Due to heavy and persistent rain, the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway has been postponed until Monday afternoon at 3 p.m. ET. The race will serve as the feature event in a Memorial Day double-header of NASCAR racing, following the Xfinity Series race which is scheduled to start at 11 a.m. ET. Weather in Charlotte for Monday afternoon calls for cloudy skies with with temperatures in the upper 60s and and a 24% chance of rain..
This is the first time that inclement weather has forced the Coca-Cola 600 to run on Memorial Day afternoon since 2009. That year saw David Reutimann earn his first career Cup Series win after his team successfully gambled on further rain arriving and ending the race, leaving him out on a cycle of pit stops before rain ended the race at lap 227.,,

2023.05.29 17:19 Birddoghaus Other Fun Activities to Include?
Hi guys! It's almost my birthday! I usually go to Vegas for it but this year I wanted to spend time with my mates and enjoy the day at home. I plan on throwing a sort of BBQ party in my backyard where I smoke a lot of meat for it and have people bring sides, beer, etc. Almost 90% of people in attendance will be from my Muay Thai gym.
I plan on having:
- A pinata filled with mini liquor bottles, maybe some knuckle wraps, little fun toys
- Waterguns
- A few sports items (soccer balls, football)
- Beer pong (obviously)
I feel like there should maybe be one or two more activities that I have included, but I'm not sure what. Honestly after a few drinks we usually start to play fight each other, so there's always that. Maybe I can rent a projector and put UFC fights on the side of my shed? But what else could I do in my backyard? It's pretty sizeable.
TIA for any suggestions you might have!

2023.05.29 17:17 thewindows95nerd How common are these types of scams?
Hey
ethiopia,
I apologize if this is the wrong place to ask but I just am rather curious about these scams and even the whole logic behind it.
But basically it started with me walking in Bole, Addis one night during my day layover with a local that came to help me find a nearby Tomoca Coffee Place and then invited me to get some coffee. I obliged (yes I know I was a complete idiot here) where he brought me to a well lit place that was near other shops but not something I would call a typical cafe but there was a waiter and his two ladyfriends who apparently were studying "culture" at the university. The guy kept insisting me to get some alcohol even though I just wanted coffee and that I buy a bottle for him and his ladyfriends and not to worry as it will be something I could easily pay with the Birr cash I had. I was already feeling wary but at the same time I also did not want to get into an altercation so I was ready to just try to follow along and then make my way outta there. We had normal/typical conversations about things such as my life and the life of locals here. His ladyfriends kept insisting for me to spend more time at the place for a "massage" which was when my red flags started going way up in the air and I gave them a firm "nah, I'm good". I pretty much finished up my coffee/drinks and then asked for the bill since I was trying to find a way outta here. Waiter brings the "bill" and tells me what I have in cash isn't going to cover it but that I could pay by card and would get a cheaper rate (apparently around $80 USD). I already was aware that this was going to be a scam so I chose my credit card which had the best fraud protection for this type of stuff when it comes to paying time. He and his ladyfriends asked to spend more time at the place and that we should get more to drink but I managed to make a way outta there by saying that I had to get back to my hotel and also get some food. The man then went out with me and begged for some Birr from me for his apparently ailing family member. I of course said "no" (and seriously? you'd think you would get cash from me when you just scammed me?).
I immediately went back to my hotel room and of course noticed the fraudalent charge on my credit card for around $750 USD and spent the whole night dealing with it as I had to find a way to call my credit card company to inform of the fraud where they cancelled my card and reversed the charge, and then (in my panicked state) decided to go extra and ask my hotel front desk to see if I could go to the police station to file a police report. They were kind enough to get a taxi driver to the station (who also helped translate for me to the police at the station!) and the police requested that I try to bring them a copy of my bank statement with the charge and also guide them to the place it happened with the receipt. They even sent a group of federal police officers (one of them was even armed with an AK) like an hour later to my hotel to basically see the copy of my bank statement ($750 charge immediately raised eyebrows for them) and asked me to see if I could postpone my flight that same day so that I could come with them to the place that the scam it happened since this can result in some serious trouble for the place. I didn't give any guarantees but said that I will try only for it not to work out which meant that I ended up giving my hotel the copy of my statement (with my contact info written on it incase I needed to be reached out) before rushing to the airport that morning.
But it had me thinking later today. I just don't understand this scam when this is most likely going to result in a chargeback from my credit card especially with the proof I have about it being a fraudalent transaction therefore they aren't even going to see a single bit of the $750. If anything, the scammers would have more to lose from the scam. But I never also heard this type of scam happening before since I'm so used to hearing about pickpockets in other countries or the usual begging or taxis overcharging you. So I was just curious on how common these scams are since I never encountered such a thing (though this is probably me being naive).
P.S.
Also want to say that this experience never gave Ethiopia in a bad light to me even though I spent only a day in Bole because of the amount of kind and nice people that were willing to help the idiotic gullible tourist that is me after the scam such as the hotel workers and the taxi driver (I honestly feel bad for both them as they had to deal with panicked me that whole night as I didn't sleep at all). If anything, this experience sort of encourages me to come to Ethiopia again to enjoy the culture at a better light though probs with asking smaller food portions since the dish sizes at the places I ate are massive!

2023.05.29 17:10 ancherrera What a surprise!
| I went to a party at a friends house. Over the years he has managed to collect some nice wines even though he doesn’t drink wine on a regular basis. Unfortunately he didn’t store them in ideal conditions but acceptable. In a closet or his basement that is air conditioned. We were making pizzas and steaks so I figured I’d grab a bottle of something Italian. I saw this one and figured might as well open it. It’s either good and we can enjoy it or it’s taking up space When I tried opening it the cork split. There was staining almost all the way up the cork but there was about 1/4” of unstained cork at the top. I figured the bottle was a goner. I managed to get the cork out. Wow. As soon as I did the aroma that came out of the bottle made me excited. Cherries and herbs and menthol. Some vanilla and wood. The color was a bit brickish as you would expect. Some sediment and bits of cork floating in there. (I know I was careless opening and pouring but we didn’t have a decanter and we were in a festive mood) The taste had good acidity and some tannins. Berries and herbs. And some nice age and wooziness with dusty mouthfeel. So surprising given my low low low expectations. Paired awesome with the pizzas. submitted by ancherrera to wine [link] [comments] |

2023.05.29 16:56 LilKoshka My best friend died
My best friend was a CA. She hadn't worked in years after her alcohol use caused her to have seizures. From there she continued to drink at home. She told herself she had crippling anxiety, not alcoholism. Until she ended up in the hospital with low potassium.
From there her doctors sent her home with A LOT of prescription potassium and magnesium. They had her on anti seizure meds. She had a benzo and hydroxyzine for anxiety. And she had her SUD diagnosis.
Three weeks ago she showed signs of jaundice (hepatitis) and refused to go back to the hospital. One week ago she layed down to take a nap and never woke up again. My best friend is gone. Overall her steep decline in health and into the bottle till death took her roughly 6 years.
I know this isn't a recovery sub. But for all the people that love you out there, please do not neglect your health. If you see signs of jaundice, go to the fucking hospital.

Even though I stopped drinking I still love the feeling of a cold glass bottle with a hoppy taste in my hand when rocking out to the music of my youth.

2023.05.29 16:23 Informal_Juice_3011 Question
I have a question regarding Alanon. When they say to “stay in your lane” and not search for the alcohol bottles. I separated from my husband a few months ago (lasted 10 days) and he started going to AA and promising sobriety for the first time in a decade. I’ve had my feeling in the last month he’s been hiding it and finally confirmed it this morning. How do I “stay in my lane” and “let go and let god” when I have 2 kids that he was probably drinking with and all the trust has been broken again? How do others handle this? I was so close to leaving and now feel so stupid for being sucked back into this again.

2023.05.29 16:23 Reasonable-Mind6606 Struggle Bus Realness
My drinking had gotten out of hand. About 1.5-2 bottles of wine a day. I have some NAL around the house from a feeble and misguided attempt to stop in the past. I had not done my reading on Sinclair.
I’m trying to jump back into alcohol reduction but I got off on the wrong foot.
Day 1: Took 50 mg in the AM. I felt completely flat, unmotivated, and apathetic to the world. Also, my appetite completely went away. Scary away levels.
Day 2 (yesterday): Took 25 about 1 hr before I started drinking. I ended up drinking a little less. On my last drink I was telling myself that I needed to force myself to finish my drink. I understand this is where I should be a bit more introspective and okay with not finishing it. I did a good bit of thinking while on that last drink.
Appetite continued to be awful. Some rumbling in my stomach but no vomiting. Also, I felt like I was only half asleep throughout the night last night.
Today: Memorial Day festivities with heavy drinking family members. I’m trying to decide how to approach today. I feel like I came on way too strong at 50 on day 1. Day 2 I still felt like garbage for the most part and didn’t sleep well.
Question to y’all: how should I approach today? Since I ran into NAL like a damn wrecking ball, my body just feels really apathetic, not hungry, not really wanting to drink, and kind of in a shit ass mood. Should I skip today to give my body a break from NAL or continue on today at a slower dose?
I really want to slow my drinking and can power through if needed. Also, I think part of it may be a bit of withdrawal. Shit, I can’t even tell right now.
Any words of advice or support much appreciated. Holidays are the worst for my drinking so I’m trying to navigate multiple new things at once. Happy Memorial Day! 🤨🥹

2023.05.29 16:20 Ok-Rutabaga-3602 Partner was assaulted(?) by bartender.
TLDR: A female bartender tried to punch and threw a glass at my male partner (luckily he dodged both) and also assaulted her coworker before screaming at and berating us.
Last night my partner (M33) and I went to a bar after a festival, the bar was busier than usual because of this which meant we were waiting around 30mins to get served. My partner was about to get served when the guy serving had to leave so another female bartender came. My partner called her attention to let her know he was to be served next (because he already was) she said ok and then went away for a few more minutes before returning and my partner signalled again to remind her as she was going over to someone else.
The bartender lady was already visibly angry with a heavy attitude on arrival before he called to her… and I understand it was busy, a long day or a bad day in her personal life.
We order two ciders (in a bottle) and two beers from the tap (so open and in a cup). She gives us the cider bottles but not the (half full) beer and asks my partner to pay… my partner asks to get the beers first before paying… as is usual in London… she replies with some attitude remark and then takes one the beers to the back and returns with it. At the point my partner was already talking to the rest of the people waiting who saw who all agreed that she went to spit in his drink… whether or not she did spit in it I’m very wary of my drinks leaving my sight because of getting spiked anyway and also I assume bartenders are told not to do this…
My partner assuming she spat in his drink asked for a replacement… she said no and that that beer tap was done now so he asked for a different type. At this point she got extremely angry poured his drink away, told he wasn’t getting served anymore and told the other staff not to serve him too and asked him to pay for the ciders which he did. Everyone at the bar including the other staff knew she was in the wrong and so the young bartender next to her told my partner he would serve him as she was turned away.
She had left at this point for a few minutes and the other bartender served my partner, she comes back and sees and shouts at the young bartender tell him she told him not to serve my partner and grabs him by the collar of his t-shirt. The young bartender was visibly shooken up after this. She then turns to my partner and shouts at him telling him he’s not getting served, she then tries to punch my partner over the bar but he moved out the way and then she throws a plastic cup at him which he manages to avoid hitting him in the face by his hands.
She then runs behind the bar outwards… thinking she is coming after my partner the bystanders at the bar tell my partner to leave (in case he gets angry and retaliates). I didn’t know what was happening so I grabbed my boyfriend and asked what was going on and he told me. By the time he finished she had arrived with the security guard, still shouting and screaming about getting him out (it seemed very personal) on the basis that he didn’t pay for the drinks… but he did. The security guy wasn’t on her level and was trying to be reasonable asking if we had paid… i told him yes and if we haven’t we will now and also tried to explain the assault but she was too busy screaming and causing a scene that my boyfriend was getting more angry and we left.
I’d like to know if there is anything legally we can do here as I’m not sure how much assault is classed as actual assault?
My plan is to write an email to the bar (as I used to go frequently there I know that this is not the usual for that place) stating what happened with the hopes of her getting fired. I am also planning to ask them for the CCTV of the bar (if they have any - I remember hearing that all places with cash registers are meant to have cameras watching) and also ask for statements from the other bartenders who witnessed… especially the one she also assaulted (but i’m aware he might be reluctant to do this).
If I don’t get a response, I would most likely go down there and ask to talk to the manager.
I’m just wondering if there is anything I should do before sending the email, like talking to the police? If there’s anything I should include in the email or ask for?
My partner was very upset about the situation, angry and confused. He still is upset but is trying to forget about it mostly because he thinks he will be blamed or it will get turned on him somehow. I however think it’s important something is done.
For a little context my partner is Indian and the lady was mixed raced or latina… she was treating any of the other bar customers this way (except obviously the bartender) so I’m also thinking it might have been a race issue or a sexist issue because she seemed to have no problem with me or the other female bartenders.

Real evil corporations like nestle, BP, Coca Cola, Amazon, Apple have legit killed people and engaged in basically slavery. Facebook knowingly enabled genocide in Myanmar! Disney doesn’t do any of that! The worst things they do are charge too much for theme parks, make mediocre movies based on a thing you like (which you don’t have to watch), and prevent you from selling their shit for money. If that’s the height of evil to you, congrats on your very, very easy life.

2023.05.29 16:12 ruslanvara Day 8 nicotine free
it feels like my nicotine cravings are almost gone. Im still thinking sometimes about, how nice it was to open the window in the evening and exhale the vapour in the dusk. And also about standing somewhere outside with a glas of wine or beer bottle in one hand and damn vape pen in other.
the first 2 days were really terrible. days 3-5 were much better. more control over the situation and less cravings. headaches with aura and diarrhea, but much better mood in general.
my advice to those who are just starting: — go “cold turkey” and avoid any nicotine product like patches and gums. better hit a nicotine free vape — im using strong menthol cough drops instead when i have cravings or just drinking water. a couple times a day im brewing myself a good cup of coffee

2023.05.29 16:04 angelsarepresent111 Where is my coolant disappearing to? Overheating issues.
2012 S Manual 2.0. So, I definitely have a coolant leak. I'm a novice mechanic but I'm really getting to know the problems of the MK3 Focus. I've had 2. The coolant only disappears during driving. I keep filling the coolant to the MAX or at least the MIN line on the overflow. Overnight, the level didn't seem to move. But after doing my deliveries for about 63 miles, the coolant level fell to barely visible in the overflow. I watched a couple of videos on coolant leaks with the MK3.
The car has been mysteriously overheating recently. Two times it was while in a drive-thru on a slight downhill. Same drive thru, same spot! The fan was not coming on to cool it for some reason. The fan does work. It does run. I thought maybe the engine coolant fan control was going bad. But when the coolant is OK, the engine keeps cool and the fan turns on. All four times the car has overheated, the chime sounded and all four times, the coolant was not visible in the overflow upon opening the hood. I did feel wetness under the overflow when checking for a leak. The video told me that the overflow bottles and its cap are prone to leak. I don't have a lot of money. I wonder if I should start with replacing the cap or cap and bottle and eliminate the cheapest fix? I don't see any obvious leaks on the ground, only a slight drip while running. The coolant is going somewhere!! Is it boiling away? Is it leaking and evaporating under pressure while driving? Seems so. I'm not a coolant expert. I know air flowing through the front grille cools the liquid in the radiator, and then that flows through ports in the engine to cool it down. I really want to figure this out!!

2023.05.29 16:00 BruhvChavBloke Hangover effects persist after 2 days
2 days ago I (18M) got invited by my friends at a party where i ended up binge drinking quite a lot. As far as i remember i drank 3 or 5 vodka redbulls, 1 vodka gin, 1 shot of vodka and 1 shot of gin, all in a ~7 minutes span. Very quickly i began feeling nauseous and couldn't walk or think straight (your typical drunkenness side effects) and i ended up throwing up about 10 times. I spent the whole day after the event suffering hangover effects, fast forward to today and things still aren't any better, i struggle with memory and reasoning related tasks and i can't still coordinate my movements as well. Earlier my girlfriend asked me to hold a bottle for her so she could pour some tea in it and as soon as the tea hit the bottle my hand began shaking as i suffered from Parkinson's. I feel like my whole personality is duller, less creative and colder than before, and my sleep patterns are messed up and i have difficulty falling and staying asleep. and I don't know if this is just a bad hangover due to how fast i drank all that crap (i should also specify that was my first time getting drunk, ever) or if something bigger and more serious is going on. I did some (but like, very little) research and read that hangover effects can last up to 72+ hours, but i would like to know something more about what could really be going on with me asap. If you need additional information please don't be afraid to ask.

2023.05.29 15:53 Billyjamesjeff The people who say ‘skill difference’ re sprinting changes are not who the devs should listen to.
I’ve noticed when people raise that its harder to hit enemies with the increased speed (which it obviously is, 15% approx), i hear the same smug ‘skill difference’ responses a lot, mainly on discord. I’ve played in squads with these dudes and i’m generalising but heres a summary -
- They will never defend. They rather lose then defend. I’m looking at the map and we could run 20m and be in the cap zone, nope - defence is for Losers apparently.
- They rage quit ALOT. Incredibly sore losers.
- Get pretty toxic on the comms, if a game isn’t going their way it’s always someone else’s fault, probably a poor tanker somewhere trying to learn the ropes.
- At the end of the game they say ‘where was the defence?’
- Have insane kill rates.
Theres nothing wrong with keeping the game accessible, a lot of people are over 30 and not hardcore fps gamers.
I’m doing alright with the changes but sympathise with others, its a pretty hard game TBF.
I really dont think the people slamming energy drinks 6 hours a day, who are so caffeinated they can alt-f4 tantrum faster then ive ever made a shot in my life, should be the target audience for the devs. These dudes will just move on to the next shooter and really would it be a great loss? nope. (rant over)
PS it is harder. If someones running between a hedge row you’ve got to be 15% quicker.

2023.05.29 15:43 Stick_Chap_Cherry It’s not getting easier, I need to make a plan to leave…
The most recent events with my 4 high school boys. A laptop I had just purchased ($500) I found ripped in half and shoved under my bed. Someone must have gotten mad at me when I punished them so they got revenge. Next, a fridge I have in the garage where I keep my diet food and some drinks I recently put a lock on because someone was stealing EVERYTHING from it, I found it ripped off and contents removed. They had only been here a few hours from their dad’s house when I found this…just a few hours! I took the wifi down last night at 9pm when I discovered this. Woke up this morning to find 8 empty bottles of water thrown on the ground, food wrappers, plates of rotten food left out. No decency to put in the garbage can? Really? I can’t do this anymore. I’m looking at an out of state job, I’m selling my big beautiful home that they have destroyed, and I’m paying the child support to get out of this mess that I’m in.
