and wondering "why the hell does this creature want to go for happiness? Does not make any sense to me". Everyone can relate to and understand a human need for happiness to a certain degree, regardless of what their type is.
To expand on this, when we look at Enneagram 1s we are not like "why does this creature have an internal moral system? What is the purpose of it? It does not make any sense to live with integrity." No, right? We understand type 1 to a certain degree even when we are other types.
We also don't look at Enneagram 9s and be like "why is this creature need comfort and peace? Does not make any sense."
I can go on but I think I already made a point.
This is because every human has every type's capability. We are in some sense, every Enneagram type to a certain degree. We all have shame, fear and anger. We all have the capability and yearn to be integrity, loved, successful, authentic, self-sufficient, safe, happy, autonomous and comfort.
We are not an AI maximizer which will do everything imaginable for just one single yearning that we are programmed with. We are human. We have multiple yearning and need.
This leads to the next question.

If we are every type, what really makes us a certain type?

Short answer: Fixation.
A human of type is a human with a strong fixation on particular core emotion and core fear. They become imbalanced.
We don't really know why every human ends up with a particular fixation. That is out of the scope of Enneagram.
While every human wants to be happy, a human of type 7s will have an unhealthy fixation with happiness to the point that only a few seconds of unhappiness and boredom will make 7s anxious and need to do something.
While every human wants to be right, a little imperfection will drive a human of type 1s crazy and drive them to act something.
Every type has this strong fixation toward their core fear that when we look from the other type's perspective, it is clear that the fixation is kinda "crazy". But if they look from their own type perspective, it's just a "normal" and "natural" thing to feel, think or do.
"I'm bored for 5 seconds now so I need to do something else. It's natural." - Unhealthy 7s "If someone punches me the only thing I can do is punch back. There is no alternative." - Unhealthy 8s

What's wrong with fixation?

Type fixation is a survival strategy that humans choose to utilize as a default strategy.
According to some theories, we develop these fixations because of childhood trauma. I don't know the validity of it. We don't really know if it comes from nature or nurture yet.
The point is, the type strategy works (otherwise humans of that type would be already dead) and usually the type will become an innate talent and advantage.
1s has innate talent for perfection. 2s has innate talent toward love. 3s has innate talent toward success and so on.
The type strategy will work 99% of your life and if that is the case, there is no need for growth.
But I can assure you, there will be 1% of the time where your type strategy and fixation do not work. And that is exactly when you need to learn to grow out of your type.
And when I say "does not work". I don't mean literal death. I mean, there will be a certain kind of strong disappointment that you can innately feel about your own way of dealing with life.
You will feel dissatisfied and unease with yourselves even though your decision is perfectly aligned with your type of strategy and your decision seems to be a "natural" way to deal with things according to you.
That is exactly when your type does not work.
Stereotype Example:
Every type's strategy taken to the extreme will create dissatisfaction in life.

Growth

The growth starts when you start to see that your own type is not the only way to deal with the world. It is only an option.
When you start to introspect into your type and let go of it when 1% of life situations call for it. That is when you grow.
When you can freely use your own type of talent or utilize another type of talent (since we are all born with every type's capability), that's when you are growing from your own type.
Your own type will still be your innate talent, but you are free from seeing that as the one true and only way to live.
You can freely choose to use your own type when it fits, and not use it when the situation does not call for it.
That what it means to grow from your type.
Example:
When type lets go of fixation, their type strategy becomes a talent.
When type can't let go of their own fixation, sometimes their type becomes an obstacle.
The path of growth consists of these steps
First, be aware of your own type and know that the type does not define you. You are not your type. Your own type and beliefs are not the only possible way to live (think/feel/act).
This is very hard to accept.
Once you are aware and truly understand that you are not your own type, you can consciously "choose" not to use your own type. At first, this will come with strong discomfort. Like, 7s let go of happiness sometimes. 8s let go of control sometimes. 5s spend energy inefficiently sometimes. 1s let go of imperfections sometimes. etc. etc.
But eventually, you will learn to live with that and start to become more whole.
And you can decide how to live which aligns with your own inner self and not just your type.
Your own type becomes a tool, not your master.
Your own type cannot lie to you that "the world works like this and the only option you have is to feel/think/do that" anymore.
You might even be able to access other type's talent, once you are free from your own type. I, for example, start using type 4s innate talent of authenticity with my own feeling. I'm just a beginner of this but I can bring that energy up sometimes. (My default trifix is 739/793. Not sure what is the order)
That's the concept behind the growth path of Enneagram.
Enneagrams have a concept of health level. The higher level of health is just that you can use your own type more consciously. You become the master of your type. At a low level of health, you are a slave to your own type.
That's a wrap.

2023.03.30 18:01 RedXSpotter-711 Connecting Sennheiser Max to Smart Control app

The Quick Setup guide with all the pictures is sparse on guidance instructions. It doesn't tell the user to change the WI-FI source to the soundbar in order to get the Smart Control app to interact with it!
Try this: 1) On your mobile device open SETTINGS -> WI-FI and look for AMBEO SOUNDBAR and select it (you may be be presented with connection options. Select ONE TIME ONLY. If you select ALWAYS, your mobile device won't attempt to connect to your router on next startup).
2) Still in settings, select Bluetooth. Scan for devices. It should report the AMBEO Soundbar. If it doesn't, force the Soundbar into Pairing mode by pressing the [Dot icon] button and SOURCE button together for a couple of seconds - you should hear an audio tone indicating pairing has started. The display will also say Pairing. Pair your device to the soundbar.
3) Start the Smart Control app on your mobile device and have it search for the soundbar. It should present an image of your model. Select it. Once connected to the app, you can calibrate the soundbar from the app (or from the soundbar). Scroll down to inspect other selections. Note: The app provides a selection to update firmware. I believe you need to hardwire your home network to the network jack on the rear of the soundbar in order for the Smart Control app to check for a newer firmware version and load it into the soundbar.

2023.03.30 18:01 StepwiseUndrape574 Rockstar’s Big Grand Theft Auto Trilogy Update Offers A Laundry List Of Bug Fixes

Much to the delight of fans of the Grand Theft Auto franchise, Rockstar Games earlier this month released Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition, a remastered collection of three of the most popular and iconic titles from the ongoing series. Unfortunately, it also debuted with a multitude of issues, prompting an apology by the developer. Good news though—the game's first update is now out and it purports to fixe dozens of bugs.
In case you missed it, the collection includes remastered versions of Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. Rockstar Games prettied up all three games with high resolution textures, increased draw distances, GTA V style controls, and other modern updates the freshen up and revive these older titles.
However, graphical glitches and performance issues plagued what had been a much-anticipated release. Or as the developer put it in an apology note, the collection suffered "unexpected technical issues."
"Firstly, we want to sincerely apologize to everyone who has encountered issues playing these games. The Grand Theft Auto series—and the games that make up this iconic trilogy — are as special to us as we know they are to fans around the world. The updated versions of these classic games did not launch in a state that meets our own standards of quality, or the standards our fans have come to expect," Rockstar Games said.
GTA Trilogy
The developer says it has "ongoing plans to address the technical issues and to improve each game going forward." Rockstar Games did not get into specifics, but its first update for the collection brings with it a massive list of fixes spanning more than 60 issues, including ten that apply to each game. They include... Fixed multiple localization issues Fixed multiple instances of missing or misaligned collision Fixed multiple instances of holes in the map Fixed multiple instances of incorrect or misplaced textures Fixed multiple instances of the camera clipping through objects Fixed multiple instances of incorrect subtitles being displayed Fixed multiple instances of incorrect help text being displayed Fixed multiple instances of misplaced objects Fixed multiple instances of issues with character models in cutscenes Fixed multiple instances of audio lines being skipped, delayed, or repeated There are dozens of other issues this update aims to fix, the most of which apply to San Andreas. You can check out the patch notes for the full list.
On a related note, this update applies to PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series XS, and Xbox One owners. What about the PC version? Funny thing—Rockstar Games pulled the title offline for PC shortly after launch in order to "remove files unintentionally included" in these versions." Speculation is that it's because the PC release contained unlicensed music files, which were discovered in a data-mining effort.
Rockstar Games said it will be adding the PC version of the collection to its store sometime soon. "Additionally, everyone who has purchased Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition for PC from the Rockstar Store through June 30, 2022, will receive these classic versions in their Rockstar Games Launcher library at no additional cost. We will update everyone as soon as these are back in the Rockstar Store," the developer added.
